Speaker 1 (00:00):
Tapping a gang. This is Jay Glazier, Welcome into Unbreakable
and Mental Wealth podcast. Today's a mental health checkup, and
today is a much different checkup than I would have
had yesterday or a week ago or a week before that.
I've just been in a dark gray hole for a
good month. It started, I think I told you guys,

(00:21):
but the suicide of a really close friend of mine
who had lived with me, and after that just threw
me off my game. And where I made the mistake
because I stopped getting into all my routines and my rituals,
and I threw myself off. So instead of attacking this
and leaning into my rituals more, which I knew I
needed to do, I fell off it and I just

(00:41):
started going down to darker, darker, darker paths. Even canceled
my therapy session. And that's what happens a lot of times.
Week we start getting these things where we just almost
don't want to help, but man, we need to help.
The key to tot success is doing things when you
don't want to do it, when no one's watching. And
I felt do that for this past month. I'm back

(01:02):
on getting back on my routines. Today is a much, much,
much better day. I am planning to dive into my
rituals really strongly. And what I did was I scheduled it.
I made times no matter what, that's on my schedule
today and it's going to be for the rest of
the week. Get myself back going. The great thing is

(01:23):
that I have these rituals that I know works. I
have them at my disposal. It's whether I decided to
use them or not. That's a different question. So I
wasn't using them. Now I'm making that choice. Then I'm
going to use them and I'm not going to pull
away from them. But at the same time, too, I
do want to say I did lean into some teammates

(01:43):
the other night. I told Michael Strand and Kurt Metafie guys,
I am off. I am bipolar right now. I am
not good. I realized I should have told them what
I needed those moments I didn't. But at least I
was able to tell someone at a work event or
if I was off, they could pull me away. I
told my wife. I told Michael Phelps, let's start leaning

(02:05):
into my teammates in the right way and they'll be
really get back on track. Rosie O the idea of, hey,
i't been doing your rituals. Let's get you doing your rituals.
Let's get you back on track. So hopefully this is
the start of me getting back on track for in
a really painful month. But gang, I'm work in progress.
I am perfect, I am beat it fully. I don't

(02:27):
think we ever will, and I'm good with that because
if I don't beat it fully, that will allow me
to continue to learn new ways to help beat this thing,
and then I can teach them to you, guys, coach
them up. Love you, guys. Let's keep walking this walk together.

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
