Speaker 1 (00:00):
What's going on, guys, I'm not listening on and I
am the man to put you juxon, juxon position. I
am Mouse Jones. Come on with the i Ams, come
on with it again. They're going affirming myself. Ain't nothing
wrong with some affirmation. But you know I'm gonna start
saying it with you so you know when you mess up.
I messed up, yes, because you know that's not how

(00:21):
it goes. I am the man that puts Jack juxta
position Jones period. Yes, And we are the What hip
Hop Podcast back again. No, we're not to hip hop podcast.
We are the What Question Legends and listen. I don't
know just what hipop podcast is. I don't know what
that is. I didn't sign up for. All Right, well,
we're the What hip Hop Questions, Legends and lists and
this week is a really fun topic and it's definitely

(00:42):
home to one of our hosts. You're not gonna let
me set this up like you gotta just I'm trying
to make it, dress it up and make it real
for you. But I'm trying to I'm trying to make
this a thing. But Okay, today on the web, we're
gonna be talking about trap karaoke and I've heard of that.

(01:04):
You heard of it, I've heard of it. It's only
hosted by one of the best hosts out one of
there's other hosts as good as me. That's crazy you
think that. I didn't say there's other one. I just
said one of the best. I am the best. Yeah, okay, sorry,
Look I don't really go outside like that, but I
went to trap karaoke and what happened. I had a blast.

(01:25):
I had and it was like it was like during
COVID times too, where it's like, should I be outside?
You know, I'm a little nervous I might catch COVID
being here. I didn't catch it, and it was worth it.
Shout out you and our game. Oh I came twice.
I'm talking with the DC Show. I went to the
DC Show. That was a five man. I was side

(01:47):
stage losing my voice. The one thing about trap karaoke,
you will lose your voice. Drink tea before you go,
and drink tea when you leave, because you'll be singing
the entire night. Like it's I never experienced anything like that,
so right, don't make me. I mean, oh my god,
shout out to you man. Because you're do an amazing
job hosting the show. Um, I definitely want to go

(02:10):
up there though and sing a song next time I
ask you that. No you didn't, Well, I wasn't sure
because it's just a lot of people. You just are
on national television in front of like millions of people
every week you're on the radio, But that's like in
front of a camera versus the real live crowd DJ
in front of like a lot of people. I'm freshing buttons,
I ain't talking, I ain't singing, and I can't come on.

(02:37):
You get nervous in front of live crowds now, Um, yeah, absolutely,
but it's more so before I get in front of
the crowd. What about in panels? Speaking in front of panels,
I don't really get nervous about that, But well, I
get nervous about things that aren't my thing. So singing
is not my thing. I was like, I'm first of all,
but if I go up there and sing, I mean,

(02:58):
you don't really have to be a good singer. I
think that's what makes the best come up on stage
for you guys. But today's all about trap karaoke and
how does it work. Let's talk about it. Let's talk
about some insight. Why are you doing Why are you
doing that? You've been booked, busy on the road in
every city, not make not showing up to the podcast
because you've busy with Trap. That's so not true. Why

(03:20):
would you say that on here? That's not true? All right,
not this season. You're in it right now. You're in
Trap right season later and bringing it. Yeah, we're we're
running two tours right now. We are opening for a Division. Um.
If that's been really fun. Um. Shout to Daniel, Shout

(03:41):
out to Christopher, shout out to you know, my super
agent Eves for you know, making it happen. Um. And
then we're on our own. We're on our spring tour
right now. Uh, you know, and God bless you know
number sold our shows. I really love the fact that
you guys are doing the opening up for Division, because
it's just genius to do that before a concert, especially

(04:03):
an R and B concert, because at Trup karaoke you're
always singing. And then a Division show it's like a
two on one. Yeah, like a two on one type
of night. You get the party asked, yeah, but then
you also get yeah, they were genius. Yeah, when they
reached out. They were you know, they were That was
a genius move. Whoever came out with that, dude, that
was a genius move. And I haven't seen that done before.

(04:24):
I must say, Yeah, I mean it's smart. You know
what I mean. I've I've been saying this about, you know,
just my craft that I wanted to start hosting, like
you know, actual shows, concerts. So it was like, you know,
for that to fall into our lives, it was just
like the perfect marriage. Love that love that all. Right.
Now today I'm putting on my journalism cap and my

(04:48):
co host Mouse. I'm sorry, I'm being silly, No for real,
because it is your journalism cap right now. It is
my journalism cap. That's your box. Mouse. I want to
know for or actually I want you to explain for
those who don't know what karyoke is, what is it?
What can they experience when they come so track karaoke
is like a big ass like it's truly just a

(05:08):
user generated experience that places the everyday fan, everyday party
goer at the center of the experience. So you know,
I use a bunch of big words just to say
the show's all about the people that show up you
know what I mean, I can you know, I have
it having you know, a talent where I can help

(05:30):
bring people together, to help people sing as a group.
But you know, those twenty five to thirty five people
that touch that stage, there's no group behind them that
you know what I mean. It's standing in front of
you know, a bunch of strangers and singing your favorite song.
And I think it's the magic that happens when you
see everybody sing along with you, no matter how sometimes

(05:50):
no matter how obscure the song. Sometimes people do sing
songs that is like, wait, what's the record that like
threw people off? Like a curveball. Somebody came up there,
shout out to this guy Oasis from Chicago. He usually
comes up um every city, I mean every time where
in Chicago usually comes and does what these bitches want

(06:11):
by Cisco and DMX, and he like pretty aggressive. He
knows all of the names and he hits all of
Cisco's ad lias. Wow. But this time, this pastime in Chicago,
he came up then and did uh tearing up my
Heart by Insinc. Big fan, Wow, big fan growth. How'd

(06:31):
that go over? Huge? Everybody went crazy. It's when you realize.
It's when you realize how how similar everyone grew up,
no matter where you're from. Like there was a part
of pop culture that reached everyone, you know what I mean,
and especially at that time, Like I was a huge
insinc fan. So still his damn still huge singing scro

(06:55):
last season. Insert that right there, listen, big fan, big
fucking thing. But yeah, so yeah, that's one of the
one of the ones I can think about. So how
do you guys make it so that it's a safe
environment for people to feel comfortable to even go up
there and say it's intentional, you know, we intentionally make
it a safe space from the time I step out

(07:16):
on that stage and I, you know, I just exert
this to me and I let you know, Hey, we're
gonna have fun, we're gonna party, we're gonna do all that.
But here's what we're not gonna do. You know, we're
not gonna be respectful to one another. And the way
y'all show the rules is like, it's really a presentation.
Why are you not explaining the presentation? I can't give
them everything. You got to show up to the show. Yeah,

(07:38):
you gotta come to the show. But yeah, you know,
we have the rules, and you know a huge part
of rules that you know, this is a safe space
for everyone, especially black women and black queer people. So
if you know, we're gonna make sure we respect them
and make sure we have a good time. And the
same way anybody else has the opportunity to come up
on stage, they would have an opportunity to come up
on stage, and um, you know, all that fear kind

(07:59):
of goes out the door once you hit that stage.
You know, we've had we've had you know, black queer
men on stage Vogan uh, you know, black masculine presenting
queer women on stage singing the softest of songs, and
everybody enjoys it, you know what I mean. And you know,
sometimes you get to get off some records that you're like, uh, yeah,

(08:20):
that's kind of problematic, but uh going for it. There's
some Boossey records that gets spun and I'm like, I
wouldn't know, but I'm not gonna ask in practice, I'm
not gonna not gonna answer it. I'm not gonna answer it.
All right, So how did you get started with trap karaoke? So?
Trap karaoke was the birth child of a super genius actually, um,

(08:43):
and it had been going on for about six years
before I got there. Five five years. I'm sorry, it
was going on about five years before I got there.
The funny thing is, you know, the super full circle
thing is I was at the very first trap karaoke.
Oh well, and I was at the you know, I
was at the Beata you know what they debt um,

(09:06):
I was at that and you know, just it was
so fun. Me and my friends shout out to Taikei,
bond Um and Julius. You know, we were in there
and at the time we were just a bunch of
dirty niggas trying to break into the industry. So it's changed.
I'm broke in. What happened to the dirt though? They
didn't go anywhere? Yeah, yeah, all right, it's some dirt

(09:29):
you got right here. Um, alright, alright, right, so you
started it with your friends, yea, at the first one.
We were at the very first one, and we were like,
we didn't know what this was, um, you know, and
you know at the time, the host in DJ they
were figuring it out, and you know, you could see
this thing. Could everybody in the room, I think knew

(09:51):
like this could be a thing. And this was at
the still at the precipice of like these big tent
pole events taking off right, like these big touring events
taken off. Um like Henny Paluser for example. Sure we
say that like grits and biscuits, but like grits and
biscuits and um, things of that nature, like roots, like

(10:14):
these things where it's like a little less than rooster
because like I said, this all user generated. This is new,
not never's been done before like this where you're putting
the people who show up, they are the center of attention. UM.
I just remember saying to myself like, oh, this is
the thing. I got to host this, and uh that
day I said that that day I gotta I gotta
be the one to hostess. And then um I was

(10:36):
invited to like the very the first official one, and
um you know all the ones that were in New York,
I pretty much showed up to trying to get an opportunity.
And then I got an opportunity in twenty nineteen. Um,
in March of twenty nineteen, I came out did the show.
So how many did you attend before you actually got
an opportunity? Like five or six? That's a lot. Yeah,

(10:58):
I mean, but there are events, you know what I mean,
like when it's in to this like I don't I
don't ever want to get lost on anyone. Like how
big of an event this is when trap Karaokee is
in the city if no one else the black community
knows it's in the city, no matter what city I'll
go to. I I literally go to like the malls
and where like people frequent Oh yeah you're from Track. Oh,
Track Karaoke's in town. So um, same thing when you

(11:22):
come to New York, you know what I mean. Like, so,
it was no way I was missing it. I knew
I was gonna have a good time. News you knew
I was gonna have a great time. Um. But she
was always on the mission always or I don't, I
don't come outside just to be coming outside. Now, I
know what kind of work were you doing now at
the time. At the time, uh TV free work, A

(11:46):
lot of free work. Uh you know, I had the
Human One made his club podcast. That was you know,
it was getting it was getting attraction. Um. I was
doing a lot of uh internet personality stuff for you know,
BT socials and MTV socials and uh, anyone At the time,
I was also a part of the grape Vine UM,

(12:06):
which was a huge thing for me. Uh yeah, anything
Global Grind. I was doing them every week. People though
I worked there. I wish I did. Um. Yeah, anything
that was giving me a microphone and a camera and
a platform I was I was doing. So you currently
listen to the What Hip Hop Questions Legends and list
would be right back after this break. You You've been

(12:31):
going to this event for about five or six times
every time they hit the city, and then you finally
get that opportunity. How did that opportunity come about? I
just got an email? Just got an email or was
it the email? No, the DM I got DM Were
you blowing them up in the dms UM At that time,
I kind of reside like this wasn't gonna happen. And

(12:52):
then I got hit up and you know, it came
like the voice of God, like yo, when march with
you know in Philly, and in my mind of Mike Philly,
it's like my second home. Oh I'm gonna go crazy.
And at the time I had just hosted my friend
Law was just on the phone with I had just
hosted his concert, Beano's concert. Uh I think it's closed now,

(13:13):
but the spot called Coda and I had just hosted
his concert, and you know, I had the big melodies
from Heaving Moment that like got me a lot of
attention in Philly and that video when viral and Kirk
posted it and Sony posted it, so I was like, oh,
I'm like, Philly's like a second home for me. So yeah,
let's do it. And you know the rest was history.

(13:34):
I came out there, killed it. I had to do
even rocking ever since. Were you nervous? Never? Never knew
what I knew what I had to do already. There's
nothing to be nervous about. It's a big crowd, it's
a lot of people. At the time, I had already
done Stable Center twice, So yeah, bt experience. I hold

(13:57):
it there. I hosted there a concert two thousand and eight,
two eighteen, two thousand and nineteen. Stacked resume, right, I'm
all right. I'm the best host out period, best to
ever come around here excluding nobody. Oh my god, yo,
you know what, I've always admired your confidence, though I don't.
I keep telling me I don't have any confidence and
no mess up set all the first time, like nothing

(14:18):
you you kind of thought, No, I could have done
that better the first time. No, because I was given
an opportunity, and in that opportunity, I showed. In that opportunity,
I showed everything I could do, showed everything I could
bring to the show, everything I could bring to this crowd,
to this audience. Um And truly I treat what I

(14:40):
do as a service to our community. So you know,
it's it's not about me, I laughing, joking and you
know I'm not joking. I s having the best, but
that's part. It's not about me, you know what I mean,
get in front of that crowd every day is about them.
It's about that audience. So when did you realize, Like
I guess, when did you realize that you're the best
host out? I want to start tourn So the only

(15:01):
way I knew I was the best host in New
York City When I was the best host in New
York City? When was that? When I was only hosting
in New York City? So you know when, No, before
I got the opportunity in trap So oh maybe yeah,
I forgot about that completely, forgot about that sector of
my life. Um that when when d Black asked what
I was doing UM, I was hosting. I was hosting.

(15:22):
On top of doing everything else, I was hosting live events.
So I was hosting any and everything. I've hosted, poetry slams,
I've hosted. I hosted nineties parties that had like ten
people in it. I've hosted. At the time, I was
the host for Shout Out to the General Public, Tree
and um Lenny. I was the host for a Mixy
Brunch slash Dope Barbecue. UM. So we knew what I

(15:45):
knew my earning power, knew what I could do. I
knew how I could interact with the crowd because every
month we were putting like eighteen hundred to three thousand
people in a spot, and then in the summer we
were doing the same thing, a dope barbecue. So I
knew I was the best in New York City. I
knew nobody want to go after me in New York City.
I knew if you had an event the same day

(16:06):
as Dope Barbecue or MIXI Burns, you were in for
a hard time because these people were leaving ours and
going to yours, and we're gonna be like, oh, did
you come into DJ where you're all who you put
up there with me. I have to. I'm I'm, I'm me.
So at the end of the day, you did the DJ,
I'm gonna let them do their job. I wanted to
do a dollar before. I ain't gonna say he let

(16:26):
you do your job all the time. I mean, I'm
going to execute the prince because he'd be like, hey,
make sure you play this Like I got my own
little situation. I'm trying to do mouse okay, but I'll
get to it. Yeah, Like you know, I don't want
to wedding. Have you ever done a wedding? Oh? Yeah,
I'm like I've done at this point, I've done so
many wedding I just did it wedding like a month ago.

(16:48):
Shout out to the Dukes. Shout out to the Dukes. Um,
you really could DJ though, No, I can't. It's too
much focused. That's that's not a craft. I don't. That's
y'all craft. It's bigger than me. Just like y'all have
to blend and know the bpms and all that. I
don't know what sounds good, but because you know the records, though,
you're like, you're just two steps away from there's big

(17:09):
two steps. There's big two steps. Y'all got it anyway,
because then everybody or the DJI is gonna hate me
now now talking, Yeah, I can't do that. Oh, mouse
are absolutely one. O. Yeah. Weddings are fun. Weddings are
super fun. The only bad thing about them is when
I leave now, I want to get married. Please, Okay,

(17:32):
let's not allow on the podcast I do. I want
to get married after every wedding, age hood, I did
age hood and um Shila's wedding. Wanted to get married
immediately after that, did wedding after that. I wanted to
get married after that. So where's the disconnect me? I'm
glad you know, because I just all right, don't be
an asshole frustrated me. If you're talking about you want

(17:54):
to get married, let's be real. Let's talk about something
you ain't gonna lie about. Trap karaoke? All right? Where
your friends at? I'll marry one of your friends. I
would never do that. See there you go, you try
and keep them from happiness. So all right, what is
the standard format for how people get involved? How does
the show begin? How can I sign up? Because I
still haven't been able to hit the stage, can say

(18:16):
this is what I'm given away too much? Um, what
is there? There is a sign up there, there's a
sign up. There's there's a sign up that goes out
when you buy your ticket. There's a sign up that
goes out. Um limited, it's limited. It's like the way
I tell people. It's like it's like the sneakers at
first Come, first serve. And I don't really like that though,

(18:36):
but then it's two hundred two. But then once the
party's going, I'm gonna grab somebody on that wild call.
You'll come up here, do your thing, do your thing. Um.
But that's why, that's why we do the show the
way we do the show right. Like me and the
creator of the show, we've always since we got together,
we've always been on the same macord. When we treat

(18:59):
this like the act one, Act two, Act three, Act four,
you know, we treat this thing like it's a real show.
It's not just a party. Like it's a real show.
And the truth of the matter is olden people in
you know, a room full of many people and everybody
not gonna get on stage. How do I make sure
everyone feels like they were on stage? And that's why
I comment. So when you buy the ticket, you choose

(19:21):
your song that you're want to. That's all in, that's
all in the moment as soon as you hit that stage.
Oh wow, when I was there, somebody did throng song
they did I don't remember any performance. I don't I
don't forget any performance, and I flamed them tight ass pans.
So it was an interesting thing. What if someone gets

(19:42):
up on stage and ain't choose a bad song or
just like a whack song, I'll let him have it.
I let him have it. This is your moment because
guess what, you just didn't make my job that much
easier naps to talk about. So when you're done, I'm
gonna roast your ass. So they added some visual elements
to trap karaoke explain. So that's how that works. Oh

(20:02):
like the memes, Yeah, the memes are you know, listen,
I don't even know what I don't even know what
we'd be without the memes. Like, you know, the creative
that he's just like I said, he's just a genius
when it comes to the inner workings other stuff and
really knowing what gets people going um and what keeps

(20:23):
people attention. It is like as funny and as engaging
as you think I'm mean, I am. I'm that much
more engaging and funny because we got those memes going on.
It help and the same way that they're funny, there's
also like super encouraging when somebody's killing it. You see
that right meme and the crowd of like yeah, yeah,
so yeah it's it's those memes. Yeah, game changer. Those

(20:46):
listening at home or never been to a show? How
does it mean the meme stuff work? Like? I mean,
when you're performing, the memes, like, we have a big
as screen, so the memes are just going on behind you,
um or sometimes you can see him in a confidence monitor,
but I don't think people pay attention to that when
they performing. There's a conferdence monitor that's that's TV that's
on the stage on the bottom. That's cool. So when

(21:09):
you're preparing to do a trap karaoke show, what is
your prep Like, I'm usually in a I'm usually in
the green room watching Last Dance UM or Black I'm
Dead Cherous or the Black Jordan Yeah, Jordan, Last Dance
UM Yeah, Because I like I need I'm about to

(21:30):
go perform at my at my peak greatness, So I
would like to be inspired and see other people performing
at their peak greatness. I get that. So that's that's why.
So I either watched Fade the Black or I watch
The Last Dance. Um. Lately, I've been, you know, just
listening like smooth jazz in the green room as well. Sweet. Yeah,
I don't take my I tell people a time, I

(21:50):
don't take my hip hop opinion. Seriously, I'm listening that
smooth jazz in R and B most of the time.
Love that. I'm a big smooth unless I'm talking about
hip hop with now, then you should really listen to
me because she's gonna drive y'all. Just like MJ. You
listening like smooth jazz, just smooth jazz. Well, I'm glad
there about the un least chaos. You're a complex person.

(22:11):
Yeah yeah, yeah, smooth jazz. You just threw that in there,
all right, I'm so serious. Okay. And as a reminder,
you don't drink any alcohol. No, I don't. I don't.
I'm completely sober. No drugs, no uh no drugs, no
looka no nothing ever, no hooka nothing, t big on
the team, big on the teams like herbal Tea. Yeah yeah, yeah,

(22:35):
the herbal Tea Yeah, y'all was the like herbs Herbs.
So what are some current songs that are hot right
now at trap karaoke? WHOA, That's all depending upon the
region or the city we're in, Like, um, I know
in the South, especially when you hit like that Middwest
area that where it kind of gets murky. Mississippi no,

(22:58):
never been, but like the Arc like the Little Rocks
and um, Nashville take it, Take that shit to court
by mister Biggs. Crazy, it goes crazy, mind you. There's
so many songs that I'm that I know by heart
now never heard before track karaoke, but like mister Biggs
take it to Court, I know by heart now? Um

(23:21):
what else? Uh? International Players Anthem is a classic classic,
like and you know when we got DJ Money shout
out to the DNV my brother, Um when I got
DJ Money up there with me and he brings in
the original sample from Willie Hudson, Oh d like it

(23:43):
goes crazy. Um knock if you buck always turns them up. Um,
trying to think the cool thing is how you get
to learn the regional records. Yeah, you'd be like it's
shocking because it's it only exists in this right here
and it will never have this anywhere else. But that
energy is unmatched when we're in Raleigh. So there's a

(24:05):
song by this guy named King George called keep on Rolling.
It's the greatest song I've ever heard in my life. Really,
I've run at least fifty miles to that song on
the repeat. I need to hear. It was a record
of the Trap. It's like I guess he's R and
B if you probably heard the TikTok one monkey, you

(24:28):
don't stop, no show. So you gonna na monkey don't
stopping now show? So he keep on rolling keeping that
sounds positive. He's telling the woman that help me, I'm
gonna have you, you and you and if you don't

(24:50):
want no possible one monkey don't stop no show, Yes,
I'll go keep on root. We had something when I
tell you, Riley tears that song up. Oh and then
um New Orleans the Bunny Hot Uh Yeah, it's super Yeah,
it's all but Yeah, there's certain records that's gonna get

(25:11):
them going, like you know, shout out to wile Um,
no wigs, no hands verse um. Would you say that's
one of the workers that records that work everywhere. Yeah,
I come out to it. That's my that's my entry record.
I come out to that like as soon as I
touch the stage, Me and Money driving look no hands

(25:33):
and no dun and at this point, and at this point,
Wile is like like I've performed it with Wile like
we were at afro teching. He was like, you come
to Walker's part like that's it's become a thing. So yeah,
those songs are like, those are the songs that like
if there's like a trap karaoke like get familiar playlists, Yeah,

(25:56):
that's probably gonna be at the top. So okay, what
are some other records that you would say we're everywhere?
Um Friday's remix I've seen you. Yeah, depending on how
you drop it, international players, that works that, it works everywhere,
It works everywhere. Yeah, that works everywhere. Um Fantasia works everywhere.

(26:18):
When I see you, When I see you works everywhere. Um,
but also um Free Yourself, that works everywhere. There's one,
but I'm gonna keep it. I'm gonna keep it under tuck.
I tell you all fair because we just started using
it and it's like huge. It's like people go crazy, Um,
pony goes crazy. Yeah, people are really horny. I'm assuming,

(26:41):
I'm assuming Love goes Crazy, and that is my one
of my favorite records because you get to see women
like lose their ship and they're doing all of this
shit like I love like I posted on my own
Instagram yesterday I was at the Alex Vaughan and Ary
Lennox show and when Alic came out, there just one girl.

(27:02):
She was in the front of the crowd and she
was just every word and I was like, this is
the audience member. I love all audience membership, and kudos
to the performer because you have there's a level of
suspended disbelief that you have to get people to buy into.
We're on that stage, nothing else matters. Yeah, this ticket

(27:23):
was worth it, no matter how much ticks was. You
gotta add two hundred dollars to it because you gotta
add in the uber. You gotta get some food, gotta
fit might want to get That's what I'm saying, got
merch so somebody your ticket might the cost of you
coming to see you might be upwards a five hundred
dollars has to has to has to be worth it. Yeah,
that's how I think about it. So those moments when

(27:46):
we dropped these records and people are like, you know, singing.
You know it's an R and B record and people
are singing to each other, or it's a super trap
record and you're seeing like the school principles and doctors
losing their ship and singing. Then wrap into it. Yeah,
these are you know. Glorilla she had like two or
three of them right now that we could just play

(28:07):
anywhere and go crazy. Um Lola goes crazy? Um fire Uh,
matter of fact, add four. Glo really got like four
records that go crazy? What are the four? The Shebooya record?
She not on that? Doesn't she not on that? Her
friends at all? All? Right? Then three? She got three?
Then yeah, goes crazy? That's up? Hear that? Yeah? Like

(28:33):
literally when I'm like you notice, like yeah, like okay,
go ahead, go crazy missus. Girls are killing it right now.
You're now listening to the what hip I've questioned legend
to listen. We'll be right back after the break. So
you've done no hands with Wally? What are some other
celebrities that have like, well, me and Wig didn't know

(28:53):
hands after we didn't do that trap Okay, but you're
asking like what celebrities have pulled up. Yeah, try kerryogn
Ary Lennox pulled up and she sung, I'm going down
Alex Vaughan. She came and Atlanta she did what she did.
She did. Love Neo came. He did a melody of

(29:18):
his records. Little l came when we were in like Canada,
he did, Uh boyheads Galeyway, Ain't got no um who else?
If I see him come out there. Side of Baby
came out in Detroit, of course, um, and they went

(29:38):
crazy for Side a Baby. I'm trying to think Chance.
I think that's been my favorite Chance. We have a
new segment. I gonna talk about his brand new so
I want everybody to witness it before I talk about it.
But there's a brand new segment and Chance came in
took part in the segment. But he was just chilling.
He was comfortable, just chilling, and I was just like yo,

(30:00):
you hell yeah. So it came and he did nice
and slow by Ussher and like he was dead as
I was not expecting him to pick nice, Like he
was a dead ass about this, like he was about
to come. Yeah, he was dead, like Chance Champs was
up there getting crazy. Yeah. Um, but it's been you know,

(30:22):
and that's just been since I've been there, and I
could be forgetting people. Um, young Buck, young Buck pulled
up my first time in Nashville. That was a fun
that dad was funny. So out of all the areas, wait,
why was it funny? I'll tell you a fair Oh lord,
all these nights all right? So add of all the
regions that you have gone to and performed, which region

(30:44):
is your favorite? Wow? That's what you're doing. That's what
I'm doing. Come on, keep it honest and don't be
New York bias because I'm going to your Instagram. It
really looked like you love in the South New York City. Yeah, lying,
New York is my favorite place to perform. I love
home games. You're lying. Just tell me, barely post your
New York shows. That's a lie, you're saying. You barely

(31:05):
post your New York shows. You're always posting. You're telling
a lie right now because there is a literal, cinematic
recap every New York show. But the further west you go,
is that more homework do you have to do for
yourself or do you feel like it's the format as
far as song selection and things like that? Oh? Yeah,
we had DJ Head and m r J. That was

(31:28):
so crazy. That was so fucking crazy. Um homework. As
far as I'm I hate to sound like a stush,
but I've been like hip hop is in me, you
know what I mean. I don't have to like be
in love with a region, Like I don't have to

(31:48):
love the geographical location of a place to respect and
appreciate and have it already ingratiated in me. What you know?
So like, yeah, when we go to the West, you know, La,
I'm already tapped in over there, so I'm already hitting
up Yo, pull up, bring this person, Yo, pull up,
bring this person. Um. Yeah, but when you go to

(32:10):
the Bates, like you add more E forty to the
playlist and things. I mean, we have a we have
a really amazing team of DJ's between DJ Money and
A Hide, so they do what they gotta do. Yeah,
and Money is like a super vet at this So
Money is great. Yeah, He's Money might be the best
DJ I've ever been on stage with ever in life.
Can we talk about the people involved as far as

(32:32):
like on the stage, that's you just a DJ? What
how many people are involved behind the scenes? Just about
like small, small, kill crew, but on stage it's just
me and the DJ. Yeah, a small kill crew. I
do just want to give a little to shine some
light all Money. I know, we keep talking about shine
some light on DJ Money. DJ Money is so brilliant,

(32:52):
especially when it comes to his music because he'll play
album cuts like their hit records and the way he
drops them. Big people are in there. Like I tell
people all the time, I'm spoiled. I'm spoiled that I
get to work with DJ Money every week, the man
and then like knowing he shout out to DJ legend,

(33:14):
Um young guy out of Charlotte, North Carolina. Um, it's
really good. DJ. I gave him my opportunity to rock
with rock with me on the first couple of Division
shows just because money wasn't available. Um, and he did
his thing. He did his thing, but man, it was
nothing like going in front of that. It's one thing
to be with Money in front of our crowd, to

(33:35):
go in front of a to go in front of
the Division crowd. I mean, New York is New York.
I was gonna kill it no matter what. But like
being in Phoenix, San Francisco, these other places with him,
like it's like Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnette, like we
got each other's backs, and like he knows where I'm
gonna go. I know where he's gonna go. We have

(33:56):
our own interaction. Yeah, and Money also is produced on
the top R and B record, like like you know
with money long yeah, Alex Bay, you know, just tapping
wile so not to be slept on, Yeah, not to
be slept on it fifty fifty rapping R and B
trap curric you know, like it's more R and B?

(34:17):
Is it more R and B? There's only no that's
but that's the beautiful thing about it. We only do
R and B for like it's a quick segment. It's
a quick segment. It's in and out most of the name.
But you know, the people, we allot of people to
perform whatever they want. But like as for us, like
we only do a quick, you know, quick R and
B segment. It's just it's really polent. I'm about to
say they do a lot of everything, because it'll be

(34:39):
it'll be gospel, it'll be R and B, it'd be
trapp it, it'd be rapp it to be like one
big one. It's one big celebration of blackness. Man, Like,
that's the best way to put it. Like, we're gonna
touch everything in these four hours. So if you had
to pick your favorite moment from trap Karaoke, what would
it be stepping on stage the first time in Philly?
The first Yeah, that's it wasn't you were I knew

(35:01):
you was lying. That's not what you asked. You has
two different things. You ask me my favorite time, you
ask my favorite place to perform? What about the moon?
Was a fan and anything that that that speaks you
as far as I thought that was had people going
there trying to make me cry. Um, there's so many, Nah,
there's so many, Like, there's so many, Like we could
talk about the picture lines, um, you know, like people

(35:25):
seeing people to line up to take a picture with me,
whether they were a fan already or they this was
their first time caring that much about you know, whatever
I just got done doing for three and a half hours.
It touched you that much you want to get picture
That means a lot. Um. There's times where a fan
comes up and you can see there like scared shitless

(35:48):
and then I'm just like, oh I got you where
I got you? And it's like you're teaching somebody to
ride a bike and you kind of like just take
your hands off real fast and you think you're still there,
but they're riding that bike and you're like you gotta
o you a music video. Yeah, um, he knows. Are
my favorite times? Uh, tears from me from fans on stage. No,

(36:12):
there's been a there's there's been like a few like
fans like people that are mouse Jones, fans that were
just excited to see me drop a few tiers. But like, no, nobody, No,
it's super joyous man, super joyous occasion. And I think
at the end, everybody leaves feeling like family, and that's
really what's important to me. So if that's I if
that's the if to answer the question, that's my favorite

(36:33):
fan interaction when people leave, you know, um, people come
out by themselves. That's huge, right, Like we all have
been the shows and been the thing like I'm not
going by myself that or the day they're coming by
themselves and not being held back of like oh no
one's coming because they know they're gonna leave with new people.

(36:54):
Like there's friendships that have been made. You know, people
travel now together to come to the shows that met
randomly in one city, and now they're coming to different cities.
It's dope. So what's the next for trap karaoke? The Moon?
Man the Moon. I'm trying to do trap karaoke on
the Moon. It'll be Fire Islands, or it might be

(37:18):
Listen the Islands. I mean, I think it's like as
a death Caribbean to think listen here, listen. My thing
with trap karaoke is I think I always just want
more people to see us. That's it, visibility, visibility. I
just want more people to see us. So many people
see it, so many people have experienced us, but I

(37:39):
want everyone too, So I want to you know, I
would love to open up for more. Yeah, I feel
like you have to open up on the Renaissance tour.
I think so as well. I'm not gonna argue that.
I think that would be phenomenal. And you can do
like early Beyonce records, Destiny Child records, we wouldn't have
we wouldn't even have to touch those. We just you
wouldn't have to touch. Yeah. Yeah, like we could go

(38:02):
crazy just the House records too, Yeah, like like just
go crazy. Yeah, whoever's listening that? Parkwood Frock Nation. I
don't know whoever's listening. We are available. That would be dope,
and I think you guys should definitely go to Europe
and Caribbean. I'm listening wherever they would be crazy, Wherever

(38:24):
they are people that want to celebrate music and want
to get on stage and act the food in front
of their cousins. I'm gonna be right there with it,
love it, dang. All right, So when's the next strap
karaoke and y s April twenty second, April twenty second,
I'll be there, deep block, you go on. Yep, you're lying.
You're lying. You just looked at us and lied because

(38:45):
you want to be The last time you said you
was coming, you ain't come. My kid got COVID that
time even more reasonably, even more reason to call you
just keep throwing now because kids, he got the vaccine.
That's why. Oh yeah, it's like, oh my auntie's sick.
He had no Like yeah, like you know, your kids
backs and boosted. So now you're like, yeah, if my

(39:05):
kid got COVID, that's more reason for me not to
go home. This is that's a good point. Hey, true,
all right, Dave, where the hell have you been at? Dave? Alright,
before we go, get some trivia for you guys. Yep,
I'm kicking out his ass. This this is a big move.
Section of trivia is all about people making moves. Jay
