In the fourth episode of Truth Hounds, Kyle does the unthinkable: she goes on a vacation. Without Anna. It is only fitting, then, that Anna and Kyle decide to take the opportunity to investigate whether being apart makes their friendship more meaningful. Separately, Kyle arranges a little surprise for Anna. But: could this surprise change the Truth Hounds forever?

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Truth Hounds, a production of I Heart Radio.
I'm Anna and I've been unemployed for about a year now,
so I really have nothing going on. And I'm Kyle.
In middle school, I received the award most Enthusiastic to Learn,
so that makes me pretty special and that is what

(00:22):
makes us the perfect investigative duo. We are two friends
who love each other very much, but what we love
even more is getting to the bottom of mysteries. All mysteries, sure,
but small mysteries specifically. Trust me, No mystery is too small. No, no, no,
Why don't you trust me when I tell you we

(00:42):
are ready to sniff around? We are the truth Hound.
Hey Kyle, Hi, Hey, it's Anna. Hey, Um, what's up?

(01:03):
Well are you busy right now? Well, actually, I'm um
folding my laundry, but then I actually folded it wrong,
so I'm refolding it. Okay, Um, okay, well we actually
need to talk. I'll be right there. Boo, Hi, Hi,

(01:27):
thank you so much for meeting me here. Yeah mm hmm.
Was the drive okay today? Yeah it was, I mean
it was long, but yeah, I mean it is really
beautiful I know today. I mean the water is really
high up water is really high up to me. It
looks like I don't like Iceland or something. Yeah, very

(01:50):
kind of Nordic. Yeah, like, um, it's a moody day. Yeah,
it's very moody. Um. Well, actually I know you brought
us here to talk. There's actually something that I need
to talk about. Oh um, I'm actually going to visit
my brother in New York for a few days. Um

(02:13):
wait what Yeah, I haven't seen him since the pandemic,
so I I'm vaccinating it now, so I kind of
want to Yeah yeah I get that, but but what
I don't understand what you're saying. What I'm going to
be in New York for a few days to visit
my brother, so I won't be able to do any
like investigating. So I'm sorry, Okay, can you can you

(02:38):
just can you really walk me through what you're saying? Uh? Yeah.
So I called my brother and he was like, why
don't you come down and visit me. We haven't seen
each other in a while. Um. I said, okay, We
picked a date. Uh. I booked the flight on Delta

(02:58):
uh too to their to New York and back from
New York, and I went on Airbnb and I found
like a good place to stay. And I messaged the
airbnb host and told him, you know, I'm not going
to mess around with the place, right, I'll be a
good guest, and he agreed, and so then I booked

(03:21):
the Airbnb and then so, yeah, I'm But then I
came here and I wanted to tell you that I'm
going to New York. See, I I just don't. I
guess I each of those points I get, but I
don't understand. Um, well, I guess what do not understand about? Okay, guys,

(03:44):
I have to interrupt. Obviously I understood what was going on.
Kyle was going on a trip to New York. I'm
not out of my damn gord. But what I didn't
understand was how she could do this to me. And
I'm kidding, but I just knew that I would miss
her so much. I explained to Kyle Howe it was feeling,

(04:08):
to the best of my ability. Well, so when you're here,
there are things about you that I love that so much.
But I'm what I'm really afraid of is that when
you're gone, those things are gonna be gone too. So
I'll just really miss that and I'll miss you. That's
what I'm kind of afraid of is that you know,
you and those things that I love about you, we

(04:31):
will not be here. Yeah, I mean I get that,
but I guess I wonder, well, how do you know
you're going to feel that way? Because I know myself
and I know that I'll miss you, but you know,
it's only a few days. I think that we we
we kind of just don't know. Okay, guys, let me interrupt.
Obviously I understood what was going on with Anna. She

(04:53):
was worried that time of part would be too much
for her to handle. And I get that. I'm not
a big bitch. But here's the thing. I was only
going to be away for a few days. A few
days wouldn't make a big dead Well, I don't think, okay,
but I think the question that we're both kind of
dancing around here is like, like, does distance make the

(05:18):
heart grow fonder? Yeah? I think I think so episode four?
Does distance make the heart grow fonder? So we came
up with a plan. I Anna just stay home. I

(05:40):
wouldn't go to New York at all. In fact, I
would do the opposite. I'd just stick around here in
Los Angeles and see what that felt. Like Kyle wouldn't
be here, So I would observe my reaction to that
and see if it really made me miss her more.
If distance makes the heart grow fonder her absence, well

(06:05):
it would do just that, and me, Kyle, I would
go to New York and have a great time. I
think I would see what it was like to be
on my own in the Big Apple. But to be
honest with you, I did wonder what that would be
like for Anna. I mean no doubt she was a

(06:27):
strong and independent woman, a real force to be reckoned with.
But I couldn't help but think about her day to
day needs and how I fit into it. All. I mean, okay,
like yesterday she called me because she saw a bug
scaling her wall. Okay, first of all, I didn't see it.

(06:47):
I heard it. That's scarier. Second of all, it wasn't
the wall. I heard it bouncing off the curtain and
my curtains there, and you know that, and that means
that they're soft and cushioned, so you shouldn't be able

(07:09):
to hear the sound of bounce. All right, all right, Anna,
we get it. I was on the phone with Anna
that day while she listened to the Big bug bounce
down her curtain. I know it may seem like I
need Anna a lot, but she needs me a lot too.
What was she going to do without me when I

(07:30):
was traversing New York. I mean, we've all heard the
stories about New York City. There's a guy drilling the
foot of the Statute of Liberty. There's another guy endlessly
twirling dough, screaming. This isn't even Pa Pizza. I just

(07:55):
do it because it's my passion, and I actually work
on Wall Street. There's a model running after a cab
and she's wearing really loud leather pants that are making
squishy sound. Anyway, we all know the stories about New York.
It's allowed place. How would I be there for my

(08:20):
friend if I couldn't even hear her? So I came
up with a separate plan without Anna's knowledge. Don't tell
her yet. I would hire someone to be Anna's friend,
a kind of surgeon, to fill in my absence while
I was gone. It's not that I wanted to throw

(08:44):
a wrench in this investigation. I mean, we were trying
to find out if we'd grow fonder of each other apart.
But I was just looking out for my friend whoa
maybe my heart was growing or something. Immediately there was
someone who came to mind. I gave her a call. Hi, Annie,

(09:07):
there you gol um. I really really enjoyed your reenactment.
It was really good. Oh I'm good. If you remember
last week in our main episode, we hired two professional
actors to portray the potentially mean yogurt person and myself.

(09:27):
Annie was the actor who played me, and she did
an amazing job. I had directed her to portray me
exactly as I saw myself, cool, hot, and confident. Just
a little reminder of that episode. Take a listen, um, Hi, Hello,
I'm excited to get some yogurt. It really shows what

(09:50):
kind of actor you are. I did notice you just
took off your glasses. Is that sort of to represent
this character in a new light? I just didn't feel
like Megan Fox would wear glasses of Michael Bay films,
so I also chose not to. It's the perfect answer.
She was so good at portraying cool, hot and confident.

(10:10):
She must have been cool, hot, and confident. That's the
secret of good acting. It actually comes from a real place.
So what better person to set up Anna with than
a cool, hot, confident chick like Annie, and by the way,
she was Asian like me. That didn't hurt. We got

(10:32):
to talking. Um, I just wanted to touch base with
you because, UM, I kind of have this thing that
I need help with. I asked if she would hang
out with Anna, would you hang out with my friend? Yes?
She seemed a h in just in case, I gave

(10:56):
her some more details. Um, it's just that I'm going away, so, UM,
I just want to make sure she's does not friendless,
like she feels safe and has someone. Um. So I
was thinking, maybe because you played me in the reenactment,

(11:19):
you could hang out with my friend. Yeah, yeah, you
could do that like a good actor. She had some
follow up questions about her new role as Anna's friend.
I mean, is there's something special that you too do? Um? Honestly,

(11:45):
it was a little hard to answer, because everything we
do together is fun and special. I mean, sometimes we
go to the Santa Monica appear and have the time
of our damn lives. Sometimes on a Friday night, will
hop into my Prius and drive to the Hollywood Strip
and go to the Viper Room. Do you guys know

(12:06):
the Viper Room? It used to be owned by Johnny Depp.
The thing about the Viper Room is it brings together
all kinds of people united by a simple common goal
to rock. We don't even need to know the band

(12:30):
that is playing that night. Sometimes I'll pick Anna up
and it's not even until we're on our way there
that we look up who's playing. Then we look up
their band camp, try to memorize as many of the
lyrics as possible so when we get there and they play,

(12:50):
quote unquote our songs were as excited as if we
were really their biggest fans. Honestly, the shock on some
of these bands faces that literally anyone in the audience
knows who they are. That alone is worth a hundred dollars,
which brings me to my next point. This is a

(13:12):
really expensive way to hang out with my friend. I mean,
parking alone is twenty dollars, and there's always like a
thirty dollar door cover. Kyle, But you're saying all this
like it's a bad thing, when the truth is the
more money it costs, the more likely we are to
use the A t M directly across the street from

(13:32):
the Viper Room, which is a Chase Bank with a
huge Janis Choplin guitar statue and its lobby. Oh m hm.
So yeah, we're using the A t M because it's
an expensive night, but in exchange, we're getting a free show. Anna.

(13:58):
You're not supposed to be here. I'm kind of doing
something before my trip. Hey, Okay, Anyway, I didn't want
Annie to know about this kind of stuff. I wanted
someone to hold my spot in line, not replace me,
So instead of actually telling her about all the fun

(14:19):
stuff we do, I gave her some conversation topics to
tie them over. I mean, they probably wouldn't have much
to talk about. Um, and maybe maybe you can talk
about big pants. I know she likes that, big pants.
I know, Yeah, I think she really likes that. Okay,

(14:42):
and maybe you could talk about um, she really likes thongs.
You could talk about thongs. H Yeah, okay, great, Well,
thanks so much for doing this. Sure, I'll set up
the date. Yeah, you got it. Okay, awesome, talk to

(15:06):
you later. By my plan was in place, so I
packed up all my stuff, I mean every little piece
and headed to the airport. After I got through security,
I bought a travel pillow a big bottle of water.
I got a call from Anna. Hello, Hey, Kyle. Yeah, hey, hey,

(15:30):
you can hear me, right, Yeah? Can you hear me? Sorry,
it's pretty loud at the airport. No, no, yeah, I
think I can hear you. It's a little I can
hear a little bit of airport sounds, I think. Okay,
so what's what's up? Um? Yeah, I just wanted to say,

(15:51):
have a good flight, and I hope it's I don't know,
I hope you have fun. And I just I'm gonna
miss you so much. Um, I'm gonna miss you. And
I didn't want you to get on the plane without
having like a you know whatever goodbye and if you
change your mind you want to stay, you know, something
like that. I'm kidding. Yeah, well, you know I can't

(16:13):
change my mind because I know, I book a flight
and I got the I got a place to day,
so yeah, of course I'm at the gate, so I
can't really, I know I should come with the sign.
I'm just siding that happy okay. Yeah, okay, Well, um,

(16:35):
just be safe and you know it's a big city,
so yeah, I would definitely be definitely try to be
safe for sure. Um, hey before I go here, right, Yeah,
I did I do have something. I did something for you.

(16:55):
I was a little worried that, you know, maybe you
would miss me and yeah, you know be or did
not have anything to do. So I actually set something
special up for you. UM. I don't want to give
away to many of the details, but i'll text. I'll
text you, and I think it'll be good for you,

(17:16):
and I think it's I think by the time I
get back, you're going to be like Kyle. Who's Kyle? Kyle?
Who do you know? Right? Okay? Wow? Okay, so look out,
I'm gonna text you the details. Okay, but something set
up for you. Um, I do hear. I think that

(17:36):
they're boarding you right now, so I gotta go, but
I'll talk to you soon though, Okay, okay, okay, have
a great flight. Um, okay, thank you, Okay, bye bye.

(17:58):
I know things are getting really good, but we have
to take a break for some ads and the ad
break is over. Wow okay, Um, Kyle's on the plane,
so I guess I'm kind of in charge of you guys. Now, Um,

(18:20):
what do you what do you guys want to It
was already hard, but was my heart growing fonder of Kyle.
I did a quick pulse CHECKPM everything seemed normal, and
then out of nowhere, I got a text message from

(18:42):
Kyle while she was in the air. How did she
do that? Did she pay for WiFi? The text message said,
please me your new friend Annie at a coffee shop
and m remember Annie who played me in the re enactment.
Think of this as an opportunity to get to know

(19:03):
someone new. Okay, New York is calling. That's why it
says to want to I was a little shocked by this.
If you guys remember my plan for this investigation was
just to stick around Los Angeles and see how that felt.
Now Kyle was throwing a wrench in the works. I mean,

(19:28):
sure I had helped direct Annie on her performance, but
I didn't know this person at all. What would we
even talk about. I texted Annie to break the ice.
I guess I'll be seeing you tomorrow morning. She responded back, immediately,
guess so looking forward to it. She actually seemed pretty awesome.

(19:54):
I got pretty excited, and then I got to bed. Um. Yeah,
I just got into bed. Um, I'm about to turn
off the light. I set my alarm to eight fifteen
because at ninety meeting up with this person tomorrow, So
I think that she'd give me enough time. I'll just
take a shower and get ready. Um. I think it's

(20:18):
about a fifteen minute drive, so yeah, just as long
as I lead by nine should be okay. Um. I'm
really nervous but kind of excited. We texted a little
bit tonight and she seemed really nice. Um. Yeah, it's
always nice to meet new people, and you know, I'm hopeful. Um,

(20:40):
I really miss Kyle. You know she's okay. Um, okay, Well,
good night. I wish me luck. I caught up at
my z S and I was ready to go. I
woke up bright and early. So it's eight thirty in
the morning. I slept um an extra fifteen minutes. I'm

(21:04):
about to get up and take a shower. I woke
up quite a few times last night. UM. I don't
know if it's nerves or yeah, just almost see. Okay, Well,
I guess me like I splashed my face with some

(21:26):
water to wake up, excited for whatever the day would bring.
I did another quick pulse CHECKPM, same as before. I
guess everything with me was normal. I wondered what Kyle
was up to. Then I smiled to myself, probably up

(21:49):
to no good, dear diary. I'm actually really jetlack because
my fight was really late last night. Oh it's a
really beautiful day in the Big Apple, but I'm actually
taking a nap. There also is um a fan that's

(22:13):
really allowed in here, so the audio Pelly sucks. I
got into my car and headed to meet Annie. Spirits
were pretty high. Um, I'm driving now to meet Annie.

(22:34):
It's a really nice day. It's pretty early, but that's good.
I got there ten minutes early, which to me is
right on time. I texted Annie letting her know I
was there, and I offered to get her drink so

(22:55):
that it would be hot and ready when she arrived.
I wasn't trying to set a precedent, but you know,
it was like, this time I'll get our coffee and
maybe next time you'll get it. But then something happened.
I gave Annie's order coconut cardamom latte, which by the way,

(23:16):
is very different from Kyle. She's a nice coffee gal,
no creamer, sugar, grow up. But I gave Annie's order
to the barista. What happened, Well, you listen for yourself.
So it's a seasonal thing. Season that's right. When I

(23:43):
tried to order Annie's coconut cardamom latte. I was told
that it was a seasonal thing. I don't know if
you caught this, but he said that that season had passed.
I thought about Kyle in her black iced coffee. I
wondered what she was doing, Probably something really fun, dear diary. Um,

(24:12):
I'm still feeling a little jet lacked, so um, I'm
going to take another nap. It's a really beautiful day
from what I can see from inside from the window
over now. I ordered just a regular coffee for me

(24:37):
and decided it would be best if I waited to
find out what Annie wanted, since they no longer carried
coconut cardamo latte's. It was a really nice day. The
birds were chirping, people were meeting up. The vaccine really
was here, you can just tell. I sat at a

(24:58):
table in a converted parking lot waited. I was all nerves,
and looking at me, you could probably tell who would
Annie be and who would I be when I was
with her? These were the questions literally plaguing my mind.

(25:23):
And then the next thing I knew, there she was. Hi,
I'm Annie, and I'm Kyle surrogate. Not that it was
about this, but Annie was gorgeous, cool, hot, and confident.
Did not even begin to describe it. Bouncy brown hair,

(25:48):
big smile, an air of poison, elegant. She spotted me
immediately and came over. Hi. Nice. Sorry. I went to
shake her hand, but then something happened to hugly. Whoa.

(26:13):
This was already a one eight from Kyle. Something about
Kyle is that she doesn't like human touch, so hugging
it's just off the table. Needless to say, this totally
caught me off guard, and I feel a little guilty

(26:35):
saying this, but it was actually kind of nice. Once
we got past all that, it was time to come
clean about the drink situation. I have a free emergency.
What I so? I think the drinking he wanted to
season all so I'm so sorry. It was posted on
yelp six months ago. The guy was like, I don't,

(26:57):
I mean, we have other seasonal drinks. Would you tremor?
But because I don't know you, I didn't know if
that was too too much, too much. I didn't want
to guess what are you getting? I'm just getting a
com I'll do that turmeric thing because Americ sounds great.
Turmer got me through my second Madarner shot. Yeah, oh
my god, Okay, I'm gonna get you crisis of verted.

(27:19):
She was super graceful about it, and she had some jokes.
I headed back with Annie's new drink order, the Termeric Clotte,
and got back into line. But as I was standing there,
I wondered what was Kyle up to in New York.

(27:42):
Dear Diary. Um, I just I just woke up from
uh take taking some more sleep. I feel like I
should call my brother because I still haven't. Um. That
was like the point of the trip. I guess I

(28:04):
gotta go back in Los Angeles. I remembered something I
had actually forgotten to ask Annie about her milk preference.
I got back out of line and asked her what

(28:24):
milk she wanted in her Tumeric latte. Yeah, I guess
coconut course. I got back into the line, now armed
with Annie's new drink order and milk preference, but as
soon as I got ready to place my order with
the same barista, I ran into yet another issue. There

(28:49):
was no way to predict this. A m latte, please,
you can't make it up with coconut milk. It comes. Oh, okay. Wow.
I had been in and out of this line for
what felt like two days now. At this point, Annie

(29:10):
would just have to be okay with oat milk. I'm sorry,
but there's only so much that I can do. Um.
So they it just doesn't come with coconut milk. It
goes without. It's fine. It's fine. To a new friend
from there, the conversation blossomed, are you a fan of

(29:35):
oat milk? You know? I really like it, but I
think it's too much sugar. It's too much sugar. That's
the thing. I lived at the content. I was like that,
it's all sugar. It's like seventeen. It was surprisingly easy
to talk to Annie. Honestly, I have thought about should
I buy an air fryer. We talked about all kinds

(29:56):
of things. I'm could I live alone, I'm single and
yeah and uh, and it's like I'm eating out way
more now. I do have I do have quite a
few plants. Um. I recently got a low light plant
from Sunset Nursery because I was like, I do hate
this apartment and I do want to move out, but
I can until I get a full time job where
I know my income and I know all right, fift

(30:19):
it is inevitably going toward l a freaking rent um.
I'm just gonna try to make it nice in little ways,
and plants are one of those ways. We were really
hitting it off, and then on top of everything, she
complimented me in a way that was so specific to

(30:42):
me and Kyle's whole thing. It was almost like she
had been listening in while we brainstormed about our investigations.
Take a listen, Well are you are you? Are you cleanly?
Because I imagine you came here early? I imagine you are, Heidi,
And on top of it, because most are not. Wow?

(31:06):
Did you hear that? Annie said that because I was
on time a k not a late person, I was
probably cleanly. I don't know if cleanly is a word,
but do you remember Kyle and I had just done
an investigation about why people were late. And that wasn't

(31:30):
just any investigation. It was our first one. It was
the investigation that had started at all. Annie, Well, she
just got it. I know Kyle had just set us
up arbitrarily, But when you meet someone who gets it,

(31:51):
that's not nothing. You kind of want them to stick
around in a more permanent way. Finding this out about
Anny that she was literally one of us. It made
me so excited. I excuse myself from the coffee date
and ran straight into the bathroom to give Kyle a call. Hey, UM,

(32:20):
I just why don't you to be a call and
say that. UM, I'm really oh sorry, Uh, I'm really
Let's see if I can go outsited her a little while. Anyway,
I'm really excited. UM, there's just something that just came
up with Anny that's pretty crazy. I really you're not

(32:43):
gonna believe it. Um, I I'll tell you. I guess
I'll tell you in person or something. But anyway, I
really hope you're having fun. I miss you so much.
By Kyle didn't pick up, but it didn't matter. I
knew Kyle, and I knew what she loved, and she
loved exactly this, and my pulse it was racing. I

(33:08):
couldn't tell if it was the fluttering of the new
friendship of Annie or the steady thumping of my friendship
with Kyle. But needless to say, this investigation I was
getting really complicated. I ran out of the bathroom and
back to Annie. Kyle had mentioned that one of our

(33:29):
favorite pastimes was going to the Santa Monica Pere. Annie
and I were hitting it off so flawlessly at this point,
I just went ahead and invited her to the peer
with us. I don't know if you've been in the
Santa Monica here, so much fun we would buy a
day pass, would ride so fun, really fun. Wow, you

(33:52):
know that's something maybe I don't know, you know, if
we end up paying out triple type of vibe. It's
usually our policy to never invite anyone with us. Seriously,
it's just a two of us thing. But guess what
now it was the three of us. We set our goodbyes. Well,

(34:12):
thank you so much. Hug in open to that, thank you.
I don't think right and can I just say wow?
Annie and I had come such a long way. I mean,
think about where she and I had started. She'd asked
for a coconut cardamom latte and it turned out to

(34:34):
be seasonal. It's funny to think about it now, but
I had felt like I was in way over my head.
I mean, I didn't even know this person, and it
honestly had thrown me into a bit of a panic.
But then it turned out that she was just an

(34:54):
awesome girl with an awesome apartment, a couple of low
light plants, and an air fryer. Who this is the
really cool part. I thought about the same exact things
that Kyle and I had thought about. What being a
late person fundamentally said about you. I knew what I

(35:15):
had to do next, and it might seem a little extreme,
but it's okay because I knew Kyle would love it.
And now an ad break. The ad break is over.

(35:41):
I booked an extra session with our editor turned fully
artist Bernard. I knew that he was basically taking the
week off because Kyle was out of town. But the
thing about great art is that it doesn't get to
take the week off. Great art is always clocked in
at work. Of course, on my drive over to meet

(36:04):
up with Bernard, I did wonder what Kyle was up to,
Probably something really awesome. Um, I have about ten miss
calls because I, um, I fell asleep again. UM, I

(36:29):
think I'm I saw a message from Anna, So I mean,
I think she's out and about so I feel like
I'm I'm going to get up. Finally, back in Los Angeles,
I got to Bernard's studio. I explained to him what

(36:54):
I wanted. I wanted the works, And by that I
mean I just wanted to create a little SoundBite kind
of imagining of what would happen if the two truth
Hounds became three. I mean it was right there. Annie
had said it herself. We were triplets. Yeah, triplet type

(37:20):
of I know what you may be thinking. This feels
a little rushed, Diana, you just met her. But I
knew Kyle would love it. Um, Okay, So I was
thinking that if you could just take the kind of

(37:42):
theme music and then drag um and the audio into
that just won't reconstruct it that way. Are you sure
that's a good idea. Yeah, Kyle was cool at this.
Oh she doesn't know yet actually, but it's fun because
I think I really think she's gonna love it. Okay, sure,

(38:07):
And right then a juicy tip came flooding in. Something
you should know is that we have a Truthhound tip
lineup that you, the listener, can call right now. Here
are the rules of the tip line. The tips should

(38:28):
be juicy, the tips should be serious, and the tips
should be safe. Seriously, do not call us and waste
our time. Seriously, if you call us and waste our time,
we will clown on you publicly make a mockery of
you publicly. The number is readily available on our Instagram. Wait, Kyle,

(38:55):
is that you? I thought you were in New York. Uh,
it's not me, it's something else. It's a different chair.
Oh okay, I guess that wasn't hurt anyway. I stepped
out of Bernard's editing bay and listened to the juicy

(39:16):
tip Ki drude Hounds. It's your friend Annie. Yep, the
one that is Kyle surrogate. Um. So, I don't know
if this line is supposed to receive things format it
as a question or statement, but a juicy truth is
that it's really hard to day. Why is it so

(39:39):
hard to find someone that you vibe with and can
fall deeply in love with? Please help me out to Hounds.
Thank you very much, since ley your friend Annie. Huh.
That caught me off guard. I mean, I loved her enthusiasm,
and I loved the way that she unexpectedly used the

(40:01):
tip line, but this wasn't juicy or serious. I had
thought that Annie had really understood the seriousness of our
investigative style, but this sent me questioning the whole thing, Like,

(40:23):
don't use our tip line to ask dating questions. Listen,
we know that dating is hard, especially in l A,
but we are doing something way bigger than that. I
don't know, do you guys know what I'm talking about?
I went back to Bernard's editing bay. Okay, cool, So

(40:53):
I just actually just finished up the think you've asked for.
Do you want to hear it? Yeah? I'm Anna and
I've been unemployed for about a year now, so I
really have nothing going on and un Kyle. In middle school,
I received the award most Enthusiastic to Learn, so that
makes me pretty special. Hi. I'm Annie and I'm Kyle surrogate,

(41:19):
and that is what makes us the perfect investigative troople.
We are three friends who love each other very much,
but what we love even more is getting to the
bottom of mysteries. I listened to what Bernard and I
had created. I know that when I started my editing

(41:40):
session with Bernard, I had said that Kyle would love this,
But hearing it right then, especially after hearing that odd
voice message, it was clear Kyle would not love this.
I couldn't believe how far out of field I had gone.

(42:02):
I had lost sight completely of the investigation. But we
were really after. It was in this moment of heart
shreckoning that I realized, Damn, I really do miss her.
My heart was acting all sorts of ways. I think
maybe I made something. I don't know. I left Bernard.

(42:27):
What had I done? Can I ask you guys a favor,
and can you take it seriously? Can you never bring
this day up with Kyle? Thanks? I left Bernard, But

(42:49):
what I was really leaving was the idea of the
Triple in truth Hounds that would just never be a thing.
I didn't know what I was thinking, so I did
the only thing I could think to do. I drove
to l a X two days early later. I would

(43:13):
say that it was to practice picking Kyle up and
saying hello, but really it was just time to think.
I found the gate where I would be picking Kyle
up in a few days. There's three, No, this is two.
This is where I'm supposed to be right, um from

(43:35):
my husband's Okay, here me go. I double parked and
practiced greeting her like Hi, Hi, Kyle. I'd be like, hi, um,
I welcome back. It's rock star, you know. Yeah? Ah

(43:57):
it looks so tanned. I mean, I guess because the
New York gets hot ray hours. Hi do I looked hand.
Then I could be like, oh, hi, yeah, I had
a great time when you were gone. It was awesome.
I mean I missed you. I'm not saying I didn't
miss you. Sitting amidst the chaos of l A X,

(44:17):
I found peace in the truth. It occurred to me
that this investigation it was never really about Annie. I mean,
it really wasn't. It seemed the further I was from Kyle,
the more I really did miss her. Oh construction, please

(44:38):
don't hunt stop no hole, okays, no, why are they feeling?
I just don't know. Okay, I gotta get out of here.
It was too much. I had to drive away. I

(45:01):
went home ate and showered the Classic three. I kind
of kept to myself the next couple of days and
really used the time to sit with what I had learned.
Before I knew it. It was two days later I
headed back to the airport. I taxied my old stomping

(45:23):
grounds comfortably and gave Kyle a call. Hi, Hi, Oh
my god, I am. I just got outside. Oh you're here.
You're outside, Yeah, outside at the delta. You're outside of delta. Okay,

(45:45):
I'm still a few minutes away. Um, okay, wait, I
think I know. Am I going? It's really easy to Yeah,
it's really empty sound when I when I'm your sharent,
that says it's the Kyle thing. You wouldn't undershare it,
so you just look out what is it says? What

(46:08):
it says, it's the Kyle thing. You wouldn't understand. It's like, okay,
so great, So I think hopefully you can see me.
Okay that I think I see you? Do you? Okay?
I think that you. Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. Yeah,
oh my god, I'm so sorry. I just don't say
it over a woman. Okay, k it's oh, I see you,

(46:28):
I see if I see I see it. Wait ship,
but let me. I just don't want to hit anyone. Okay, wait, okay,
I you're right here, you're right here. But okay, I
don't know if this is okay, I don't think this is. Yeah,
I just hop in I'll just okay hi, hi, oh wait,

(46:49):
yeah you're good. Okay, okay, sorry, oh my god, supposed
to him here, I'm like a word we a lot
of course. Okay, Okay, this is really scary, is really
oh my god? My ground a little situation. Hold on,

(47:11):
I'm so sorry. Oh I can back up, like, okay, sorry,
you're good, You're good. Thank you so much. I'm so sorry.
It's just exciting a lot of emotions. I'm sorry. Okay, cool,
Oh my god, Kyle of the airports Harry, so um,

(47:35):
I've got to ask you. Yeah, well, first of all,
I've missed you so much. Of course, first things first,
I've missed you. So what's going on with like Annie?
I saw like a picture you guys getting out. It's
maybe it's the coffee thing, but is there something going on? No? No,
I mean I mean, yeah, we got coffee and that
was that was fun. And uh, I'm a little surprised

(47:58):
for you. Yeah, gonna go straight to the beach. Wait
say that again. I think we're actually going to go
straight to the beach. It was good to be back. Hi, guys,
it's me Kyle. I was a little taken aback that

(48:19):
after my five hour flight I had to go straight
to the beach. I mean I wasn't even given the
opportunity to do the classic three go home, eat and shower,
but Anna was really intent on going there, and for me, well,
I just missed my friend my part of the investigation
in New York. Well, it didn't go quite as planned.

(48:46):
It was hard to tell how I was feeling about
being away from Anna because I was mostly sleeping. It
was as simple as that. We headed to the beach,
and I don't know why, but I brought my luggage
with me. Take a listen. Oh sign Okay, Okay, I

(49:19):
got it. I'm done. You could just put your suitcase
down right here. Yeah, it's I think there's just like
a bunch of sand in the wheels. Sorry, I'm just
a little out of it. Just got off the floor,
now I understand. Yeah. Well, I'm very glad we're here.

(49:39):
I want to thank you so much for arranging for
me to hang out with Annie. You know you're surrogate, um,
but I loved I loved my time with Annie. But
I guess for me, there are things I love so
much about you that I mean, I feel like I

(49:59):
could maybe even I could probably get there with her.
But but that that kind of is the essence of
the problem, is that it would take time, and actually
all my time is spent investigating, so I don't really
have that extra time to dedicate to her, you know
what I mean? Yeah, And I guess for me, I mean,

(50:21):
New York was really boring. UM, not a lot going on.
I mean again, I don't know if that's because I
was mostly sleeping throughout the trip, but I really missed
you because typically when I'm with you, I'm not sleeping.
So I really missed you. I really missed you too.

(50:44):
I guess the case is closed. I guess case closed
easily on this one. Truth Pounds is a production of
