Speaker 1 (00:01):
This is Paris. Hey guys, it's Paris today. We're interviewing
a very interesting guest. We have Greg Brown, who have
you've watched my TikTok is the guy who stole my sunglasses,
(00:22):
So let's get him on the call. Hi Greg, Hi Paris,
what's up? Oh my god? Nice glasses? Thank you living,
Thank you so much for not taking me to jail
unless you're here to gather more evidence. Yeah, I'm actually
here because the police are outside your house. And wait,
(00:46):
should I put on my glasses? A k? Your glasses? Yes?
Oh my god, do you actually remember them? Obviously? I
used to be obsessed with those, the doors. I have
the black ones, the cream colored ones, and those were,
Oh my god, they look so good on you. Oh
my god. Okay to take a photo. Loves that hot.
(01:08):
You have so many catch rages. I need to get some.
Thank you. I feel like you could come up with someone.
You seem pretty creative. Oh wow, compliments. I should be
complimenting you in order to keep myself in the good books. Well,
it was so funny and I was dying when I
saw that. Um. So, for those of you who have
not seen this TikTok, go onto my TikTok now and
(01:31):
look at it. Um. So, for those of them listening
right now, can you please tell us the story about
how you stole my sunglasses? Oh my god. I never
thought there'd be a reality where I'd have to sit
here and tell you that. S allright? Okay, do you
have a recollection of this night? So as I talked
about it, you can fill it in if you But
(01:52):
if not, like I feel back, because you've probably been
to so many clubs. No, I remember because it was
that club is Sick, and I remember it was like
a party that I was hosting and it was just
lit at the government people call it's gone now Paris
in Toronto. Yeah, um, so I was at an m
A concert and uh actually that night I chose to
(02:15):
wear to wear ski boots to that concert, like literal
ski boots because it was it was two thousands seven,
like it was very like neon color and energy and
like you know, you know, you set the trend probably yeah,
and we laughed. I was very drunk, very stoned. It's
legal in Canada, I can say that. And there was
(02:38):
this like crazy ruckets, which was you pulling up in
a black car in front of the government where you
were like the highlight of the night. You were being
like I guess were you at that point? You weren't teachaying,
you were just showing up and being yeah, I was
like doing disappearances like ever, okay, so you're living the
life we all want and we were just on to
(03:00):
get close, and it just so happened that the way
the crowd was pushed, like me and my friend were
pushed to one side, everyone who'd been waiting was pushed
to the other. And then you got out of your car,
like right there, and that's where I was like, pass
pass and I just yelling. And there's actually a documentary
in Canada about you, about your like impact, and at
one point it cuts to like she has crazy fans
(03:22):
and it's just like me and my friend like yelling.
I could send it to oh, send it to me.
What is it called. I think it's called it's called
like I wonder if you even like gave the rights
it was. It's called like Paris is Impact or something.
It was a CBC documentary. Anyways, you go in, everything
dies down, your car is left there, and me and
my friends were just like, oh my god, let's get
(03:44):
in the car. So we opened the door, we got
in the car. I will never forget that Daniel Powder
song You Had a Bad Day was playing and then yeah, well,
I mean it was your car. Maybe you had it
on repeat. We were losing our minds, Like I don't
know why no one you had so much like security
and stuff, but they were all with you. I guess yes,
for sure, over is probably like I'm gonna go into
(04:08):
like this. Look, it looks like it's gonna be fun,
like screw the car. I have no idea, Like I
think we were just like losing our minds. But okay,
this is a part where like what I don't understand.
We think that we were reading. We think that we
picked up a script to the House of Wax. But
it was two thousand seven and that movie came out
in two thousand five. Do you have any idea why
maybe that would have been in your car. Yes, I
(04:29):
know exactly why, because I was I was in Toronto
for like two months living there, um, and I was
shooting that movie Repo the Genetic Opera, which is like
this musical good by Darren Lynn Bousman, the guy who
did all the Saw movies. It's like the sick like Rocky.
It's like rock or Picture Show the vibes kind of
(04:51):
like thing. I don't know, it's it's sick. Yeah. No,
I totally remember that movie Oh my god, because we
feel crazy because everyone's like, you're a liar. That was
to in five and I'm like, oh my god, were
we so drunk that like so wait, because you were
like what like going over lines, Probably because I was
doing the movie during that, and I remember I would
get offered all these club appearances and they'd be like, Paris,
(05:12):
you have to do in the movie set, like in
the morning, so I would just like be reading the
scripts and practicing my lines on the way to the club. Wow,
she's a working gal um. Then anyways, my friends starts
screaming I think the cops have come. Then I can't.
I will never forget the way she was running. It
was like she was like hunched over, screaming, running, and
(05:32):
I was just like, oh my god, oh my god,
I'm going to jail. And then she's like I took
her glasses. I took her glasses and all I got
and then we just like recalled all our friends. We
were freaking out, and then I still have the glasses.
I feel bad. Oh my god, I love the story
so much. Why did you decide to come clean now
(05:54):
on TikTok? Well because of that like trend TikTok and
saying that weird trend of like one thing about me.
And to be honest, like, if anything ever goes I'm
on a date, a conversation goes quiet, I go, I
want to hear story, and I just tell that story,
you know. So it's like it's kind of that story
that's in my back pocket of my life that always
(06:15):
people are just like you're insane. Um, So when that
trend came along, it's like that's the only thing about me.
And then I just I said it. Honestly, I didn't
think anything of it. I was like super stoned. I
really wish I cared more about the way I looked
when I did it. Like now that you've had like
twenty seven or something million viewers on your TikTok, I'm
(06:36):
like I would have dressed up differently. I think you
look cute. Oh my god, stop it, you're turning me
on it. Okay, So how did you like what made
you see that video? Like? How did you? Um? I
got a Google Alert and I looked at it and
(06:58):
it was like soon steals pair a sunglasses. I was
like what. And I was just talking to my friend
about like how all this crazy happens to me and
people are always jacking me and like all these things,
and I was like, see, I told you. I'm like,
this is exactly what I'm talking about. And then we
watched it and I was like, oh my god, this
is genius. I need to watch it again. And then
I was like, should I do at it? And She's like, yes, definitely,
(07:20):
so I did go, Oh my god, I feel so
bad that I'm part of you being like everyone's jacking me. No,
that's fine, you're like the original blingering. Yeah, I really yeah.
I didn't know that's going to be like my Wikipedia page.
But I will drive them back to you. I swear
I will know. I'm giving them to you as a present. Wow.
(07:41):
You truly are wearing glasses right now that I almost
look like I'm what are those though? These are my
new keys since you stole mine, I had to um
invent my own ones. This is like this collab I
did with Key and I love this. I'll send you
these two. So now you're making your own. Oh yeah,
look out, Christian d Are. I loved your still but whatever, yeah,
(08:05):
sorry sorry. We love all brands right there, especially do
your It's iconic. This is Paris. What did you think
when you saw that? I responded, Oh my god, okay,
(08:25):
So yeah, we were so we have a like this
is where we do our podcast, and we had just
finished it. We were exhausted and we were trying to
decide like should we go out, like what should we do?
Me and my boyfriend? And then he got a text
from like he opened his phone. He had three texts
and it was like one was just like Paris to
edit it from like from like a friend of a
friend of a friend, and he was just like what
(08:47):
what does that mean? I was like, oh, glad, I
don't think I know what that means. And I'm so scared.
I was literally like Nitch going to the slammer, like
why did I admit to this? I opened it and honestly,
like the first thing we said, like she's so cute,
Like you just are like you're just smiling and like
at one point your mouth like when I'm like, don't
send me to jail, You're just like I won't like
(09:08):
mouth it and my heart was like, I'm so relieved.
And then we went out were like you gave me
that energy. I was like, yes, did you wear the
sunglasses out? Yeah? Yeah I didn't. I mean now everywhere
I go people are like, wear are the sunglasses? See?
I can't take them back? That would be so messed up. No, well,
it also like wood in according to the laws of
(09:29):
like the law I know, but I'm like, I'm so
nice that I would feel horrible about it for the
rest of my life. So even though you stole them,
you made you made up for it by doing a
really good TikTok. And to the blingering kids out there, no,
if you do a TikTok about it, I am not
going to forgive you ever, because you guys are beyond.
(09:49):
But this was so innocent, and like, I loved how
you're like I was a wild child because I was too,
so I understand and I love that you admitted it
and you said sorry. Yeah, I said sorry, I'm Canadian,
I'm canad Sorry, I'm sorry. I love how Canadians say sorry.
It's so cute. People like, like, the one thing I've
learned is how much your fans are just like ce
(10:09):
she is the nicest person on earth, Like like that's
your that's that's all. My comments on TikTok now are like,
look how nice she is, Like it's true. Yes, I
think that's one of my favorite qualities is being nice
and kind, because I think that is what matters more
than all of this. Yeah, all of this nonsense. Okay,
(10:33):
So have you stolen anything since I sunglasses? I know
it's so bad. It's like the reason I want to
give them back is like the moral of this story
is like if you steal in like and you're to
a really nice person, it's okay. Um, because like this
didn't teach me not to um. You know. I stole
(10:55):
banana bread from my university like every day because I
was like, this is so expense and say that I
feel like they're stealing from me. And I tried to
get my tuition back by every day taking a banana
bread and then I just gained so much weight. It
was like I don't even want banana bread, but oh
I love banana bread. Yeah, so good. I want to
make some. So I've robbed banana bread. What about you?
(11:18):
Paris kidding? No, I never have them to scared. Yeah, yeah,
you don't need to steal. Um you said that they
were the traveling Pants of sunglasses. Who else has had
these sunglasses in their possession. It's so funny because my
friend who who technically did steal them, it's like I
(11:39):
can't be named, so so she's like, she's just sitting
here definitely listening to the eyes wide open. But so
me and her that was like our thing because obviously,
um yeah, we've just like the story is just so
iconic for us, and we were seriously such wild child
like the things that I did when I was drunken young.
(12:00):
It's like now I teach educational videos about science on
the internet. It's like my past is so not what
I'm doing now. But it's just my one friend who
shall not be named. We just like take turns back
and forth. We use them for Halloween costumes. We just,
you know, every once in a while, touched them and
look at each other and we're like, I love you.
The instigator. Yeah yeah, I was like, if all, if
(12:27):
this all blows up, technically you did it, babe, and
you're going to here the one he's seeing Paris and court,
Oh my god, I'm dead. So do they still travel? Yeah, yeah,
like I've had them for a while now, Um, I
should probably give them back to her, but I'm glad
that I did that. I kept them in my memory box.
(12:47):
It's like it's like tickets to Joseph and the Amazing
Technicolor Dreamcoat when I was ten, and then like these
sung lines. It's going to be a family heirloom, children's
children's children, honestly, honestly, oh my god. Yeah, this is
like what my legacy is like on my on my
(13:08):
deathbed in casket, all that will remain is the plastic glasses.
You need to wear them my dead body deceased. Also,
they're like the only sunglasses that I well, I guess
I don't own them that are made in Italy, but
they look really good and the quality is great. Hallewe
(13:31):
years has it been? Okay? Do you not think that
this is back? Though? This look like when I say it,
but Antiaga and stuff, it's like this, Yeah, two thousand's
everything basically I've worn is all back. So do you
find that you're wearing the things that you had from
that era? Now? I try to, but the blingering kids,
(13:54):
they came into my house seven times and they would
literally like go shopping my closet and find specific like
iconic sick pieces like all my doors, all my Louis batons,
like all these amazing things that are like irreplaceable. So
it's literally result of the banker that you're not being
able to vintage do your Oh be a hypocrite being
(14:17):
like I'm going to get those kids. You guys was
just a pair of sunglasses. They took like millions of
dollars of things. Like it's out of control that they
got away with it, and now they're getting attention and
think their celebrities because of it. It's like out of control. Wow,
I've never I don't know that much about it. I'm
again I love how I'm code switching from like l
(14:39):
O L to being like high on my horse, like
I don't know that much about it, but that's wrong,
but it obviously is. But that's so sad because yeah,
like that era, like even thinking of that night out
like the m I a concert, I was dressed like
my shirt said made in the eighties. It was bank
It was like I would I would like never wear
(15:00):
that again. But now I'm starting to look around and
be like, oh my god, that is kind of what's
coming back. This sort of like everyone's dressed like they're
in the early two thousands, like nineties. It's so it's
fun fashion cyclical Paris. I agree, this is Paris. So
(15:23):
you're a science teacher and like a real science teacher. Yeah,
so like I went to I went to school. Yeah,
you find out my whole life is a lot um. Yeah,
so I went to school for visual art and biochemistry.
I always wanted to be a high school science teacher.
And if again, if the class ever disrupted, I'd be like,
(15:44):
I got a story for y'all. I'll get your respect
with this one. Um. But yeah, so then I started
making science videos on YouTube and then so for ten
years have been a quote unquote YouTuber making like science
that tries to make science videos, that tries to make
science makes to everyone. So it's a lot of stuff
about sex and drugs and like I'm queer, so other
stuff about like poppers and like like anal sex and
(16:07):
like just trying to make people realize sciences like super
interesting and accessible to everyone. But it's been like, yeah,
we have like over ten million YouTube subscribers. It's like
that's our job and that's why our TikTok Maybe you
would have seen because it's just like a bigger TikTok
because we just teach people science, except once in a
while we talked about your sunglasses, and then that's the
(16:28):
only time people and like the media care about us.
That's so cool though. I was watching a bunch of
your videos and I just love that I learned a
lot of different facts. I had no idea, but you
make it like fun and interesting because most like science
teachers would probably be so boring that people wouldn't even
understand that. You like make it easier and fun and
accessible for everyone. So I think that's awesome that you
(16:49):
can like teach people things while entertaining them. Yeah, oh
my god, Wow, you summarize it so well. It's weirdly
a huge thing on YouTube, Like a big part of
YouTube is science education, which a lot of people no.
But yeah, it's like it's really fun. I'm very proud
of it, um and I just can't believe, like my
manager and everyone's just like, this is the only, truly
(17:09):
the only time people have cared. Oh well, hopefully that
you can raise awareness for other things are important at
the same time. Yeah, I got to figure out how
to make these ones collide. If it was less robbery,
it'd be a little easier. I think. Yeah, it's so
sweet and innocent though, and we're homies now, so yeah,
(17:30):
we kind of are dressed the same right now, these
glasses in this blackout Paris. You also look so freaking good,
like the one thing that my friends like keep talking about.
And I was listening to your podcast a bit, and
is it true that you this is like something we
always talked about. It's like sun damage. Is it's true?
You never go in the sun never my whole life,
Like my mom always told me, do not go in
(17:51):
the sun. So I never laid out nothing. It's been
all fake spray tands. That's okay, the amount of conversation
I've had with people because we're like, you look so good,
and then we were like, you also looked hands, so
it's spray tands. Because I heard you say that, and
I was like, it's so true, Like the only way
to stop aging really is to like not smoke and
like and stay out of the sun. But then so
(18:11):
you've seen like what like you just wear hats, these sunglasses, Yeah,
big sunglasses, hats, um lots of sunscreen and just like
not laying out and just always covering my face. Um,
and yeah, I'm just getting facials to like I love facials, oxygen.
I have such a like mental picture of you, like tanning,
(18:33):
you know what I mean. Like it just it's so funny.
I just think that it's like something you would have done.
And then when I heard that you said you'd never
been in the sun, I was like what because it
shows I know, it really does, like sun is the killer,
it's beyond. We also did like a a climate change
YouTube series, like for YouTube originals, where we went and
lived on a farm and every week they took away
(18:56):
like the power or like our food and we had
to get it back with renewable energy. And I swear
the only reason they greenlit it is because in the
like package they were like, it'll be like the simple. Yeah,
so you've had like wild impacts all my life. Oh
I love that. What is it called? I want to
check that out. It's called shut it Off a sabbats
on YouTube, But it's like so eats eats. Each week
(19:18):
they'd shut off, for example, our power. Then we'd left
to like a bike to get our power. It was
learning about like climate change and like ways to survive.
But we're both gay and we like played up our
Paris Paris nicole energy. Yes, iconic. I love it. I
owe so much to you. I love you. Where are
you now? You're in Canada? Yeah, Toronto? So you lived
(19:42):
here for two months? Did you like it? Yes? I
love the people everyone is so I love Canadian people.
Everyone's just so kind and sweet and just like down
to earth and real and I just loved it and
I loved everything. I think it was the summer. I
think it was like August September time, so like that's
a good time to be here because the winters really that.
But you' and you're in l A. Yes, cool. We
(20:03):
go there a lot for work. So next time we're there, well, yeah,
do something. We should do something fun or at least
like maybe I can three D print these and give
you back a version we're fun to do, like a
science video or I can do a science experiment. Yeah,
or like even just like yeah, like a little ti.
(20:23):
Your TikTok's like huge. I didn't realize, like you're so
good at it. Yeah, we can do something on TikTok. Yes,
on the tick on the tick do you actually call it? No? Okay,
because I'm like, your a trend setter. I was like, shout,
I have to call it the tick now, but it
sounds good. Yeah, Oh my god, all right, I love you.
This is so much fun. Please let me know when
(20:45):
you're coming to l A. Alright, awesome, You're so funny
and I'm happy that we got to do this. Yeah,
me too. Thank you so much. I'm glad this could
bring us together. You're the best. Thanks for not butting
me and jail Babs of course. And will you tell
our listeners where to find you on socials. Yeah, it's easy.
It's a SAP science. Like a SAP science as as
(21:07):
soon as possible. Science is the idea behind it, and
you'll learn abount of science cultural rip flash from what
we've been talking about. Everyone check it out. A SAP science, hilarious,
fun and educational. Thank you Greg for coming on my podcast.
Thank you so much for having me. This is an
absolute joy. Yes, and next time you want something of mine,
(21:31):
just ask Okay, we can d M now on TikTok.
I'll message exactly for the kids out there. Listen to
what you just said. Okay, And in the meantime, I'm
going to send you some bedazz, a little pair of
some slitting shades that you can rock to. Oh my god,
(21:52):

something exactly. Thank you all right, honey. I love you.
