Speaker 1 (00:05):
College Football Week three reaction, and I'm gonna tell you
who the real college football playoff contenders are from the
results this weekend. We gotta talk the SEC and the
Big ten flexen, what the hell is up with the
Big twelve? Do they only have one team possible? The ACC?
(00:25):
What's going on out there? We had great games with Texas,
say and them Notre Dame. We found more out about Oregon.
We found out about a lot of other teams as well.
And also we got not one, but we got two
head coaches fired one over at Virginia Tech and Brent
pyr Pry and then you had Deshaun Foster over there
at UCLA. And you know, I know the man. So
(00:48):
I gotta be real about the situation because as college
football's honesty broker, I can't sugarcoat and not tell the truth.
You guys. I'm George Right, the former NFL player, college
football player, college football analysts for the c W. I
hope you got a chance to check me out on
the South Florida Miami game where we had an hour
(01:12):
and thirty seven minute of the lightning delay, So you
got a lot more of your boy Mike Yam and
Michael bumpus. All right, so let's get into this weekend,
because first of all, can I tell you that I
thought that the last season of college football was great,
but this college football season honestly is the greatest thing
(01:33):
that I've ever seen. And I'm not sure if you
could disagree with that, because we are watching a situation
where if you had to bet your life that who
the best team in college football is, who you would
bet your life is going to win the national championship.
(01:56):
My question to you is who would you bet on?
If I polled a thousand people, I would get thirty
different answers. That's the truth. That's how many people realistically
believe that their team has a chance to win a
national championship this year. So let's talk about what we
know so far in this college football season. We know
(02:21):
that the SEC, who I have been critical of for
their non conference scheduling in terms of yes, they'll play
the one off games but only playing eight conference games
this year. Again, they are dominating in the non conference. Now, granted,
they've had very few games against the Big Ten. The
Oklahoma the Oklahoma Michigan game was a big game, but
(02:45):
then Ohio State beat Texas, so that was like a
trade off right there of the powers that be in
those conferences. But in general, when it comes to what
the SEC is doing to the ACC and the Big twelve,
it ain't really real nice right now. And their teams
actually look really good. But the issue with the SEC
right now, we're gonna get this talk, and I'm telling
(03:07):
you this is why we're show prep for a lot
of other shows. And you guys make sure that you
like subscribe, get notifications, and hop into the comments because
I will address you guys as well. So the thing
that you guys are gonna start hearing real real soon. Oh,
the SEC is a goblet. It's gonna cannibalize itself and
(03:28):
everything else. Well isn't that the same thing that the
Pac twelve was doing a couple of years ago? Yes,
But the difference is the SEC is, you know, the
darling of college football. And right now we are in
a situation where who's the best team in the SEC?
Because the teams that performed quote unquote best this weekend?
(03:49):
Where the hell is the defense? Where is the defense
for Ole Miss who is undefeated right now? Where's the
defense for Georgia? Where's the defense for tennis? Where's the
defense for Arkansas? Where's the defense for Alabama? Oh, don't
give me Wisconsin. They playing with a backup quarterback and
(04:09):
not even close to the same athletes. Where was that
defense versus Florida State? Because opposing quarterbacks matter and the
four years? Oh my god, yes, so you see this defense?
Where's the defense? I tried to tell y'all for a
very very long time that it is the opposing quarterbacks
(04:29):
that make defenses not look good. Because these SEC scores
are starting to look like big twelve scores right now.
This is the reality of the situation. And I do
not when I look at the SEC right now, I
see a grand total of zero elite teams like somebody.
(04:50):
Where we had Georgia a few years ago when Alabama
was winning national championships that looked like they can't be
beat by pretty much anybody. We don't have that right now.
And honestly, this is the best thing for college football.
And there's something else that we're going to talk about
that came up, which is this idea of revenue sharing.
(05:15):
And well, of course they revenue sharing with the media
payoffs and all of this, but unequal, I'm telling you, guys,
fight back on this, and we'll dig deeper into this later.
Fight back on this when it comes to your school,
your team, your board, wherever you sit. That will be
the death of college football. What the ACC is doing
(05:38):
with just because you have better TV ratings that you
get paid more money and widening the gap between the
haves and the have nots. All full idea for college
football and the leadership that is that is proposing this
is only from the one percenters of college football. It
is just like real life people. They will try to
sqush the middle class, squash the poor, and they want
(06:01):
to stay on top. And I'm speaking from that in
terms of a guy who went to a university the
Oregon Ducks, who are part of the halves of college
football right now. But my love for college football goes deeper,
and my love for the sport it has to transcend
everything because this is what we love to see. So
(06:25):
so we cannot have that that will absolutely kill college
football and kill everything that we love about the game
because there will only be a couple teams that will
be able to survive and have a chance to win,
and there will then be fatigue of fans if Rutgers
(06:46):
can't ever win. If Mississippi State can't ever win the SEC,
if none of those things can happen, their fans are
going to grow tired. But George's always been like that. Yes,
but we live in a different age. The culture is different.
People's attentions, fans different, their fairness expectations are different. All
of those things are different than what they used to be.
All right, now, back to what we saw from this week. Now.
(07:12):
I looked at the conferences and I was like, who
are the legit contenders and who are the legit pretenders
in college football? Because there are teams that people believe
are legit title contenders. And I'm going to break them
down into two categories. There are legit title contenders and
(07:33):
then there are playoff College Football playoffs contenders. All right,
let's start with the SEC. Right now. I believe that
there are three teams in the SEC that have a
chance to win a national championship. Number one is the
(07:54):
Georgia Bulldogs. Now because is their defense where it needs
to be right now? Nope, Nope, it is not to
win a national championship. Is Alabama's team where it needs
to be? Nope, it's Texas A and M's who's my
third team where it needs to be. Nope, But you
don't have to play your best football now. You have
to play your best football in December and then in January.
(08:19):
So these are the teams that can grow into that.
But the teams I believe that can make the College
Football Playoff as well as a potential even though I
think the SEC is only going to get four teams.
In got Oklahoma and you got LSU. Now Oklahoma might
slide into that national championship contender situation and Texas A
(08:42):
and M may slide into that pretender. Just make the
College Football Playoff. But Texas and M will be happy
with that. They get Marcel Reed back again, team will
be good, all of those things. They'll be happy with that.
But Oklahoma this could be their window because John Mattier,
this is it for him. He out of here after
this year. All Right, An LSU. For all of the
(09:02):
talk about LSU and about Brian Kelly, this team is
not elite right now. They are terrible on fourth down.
I'm from third down and this is the reason why
Brian Kelly went off in the press conference. And we'll
talk about that in a little bit. Now over into
big ten the real playoff national championship contenders right now.
(09:27):
We got Ohio State and we got the Oregon Ducks.
Now the teams I believe could possibly make the College
football Playoff, you got Penn State, you got Illinois, you
got Michigan, and you got usc. USC is a long shot,
but those are the teams I believe that could make
(09:47):
the College football Playoff. But the only teams I believe
that can win it from what we have seen so
far are Oregon and Ohio State. Because Penn State, I
will not be a believer until I say more out
of Drew Oler, and I've said this from the beginning.
They are not national championship contenders until Drew Aler can
throw the ball at a high level and put the
(10:10):
couple games on his back over in the Big twelve,
I believe that there are a grand total of zero
teams who can win a national championship. However, however, there
are two teams that could get into the College Football
Playoff and win a game. There are two. That is
(10:30):
Utah and Texas Tech. That's it now. Iowa Stateton BYU
could also make the playoff, but win it. No chance,
not a snowballs chance. In hell that that can happen
now over in the ACC Miami. Miami could be an
(10:51):
elite football team, could be an elite football team. They
are my number one team in the nation right now.
They have looked good every week, every week in pretty
much every area. Now. Carson Beck turned the ball over
a couple times this week against USF. But you know,
still one handling Clemson, who I picked to win a
(11:14):
national championship, And forgive me, there is a zero percent
chance they were winning the national championship. But there is
a chance that they could get into the College Football Playoff.
There is a chance, and then you have and then
Florida State could get into the playoff, but they're not
good enough to win a college football national championship. Not
(11:37):
and then in the group of five. And I know
I just covered this team with the USF Miami game,
but I studied so much tape on USF this week
in terms of them getting into the college football Playoff. Yes,
they are going to be highly thought of right now.
But people talk about the ranks win the Boise State win.
I'm not a person who gives you week one credit
(11:59):
for wins Boise States night. And they're they shouldn't have
been righted. They're they're okay this year, but USF, the
team that I picked is still alive UNLV and then
you gotta look at Memphis as well. And then the
last thing is I believe and I know that people
are gonna be upset about this, but here is the truth.
(12:23):
If Notre Dame runs the table, they are a threat
to get into the college football playoffs. I know that
they lost to Texas A and M and I know
that they lost to Miami. But if Miami then runs
through the ACC undefeated, and if Texas A and m
mess around, and when's the SEC that is going to
(12:45):
put Notre Dame in there? Because those were two amazing games.
They could have gone either way. So Notre Dame, when
you watch them play, you are I know people are
talking about the eye tests and all that, but win's
and losses. Listen, Notre Dame is still one of the
twelve best teams in college football right now. Are they
going to be number two one of the top twelve
(13:06):
in my rankings this week? No, because you get what
you're earned. But they are They're not gonna fall out
of the top twenty five. I'm letting you know that
right now, just like they didn't fall out of the
AP Top twenty five, because you cannot watch that team
and look at CJ. Carr and look at the running game,
and look at the defense and look at everything, and
(13:27):
look at how they performed against teams we believe are
good and say I don't know about that football team
when they lost on the last play basically of two
games against two teams that could be elite. Just sare you? Guys?
Make sure that you like, subscribe, get notifications, and tell
(13:47):
a friend about the show, and most importantly share George
Rice College Football Playoffs podcast. All right, So the next
thing up, UCLA and Virginia Tech both fired their head coaches.
Ucla fired Deshaun Foster after they got skull drug essentially
(14:09):
got demolished by New Mexico and at their head coach
because remember came over to New Mexico, brought all his players,
and now New Mexico is a tough football team, but
they had already lost to UNLV and they got absolutely
boat raced, I mean, out physical doubt manned by Utah.
(14:29):
And then you had Brent Prye over there at Virginia
Tech sixteen and twenty four at Virginia Tech in his
fourth season, had a winning one winning season seventy six
and then six and seven last year. Then they got
absolutely demolished by Old Dominion. And Old Dominion's coaching staff
(14:50):
is good. That were recruiting my son at the time
and when he was coming out, So I got no
problem with Old Dominion. It's just Virginia Tech should not
be getting beat down, even if you lose a game
like that because weird roster injury something like that. You
can't get demolished. You're UCLA. You can't get demolished by
(15:11):
New Mexico. And I'm got I gotta show you guys
something because my kid, because my wife went to UCLA.
We have UCLA season tickets. She's a huge UCLA fan.
My six year old, he wanted to make mom feel better.
He wrote this note UCLA fight fight fight. You know
what I like U CELA fight fight fight, He said,
(15:32):
UCLA always wins. Well, he lied, but he was trying
to make people feel feel better for that. Now, I've
known Deshaun for a while and if you watch UH
and if you've watched the podcast re any while, you
know the last two seasons I've gone out to UCLA
to go, you know, interview, and so I'm not going
(15:54):
to sugarcoat this because he said the same thing in
his press release, because here is the truth is that
he is a UCLA Hall of Famer and he wanted
this to work. But the reality is is the product
on the field was not good. The product on the
(16:17):
field did not match the expectations. Now, yes, UCLA is
limited in il resources and all of this stuff, and
jarmand their athletic director is going to have to absolutely
rally the troops in a lot of ways to be
able to turn this into a successful program. But we'll
(16:39):
get into this more about coaching hot seats and who
should replace them all. But here is a note, a
point that I saw out on the internet and I
felt compelled to address it. One thing of note is
that the transfer when you are going to fire your
head coach, the transfer portal opens in immediately, so UCLA
(17:02):
and Virginia Tech players can immediately hop into transfer a
portal for the next thirty days. Now, this would make
zero sense for these kids to hop into transfer portal,
zero sense because it there's no advantage. They can't transfer
somewhere else and play right now. So why would you
hop into transfer a portal, especially when you have an
(17:22):
opportunity to put more good tape out even though your
team's back, Because it doesn't matter where your team is back.
You can put out good tape and give yourself an
opportunity to either be wanted by the next coach that
comes to UCLA or be wanted by other programs. So, yes,
(17:43):
you're you're gonna have to watch out for Nico potentially
transferring again, and a lot of other players, and every
single one of their commits high school commits decommitted today.
I don't see the point net because you might put
yourself in a jam, but you also may not be
wanted by the next day as well. We are going
to talk also about DJ Lagway and arch Manning in
(18:06):
a little bit when we get to those games, And
did want to point out that Notre Dame is the
first team to start owing to and remain ranked in
thirty seven years. But the reality is they ain't playing
no cupcakes. So this is what it is, all right,
So let's get to the games, all right. You guys,
make sure that you like subscribe, get notifications. Let me
(18:27):
check out the chat for a second. Uh yeah, people
believe that this season is going to be interesting. Oh
Alabama over well, Oklahoma over Alabama. I'm not mad at that.
And ooh, some people, oh this gotta be a Duck fan,
Mario Chris Ball will lose two games in the middle
of the season, like Lincoln Riley. Oh well, might not
(18:49):
be a Duck fan now, Lincoln Riley. I believe that
they're going to lose some games over there at USC
but that's reality. And oh, SEC is the new PAC
twelve and they haven't even started playing nine conference games
in the season and won't till next year. You are right,
SEC definitely is going to feel that wrath of that
(19:14):
extra game because it is not a joke. All right,
you guys like subscribe, get notifications, tell a friend, let's
get to these games. So let's start with that Georgia
versus Tennessee game, that overtime thriller. I was so excited
about this game. I was so excited to see what
(19:35):
this man right here, mister Gunnar Stockton, was gonna be
able to do. Now, when I looked at this game,
I was like, man, it was so tough for me
to pick this game because I did not believe the
Tennessee was gonna be able to run the football against Georgia.
But I also wasn't sure about Georgia's run game and
(19:58):
what they were gonna end up getting out of Gunner
stocked th in justin general, because big games are totally different.
So this Joey Aguilar situation, because Joey Aguilar is now
a quarterback over there for the Valls. He threw for
three hundred and seventy one yards for a touchdown and
Chris Brazil, oh, the kid looked great. One hundred and
(20:20):
seventy seven yards and three touchdowns, and they took Georgia
to the brink and the and the ceiling is the
roof with this passing game. But the issue with this game,
the reason why the Valls lost this game, they cannot
run the football at a high level against good competition.
(20:44):
Thirty four carries one hundred and twenty five yards and
a touchdown. There's three point seven yards to carry and
at the end of the game, they couldn't just line
it up and run Georgia over. They couldn't, and that
was good for Georgia. That's why you had at the
(21:05):
end of the game, I thought that Josh Heipel made
a huge mistake at the end of the game and
cost himself a win. You have an inexperienced kicker and
instead of continuing to press the issue to get first
downs until you at least get to like the twenty
(21:28):
yard line or inside of the twenty yard line, was
a mistake. And also with seven seconds left and they
time out, they should have run another play to get
more yardage, a run play, even to get more yardage
after that false start penalty. Absolutely, because when I looked
(21:50):
in that kicker, Max whatever his name is, eyes, I
saw one hundred percent. I was like, oh, oh, oh,
he's gonna miss this kick. Max Gilbert, I was like,
he's a one hundred. I was talking to the people
in the studio. I was like, oh, this kick is done.
It's over because you put your kicker in a situation
(22:11):
that he was not prepared for. Now, it is totally
different when you look at when there is no other choice.
But Tennessee could have been more aggressive to get closer.
This ain't the NFL. The hashmarks are why got a
young kicker with the baby face, the big eyes moment
was too big for him. Now this is the difference
(22:36):
between teams who have experience winning and teams that don't
have experience winning, because what, Kirby's smart, And this is
why you can't bet against Kirby smart the same way
you couldn't bet against Nick Saban because they instill a
level of just stick touitiveness, a level of what just
(23:00):
relentlessness and refuse to quit in their team because they
were down eight late and then Gunner stocked in threw
an absolute dime don to London Humphries on fourth and seven,
and then the two point conversion is Zachariat Branch come
on man. And then peyton woodring their kicker three for
(23:25):
three on field goals because you know what they're kicking,
game travels because he's been there before. It is hard
on young, young kids, and I get it. But this
is why I said it at the beginning of the
season when I did not have Tennessee ranked, that I
do not believe that this team is a college football
(23:48):
playoff team. They're still not in the teams that I
believe can make the college football playoffs because they are
not able to run the football. And yes, y'alls, Hypel's
offense is perfect for college football, but it is not
perfect for developing quarterbacks. Despite all the stats that you see,
(24:09):
this is no different than Timmy chain over at Hawaii. There,
they're empty calorie stats, they're empty calorie yards the wide receiver,
same thing. That's why they're not going into the NFL
and having success. It's not that Hypel is a bad coach.
That it's a gimmick offense. It's a gimmick offense, and
(24:30):
sometimes you do need gimmicks to win, but at the
end of the day, you have to be able to
line it up and run people over when it matters
to most. All right, and Tennessee still has Arkansas, Alabama, Oklahoma,
and Vanderbilt left. Outside of that a bunch of layups.
(24:50):
But yeah, all right, Next game up, Clemson versus Georgia Tech.
Lord have mercy. I have been watching this Clemson team
play all year, the team that I picked to win
a national championship, And I'm not a person that likes
(25:12):
to throw in the towel early. I'm and Dabo Sweeney,
when I got a chance to interview him, he was like,
stay the course, gotta do the right things, all of
this stuff. So I'm not giving up on Clemson yet.
But I am. I'm about that close, about that close,
and it has nothing to do with this Clemson defense.
And I know that they let him drive down at
the end of the game. But Clemson's margin for error
(25:36):
is absolutely gone. This team is a defensive team. Their
offense is And I know that they were missing Antonio Williams,
one of their two stud wide receivers, and I know
that they were missing alignment as well a left tackle.
But without even with them, Clemson was having trouble running
(26:00):
the football. That is a problem. They're having trouble protecting
Kate Klubnick. This is a major issue, major issue. And
Georgia Tech, who we have questioned whether they're gonna be
able to win at they're now three and oher Clemson
(26:23):
is now one in two. Georgia Tech led by their
head coach Bret Keith, who has instilled toughness, he has
instilled belief, he is instilled all of those things. But
he is making a terrible mistake right now. The heart
(26:47):
and soul of this Georgia Tech team is their quarterback
Haines King. And we're gonna get all excited about Georgia Tech.
We're gonna talk about him this week. They play Temple
this week, they're gonna be four and ohero after after
playing Temple next week, they're gonna be ranked. They're gonna
be up into the low teens, mid teens. The reality
(27:08):
is this is that Haines King took the most carries
that he's ever taken in his life twenty five carries.
The rest of the any wide receivers, running backs, anybody
else who touched the football seventeen carries. Haines King missed
(27:29):
last week's game after they played Colorado because he took
a bunch of carries and was banged up in that game.
The kid missed multiple games last season because of injury,
and brit Keat is running him like he is a fullback.
Georgia Tech's season is going to get ruined because Haines
(27:50):
King is not going to be able to stay healthy.
And I'm sorry and I'm sorry, And there is a
difference in when you have to win one game, So
like trying to win this Clemson game, Yes, yes, you
gotta do what you gotta do with your quarterback. But
do you think that they're gonna stop Haines King from
(28:11):
running the football against Temple if he plays because he
was lipping. He looked bad after the game. They'll mean,
towards the end of that game against Wake Forest, against
Virginia Tech, you think they're gonna stop him from running
the football. No, So there's gonna come a point in
time where this backup quarterback is probably gonna have to
make some plays for them or Haines King. And I've
(28:32):
learned this from having two quarterbacks sons. You bang them
up and being around all the quarterbacks. They get banged up,
the little touch goes a little bit away on some
of the pass plays. You'll start missing balls you're not
supposed to miss. You ain't good. But this Clemson team, yes,
they can still get back into the ACC Championship game,
(28:55):
but I am struggling to find a scenario where this
gets fixed. Offensively, this defense is legit. This is one
of the better defenses in all of college football. But
we're supposed to believe that they're gonna be able to
navigate the rest of this schedule without getting tripped up,
(29:18):
without being able to ever put up forty points and
then win the ACC Championship. They escaped Miami this year.
But I don't believe that if you put Clemson in
Miami on the same football field right now. That's a
twenty point game, probably tell you, unless they get some
(29:38):
turnovers from Carson back, which is a possibility. All right.
Next thing that we got to talk about, probably the
game of the day, Notre Dame versus Texas A and
them forty one to forty. Oh and in case you
didn't know, Georgia Tech Clemson was twenty four to anyone.
(30:02):
Now Texas saying, m Notre Dame. Let me check the
chat for a second. Okay, yeah, yeah, y'all, y'all still
in there, going appreciate y'all. Yes, Notre Dame absolutely choked
this game away. They choked it away. Yes, that dropped
(30:23):
extra point mattered, But Texas A and m you have
to give them credit. Even though I will say Notre
Dame choke, Notre Dame is still one of the twelve
best football teams in all America. This is how when
(30:43):
people say you are not what your record says you are,
you are not when it comes to who you have played.
Because there are teams that haven't played pretty much of
anybody right now and have a better record. But that
don't mean that if they go up against them fighting,
if they won't get they head kicked in. But I
(31:04):
gotta give Mike Elko and Texas saying them a lot
of credit because they are resilient brouh. He has gotten
this team to fight and forty one to forty where
the hell is the defense? Where the hell is the defense?
But sometimes there comes a point where at the end
of the day, you just gotta win a damn game.
(31:24):
You gotta just win a game. And that's exactly what
they did. They went out there and they won a game.
So I am proud of both of these teams, and
the legend of Marcel Reed grows. There were so many
people who wondered if Marcel Reid was going to be
able to be an elite passer, a high level passer.
(31:47):
What say you now, seventeen for thirty seven? Now is
the percentage great? Absolutely not, because he was below fifty percent,
three hundred and sixty yards, two touchdowns and a pick
elite passer, no playmaker, one hundred percent, one hundred percent.
And most of all, you saw his teammates around him.
(32:09):
They believe in what he's doing, they believe that he
can save them. So if Marcel Reid, if he can
become a better passer because seventeen completions for three hundred
and sixty yards is wild. Is wild? So for twenty
yards of completion, so that's Notre Dame. You're like, bro,
how are you allowing that? But that's insane? Over twenty
(32:34):
yards of completion? What are we doing? But he deserves credit.
He only ran the ball seven times, so he's not
just trying to just run around with his with his legs,
but he is trying to extend plays to win. And
but for Texas A and M to win potentially make
(32:56):
the college football Playoff, this defense got a stiffen up
it And I know that Notre Dame is good. Defense
got a stiffing up, and Marcel Reed has to be
more efficient. Seventeen for thirty seven ain't gonna cut it.
What forty five percent? Forty percent? Yeah, bro, that is
not gonna cut it when it when it comes to
(33:17):
winning big time football. But on the Notre Dame front,
I gotta give CJ. Carr some credit in the Notre
day in the because the interception he threw wasn't even
a bad interception. He was checking the ball down while
he was getting ready to get get sacked. Sell selled
it a little went over the back's head or the
titian's head and went through his hands. Happens. Not ideal,
(33:43):
But this kid has the moxie. He's a gamer, he
is a He's a threat, bro, He's an absolute threat
in every situation. I like him and and their head
coach Marcus Freeman did the right thing and not going
to go get somebody in the portal. But their weapons.
(34:04):
They spread the ball around, you know, uh, Eli Reardan,
Malachi Fields and Jeremiah Love Bro. This dude is special.
Hit almost one hundred and fifty yards of total offense.
It is fun watching this dude play. I cannot wait
to watch this dude play on Sundays because we're talking
about a special back. We're not even talking about, you know,
(34:28):
like we're talking about kind of that b Jhon Robinson
level of special, like potential first round pick. Now, is
he as elusive as him? No? But the but the power,
but the power and the catching the ball out of
the backfield, getting extra yards. It mattering to them. All
those stuff love it. But I got to give a
shout out to Mario Craver, the wide receiver over there
(34:52):
at Texas and m damn that kids could two hundred
and seven passing two hundred and seven receiving yards shall work.
So good job Texas A and M. All right, now,
the reason why this game mattered so much is because
this was Texas A and M's first road win over
a ranked team since twenty fourteen. So you got to
(35:16):
give Mars mike Elko all type of credit for that.
Because everything that Jimbo fisher was supposed to do there,
Mike Yelko's actually doing. People weren't so thrilled over the
moon about that higher. But this is where programs have
to do. Stop trying to look for the sexy higher
when you need one. Get the right higher. Who's got
(35:39):
the right DNA, understand your culture, understands what you're trying
to build, and has a plan. All right? And update
safety Bryce Anderson who got who left on the cart
before halftime? Team said he has filling in all his limbs,
so there's something to monitor going forward. Next thing up,
(36:02):
who we gotta have an honest conversation about some of
these quarterbacks. We are getting ready to have an honest
conversation about Arch Manning, and we are getting ready to
have a conversation about DJ Lagway man, and there's a
lot of people who do not want to have this conversation.
(36:23):
They are not ready to have the honest conversation about
DJ Lagway and about arch Manning. So here we go,
So buckle up. Arch Manning, who was getting booed by
Texas fans after ten or eleven straight incompletions, finished the
game eleven for twenty five, a touchdown and an interception.
(36:46):
But he did have rushing touchdowns, I believe so for Texas,
they played UTEP twenty seven to ten, ugly win. Defense
carried the day. The issue with that people have a
lot of times in life is when expectations don't match
(37:11):
what you get in actuality expectations. It's like when people
talk about all the time, oh man, when when we
matched on this date app he looked like he did
in the in the pictures. She looked like she did
in the pictures. That's what we're getting out of Arch
(37:33):
Manning and out of DJ Lagway right right now. The
preseason hype, the expectations because of the last name, the
expectations because of the gush and of Sark and everybody else,
was not eleven for twenty five for one fourteen a
touchdown and an interception that was not it and right now,
(37:55):
and you did not expect like if I told you
that through three games this season, three games, that Texas
would be one and two and that Arch Manning that
his game log would be one hundred and seventy yards
fifty six percent completions and then eleven for twenty five
(38:16):
this game with six touchdowns, three interceptions, and then you
had that San Jose State game where it was nineteen
for thirty two ninety five, four touchdowns in a pig.
If I told you that that's how arch would have
started the season, you would have said, hell no, hell no.
So the question is, is they're a point if you
(38:40):
are Texas where you have to go away from arch Manning.
Think about that, Rob And I'm not and I'm not
calling for the kids job. I'm not saying any of that.
I do not believe that there is a shortage of
talent with arch Manning having two quarterback sons, of being
around quarterbacks so much, this is this feels like a
(39:03):
mental issue to me. This feels like a confidence issue.
This feels like arch Manning is dealing with a confidence issue.
Right now he is not able, like the game feels
too big, too fast, to everything for and now he's
in his head. He's having trouble making throws that he
(39:27):
should make. Now. This happens to quarterbacks sometimes when they
get in their head and then they start saying, don't
miss this throat. As soon as you start, oh my god,
this guy's wide open. Don't miss this throat. Let's throw it.
Let's and then all of a sudden, you start missing throws,
you start being late, You're you're not sure about what
(39:50):
you're seeing, you're second guessing everything. The fans are booing you.
You can't go on social media. Your people are talking
trash and class in your on your in everywhere you go.
People are leaving notes on your car, all sorts of
stuff that is tough. That is tough. So I don't
(40:13):
know whether he needs uh A you know, ah, a
sports scientist of a somebody to help with your mental
performance and sports. Because here's the truth. I did that
when I was in playing in the NFL, but not
because I was struggling with a confidence issue. So it
(40:35):
started with Fred Taylor, guy played with in Jacksonville. So
and uh it was a sports sports psychologist, that same
one that Russell Wilson sees Trevor well, Pat Trevor passed.
Pat passed away an number of years ago from a
brain tumor. But you but you know the guy I'm
talking about, He's written books and everything. So he was
down there with us in Jacksonville and Fred started to
(40:58):
go see him and he would show highlight tapes. Fred
Tayler's one of the coldest running backs of all time.
But if he can struggle with confidence because he had
been hurt, he had been injured. You know, fans they
call him fragile Fred, and the newspapers and everything else
that can get to you. And so I was like,
(41:19):
I'm not struggling with confidence, but if Fred Taylor is
great and he's doing this, I should probably do this.
So I would advise Arch to do this. And he's
got to continue getting loved up by his team, loved
up by Sark and everything else. But here is the issue.
This is football. There is no sympathy in football. And
(41:43):
you can be trying to get Arch's confidence up all
you want to, but if it starts to cost football games,
that's gonna be a problem. Because they have Sam Houston
State next. It doesn't matter whether Arch goes twenty five
for twenty for five hundred yards and eight touchdowns, no
(42:04):
picks until he does that against Florida and then Oklahoma
the following weeks. The noise is not going to quiet down.
It is not going to quiet down because he's a
mannic and because he's at Texas, so people have been saying, oh,
bench Arch Manning. The problem with this is number one,
(42:26):
we don't know what is behind Arch, what we've been
seeing at what Sark has been seeing at practice. We
have no idea, and you can't then take Arch out
like you can't take your starting quarterback out and then
the backup have success, because then you can't go back.
So now you're in a situation where you have lost Arch,
(42:51):
like lost him and if he's not the best quarterback,
you don't really care if he transfers, but there's no
way to go back. So Sark has a task on
his hands. The Manning family has a task on their
hands because getting the quarterback out of that and getting
(43:13):
his confidence all the way back up one of the
most difficult things to do in season compared to in
the offseason. Two separate things all right. The next thing
that we got to talk about is DJ Lagway over
at Florida because Florida, he threw thirty three for forty
(43:33):
nine two hundred and eighty seven yards and five interceptions.
Do you realize how bad that is? And the interceptions
were ugly, including a pick six, and the pick six
wasn't even the ugliest one. The fifth one was the
ugliest one. It was terrible. And this was a game
(43:54):
that Florida lost twenty to ten. So if you cut
those interceptions down a one, you probably win this game.
You probably win this game. It was bad. It was really, really,
really bad. And now we have seen two kids that
(44:15):
were propped up in the preseason with d J Lagway
and Arch Manning, now they're struggling. Kay Klubneck now he
but it's different because he's a because he's had success.
And but now you have two young guys struggling, and
the question is how do you fix it? And in
(44:37):
uh Florida's situation, it's even worse. It's even worse for
Florida because the question is what happens if Billy Napier
gets fired, because he has to get the belief back
of the fans of the of of every body in
(45:00):
that building. So then what happens with DJ Lagway? This
is the question because when you watch him, it is
feast or famine. There are times where you see amazing
throws out of DJ Lagway. The kid is physically gifted,
and then sometimes you're like, who's coaching him? That's Whatso,
(45:26):
whether it's a Lagway issue, whether it's a coaching issue,
there is a disconnect between what is happening in what
you're getting on the field and what the development that
you would like to see. Because right now DJ Lagway
and Anthony Richardson look like the same person, except for
(45:46):
DJ Lagway's a little more accurate. That's the difference. But
now on the LSU front, this man, mister Brian Kelly,
who scoffed at who scoffed at Dabo Sweeney for saying
(46:08):
that when they played first game of the season, uh
Dabbo said his team got an f and LSU gotta
got gotta d Brian kelch, Hey, WHOA, what the hell
do you mean now? D what film was he watching?
He was watching your film, That's what he was watching.
Because Brian Kelly got upset in the post game about
(46:34):
He got upset in the post game about a question
being asked by a reporter about his offense and why
is his offense struggle? He's, well, well, we wanted won
the game. What are you talking about? I just told you,
blah blah. Know, these are fair questions. You were four
to fourteen on third down. Florida's defense is pretty good,
(46:58):
but it ain't that damn good. You got Garrett Nussmyer,
you have wide receivers who were fantastic. What's the issue?
So it's a legitimate question. So and people might well
they won twenty to ten because he said, well, well,
we played the way to win the game. Plorter was
in the game at all times. Think about this d
(47:22):
Day lagway through five interceptions one, two, three, four, fifth,
including a pick six. So that means that your offense,
Brian Kelly, only scored thirteen points. Thirteen. That's it, man,
that's it. So when I look at this LSU team
(47:44):
and this offense at this point in time, now, mind you,
they still have time to grow into a potentially college
football playoff for a national championship type type team, because
you don't have to be your final form at this
point in time. But unless you can start converting better
on third down, this ain't gonna cut it. It's not
(48:06):
gonna cut it at all. They rushed the ball twenty
two times for one hundred for one hundred and two yards,
and they held Florida only seventy nine yards rushing. So
Florida got op issues running the football, quarterback issues, everything else,
but the biggest issue for LSU third downs four for
(48:29):
fourteen on third down. That it's impossible to run up
scores and beat people badly when your third down percentage
is as low as it is. It's just the truth.
And then when you look in the Clemson game, they
were four to four eleven in the Clemson game, it
(48:51):
only scored seventeen points in that game. It's not gonna
cut it. So until we see different out of LSU,
we can't put them as a team that can win
the SEC or win a national championship. And people are
given credit to Brett Blake Baker's defense, and yes they've
(49:13):
done a pretty good job, but Florida's offense, who only
scored sixteen points against USF who got boat raced by
Miami forty nine to twelve. And then you have Clemson's offense,
(49:33):
who looks bad right now too. So the question is
LSU's defense elite or were they playing against bad offenses?
That's the question. All right, we gotta talk about Arkansas
Old Miss thirty five forty one. No Austin Simmons, no
problem for Old Miss. And honestly, Trinidad Chamberlass actually runs
(49:57):
the offense perfectly that Lane Kippen wants to run. He
ran for two touchdowns, threw one touchdown as well. And
I look at this Old Miss team and I told y'all,
Old Miss in twenty twenty six is like Michigan in
twenty twenty six, and they're both alike. In twenty twenty five,
(50:22):
good football teams will beat some good football teams. Not
a great football team yet. And I believe in what
Lane Kiffin is doing because he is getting it right
now and he's stopping all the Yippi yeppie right now.
And Old Miss, who went from having one of the
best defensive lines in the country last year, they got
(50:43):
blown off the ball against Arkansas. And Arkansas is good,
But are they two hundred and twenty one rushing yards
against them at six yards to carry good? That is
highly concerning for Old Miss because when you look at
their upcoming skills edule, you're looking at Old Miss and
you're like, I don't know, fam, Are we sure? Are
(51:06):
we sure about that? Are we sure that this is
a winning formula? Because Taylor Greenon and Mike Washington, Braylan
Russell and Cam Shanks thirty seven two twenty two and
(51:26):
for six yards of carry, now Old Miss forty rushing yards.
I'm sorry, forty carries at three yards to carry one
hundred and eighteen yards. So you're looking at this Arkansas team,
You're like, oh, wow, they are able to run the
they're able to stop the run. But then you're also
(51:48):
looking at him and saying, they can't stop to pass
against Old Miss. So I believe that Arkansas is better.
Bobby Petrino's offense comported themselves well against Old Miss, and
this just shows that the SEC is deep this year.
But none of these teams are elite at this point
(52:08):
in time. Even though Old Miss is undefeated, you dig
deep down into it, they're a good, solid football team.
And this is what makes the SEC so interesting is
that Old Miss can beat They could beat Georgia, they
could beat Oklahoma, but not the both of them. That's
(52:29):
the thing there. And then for Arkansas when you look
at their rest of the schedule, they got Notre Dame, Tennessee,
Texas A and m Auburn, LSU in Texas and Missouri.
Pray for them now they're gonna win some of those games.
Do not think that Arkansas is gonna go up, go
out here and get roughed up every week, because that
(52:52):
definitely is not what is going to happen now, honest
conversation about Vanderbilt because this is a team and this
is just like Georgia Tech. This is much like South
Florida with Alex Golish and Byron Brown. When you have
a head coach like Clark Lee over there at Vanderbilt
(53:14):
and a quarterback like Diego Pavia, you put them to individually,
yes they're good, not special, But when you put the
belief that both of these dudes have and you put
it together, it creates nuclear level belief in the people
(53:36):
around them. Because Vanderbilt is not as talented as South
Carolina and Shane Biemer is gonna get a lot of
negative talk after this game despite Leonora Seller's getting knocked
out of the game, but Vanderbilt was in control of
(53:56):
the game even when he got knocked out. So when
you are supposedly the eleventh ranked team in the country,
even when your backup comes in and he went eighteen
for twenty seven, Lukedoti for one eighty four or one
forty eight and a pick. Sellers was six for seven
for ninety four yards and a pick. So this was
(54:21):
not a game that you were for sure going to win,
even with Leonora Sellers in there. And that is the
problem for South Carolina fans because they're looking at the
results and they're saying, listen, I know that that Leonora
Sellers got knocked out and you lose your starting quarterback,
that can be a problem. The issue is that South
(54:43):
Carolina fans don't believe that they would have won this
game even if Lenora Sellers had finished the game. They
believed that it could have happened, but they don't believe
that it would have happened. That's the thing, and that's
why this combination of Clark Lee and Pabia for Vanderbilt,
(55:05):
their belief system is the thing that is fueling them
because they are under the delusion that they can win
a national championship. Pabia went on busting with the boys.
He went on everybody's show and told everybody in the
country that he believes that they can win a national championship.
And with that level of delusion, you can actually probably
(55:28):
do it. That's the thing. So good on them and
Pabya continues to play well. All right, Next thing up,
we got to talk about the Oregon Ducks who dropped
multiple spots in the ap pole. Now here is the
thing about that is that Oregon beat Northwestern thirty four
(55:52):
to fourteen. Now, this game was a nine am kick.
This was a bring your own juice gamekick tiny stadium game.
You know you're gonna win, to bring your own juice came.
I did not like at times. Well, at the beginning
(56:14):
of the game, I thought Northwestern was extremely physical. And
I was texting with a Big Ten coach during the
game and I was like, man, too many rush yards.
He was like, George, relaxed. Northwestern is highly physical. They're
one of the most physical teams in the Big Ten.
Don't trip. And at the end of the game, you
(56:37):
look up, thirty seven carries one hundred and seventy eight
yards four point eight yards. Care Now, there was a Now,
Northwestern didn't even score it to the fourth quarter, garbage time,
all that stuff, but one of them was a seventy
nine yard touchdown in garbage time. So Northwestern's real rushing
(56:57):
stats were thirty six for ninety nine. And if you're
a team and you get that, you're gonna be excited
about that. You are, you are. So I look at
this Duck's team. Noah Whittington, they're starting running back, didn't play,
but he practiced all week. Their backup quarterback was Luke
(57:17):
Moga instead of Austin novasakas he's been hurt. They are
shuffling so many players in and out, trying to figure
out who should play when they get the happy valley,
and that rotation shrinks down a lot. I actually love
the way Dan Lanning is doing this. I believe that
this plan is good. The true freshmen are getting on
(57:38):
the field, they are playing significant amounts of time, and
then that roster is going to shrink down. It is
going to shrink down a lot when it comes to
big ten play. And I appreciate that because figure it,
let it all figure out, let it play out and
see who should be playing. But the thing I do
(58:02):
love about Oregon. What's going on right now is Dante Moore.
I believe that they can build the entire offense around
Dante more because when he is operating from the pocket,
this is an NFL quarterback. This is a not only
a NFL quarterback, this is a special quarterback. And mind you,
(58:25):
he recovered from the DJ lagway, he recovered from the
arch Manning what they're going through right now. He is
a prime example of why you can't throw either one
of them in the trash right now and say, oh,
it ain't ever gonna happen. He is the poster boy
for this recently transferred sat down behind a legitimate NFL
(58:49):
quarterback in Dylan Gabriel and a really good offensive coordinator
in Will Stein. Now he's ready to go. So I'm
excited about the Duck. People are still having them flying
under the radar because they've been so dominant in Oklahoma State,
not very good Northwestern. They're gonna win some football games,
(59:11):
but not regarded as a power, so they don't have
when you look at their wins on of name value,
They're not gonna have the same name value that Clemson
that LSU has with beating Clemson and then coming back
and winning against Florida. Northwestern might beat Florida if we're
really being honest, or give or give them a good game.
(59:34):
But now on to Penn State, who beat Vanderbilt fifty
of Villanova fifty two to six. Now I know that
most people like George. Why is this not in the
fast break segment? The reason why this is not in
the fast break segment is because I wanted to compare
it to the Oregon game. Because Penn State, their past
offense is questionable. Right now and in two weeks, because
(59:58):
Penn State has a bye this week, Oregon play State.
Oregon is gonna travel the Happy Valley after have for
the Whiteout Game, their biggest game of the whole season.
Oregon goes into that game, haven't played Montana State, a
really good FCS team, Oklahoma State, Northwestern, and then Oregon State,
(01:00:19):
Penn State who's having offensive troubles, not running the football,
passing the football. This is not just George talking, This
is their fans talking. They have played FIU Nevada's down
this year and Villanova That's who they've played. Is that
a good enough schedule to get them ready to play
(01:00:42):
the Ducks in two weeks. Now they should have a
schematic advantage because they get a chance to watch Oregon
for another week and come up with all sorts of
fancy gadget plays, things that should should work. But have
they been tested with that intensity compared to what Oregon
(01:01:04):
is going to have gone through? So they get three
layup games, no pressure in any of them, not just
because they dominated, because they didn't dominate Villan Nowhere at
first in the past game, in the run game. Yes,
so that's the question, all right, Now on to Wisconsin
Alabama thirty eight thirty four I'm sorry thirty eight to fourteen. Yes,
(01:01:28):
my Alabama ended up covering. But and Kaitlin de Bort
has settled Paul five bomb callers for at least two
weeks because they're off this week. He has settled them down.
Is he has settled them down. And but at the
(01:01:50):
same time, they did a great job this week of
getting Ryan Williams the ball. Ty Simpson was electric basically
playing fall Is football, and they absolutely held Wisconsin underwater
and drowned. That's that's what they did. This was a
blood bath, blood bath. They only allowed two point nine
(01:02:16):
yards per carry. It was bad, and we knew that
it was likely gonna get out of out of hand.
But this was bad. This was bad, bad, and Wisconsin
is not the same team that they were and their
head coach Luke Fickle is under the gun right now.
(01:02:38):
He is. That's that's just the truth. They got early
wins against Miami of Ohio and Middle Tennessee State, but
when they come up against Maryland, Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State, Oregon, Washington, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota,
it could be swimming in the deep end. Man, They
could be swimming in the in the sixth law deep end.
(01:03:02):
And he just got a contract extension. But Wisconsin fans
not gonna be happy about that. I'm just letting you
know that right now. But Ty Simpson, though, I want
to talk talk about him because he is going to
be the difference between Alabama going far and not. Because
he was twenty four for twenty nine three eighty two
four touchdowns, and yes, some of that was yack, because
(01:03:25):
Ryan Williams had five catches for one sixty five and
two touchdowns and long of seventy five and I think
on the screen pass. So yes, some of these numbers
are inflated. And with Wisconsin just got absolutely torched with
their backup quarterback Danny O'Neill, who transferred from San Diego State.
(01:03:46):
But it's not really much to say about this game
for Alabama because they did exactly what they were supposed
to do. This is a team that people predicted to
win a national championship, but we gonna find out over
the next five weeks because they have a bye this week.
They got but then after that by Georgia Vanderbilt, Missouri Tennessee.
(01:04:07):
Who's the real deal? If they're real or not. Now
the next team up. I want to talk about Miami
South Florida forty nine to twelve because I was doing
this game for c W in the studio lightning delay.
South Florida ran out of talent. I told y'all that
this was gonna happen. South Florida has five guys who
(01:04:31):
may play in the NFL on some level. Miami has
twenty five and Mario Crystaball has built this roster. Well,
they are running people over. They are absolutely running people
over and being the type of physical that this man
wants to be. He wants to impose his will on people,
(01:04:52):
and you see his intensity. But the question is will
Mario crystal Ball be able to not make any strategic
mistakes down the road because Carson Beck, his quarterback, is
a very, very seasoned quarterback. He has an NFL arm,
(01:05:15):
he has, he has all the tangibles that it takes
to be a potential first round pick. Now, he threw
two interceptions in this game. Neither of them were pretty.
Neither of them were pretty, and those are the things
that you don't like about it. But the thing that
you do like about Miami is they have weapons everywhere,
and you love this offensive line. You love this offensive line. CJ. Daniels,
(01:05:41):
Malachi Moore of freshmen Joshua Moore freshmen had multiple touchdowns
this game. Then the running backs Charmarr and Mark Fletcher Jr.
They have a plethora of weapons everywhere. And Carson Beck
twenty three for twenty eight two forty three tubs. That's
(01:06:03):
what you want out of them. Now. The two picks
weren't great. But Miami's defense, which was questionable last year
at times, even though the stats said otherwise, if you
kept running the ball at them they would break well,
South Florida kept trying to run the ball at them
twenty seven times forty yards one point five yards carry.
(01:06:27):
That's just the truth. In Miami did exactly what Chris
Ball wanted to do. Thirty eight carries, two hundred and
five yards, four touchdowns. That's who he is in his court,
all right. I gotta give a shout out to I
gotta give a shout out to Kansas State. And the
reason why I got to give a shout out to
(01:06:47):
Kansas State is because they are in a situation. I
picked them to go to the College Football Playoff and
I could not have been any more wrong. Oh I
blew it. I absolutely blew this. Kansas State will be
(01:07:10):
lucky after this. Arizona lost twenty three to seventeen. They'll
be lucky to make a bowl game. And but big
shout out to Arizona horrible season last year. After Jed
Fish left you, San Jose State's coach comes over and
it looks like it's a disaster. Well, you know what,
(01:07:34):
them boys are now three and zero and this wasn't
even a six point game because Arizona missed three field goals.
This looks bad. This looks bad for Kansas State climbing.
Gotta get it fixed. Really good coach, that ain't it?
Because Kansas State might not even make a bowl game.
(01:07:54):
They still got Baylor, TCU, Kansas, Texas Tech, and Utah left.
Stop it, now, here's the team. Actually, let me get
to the comments to see if there's anything that we
need to address. Do UCLA and Virginia Tech have enough
players to fill the team by the end of the
year one percent? Many These dudes ain't gonna quit or
the hell you think that they gonna go. They're not
(01:08:15):
going nowhere. They are not going anywhere. These players are
not going anywhere where the hell. Yes, they can hop
in the portal now where they're gonna transfer to. They're
gonna transfer to sit out the rest of the season. No,
they will be playing the rest of the season if
they have any common sense or good people around somebody,
(01:08:36):
Jessica said, Clearly Sark didn't prepare talking about arch manning properly,
which is sad. Yeah, that's tough. Uh. The consistency with
teams around eleven to twelve losing a game and dropping
out completely is a nice touch. I love That's that's
the way I do my rankings. I love it. Yeah,
(01:08:59):
So all right, let's get to this. Yeah, the team
that has been begging to be talked about. Is USC
they finally played somebody with I mean, they got a
new head coach in Odam who came from UNLV, so
his roster ain't where it's supposed to be, systemate where
it's supposed to be. But USC wants to be talked
(01:09:22):
about so badly right now. They won this game thirty
three to seventeen, and they're sitting there and they all,
oh my god, we have the number one yardage, We
got the number one offensive. Listen, you have not played
anybody who's even gonna go to a bowl game this year.
Probably you played Missouri State and Georgia Southern. And now
(01:09:48):
you've played per Due, who is the worst team in
the Big Ten last year and fired their head coach.
And yes, they're better, but you won thirty three to seventeen,
and it's not like you. It wasn't like the Oregon
game where Oregon was up thirty four to nothing in
the fourth quarter. And uh, but I will say this
(01:10:09):
game did have one of the weirdest touchdowns that you
have ever seen in your life. Go on my Twitter
at George Reister, I posted it there. It was one
of the weirdest things that you ever see this USC team.
I do not know what to make of them, yet
they want to be talked about, so we're gonna give
them a little bit of love. But did anybody not
(01:10:32):
expect them to be three and oh at this point
in time with this schedule? If they weren't three and oh,
wouldn't that be a problem. That would be a major problem.
So the question I got for USC is, you got
Michigan State. You got Michigan State this weekend eight pm
(01:10:53):
on Fox at Home. What are you gonna do? What
are you gonna do? Mischigan State's not a top tier
Big Ten team. What are you gonna do? Pack twelve
after dark? Essentially, then you're at Illinois, at Michigan, at
Notre Dame. Oh sorry, versus Michigan at Notre Dame and
(01:11:13):
at Nebraska. Let's see what you're talking about when October,
you know, when October twenty fifth comes around, at the
end of that game, how lad me there? How led me?
In a month? Let's see what your record is there.
Then then we'll see if you can get passed. If
(01:11:34):
they get passed Illinois and then Michigan, Oh, I'll give
them respect even if they lose to Notre Dame. If
they can get navigate these next three games, now we
can start looking at USC and be like, oh yeah,
that's a potential playoff team. All right. Last thing up
for the games is the fast break. These are the
(01:11:56):
games that you did not watch, but I paid attention
to that way you didn't have to. Oregon State versus
Texas Tech forty five to fourteen. I gotta give I
mean Baron Morton thirteen point three yards per attempt, and
I am excited about Texas Tech. We don't know what
(01:12:19):
they are yet, but that Cody Campbell money has been
well spent. Clearly they are significantly better than they were.
Oklahoma versus Temple forty two to three. This is one
of them games where John Mattier when we started talking
about Heisman in a couple weeks, this game will matter.
(01:12:40):
You have Illinois versus Western Michigan thirty eight to zero.
Illinois continues to truck along doing what they're supposed to do.
You got Utah versus Wyoming thirty one to six. That
might as well be seven hundred to six against Wyoming
because they find a way to show let you down,
(01:13:00):
some kind of way, because they they are tough. Devin
Dampier now has three hundred and fifty seven yards rushing
on thirty one carries, and that's just against Wyoming alone
in the three games that he's had against them. And
then the last thing, there was another odd game, Ohio
State versus Ohio thirty seven to nine. If you were
(01:13:26):
box scorer watching the third quarter, You're like, what the
hell is going on here? It was like twenty to
nine or somebody. It was crazy. You're like, I know
they ain't not going to lose to Ohio or we
have this close. But their game went similar to the
way Oregon's you know, game went. I'm not concerned about
(01:13:46):
that team at all. But speaking of concerned about teams,
let's talk about my college football playoff because I like to,
you know, go back to this. I don't feel good
about this right now. I'm making a new one. I'm
making a new one of these this week because I
don't feel good about Clemson right now. I don't feel
(01:14:08):
good about Texas, Kansas State's out of the picture, LSU,
I feel okay South Carolina, don't feel good about Notre
Dame has a back door chance, but I still feel
good about the team. Still feel good about Oregon. I
feel good about Penn State making it. I feel good
about Ohio State making it. I feel really good about
George making it. So that's Kansas State, Clemson, Texas, South Carolina. Yeah, yeah,
(01:14:40):
so I get eight out of twelve, I'll still be
happy because that'll be just like last year. And the
last thing is I'm ana flash these polls up to you. Well,
my poll from last week, Yeah, I feel good about
my poll from last week. My poll from next week
will be out in the only team in my top
(01:15:02):
teams that lost were South Florida because they were playing
against Miami, my number one team, and they treated them
like the number one team. And my poll based on
three three's schedule, played quality, wins and dominance all that
other stuff everybody else try to sell. You don't pay
no attention to it. But this pole will change this week.
But you did have the oh, the other poles. Where
(01:15:28):
are those? Oh, the FPI and the AP pole. Now,
the FBI they did something to the metrics of this pole.
They have been shamed. Now they won't admit it, but
I'm telling you they changed it. They changed the algorithm
that puts this rating out. Tell you because the SEC
(01:15:48):
teams not getting enough love of not getting to love
that they were. But Alabama, Lord have mercy due them.
Nick Saban wins carry weight and the recruiting rankings carrying
out a lot of weight from what they done the
last two years. But the ap pole, it's very very interesting,
say the least. But you guys thought. I'm George Reister.
(01:16:11):
