Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome In and Gang to Breakable, a mental wealth podcast
with Jay Glazer. I'm Jay Glazer and today is just
a mental health checking. It's kind of been a weird
couple of days for me. Look, one of my teammates yesterday,
Jimmy Johnson, retired, and I had known about it for
a few days and I didn't really process it until
it really happened yesterday and I realized, Man, I sat

(00:21):
next to this cat for twenty two years in our
green room we call it an avocado room at Fox,
and man, it really hit me hard. It's a a
breakup of a relationship. It got me and my wife
was like, you shoot down. I'm like, yeah, I just
kind of hit me. I've been with this cat for

(00:42):
twenty two years, sitting next to me every Sunday, and
it's it's over. And it was hard. And she's like, well,
when you remember the things that you enjoyed the most
about them? And I'm like, hey, you know what, that's
what I always tell people to do. I always tell
everybody else celebrate themselves. Make sure you celebrate yourself. And

(01:03):
she's like, well, why aren't you doing the same thing.
Don't don't sit in the dumps. You have all this,
You have twenty two years to celebrate instead of twenty
two years that is gone. View it differently, view it
as Wow, you have all these special memories and lessons
you learn from him, things that you taught you, laughs
that you certainly enjoyed together, and celebrate those. And that's

(01:27):
why you lean into your teammates gang. Because Rosie was right, like, man,
I took a car yesterday first, and then all of
a sudden, She's like, just go back down memory lanes,
start enjoying these things and living all laughs that you
guys experienced together. And oh my god, where there are
a lot of laughs together. So I will switch the narrative,
turn it around. But yeah, man I was I was

(01:49):
the tag yesterday. Not gonna lie. Well, my coach. I
think America's coach decided to step away even though I
knew it was coming. There's a harsh reality. But it
would also reminded me. Look instead of instead of leaning
into the loss, more so leaning to the memories. And
I'll laughs, let just keep walking this walk together

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
