Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome into the grind. This is NFL Takes Edition, and
today we are gonna be discussing the Indianapolis Cult's decision
to name Daniel Jones the starting quarterback over Anthony Richardson,
whom they just drafted a few years ago. It's practically
the end of the Anthony Richardson era in Indianapolis, or

(00:25):
is it? On this podcast, I'm gonna explain why Anthony
Richardson might actually have an advantage over Daniel Jones. I
know it's crazy, I know it's ridiculous, but stay with
me and let me explain myself because it's true. And
I'm gonna explain why in a little bit. But first

(00:48):
I need you to check out Five Star Bath Solutions
of Minneapolis because they transformed our bathroom in forty eight hours.
If you need a new bathroom model, big projects, small projects,
contact five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis because they transformed
our entire thing. New floors, new bathtub, new shower, new surround.

(01:11):
We went from a single to a double sink, a
new vanity, countertops, and mirror, all done in forty eight hours.
Why wait eight weeks for a bathroom project to get done?
What a bathroom project can get done in forty eight hours,
free consultations, affordable payment plans, five star bath solutions of Minneapolis.

(01:33):
All right, Shane Steiken declayers the quarterback of the Indianapolis Cults,
names Daniel Jones the starter. Daniel Jones formerly the Vikings backup,
but before that was the Giants starting quarterback. And here's

(01:55):
what Shane Steiken had to say about Daniel Jones is laughable.
He's the starting QB for this season. I don't want
to have a short leash on that. See how that
was laughable. This is one of the most laughable quotes

(02:16):
that you could ever read from a head coach. This
is as laughable as the Broncos naming Tim Tebow quarterback
three or quarterback four on their roster and then making
him the starter the following week. Daniel Jones will not

(02:42):
be the starter for the entire season for the Colts organization.
And here's why. Shane Steichen is entering his third season
as the Colts head coach. His first season was nine
to eight. You could call that a very successful campaign

(03:04):
because first season as a head coach, your goal isn't
necessarily to win a Super Bowl, but to create that
winning culture, to create a culture of doing more of winning,
a winning mentality, whatever the case may be, things like

(03:25):
that season two, Shane Steiken goes eight to nine. Shane
Steiken is entering his third season as Colts head coach.
Do you want to know what the average length of
a head coach is in the National Football League three seasons?

(03:47):
Do you know who Shane steikn put his money on
as future quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts, Anthony Richardson. If
the Colts start and they face ov against the Miami
Dolphins and then they play the Denver Broncos next, if

(04:08):
they start out zero to three, one and four, there
is going to be so much pressure mounting on Shane
Styke and forced by management of the Colts to start
Anthony Richardson. Then he will have no choice but to
start Anthony Richardson. And who's everybody's favorite quarterback? On teams

(04:34):
that have situations like the Colts where it's not necessarily
a situation where there's a quarterback that's head and shoulders
above everybody else, everybody's favorite player is the backup quarterback.
Just give them a chance, throw him in there, mix

(04:55):
it up. We stink we need a shift, We need
something different. Anthony richards has got the speed and elusiveness
and he allows different explosive plays to happen that Daniel
Jones just can't provide. There's going to be so much
pressure mounting on Shanesteichen that he will have no choice

(05:18):
but to start Anthony Richardson at some point this season
if the Colts stink, and in all likelihood, the Colts
are going to stink. I don't think anyone is sitting

(05:39):
here today predicting that the Indianapolis Colts are gonna run
through the Jaguars, the Titans, and the Houston Texans. You
look at predictions everywhere and almost everybody has the Houston
Texans winning that division. And it's not like you're looking

(06:00):
at a situation where, well, Daniel Jones is the top
ten quarterback and then they're gonna put in his back.
These guys are side and side by side, neck and neck.
So although Daniel Jones was named the starter, it will
eventually become Anthony Richardson's team this season. Because when you

(06:24):
have quarterbacks that are so similar in talent, what happens
is the first guy starts off the season. Okay, eventually stinks,
the team can't win, players have no belief, and what
do you do. You shake up the locker room, you
mix it up, you put in the backup. He re

(06:44):
energizes everybody for about one to two weeks, and then
everybody falls fat on their face again. But the point
that I'm making is Shane Steichen is not going to
somehow fun a secret skill that could never be revealed

(07:05):
about Daniel Jones throughout his NFL career. When Daniel Jones
was with the Giants, it's not like he was stuck
with a defensive minded head coach who didn't have any offensive,
unique play design and wasn't allowed to thrive. His last season.
He was coached by Brian Dabele. And what did Brian

(07:28):
Dabeles say, Yeah, we don't want you anymore. We're done
with you. We can't do this anymore. Brian Dabele people
view very highly because of his work with Josh Allen,
and he's this offensive minded guru. So you look at

(07:50):
Daniel Jones in his career and his success throughout his career,
It's not like Shane Sdyken is going to unwrap some
part of Daniel Jones that we've never seen before. It's
not like there's a part of Daniel Jones's game that's
just waiting to flourish under the right circumstance, because he's

(08:15):
been under the right circumstance multiple times. He is with
Brian Dable in New York. He wasn't a starting quarterback
with Minnesota, but he was under the tutelage of Kevin O'Connell.
So let's not pretend as if Shane Steichen, who is

(08:37):
thought of very highly as a former offensive coordinator of
the Philadelphia Eagles, let's not pretend as if he's the
only offensive minded head coach that Daniel Jones has been
surrounded by, because he's been surrounded by offensive head coaches
throughout his entire career. So eventually, what's gonna happen is

(08:57):
Shane Steiken is going to feel the pressure mounting from
management and from players and coaches, and eventually he's going
to pull the plug on Daniel Jones. And truthfully, it
would have been the same way, the same scenario if
he named Anthony Richardson QB one. Richardson eventually would have

(09:21):
been benched for Daniel Jones. If Richardson was named the
starting quarterback Week one. So if you're Anthony Richardson today,
I'm sure it's disappointing, But dude, don't give up hope,
because there is going to be a time when you're
the starting quarterback of the Giants this season. Because Shaneesdyken

(09:44):
found out for himself that Daniel Jones can't be the guy.
Isn't the guy? So I mean, and Daniel Jones is
from his perspective, he's hoping, maybe this is the year
that I have a successful season and then can get

(10:05):
a big contract somewhere else Paul off of Sam Darnold
like he did with Minnesota. But in all likelihood, Daniel
Jones is going to play poorly. Fans management are going
to be screaming for Anthony Richardson. Just give him a chance,

(10:28):
allow him to use his legs, and Anthony Richardson will
be put in the game. So I see quotes like
this from Stiking, he's the starting quarterback for the season.
I don't want to have a short leash on that. Okay,
I'll believe it when I see a big guy, because
when you're in a situation like Stiking is, it's not

(10:52):
like he's coming off a season where he was twelve
and five or thirteen and four. It's not like he's
coming off a season where he won the division and
had a playoff. But it's not like he's coming off
a winning season. Okay, he's coming off a losing eight
to nine season. And this is a league where coaches

(11:15):
are fired on average after their third season. So what's
he going to do to try to potentially save his
own ass? Is put in Anthony Richardson at some point
during the NFL season. So cool it, Shaneesdeiken, because in

(11:37):
that moment, Shane Steikin, you were being a lying sack
of potatoes. Daniel Jones our guy all season, no short leash. Huh,
we'll see. We'll see about that. Thanks for joining the show.
