Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey guys, I'm Kaylie Shore and this is too much
to say asking questions. Turn it out you Okay, So
we are back with another Minisota. It is the last

(00:22):
one before we relaunched. Too much to say with some
just like a new format, some new energy. I think
it's probably the best way to put it. Um. So, Yeah,
I've been taking the last month off just to kind
of re evaluate where I want the podcast to go
and also just kind of enjoy a little bit of
time off. I'm currently in Nashville. I've had a series

(00:43):
of wedding related events. Two of my best friends are
getting married back to back weekends in October. So I've
just been doing a lot a lot of that. Um.
But I've also been listening to a lot of podcasts,
and I do that in general a lot. I really
like to just have them on in the background. Clearly,
if you're listening to mine, you're probably a podcast person,
so I don't need to explain the appeal to you.

(01:04):
But um, I wanted to share something that I've been
listening to while I've been looking for inspiration on what
to take like do with the podcast, where to take it? Um.
So with that being Sun Um, here's some of my favorites.
So this is another one from the I Heart Network.
It's called Family Secrets by Danny Shapiro. It is a

(01:26):
different same host every time. This amazing author, Danny Shapiro.
She has a an experience with family Secrets, having found
out like a very very big revelation that I will
not ruin for you, um, about herself after her parents died,
and having to deal with processing that information and like

(01:47):
finding out that your entire childhood, like you now have
this new lens to look at it through. And that's
the coolest part for me with this podcast is people
find out this huge revelation about their family and it
makes everything makes sense. And that is like basically the
the the statement of this podcast. Um, it's amazing. I'm
listening to one right now. That's one of my favorite
episodes I've listened to. It's called bug Dust and it's

(02:09):
from April nine. But I've listened to so many of
these and I'm a huge fan. Um. I Also, I
love me some murder podcasts, but I'm very picky about
my murder podcast. UM. I don't like ones that are
too like funny, you know, Like I don't want it
to be like an old British man. It sounds like
he's hosting something on the animal planet. But I also

(02:31):
don't want it to make light of things that are
like super fucked up. So, UM, I really love Crime Junkie.
I feel like they take an amazing approach to it.
It's hosted by these two childhood best friends, Ashley and Britt,
and Britt is actually out with a massive brain injurview
right now, so it's just actually hosting it. But they
have like a huge cult following. If you guys have

(02:51):
ever listened to murder podcasts, you probably know what Crime
Junkie is, and they just they're really great. They do
a lot of philanthropy work and do a lot to
help actually solve these things versus just doing like murder porn.
To quote the South Park episode about it, like it's
not just like a gore violence and her legs were
cut off. It's like, really it's intellectual true crime in

(03:15):
my opinion, and it handles it with you know, the
respect that these cases deserve. So huge fan of Crime Junkie. Um,
there's also some long form podcast that I really like.
This is another I heart podcast. I'm not trying to
plug my heart brothers and sisters. But I have found
while compiling this list that so many of them are

(03:36):
by heart podcasts. Um. But there's this one that I'm
obsessed with. It's like a long form crime podcast and
it's called hit Man, and it is about this publisher, Um,
like a book publisher back in the eighties published a
book called Hitman, a Technical Manual for Independent Contractors. And
it was written by under a pen name, by something

(03:56):
named Rex Ferrell. And it is like crazy detailed in
actions on how to kill somebody and be a hitman.
And it ended up like having all these like huge
cases because people like actually kill people following the steps
of this manual. And it really like had people reevaluate
what free speeches. And it's just it follows this one

(04:18):
family who had a really really brutal murder. UM that
was because of the book, because somebody got their hands
on the book. It's just it's really really great and
the entire like for it being a long form podcast
and just covering like one topic, it's amazing. UM. I
also really love Dear Therapists with Lori Gottlieb and Guy

(04:39):
Winch Um. I've talked about Laurie's book You Should Talk
to Someone Before on the podcast, and it's one of
my favorite books ever. My therapist actually recommended it. But
it's like a therapist, he grows to therapy. But dear
therapists they have like they basically just a record a
session that they have with a patient every week, and
they're so insightful. There was this one about this woman

(05:00):
who wrote these like letters to people that she never
sent and they were just like rage filled over seemingly nothing.
And I've never felt so attacked in my life, and
I didn't realize that people didn't just do that, like
whether they're writing it down or mentally doing it. So
it's it's very insightful, and it's not just like processing
the you know, just broad strokes of trauma. It's like

(05:25):
very detailed, specific things that are like very entertaining and
also very insightful. Um but it's not as heavy as
some of the other podcasts that I'm recommending our um Okay.
And then there's one that I really like that is
just a ridiculous. It's a ridiculous podcast. It's all conspiracy
theories and it's called Theories of the Third Kind. I've

(05:46):
been listening since they're like second or third episode, and
they have graduated to have this like huge following and
they're about to start season five. But they have so
many great episodes, and there's some that are like about, oh,
there's one about this cabal that like decided that light
bulbs are gonna run out at a certain amount of hours,

(06:09):
and like light bulbs don't actually need to, Like there's
light bulbs on the planet from before this cabal was established, um,
that have literally been running since they turned on in
the like thirties or forties. So fascinating stuff there. That
one's called Theories of a Third Kind. Love that one, um,
And I'm probably gonna remember more after I finished this episode.

(06:31):
But those are some of my favorites, and I hope
that you guys check them out, let me know what
you think, and I will be back next week with
the next like season era of Too Much to Say.
Thank you guys so much for bearing with me during
this break. My name is Gally short, this is too
much to say, and we'll see you next week asking
questions tell it out. You m
