Speaker 4 (00:16):
TJ.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Houshman Zanna.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
I'm just bringing the viewers into how grown men in
the locker room, like I don't play with some dude
that you disrespect them anyway, it didn't matter who it
was they was putting hands on you.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
And Blaxico bur they are the same person, the same
exact quarterback.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
It's a show with three of the best to ever
do it on and off the field, and no live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Here's pro bowler TJ.
Hushman Zanna and Super Bowl champion Blaxicopherus.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Welcome in Up on Game myself, mister Flexico Burgs. LeVar
has business to handle this morning and for some others
this afternoon, so he won't be joining us today. But
we have a fun, field packed show for y'all. It's
a lot of football talk as we get closer than
I told you guys weeks ago.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
My favorite time of the.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Year once we get a preseason game every week, it's football, football, football.
We got a lot of talk. Get to Terry McLaurin.
What's going on with Chicago Bears. Oh, Travis Hunter is
already missing a game? Is at a bad time? We
don't know. We will continue to find out how this

(01:36):
progression is in the National Football League. But if you
got anything to say to us, you can twist. You
can still tweet tweet a Leavar Arrington, let him you
know he's missing a great show. Who's shady for at
Plexico burs or at Fox Sports Radio. Listen live on
the iHeart Radio out by searching FSR or Fox Sports
Radio search up on game wherever you get your podcast
from mister Burris. Man, how you doing it? Ain't even

(02:00):
this morning for yourself? This afternoon?

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Man, Oh, it's a beautiful Saturday, man, I have zero complaints.
The weather's nice, and you know it's it's a great saturday, man,
and a lot of football on the shelf. College football
starts next week in two weeks. And oh man, it's
just man, it's a beautiful time of the year. It's

(02:24):
our favorite time of the year, you know that. Yeah,
the weather out here little overcast right now.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
I've been like this the last few days and then
about eleven thirty, it's weird. It's clear skies and palm trees,
but little overcasts every day almost now and then you
Plexico speaks of college football starting. I don't know, well,
y'all don't know. I'm gonna feel you, guys in Plexico
son will be playing for Notre Dame. I know that

(02:50):
is an exciting moment for you, your wife, your family.
And the stuff that I've seen for his son is
baptizing them.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Boys.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
I can't wait to watch you play because what I'm seeing,
I'm like, oh, this dude, the freshman doing this, and
so I'm excited to watch me. So I already know
how the family feels when that first game rolls around.
Black's gonna be sitting in the stands more nervous than
his son, because there's nothing you can do now.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Man, nothing you can do. Man.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
You just you know, you know, he's well taught. Man,
he understands, he understands the game of football.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
You know, so.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Everything in front of him right now. Man, I think
everybody's just so excited for him in his path, man,
and can't wait to see him go out there on
the football field. Man and Chase his dream, That's what
it's all about.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Well, I know who somebody that the fans, the team,
the front office. I guess they can't wait to see him.
But if they really want to see him, they give
him what he was worth. The commanders they activate Terry
McLaurin off the and that confuses me.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
You activate him off the pup list.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
It makes it like, okay, deal is imminent, but they
say a deal is not considered to be close at all.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
And then you read comments from dan Quinn.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Dan Quinn says, we activated him off the pupp list
because we got to get him ready to go. They
play fast. They're one of the fastest offenses. I'm from
whistle to snap last season, so they got to get
him ready to go. And Tarry McLaurin get me ready
to go. Y'all know how to get me ready to go?
Pay me that money. I'm ready to go. What what

(04:40):
do you make of that? I don't understand it me either.
We didn't have the I guess, the option of being
on a pup like going into the season, So I
really don't understand.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
How.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
You know he's in a contract dispute. He wants DK METC.
They have kind of money. Thirty three million dollars a year.
I think it's sixty million that would it was guaranteed,
whatever the case may be. But I really believe that
it's a way to, I guess, not be fined if

(05:16):
you're on a pup but you're in a contract dispute.
It's like the same thing that Michael's doing. Michael Parson's
down there in Dallas. So I guess if you walk
out on the practice field and you go out and
practice and you say that, okay O, my ankle's heart
or my back's hurt, or whatever the case may be,
so you actually are.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
You have an injury.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
So I don't believe they can find you if you're
not practicing when you're on the pup. Which is a
great segue for the players because they losing like fifty
thousand dollars a day if they're not practicing in a
contract dispute. So I guess it's something that he has

(05:59):
been dealing with since last season, his ankle injury. But
uh yeah, it's it's kind of confusing. They activate him,
but he's still not practicing. He's not going to play
until he gets a contract, So I don't know what
Adam Peters and Josh Harrison and his new regime down
the Washington is going to do. But listen, if Mean

(06:21):
Lauren is not on the football field, he is arguable,
he is the most explosive player that you had having
your offense outside of James Dames. You got to be
able to get him on the football field. I think
he's made it very clear that he's not going to
play without a new contract, but he just doesn't have

(06:42):
that leverage as of Michael Parsons moving forward. So uh,
I hope a deal gets done.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
He's one of the he's one of the uh you know,
one of the great young great young Wires was in
his league. I like him. I want to see him play.
But hopefully Josh Harrison these guys, you know, get them
side and get them a new contract.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Hey, pleax. You know how when you're younger, and I
don't know if you've ever done this. This is a
little kiddie game that I'm about to bring up. But
you look at each other and you say, let's see
who blinks first. So you just you stare at each
other who gonna blink first? That's what this seems like.
This is who's gonna blink first? You got water coming

(07:26):
out your eye because you don't want to blink, and
you're like, oh my god, Mike, the commanders you activate
Terry McLaurin off the pupp list. And to me, it
seems as if Adam Peters, who's the general manager, may
be saying, you're gonna get your butt on this field

(07:48):
to start practicing, or we're gonna start finding you.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
So who's gonna blink first?

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Are the commander's gonna give McLaurin a deal or is
McLaurin gonna get out there and start practicing. And if
you don't, we gonna find you. You're gonna blink first.
And so And to me, you may be setting a
dangerous precedent that you draft a guy. And yes, these coaches,

(08:18):
this front office, none of these guys were here when
Terry McLaurin was drafted. They inherited himself to speak right.
But you draft a guy, you develop them, you give
him a second contract. He plays well, you guys have
a season that not many expected, and now he wants

(08:41):
to be rewarded for that, and you don't reward them.
How is that gonna look moving forward with the players
that you draft, that you develop, that play well. They
see how you've treated Terry McLaurin, and they're wondering, am
I gonna be next? And so are you going to

(09:01):
start to just cause internal conflict with your best players
that are young, that are becoming up for deals. That,
to me is my only concern that now the Commanders
I really believe if Terry McLaurin had been practicing, had
had been ready to go for I don't care what happens.

(09:21):
Now you miss all this time, you not gonna be
as ready as you would be had you practiced. The
Commanders were at worse the third team in the NFC.
I felt like going into this season at worst the
third best team, maybe the best team. Some would say

(09:42):
You'd say the Eagles, You'd say maybe the Rams, Niners, Commanders.
Those four teams, we would probably oh in the Detroit Lions,
but because of the turnover with losing all the coaches,
people are kind of wait and see approach with the Lions.

(10:04):
But they are one of the teams that we really
think can possibly come out the NFC. They were literally
what a fumble away from getting to the Super Bowl exactly.
They were a fumble away from getting to the super Bowl,
and so they got to be careful with the way
they're treating their best player who's been there the longest.

(10:26):
Not saying he's their best player now that I believe
that is Jade Daniels, but the tenure in the respect,
I believe he's been a captain the last halfful of
years that he's been with the Commanders, and so you
got to be careful when you treat a player that's
well respected. Forget what he's doing on the field, he's
well respected in the locker room. They playing the game

(10:49):
of blink and I don't know Adam Peters, but when
you start reading into it, obviously got to start really
with San Francisco under John Lynch Kyle Shanahan. But some
say man like when it comes to negotiations, he ain't
want to be played with. Adam Peters is not wanting

(11:11):
to be played with. So We're gonna see what happens
in this. I'm eager to see this, Like you need this, dude.
I was at the Bengals game plex. I was at
the Bengals game. It was I believe it was a
fourth down call. They cover zero ding they covers. The
Bengals went cover zero defense, all out blitz. Jade Daniels

(11:32):
dropped a perfect throw, but McLaurin had to beat this
guy catch the ball. Tough catch at the corner the
end zone, touchdown. I don't know if anybody else on
that team is doing that, But that game right there,
that they won, that's a loss. Without Terry McLaurin, that's
a loss.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
They don't have a real definitive number one wide receiver
out of McLaurin. Man, Listen, I understand where.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
He's coming from.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
The young man has what five straight thousand yard seasons.
So Josh Harrison all in the in this front office
talking about he's gonna be thirty, he's gonna be turning
thirty one in September, and he wants dk metcal kind
of money. But he's twenty seven. Listen, this man is
one of the most explosive wide receivers in all of football.

(12:20):
If you want Jayden Daniels to continue to make progress
and to be that elite quarterback that everybody thinks he
can be, you need you need Skary Terry out there.
So I don't know what Adam Peters and all these
guys are doing. But I said the two weeks ago.

(12:42):
They I'm telling you, they probably believe that they will
have the same kind of continued success without him. Now,
that is what an elite, great quarterback does. So I
hope that's not the angle that they're taking here, because,
just like you said, scary tary man, he's respected amongst

(13:04):
his teammates in the whole city of DC. But I
just want them to get a deal done because it's
like you said, Adam Peters is a hard guy to
deal with when it comes to these contracts and negotiations
and business. I would hate to not see him, you know,
lay him up on opening day and he's talking about
who's gonna blink first. He's already he already has lost

(13:28):
two hundred grand in four days.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Hey, do you know what his blink is every Sunday?

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Eight hundred and sixty thousand every week that he doesn't
step on the football field. So I don't know if
if I all be the first one to blink. But
when you're talking about eight hundred and sixty thousand dollars
every Sunday for missing a football game, I think I
might have to put my shoes on and going on

(13:55):
out there and get it.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Yeah, this is gonna be interesting. Man.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
September seventh, they played the New York Giants. They're in
their schedule sets up to where they can get off
to a faster I mean, you go, Giants, Packers, Raiders,
Falcons at worse, they should be three and one, two
and two, two and two, worst case scenario, worst case scenario.

Speaker 4 (14:17):
Right, But this is what these teams notice.

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Guys that really take their craft series, Guys players that
really aren't out there running the streets drinking smoking.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Are you not.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Slowing down till you thirty five, thirty six, thirty, like
when you hit thirty? These these dudes tried, These dudes
that never really played football, so they get into coaching,
they get into the front office in the early twenties,
they think they really know what the hell they talking about,
and they don't. I don't care how much football you watched.

(14:54):
I don't care how much football. If you've never really
got out there and had to do it, you know
what it's like when you know, Okay, I'm really busting
my ass. Dudes, ain't slowing down at thirty thirty one, Man,
You're not slowing down if you're really putting the work in.
You don't really start to slow down till you like

(15:14):
thirty five, thirty six, if you really working. But what
happens is they go, oh, he's turning thirty, he's turning thirty.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
I'm in my prime, buddy, but your prime ended it.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Your prime ended at eighteen nineteen because you wasn't worth anything.
So you think my prime going end to thirty? That,
to me is the problem that I have. And there's
some guys that couldn't play, but they can evaluate talent.
This to me is the biggest thing that not many
people talk about is when you're a player and after

(15:47):
they we'll go to break. I know, were going a
little long. When you're a player, a lot of guys,
I'm I'm giving people free game right now, this free game.
You gotta pay for this, but this free game right here,
you trained for the combine. That's really the only time
a lot of guys do speed work. They never do

(16:07):
speed work again. They just get in shape. And so
the following once the season ends, you take about a
two to three week break, maybe a month, You get
back in shape, and then you do it again. Then
you do it again. What guys should do is every
off season you take your little break after the season,

(16:28):
you do combine training. You ain't getting ready for the combine,
You're getting ready for the season. Speed train, speed train
every single year.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
You never lose a step. Free game, y'all. That was
free game.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
If somebody hadn't given it to y'all gave it to you.

and you'll find today's full show posted right after we
get off the air. Cam Wore Tennessee Titans. They played
the Falcons in the first couple series and I believe
cam Wore was only supposed to play a couple series

(20:24):
penalties they couldn't.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Really move the ball.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
I believe it's five to six snaps off the field.
So he goes in. He goes in and plays a
third series. He plays okay, but he was happy to
get more reps, and he got more reps because they
weren't moving the ball and the limited series that he
played in so he got another series.

Speaker 4 (20:47):
But his guys wasn't that he didn't have. The starting
receivers was Calvin Ridley.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Tyler Lockett and then your boy Van Jefferson, who I believe, man,
he's so talented like Fith he's quick, he's fast, he's big,
but in his career he hasn't he hasn't been able
to put it together. He dropped the ball. That was

(21:13):
actually a great throw. And I don't know if he
saw the interview. It was a great throw. Did you
see the interview what cam Wores said? He was like,
I ask him what happened? He said the ball was
a little outside, So Wris, he's a time a dying.
It was a dark straight beaty say that. This is
a true story. He said in the interview. I asked
Van what happened and he said the ball was a

(21:34):
little outside and he said that's my fault.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
I got to put it on his chest next time.
True story. That's what he said.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
It's crazy and I'm with you. I thought that was
a dime. Also, this is fro football.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
If that ball hits you in your hands in stride,
that's a die.

Speaker 4 (21:53):
I don't know what.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Else Jefferson would be expecting from a rookie quarter back,
but the throw that he made over top of the
defense of back twenty thirty yards on the run and
it hit him right in his hands. He talking about
the ball was outside. You're gonna be looking for a
job if you think that ball is not a great throw.

(22:18):
So so yeah, I mean, I think Camp's looking good.
I mean he threw for sixty seven yards or five
for eight. But it's really it's really hard to evaluate,
you know, some of a lot of these younger players
and rookie quarterbacks coming into the league because we really
don't get a full glimpse of them being able to manage.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
A football game.

Speaker 3 (22:41):
So obviously, you know, Campbell had had a great year
in Miami. I said last week that I thought sho
Door was the best quarterback going into the draft, So
we know that whole story. But I'm eager to you know,
to see and to really watch and learn what cam

(23:02):
Wood is all about, you know, going into this new
offense in Tennessee. But from everything that I've seen him
in college, I think he's gonna be a good young
quarterback for a very long time. Calvin Ridley is one
of the top five wide receivers, well maybe not five,
but he's he's an elite talent. He's one of most talented. Yes, yes,

(23:25):
he's a great talent at the position. So everything's looking
up for Tennessee. I don't think anybody's really expecting them
to make a hard push and uh win the divisions.
Especial especially down there with Houston Texans and c J.
Stroud with Demiko what they got going on. I think
they will be the second best team in the division.
But everything's looking up for cam wore Man. I hope

(23:48):
that he can, you know, get into this organization, you know,
and turn this thing around, because you know, like I know,
when Tennessee is winning and they playing football, man a hard.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Venue to go into and get a w.

Speaker 2 (24:04):
Yeah, that cam Ward looked like he gonna be the
real deal. Arm is unbelievable, real good athleticism. When I
saw I saw that I had to rewind it. When
he said, oh he had vance aid the ball was
a little you know, low outside, so I got to
put it on the shets.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
I thought it was a great throw and even if
it's probably what it was about.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
Twenty five yard completion, it would have been twenty five
thirty yards catches it. It makes his stats look better.
It's the preseason. You as a quarterback, you want to
make sure you know what's funny.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
I don't think that I've dropped some footballs in my day,
right and I come back to the huddle and I
would always apologize to the team I'm like a right man,
my bad. I let y'all down. They be like, don't
worry about it, go to the next play. But I
don't think I've ever gotten back to the huddle and
had the quarterback ask me what happened?

Speaker 2 (25:00):
That ball was outside? That wasn't a great throat, you
know what's different? Though, I've never had a quarterbacks like, yo,
what happened? That's just crazy. As a player, I don't
care if it's your fault, if it's not your fault.
To me, as a leader, you always take the blame

(25:22):
like you always take the blame, always, always, always, always
you drop the ball, that's on me. Something go wrong, now,
that's on me. I got you, that's on me. Y'all
that that's on me. You always take the blame. I
teach my son that right now. Like y'all lose a
basketball game, y'all lose the fall game. It's your fault.

(25:45):
Don't blame anybody else. Oh so and so didn't catch
the ball, so and so was turning the ball. It's
your fault. You should have done more. If you would
have done more, or all the mistakes that whoever else
made wouldn't matter. And if you made mistakes. It's really
your fault, and so I think that's important. But cam
Ward is doing what a leader does. That's my fault.

(26:05):
I got to put it on the chests. He's right,
But Van Jefferson, no, you got to catch that ball.
You got to catch that ball. But I like what
I see from cam Ward, I really do.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
Now. It does concern me that he hasn't had.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
The type of game where you say, oh, okay, he's done.
Like obviously Shadeur played a lot, Jackson Dark played a lot,
but those dudes played very well also, and so you
would want to see And we know week one Jackson
are not going to be playing Week one, more than

(26:49):
likely Shader may not be playing. So they're getting extended
playing time because of those situations.

Speaker 4 (26:54):
But man, you just want cam.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Ward to get out there play four or five Seriesel
good about himself going into the regular season because outside
of Calvin Ridley, who does he have where you say, yeah,
they get one on one, he's winning for sure.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
That to me may be the problem is if Calvin
Ridley is taking away, where.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
Does he go?

Speaker 2 (27:22):
And they say this all the time, when when a
quarterback isn't winning and he's not doing well a young quarterback. Oh,
you got to get some help, man. You got to
get these young quarterbacks some help. And then when you
get him help, you forget a couple of years ago
you said he needed help. Cam Ward is gonna need
help early on. And if Calvin Ridley is taken out

(27:43):
of the game or he just is out the game,
who is he going to rely on? Because he gonna
remember that comment that ball was a little outside what
he feels like he gonna have to be. I'm gonna
try to look at I'm gonna look that up. I
can't go to break and I'm gonna send it to you.

(28:04):
Got I gotta find that because when I saw that,
I couldn't believe it. But either I can't believe it either.
His progression. Brian Callahan, that's the head coach of the Titans.
He's gonna have to show some progress this year. They
didn't play well as a.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Tenant as a coach of the league too.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Yeah, his dad is actually one of the better receiver
coaches in the league.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
Because it ain't many.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
Coaches plays played against him played, you know, but that's
that's shocking for you know, him to come out and
say that, and to be an NFL receiver's son to
take the cop out and be like, oh the ball
was outside.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Come on, man, you know than that. You just weirdough
you bringe a great point. Dad is a coach that
Sean Jefferson receiver coach. His dad is a coach, one
of the better receiver coaches in the league. It is
probably a handful of good ones in the league. He's
one in that handful. You would think he would just
take the blame, right and for him to say, why

(29:09):
wouldn't he? And the crazy part was the fact that
cam Ward said that, he said Tomah was a little outside.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
So I don't know.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
I believe cam Ward is gonna have a great career,
but it's gonna get real tricky. Man, if him and
this offense in that team don't show some progress. What
happens with Brian Callahan, we will see. But one thing
we gonna see now, we gotta go check on our guy,
Isaac loncron I low updates what you got for us man.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
Well, thank you, TJ. Let's start with the Washington Commanders,
because today they removed star receiver Terry McLaurin from the
physically unable to perform. List McLaurin and the Commanders still
remain in a contract dispute. Rookie third round pick Dylan
Gabriel expected a started quarterback for the Cleveland Browns today
against the Eagles in Philadelphia. Gabriel did not play on
the Browns preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers. Fellow rookie

(30:02):
Shador Sanders will not play today because of an oblique injury.
That'll be one of five NFL preseason games kicking off
at the top of the hour. And finally, guys, how
about this in college football? Multiple outlets reported today that
the Big Ten Conference is floating an idea to expand
the college football playoff to as many as twenty four

(30:24):
or twenty eight teams, coupled with the elimination of conference
championship games. Again, that idea floated today by the Big
Ten Conference. Back to you, what do you guys think?

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Wow, man, we're gonna go straight into that right now. Bro,
what do the Big team want to do?

Speaker 4 (30:43):
Have a six?

Speaker 2 (30:44):
They want to play NFL season sixteen seventeen game seasons
is the best conference in college football. It may be
the best conference in college football. But they got the
dumbest people. That's talk about a twenty four game college
I mean fourteen we just had on man ship game.
What fifteen ten, fifteen years ago? We didn't have a
championship game when I was, when I was, and you

(31:06):
guys are a great conference, but you guys aren't the
best conference. And I mean, I got to say, you
guys are conference. It's a great conference. It's a great counse.
I'm going to say that. Come on, it's the it's the.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Most competitive conference in college football.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
It isn't going blak. I'm unbiased. You're biased. It isn't Oregon,
I'm Washington. Is there now? It's a great conference. What
you means U c l A.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
It's a great conference. It's a great conference. I mean,
but top to bottom, top to bottom, the SEC is
far better.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
It is not.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
That's just it top to bottom, not not anymore. You
know who's the best team and SEC I'm gonna give you.
I'd say it should jump off the ball immediately. It's
so many coaches, that's why there's so many good ones.

(32:04):
But I'll give you four teams that could be either
one of these four Alabama, Georgia, Texas, l s U
those four, those four right in the Big Texas just
went to the SEC. They during the SEC started Oregon,
Oregon just went to the Big Ten. And they're the
best team in.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
The Big ten organ anyway, so it didn't matter.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
Now, you know, the the Big ten is top heavy,
the Big Ten for years and years and years. It's
just so high safe lives, sometimes sometimes lives. Michigan has
been good the last handful of years because of Harball. Michigan,
Ohio State.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (32:47):
Hey, you know how many times we wanted the Big
Ten when when Mark d Antonio was coaching, coach congratulations
on the Hall of Fame, my coach, uh, I think
we want the Big Big t for four years out
of two. So you can't just say that Michigan and
Ohio State are the most dominant teams.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
By far, by far. Now now you add so now
it's gonna be Michigan. Well, let me Ohio State, Penn State,
Michigan in that order for teams that have been in
the Big Ten, and now Oregon that's the Big Ten.
Everybody else, nobody else stands a chance. It's those teams

(33:33):
and everybody else in that because you get to SEC
you got teams like oh Miss that yeah, very good,
very good South Carolina, very good Auburn like you got
teams in that like the bottom Kickwaks Wow. And I'm

(33:55):
unbiased though, like I don't have a dog in a
fight here. I just feel like the SEC is by
far the best conference in college football. But back to
the Big Ten, like bro a twenty fourteen playoff when
they're gonna start to playoff, Yallo, when he started the
playoff in November, When they started college football playoff in November,

(34:16):
I believe.

Speaker 6 (34:18):
I believe they'll be starting it in July at.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
This race, like twenty four teams, like that's virtually impossible
if I'm not mistaken. Last year Ohio State is a winner.
Did they play fourteen or fifteen games? They played one
of those two. That's a lot of games. It's basically
an NFL season because when we're playing plays, you know,

(34:41):
it's ten eleven, twelve games max.

Speaker 4 (34:44):
Now they're playing weeks fourteen, fifteen.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
Now you get to a twenty fourteen college football playoff
twenty teen, that's an extra game maybe two. And so
it's setting a precedent, and I guess they're looking at
they getting paid.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Now, that's crazy. So we're gonna We're gonna run them
into the ground.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
I don't know what's going on, and I don't know
who's the commissioner, but the commissioner listens to the presidents
of the schools. I would believe correct where they I
don't know how they wanna do it. It's import I
think it's improblem. It's good though, because you know, we
were always student athletes. Remember we're always the student comes

(35:29):
first in the athletes. Second is student athletes. Now they
starting to realize they're athletes that are students.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Sometimes a lot of money put them on television. They're
paying the athletes. Now we gotta make get more revenue. Man,
it's gonna be that.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
That's gonna be interesting to see how the n c
A A And then real quick, before we go to
break the NCAA, find uh, Michigan twenty million, suspend Sharon Moore,
a couple extras, whatever that means. But if I'm if
I'm Michigan, I'm not paying that twenty million nca Who
are you guys? You guys like, what are you guys

(36:08):
that that that's a whole other thing. We'll get to
that when we get back. We gotta take a break.
That's Plexico Barriss. I'm TJ. Houshims outa up on Game.
Fox Sports Radio. Will be right back. Welcome back in
up on Game.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
I'm t J.

Speaker 2 (36:22):
Hu Shim's outa. That's Plexico Barris. First hours winding down.
But hey, this Bill this that Billy Oshan? Huh that
that Billy Oshan? This exactly okay, just making sure I
still know my music. Just making sure. Yeah that was

(36:43):
off the cuff. Billy Oshan a lot older than me,
but yeah, my mama used to probably play this. That's
how I noticed. Yeah, when it's when it's come out,
when that song comeing as we talking, somebody give me
that information please.

Speaker 4 (36:57):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
Winding down, as the first hour comes to an end, Man,
Travis Hunter played ten snaps ten, one thing different fight
ten and he may not play versus the Saints.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (37:11):
Are they just being cautious or is this showing signs
of I don't know if this two way thing is
gonna be viable.

Speaker 5 (37:22):
Man.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
It's what they're doing with every other rookie or high
draft pick that comes into the league. They're just not
getting a lot of reps in the preseason. It seems
like everybody's goal from when we were playing, well, you know,
we would go out, play up, play ten plays first game,

(37:45):
first quarter, you know, first, come out of the halftime,
and play the third quarter during the third game. But
teams not doing that anymore. They are the number one
goal is to get into the season healthy. So we
won't get a real you know look or be able

(38:06):
to evaluate none of these young guys because I mean,
you can't evaluate Travis Hunter on what ten plays and
campboard and all of these young guys coming in. We
just have to wait until the season starts so we
can get a real good look at him, so we
can have a you know, a definitive mindset of what

(38:30):
these kids are and what they will be moving forward.
But ten plays, I think they're just you know, resting
them and not really getting them a lot of reps.
Just they they want them to get into the season healthy.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
To me, when you're a young player, obviously we know
he's gonna play drafted extremely high. I don't know if
I'm not playing you in a second preseason game unless
you're really hurt. Number one, the side of the ball
that I feel like you need more work. That's why

(39:07):
I'm gonna play you. You don't have to play in
the preseason offense and defense, all right, this game, we're
gonna go heavy offense. This game, we're gonna go heavy defense.
The last game we may do a little bit of boff,
some of that nature.

Speaker 4 (39:25):
But to not play.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
At all, and he's doing he's gonna try, not even try.
He's gonna do something that's really unprecedented, or we believe
will be unprecedented. We've never seen a player play heavy

(39:47):
offensive snaps in heavy defensive. We've never seen it. Because
of if you're that good of a player, they know
it's gonna wear you down. They want to keep you
on the field, whether it's offense or defense, one of
them for a long period of time. I just don't know.
If he's hurt, they're gonna have to really reconsider. Do

(40:09):
you play ten players, did you come that the game
bang you up? Or did you get banged up practice?
I don't think he's hurt, though, then why would you
not There there's one side of the ball that he
may need a little more work, whether it's offense or defense.

Speaker 4 (40:23):
Just let them side of the ball is that. I
don't know I don't know that they know that. The coach,
we haven't. We haven't seen them.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
Yeah, I mean, obviously he has a slight frame, but
that that's not gonna matter. But if I'm if I'm
Travis under buddy, I'm playing offense, I'm playing offense. Why
would you say that? Because the receivers make more than
the dbs right now, That's why.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
He got He's he's a better defender than he is
a wide receiver.

Speaker 4 (40:54):
Man, he is.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
I believe when he's playing corner from a natural ability standpoint,
he shows you how gifted and how athletic he is.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
When he plays corner, he has great he does.

Speaker 3 (41:11):
He does yes when you're kind of playing and you know,
kind of shackles a little bit and you know, not
really really being able to do the things that you
can do. But I think when he plays corner, I
really believe that he can, you know, go out there,
play bump and run and he and he can take
your best wide receiver out of the football game.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
He has great instincts as a defensive player, but what
he has is an offensive player, just an uncanny ability
to go get the ball. He just makes plays where
you're like, well, he caught that. This will be interesting
to see how this plays out, but I'm playing where
they are paying the most money. First hour has come
to an end. That's plastical, Burrs.

Speaker 4 (41:54):
I'm t J. Schmis Ota up on game Fox Sports Radio.
Will be right back
