About Mr. Jim:

Hi! I'm Jim Jacob, a South Carolina based creator. I started as a podcaster by accident. Our first real episodes on the internet were me trying to find a solution to help tell my sons stories as I was traveling for work. I recorded some stories and hoped that by uploading them to a podcast app, my wife and kids could have easy access to listen. What started as a fix for our family’s bedtime routine interruption has grown into a worldwide audience with hundreds of thousands of listeners. My wife Jocelyn and I have 3 kids and love inspiring others towards greater imagination and curiosity.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
The cotton candy castle catastrophe wee cried Princess Avelin as
she rode through the lollipop forest on the back of
her pet unicorn.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Gum Drops.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Gum Drops and the Princess were the best of friends.
They loved morning gallops through the lollipop forest, swimming with
the gummy sharks in the lake, and skiing down ice
Cream Mountain together.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
And skiing down ice Cream Mountain together, they.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Reached the chocolate bar road and Princess a hopped off.
I'm hungry, declared gum Drops. Let's head home and have
French toast. That sounds delicious, replied Princess Avelin. I'll race you,
and the two friends ran back to their castle. They
could always smell their home before they saw it. The

(00:51):
wind carried the scent of spunge sugar down the hill
toward them. As they walked up the hill, the fluffy
towers were the first to come into view. Castle looked
like it was formed from edible, bright pink clouds, and
it basically was. It was a cotton candy castle. Hey, ay,
pass me the syrup please, gum Drops whinnied to her

(01:11):
friend across the table as they ate their French.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Toast as a unicorn.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Gum Drops had a major sweet tooth. Avelin had to
stop her from eating the walls of their cotton candy castle.
Every now and then. The princess slid the syrup to
gum Drops while listening to the weather report. Summer is
here in sugar USh City. Today is shaping up to
be the hottest day on record. Aveln was excited at
the snooze hottest summer day. This sounds like a perfect

(01:37):
day to go to the lake. The unicorn burped as
she finished her fren's toast. Let's go get our towels
and head out.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Gum Drops was also excited.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
The two friends loved to swim up. In her room,
Gumdrops was making sure she had all the essentials for
a fun day at the lake. Towel, check, sunglasses, check
bag of emergency candy. Bloop, Something landed on top of
gum Drop's sparkly mane.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Huh what was that? Bloop? Plump?

Speaker 1 (02:09):
This time something plopped onto her nose.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
She looked it. Yum, that's delicious.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
She cantered out to tell Avelon that something delicious was
happening in her room, Princess Avelin, come quick. Something delicious
just landed on me in my room. Gum Drops, help,
was Avelon's only reply. Gumdrops turned her canter into a
full gallop and arrived to see the Princess's room brighter
than usual and covered in a.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Pink, sticky goop. Hey, did you add a skylight in here?
It's so bright? What's all over your stuf, asked gum Drops.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
No, gum Drops, look up, my ceiling is gone.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
It melted.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Sure enough, When gum Drops looked up, she saw the
whole ceiling of Avelen's room was missing. Oh no, gold, Gundrops,
it's too hot. Our castle is melting. The walls in
Princess Abelin's room began to sag. The two friends waded
through the goopy melted sugar and made it to the door.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Gum Drops, the stairs.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
The stairs to the front hall had all melted down
into a sticky slide. They tried to head toward the
other stairway by the kitchen, but a river of pink
melted sugar was heading toward them. Gum Drops slipped the
stream of sugar.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
This is the most delicious problem I've ever had.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Princess Abelin tried not to laugh at our silly unicorn. Gumdrops,
we need to get out of here before we get
stuck in this syrupy mess and the whole castle melts.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
What do we do?

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Gum Drops looked around for ideas. All of the walls
in the hallway were beginning to drip drop sugary streams
were escaping every room and running down the slide that
used to be the stairs. The only things still intact
were the cookie doors. Eureka shouted, gum Drops, I have
an idea, Princess, ay, grab the door and give them

(04:00):
to me. The melty walls made it easy for Aveelin
to pull the doors off. She handed them to the
unicorn and watched her put them on the ground. Hop
on instructed gum Drops, Abelin jumped onto the cookie, hold
on tight, Gumdrops pushed the cookie down the hall with
her horn, heading.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Straight for the stairs.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Whoo. The two friends screamed with glee as Gumdrops jumped
on behind the princess and the cookie careen down the
slide stairs. The stream of liquid sugar was now running
down like a water slide, propelling them even faster. Toward
the front hall. With a woosh, the cookie door skipped
across the front hall, not losing any speed. As it

(04:40):
headed for the front doors, gum Drops were going to crash.
Avelin burrowed into her unicorn sitting behind her. Gum Drops
leaned forward and pointed her horn at the doors.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Crash.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
The cookie and its two passengers burst through the doors
and came to a stop on the sticky grass outside
the melted castle. Princess Aveelin and her gum dropped castle
melted into a pinky shimmer pool of sugar. With the
help of friends, they rebuilt their castle, but made sure
to use a candy with a higher melting point this time.
