Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Truth Hounds, a production of I Heart Radio.
I'm Anna and I've been unemployed for about a year now,
so I really have nothing going on. And I'm Kyle.
In middle school, I received the award most Enthusiastic to Learn,
So that makes me pretty special. And that is what
(00:21):
makes us the perfect investigative duo. We are two friends
who love each other very much, but what we love
even more is getting to the bottom of mysteries. All mysteries, sure,
but small mysteries specifically. Trust me, No mystery is too small. No, no, no,
Why don't you trust me when I tell you we
(00:42):
are ready to sniff around? We are the Truth House. Hello, Hey, Kyle, Hi, Hey, Hey,
it's Anna. Hey Hey, um, are you busy right now? Well,
(01:06):
you're actually on speaker phone because my hands are full
of massa flower. So oh oh, I'm so sorry. I
we didn't we need to talk. I'll be right there,
okay o boo, hi, Hi, thank you so much for
(01:32):
meeting me here. Yeah, of course this is maybe silly,
but I'm looking at the endlessness the horizon and I'm like,
where do we even begin? Yeah, I mean, I don't
really believe in God, but it's kind of like, wow,
we are a um, one of God's little creatures exactly.
(01:55):
That's the true no offense to anyone, absolutely totally no fense. Yeah, yeah,
no offense. Um, you know, it's really funny, slightly off topic,
but um, So yesterday I was at my bank and UM,
I had just finished using the A T M. And
I was just kind of done, you know, and so
(02:16):
I left and then I looked behind me and there
was um, this woman and I was already holding the
door open for myself, and then I was like, you
know what, I'll just keep holding the door open for her.
She was so happy. She just seemed so touched, and
it was the strangest thing because to me, seeing how
(02:40):
happy she was, it made me feel so good, Like, well,
I mean that is such a nice thing to do.
And I mean I've actually never I've never done anything
like that. That's not true, No, it's true. Typically, when
I actually opened a door and I see someone else coming,
(03:02):
I'll actually shut it really fast because I'm kind of
like I gotta go, you know, you gotta go. I
gotta go. I don't want to let Aaron. It's not
even about me, like I'm telling you like how kind
of how happy she was, and it felt really good
to just see that. I mean, wow, I just commend you.
And I know you usually pose questions, but I guess
(03:25):
what you're kind of pondering or bringing up is why
does it feel so good to give back? Episode eight?
Why does it feel so good to give back? So
we came up with a plan we would give back
(03:49):
to someone who needed it and see what that felt like.
Our best guess probably pretty good. But the real question
and was whom should we get back to. You can't
give back to just anyone. I mean, a stranger might
(04:09):
take advantage of your kindness. You don't know the kind
of people who are out there sick of So we
thought about someone in our lives who could use a
random act of kindness. Immediately, someone came to mind. We
didn't even need to do a call to action. Case closed,
(04:32):
I mean case open, but that part is closed. Rod.
You remember Rod from a couple of episodes ago. He's
our third friend. Hi, I'm Rod, I'm the third friend.
Rod's a really good guy. In fact, he's one of
(04:53):
the best guys out there. Thanks guys, Rod, literally not now,
zibit zip it back to what I was saying, road Rocks.
We decided that he would be the perfect candidate to
(05:13):
receive a random act of kindness. Without going into too
much detail. Road work full time throughout the pandemic, specifically
as an essential worker. We don't want to give too
much away, but if you ate something during the pandemic,
(05:33):
you pretty much have Rod to thank for that. Again,
not to give too much away, so really, the plan
was to think of something super nice to do for
our third friend, Rod, and that would hopefully give us
some insight into why it felt so good to give back.
(05:55):
We had a couple of ideas of the things we
could do for Rod, but we felt it was important
to get his input. I mean, we wanted to do
what he really wanted to do, so we gave her
out a call. Hi Rod, Hey, what's up guys? Hi Rod?
(06:23):
H how's it going. It's yeah, it's pretty good. I'm
I'm visiting my mom and uh, you know, having it's
having a nice time. Are you visiting your mom? Is
everything okay? Yeah? I just um, I haven't been able
(06:45):
to visit for a while. Poor guy, see what we mean? Wow,
you must have been I guess it's been really probably
a lonely year for you. It's really hard for you. Yeah,
I mean kind have been pretty lonely. Oh gosh, doesn't
that just pull out your heartstrings? We were thinking of
(07:08):
maybe doing something special for you, for you, Yeah, for me,
that sounds cool, kind of like a whole day dedicated
to what Rod loves. Okay, just all right, we take
a look at what Rod's dream day is and then
(07:32):
we do that, we make it happen. Okay, what because
we know it's been a really rough time for you.
It's probably been really tough on so well, I mean
it's been kind of tough. Yeah. Anyway, So we were
just wondering if you could give us five things that
(07:53):
would be in your perfect day. When Rody looked at
the calendar and on the calendar it says it's Rod's
perfect day. Oh that's today. What day? What does that
day look like? I mean, I guess I I want
to I want to hang out with my friends, right,
(08:14):
that's like that's on the top of the list. Hang
out with your friends. Okay, Okay, that's what I guess.
That's one. That's one, right, I mean, I guess i'd
like to, Um, I would like to Gamble number two
Gamble getting better. These are a little bit more imaginative. Wow,
(08:40):
let's see, I uh, maybe go see a movie. Some
of my top things to do. Oh crap, Um, I
get a mark Arita. Okay, that's not enough. Okay, that's fine, Fine,
(09:08):
that's fine. You have one more thing, the fifth thing.
I guess, Uh, I mean, go eat, go eat something
good that I like. I don't know what I'd figure
it out. Yeah, I mean, it's hard for me to
(09:28):
plan a perfect day. But if I think of I mean,
I think if I'm gambling and then I go out
to eat and then maybe see a movie, I think,
I mean, all these things kind of add up, especially
if you're doing it with your friends. It's gonna be it.
It's gonna be a fun time. Okay. Wow. Before hopping
off the phone, we all agreed on a calendar date
(09:51):
for Rod's perfect day. It would be in about two weeks,
giving us plenty of time to plan. So we at
our goodbyes. There's plenty here that we could work with,
and um, I guess we're just um, we'll see you
on the day. Okay. So we gathered information from Rod
(10:14):
about his perfect day and thought about setting our plans
in motion, and then we kind of got sidetracked. I mean,
things were opening back up in the city and it
was an amazing thing to witness. Los Angeles, a recent
(10:38):
ghost town, was really waking up. It felt parision. The
mood was happy and festive. People were finally together again.
You see, we didn't necessarily forget about road. It's just
(11:01):
that we started to find important. When any Parisian girls
found important coffee and gossip. Thank you so much. Do
you be any chance have to eat all the milk?
I think I'm just gonna order like a croissance. I mean,
that's really all I know. You have a globe outie. Yeah,
(11:27):
what have you been doing? Mm hmm, I've been trying
a new oil. It's it's working. Anna. What's up, Rod?
I know we said that we didn't forget about Rod's
(11:47):
big day, but I have to come clean for Kyle
and I we well, we absolutely did forget about Rod's
big day, and it was two days away and he
had taken off work. I mean, he probably has to
(12:10):
submit r t o s like a month in advance.
We just we couldn't bail. And to make matters worse,
I had double booked. I don't know if you've ever
double booked, but it feels really bad. You see, this
(12:33):
was like months ago, way before rod his big day,
any of them. I had made dinner reservations with my parents,
who live in San Francisco. They would only be in
town one day, and that one day, you guessed it
was also Rod's big day. And it was a restaurant
that you have to book an advance. There was no
(12:55):
way I was giving up my dinner reservation. There was
no way. But here was the real dilemma. It was
also too late to cancel on Rod. I mean, I'm
pretty sure he had requested it off at work, where
he was, by the way, being a hero. Oh man,
(13:21):
how is in a real predicament? Our intention was to
give someone the perfect day, not to break their heart,
stomp all over it, spit on it. Kyle, Honestly, I
(13:41):
think we can make this work. What time is your
dinner reservation? Um? Six thirty Jesus, that's early. It's just
that my parents go to bed at eight, and also
so do I. Well. Look, Rod never specified the duration
(14:03):
of his perfect day. I mean, he didn't say we
had to spend fourteen hours together. I think we can
still do it. You know what, I'll do you one better.
I think we can still throw him the perfect day.
In fact, if we just up the stakes, that would
(14:28):
make up for the lack of time spent together, so
it would be more perfect day in less time. I
don't know. I'm just worried about making my dinner reservation. Okay,
I get that. What if I was to tell you
I would have you home by two pm? Wait? Wait, wait, wait, wait,
(14:53):
that's not even possible. What No, I'm telling you what
I have in mind. Trust me, you won't have flaked
on Rod and the investigation, and you'll have plenty of
time to get to your dinner reservation. I think you
can even do the classic three beforehand, go home, shower,
(15:18):
and sleep. I didn't know what Anna had up her sleep,
but I trusted her since Rod's big day was in
forty eight hours. And then I got together to discuss
her little sinister plan. We did some research this one actually,
(15:39):
so we would be back by one thirty. So this
is the website. Well, they have an art section and
the three art display areas highlight the work of local
artists who create beautiful art using various media. Wow, that's cool.
The artwork is featured for one year in the room too.
(16:00):
To know. Um, it looks like he looks he doesn't
look like an artist. I like that. Literally his phone
numbers listed? Yeah, give me, I'm not that trusting. Please
take me off any phone list any if I don't
want you to contact me. Any chance I get I
just chance. The last digit of my number for people
(16:21):
just one? Yeah, I go, it's a four. Anyways, this
sounds great. I know things are getting really good, but
we have to take a break for some ads. And
(16:41):
the ad break is over. It was the day before
Rod's Perfect Day, and Rod well, he had no idea
what was in store for him. The day that we
had planned for him would require him to get plenty
(17:04):
of sleep, so we sent him a text road we
will be picking you up at six thirty am tomorrow Tuesday.
Please be waiting at your front door at that exact time.
Make sure you have your I d He texted back,
(17:29):
I'll try to go to bed at seven pm. At
sixty two pm, I checked in, I hope you're nice
and tucked in for bed right and early. The day
was here. My parents dropped me off at Anna's place. Weirdly,
(17:50):
I was waiting outside of Anna's for like ten minutes. Huh.
It wasn't like her to be late and keep me waiting.
I shook it off, and before I knew it, we
were leaving him really excited. He's like smiling ear to ear,
(18:12):
morning rong, good morning. Rod's perfect day was finally here.
First on the list, A big surprise. You're going to
drive out of outsound. Rod was going to drive my car. Okay,
(18:34):
I've got to be honest with you. This wasn't actually
a part of Rod's perfect day. I just can't drive
in the freeways. But Rod doesn't know that. And the
thing about a surprise is you don't actually know its boundaries.
You don't know where it starts and where it ends.
(18:54):
So as far as road knows, this was a part
of it. And so far he see really excited. I
know not much has happened so far, but I gotta
say it really was something to this whole giving back.
Then Rod took over driving. Where am I going? You're
(19:17):
going to go straight here? Okay? And and I got
comfy in the back seat of the car and checked
in with Rod, um what kind of what was your
thought as you drifted off at the slumber last night.
I kind of had trouble sleeping last night. I mean
(19:38):
I probably went to bed at ten, but then I
woke up around midnight and stayed up till about like
one thirty or two. Guys you tell them to go
to bed at seven, they stay up all night. Next
thing you know, they're outside shooting hoops using a table
saw to build a chair till three in the morning.
(19:59):
Oh god, ice, now straight through the light. They just
in then fer De terminals. Okay, alright, so we're at
the airport. Okay, So we were at the airport, and
(20:23):
not just any airport, the Burbank Airport, the best airport
in the world. No offense. We parked our car, so
I mean, what are your speechless, sir? Truly I'm speaking
this is with ample time. We strolled up to the
(20:47):
ticket counter. Hi, Hi, Casco the trait yes, and he
took back okay, thank you. In the second here, thank you,
Here you go, thank you, thank you. And Ronny, So
you're going out of gate, be forwards to your left.
(21:08):
Here I see a flight in front of yours, and
I's sorry taking off, So I just don't get on
Ron fight. Okay, awesome, thank you. So obviously you and
Rod are now on the same page. We surprised Rod
(21:31):
with a flight. Remember, we wanted to plan the perfect
day for Rod so we could understand why giving back
felt so good. But also remember Kyle had unmovable dinner
reservations at six pm with her parents, so I thought,
(21:52):
go ahead, plan the perfect day. But it's just gotta
end early. And the only to subdue any potential disappointment
from Rod was to up the antie and what says,
I'm living life, baby, more than taking a flight somewhere exotic.
(22:15):
Yes I did use the word exotic, but one of
the denotations of the word exotic is just somewhere that
is new to you, and where we were going was
definitely new to all of us. I don't know what
(22:36):
is Pasco. Just to be thankful for the opportunity, I
am thankful. I want to go to Pasco. I didn't
know what Pasco was, but you know what, there was
a lot I didn't know, and that is what growing
(22:58):
up is all about, realizing your own shortcomings. So there
we were sitting at our gate about an hour early
for our flight to Pasco. Try Cities, Washington. The reason
why we chose Pasco was because it was a out
(23:23):
of state, so that adds some intrigue. B it was
two and a half hours away. See, once we got
to Pasco, there was a flight shortly thereafter that would
bring us back home. Indeed, I'd be home by two pm,
so I could make my dinner reservation with plenty of
(23:43):
time to rest in between. But of course Rod did
not know all that. And hey, do me a favor.
Don't tell him. Okay, okay, our time, this is our day.
(24:04):
It's it over here. I don't know. I think this
is are you on a magazine? I just you know,
we got quite a little flight ahead of us. How
long is it? Is it really two and half ound?
I'm sorry? Does it no? I just I mean, I'm
trying to think where we could go. Well, it says
it right there. Yeah, we're going to the Pasco Tri Cities.
(24:28):
I don't get what you don't understand. Not to complain,
but we weren't getting a lot of enthusiasm from Rod
at this point. And it's like, we bought you a
plane ticket to Pasco Tri Cities, Washington, Washington, out of state.
(24:51):
Loosen up your time, Mr wall Street anyway, sorry, We
tried to get him excited about Pasco by showing him
the webs side of the airport we would be flying into. Okay,
So there are there are tons of amenities at the
Pascoe Tri Cities Airport. Um, there are three art display
(25:13):
areas and then it's actually those highlight the work of
local artists who great art using various mediums. Oh that's cool,
and our art work featured at the airport from one
year as home. It is featured at the air pertforming
here and then is rotated out to offer an opportunity
to exhibit another convolution of art. An a moment. As
(25:37):
a reminder, carry on items are limited to one. We
boarded the plane bursting with excitement. We took our seats
and quiz Rod on his plane style. You see, Kyle
and I had the unfair advantage of well history, Oh
we've flown together it you know what I meet broad Well,
(26:04):
not to kick a dead horse, but he's the third friend.
So the farthest we've traveled with him was I don't know,
Glendale to Burbank like just now. So yeah, we wanted
to know his plane style. Well, so if the um
(26:27):
lady comes by to offer you a drink, but you're sleeping.
Do we wake you up or Now that's a great question.
You have to know each other's batteries because of sea.
Kyle and I travel together quite a bit, so we
know each other's plain style. I mean, I do not disturb.
I don't know what to have a plain style. Your
seat boss should be security fassins little tight around your
(26:47):
waist too, fasses answer the metal frost and just to
the focals and ties and paulis as its strap. Are
you guys ready? You guys all have your seat built
on a little bit. Okay, did you hear all the
safety interruptions in because in case we have a water landing.
Ready for the water landing, I made sure everyone had
(27:07):
their seatbelts on safety first. At this point, we were
feeling really good about everything. I mean, here we were
in the middle of our investigation, making Rod's dreams come true,
and looking at him you could really tell how grateful
he was. There was a certain glow about him. I'm
(27:38):
gonna I'm just trying to take a nap. You know,
sometimes when the best thing happens to you, you get overwhelmed.
And sleepy. We've all been there, like if I ever
win an Oscar. I mean, I'm thinking my mom and
dad and everyone who believed in me along the way.
(28:00):
But the second nice step off that stage, I'm catching
some z s. I worked really hard to get here,
to win this Academy award. Let me sleep. So we
all did our own thing on the plane right there.
Rod slept, poor guy. He woke up at five am.
(28:21):
Me Anna, I read the New Yorker. I got a
copy of the New Yorker, so I should probably be
reading that. And me Kyle, I just held on for
dear Life's gonna hold on for dear life. We settled in. Yeah,
(28:46):
all I see right now is cloud. I wish that
there was something to describe right now. Two and a
half hours later we were there Pasco Try Cities, Washington.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Pascal, Washington, where the local
(29:07):
time is approximately a TENNY, and we'll be talking for
the next few minutes. The first leg of the trip
was complete. We were excited for what the day was
going to bring. And now an ad break. The ad
(29:35):
break is over. Be queued up to get off the plane. Excited.
It's your big day? What are your most excited what
are you most excited to know? What my big day? Okay,
(29:56):
a reminder, we're doing something nice. Nice work for you
because you've had such a hard time. You had such
hard COVID. We've been single, you've been working on the
front line. Is a single man working on the rent lines?
No offense? Do you know how lonely that I mean?
(30:17):
It sounds I have coworkers and stuff. I don't know.
It sounds like I'm by myself the same, Okay, I
tend to go out. We set our goodbye to the
wonderful airline staff and stepped out of the airplane which
had become our temporary home, and took our first steps
(30:39):
onto the soil of beautiful Pasco Tri Cities, Washington. Literally,
it was such a small airport. You had to exit
from the plane onto the tarmac and then just walk
into the airport. It was a journey of about three steps.
Thank you to fight, Thank you YouTube. Take it in.
(31:03):
You're taking it in. I'm taking it in. Lis is nice,
very cool day. I like it the beautiful Pasco Tri Cities, Washington.
It was a beautiful day. The air was crisp, full
(31:24):
of possibilities. The wind carried with it a kind of
Mediterranean mystique. The very soil smelled fresh, honest Mediterranean. What
am I even thinking? This? This was America. We walked
(31:53):
into the airport. He was small, but honest, good folks here.
You could just tell Kyle, don't forget the folks set.
You're right Anna, good folks and folks sets. There we were,
(32:15):
the three of us, Rod, Anna and I. We stood
shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm, as if to say, Pasco,
we have a ride. We took one ceremonious step forward
(32:38):
and then we stopped. Here's the thing. Remember how Kyle
had dinner reservations at six thirty pm with her parents
and she wanted to be able to do the classic
three beforehand. Well, the only way that she would be
(32:59):
able to do that is if we got back from
Pasco Tri Cities, Washington as soon as possible. And by
that I mean right then. That's right. We had to
get back on the plane immediately. We turned around, directed
Rod's attention to the gate information and waited for Rod
(33:23):
to catch on, but not for too long because we
had a flight to catch. That's her flight. So we
got immediately check back. Rod was speechless. That's why we
(33:54):
really wanted you to take in sort of because I
don't know how much time or We quickly checked in
with the gate attendant burning and honestly, our boarding probably minutes. Okay, perfect,
just make your great. We knew we had to board shortly,
(34:18):
really shortly. In fact, our flight to Pasco had arrived
a few minutes late, cutting our time at the Pasco
Airport even shorter. To be honest with you, when we
looked on the Pasco Airport website, we thought maybe we
would have time to check out some of the local art,
(34:39):
have lunch. She used the restroom stretch. But nope, the
gate agent told us we had approximately fifteen minutes until
the flight boarded, and if we weren't there, they would
leave without us. I mean, would we even have time
to get a souvenir to prove that we ever stepped
(35:00):
foot in that beautiful airport? Oh? The kids shop, I
just I like that. Yeah, wait, I want to get one.
We each got a postcard. There was one with an
eagle on it, one with a beach chair. But I
don't even have time to explain we have a flight
to catch. Honestly, there was no time to look at
anything else. We immediately checked out. Okay, we gotta check
(35:24):
out here. I'll get them all. So we're in a rush. Yeah.
Kyle offered to pay for everything just so that we
could move on. And then Rod appeared out of nowhere
like a damn Poulter gunst holding a bag of flips.
Those are chocolate. You know what, it doesn't even matter.
(35:45):
I'm excited for the rest of my perfect day. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Rod,
we'll talk about it on the plane. We don't have
time for this. We'll get you the flips. It's on us.
We really didn't have time for this, so we did
the only thing we could think of. We made a
run for it and took in as many parts of
the airport as possible at Olympian speed. Okay, we're really
(36:13):
gotta go. You got that. I have probably like five minutes.
We probably it's probably. There was just one thing left
to do, get a photo. We had to commemorate Rod's
perfect day. We asked a nice looking lady to take
our photo. Weeically asked lady figure a group picture. Oh yeah,
(36:34):
go ahead, you sure about? Thank you so much? Oh yeah, yeah,
that's good. Thank you much. Oh other way, Yeah, just
like the other way. It's hard to explain exactly what
(36:57):
she was doing here, but she had a screen of
the phone facing us, and the camera was about an
inch away from her face. So we were standing there
looking at a super close up image of her on
the phone screen. We were in such a rush. I
(37:18):
thought that New York would be like this. Turns out
the real metropolis was Pascal all along. Oh yeah, it
looks good, Thank you. We don't have time. Perfect thing. Anyway,
We got the shot and we ran back to the
gate to make our flight home. Oh my god, our cordage.
(37:40):
We got back on the plane and took our seats.
We fastened our seatbelt, nice and tight and safe us.
We sighed a sigh of relief. This day was an
absolute success in terms of the investigation. Hell yeah, it
(38:04):
felt good to give back to Rod. I mean, if
you guys could see Rod right now, he looked totally
tuckered out, like a child after opening all of his
presence on Christmas Day or one of the ones on Hanukkah,
no offense. If this is how good it felt to
(38:25):
give back. I wanted to give back all the time.
Now we all talked about what an awesome day it was,
although for a second, I'll be honest, it kind of
felt like Rod was disappointed or something. I don't know. Yeah,
I guess there was a little bit of a disappointment
(38:46):
that it was just we're just going to you're joining
us today. But then again it was hard to hear him.
I don't know. Maybe I was just being sensitive. No
big deal. Anyway, we all got really comfy and slept
(39:08):
the whole way back. I know it's an expensive way
to get some rest, but oh man, we needed it.
Waited Darlin, welcome for a Hollywood purday. Alrighty, all right,
(39:29):
so what are they can? I want to six him? Yeah,
so you're you've got plenty of time before your Yeah,
I'm thinking about all the other things I can do
them in pak that's great. I know I can't spend
time with my dog. Oh yeah, that's good. That's a
good idea. I might, you know, exercise, I might do laundry,
(39:51):
even though I don't really it worked out well for
because it really worked outful. Yeah. Yeah, there's the day
to do what really matters. Honestly, guys, I love this investigation.
Giving back was awesome. Not only was Rod the happiest
I've seen him in years, but I would have so
(40:13):
much time to do stuff I had been putting off
for weeks. Anybody else having a really hard time adjusting
after the pandemic. My time management skills are like in
the toilet. It's so hard to find time to even
do your laundry. So, yeah, this felt great. It's hard
(40:36):
to pick favorites with our investigations, but this one rocked.
We set our goodbyes to Rod. All right, I think
we're We're at Rod's place, is it? Yeah? Um, thank
you so much for driving yourself back. Justs a reminder,
(40:58):
and it doesn't drive on freeways, and I honestly didn't
have the energy to drive. So Rod drove us to
the airport and now drove us back in Anna's car.
But wait, wait, wait, don't forget about the last part
of Rod's perfect day. Oh that's right. We didn't tell you.
(41:23):
We have one last surprise for you and Rod, and
that's saying goodbye while showering him with compliments. Is that
a new jacket? I know I've had it, I've had
it for a while. It's really look really good. Thank you.
(41:44):
I don't know what it is about this time of day,
but you look fly, really look. I think's told me
that before this time of day you talk like or heat. Ye,
it's or something like that because it's but it's also
(42:05):
like midday PM and the sun is high. The sun
is really hot. I mean, I think this is really
your time to shine. Thank you, you look great. Thank you.
And when all was said and done, we asked him
for his thoughts on the day. How would you know?
(42:29):
What would you say? I mean, it was is interesting.
We asked him to zoom in on that a word
like interesting can have so many connotations. We needed to
know what he really meant by that. It was it
was interesting. It's an interesting day, okay, okay, kind of
(42:50):
like what you would say kind of perfect almost perfect, Yeah,
I mean almost perfect. Yeah okay, but I mean in
saying it is almost interesting, is definitely almost perfect. We'll
take that. Bingo. He said it was perfect. We said
our goodbyes. The rest of your day, all right, well,
(43:13):
thank thanks. I guess I'll see you guys sometime. Yeah, okay,
you can just you're gonna talk all right, okay, okay, bye? Ron. Great.
By the way, it had been a long day already,
so we treated ourselves to some fresh oysters and then
(43:37):
headed back to the beach to talk. What a day,
but a day. I'm really tired. Yeah, I'm really tired.
And I guess we gotta get you out of here
pretty quickly. Right. Yeah, I'm a little stressed out because
the reason why we book such a quick trip was
because I have this dinner reservation. It's thirty so coming
(43:59):
all the way out to the b each and then
having to drive back is like I could drive straight
to the thing. And so I'm I really hope I
can make it. But no, I really appreciate you coming here,
so thank you so much. And well we'll just kind
of we'll just kind of do it quickly. And yeah,
and I think we did a really good job. And
I feel good. I feel great. And to see the
beautiful smile on his face, that's right, giving back. I
(44:24):
felt really good for the obvious reason seeing that beautiful
smile on Rod's face. But we also discovered something really cool.
Giving back could actually be incredibly time efficient if you
(44:44):
planned correctly. It's almost like there's a ratio. Let me
tell you what I mean. The bigger to give the
less the time you have to commit. So theoretically, think
about having someone a big present in a big box.
(45:04):
The bigger the box, the less time you got to
stick around to watch the recipient open it. So theoretically, wait, stop,
you're you're making this way too complicated. Let me break
it down. What Anna is trying to say is that
if you got someone a gift so big that a
(45:25):
crane has to lower it into the gift recipient's backyard. Literally,
as the big gift is hitting the ground, you're long gone.
You were already on a red eye to Iceland to
go backpacking and reconnect with someone you met in college.
You're just going as friends, but I don't know, you're
(45:46):
open to something happening. I mean, that's not why you
booked the trip, but I mean exactly, you wouldn't have
paid dollars just for a chance to kind of see
if something romantic arises. But again, you're not closed off
to the possibility of I don't know, seeing a beautiful
guyser and believing in love again. So if the kids comes,
(46:07):
you're not gonna turn your head away. You're gonna actually
put your face right there and take it in and
you know, I don't know. Maybe when you get back
you'll see each other again. I just it's just one
of those things you've got to be open, and if
you're not open, sometimes you're never gonna find love. If
