Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hey, guys, welcome back to Just Jackie. I am your host,
Jackie Golschneider, and today's topic is very timely because it's fall. Finally.
I don't know about you, guys. I hope everyone had
a great summer. I did not have a great summer,
so I've been looking forward to the fall. The summer
(00:23):
was tough, just had, you know, like a crappy show experience,
of course, and then social media beat me up, so
that was not fun. And then my son broke his
shoulder and it was just like one thing after another,
and I was just looking forward to fall. And now
that it's here, you know, I'm like, I'm not a
(00:45):
huge pumpkin spice girl, but I am a fall like.
I just love the colors, I love the heavier clothing.
I just love all of it. But anyway, that being said,
I took my daughter to go back to school shopping, right,
and if we go to this store that like all
the teeny boppers love, and she's she's gonna be fourteen,
and uh, you know, while she's looking, I'm looking right
(01:09):
and like I went, you know, I'm looking at all
this stuff and like it all looked so cute and
I'm like getting stuff from me to try on too,
And then I had this moment where I was like,
I don't know if I'm too old for this. You know,
you always see those memes and it's like the only
thing you should stop wearing in your forties is the
way of other people's expectations. But like, if we're being honest,
(01:31):
I feel like maybe there are some other things you
should stop wearing in your forties. I don't know. Like
I was grabbing these like cropped little band tees and
like cut off shorts and like little matching like terry
outfits and like I don't know, like cute little socks,
and I was like, you know, where is that line
(01:52):
between like where whatever you want and like you look
like you're trying too hard, you know. And So I
really wanted to talk to an expert today and I
found the perfect person. Let me tell you how I
found her, and then I'll tell you why she's the
perfect person. So my husband evan amazing guy, and he's
(02:15):
as handsome as can be. He wears basics, he wears
really really basic clothing and he's comfortable in that. So
he gets like when he goes in the office and everything.
His suits are like tailored because he has he has
like a different build, like he's really really muscular on top,
and his waist is small and like, I'm not complaining
about it, but he doesn't like clothes that don't fit
(02:38):
him well, and a lot of things off the rack
don't fit him well. So he wears a lot of
like nice looking at leisure when we go out, and
he tends to wear the same thing over and over
and over again. Right. So he turned fifty in August,
and the reason a lot of you don't know is
because I signed off of Instagram during that time, so
(02:58):
I really wasn't posting anything in August. But for his
fiftieth birthday, I told him I wanted to get him
a little shopping spree. So he was at first, he
was like, no, no, no, I don't like shopping. I
don't like the way things fit me. I'm good. And
I was like, no, no, no, I'll find somebody they'll
(03:18):
help you. So I did this once for myself a
really long time ago. I called the stylist. What they
do is they put the things in the dressing room
for you, and then you go in and you try
on what they have for you. So I got him
a shopping spree with a stylist. He didn't think that
he would enjoy it, but we got there, and everything
(03:42):
that she picked for him based on what I told
her that she likes, that he likes what I told
her that he wanted to go a little more fashion forward.
She brought things that were maybe just outside his comfort zone,
and then as he was trying on, she was replacing
things with things that she thought that you know, she
(04:02):
was curating it in a way that like she really
quickly picked up on what would look good on him,
and she was so good. She knew everything about what
would suit his body and his lifestyle, and like what
colors would compliment each other, and what shacket, like a
shirt jacket would like go with all the things that
(04:24):
he was wearing, and like everything was like something that
he would be comfortable wearing, but in like texture that
was new or a color that was new. And this
woman understood fashion in a way that I have never
seen anyone understand fashion. So he loved it. He ended
up getting fantastic stuff, and it made me think about
(04:47):
how hard it is to take chances of fashion when
you really don't know what you're doing, and like, I
love clothing, but I have I would have no idea
how to do this stuff. So personally, I think that
few things make you feel better than a fabulous outfit.
And when you love what you're wearing, you feel good
and you feel confident and you feel sexy. But outside
of one off event, it's really hard to break from
(05:08):
your routine outfits. So you know, the point is every
woman knows what it's like to tear your entire closet
part and have everything on the floor of your closet
before you're going out, because suddenly you hate everything that
you have. So I want to talk to this stylist
today for so many reasons, but like I want to
(05:29):
talk to her about middle aged women late forties, early fifties,
Like is there something we should stop wearing? What's in
for fall? What should we do with all these clothes
in our closet that we think we hate but at
one point we love them enough to buy them? Right?
A million questions for her, So I want to tell
you about her first. Her name is Lindsay Burnet. She
is a leading fashion expert and visionary in the styling industry.
(05:53):
She has twenty three years of experience and has outfitted
thousands of women, including busy moms, high profile executives, and celebrities.
She is the author of You Can't Leave the House Naked.
Uncover your Power by living and dressing on Purpose. She
lives in New York City. She came so highly recommended
(06:14):
from so many people, and I have seen her magic firsthand.
She is the most perfect person to talk to. She's
also a mom in her forties, so she understands like
this age group and like what we're thinking and our
bodies changing and our lifestyles changing. So I am so
excited to talk to her. You guys are gonna love her.
(06:37):
So let's get into it. Let's welcome Lindsay. Hie, Hie, Lindsay.
I'm so excited to have you here. I knew when
I saw you in action. I was watching you and
I'm like, I love when someone is so good at
their job. But like you understood fashion in a way
I have never seen. I've never expected Evan to actually
enjoy the process.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Oh, Jacky is so sweet. It was a such a
compliment coming from you.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
And I didn't know that you wrote a book until
afterwards when I came home, and I looked just to
see like what your experience was, and I was like,
this is the perfect person to talk to because it's
exactly what I'm talking about today, which is like we're
middle aged moms. You know. I was telling a story
before you came on that I took my daughter shopping
for back to school stuff and she's fourteen, and I
(07:26):
was looking through the racks and I'm grabbing all this
stuff for myself, and I had this moment where I
was like, am I too old to be wearing this stuff?
Like they were like little crop shorts and like little
TD bopper shit, and like it looks so cute, right,
And I'm like, but maybe, like, maybe it's not cute
when you're almost fifty.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
I think as we're comparing it to what our moms
were like when they were in their fifties, and we're
just an entirely different generation of women and mothers. And
I think that if we follow rules that tell us
how to dress and how to be, then we're not
actually following like our soul and our desire and if
those are the clothes that make you feel good, like,
(08:05):
I think that there is a line when it's like
you know your butt is showing, like I think maybe
that could be the line. But I think that even
if your butt showing and it looks great and you're happy, like,
why not. So I actually don't believe that. I think
that confidence in age is a mindset that you have
to believe that you can do what feels good for you.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
So there's nothing that you would say is off limits
or just for like younger girls, like no cutouts, or
I understand when you're showing too much, but like there's
no style that you would say, is I am really good?
Speaker 2 (08:38):
I would say I would say the only one would
maybe be okay. It depends on your personality and what
you want to reflect. If you want to be a
power mom, you're not going to wear ruffles and pink.
But if you want to be a really feminine, cute
see mom, then you are going to wear ruffles and pink.
So I think that's the question. And like cutouts, I
(09:01):
think art that's who you are. I don't think that
there are rules. I think that it goes by a
vibe that you are. That's when it feels awkward when
you see someone wearing like a pink roughly thing and
you're like, I don't know, like is that her or
is she trying to be something like does it ooze confidence?
Or is it oozing like look at me?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Right? So assess what you want to present to the world.
Yeah right, Okay, So since you literally wrote the book
on this, let's start with why why is it important
to care about what you wear? Like what can that
do for you in terms of confidence and self esteem?
Speaker 2 (09:41):
So in I just actually posted about this. I have
a private Facebook group, and I know Facebook is kind
of a dying art, but it's a private group and
that's what I really love about it is Instagram can
be very like showy and this is my perfect life.
But I just wrote that our clothing can be part
(10:02):
of our daily armor. So every morning when we wake up,
we decide how we're going to go face the world.
And some days are easier than others, right, especially when
you're over forty, because menopause and pre menopause and all
of it is no joke, and some days feel really difficult.
And when our clothing can represent a part of us
that we love about ourselves instead of being like when
(10:23):
you open the closet and it says like you don't
look good, in this that doesn't fit you anymore? Why
do you even still have this? That's how we're speaking
to ourselves when we start our day, like how is
that good for us? And then we go out in
the world, we say, we don't even like my outfit,
So I'm going to avoid that person, or I'm going
to avoid the talk with my boss, or I'm just
(10:44):
going to like do whatever, because it doesn't matter. I
don't look good anyway. So it's really the foundation of
our day is how we show up. And that's what
your closet should be a reflection of, is how you
want to face the world and what gives you the
most confidence.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
To do that.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
And if that's a cutout dress, then then you should
do that. But if that's a you know, a cream
turtleneck and a beautiful pair of jeans, that's better than
a pair of leggings every single day because you think
no one cares or is looking at you.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
I love that because I have some issues with my closet,
which I know that you do. So I was saying that,
like every woman knows the feeling of trying to get
dressed to go out and the outfit you envisioned didn't
work for whatever reason, and suddenly your entire closet's on
your floor and you hate everything that you own. So
(11:35):
how would you work with somebody's closet to make you, like,
fall back in love with something that you loved enough
ones to buy it? Right? How can you, like, how
can you just approach your closet in a way like
to put together outfits that you might not think of?
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Well? I think we have this like this idea that
clothes should last forever, but nothing in our lives last forever. Right,
So even if you buy something that you once loved,
it might not reflect who you are now. So it
just because you bought it and you loved it, maybe
you even never got the chance to wear it because
you were saving it for the perfect day. It doesn't
(12:12):
mean that the perfect day is going to come anymore
because you're not her, right, You're not that person anymore.
So I think having a third person, like having a
second person come in a third eye and envision something
for you that you don't necessarily see for yourself, is
the key to sparking the interest in your closet again.
(12:37):
Because we only see things the same, and that's just
our perceptions, that's our habits, and it's really hard to
break those habits until someone can say, well, what about
putting this top with that? And then then it becomes
like a muscle, and the more you work it, the
easier it gets. I would say the hardest thing is
that most of us don't put the time and effort
(12:58):
into it because we think that our clothes don't matter.
If we care about our clothes, it means we're superficial.
And this is the last thing on my mind because
I have a million other lists of things to do,
so it doesn't even matter. I just want to be
comfortable instead of if we changed our mindset to like
I want to be comfortable, but when I run into
that ex friend of mine, I want her to be like, damn,
(13:20):
doesn't matter what size you are. It's an energy and
your clothing can be a part of that. So it's
really changing your mindset, and then the clothes will change
with you because you'll start to see things as like
I'm not going to wear that anymore. I'm going to
give it away to somebody who will. And the things
you bring into your closet will then reflect a greater
(13:40):
part of who you are now too, so you don't.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
I'm always afraid. I'm always afraid I'm going to get
rid of something that I'm going to later decide that
I should have kept, you know, Like I have that
mentality of like it's really hard for me to let
go of stuff. And also like there's things from like
I wish I kept my Spot Doogger outfits from when
I I was thirteen years old, Like I wish that
my parents kept some of their vintage stuff from when
(14:03):
I was a kid. You know. So I'm afraid to
get rid of anything. So my closet's a big old mess.
Plus I did tell you that I recovered from an
eating disorder, so I am a drastically different size from
what I was, and I have all these clothes that
don't fit anymore, and I do get nervous to get
rid of them. So you do that, right, like you
go into people's closets and help them.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
I do. But so I have two suggestions for that,
because I completely understand all of those things. And I'm
a big memory shopper person, and I especially being in fashion,
I have great pieces that are from you know, even
Zara let alone dol Changabana from fifteen years ago that
are still really great. But the rule is that everything
(14:44):
in your immediate closet should be something that you can
put on and wear right away. So if you have
pieces that you love that you're holding onto because they
are memories, concert t shirts, what I wore the Tailor
Swift concert with my daughter, I never want to get
rid of that. You should create a memory box for
all of those clothes. I have like five memory boxes
and I put them in my basement and it's labeled
(15:06):
memory box. And I can't wait in twenty years to
go through them. But they should not be taking mental
and physical space up in my closet. If you can't
wear it, it can't be in your closet. Same with
closet don't fit you. So if you've gained so much weight,
which is a lot of the opposite, I think we both.
I think everybody has. It's like one or the other. Right,
(15:28):
if you've gained a lot of weight and close in
your closet don't fit, those need to come out, and
those need to go in a not today but tomorrow pile.
And the same with clothes that don't fit you not today, right,
maybe never, but not today, and you put them in
a box and you put them away, and if in
two years or one year those clothes haven't been touched,
(15:50):
you can easily take that box and give it on
to the next person.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
That's amazing. I'm doing that, you know, I always I
say it. I'm like now, I'm like the first snow
day that we have. But forget it. I'm doing it
this weekend because my closet is a disaster.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
It's gonna feel so good. One of the chapters of
the book says, just to do five minutes of something.
Just if it's your broad drawer and you've been going
through that broad drawer every morning and you know none
of those bras fit one morning, instead of just putting
them back in, just take them out and put them aside.
When you get home, put them in a bag and
give them to somebody who you know could use them
(16:28):
whatever you know, hygiene wise, But just don't put them
back in. Just take it out. Same with the shirt
you put on. You know you don't like it, put
it to the side, don't put it back in your closet.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
That's amazing. What about like nice stuff, like what if
there is something high, like a luxury thing like I
have bags that I haven't touched in fifteen years. I
never even know what to do with This is a
little off topic, but like what do you tell people
to do with that stuff?
Speaker 2 (16:51):
So it depends on so bags again, I'm a huge
bag collector. I also have bags from you know, twenty
four years ago that I'm never getting rid of, but
I'm never wearing because I don't need the hundred dollars
that I would make off of selling that bag. Right. Unfortunately,
the luxury market, even if you say you're buying to invest,
you're not. You're buying to invest in yourself, and if
(17:12):
it happens to go up in price or be worth something,
that's great. So listen, I think that for me again,
I put them in a bin and I plan to
look at them in twenty years because I don't need
the money necessarily because I've already invested in it, but
I want them in my life to look at. If
you have children, you want to pass them down. So
(17:34):
I don't think we should be so quick to give
everything away unless you know what you're giving away is
going to make someone's day. That's how I give things
away or plan to sell them, Like can I like
give someone new life.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
Yeah, I love that. Let's talk about fall fashion because
I remember when I was younger, I was in my twenties,
I used to buy all the glossy magazines. I haven't
bought one in forever, so and it almost feels like
(18:07):
that lifestyle is a little bit too out there, like
even with being on TV and stuff, like I buy
a fancy dress if I'm going to a gala, but
other than that, like I'm not luxury shopping. I'm really not, So.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
What is luxury shopping to you?
Speaker 1 (18:22):
So, like I can't, Like I have money, I don't
generally like go to sacks and just spend like thousands
of dollars like I can't. My kids are so expensive
and now they they love shopping. They're teenagers now and
they love shopping. So like all all of my money
the shit, you know, and I find myself like not
(18:46):
wanting to like I'm I've been buying like not expensive
stuff lately or not shopping at all, not because I
can't afford it, It's just it just seems like I'm
spending so much money all the time.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Listen, if you have a budget each season or each year,
I think that you pick and choose what high low
pieces you want to have. Fashion is so honestly, I've
been doing a lot of TV and everything needs to
be under one hundred dollars for a complete look. I
have found some incredible things at H and M and
Zar like looks that are as on point as some
(19:22):
of the highest designer brands. But I think that not
everybody wants to wear in expensive clothes and not everybody
has to always wear expensive clothes. So I think it's
finding a balance of I want to invest in a handbag,
I want to invest in a pair of shoes, but
the rest of my clothes can be from, you know,
a ritzia. It's kind of picking and choosing. If you
(19:44):
are a luxury you ooze luxury, right, you like nice things,
But that doesn't mean everything you buy has to be expensive.
It can be just pick a few things that add
a pop to your outfit. Is it a saline belt,
A do your belt, A do your necklace? Is is
it a ring? Something like that that can make your
whole look just seem elevated?
Speaker 1 (20:06):
And yeah, it's I love that. So let's talk about
fall fashion. What is in? What is out? You know?
My friend sent me a picture of these boots the
other day and she's like, do you like these? And
I said, yeah, but I think you can only wear
them over skinny jeans. And I don't know if skinny
jeans are in or out right now, Like, I have
no idea what's going on, So what's in, what's out?
(20:26):
What should we be buying right now?
Speaker 2 (20:28):
I think it's like I listen, I want people to
be super on trend and not out of touch, but
I also think, you know, you don't have to totally
pay attention to everything we hear. I don't think skinny
jeans are in. I don't think we should be wearing
skinny jeans. I personally don't think they're as flattering as
we've been told they are. I think if you're still
wearing them, it's because you haven't found the great wide
(20:50):
leg pant for you, which I could help you do
for sure. So fall trends, Leopard is really in, but
in a very monochromatic way, which means you were leopard
with all white, you were a leopard with this like
a burgundy.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
We're not doing leopard on Leopard on leopard, but we're
doing pops of it.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
Wow. I love that because I have it. Well, I'm
a Jersey girl, so of course.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
I'm a Vegas girl. So other trends are cream, cream,
cream cream. If you are not wearing head totoe cream
or a cream sweater or cream jacket, then you know
you're not on trend. Not that it matters, but if
you want to be, you can find them on Amazon.
You can great sweaters on Amazon.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
Actually you just mix and match the shades of the
cream and that's okay.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
It's your You can have a light cream, a light cream,
a light tan and mix that all together.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
And what kind of shoes.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
I'm a big sneaker girl, mostly because I wear I
work and I like twenty thousand steps a day. But
a tan booty, a combat boot in tan, you can
absolutely do a Nike Mary Jane flats are really right now,
which you're comfortable for moms on the go. Another trend
is burgundy. All those like really beautiful deep colors, burgundy, hunter, green, chocolate, brown,
(22:12):
everything that like we never thought we'd wear or could wear.
I promise you, no matter what your skin tone, there
is a cream, a brown, and a berry for you. You
just have to try a few. And I think you'll
be surprised what it does to your just like lightening
your face right about?
Speaker 1 (22:29):
What about accessories, Like, what's one thing that you would
tell someone to add to their outfit to make it
really like stand out or look valivated about about?
Speaker 2 (22:39):
So even for women over forty who are afraid to
show their waistline, if you're hiding your waistline, you're actually
making yourself look more boxy. I know it doesn't feel
that way, but it can't be like this. It has
to be like this, no matter if you're if you're this,
it still has to be like this, not like this.
(22:59):
So we all always want to put a belt on,
whether we're wearing a dress, a pair of jeans, a jacket,
the belt is going to bring the attention to the
right place. And then also gold hoop earrings I think
are pretty Yeah, I would say that's like a pretty
great go to way to frame your face for fall.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Yeah, I haven't pulled out my gold earrings in a
really long time. You know. I wish would come I
wish chokers would come back in style. I really used
the aar in style.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
They are absolutely if you were wearing a choker with
like a great off the shoulder. Off the shoulder sweaters
are really in right now, tucked into like a cool
wide leg jean and a belt, you would be so
chic at dinner no matter where you.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
Are, really off both shoulders or just like a one
off one shoulders.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
Yeah, so I love it when an H and M
this morning?
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yeah really Okay, So next question was going to be like,
what inexpensive fashions like more fast fashions would you tell
people the shop at and what are your suggestions for
shopping online?
Speaker 2 (24:03):
So fast fashion doesn't have to be fast fashion, Like
I have pieces from H and M that have lasted me,
you know, like I said, fifteen plus years. So I
think it's about buying things with a longevity in mind, right,
Like don't just buy to buy. Buy because you know
(24:24):
you're going to wear it. So and it's also about
like a capsule collection, So don't buy five sweaters, buy
one or two, see how you do throughout the season.
Don't just buy a bunch of things. Intentional shopping is
the way to eliminate waste. It's better for the environment
and it's better for your heart. Like, no one wants
(24:45):
to feel like they've spent a bunch of money and
aren't wearing their clothes. So but with that said, like
you can walk into H and M, I've had such
great luck there a Ritzia Forever twenty one has great stuff,
Zara of Core, this happens to be from Zara and
you Target, I mean all of these pieces and there's
(25:06):
so many influencers who are talking about these trends and
what to buy based on fabrics. It's very easy to
go on Instagram and be inspired.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Oh I love that. And what about online shopping because
sometimes I have so many issues, like it comes it
never looks as good on the model. And one question
I did want to ask you, Yeah, are they always
accurate when they say what size the model is wearing?
Because I always find that these models, like I look
on Revolve and they look tiny to me, like Bony,
(25:37):
they're not. Their waist is a twenty three and they're
wearing a size four, So it's more like you.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
For it to be accurate, you'd have to know your
size because you'd also have to look at their measurements.
So most models are over five nine, which Autumn makes
automatically makes them a bigger size, like when you're taller.
It just you're you know, you might look like you're two,
but you might be a four in real world, And
if you're shorter, you might look like you're for what
(26:04):
you're really a zero. It's really you really have to
know your size in most clothes to be able to
tell online shopping what size it would be right for
you based on the models, which is so confusing, which
is why we buy so much and none of it works.
So I would say, you know, obviously you want to
stick to some of the brands that you know, but
you don't want to stay in the safe place of
(26:26):
buying the same things. For fabrics, always check the fabrics.
Like when I buy these dresses on this brand called
Red Dress, if they are ninety percent polyester, they're going
to come and they're going to be so bad. But
if they're cotton, I know they're going to come and
they're going to look really good for summer. So it's
also just paying attention to fabrics.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
On the description, tell me about your book, who is
it for or somebody who doesn't know how to get
dressed in the morning?
Speaker 2 (27:03):
So I think I think, thank you, So I think
this book is for everybody that can't leave the house. Naked,
which is why it's the name of the book. You
can't leave the house naked. It's for everyone who has
to get dressed in the morning. If I'm being honest,
I would say it's more geared to the woman that's
over forty. A lot of the stories represent what we're
(27:24):
going through at this age and beyond. But it's also
a book for finding your voice and figuring out who
you are in this part of your life. So it's
definitely not filled with just fashion tips. There's actually very few.
I would say it's a more self love book that
helps you identify things that might be missing and how
(27:44):
clothing could be a part of what's next for you
in an unexpected way.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
I need it. I'm ordering it today.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Well, actually, it just knows that the ebook is coming
out September twenty fifth.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Oh that's so exciting. Where can people bite it on
Amazon amaz On? Yes? Oh, congratulations, that's amazing. Okay, So,
if we were going to tell all the middle aged
women listening to the podcast right now.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
See a better name for us than that, I know
we have to come up.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
No, let's let's let's think of something. Well, Okay, I
don't know what I would call myself right now, but
because I honestly I feel young. I really feel young,
and like as I could tell by the way I
was shopping at Mixology with my daughter, grabbing all of
these like tiny little clothes, like I love that.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
I hope you got those clothes. By the way I do.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
I got one thing and then another thing, Like the
slogan T shirts. I'm like, I will just look stupid.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
No shirts are aren't for us. I would say, let's
let the young ones wear that. We want to be sexy,
but also like we want to feel confident, and I
don't think that a slogan T shirt is going to
do that for us. Maybe somebody, but yeah, anyway, what
(29:02):
was yourself.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
If we were my last question, if you were going
to tell all the middle aged moms listening three pieces
of clothing to invest in for the fall. Would a
blazer that you can wear oversize or like a tailored I.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
Would say to your waist, I mean, I think it
depends on your body type, but yeah, I would say
a blazer like just a classic blazer, sort of oversized,
nothing fitted, nothing cropped.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
Okay, would that act as your jacket.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
For the fall that's going to be you can wear
that every day, means over dresses, over your workout gear,
to the grocery store. Absolutely, and I would have it
be like a fun fabric or color, whether that's like
a very lightweight tweet, a burgundy, a hunter green. Camel
is ideal if you are like, don't know what to choose,
just get something camel. And then the second piece would
(29:59):
be a handbag that helps you, like enter a room
feeling really confident. Our handbag can help us finish our outfit,
and it's a It's just a great way to express
who we are without having to worry about size. Right,
if you feel a little heavy that day, if you're
not feeling yourself, if your clothes don't fit right, your
(30:20):
handbag always fits. And then lastly, I love a great
pair of shoes. I love them. I love sneakers, I
love low heels, I love Ramez, I love Dulja Vita,
I love it all. And an out A shoe can
absolutely complete your outfit, no questions asked.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Perfect you with a perfect guest. I adore you. Evan
loves his clothing, and please tell people where they can
find you.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
Thank you, Jackie. I am just so grateful to be
connected to you too. You're so beautiful and I can
inside it out and I can't wait to see what
we do together. You can follow me on Instagram at
Lindsay Burnet Styles. I would love to get to know
you all and see what you're wearing, and I really
do dare you to dress for the life you dream.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Thank you so much and I will stay in touch
you Bye Lindsay bye bye. All right you guys, So okay,
what I'm taking from this conversation. First of all, the
memory box thing I love so much because I have
so much clothing or so many pieces of clothing that
(31:33):
I don't want to get rid of because they're significant
to me. Like I am a very sentimental person. I
see memories and everything, Like I remember a shirt that
I wore on my children's first birthday that I don't
want to get rid of, but I don't know what
to do with, so it just hangs there forever. Right.
But I walk into my closet and I know that
I'm never touching it and it's taking up space. Like
(31:55):
my closet is so jammed, like it's like playing janga
trying to get the hangers in. So I am definitely
going to take her advice in pulling out those things
that I am never wearing again and putting them in
a box, or pulling them out and then giving them away,
like things that are not sentimental, giving them away to
(32:16):
somebody who can like enjoy them, you know, maybe not
just you know, I do give a lot to charity,
but that's more like really old clothes. But if someone
else could really enjoy them and I'm not using them,
that seems like such a great idea. And I love
the idea of a blazer. I really don't invest in blazers.
(32:38):
Camel blazer. I feel like that would just dress up
any outfit. And the creams I love that. A cream
turtleneck with cream trousers. I am ready for my pumpkin
spice latte. Okay, guys, that's all for today. I hope
you enjoyed. I hope you're ready to get dressed fabulously
(32:59):
in advance of our next episode. I hope you loved it.
I hope you loved Lindsay. And I will see you
guys again soon. Enjoy m m mmm
