Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, so we are back on the Way concept
(00:02):
presented by The Ring magazine to talk about Canelo versus
Crawford once.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Again, the fight of the year, the biggest fight of
the year. It's about two am in Manchester and I
still cannot get enough of this fight.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
But today I want to talk about the reaction that's
happened after Canelo.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Brought Jerom Boots and it's into camp and was sparring him.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
And there's so many rumors that have flown around since
then from Canelo bringing Boots in means he's automatically gonna
be Terrence Budd Crawford to well, Boots apparently whipped up
on Canelo and made him quit after three rounds, so
that means Bud Crawford's gonna beat Canelo. And now we
even have bow Mack, Terrence Crawford's trainer, coming out and
saying that's spar with Boots don't mean shit. So clearly
(00:40):
this is evolving.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Today.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
I want to speak on that a little bit because
we're just weeks away from a boxing event that's going
to change boxing.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Forever, and I'm gonna explain why. So let's take a look.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
At some interviews let's react to some things and let's
break down this Canelo Crawford fight. We're gonna do it
so many times over the next couple of weeks, but
who really cares?
Speaker 2 (00:58):
So the breakdown let's go all right. Number one, this drawn.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
Boots Ennis and Canelo spar can we dispel a couple
of things right away? Number one, I have seen people
say that Duran Boots and it's going to spar and
Rashidi Ellis, by the way, who is also sparring Canelo
right now. Rashidi Eellis is a monster in his own right.
I think he's something like twenty seven and one. We
all know what Drawan Boots in this is. He is
gonna be one of the biggest names potentially has the
(01:26):
most likelihood to rule over the one fifty four division.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
I know Virgil Ortiz is.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
Theirs andres aias as well, but one fifty four. If
Bud is done there and he's not coming back, I
think we would all love to see Boots Nis versus
Bud Crawford. But if that's not going to be the case.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
Then Boots may take that division over.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
What I'm trying to make is this is good sparring
for Canelo, and that's all it should really be looked
at as honestly like it should.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yes, tell you that Canelo is taking Bud.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Crawford seriously, and it's not like he hasn't taken another
fight seriously.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
In the past.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
It just feels like over the last couple of years,
Canelo has either gotten disinterested or lost his spa ass
ball a little bit. When it comes to the opponents.
He's fighting at one hundred and sixty eight pounds. Now,
most of those guys walk around at two hundred pounds
and they are monsters that come down to one sixty
eight and that makes knocking them out and having these
massively spectacular performances a little less likely.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
And I'm not trying to run excuses here for Canelo.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
The point I'm trying to make is it does look
like the fire is back with Canelo.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
It does look like he.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Respects Terrence Crawford to the point where he is willing
to go out and get, regardless of their big name
or not, some of the best guys that he can
bring in to his camp. And also there's the mind
games aspect, though it's pretty well known now in the
boxing world that Boots Ennis and Bud Crawford was to
fight a lot.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Of people wanted and Bud chose to go to one.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Sixty eight and fight Canelo versus fighting Boots coming up
two point fifty four, and there is that interaction between
the two of them all the way back. I think
in Los Angeles the four Bud Crofford was gonna fight Madramov.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yeah, is this right here? I thus she wasn't gonna
watch him.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
There was It was just Budd saying I thought she
wasn't gonna watch it, talking about he is gonna watch
the Madromoff and Bud fight. But that's that's been the
long rumored fighting.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Some people, not me.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
I would never say this, but some people have said
that Bud avoided Jeron Boots Innis to go and fight
Canelo at sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
So could be a potential mind gameplay from Canelo to say, you.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Know what, I got the guy that you didn't want
to fight to come and inspire me to prepare for you.
And he has on one of a similar style and
he can do a lot of the things that you
can do, maybe not on the same level.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
I'm not sitting here trying to tell.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
You that Boots Innis is as good or is the
same fighter as Bud Crawford.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
That would be crazy to say. Right, all those things,
by the way.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Can be true that Canelo wanted an advantage in the
mind games, right, he wanted to kind of play some
games with Bud and see if he would take the
bait and get a little nervous that he was, you know,
bringing in the Russidi Ellis's and the Geron Boots in
it is to spar And also, yes, I think Bud
is far and away good enough to threaten Canelo to
beat Canelo. And if Canelo shows up in William Skull fashion,
then that fight's not gonna go well for him. So yeah,
(03:54):
he probably up the level this time around to be
extra prepared for a guy he needs to be extra
prepared for in Bud Crawford. Now we're gonna get Bo
Mack and Terrence Crawford's reaction to what they.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Think of Duran Boots and it's coming into the camp.
But I don't like this.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Idea online that Jiron is some sort of like turncoat
for going in there and sparring Canelo. That's a that's
a weird online thing that I'm seeing everywhere that people
are upset.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
How could he do that to Bud?
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Like Boots Innis and their family has known Canelo and
sparred with Canelo for years.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I saw a video online of.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Canelo sparring Boots his brother Derek Innis thirteen years ago.
Nellie Steinbeck recorded this for E News Reporting thirteen years ago.
Canelo and Derek sparring should work, by the way, in
front of the media.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
It's just something you don't see a lot.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
But my point for bringing this up is that this
is not unfamiliar territory. I don't remember people saying that
when Canelo sparred Derek Andnis it was a bad idea
and how could they spar him?
Speaker 3 (04:54):
Then?
Speaker 2 (04:54):
I don't know what the outrage is now, Like we
have to go down that avenue.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Can we not just say, hey, you know what, Tennis
wanted to get some work with Canelo to see how
Canelo has attained such a high level status to become
one of the.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
Greatest boxers of this generation.
Speaker 1 (05:07):
And Canelo sees Boots rightfully as a guy that has
some similar qualities to Terrence Crawford. Sure, maybe he wants
to play some mind games, but he wants to bring
it in and get some good work.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Can we not just leave it there?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Because if guys can't spar high level fighters without people
being offended by it, then what are we doing.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
It's the fight game. Guys are gonna fight.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I saw the rumors online about Darn boots Ennis beating
up Canelo and sparring and making him quit.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
After three rounds.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
I can't believe how gullible the boxing community is. But
at the same time, I also understand the need to
have hope and the need to believe in your fighter.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Now, this is what I'll say.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Do I know what happened between Canelo and Jaron Boots
Ennis and their sparring.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
No, I don't.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
But when people are giving you information online unsubstantiated other
than this, say, I have sources and they are involved
with this team, and then they're involved with that team.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
If these sources are not reputable.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
Meaning if they don't have any actual backing other than
a source told me, and they have never reported news before,
and they have no experience in any sort of background
talks when it comes to actual reporting for the sport
of boxing, and we're basing it off one picture Canelo
took with boots Innis with their head gear off, and
it looks like he has a bit of a shiner
(06:20):
on his left cheek. Can we just take it with
a grain of salt, maybe an entire cup of salt.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
And I'm not even trying to act as though I
know what happened.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Drom could have pieced him up, could have absolutely went
in there and destroyed and that would be a massive story.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
But we don't know those things.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
And to jump to conclusions on all of it, even,
by the way, to jump to the conclusion that Canelo
having drum boots Innoc in camp means he's gonna beat Crawford,
that's not the right move either. I think we have
to take a chill pill with this kind of stuff.
I just think it's so crazy that we jump on
one side of the other and in it could just
be fans of both fighters.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Canelo fans being like, look, boots Innis is in.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
It's over for Crawford. Crawford fans being like, nah, boots
Innis whipped his ass. It's all Crawford because Boots this
is just a knockoffers, you know what I'm saying. It
could be those things as well, I could be getting
caught in the Twitter verse and it does kind of
build hype for the fight.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
So maybe I shouldn't be telling you guys to relax
with it.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
But I don't think you guys came here to just
hear my thoughts on Boots at it's being in camp
with Canelo and what I think about the entire thing.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Because I already made a video on it.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Why don't we listen to both Bomack and Terrence Crawford
and get their thoughts on what they thought about Canelo
bringing in Jeron Boots in US and how they see
this fight play out. Because we just got two interviews dropped,
one from the Ring magazine, one from my guy Marcos
over at fight Hub, and we got some more insight
on how Bud.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Crawford's camp's going.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
First off, it was just to Bomack while he apparently
gets his haircut in the gym.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Ye, what do you think of what he'd been seeing
from him?
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Like online? He just did immediate workout last week up
with Reno.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
I know he probably didn't show much, but like, did
you take anything away from those things?
Speaker 3 (07:49):
I lived?
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I swear to God to see it.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
I see shit I don't.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
I don't give you damn.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
I don't give full all that shit because the workouts
and those smarting partners, all that shit that don shit
don't mean nothing when you step in that fucking ring
that's actually going to the ways.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
That's why I wanted to follow up with the Boots question.
I know you saw him spar with boots. Give me
your initial response to that.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Don't mean shit, man, that don't mean shit.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
That don't mean nothing, man, Boots ain't no Crawford. A
lot of people feel like he brought in Boots.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
I never understand when coaches say this stuff like I
don't mean shit who he's sparring with.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
They don't mean shit, who what kind of training he's doing.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
It don't mean shit, Like I always wonder do they
mean it doesn't mean shit that they're sparring and training,
or it doesn't mean shit who they're sparring and training with.
Because you need to train and spar that does mean
shit when you step in. It actually means the most
shit to how you perform when you step in, right,
because this is this is high level boxing. This is
something Canelo and Terrence Crawford have been doing forever the
moment itself.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
I mean, Terrence s.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Crafford's never been in this big a fight, and some
people are saying that potentially is going.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
To be a problem.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
But the moment itself, they've done so many times that
they'll probably be more comfortable in. But the adjustment it's
in camp and in fight will make the difference. So
I do think it kind of means shit. I mean,
I'm not a coach, and I can't I can't speak
to the knowledge that Bomack has at all, not even
like close, But I mean it does mean something to
be able to have someone that does have a somewhat
(09:17):
similar style to Bud Croft. And again I say this
for Bud, like, if you ask Bomack how much it
meant that Bud was training and doing all the things
he needed to do, he'd be like, oh, it's yeah,
it's of course, it's crucial to what we need to
do on fight night. So it does mean something. It's
just again Bomack, the take and the piss here. Because
you have to have good sparring. You have to push
yourself in sparring. You have to put yourself in uncomfortable
(09:38):
places and you have to do it in a way
that makes you the best possible version of yourself on
fight night.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
It just has to be done.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
So I always get confused when coach you say that,
I don't mean nothing. It's how you perform, of course
it is, But how you prepare to perform, that's that's
how you get the performance.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
You need the psychological warfare.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
But also because he's a switch hitter and they're saying
that cano's really taking it seriously because he's bringing to a.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Guy like Boots.
Speaker 5 (10:05):
Hey, Like I said, that don't mean all that shit,
don't mean nothing.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
That shit.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
They ain't gonna help you. He should have just got
to do the last cab.
Speaker 5 (10:13):
Drought where he just fought, because that's shit they gonna that.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Don't mean nothing, man, all that shit don't mean nothing.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
He ain't no Bud Crawford. They don't have that mentality,
having that mentality and and going.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
Up times you hear that the same for mother fucking time.
Speaker 5 (10:34):
Shit, Man, I don't get all that shit all.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
I didn't like the way he answered that, And again
maybe I'm just reading too much into it, but he
said a lot of nothing there.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Oh, I don't mean nothing.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Nah, Nah, he ain't got that mentality and then to
go upside your head boots and it goes upside everybody's head.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Now, I'm not trying to even compare him to.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
The high level fighting of Bud Crawford, right, but has
already been undisputed twice, done it in two different weight classes.
So yeah, like, of course Bud has a killer mentality,
but SODA's boots in it.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
It just seemed like there was a lot that Bowmack could.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Say, and it's probably because, yeah, he didn't see a
lot of it if he's telling the truth there. But
you have to admit that it is a good idea
for Canelo to go and get Boots Sentis and Rashidi.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Ellis to spar for this fight. You have to admit that,
and I think it does mean something.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
And that answer from Bomack, I'm gonna be honest, it
makes me think that Bomack is nervous about it.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
That could be a complete falsehood.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
But if your only response is I don't mean shit
because they ain't got Bud's mentality and mentality to go
upside someone's head and they're not Bud.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Okay, I agree with you.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Boot Tennis is not Bud, But he's also one of
the best fighters in the world, and Canelo brought him
in specifically to get the work that was similar to
potentially what he may see in Bud Crawford and to
push himself just like you're pushing Bud in his spark
And I guarantee you Bomack thinks the Bud sparring is important.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
That seems like a little bit more of denial than
anything else. I gotta be honest, what's going on? Is
this any different? E?
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Is the intensity any different than the other camps?
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Uh? No, Man, it's always work.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
Like I said before, you know, Uh, each camp we
put in a hundred and ten percent. You know, we
don't leave no stones unturned. So you know, I can't
say that this camp is any different, uh than any
other camp that I've been working in. HM. Do you
see this as the the biggest challenge of your career
(12:25):
in European? Yeah, you could say that, but they all
big challenges. You know, when you get on this level,
it's about who wanted them most at the end of
the day, you know. Uh, when you look at Spence,
that was my biggest challenge. When you look at Postal,
that was my biggest challenge when you look at Magimore.
That was one of my big challenges because I'm moving
(12:46):
up and wide, and you know, given the circumstances that
you know, uh, his background, amateur background and things like that,
Gambo was my biggest They all big challenges, uh, and
they don't.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Right, But can't treat this fight with Canelo any differently
when he's answering questions.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
But you have to be honest and say, yes.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
This is Terrence Crawford's biggest challenge, point blank period. Yes
to wait, Yes to moving up, Yes to the challenge
of being three times undisputed.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yes, Canelo fucking Alvarez.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Sorry for my language, but that's who he is, fighting
one of the greatest of the generation.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Not even the question. And again, I know that Spence
was a big challenge.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
I know that pol for pound at the time maybe
a little bit too long on the tooth and.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
The pound for poundless. But this is by far as
biggest challenge in Terrence.
Speaker 6 (13:31):
There's a lot of pictures kind of going viral with
Hernandez and Jiran. It's kind of like he has like
the Avengers or like the Justice League Smart Partners taking
the fight series.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Really, you know, tough, smarting partners, just wanting to get
your thoughts that what is there to talk about you
fighting the best fighter in the world. You better be
taking a serious you know the show.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
That right, there's a cold fucking line from Terence Crawford. Man,
what's there to talk about you the best in the world?
You better take it serious.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
That's what I want to hear. Bot Max's answer was
not that that was a good answer. That's what we
want to hear. That's confidence. Yes, so you know.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
How serious he's taking me out, how much he respect me,
because you know, if I haven't fought anyone, and if
I was too small, if I was you know all
these things that all the media said I was, and
we wouldn't need these guys to help prepare them to
fight me. He wouldn't, you know, need all the help
(14:34):
that you know he's getting. But I'm happy that he's
getting the help that he needs because you know, after
you know, September thirteenth, there'd be no excuses.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Hell of an answer. That is what you want to
hear if you're a Bud Crawford fan. And that's what
makes this fight so important. And this is how we're
gonna end the video. But we haven't had this kind
of fight in a very long time. We've had best
fighting best right, we just got a better give and
devote back to back fight fantastic. We've seen Alexander Usik
and Tyson Fury, Alexander Usik winning both of those fights, fantastic,
(15:07):
becoming undisputed at heavyweight fantastic.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
But this one right here, Yes, it's a little.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Bit odd because it's it's Canelo at one sixty eight
and Bud Crawford could have taken Boots it one pin
fifty four, Canelo could have taken Benavidez at one sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
But there's just something about this one that makes it special.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
I don't know if it's the stakes on the line
for Budd Crawford moving all the way up. I don't
know if it's Canelo having this rejuvenation and this this
refocused mindset and attitude toward this fight to once again,
even though he doesn't really need to prove that he's
one of the greatest ever once again taken that challenge
to do it, or the fact that this this Netflix
(15:40):
deal is here with the Ring Magazine and Turkey Ella Shake,
trying to just breathe life into the sport of boxing.
But this one just is so important I think on
a massive scale for what boxing's new era is going
to be in stepping into a new plane and becoming,
you know, a sport that is refocused, especially here in America,
as one of the big sports that we want to watch.
(16:03):
And I think it all really starts with this fight
because right now, boxing needs this fight.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
It needs to have two.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
Of the best on a massive platform light Netflix, because boxing,
for the longest time has put itself in a position.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
To go why why will we watch? What makes this
fight watchable for a general audience?
Speaker 1 (16:20):
And I haven't heard Americans be super excited about boxing
in a competitive space in a very long time. Like
a majority of people here in America watch it's football season,
They're gonna be watching.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
I'm gonna be watching football.
Speaker 1 (16:31):
But the sea boxing on this platform with this level
of a fight, and we're just weeks.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Away, I cannot wait.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
But that's all the catch up, no mustard that we
have for what's going on in camps right now. We're
only a couple of weeks out. I'm gonna be there
in Vegas on September eighth. I have no idea what
I'll be doing. You'll be seeing me around, So comment
down below what you want to see me do on
fight week and let me know your picks for this fight.
Are you a little nervous about the way Bomack answered
(16:58):
the question about Boots and us being in camp with Canelo.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
We're a little.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Nervous that Canelo Alvarez can't find a way to figure
out the puzzle that is Terrence Crawford. And are you
a little nervous that Crawford is coming up three weight
classes and then he won't potentially understand until fight night how
to handle that weight class in front of a guy
that's been at that weight class for a very long time.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
All these questions I don't have answers for but September.
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Thirteenth, only two weeks in a little change of way,
what happens, I don't have those answers.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
I guess we'll find out
