Speaker 1 (00:01):
A no beay, even when times geitheard and you feel
you're in the c see just how beautiful life can
be when you saffen your heart, you can finally start
(00:27):
to live your to serious life.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Hello everybody, and welcome back to the Truthius Life. It's
your host, Lisa Haim And like I said in a
previous episode, I'm using the Truthius Life for now to
hop on when I have something to share, either a
solo episode, information on a new offering, interview with somebody
that I just am like so fueled to have. Basically,
when that like creative and like I need to express
(00:53):
myself is just coming from my throat chakra, I'm going
to be using this platform. So for today, I'm just
on to share with you a special March offering that
I'm going to be putting out. So in today's episode,
I'm going to take you through what the program is,
where I got the inspiration from the creation process that
(01:13):
has gone into it, giving you like a lot of
behind the scenes that I have never done before, and
share basically how this program kind of like I channeled it,
like it came through my vehicle once I got clear
when I was on vacation not trying to work. I
feel like there's been so many valuable lessons in what
(01:33):
has been an otherwise kind of stale long season of
my life business creation wise, and perhaps if you're somebody
who's stuck there not in mind body connection, which we're
going to talk about, you know what that feels like
to just feel like utterly exhausted, wanting to put something out,
but like your brain just feels so tired. And that's
kind of where I've been for a long time. I'll
(01:56):
share some personal stories as to how I kind of
arrived here, and ultimately share about the program, which is
coming up in just a few days or already happening,
depending on when you're listening to this episode. Okay, so first,
the behind the scenes story of the creation. So I've
put out lots of programs online before, and I never
share the behind the scenes. But for some reason, when
(02:19):
I was on vacation last week in Florida, I started
to share that like an idea was coming through me,
and I shared that on my Instagram stories, and I
got a lot of people being like, can you share
more about your process? For whatever reason, not necessarily true,
A lot of these people saw me further in my
career than they are. I in no way really see
it like that, but I think if people see that
(02:41):
I am able to create things that they don't know
where to start with, I definitely want to provide some
insight into my process, especially because I think it's a
bit atypical and a little bit crazy. I think a
lot of people are not necessarily a lot of successful
people are not necessarily creative, and therefore their ideas stem
(03:02):
from their brain. For me, my ideas kind of like
stem from my body. So I do have a lot
of ideas that I have a list running that I
want to maybe accomplish in my life. Like they're really
good ideas. I look at them and I'm like, yes,
that would do well, Yes, that would do well, Yes
that would do well, Yes that's needed, that one would
make a lot of money, that one would serve the community.
(03:24):
But when it comes to like how do I execute
it and put it into play, I have no energy
behind it, and so I just kind of shelf them
for a little bit. And I'm really comfortable with that,
knowing like they're not fully abandoned, but they're sitting pretty here.
Some of them will never see the light of day,
some of them maybe will. But what happens for me
(03:45):
is like once I get an idea, it like storms
through my body. So it's not a brainstorm, it's like
a body storm. And when this happens is typically when
I'm not trying, and that's what happened when I was
on vacation recently. Typically when on vacation, I'm connected with
the elements that reconnect my mind and body really fast,
(04:05):
connect me to source, like I've been talking about, that
universal energy, that higher self of me. And when there's
ocean sun, a break from just like where I live,
the orchestration within my body that happens just kind of
flickers on. I will also mention that I was just
in Florida and spending time with my friend dearah Kaplan
(04:26):
Derek Kay on Instagram, who I do post a lot
because she's been such a game changer for me. She's
always in motion, she's always a force, she's always connected
to her gut. She's such a strong woman and super
successful in everything that she does. And whenever I'm with her,
I shift into this gear a little bit more. And
so it's important to have your people right that like
(04:47):
are in flow or can help you find your flow,
and that energy is really creative. And that's also why
i'm sharing this today, because I want somebody listening to
feel the energy that is spinning through me and either
on that or take from it or whatever. I feel
like it's infinite, so go ahead and take some of
what I'm pouring out right now and allow that to
land within your body. So while I was in Florida
(05:09):
late February, I got this idea and I'm like, I
want to do this in March. That is not very
forward thinking, but it is the way things come through me.
And it's not like I want to do it in March.
It's like, for whatever reason, this is coming through me
for March. If I were to sit on this for
April and may like this energetic wave that's going through
me would be lost. As I'm saying this all I'm
(05:30):
thinking that perhaps the reason I haven't shared it is
because it sounds a little bit more out there, and
I don't know spiritual is the right word, but I
think I'm a little bit afraid maybe for people to
see me as this more spiritual, energetic person. Maybe that's
because my academics come from being a registered dietitian and
(05:52):
school and I worked so hard to go to Columbia
University to get my master's in nutrition in Exercise Physiology
that I think, like, while I was in those years
of my life, like I wanted to be seen as
such a scientific person and such a brain smart person,
and I was able to quote unquote pull that off.
(06:12):
But like, that's not necessarily the true me. The real
me is energetic, she's intuitive, she can hear people's thoughts.
But you may or may not know about me. I've
said it on a podcast before, and some of my
personal friends are like, Okay, that's crazy. When I am witchy,
I'm witchy, and when I am witchy, I feel really
(06:34):
good because it means I'm working with the energy of
the universe, not against it. So anyway, this is the
real me. I'm stripping back the layers. I'm showing her
to you. I'm showing you the different layers of me,
and I'm also showing them to myself. So I said
twenty twenty four was going to be a big year
for me, and a big year for me is really
getting honest with myself, even if it means losing people listeners,
(06:57):
followers along the way. What really cool for me is
I have realized that money does not fuel me in
the way that it might fuel somebody else. Money is
obviously important to live, and it comes from a privileged
place to be able to say that, but I know
that putting money first does not fuel me in a
(07:19):
way that sustains me. So this offering particularly is really
about like reaching the people it needs to reach. Cam't
metreat is coming up in about a month, and I've
had a lot of applicant calls, many of which who
panned out in are coming WOU and a lot of
incredible people who initially thought they could come and then
(07:41):
went through like job layoffs or just really took a
look at their finances and decided this isn't the best
time for them. And so in creating this I also
kept them and them who I did not speak to
in mind because I want to be serving them. I
had the most enriching conversations with many people who ended
up not being able to make it, and I truly
(08:01):
hope that they join this program because I want to
be spending time with them. It's not just beneficial to
me and to them, it will be beneficial to me
to be in their incredible presence. So that's kind of
where it comes from. And like I said, March is
like a couple days away. It's not the most strategic,
but this is how I roll, and I really trust
(08:23):
that the right people will find this program and I
see it as a pilot of something that could be
really incredible and something that can be replicated. But for now,
it's just going to be March at this offering. So
my process going back to that, my process is I
get usually like the name for something. I love naming things,
(08:45):
whether it's the podcast, programming for the noise can't Me
treat the truthiest life? Naming things really helps me kind
of like start from the top and then trickle down.
I know a lot of people work different where it's
like here's the content and then what's the name. But
once I get the name, I kind of feel like
an energy behind it and that sets the tone for
(09:06):
what I'm putting out. So the name came to me,
and it's not the name that I ended up working with,
but the name helped inform the content, and then once
the content was more fleshed out, what are we actually
going to be doing providing who are we serving, what's
the purpose, what's going to resonate with people? Then I
move back up and change the name. Sometimes I work
(09:28):
with graphic designers who can help me kind of figure
out the visual. But for this program, like I said,
I'm keeping it low cost. I made the visuals myself
on CANBA. They're not the most fantastic, but they get
the point across, and they too helped me kind of
like figure out what's the vibe and the energy frequency
that we are putting out here. So the name has changed,
but the concept still stays the same, and I'm just
(09:50):
going to finish up my process really quick and then
move to like what it actually is. But the process
itself is a little bit like a crazy person. I
have multiple notebooks because if I get idea, I have
to write it down, and I really like paper to
pen If I have no notebook, I'll use the note
section of my phone. Some ideas, unfortunately, find me in
the middle of the night, and if I don't roll
over to write them down or put them in my phone,
(10:11):
I lose them. You just have to be okay with
that and keep rolling. And then I go to a
giant like poster board where I get a marker and
I just go crazy with words and it just starts
like flowing through me. Like I said, like I become
the vehicle. If I try too hard from the brain,
nothing comes out. If I open my channels, And oftentimes
(10:32):
that means like not sitting with the paper first, It
means doing yoga, meditation, pranayama. Once I'm open, cannot force it.
If I put any pressure on it can't do anything.
Then I get back to the paper and just start
It just starts coming through me. So that's kind of
where we're at. The name has changed a bunch of times,
and the format has kind of come together in a
really beautiful way. And now I will tell you a
(10:54):
little bit about this program, the origin of it, and
specifically like what it is and why. Let's start with
the origin as a lot of you know, the last
(11:15):
few years really rocked me and specifically my nervous system.
I will say things on here that won't necessarily go online.
But in the last couple of years, between the COVID pandemic,
a family's addiction relapse, the storm that flooded my house
that gave me complete PTSD, pregnancy loss, and some other
(11:35):
unspoken things. The straw that broke the camel's back was
my daughter's rapid onset intense illness recurrent hospitalizations both January
and April of last year. It's very likely that you
got a front row seat to seeing me crack. You
might have watched me online and said this girl's loss.
(11:57):
Maybe you felt that, maybe you didn't. I usually kind
of tuck myself away when I don't have that full energy.
But needless to say, I've been pretty open about, you know,
taking a lot of time offline and coming back from
this new place, so hopefully you've seen my evolution. But
the hospitalizations themselves was kind of just like put my
nervous system in a complete state of all three of fight,
(12:20):
flight and freeze in all different ways, and ultimately I
felt like a tornado hit me. I was exhausted and
doing very basic simple tasks was really challenging for me.
I lead a podcast called The Truthiest Life. I have
courses that are all about fostering the mind body connection
when it comes to listening to your body with food,
(12:42):
but when it came to my daily life, I lost
my mind body connection. I just felt so meek and
not connected to my source, and so I followed my
intuition which led me to putting my head down and
showing up to my men, to community, local teachers. Thank
you Erica Fasari for being such a huge part of
(13:05):
putting me back together last year, and I re began
to study and immerse myself in mindfulness, breath work, yoga.
As many of you know, I went back and did
another Yoga two hundred training with Yoga Shanti, which emphasizes
the nervous system and respecting your body's anatomy, and intense
yoga philosophy study which is super enriching and pairs perfectly
(13:29):
with mindfulness and applying these principles to our lives. Almost
a full year later since the second hospitalization, I feel
like I'm a new person, and I'm so grateful for
everything that I've gone through because I have practices and
teachings which have equipped me to awaken again. I would
(13:50):
describe who I was before as last year as being
in a really exhausted trance, and hopefully you could hear
feel that there's an awakened energy to me. There is
more regulation to my nervous system. I mean, it's a
daily practice to return to that and the same thing
to my awakening. Please don't hear this as I wake
(14:11):
up like this every day. But most importantly, I am
so deeply connected to my embodied wisdom that I had
lost and become disconnected to. And I really want to
emphasize that this is part of life. Becoming lost and
found with yourself is part of that. But what I'm
most grateful for was the teachings that I landed upon
(14:36):
and the safe spaces that I found to unravel, ask questions,
get further lost, and ultimately reconnect self. So the purpose
of this program is to be that safe space for you.
You do not need to be going through something really
heavy and feel super lost to do this. There are
(14:58):
going to just be really just life enriching benefits to it.
If you are interested in mindfulness and returning to your
body and feeling good, or even if you just want
to do the yoga portion, which is on Sundays, we'll
get to the details, like just hop on. You could
take a little from this, you can take a lot.
There's so much individualization depending on where you're at, and
(15:19):
it really is a no man's left behind situation. You
do not need to be somebody who is a wellness
expert or guru, and you can be somebody who is
a wellness expert, has a meditation practice, haw's a yoga practice.
You could be anywhere on this spectrum. Now, let's get
to the program itself and I'll give you a little
bit more backstory as to why specifically I'm doing it
(15:39):
this way, which I've never done before. Okay, So the
official program name is Mind Body Mentorship with Lisa Haim.
That's me, hopefully you know that. And this is going
to be a live, virtual bi weekly group mindfulness and
(16:03):
somatic mentorship that reconnects the mind with the body to
awaken from the trance. So we're going to be meeting
twice a week live virtually on Zoom, and we're going
to be using a too pronged approach to reconnect to
our true selves, rewire the nervous system, and release blockages.
There are a lot of different ways to reconnect, and
(16:26):
the two that work best for me is that top
down approach mindfulness and meditation, and then the bottom up approach,
which are the somatic practices of connecting to your body's wisdom.
And also there's something really cool about the kind of
seems like opposite, and they are, but using both of them.
One putting your body into physical alignment, actually respecting your
(16:48):
body's anatomy, which we will do in the movement portion,
and then also allowing intuition and individual expression to exist.
So that's the two pronged approach. Tuesdays we're going to
be doing that top down approach, we're going to be
doing mindfulness, meditation, journaling, sharing within the group. And Sundays
is going to be the bottom up approach, doing yoga, movement,
(17:10):
breath work, and again, all of that is to release
the blockages, rewire the nervous system, and reconnect to your
true self. The mentorship what makes it a mentorship? This
is kind of like the distinguishing factor for me. Over
the course of the last six months, I've been in
a lot of trainings. I've done two and a half
I'm halfway through one of them right now. But I
(17:31):
have had the privilege of being a mentee in my
yoga teacher training and having an incredible mentor. And I
also took a program called the Mindfulness Mentor Training, which
teaches me how to be a mentor in the mindfulness space.
So let's start first with what being a mentee really
did for me, because that's really what opened my eyes
(17:53):
in my yoga teacher training. My mentor was this woman Sandy,
and I really leaned hard on Sand and she embraced
me with such warm, opening, nurturing vibes that allowed me
to feel so safe to ask questions and to grow
all without judgment and also without necessarily like telling me
(18:15):
the answer or coming from a holier than now place.
When I did have specific questions, she would share her
experiences and her wisdom. But a mentor and a mentee
relationship is very different than a teacher and a student.
And typically when I have shown up in my online
programs like Fork the Noise, I'm showing up as a teacher.
I have this information and I'm instilling it within you,
(18:36):
and we have a strict curriculum, and I've got to
get that done. With a mentorship. I come from the
belief that I am not the teacher. You are the
teacher of yourself, and I hope to awaken that inner
wisdom within you. Within the group setting, we lean a
lot more into the philosophy that the answers do not
lie in me, but rather in we. I'm going to
(18:59):
focus on being a guide and an active listener. So
while I'm going to show up to every Tuesday call
with a mindfulness theme to meditate on, journal on discuss,
the group is actually going to dictate where we go,
and that is going to be not something that we
can predict. So it has a lot of room for flowing,
which I think is really really cool, and it's going
(19:21):
to allow for natural, organic communication, conversation and whatever is
going on in the world. We all know that in
the last couple of years, it certainly feels extra heavy
in the world and things that we can't predict, and
there are intense current events going on, so sometimes we
have to lean into like what is active in the moment,
rather than sticking to this curriculum, which isn't helpful if
(19:43):
it's not applied to real life situations. This program does
not come from like a holier than now or even
like I'm healed and I'm better than you place. Yes,
it's inspired by the journey that I've been on in
the past year, but it it's not like I got
myself here and now I'm going to take you here.
It comes from a really like humble, soft place and
(20:07):
a part of me that knows that like life is
really hard, We're all facing challenges of different magnitudes and types,
and we need safe, nurturing spaces to unravel. We need
tools to put our feedback on the ground, we need
boots to put our feet in, and we need community
to help us learn more about ourselves. And sometimes we
(20:30):
need help regulating and reconnecting to our body's wisdom. Again,
so as a mentor in the Tuesday Calls, I'm going
to guide and draw from my own wisdom and experience,
but it's going to be a very collective experience that
draws on your own inner wisdom and hopefully amplifies that.
That's kind of the mentorship aspect of it, which is
going to be mostly on Tuesdays, but for the Sundays
(20:53):
when we move into the somatic and movement portion of it,
we'll also leave extra time at the end for community
conversation because as we do these practices, things may come
up and we're not going to leave anybody in a
raw state. It's not about just like yoga, move your body,
und'er out. It's like yoga, move your body, aligne shift,
(21:15):
express individualized user intuition to move the hnds, jump, scrap whatever,
and then you know, if you want to sign off,
you obviously can, but I'll stay back at least for
a little bit for any shares that people want to have,
and hopefully other people will have a little bit more
wiggle room. Both calls Tuesday and Sunday will be an
hour long, but for the Sunday call, specifically after the movement,
(21:37):
I'll be able to hang back for ten to fifteen
minutes for anybody that needs some mentoring or just a
safe space to stay. Why the nervous system emphasis, Well,
the nervous system is everything. It's sensitive, and its receptors
are brilliant, and they can guide us out of in
and out of danger to help us find safety. But sometimes,
(22:00):
as I've definitely learned these last few years, our nervous
system can get out of whack and we become no
longer able to distinguish what's real danger and what is safety.
And it doesn't take big trauma for this to happen.
Most of us are stuck in fight flight freeze, whether
we've gone through something that we can name that is
traumatic in any way or not. I think just being
(22:22):
on our phones a lot, being in go, go go.
A lot of us are just like ramped up. We
are not settling into stillness. And so the nervous systems
determine the quality of our lives. It's not the daily
events of our lives that determine the quality, right. Think
about the happiest people. You know, they're not necessarily people
(22:43):
that are in the most privileged situations, but something about
their minds and their bodies is working a little bit different,
and I think a lot of that comes to the
nervous system. When we're dysregulated, we're stuck in patterns and habits,
we are in a trance like state. Everything is just
las And when the nervous system is regulated, we feel safe, whole,
(23:04):
and vibrant. And hopefully we also achieve that without caffeine.
Kind of a side story how caffeine can confuse the
nervous system, but we'll table that for now. And so
my goal with this program is to regulate the nervous
system so that we can connect with our higher selves
and the universe. And I know that a lot of
this sounds I don't think I did a great job
really putting this into words, but I'm gonna put it here.
(23:27):
It sounds very like selfish, But when we are connected
with our higher self, that is when we have the
emotional and physical energy reserves available to serve the world
and be better humans. Ultimately, that is what wellness is
about for me, and I think that it's often missed
(23:47):
in the conversation of health and wellness and healing. It
feels very self focused, but the whole purpose is how
can we contribute to the world in a more meaningful way?
And when we are disconnected from ourselves, it not only
feels terrible for us, but we are not living up
to our potential of the impact that we can make.
And I don't mean impact like go ahead and change
(24:09):
the world and be part of politics and government and
all of that. Small changes in your community or just
being a better friend, daughter, sister, wife, mom, whatever is
really what it's all about. And sometimes we need that safe,
nurturing assistance. People place all of it like just a
safe container for us to refine ourselves. So I'm really
(24:34):
excited about this because I think it really draws on
all the different things that I have been learning, practicing, teaching, experiencing,
and it's kind of a perfect combination of everything that
I believe in understanding the mind and science and then
also really cultivating a connection back to the body. And
(24:54):
I kind of visualize it as like the body is
moving up and then the mind is moving down and
they find each other and they kind of like lock
into place, and from there this like lotus opens within
us and things start to flow. Who is it for?
The mentorship is for kind of everybody. I thought about
(25:17):
making this more specific and themed, like, for example, I
could have made this more focused on like food and body,
and maybe down the line we'll have monthly themes, but
for this one, I want to be focusing on more
general mindfulness themes and carry that through into the Sunday
practices as well. All ages are encouraged, as many of
(25:37):
you have heard me say, like I have benefited so
much from intergenerational sharing of wisdom. So if you're one
of who you classify yourself as an older listener of mine,
please we want to hear your wisdom. If you classify
yourself as someone who's younger, please we want to hear
what's going on in your world and possibly pick up
on some vitality that you're feeling, or even support you
(25:58):
through a journey that we might have been on. It's
from others. It's for non mothers. It's for those seeking
spiritual development and want to have some tools to better
navigate life. Those who are interested in having a community
of like minded people and are looking for that safe
space to have it, those willing and wanting to connect
to their body's wisdom again to awaken that life force
(26:21):
within us and make possible life changes to reflect what
stirred up. And for those looking for tools to support
their nervous system through meditation, breath, yoga, or movement. This
does not replace therapy of any kind. And yeah, if
this is speaking to you, it's likely for you. I
did my best to consider West coasters. They often get
(26:43):
feedback from people on the West Coast that are like,
please do this at times that work for us, And
it's hard to find times for both East and West
that work. But Tuesdays are going to be eight pm
Eastern Standard time, so that's five in the West coast,
and then Sundays are going to be ten am East
and seven West. Replays are going to be available, So
if you can't make those exact times, you still should
(27:06):
sign up if you want to benefit from any of it.
I will not be recording personal Share, so that will
be cut out of the replays. The replays will be
available for a limited time, and the price is just
like stupid. It's fifty dollars for the entire month, and
there's eight plus hours of content that we're going to
be had, So that comes to six dollars and twenty
(27:28):
five cents a class. So even if you sign up
for that and just do the yoga, you're just getting
a really cheap yoga class. I encourage you, if you're
doing the membership, to show up to as much as possible,
but if that doesn't work for you, that's totally fine too.
And then there's a dropping class. So if you want
to drop in to one class for the entire month,
(27:48):
that's thirty five dollars. If you want to do two,
it's thirty five times two, which in that case it
makes more sense to do the membership. So if you
find this episode later into March and you're interested in
jumping on, it's not too late, and you can still
do the membership at any time that it makes financial
sense for you. Obviously, if it's like the last Sunday
of March, that's not going to make much sense, but
(28:10):
you get what I'm saying there. So we are going
to have limited spots available. This is going to be intimate.
But I'm really really excited about this, and I think
it has a lot of potential to be something that
I run in the future, and if it's not, it
was just a pilot and a good time. But I
think that there's such value in live content, in community share,
(28:31):
and for whatever reason that this is like being channeled
through me. I just feel very strongly that this is
going to land with the exact people that need it
and going to be something really powerful and the perfect
way for me to transition into Camp Me treat which
is immediately following after this, where I am going to
be showing up as a leader, and I feel like
(28:53):
I'm just going to be in the right spiritual place
and deep connection to self to really show up as
an embodied and not just using my brain when things
come through my body and my soul, Like that's the
best me, and that is who I want to bring
to Mexico, because like all things that I do, I
want to bring the truthiest version and the version of
(29:14):
me that is the most open and receptive to hearing
listening and serving in a way that meets people where
they're at. So I'm really excited and I'll put this
in the show notes below for anybody who is interested.
If you have any questions, you know where to find me,
