I recorded some stories and hoped that by uploading them to a podcast app, my wife and kids could have easy access to listen. What started as a fix for our family’s bedtime routine interruption has grown into a worldwide audience with hundreds of thousands of listeners. My wife Jocelyn and I have 3 kids and love inspiring others towards greater imagination and curiosity.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to Unicorn bedtime stories. As it is time to
slow down our breathing and even Yon once or twice.
Let's close her eyes and begin our Unicorn adventure. Luna,
don't fly too high or you will fall off. The
moon moon glowed. The unicorn was trying to keep up

(00:23):
with her baby unicorn Luna. Luna had just gained her
unicorn magic and was doing a great job of wearing
her mammy Unicorn wee. Luna whinnied with glee as she
soared over mooncraters. Since the unicorns were magical moon creatures,
the lack of gravity and space didn't stop them from leaping, flying,

(00:45):
or falling. They floated around on rainbows and clouds, sprinkling
glitter everywhere, no gravity or air needed. Mama, Look, Luna
had just learned how to make her own rainbows, and
she she had shot one out into space. Being a
curious baby unicorn, she was climbing it as she called

(01:06):
to her. Mammy. Moonglow gulped as she spotted Luna, who
was almost at the top when she started to wobble. Luna,
don't fall, La too late. Luna had toppled off of
the rainbow and out into space. She was falling and fast.
Mama's coming Luna. Monglow kicked off the moon, her hoofs

(01:28):
creating rainbows as she soared through space toward her. Baby.
Luna was twirling and tumbling around when Moonglow caught up
to her and grabbed her baby tight. Mamma Luna neighed happily,
but Monglow had kicked off too hard and they were
going too fast. They were heading straight toward the closest
planet Earth. Boom, the unicorns broke through the Earth's atmosphere

(01:52):
without slowing down. They zoomed through clouds, past aeroplanes and
confused birds, heading straight for the ground. Moonglow pointed her
horn at the little space left between them and the
grass and puffed out a fluffy blue cloud. Instead of
crashing into the ground, Moonglow, in Luna's fall, was cushioned
by the bouncy, soft unicorn cloud. Again. Mamma Baby Luna whinnied,

(02:17):
shooting glitter out of her horn. I think that's enough
excitement for the day, Moonglow started to say, but she
stopped when she heard a noise behind them. She turned
quickly and saw they had landed in someone's backyard. It
sounded like someone was opening the back door to come outside.
Monglow had to come up with a plan. Luna sh quiet,

(02:40):
pretend to be a horse. The mammy Unicorn grabbed leaves
to cover their horns. Someone is coming. A girl named
Juniper was coming out of the back door of her
house to find what had just come barreling down out
of the sky. Maybe it's an asteroid, she thought, or
an alien. But Juniper stepped out the back door and

(03:01):
saw there were no alien spaceships in her backyard, no
burning hot asteroids either. All she saw were two sparkly horses.
Where did you two come from? Juniper asked the horses
as she came closer. Nay nay nay replied, muon glow,
in a poor attempt at sounding like a regular horse.

(03:23):
I've never seen such colorful horses. Why are you all sparkly?
Juniper tried to wipe the glitter off of Luna. Luna
started laughing that tickles. Juniper pulled her hand back and jumped,
you talk, horses, don't talk. Luna looks seriously at Juniper, responding,

(03:43):
sh Mama said, to be a horse. That's why I
have leaves on my head right mama. Now even more confused,
Juniper grabbed for the leaves on Luna's head. What you
have leaves on your head because you are pretending to
be a horse. What do you mean by holy conoley,
you're a unicorn? She shouted as she got a hold

(04:04):
of the leaves on Luna's head and revealed her glimmering horn.
Luna looked proud and immediately showered Juniper and rainbow glitter. Yay,
you guessed it. I'm a unicorn. Then, looking at her mommy,
she asked, can I pretend to be a dragon now? Mama?
Monglow just sighed and shook the leaves off her head too. Yes,

(04:25):
you're right, we are unicorns, she started to explain, but
Luna interrupted, no, Mama, I'm a dragon. Okay, I am
a unicorn, and my name is Moonglow. This is my
baby dragon. Her name is Luna. Luna roared in response
and shout a rainbow out of her tail. Juniper's mouth

(04:46):
dropped open as she stared at it. Moonglow continued, people
aren't supposed to know that we exist, so that is
why we tried to hide. But we could actually use
your help. Juniper stopped staring at Luna, who was now
practicing and making her own cloud puffs and leaping around
on them, and looked back at Munglow. How can I help, Well,

(05:08):
we need to get back to her home on the moon.
Do you know of anyone who could take us, Juniper
couldn't believe their luck? Well, yes, actually I do. My
grandma's an astronaut. I'm sure she could drop you guys
off on our next mission. Mungolo smiled as if this
was no surprise. We unicorns are very lucky. Juniper called

(05:31):
up her grandma to ask her about taking the unicorns
back to the Moon. Being an astronaut, it came as
no surprise to Grandma that magical unicorns lived on the moon.
Give them some marshmallows while they wait. Grandma told Juniper
they love those, and I will call up the space
station to let them know the situation. We can have
Moonglow and Luna back home by bedtime. Juniper thanked her

(05:54):
grandma and then told the unicorns they were so happy
they shot glitter and rainbows all over Junia's backyard. Then
Juniper went inside to get marshmallows and some coloring books
to pass the time. Grandma showed up in our space suit.
A couple of hours later, she had rented a pink
party bus to take the unicorns to the space station. Okay, unicorns,

(06:16):
are you ready to go? Luna whinnied and showered Grandma
in purple glitter, while Moonglow said yes, thank you so much.
Do you think we could take some marshmallows for the trip,
of course, replied Grandma, and Juniper handed them the rest
of the bag. Bye bye, Luna called out to Juniper,

(06:37):
see you next time I fall off the moon. Juniper laughed,
waving goodbye to the unicorns and her grandma.
