Speaker 1 (00:00):
On today's episode of the Command Center podcast, we have

(00:02):
a special guest, Jeremy green Man, one of the most
fun guests we've had on all season. We also have
breaking news from Adam Schefner. I'm not gonna tell you
what it is. You have to listen. And it's day
three of the combined workouts. Man. We got receivers, running backs, quarterbacks.
It all starts right now. Welcome to Ticket to the
Draft podcast. I'm Logan Paulson here, and you know this

(00:25):
is one of the fun things about the combine. We
get to make friends, right and I met a beautiful
man today with a beautiful beard. His name is Jeremy
green ESPN Radio Ashville Sports Ocracy at ESPN Draft NERD. Jeremy,
thank you so much for joining us today. We really
appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Absolutely. It's pleasure.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
And not only is Jeremy joining us, but we had
some issues with our setup, our radio setup, and he
has provided us this beautiful podcasting space. And so he's
a beautiful man and a saint, so thank you so much.
But in addition to being a saint, he knows a
lot about football, and we have some interesting football news
and Commanders Land one there's been a trade, as reported
by Adam Schefner, And you know we're gonna talk too

(00:59):
much about the details of the trade, but I feel
like Jeremy's a great person to have on to talk
about what he thinks of Deebo Samuel and how it
fits for Washington. So what do you think.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Well, we went into the off season and I thought
one of the biggest things that Washington had to add
was a running mate for Terry McLaurin. I kept going
back to the Ohio State connection with a Mecca bookup
because I thought it was really perfect. Was I thought
I was out smart in the game, and your GM,
mister Peters, the savant that he is, he outsmarted me.
I actually think, knowing what I know of Jaydon Daniels,

(01:27):
going back to when I evaluated him coming into the draft,
I love the idea of having that weapon slot piece
that Deebo Samuel will provide. And I don't necessarily think
you're done. I know you added McCaffrey last year. He's
probably the interesting part to me sure of how do
you now negotiate those two because I think McCaffrey does
work better out of the slot.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, well, I think that's interesting. A couple of things there. One,
you're one of the very few people had Jade Daniels
as the number one quarterback last year. I did just
to give you some insight on where his head's at
in Washington. We would probably agree with you. But I
do think Deebo Samuels is an interesting piece right stylistically
because he is not a conventional outside receiver, but he
does have kind of this playmaking nuanced playmaking ability to

(02:09):
his game. Luke McCaffrey, like you mentioned, is kind of developing.
You know, only played receiver for a couple of years
when he was at Rice, So yeah, it just makes
It's kind of exactly what the commanders need, I think
in terms of getting a little bit more dynamic. And
I think the fun thing about is it gives you
juice at multiple spots in the offense. Right would you
agree with that?

Speaker 2 (02:26):
I would. It's great with with somebody like Jayden that's
so lethal in the run game. That's where I always
look at with offense is how can you become more multiple?
Where are the ways that you can confuse a defense
by doing as many things as humanly possible. Debo can
line up at running back. I don't think you will
do that as often as Kyle Shanahan did, but it
is still something to know you've got to move piece

(02:47):
that that helps Jaden even more. I didn't. I don't
know how often you ran pre snap motion last year.
I saw more of you.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
He's got better as the year went on.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Debo's the ultimate pre snap motion piece because you at
him in motion and now the defensive highlert because he's
run out of the backfield, he's run jet sweeps, He's
done all kinds of things, and it keeps the green
dots eyes moving. That's anything that can do that with
a quarterback that progresses through his progression the way that
Jaden does, that sees the field the way he does.
It's just another piece. I didn't know who was going

(03:18):
to trade for Debo. I knew that the compensation was
going to be interesting. But the more I think about it,
the more I think Washington is the perfect team to
have added him.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, it does feel right, And I think the other
thing that I get really excited about is Cliff Kingsbury
and his ability to kind of maximize playmakers and kind
of identify what people do well. And I think like
you said, you know, they'll find a use for that
unique skill set that Debo samples provide. But one of
the things I love that you said there is you
don't think that the Washington commanders are done. I think
that's very fitting because ultimately this is a draft show
and we got to watch a lot of Receivershi that's

(03:48):
where he met hanging out watching White out to do
their thing, and just I guess we'll start high level
and then get more specific. Is what do you think?
What do you think of the group today? You know,
what do you think of the group today overall and
the performance of the wide receivers.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
I think this receiver class is really good. It's really deep.
It's not as good on the high side as it
was last year because you had Brian Thomas Junior, you
had Milink neighbors, you had forgetting what Roma dunes, a
Marvin Harrison junior. That's how good it was. I'm actually
forgetting guys. This one is. It's not quite like that,
but it is dealer's choice no matter what you're looking for.

(04:22):
We saw some great high weight speed ras guys today.
I think you have a lot of really good route runners.
You have a lot of not as many x's. There's
a lot of guys that I think are are not
slot specific, but they're probably better out of the slot.
And then you have the unicorn, and we have a
few of those that jump really high and they run
really fast, but I'm not sure if they can do

(04:44):
that one thing that's so important, and that's play football.
I don't know if they can do that.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
So obviously, like you're saying, there's a bunch of guys,
and I do think I agree with you, like and
of the guys that I've watched, and I haven't watched
as many guys. That's something else I got to just
highlight real quick as you have written reports on seven
hundred guys will by drafting, which is a lot of reports.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
I'm roughly at three hundred right now, which means I
got fifty fourish days right to hammer dumb.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
So just to give you, like how psychotic our guy
Jeremy is, like, this is an impressive guy who watched
a lot of film. So yeah, I do agree that
there is kind of a nice little kind of i'd
say second to fourth round kind of player there. And
we just talked about the Deebo Samuel trade. But in
that second or fourth round area, is there someone where
you're like, man, this would be a nice complimentary pleace
in terms of playmaking ability to what the receiver room

(05:30):
looks like now in Washington.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
That really depends on how they feel about Diami Brown.
So if what he got out of Dami, he's not.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Under contract, he might be a free agent. So if
he is, let's just say say he's gone, right because
again I think he's going to make more money than
he rightfully, so'll say he's gone.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
What's the role if he's gone. I'm looking for more
of that X type on the outside. That's harder to
find in this class, but there are still guys that
are out there. Matthew Golden ran incredibly fast. I see
him as more of a stef On Diggs type. But
now he's now after I've seen him the combine, he's
the steff On Diggs that can run a four two
age forty, which is really interesting to me. You get

(06:07):
a little deeper than this.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Probably a first round guy, though, I would say, right I.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
Would say Golden goes. After what we saw today, I
would say Golden does go in the first round. Then
it becomes more of a question of where exactly are
you wanting to invest the capitol. So you make the
move on Deebo Samuel. That tells me you're not going
to do it in round one. So now that's not
your biggest need. You've got other things that you're going
to tackle. So if you're looking for more value, I'm

(06:32):
just trying to think of a guy off the top
of my head. It's harder when I go into one
team as opposed to doing it for YEA.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Let's talk about like you know. To me, it's like
there's guys like Kyle Williams, Jalen Knowle, you know, Isaiah Bond.
I think it's probably the second round player. Does any
of those guys catch your fancy and say, hey, these
guys could be difference makers in that second round for wash, I.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Have Isaiah Bond in the third, especially after he started
saying I'm going to run a four one night and
then he wasn't even the fastest receiver from his own school.
That's I mean, I understand why guys do that either. Yeah,
it's like lying to your spouse. At some point they're
going to find out. And the more you lie about it,
the worse. It's going to be so Alec, how you might, Alec,

(07:11):
how you manner, which is a really easy name for
me to say. I love him out of Stanford. I
think the quarterback play was really bad and such a fluid.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Let's talk about that today. I mean, so a quarterback
play at Stanford was bad, but also a quarterback play
in his session today was not great. When he was
catching the football, like you actually said something to me
when we were kind of hanging out, like, I don't
think there's been a ball completed for ten passes, and
that's not a great for any That's not great for
anybody in the workout today.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
For sure. If if we were putting on a golf course,
we're throwing a lot of snowman's and nines because there
were a whole lot of lipouts. I always feel bad
for the quarterbacks of the draft because basically we work
you out by working out the receivers, and so you
have to throw with every receiver in the group. There's
no connection whatsoever. I don't know where you're going to
round off routes. I don't know where you're going to

(07:56):
cut off routes, and we expect you to just be flawless.
I notice when yours I think he almost hit the
banners at one point because every ball he threw was
so high, so he's trying to give everybody an opportunity
to catch pass.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
It was absolutely true, though, And I like that you
brought up at Maner because I think he is a
guy that looked a little bit stiff today in the workout,
but that's kind of what it looks like on a film,
but has that ability to kind of win with that
physicality on the perimeter, which is I like you said,
those guys are hard to find, and I wonder if
because they're hard to find, he gets pushed up boards
a little bit. Because that body type is so unique.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
I think all of the ex'es are going to get
pushed up. So I'm just looking at not even my
rankings because I'm not gonna to do I haven't updated
my rankings since the combine, so I'm looking at Drafteck
rank The tit row is the Luther burdens that those
guys are going to be going in the first run, right,
so you start looking into the second round. Matthew Golden
helped himself probably put himself in the first. Then you
go Trey Harris elk au Manor and he get into

(08:49):
these guys that are all what are they?

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Well, the guy next on the list that you're reading
right there, which I think is Jayoni Higgins, he hit
this monster day to day.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
He had a monster day. And those guys always make
me really nervous, tell me because they become unicorns, and
we I always call that the off seasons, lying season.
It's also dumb, dumb season where we see a guy
that runs. He's six' four and he ran a four to.
THREE i can't remember the gu four four. EIGHT i
think four four eight and all the athletic testing numbers were, fantastic.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Vertical, crazy, broad and that's.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
Fantastic he's a great. Athlete the problem, IS i go
back to the tape and go but there's a lot
of times that you're not a great football. PLAYER i
like the fit For washington With higgins because you got
to be. Patient Iowa state is one of those schools
that THEY i Think Matt campbell does a good job
of finding two three star. Recruits he develops them because
they stay in the program, forever but then they're really

(09:44):
contoured To Iowa state so he's been there four. Years
i'm really good at What Iowa state asked me to.
Do this works with their defensive guys. Too but can
you do you have any versatility outside of? That you
were so raw coming in here that you never really
played anything. Else you were just a big guy that runs.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
Fast. YEAH i was surprised by his workout because to,
me he felt like a slot only guy and then
now he worked out like he's a TRUE. X but,
like which do you trust in this? Example which do
you trust more of the, film which is kind of
like he's a big slot kind of Like Drake london
the way they use him In, atlanta or is he
a guy that you think up? Outside at some POINT.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
I trust the film. MORE i thought he could be
developed into AN. X BUT i was looking at him
at the back end the three beginning of. Four, okay
now he's going to be pushed, up and that's to.
Me the combine is so dangerous for that reason because
you get a guy Like Jaden, higgins WHO i had
a high grade on in terms of future. Projection BECAUSE
i think you're gonna go a little. LAYER i can

(10:37):
be a little slower with. You this is A i'm
A jets. Fan so the, Reference i'm, SORRY i call
this The Stephen hill.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Rule oh, great pull by.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
You Stephen hill Was Stephen hill couldn't play dead in
A cowboy. Movie but he was really big and he
was really. Fast they did forget there is another thing
that you have to what's that? Work? Catch you do
have to be able to, catch and he could not do.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
That this is unfair To Jaydon higgins to compare him To,
hell like of all, people to compare him.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
To so they have a physical. Profile we've been seeing
us up on the board at the combine Of, Hey
omar And hampton is just Like Breecee, hall except for
the fact their games don't replicate each other in any
way whatsoever Because Breeze hall is way short area quicker
shift here in terms of the physical, profile there is
a connection there to a lot of guys and the
bus rad on that's really high because they come to

(11:24):
the combine here they run really fast and we start
getting we start salvating over the. Projection this is what
you can. Be you gotta focus more on what they.
Are Jaden higgins in the third, ROUND i can play
you thirty to thirty five snaps the rookie. Year try
to bump that up to thirty five to forty the second,
year and then by the third. Year now you're a
true inline starter Because i've been able to develop. You

(11:44):
Dami dami with you. GUYS a great. EXAMPLE i covered
him At North. CAROLINA i loved the raw. Potential he
really fit At. Caroline he's one of the leading receivers
we've ever. Had but then he goes to THE nfl
and he went a little bit higher THAN i expected him,
to but it never felt like he found a role
until this the end of the year last, year and
now he's going to cash. In and this is the

(12:06):
cycle of THE nfl because NOW i feel like he's
going to cash, In he's going to be asked to
be something that he's.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Not. Yeah, ABSOLUTELY i think he's a really that's gonna
be really interesting to, watch like how he kind of.
Progresses another GUY i wanted to ask you. ABOUT i
don't know if you've watched him From Colorado State Tory. Horton, Yes,
so what's so because he's a guy in terms of x's,
right and he's coming off a knee, injury not a
lot of production Twenty andy four was an absolutely. Monster
in twenty twenty three ran well today had a really

(12:31):
good forty, time ran a four to four to, one
WHICH i wasn't, expecting BUT i wasn't either six to.
Three he's like one hundred and ninety five, pounds so
kind of got that. Build what do you think about
him maybe in that kind of third or fourth round For.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Washington, Now Tory, horton that's the funny thing about the.
Combine Tory horton didn't blow out the, combine but he
had a really good.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Workout.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yea so now look at that guy and, go your
projection didn't actually. Change now you're still in the back
end of the three beginning of full and now the value
on you is so much. HIGHER i can be patient with.
You and that makes me like the future projection For
Tory horton better THAN i like it For Jaden.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Higgins oh, okay so, yeah let's sell a click on
that for a. Second so what about? It because you,
know when you look At, higgins he's crazy productive in.
College you see him on every, route and then you,
know Obviously horden is coming off this injury where there's
a little bit of gray. Area why do you feel
better about his projection.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Because he's going to go. Later, okay SO i can
really maybe him. Along. GUY i, mean you know What i'm.
Saying In Colorado, States you're talking about a huge jump in,
competition and he's not. Refined he does a lot of
things really, well AND i can steer into that early
as a. Piece But i'm WHAT i found that a
lot of teams do is they take a receiver in
the first round and they Go they just kind of
wipe their hands and, Go we're. Done we took this

(13:37):
kid in the first. Round now we have our. One
everybody else moves. Down our former one becomes our. Two
we move guy into the slot that we really, like
and the receiver room's. Done but not a lot of
not all of these rookies are. Refined, Yeah Chris alive
is one THAT i don't know Why i'm stuck On
ohio state receivers.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
Today there have.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Been a lot of good. ONES A lave was a
guy THAT i DIDN'T i didn't love him coming. OUT
i loved his raw, talent AND i liked the fit
In New orleans originally because you didn't they didn't have
a dedicated. Slot Michael thomas was hurt all the, time
SO i could slide a live into the slot WHILE
i was teaching him to play AT x and teach
him to be an outside receiver because he had done

(14:18):
it so much At Ohio. State you don't really see
teams do that with top fifty. Picks savvey On williams
a guy THAT i feel pretty sure you're gonna ask
me about at some point because he's HE'S i came
up with.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
THAT i was going to ask you about. Him but
and then they allegedly Signed deebo, said According Adam, scheffner yeah,
so but, yeah they are very similar, prospects.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Right, Yes and And Savvy williams is one of those
guys THAT i was afraid he was going to come.
Here and my line About savvey On williams is HE'S i,
know he's a unicorn FROM tcu by the, Way, yes
the receiver that he's Like Cordero. Patterson he plays running,
back he plays. Receiver he doesn't really have any nuance
with any of. It my line With Savvy williams is
he's a. UNICORN i just haven't decided yet IF i

(14:55):
want to write it or eat.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
It, yeah you did say that, today Because i'm not.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
SURE i don't know if IT'S i don't know if
that's an eating meat or if that's a pet. MEAT
i don't. KNOW i know it's, good, yeah BUT i
don't know exactly what it.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Is and is there anybody that's like your guy that
you're like, Saying, hey, Man i'm really excited to see
this player in like maybe a developmental role or a
guy that maybe people aren't talking about the same. Way
AND i know we've got a lot of people here
at the combine that are tough to talk, about but
just if there's anybody that comes to, mind you're, like,
oh maybe this is someone that deserves more Pub, basically.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Well one of the bad things about being a draft
nerd if you're even kind of good at. It AND
i would, Say I'm I'm i'm like scratching the surface
of maybe one DAY i will kind of be good at. This.
YEAH i was in love With Dante. Thornton, okay Because
tennessee had a ton of receivers and they love the
cycle guys in and, out so there's a ton of
trail all the tires can get for.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
You this is going to look good for you this
kind Of i've talked about him.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
A lot BECAUSE i knew he was going to run.
FAST i did not know that he was going to
go Full Eli. Manning think, fast run fast to a
four to. Three, YEAH i didn't say.

Speaker 1 (15:48):
That, come he's six, five like two, fifteen two, seventeen
so a big, dude big, dude run.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Fast i'm always a fan of the big receiver that
can run fast early because at the very, least every
team in THE nfl just watched you run a four three,
forty so they see you pop out on the outside
for that ten to twelve to fifteen snaps that you,
play and what does that safety? Do safety is invariably
looking at, him, going please don't beat me, Deep please
don't beat me, deep because if that's if you catch

(16:15):
that step and Now i'm trailing, you this is gonna
be one of those tapes that teams use against me.
Forever of See Dante, thornton you weren't paying attention and
over the top he. Went Jalen, hyatt the kid played
for The, giants also went To. Tennessee he's another one
of those he's not a great refined. Prospect they have
brought him along slowly because he wasn't a, refined finished

(16:35):
product at. Receiver but what he could do is be,
real real, fast and he's still real real. Fast so
every time he hits the, field you have to worry about.
Him WHERE i get into issues is with the more middling.
PLAYERS i don't tend to love the, bigger bodied hands
catcher that plays out of the. Slot love. That so
The Jack betches of the. World now he's an exception

(16:57):
BECAUSE i do love.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Him well today thought he looked. Again he's a Little
it's so funny because he's good at, football but he's
a little, stiff he's a little. Slow he just is
good at. Football so like to, me he's, like you,
know kind of a poor Man's Cooper cup kind of
you know WHAT i, Mean like that type of guy
where he's got to go to the right spot to be.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Successful jack betch Is Julian edelman If Julian edelman had
eaten his wheedies and drank his milk and said his.
Prayers because he's way, bigger is way more, physical and
he's a really good hands. Catcher that's WHAT i like.
About but if you're gonna be one of those, guys
you have to be really aggressive and really violent at
the point of the catch because you're not going to

(17:36):
outrun these. Guys so you're. Good everything you do is
going to be, contested and, betch everything he does is contested.
Contested the only thing is that every time he does,
it he wins because you're so violent with his. Hands
and that's WHY i like him. Now And i'll Just
i'm looking down the list Here Kyle. WILLIAMS i Like
Kyle williams with the ball in his, hand but he's

(17:56):
a smaller. Guy he's not violent at the point of the.
Catch he showed today that he's not as crazy. Athletic
that was. SURPRISING i can't say THAT i didn't think
the forty time was going to be. Crazy, YEAH i
thought the splits would be.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
BETTER i actually THOUGHT i was actually honestly fine with.
That as a route, RUNNER i was a little bit
disappointed just because he was a little bit, Stiffer LIKE
i like the route runners to be kind of nice and,
loose have like a nice loose fox Wolber, back and
he was just a little bit, stiffer a little bit,
tighter kind of to your, point like that top shelf.
Movement skill wasn't there the WAY i thought it would be.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
There he was really impressive with The Singer.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Bowl great at The Singer.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
BOWL i had a coach tell me something about him
BECAUSE i started waxing poetic About Kyle, williams and he pointed,
out it's our. Guy and one of my favorite guests
that comes on my show Can't. Briggs he's a head
coach back In North. Carolina he was a defensive, guy
so he was watching him from the defensive. Perspective i'm
watching him from the receiver. Perspective he's talking about how

(18:53):
you defend, him and he said he's never going to
be a safety over the, top never because he's just
not straight lined. Fast so ALL i have to do
is keep him in front of me and keep that
short area. Burst so THEN i start watching him at
the combine AND i understand, now going back to the,
film why before we got into The Senior bowl and
into the postseason, PROCESS i had him as a five
to a. Six, WELL i bumped him up after The Senior,

(19:14):
bowl but then he comes here and he confirms everything he.
DID i believe there are three tiers to every prospect.
Evail there's the film there's the postseason game and. Week
so if you have The Senior Bowl Shrine, BOWL i
take less into The Shrine, bowl but it's it's still
there in my head because you're playing with a similar
level of. Talent and then the combine two of two

(19:35):
of those three are going to tell me the exact same.
THING i usually take the other one as an. Outlier
Kyle williams the outliers of The Senior. Bowl not gonna
say he's off my. Board he's just a DEVELOPMENTAL i,
think slot exclusive, player not Somebody i'm going to put
a ton of resources, into but somebody that maybe he pays.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Off and AS i, say that's not a bad. THING
i think it's, because like we always talked about this
on the, show like the draft is ultimately about mitigating
risks for chanaging. Risks so can he develop into? Something,
yes like he catches the, football, well he's very productive in.
College you saw him do it again at the senior.
World but there is this kind of lack of elite
athleticism that's going to make that very difficult for him
at THE nfl. Level and we've talked a lot about wide.

(20:14):
RECEIVERS i want to ask you something about defensive line
and offensive, line and it feels like that's the spot
THAT i would assume The Washington commanders to go at twenty.
Nine and this is this seems like a very heavy
defensive line. Class defensive, tackle defensive, end and then offensive line.
Also and you know you've written a lot of reports
and just what's your take on guys you think could

(20:37):
fill those roles potentially and be good value at twenty
nine for The Washington.

Speaker 2 (20:41):
Commanders this is a great year to need an. Edge
this is a great year to any defensive tackle because
we're so. Deep so one of the articles THAT i,
write AND i actually be coming out next week on
my website new, Website we're in The we're in the
beta THE Nfl draft Dot. Net i'm really wanting to
launch it for next. Year. Yea BUT i wanted to
see what content, works what, doesn't and what people engage.

(21:02):
With so one of the ARTICLES i write IS i
give every team a ranking of how your draft capital
fits your. Needs i'm A Carolina panther. Affiliate they pick
at eight this week was aces For carolina because you
Had Shimar, stewart you Had Mike, green you Had James.
Pearce you had all these guys that play up into
that top. Ten they were eight in a seven man.

(21:24):
Draft that's as bad as it, gets, Right but then
you get these players that Shmar stewart's, yeah not of this.
EARTH i think if you poked, him green ooze would
come out of, him BECAUSE i don't think he pleads
because he's not of this. Earth, washington on the other,
hand the beauty of them is that they can sit
back at their pick and let the board fall to.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Him and do you THINK i Think that's the thing
That i'm trying to get fans understand IS i do
think at twenty, NINE i think people freak out because
it's in the first. Round there's no like quote unquote
blue chip. Player BUT i say to, myself there's going
to be a good football player. There LIKE i Think
Landon jackson From arkansas is a very reason and we'll
pick Between i'm gonna say twenty five and. Forty and
so if if The commanders picked him as an example

(22:05):
because he killed the combine earlier this, week like that
seems like a nice. Fit.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Lanta jackson's a guy That i'm really high. On AND
i go back to my two thirds. Roll Lanta jackson's
tape is really. Good, Yeah Lanna jackson was really good
at the. Combine Lanta jackson was almost relevant. Singer oh.
STOP i didn't hate on, that, MAN I i just
not hate. IT i was just a Little. LOOK i
live In North. CAROLINA i drive everywhere we, Go SO

(22:32):
i drove like eight hours to go See Landa jackson
and he was in my top five GUYS i wanted
to see and he just left me once.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
More, YEAH i, SEE i.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
See he was Like. Avadar everybody told me how great it.
Was THEN i saw. It it was flying.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
Blue but that's the other thing THAT i think people
don't understand, about like draft doing draft devows is if,
so my expectation for him was relatively. Low so WHEN
i watched the, film it's. Higher, right your expectation was
high and obviously a little bit. Disappointed SO i think
that's totally. Reasonable but, yeah SO i just says a
name to. THROUGHOUT i love. Him he's very.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
VIOLENT i think he would fit exactly what you're wanting to,
do because you're wanting to get Dan quinn. Guys you're
wanting to get guys to play in this defense and
he fits in this defense because he's gonna get after.
Quarterbacks he's, long he's. LEAN i do worry sometimes how
he's going to hold up against the run in THE.
Nfl but the Way washington's, BUILT i don't necessarily have
to have you be the three, down no doubt. Everything

(23:24):
Immediately now to what you said about picking at the
end of the first, round let me take a little
walk down at The Kansas City chiefs had picked at
the back end of the first round for a lot of.
Years you know what the beauty of that. IS i
don't have to reach for. Need so when a guy
starts to fall Like trent McDuffie did in twenty twenty,
TWO i go attack, that OR i Have Karl loftis

(23:46):
fall in my, lap OR i Have Racy rice fall
in my. Lab that's the beauty of being a good.
Team you have a ton of free agency. Dollars so
if you're looking at the draft and you're not comfortable
with this tackle, class you don't think there's going to
be one there at the in the twenties that you
go attack tackling free agency and you be in the.
Draft you're reactive to what the other. Teams DID i

(24:07):
pull for a bad? Team i'm also an affiliate for
a bad. Team there's a lot of bad teams in my,
life AND i don't get a lot of, joy you,
know for somebody that does football for a, LIVING i
don't get a lot of joy from.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
It. Yeah, Yeah SO i think that's a, great great.
Point AND i think something else THAT i forgot to
ask you about. Earlier because running backs did go. Today
quarterbacks did go. TODAY i, Know washington quarterbacks not a big.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Thing oh, no you already did. That, well thank.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
You, yeah we don't Do, yeah that was one of
the great things about covering your team last year is
game changing. Quarterback but the quarterback class this year high level.
THOUGHTS a lot of people aren't that stoked about. It
is there anybody you're, like hey, man this guy's better
than people. Think the guy from The louisville comes to.
Mind for.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
ME i Love Tyler Shuck. Shuck there are. Two, yeah
his name doesn't look like it's it's pronounced the way
that it, is BUT i can't attest it As Tyler.
SHUCK i Like Jackson dart a. LOT i after this,
WEEK i Have Jackson dart at. Too over over Shed.
ORTON i like Cam. WARD i like Cam. WARD i,
mean and all of these Quarterbacks i'm in like and,

(25:05):
like all, right we're we're. Dating you, know it may
be a nice dinner at The Olive. Garden we're not
talking rings or anything like. That SO i, MEAN i
look at all of these Guys Olive applebee's for those
dollar marks we were talking about. Earlier we're having some.
Fun maybe it leads to something one. DAY i don't.
Know if it, doesn't then no, harm no. Fail the

(25:26):
problem is that Cam word's going to go at, Two
h's going to go at, three And Jackson Dart i've
already resigned myself to it is going to The jets at.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Seven if that you said that to me earlier, today
that would be.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
WILD I i, mean we just saw it last. YEAR
i was at the draft In detroit last year and
we were up on radio. Row so the way that
works is they set up the whole. Thing you're upstairs
in the convention, center so they come in to do
their interviews right behind. You the window was open SO
i could Hear Roger, goodell but it wasn't up on the,
television AND i heard with the eighth, pick The Atlanta
foul can Select Michael Pennox AND i looked around and

(26:00):
did he just read the wrong, name because THAT i
Had blood's coming out of my ears now AND i
don't understand the words that you just. SAID i think
that's what you're gonna With Jackson dart as we all
just look around At.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
He's not Even it's not the same prospect, though you
know What i'm, Saying, like where Would Jackson? Dart like
where would any of these guys rake in last year's?
Class AND i AM i did a lot of quarterback
evoul last. Year i've done as much this. Year but
it just seems like all those, guys you felt really
good about the floor of, them you know WHAT i,
Mean you felt really good about where they would, fall
their abilities the, Upside and this year it's there seems

(26:32):
to be more questions than.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Answers, okay So i'm gonna go blind rank last three
years WHERE i would rank the. Quarterbacks i'll go back
to twenty. Two love It and now that makes it
sound better than it, is because twenty twenty two, crickets
none of, them they're all, Terrible and only was That
Kenny Pickett's, yes that was little tiny, hands can You?
Pickett and, yes it's a little hand signal THAT i,
do AND i wiggle my fingers and. Go it's because

(26:54):
he looks like he just tiggled you with his. Land
Kenny pickett was. Terrible that whole class was. Terrible so
you can take all them. Out IF i was going quarterbacks,
NOW i would Have jaden. One drake may would have
been my. Two Bryce young would have been my, Three
Caleb williams would have been my, four and then we
start getting into the maybe a slide Cam warden right.
HERE i Hated Anthony, richardson so, okay and that might

(27:19):
be a little. BIASED i really didn't Like Anthony. RICHARDSON
i THOUGHT. J. J McCarthy was super. Raw Bo nix
was that's the settle day we're talking. About we're making the,
relationship that's the we're both forty. Five let's just LIKE
i don't want to Die, Loan SO i, mean you're a,
quarterback we need a. Quarterback let's just let's just go
To Atlantic city and just gamble away our life. Savings it's,

(27:41):
fine there's just no upside to. It AND i Liked.
PANIX i would Say Michael Pennix junior and Cam ward
in terms of, GRADE i have one tenth of a
point off between the two of them in terms of.
Grade and then you get Into Jackson. Dart he would
be closer to like a, McCarthy where he's just a lottery.
TICKET i know he has the. RAW i like the
body the knock on On, dart AND i think this

(28:04):
is really. Stupid So i'm gonna preface. That everybody talks
about how well he plays in this pick and pop
system and he can't do. Anything but he. Didn't he
played AT usc and he was really good until you,
KNOW usc looked around and, went WE'RE usc and we
don't use anybody, appropriately which is why every one of
our players goes to THE nfl and gets. Better. Yeah
SO i just look At dart and the totality of the.

(28:26):
Evil there's a lot. There DO i love the idea
of him going. TEN i would prefer him to go
at the back end of the first beginning of the.
Second But I've i've mentally told myself that fifty year
options going to push him into One's there's a no
doubt of that some team is going to fall in
love could be The, steelers could be The. Jets then
from there it falls off a cliff and boo. Bird

(28:49):
Will howard probably is my. Four him And Tyler schuck
are my four and, five and it's just a question
of which one DO i like. Better i'm warming To
howard And i'm staying pretty neutral On. Chuck i've always
been higher on. Him he went to the series president.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
Today he was impressive. Day he's am president of The SENIOR.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Rowl he's an impressive. KID a lot of things have
gone wrong For tyler. Show he's had three catastrophic season
ending knee. INJURIES i, mean he's twenty five years. Old
i'll give you a fun little u pull a little
info getting ready for. This Javonte williams is a free
agent in THE. Nfl he is twenty four point seven years.
Old Tyler shuck has not been drafted yet and he

(29:27):
is twenty five point two years.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
Old he's an old.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Fellow he's A he's the only draft eligible quarterback that
can rent a.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
CAR i, mean, facts, man nothing to say about. That
BUT i think this is this is. Relevan this is
a relevant, conversation right because for the, commanders because this
is A commander show is because instead of last, year
where there's six guys that go and it pushes down
all these. Prospects, now some of these guys that are
fringe guys like we talked About land And, jackson Are

(29:55):
higgins the receiver From Iowa. State they're going to get
pushed up boards in the areas where you wouldn't expect
them to normally go. Right AND i think that's why
this is a relevant conversation because the quarterback, classes it's
not pushing other positions. Down the.

Speaker 2 (30:08):
Best the best thing that could happen For washington the
back end of the twenties is a team falls in
love With Will. Howard, no, no.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Don't say, that and they want to and don't you say.
It you're get to trade in the first round For Will.
Howard that's what you're saying right.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
NOW i love.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
You you've been. Amazing we might have to fight after this.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
Show, well here's the thing you got to. Remember we
don't have to convince thirty two. Things, yeah we're one
that's desperate looking at we are going to start To
Rod taylor next. YEAR i don't THINK i want, to all,
Right And i'm not saying THAT i think it will.
Happen there is there is so much smoke With Will
howard that it's for. Me it gives me the, angina
AND i start FEELING i might have a heart attack

(30:48):
BECAUSE i Saying Will howard in first round pick in
the same, sentence is is? Lunacy that it's it's like grapefruits.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
INTENTION i literally loved every every word you've said so,
far and all of a, sudden this comment unvalidates everything you've.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Said there are teams that Like Will howard so. Much
D i think somebody could do. Something somebody does something
stupid for a quarterback every, year fact or. Fiction if
somebody does something, stupid it's a.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Fact if that were to, happen that would be awesome
for think.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
Manners, well we now. Can't we can't tangibly look At Jackson.
Darton so you're gonna do something stupid because we think
he's distanced. Himself so if you take him in the first,
round you AND i both agree he does look like
a first round. Quarterback, true maybe not, seven but it won.
True so where does where's the? Dumb? Dumb trading at
thirty trading up to twenty nine to Get Will hour

(31:36):
that's one of those That i'm just gonna yell out
the door and, go you shouldn't have. Done you're going
to regret you did.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
That, obviously kind of a week year for, quarterbacks. Right
but one another group that worked out today was running,
backs AND i have been overwhelmed by how talented this
group appears to. Be and we didn't see the workout
today because we were running around trying to find our.
STUFF i couldn't find. It that's where we're doing the podcast.
Here and you're beautiful. Kitchen but but give us a

(32:04):
couple of high level thoughts on this, group because, again
like there just seems to Be get to like, ten you're,
like that guy's a good football. Player get to, fifteen
that guy's still. Good get to like. Twenty you're saying
this guy could start in THE nfl at some point
in a. Role AND i think that's that overwhelms me
with this.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Position you remember when we were kids and they had
Those goosebump. Books there were scary books and, you depending
on how you wanted it to, end you flip to
a different page and you could you basically wrote at
the ending. Yourself that's how running back works in this.
Class whatever you need you can, find and we have
two bel. Coals Ashton gent's a. BEILCOW i don't like
him as much as everybody else, does but that just
MEANS i don't have him at three, overall, RIGHT i

(32:38):
mean he's my.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
ELEVEN i mean he's my eleven, overall and just for,
context like that's still amazing for running.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Back and for me to say that about a running
back is. Insane i'm by the Male kuiper theory Of
i'll never take one of the first.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Round i'm the same. Way and so he is a
very talented. Player and Then Marion hampton's another guy that's pretty.
Talented how was his workout? Today he was, very very.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Good he's a guy that we obviously covered With North,
carolina AND i think he's the do everything. Back he's
a better pass, catcher that's no. Doubt his film In
Pass pro is, better that's no. Doubt he's not as
good between the tackles as, genty but for, me theire
ONE a in ONE b his gens eleven And hampton's,
fifteen and.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Again talking about superhero traits with running, backs his contact
balance to me is. Tremendous he is to, me he.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Is he's what we Thought Javonte williams would before the knee.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Injury great great comp and and.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
With Mac jones just Or Mack, Johnson Mac jones was
the god awful quarterback for The. Patriots Mac brown recruited
a lot of the same type of running. Back he
always had a, bigger, angular, upright, shifty do everything back
and then the backup was a smaller guy that kind
of filled the area of. Weakness he did the same.
Thing javonte And hampton are very similar looking. Prospects to,

(33:53):
ME i Like hampton better AND i think he IS
i keep putting in with The Chargers i've, seen oh,
yeah and The chargers are really intriguing to. Me The
vikings are really intriguing to. Me then you get into
that second, here which is WHERE i think The commanders
would come. In, yeah BECAUSE i love B. Rob, yeah
AND i think he has a role in a. COMMITTEE
i just don't think he could be the head of the.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
SNAKE i think that's kind of what a lot of
fans are kind of feeling at the. Moment and so,
again we think he's very, talented good football. Player Austin
eckler is still under, contract so two, backs BUT i
do think you could add a little bit of juice
potentially that. Group and a guy That i'm seeing on
your list here Is junkins From Ohio, state who is
the big. Guy he is the big, guy but he
also ran like a small guy, today which was.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
Surprising Quin John judkins Is he's a tough evaluation because
you just haven't seen the depth of the. Work oh,
yeah AND i thought that his last year in college
would be that, year and then he transferred To Ohio
state and now he's Got Trevon henderson and those two
they compliment each other so well that it may be

(34:54):
covering up a, deficiency which is Why i've been. More
i'm going to wade in the shallow. End i'm not
Saying i'm not in the. Pool i'm just not going
to dive in head first BECAUSE i don't know which
one of YOU i really like. Better judkins has that
there is high level tape With. Judkins he can be
a absolute home run, hitter threat threat as a bigger.
Guy but THEN i watched the tape On Travon. Henderson

(35:14):
he looks. Better it's just it's kind of picked your
poison of what you're, looking and.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
So how do you rate the workout? Today because he
always he crushed the. Workout today he. Did henderson was
a little BIT i don't want to say, underwhelming BUT
i thought he'd run a four to three and look like,
that you know WHAT i. Mean but in a round
a four four and again it's not a bad. Time
but to see the more explosive player be the bigger
player was surprising to.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Me it wasn't incredibly surprising to me AFTER i watched a,
lot because this has been one of the bigger Problems i've.
Had BECAUSE i know that my fourth running back is
going to be a running back From Ohio. STATE i
just don't know which one it. Is and NOW i
would Say i'm penciling In Quenchohn. JUDKINS i want to
go back and verify the tape one more. TIME i

(35:55):
have the greatest hits tape Of Ohio state that has
BEEN i have hit that button on this computer so many.
Times at this, POINT i know exactly what's. Coming i'm
just looking for the. NUANCE i Like, TRAVON i don't
think he necessarily has the higher level traits for all of.
It and then you get into The scatabooze And Dylan,
samson who WAS i wasn't overly impressed with the, workout

(36:18):
BUT i didn't expect to.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Be. WELL i don't think he didn't, run he didn't do.
Something he didn't jump one of the things he'd expect
him to, do because he's supposed to be crazy, explosive
and you're, like if you're, explosive just do the.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Thing we had a lot of that this. Year, hey
wait a, minute so you're not doing the thing that
you're good.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
At, yes that. Could you're supposed to be.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
GOOD i want to add a layer to the combine
OF i want the guys to work out. First so
we did the Workouts, Monday, tuesday wednes The thursday, probably
and then we talked to Them, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Sunday
BECAUSE i would kill to ask some of these, guys
why did you not? Run what did? YOU i? Mean
or in the case of a guy Like Gunner, heilm

(36:55):
why did you?

Speaker 1 (36:56):
Run our Guy gunner Hell? MAN i MEAN i love?
HIM i, mean do you don't love?

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Him? THOUGH? I, WELL i love him. Less NOW i
can order a pizza From dominoes and have it delivered
in the time it took him to run the, Forty
so that did unsettle.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
Me, yeah it makes you a little bit a little bit.
Nervous but Like Mike green is one that for, Me
you're supposed to be explosive and, fast but you didn't
run a forty like so that's one where it's, like
THAT'S i don't.

Speaker 2 (37:22):
Know, Well Mike, green and that's a guy that you
THAT i would really like with with.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
Commanders oh, Yeah, Well, jeremy this has been so much
fun And i'm so glad that we met you today
and we got to do this lovely. Podcast where can
people find you because you've got a lot of stuff going, ON.

Speaker 2 (37:36):

SO i will have top twenty fives at every, position
will have mock. Drafts, wow, yeah and it's twenty. Fives
some of them go to thirty, Five Like i'll go

(37:56):
to thirty.

Speaker 1 (37:56):
Five you're going to say, less but geez, man some of.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Them some of them go. Less, WELL i, Mean i'm
not gonna lie to. You the twenty fifth quarterback And
i'm not even SURE i Have.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
There's no way there's a twenty fifth quarterback.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
Who would be the twenty. Fifth i'm just gonna look at.
It they went to twenty, one And i'm not sure
who he. Is So Kim, Miller NOW i know Who
Cam miller. IS i Know Ethan. Garber's his brother plays
in THE. Ufl his brother is a. Backup put it this,
way his backup or his brother is a backup quarterback

(38:26):
in THE. Xfl and he looks at his brother's tape and, goes,
MAN i HOPE i could be here WHEN i grow.
Up that's twenty so it's not.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
Good so, okay they can find your draft stuff there
anything else they can find.

Speaker 2 (38:40):
