We had to email us that were here that day,
Dave and his wife, and they said we we went
through any barriers. We didn't think he was contagious. That
they came in. I don't know if you remember and everything.
I said, he he is sick today. No, I'm kidding, No,
he said. He said, Hey, we weren't worried at all.

We weren't worried all we went in. This was the
maybe this is the couple that was the third attempt
the year, and finally they were here.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Yes, I do remember them, but they weren't. They weren't scared.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Nobody nobody was scared. And apparently Greg and apparently whatever
it was. I guess we'll go back to possible for
foot poisoning of some kind just.

Didn't sundle right. I don't know. Something went bad. Yeah, yeah,

did sleep. How bad did you feel? I didn't feel great?

I mean, I was on the way the house, pads
and things that stopped doing the way. Let me tell

we were we were raised by what we thought was normal.
Let me tell you this. I'm not Greg, I'm completely serious.
I'm completely serious, and this is not gonna surprise you
at all. So of course, at some point during this
which we're that our family is the only family that
does this, I think to this degree, Greg began we
begin to discuss what that that he's at another level toughness,

that he did finish off his response and responsibilities while
going to the bathroom a couple of times and having
to do horrible things and getting right back to getting
his work done. And there was a discussion of that toughness.
So then my mind started thinking, when I started not
seeing any symptoms, well am I am? I now even
another level of tough that he can't even get me sick,
you know, But that's how we started thinking. So when

I found out that nobody was getting sick, there's a
sight of me that said out maybe one contagious, right,
you know, because what now I was looking for? Like,
can I now say, well, I tell you the only
thing tougher than being sick and finishing your job is
being around you being sick and being so tough.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
It didn't even make me sick.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
That's a good point, but great, good point. The stat
I want I want to go exactly might be you problem, buddy.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, yeah, I don't know.

So, Yeah, the handle that you were in, we haven't
really broke down, and it's it's no you were we
were alive on air and it hit him.

faith and you didn't know if you were going to

out that door did you get your office office. Oh
that's not far. No, because the bathroom is twenty miles
from here. So I was like, that ain't happening. No,
you weren't gonna make the bathroom. I don't want to
be that guy like the school, the kid that would
hack a home and the janitor had to bring cat
litter out. Yeah you look now now Adler's got cat
litter for the vox seat. Columbus James in Yeah, Columbus James.

So you made it to your bathrooms? Uh, I mean
to your office? Yeahs trash can that's.

Like fifty feet.

Let's you can in your own trash cleaned it up, okay,
and then and then you took it home with you
in case it happened in the truck.

I cleaned up version. I brought it back this morning.
You brought the trash camp back. I thought I might
need it. Was running my air smart, that's smart, run Rick,
I knew I had you still to run errands.

after you relieve, after you that happens, you kind of
do feel better for a little bit, you know, right,
Yeah that really then it comes back, but it never
did after that, is that it too? We said we

When I had the colonoscar and the guy said, well,
how was the prey up, I said it was just
the eighties, just another day. I slept for boy, I
slept a lot, and then yesterday when I woke up,
I think, okay, I found normal.

do we periodically have to change the physical tag? Why
why do we ever leave the sticker? Because you know,

like when I was getting mine for this year, and
I did finally do I went online and got them
and they came.

We're good, okay, And that worked out really smooth. It
had to work a little harder than I thought on
because they wouldn't all come up. So I just start
entering the license plate and then eventually they did so,
so I got it done. But then they that's when
they said, may take a little longer, and I have
them now. It actually didn't take that long at all.
May take a little longer. This is the point I'm asking,
because this is the year that we're changing the physical tag.

layout maybe and phase out old ones.

have another tag.

I mean a new tag after you got your individual person. Yeah,
like within the last five years. Have you got so

it's it's within within that window you can get. And
then five years ago here's what I was a little
disappointed in shocker. I thought, well, we're gonna change the tag,
give me something new. It looks just like the other one,

If this was a new thing, thank you. They're trying
to make us do that on everything. It's up here,
we're gonna it's not new fangled.

We need to stop doing this new plate thing.

It's silly, y'all have out and it's frankly just for Okay,
I'm reading right here. Alabama spends fifteen million dollars every
year stamping new license plates. There's a state panel called
the License Plate Legislative over Site Committee, which helps decide
when they should be reissued. State Senator Gerald Dile is
the chairman. He says Alabama's policy is because when drivers

replace the plates, it ensures they're properly registered, and he
says new plates help law enforcement too. But several other states,
Georgia was looking to save money during the recession last decade.
California even stopped doing this as well. They allowed they
allowed drivers to keep their plates as long as they
have their cars.

Seems a little wasteful. If you want me to change,
like when I get a new car, that'd be a
good time to change.

New car, new plate, for sure.

But this one doesn't look at different any different. You
know what I found out.

You know, I'm working with the American Village. Did you
know they said that the ones that have God Bless
America on them, that they get to that that helps
fund them.

I don't. It just seems like a waste of money.
That's one thing that let me now I can't re memborize.

Of course, it does give me an opportunity around the
house to be a little handy babe.

and you don't have a screwdriver. Star bit, you can't

sequences that are different. Okay, because the tag was exactly

That almost would have given me a little enthusiasm to
cool looking new tag it. So you you could choose

they get you. So we've got five million people in
Alabama and we're spending fifteen million dollars a year on plate.

is it three bucks? And every saving you're out over
your skis now, Buddy said, I think it's three. What's

Okay, so yesterday and it was the first session, so yeah,
and I'm gonna a couple of things we need to
hit first of all, and this real briefly, Speedy. I
know that you have been our investigative journalists on the
death of the Hackmans. Yeah, Gene Hackman and his wife

(19:34):
and the dog. You know, there's so much bad information
now that's why we need you, Speed, because you've taken
on this story problem. But now we keep nobody can
get right where the dog was or how many dogs
there were. And you know, I remember the first time
it was the dog was dead laying there next to them.
Right then it was nope, the dog was created, died

(19:57):
of neglect. The latest dog, not crate, not next to them,
somewhere in it was actually in a room.

Speaker 3 (20:04):
Right.

Well, I'll take that part. I'll take it a step further. Rick,
The uh there should be hard. The fire department actually
came out and said, hey, we did get one thing wrong.
The we I d the the dog as one of
their German shepherds.

That was not.

It was a mixed breed, that was it. How does
that matter? I don't know. They're just they just felt
like they wanted to clarify that. You tell me they
corrected their thinking about it. Breed the dog.

Here's what I say to the investigators. We couldn't care
less about the breed. You can miss that.

Find out how they died, right, Uh, figure it out.

They news, and it was in a crate. But it
was in a closet in the bathroom. So we had
they had the crate part right, They had a closet
prob right now, put it together. It was in the
crate in a closet anyway.

And so that's where that the dog was too, could
the floor and they were punishing him. M hm uh
and Greg the what's the dog?

What about the dog?

From the experts, because you know, a lot of this
hasn't come back, autopsy report and all this kind of stuff.
They've pretty they've ruled out any kind of uh well,
any gases, carbon monoxide, anything in the house.

That I find them being a little repetitive about that.
We got that there's no gas. They come out like
every day the updoates no gas. You've already no gases?

Yeah.

And now they did say that the house was a
really nice house, like nine thousand square fees. It had
three different buildings, and of course it is. Yeah, they
were in the same building. He was in the mud room,
like we talked about with his cane. Looked like he
may have died of a heart attack, and that she
was found. Both of the bodies without being too gruesome here,

they were similar as far as timeline goes. They can
confirm that. But the autopsies have not come back.

So we will see what her calls were pretty much
with the pacemaker, and I'll know that he had an event.

We feel good about deal. We're not sure that's where

two dogs.

the breath.

We'd like to call a press conference that we are
so sorry we said the Hackman's dead dog was a shepherd,
a mixed breed.

Maybe maybe maybe maybe mama was a German Shepherd. We
think that daddy was just passing through it. Yeah, that
can't be sure that they had something else to update

Here's what we know. He was found in the mud room.
Now what we are unclear on is what was she doing?
Why did she have medicine. Why was it open? Why
were there pills on the floor and the dog locked
in the closet. There's a little bit of Gary in there. Yeah,

And then we have workers that have been working with
them for sixteen years.

moments after the thief tried to run away. A martial
arts academy and Channanooga posted these photos of social media.
They say several teachers students saw the teen stealing the
purse from the woman and then tried to run away.
Zack of the thief knock a woman to the ground.

matter ready, And then I know that lady the woman
running after him, and that's when I just took off.

He was very compliant and at that point I think
he was ready for the whole thing to be over with.

some degree. We have an overwhelming number of radio stations
that sit unattended. Nobody's tending to them, and they're trying

automation and all this. There was a time when, like

when we heard the other day somebody was having technical
trouble with the show, and it was two or three
days before anyone ever told us, well, the reason why
no one's tending.

Automation has its drawbacks.

I'm going further than that. I don't have a problem
with modern technology as long as it works well. But

least protection, no one's there, no one's watching, no one says, hey,
that we got the wrong thing on the air. No
one's saying, hey, the commercial breaks are clipping by the

time people find out it's been going on. There was
a time where if what was on the air.

Was just the slight bit off, just the slightest bit off,
someone would be running down the hall trying to get
it resolved. And most of the stations don't operate that
they're down to skeleton crewise cruise and you've got radio
stations sitting there with nobody in the building or no
one tending to that particular studio, and things are going

on on the air that there was a time in
radio people would have got fire of you, okay, and.

No one tends to it. No one's on top of it.
You know why.

That's not people doing a bad job. There's not enough people.
There's just not enough people to do it. And that's
the reason why you hear things go on and you're like, wow,
so I'm back again today and still hasn't got that off.

Well, a lot of times no one's even noticed at you.

Yeah, got to it, yeah, because no one is tending
the shop, no one's watching what's going on and listening
to what's going on.

you actually have to touch something. In other words, you
can't you can't work on it remotely. You actually have

That's why you got to have human beings paying attention,

because you know what happens when they have trouble doing that.
They'll go to an app, they'll go to the stream

coach Senator Tommy Tupperville is pushed trying to push through.
It would apply to those states that this legislation is
enacted to that who currently participate in daylight savings time, Okay,
which is observed by I think with that's eight months
out of the year and then four months is the
standard time. And so he's saying the bill would negate

the need for Americans to change twice and so daylight
savings time would be permanent.

Yeah, and that's what I want, That's what we want.

Alabama legislator passed a bill to permanently implement daylight savings
time like in twenty twenty one, but the legislation must
first be passed on a federal level in order for
the state to take it to law and it go
into effect. So that's what the state's waiting on the
federal level to pass it, and he's trying to push
it through the Senate.

And now Elon's getting involved. He just wants to know.
He's just taking the temperature of the country. Where are
we Yeah, And he's been a hater of the changing
like we have, and so.

He has really really tried to push this, you know,
to to see if we can't just make a permanent
change and just stay there.

Are you starting to get the sense that Elon thinks
that he can now do just change everything, that he
