Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Grind, a Minnesota sports podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
What a day to be alive to be a Minnesota
sports fan. This podcast is called The Grind a Minnesota
sports Fan, and there's a reason for it, because being
a Minnesota sports fan is an absolute grind. Every day

(00:28):
you wake up and you have no idea what you're
about to get hit with. And yesterday, August thirteenth, the
Minnesota Twins' owners hit us with an absolute beauty, A

(00:49):
beauty that I would say isn't even surprising.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
It's sad, it's depressing. Let's read it together. A letter
from the poll Ad family.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
For more than four decades, our family has had the
privilege of owning the Minnesota Twins. This franchise has become
part of our family story, as it has for our employees,

(01:27):
our players, this community, and Twins fans everywhere. Over the
past several months, we explored a wide range of potential
investment and ownership opportunities. Our focus throughout has been on
what's best for the long term future of the Twins.

(01:50):
We have been fully open to all possibilities. After a
detailed and robust process, our family will remain the principal
owner of the Minnesota Twins.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
To strengthen the club in.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
A rapidly evolving sports landscape, one that demands strong partnerships,
fresh ideas, and long term vision. We are in the
process of adding two significant limited partnership.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Groups, each of whom will.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Bring a wealth of experience and share our family values.
We see and hear the passion from our partners, the
community and Twins fans. That passion inspires us. This ownership
group is committed to building a winning team and culture

(02:52):
for this region, one that Twins fans are proud to
cheer for. A letter from the poll Aad family to
the Star Tribune. Just when you think the poll AADs
couldn't get any more poll ad, they do something like

(03:14):
this and perform another action that describes the poll AADs
dumb assery and the Minnesota Twins Ownership Group will remain

(03:34):
with two limited partners and that's the letter that they share.
Let's break down this letter. A few things stick out
to me. We have been open to all possibilities, but
right before that, it says our focus throughout has been
on what's best for the long term future of the Twins.

(03:59):
That the biggest pile of garbage that you could ever
read anywhere, because their best option and their focus has
been on what is best for the pole Ad family,

(04:24):
as it.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Would be for anybody.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
If they received and offered that they wanted from another
ownership group trying to take control of the Twins, they
would not be owners of the Minnesota Twins today, and
they would not be doubling down on their ownership as
the Twins. And another part sticks out to me in

(04:56):
this place in this in this written piece by their agent,
it says, we hear the passion from our partners, the
community and Twins fans.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
The ownership group is.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Committed to building a winning team and culture for this region,
one that Twins fans are proud.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
To cheer for. Disgusting, no way.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Stock. That's what every Minnesota Twins fan thinks of this
letter from the pole Ads.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
It stinks And.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
For years it's been when will the pole Ad families sell?

Speaker 1 (05:45):
When will they sell?

Speaker 2 (05:46):
When can the Twins get a new ownership group that
isn't gonna slash payroll thirty million dollars after winning a
playoff series for the first time in twenty years.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Well, it's not going to be today or tomorrow or
very soon. It would appear and It's frustrating.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
To see the pole Ads list the team for sale,
create a glimmer of hope and the fans' minds, and
then to back off of it when they didn't get
the offer that they were hoping to land. But now

(06:35):
you look at what's next for the Twins? What's next?
What is the goal now for the Twins? What can
we expect as fans? And there is only one way
Twins fans are going to forgive. They won't forget. Only

(06:57):
one way Twins fans will forgive is if these minority owners,
these minority partners, these new limited partners bring a whole
bunch of dough to the plate. It says we are

(07:17):
in the process of adding two significant limited partnership groups,
each of whom will bring a wealth of experience and
share our family values. I don't really care if they
bring a wealth of experience as long as they bring
a wealth And what are the pole Ad family values?

(07:41):
Is that available? What are the pole Ad family values?
Is it to make as much money as possible. The
pole Add family core values instilled by Carl and Elouise
pull Add are integrity, humility, empathy, respond effect.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Teamwork, and involvement.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Okay, those are good family values, but where are they
in the empathy value? A deep understanding of others experiences
and perspectives is a cornerstone of their values. They are
about to understand completely how Minnesota Twins fans are feeling

(08:32):
the rest of the season when the ballpark is empty.
Twins attendance this year has been poor. The only really
big attendance they had was when Nelly appeared and performed
after a game. But they have angered the Twins fan.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Base so much that there is no trust left.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
But I will say this, when you're an owner of anything,
you can do whatever the hell you want.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
And the poll Ads have.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
Made it very clear that they are going to do
whatever the hell they want. They have made it clear
that they don't give a rip what you think or
how you think the club should be run.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
They are going to do whatever they.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Want because they have fu money and they have been
performing as owners that have f you money for the
last two years. Twenty months ago, the Twins won their
first series in twenty years, and now payroll was got slashed.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
And I don't fully.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Disagree with their decision to trade everybody because the Twins
weren't going anywhere this year, and actually after they traded everybody,
the team actually became more entertaining, more blue collar, more
focused on the tiny details, and it's actually been entertaining
baseball to watch or to follow. Shipping Carlos Korea wasn't

(10:23):
the wrong decision, but with that being said, you can't
go into next season without paying players this winter, you
need to find attractive players that want to play for
a paycheck on the Minnesota Twins, and you've got to

(10:47):
give them a paycheck worth coming to Minnesota four. And
with that being said, we also have to remember our
last championship in Minnesota was nine and nineteen eighty seven.
The pole AADs different pole ads, but the poleads so

(11:12):
as frustrating as it is to see these stories continue,
hopefully they've felt so much anger towards them, and hopefully
they will feel the disappointment in the ticket sales and

(11:34):
the season memberships not being renewed that it will actually
make them want to do something significant that they'll actually
look to add players via free agency or trade this offseason.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
To bring in legitimate ballplayers.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
And they did pay Carlos Korea, so I'm sure that's
what they're saying, we pay college crea, we did pay players,
we did bring people in, is still slash the payroll
by thirty million dollars. You let your best arms walk
out the window, and baseball is heavily reliant on having
arms that can pitch, and then this is what we're

(12:19):
left with. So hopefully things change in a positive direction
for the Minnesota Twins with these new minority owners. Hopefully
they're bringing their wealth to the table and can buy
some players. Dallas Turner, the Minnesota Vikings first round pick

(12:46):
from last season, had an underwhelming rookie campaign, and throughout
the offseason we've seen so many different reports of how
he just looks quick and fast and big and huge
and strong and tough like the first round pick that
you drafted him to be. And he's had a lot

(13:08):
of hype this off season. And Paul Allen, the voice
of the Vikings who's been on this show number of times.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Voiced some.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Interesting thoughts about Dallas Turner on his KFA and radio
show nine to Noon. But first, let me tell you
about five Star bath Solutions of Minneapolis, because they transformed
our bathroom in forty eight hours, and that's their promise
for you. Five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis remodeled our floor,
our shower, our tub, our surround, our sinks. We went

(13:46):
from a single to a double, our vanity, countertops, and mirror,
all in forty eight hours. We did not have to
cram into our teeny tiny bathroom for eight weeks while
this project got done. We had our master bathroom done
finished benitole in forty eight hours. If you have a

(14:08):
bathroom model you want done, call five Star Bath Solutions
of Minneapolis. They offer free consultations and affordable payment plans.
Five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis. Okay, Dallas Turner.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Paul Allen.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Here's what Pa had to say about Dallas Turner. What
do you do with Dallas Turner? I'm just gonna lay
it out like that. What do you do with Dallas Turner?
Where do you play him? How much do you play him?
Do you care that he was a first round pick?
Do you care that Gabriel Murphy is out performing him

(14:50):
in training camp and the Texans game? Do you care
that O'Connell came into the Texans game really really excited
to watch the Dallas Turner performance. I certainly can't say
the head coach of the Vikings thought it was a
bad performance.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
I wouldn't know.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
I just know that there wasn't a lot said about
Turner after the Texans game, and there was a lot.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Said about Gabe Murphy.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
So I guess that would be the potential proverbial dark
cloud on the horizon. Paul Allen is the voice of
the Vikings and he doesn't say stuff or reports stuff
like this unless it has substantial value or truth. And

(15:40):
he said it about Aaron Rodgers all offseason. He said
he ain't coming here. There's no chance either. Reporters disagreed
with that with their sources and said there was a
legitimate conversation about Aaron Rodgers being a part of the
Vikings organization. Paul Allen refused, refuted that claim, said no chance.
And he said no chance because he has relationships with

(16:01):
people within that Vikings organization as well, and whoever he
talked to, he felt one hundred percent confidence that Aaron
Rodgers would not be a Viking player. With that being said,
he is not getting this Dallas Turner information out of nowhere.

(16:22):
There is somebody that told Paul Ellen something that Dallas
Turner underperformed, not only in the first preseason game, but
has been underperforming in training camp to the point where
Gabriel Murphy, a player that wasn't even drafted, has been

(16:49):
out performing him in training camp and in preseason. And
if you are a Vikings decision maker, you are very
concerned about this. And this is the beauty of being
a first round pick. A first round pick is going
to get opportunity after opportunity after opportunity to prove that

(17:11):
they were worth a first round pick, a first round selection,
And Kevin O'Connell and QUESSI are going to give Dallas
Turner every chance and then some to prove that he
was worth being selected there because if he's a bust,

(17:32):
it makes them look bad. If he stinks and can't play,
it makes the decision makers look terrible.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
So what are the decision makers going to do.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
They're going to go out of their way to make
sure Dallas Turner has every opportunity to play. The player
that they traded several picks for is going to get
every opportunity to play so that he can make them
look good. And the first few statements by Paul Allen
are really the statements that stand out to me. What

(18:03):
do you do with Dallas Turner. I'm just gonna lay
it out like that. What do you do with Dallas Turner?
Where do you play him? How much do you play him?
The dude is supposed to be a blitzing defensive end,
but he is being outperformed by Gabriel Murphy and others
on the Vikings organization. And don't show me any more
of these pictures of how fast and how quick and

(18:26):
how strong he is entering training camp, because all of
those things are just sexy, meaningless, and so far, Dallas
Turner has not lived up to the hype of being
a first round drafted rookie who the Vikings traded multiple

(18:53):
picks to trade up for.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
And the worst Vikings draft.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
Class maybe in the history of their organization, was twenty
twenty two. There's two players left on the roster, Ty
Chandler and Jayleen Naylor. Three years ago, twenty twenty four,
they drafted Jaj McCarthy, who were not sure about yet
he's unknown, and Dallas Turner, two first round picks. If

(19:20):
these guys flame out, twenty twenty two might have some competition.
Twenty twenty four might take the place of twenty twenty
two and become one of the worst drafts in Vikings history.
If these guys don't play well, if these guys are busts,
and all I'm saying is when PA says something like this,

(19:41):
if he is going to go on his show and
be this vocal about players not performing to the degree
that they should be, PA is going to have patience
with everything that is negative revolving around the Vikings because
sees the voice of the Vikings. I'm sure he didn't

(20:02):
just wake up one morning and say, I'm gonna bash
Jealous Turner. I'm gonna, I'm gonna I'm gonna throw out
some shade his direction because I feel like it and
I have the power and the voice to do it. No,
he was told something by someone within the Vikings organization
that Dallas Turner is underperforming and that Gabrielle Murphy is

(20:29):
playing better than him and practice and in preseason. So
something to keep an eye on and something that's concerning.
Let me tell you about Hulkland Farms beef because they
have the best one hundred percent rotationally grazed grass fed
beef beef, good beef, financially responsible beef, and responsible eating too.

(20:54):
Hulkland Farms beef. You look at their prices per pound
for steaks, chuck, roast, Hamberger ribs, and more, and it's
like over four dollars a pound barely. You go to
the grocery store for the same stuff, it's like nine
to ten dollars a pound. Hulkland Farms Beef makes the

(21:15):
most sense. Contact Jared at nine five two four nine
