We're gonna bring in cuffs a legend and well we'll
call it.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
About twenty minutes nineteen minutes, so make sure you stay
locked in for that. We're gonna be talking basketball. But TJ,
you know an hour or two. Let's talk about the
Vanderbilt QB dealing. I want to say, Pavia is his
name suing the NCAA over eligibility.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Now are you up on this and what the whole
scenario is?
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yeah, you know, I read a lot. Man.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
I saw it just because he went to junior college,
and he's basically saying, guys go to prep schools and
things of that nature. It's not held against some, but
when you go to junior college, those years are counted
against you. So he feels he should get those years
back if I'm not mistaken.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Is that all right?
Speaker 4 (01:58):
I think that's how I kind of I feel like
boa is that accurate? I feel like that's accurate.
Speaker 6 (02:04):
Yeah, that's what it is.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, I thought, do you feel you feel like that? Sense?
Speaker 4 (02:09):
I feel like I feel like with all these hold
backs and all these different things that's going on. I mean,
you got cats going into to college at age twenty one,
and they did a legitimate bid as a high school person.
It wasn't like they were dumb or with felling or
anything like that. They just get kept getting reclassified. And
you got these grown ass men playing against kids in
(02:30):
high school and becoming five star athletes going to college
getting tore out the frame because they never really had
to develop. They were just better athletes than everybody because
they was older than everybody.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
But so, should you hold it.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
Against a Juco guy or you know, a guy that
goes to like a school like that that you know
isn't quite you know, like one of the majors.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
Should that be held against them?
Speaker 5 (02:53):
The more I think about it, man, it does make
sense that a god can go to a prep school.
It's not held against them. A guy can be twenty
six years old and still play college football, you know.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
So I you know, and I'm and I'm a junior
college baby. Y I went to JUCO And and so
for a lot of.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Guys that played in Juco, depending on the level that
you played at, they weren't ready to make an impact
at a university, and when they were ready, it was over.
And and so I I get where he's coming from.
I truly do certain Jucos prepare you and others don't.
(03:39):
Its just like being in high school all over again,
and you're at the point where midway through your senior
year you're ready to go, but the coaches ain't gonna
give you an opportunity. They gonna get these young boys
ready to play because they have two three years remaining
with these young boys. If this rule was to be changed,
(04:00):
thing number one, you probably see more guys graduate because
they'd have more time. You see better playing college football
because not only would they have more time, they'd be
more mature.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
And so I'm actually not against it.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
Now some schools may not like it because now guys
would be on scholarship longer.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
But it's very interesting and I'm not opposed to it
at all.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Well, I look at it like this, if a guys
getting development out of JUCO because they weren't able to
get good grades somewhere else, or they needed a little
bit more time to be able to accomplish what they
needed to accomplish TJ in some ways, shape or form,
I feel like it should not be held against them
coming from a jucode. I really do think that it
(04:46):
should be looked at almost as if it's a prep
or an academy something to that effect.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
Process.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
It isn't quite the level of major college sports, so
I don't feel like their clock should start. I know,
for me, so he switched, you know, and I mean,
you want to talk about some extraordinary circumstances. My son
portnant with me for seven Bro, he's not with me
for seven eight years. The dude that did what he
(05:14):
did and had my son with his mom, they had
him playing basketball.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
He finds his way back to me.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
We find and rebuild our relationship, repair our relationship, and
he switches the football. He switches the football while he's
in college and goes to Lakawana Junior College.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
I just I And when I looked at it, I
was like, man, he's on the clock. But should he
really be on the clock?
Speaker 4 (05:39):
Should he'd have to lead Lackawana and only have two
years left because he spent two years time developing at
the juco.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Level, just learning the game before he went to D one, just.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Learning the game of football, just learning the game of football,
you know.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
So to me, I feel like there are.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
Some extreme circumstances that would actually call for looking at
a situation like this with you know, I guess a
more focused eye on what the needs of the athlete
and the person is versus it just being this black
on white rule that says you know your your clock
(06:20):
has started.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
I just, you know, I feel like there should be
something to be said.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Hey, for so long, LeVar, we just kind of go
with the flow.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
Oh you get X amount of years to play this,
you get like because rules are said, nobody ever really
challenges them, Like who sets these rules?
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Who makes these who says this is right?
Speaker 5 (06:42):
Like, I mean, you know, I can go on to
so many Why is the work hour work week forty hours?
Why who made it that way?
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Why?
Speaker 5 (06:51):
Why is the weekend on the Friday ends, I mean
Saturday and Sunday. Why isn't it Friday, Saturday and Sunday?
Like who sets all these parameters in these quote unquote
rules that we've abided by. And maybe things need to
be looked at differently. And for sure, when you go
to junior college, it is not the same level as
(07:13):
a regular college. It is not the same commitment, schooling, tutoring,
football and athletic wise, whether it's basketball, whatever it is.
Because I did that, I went down that path.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
And I know.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
When you're in junior college a lot of times if
you don't get financiating, you don't have parents that can
afford to pay, like you better go to a junior
college in the area where you're from.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Us.
Speaker 5 (07:39):
You can't even afford it because you can't. You're on
your own, you can't pay rent, You're not getting scholarship
and they not paying. So it's just you may have
to work a job to pay your rent, do certain
things just to make ends meet.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
You know. I remember being in junior college.
Speaker 5 (07:55):
Man find cases the top rom and putting them under
my bed because I ain't want.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
My roommates take at my last tag top rocking, you know.
So it's so many circumstances that you go through.
Speaker 5 (08:08):
I'm actually happy that he is fighting this because he
really has a point. As I read the story and
I'm like, wow, I go back to my experience and
some of my buddies and my homeboys experience. Had they
been given more time, maybe things turn out differently.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Right.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
If it's truly about development, then make it truly about development.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
A junior college is not about going to the next level,
is it.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
I don't think now one person would confuse what you
go to do out of junior college is the same
thing you go to do out of.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
Power for or a major on top of that, or
a mid major.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
You're not going to a juco for that. It is
purely for you to try to get yourself back on track.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
If you're in a JUCO.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
Look that is, if we're in a JUCO, honestly, it's
pure development because we were not ready, were not as
ready as the guys that are going to the power
for schools.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Now we're not as ready and so.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Living or another right for one reason or another.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
It might be maturity, it might be skill development, it
could be any given thing that's on that list of
things you.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Need to work on before you're able to have that opportunity.
Speaker 4 (09:23):
But nonetheless, I think everybody knows that jucos are a
place where you go to try to find yourself.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
You know, you might have started off big and it
didn't work out for one reason or another.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Jucos give you an opportunity to kind of like regroup, reset, reevaluate,
and do what it is that you need to do
to develop what it is that's going to get you
back to that opportunity that you started with. There's so
many different reasons why I just don't think that a
JUCO your time out of JUCO. I just don't think
it should take away from your time. Like if you
(09:56):
go serving the military, you still have you know, years
of eligibility.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
There's certain things. If you go off and you do
the you.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Go on on a mission, you got a mission.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
You still have your eligibility.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
So to me, I just feel like if you're going
to a JUCO, you're you're you're improving yourself, You're you're
taking classes, you're moving towards getting a degree. I don't
feel like that should be taken lightly. And I don't
feel like that's something that they should take away your
your eligibility because you're playing football out of JUCO. It
doesn't matter enough. I mean, if we're being honest, in
the grand scheme of things, JUCO football does not matter
(10:30):
in the grand scheme of what's taking place in college
football as a whole. So why would you take the
kid's eligibility away from him if he's trying to get
himself together and get himself right to be.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Able to play out another school? Like what if the kid?
What if the kid?
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Because my kid played a year a year before Covid
played right as Covid was hitting, so he used up
eligibility playing basketball. He goes to JUCO to develop, and
he uses two more years of eligibility learning how to
play the game.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
I just don't know if I feel like that's a
fair shake at it.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
If you're changing, you know, changing a sport, whatever it
may be, you're changing, but yet you've lost eligibility based
off of being out at ju though.
Speaker 7 (11:18):
Just my take on it.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
I'm glad he's challenging this though.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
I I I'm actually glad that somebody looked into it,
really read the language and realize, man, s what this
ain't right. Man, this isn't right, and he's challenging it.
And so, uh, I'm happy for that. The quarterback at Vanderbilt.
Vanderbilt is uh having a remarkable season and.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
And so he's TCHR.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
He's changing it and turn around their season. So hopefully
he can change and turn around these rules that are
uh archaic.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
Well you know if you got the name of Ed
O'Bannon thought to do it a while back, and look.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
At where we're at now with nil.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
So we'll see how it all plays out. On the
other side of this break, we got the man to myth,
the legend himself coming on. It's gonna be our man
cuffs the legend from some Duke show coming on Talk Basketball.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
In a matter of moments. This is up on games.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
TJ Huitchman's outa Plexico is off today. It's me LeVar Arrington.
We're gonna carry you for the rest of this hour.
All right, take a quick break. Cuffs will be on
the other side. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

Speaker 3 (12:34):
All right, welcome back into the show. This is up
on game. We are live into tyreck dot com studios.
It's TJ.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Hitchman's out on LeVar Irington Plexico birth is off.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
But you know what, don't worry about it if we're
gonna handle it.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
And speaking of handling it, let's get an update from
our guy, Isaac lohinfrom before we bring on the legend
himself after the himself with doing our legendary update.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
What you got I lowed right?
Speaker 8 (13:04):
You are as always LeVar number two, Ohio State out
to a fourteen to nothing lead right now over perdue
one fifty two left in the second quarter. Here was
how they score their second touchdown.
Speaker 9 (13:15):
Howard pivots to his right looking to throw, looking tosses
attack left side, caught by g Scott at the tent
and he's gonna walk right into the end zone. G
Scott for a touchdown fifteen yards. Will Howard to g
Scott his second TD catch of the year at Ohio
State ahead at thirteen other.
Speaker 8 (13:30):
Extra point was good. Paul Keels with the call right there.
Georgia tech of fourteen to ten over fourth rank Miami.
They have three twenty two and counting left in the
second quarter there number five Texas out to a twenty
one to nothing lead over Florida.
Speaker 9 (13:48):
First down play action and instead of a screen dot
to upside, here's why he's forty five forty great spree
don of a third tell.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
The funny, so good night with US one title WI scouts.
Speaker 8 (13:59):
Down Craig Way with a call. That was Quinn Eewer's
third touchdown pass. He's completed twelve of eighteen for one
hundred and seventy seventy yards of the NFL. Miami Dolphins
head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters today that Tyreek Hill
is dealing with a wrist injury. McDaniel said the injury
is heating up and they want to let it cool down.
That Hill's doing everything possible to try and play on
(14:21):
Monday Night football against the Rams, and they'll see how
the injury responds. The New York Jets ruled that defensive
lineman Solomon Thomas for Sunday's game against Arizona due to
a knee injury. Finally, sad news from the NBA. Former
longtime Portland Trailblazers announcer Brian Wheeler passed away on Friday
at the age of sixty two. Wheeler spent twenty one
(14:43):
seasons as the Blazers radio voice from nineteen ninety eight
to twenty nineteen. Let's listen back to the way it
was in Game six of the twenty fourteen playoffs against
the Houston Rockets, with Wheeler at the mic. For this
fantastic Damian Lillard finish, Howard.
Speaker 10 (14:59):
Is depending on all Bridge, so in case the Blazers
go for a two to their best player, Howard is Defendinggan,
but two throws the lover a three for the game.
You gotta pinch me.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
I must be dreaming pitching food.
Speaker 10 (15:24):
In an absolutely incredible first round playoff series that ends
in the most dramatically possible Damian Lellard takes an nbounds
pass from Nikola.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
A town and nails a three pointer.
Speaker 10 (15:37):
There was absolutely no doubt and for the first time
in fourteen years, the Blazers have won a playoff series
and they couldn't have done it in a more brilliant fashioned.
Speaker 8 (15:48):
One of the great voices of the NBA, Brian Wheeler,
positively beloved in Portland, Oregon.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Leave art, let's go back to you.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
Appreciate that Allo, enjoy your day and yeah it sounds
pretty good and shouts out to him and their family.
Speaker 2 (16:03):
Uh, what a great career he had.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
So uh, speaking of basketball, let's keep the thing consistent.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
Let's go to our guy. Here we go, It's time
to check in with Cuffs.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
The legend from some dude show podcast on Up on
Game Presents, Cuffs is giving you a spicy takes on
what's going down.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
You can take the heat like Lebron.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Enough, here's Cuffs. The legend.
Speaker 2 (16:30):
It's cold time.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
All right where you when you hear that image and
you know what's coming up next? I got Cuffs is
in the building. You've been man, I mean, you know,
it's it's basketball season. There's a lot of basketball.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
Going on there.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
They're NBA in it, They're they're doing the.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
College football thing there they're fighting on private jets. You know,
there's all kinds of things going on in the basketball world. Man,
who better to talk about it?
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Then? I got cuss the legend?
Speaker 8 (17:01):
Man?
Speaker 7 (17:01):
What no, how you been? Man?
Speaker 3 (17:02):
What you got going on?
Speaker 7 (17:04):
The bar? DJ?
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Man?
Speaker 7 (17:05):
Feel good man, I'm happy to be back on the
show man. I feel like MJ. Remember MJ when he
came back with the with the forty five and what
he do look when he look he snatched Pete Myers,
bought and came back to Pete Myers got to sit down.
MJ is back. I feel good to be back on
the show man. How y'all doing that?
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Nice?
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Man? Cuss? What's going on? Man? How you being?
Speaker 7 (17:28):
Well? I'm good man. It's a lot of storylines growing, man, TJ.
We only like eight to nine in games in ten
percent of the season into the NBA team is so
far bro And I gotta say this. I know this
fifteen right here is not getting a lot of national pubs,
national media attention. But I think that Cleveland Cavaliers might
be for.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Real, y'all cuffs. That was gonna be my first question.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
That was gonna be the way they dismantled the Golden
State Warriors last night.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
I said, Wow, so.
Speaker 7 (18:02):
I can keep it viting? Can I keep it fighty
man be Live National Radio. I love Steph Curry. He
from my home state. We saw what he did in
the Olympics. Man, he pretty much saved the gold medal
for us. But Steph is getting up during age Man.
A lot of people focus on Lebron being year twenty two,
Bron family Man Bron, he almost forty, but Steph is
like thirty six now and I don't think Steph is
(18:25):
quite the same star superstar player that can carry a
team anymore. But like the Cavs, Man, I mean, Keen
and Oh looks like the first Keen and O team
in a long time. We only had like maybe fifteen
teams all time, be like start out ten and Oh.
But I think the keys to the Calves DJ is
Kinny Adkinson has unlocked Darius Galling at Evan Motley.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
Man.
Speaker 5 (18:50):
I watched that game and I said, the Calves may
be the most underrated team. I guarantee their seven and eight,
no not air, they gonna come back down the earth
and then number one first half they put on a
crazy display. I think they made fourteen threes in the
first half. They're up by fifty points against a Warrior
(19:15):
team that had only one loss, and so what is it?
Speaker 2 (19:19):
But it sounded like you said.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
It sounded like Cuffs is saying that the Warriors is
some trash versus the Warriors being as good.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
As they are.
Speaker 7 (19:28):
To me, the Warriors are good. Though they went into
Boston the other night, got a huge win on the road,
even though Boston didn't have paid them in force. I mean,
they didn't have Jaylen Brown Ooper singing in the lineup,
but that was a big win for the Warriors. I
don't think the Warriors are watched. I think they have
a small window to get into the play end this year.
But it's gonna be hard for Steph to carry those guys. Man.
(19:49):
But like because older, he can't create that separation like
he used to.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
They're playing really good defense.
Speaker 7 (19:55):
Defense.
Speaker 5 (19:56):
Let me let me ask you this because I'm surprised
at how bad the Milwaukee Bucks are.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Oh man, what is going on in Milwaukee.
Speaker 7 (20:07):
I'm gonna tell you what's going on? Man. I posted
this picture when I was watching a Bucks game about
a week ago into the season, right, and I call
these guys. I gotta keep it real, man. When I
saw a picture of Darren Ham, the assistant coach of
the Bucks, beside Doc Rivers, it's nothing burg, it's nothing personal.
(20:28):
But when I saw those two guys on the bench, man,
it's reminded me of the movie Dumb and Dumber. That's
the nickname I have. Like you gotta look at it, man,
Like the Bucks have started. The Milwaukee Bucks have fallen
to two and seven. And my real honest take on
it is, I think Doc Rivers he gets washed as
(20:50):
a coach. The game has passed him. Mind. He's one
of those old dinosaur coaches. He's still milking that two
thousand and eight championship ringing Boston. And I don't think
he wanted to get back in the coaching necessarily. He
was real comfortable in the in the broadcast move we
saw him on doing the live broadcast the last couple
of years national TV games. I think Doc knew that
he can steal a bag. He can he can steal
(21:12):
a check, couple checks, you know, getting back into coaching
real quick. But I think you're gonna pass the towards
to Starvenham. I think the Bucks gotta make us change man.
They got to shake something up because we've seen the
rumors about them trying to get you know, acquire somebody
a three unique guy or pross with somebody in the trade.
But nobody wants to trade with Milwaukee right now. So
I think Jannis is gonna busy ass out. We might
(21:32):
see Jannison Golden.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
State, y'all, but who does Who does Golden State have
to give up with? What would it be kaminga Moody?
Speaker 7 (21:40):
Everybody is the entire the entire roster, the team, chaplain,
you give away everything everything if you can get Yiannis,
if you're Golden State right now, Draymond included, you could
pack Draymond up, Amazon Bron him you can, you can,
you can trade off the pick you want. But like,
imagine Step not having to carry the loads like I
(22:01):
was saying, imagine jan Is being at one A and
Step sliding over to being one B and one A
on certain nights, like you see what the family man
Lebron doing right now with a D d J. You
see how Lebron sliding over family man triple double last night?
Lebron can coast right now, what y'all do? Go ahead?
What are y'all say Jannis wants to be able to
(22:23):
coach the same way with step I think those guys
would work together.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
What do you make of the Lakers started off really hot,
we started threing, though, can't win the game on the road.
JJ Reddick kind of got tired of I'm acting like
I'm playing defense, but I'm really not playing defense with
D'Angelo Russell, what do you make of what's transpired early
in the season.
Speaker 7 (22:47):
Well, I gotta keep it real, man. You know a
lot of these NBA players are emotional. I know some
of these guys in real life. Ninety percent of them
are cool, man. They know a lot of this stuff
is this joke. As fans, even though we're in the
media space, we're still all fans. Some of these guys
got ten skin and I feel like with D'Angelo Russell,
he had tin skin, man, to the point where from
(23:09):
game to game, you don't know which D'Angelo Russell is
gonna show up from game to game. Right, Like, one game,
like last night, you played fairly well. I think he
had eight teams, came off the bench, and it's like,
I love what JJ is doing because he's doing what
Darbenham didn't do and he's holding guys accountable early, like
immediately into his tenure. And that's what I really like
about JJ. But I think we're gonna see We're gonna
(23:31):
see a nice trade package TJ very soon. We got
a nice bundle. We're gonna put d Lo in that bundle.
You're gonna put game. Ronnie James is untouchable. The boy.
(23:53):
You know, he's untouchable.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Dang, talk about it. How's that gone so far? What's
your take on it?
Speaker 7 (24:01):
I think, I mean, he don't look my thing with
Brownie Man, he's a developmental prospect. So he's only nineteen,
soon to be twenty years old. I think he just
turned twenty like he has. He has the skill set,
and he understands he's not gonna be a star player
in this league. So he's trying to find his Knie
and I think he will. And they're looking at the
big picture, long term development with Lebron, with Brownie Junior.
(24:22):
So I don't think everybody just I mean, I know
he gets a lot of tendon. The microscope is on
on his Lebron's son. I get it. But it's a
lot of people rooting for the kid to fail, and
I just don't as a media person and knowing the
family in real life, Like I don't like that energy. Man,
Like if it was if it was something, if it's
if your man and son goes to the NFL or
(24:43):
if he gets his to get a job in the NFL,
nobody would have a problem with it. But like you
know what I'm saying, So it's if people pick and choose.
I feel like a lot of a lot of the
target that's on Bronnie's back is because people just don't
like bron for whatever reason. Like they might be a
a Jordan fan, know whoever their favorite player was, they
might not like bron and they fan shot to Brownie.
(25:04):
But I think he's gonna he got a chance to
really develop and be like more of a Eric Lettow
type player in the league, that type of guy, small guard,
bulldog on defense. And I think it's three balls on
the team to develop and he got got he got
a chance. Man, I think he does.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
No, No, go ahead, Lord, you got it, Cause you
got it. You got it.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
I was I was just gonna say, speaking of youth movement,
and he has a chance.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
You were on your social not too long ago cups,
going real crazy, like sounding real bubbly about some Charlotte
is back and and we're.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
Back, baby, and we got what we need, we have
what we want to have. And this is all this
whole other trash talk he was given. Are you still
bullish on on Charlotte?
Speaker 7 (25:49):
I was really being kind of like fastigious, like I think.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
No Horner, Okay, okay.
Speaker 7 (25:54):
Yeah, no Horner. I'm from North Carolina, so born and
raised here is always it's always dry spells where the
horners are pretty much they're never really good. So there's
excitement in the state of North Carolina because LaMelo ball
because of Brandon Miller. And I just loved that duo,
Like he just saw them the last couple of games,
Like LaMelo is a triple double threat every night, and
(26:15):
Brandon Miller, like long as he can stay healthy, he's
looking like a baby Paul George. So I really like
the dynamic that they have. Grant Williams is playing great
for them, they like one or two pieces away. But
their new head coach, Charles Lee. Charles Lee came over
from Boston. He was their top assistant. Charles Lee has
really he's starting to integrate his own vibe and culture
(26:38):
with with the new coach, he's bringing that Celtics championship
coature over to Charlotte and you can see it paying
off dividends for LaMelo right now. Because LaMelo is a young,
immature player at times, but you've seen him this year.
It's shot. The election is better and I'm excited to
be honest, like I will go to more Horners games
this year.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
Going into the season, who did you expect to be
playing good basketball? And they're looking like not only are
they in a slump, but they may not recover.
Speaker 7 (27:12):
I would say the New York Knicks right now, I
don't know what they are and I think they don't
know where they are either. As far as chemistry, that's
gonna take time, trying to integrate Quarantine downs, Michel Bridges
a new piece. Even though those guys played in college
Villanova guys Michelle and Brunton and Josh Art, they're still
missing Mitchell Robinson inside. They traded away Isaiah Hartenstein to
(27:34):
ok See. So the Knicks man they looking right now?
They third in their East, which is not bad because
the season just started. But I thought the Knicks would
really come out blazing, like the Cavs and Celtics are
in the East, but I would say out west, the
Dallas Favery kind of sat taking the keen at the
podium last night. He was miss saw. Like, yeah, Kyrie
(27:55):
and Lucar are having to carry a lot of the
load right now, So I think that's a differ point
thought for the Mask. But I think the Sacramento King's
gonna wake up soon, like once they really get their
chemistry together with Damorrow and they're they're in fox still message.
But the West is wide open, man, Like Westbrook is
playing great. Everybody said Westbrooks.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
Watching Javis Westbrook falling.
Speaker 7 (28:18):
He's falling right now, and it's like he's proven that.
Like Yo, I'm a top seventy five all time NBA
player for a reasons. And I'm loving what I'm saying
for Russ out there with Yokish. But like I say,
it's wide open. Kevin Durant, man, nobody's talking about KD
but he got new shit that top to West right now,
they eight and one's looking real good.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
What about Joab?
Speaker 4 (28:37):
What about John Murran? How do you feel about him
being back and what he's got going on for you?
Speaker 7 (28:41):
Still are Gris I'm a huge job Moran supporter, Like
outside of all the jokes and stuff, as somebody who's
been around grassros basketball and coach and train and develop
kids like DJ can speak on that. You want to
see the kids from the inner city, the kids that's
from the mud, the kids that have like like low odds,
(29:02):
you know, to get out of their hometown. You want
to see him making So I don't want to see
Jackets anymore off the boor stuff because I feel like
on that hardwood, that basketball court man as we saw
the other night, with that like acrobatic layups and lay up,
he gave him a three six kids crazy left hand.
I don't even know what you call that layup he is,
but like John Morant man, he is boxed off. And
(29:23):
I think the NBA is kind of backing off the
marketing plan right now because they're waiting to see it. Honestly,
I think the NBA Loki had job on like a
probation period. But if if he can stay clean man
and stay out of trouble, the NBA should really push
his kids just as much as Luca, just as much
as Johnny's because he is he could be these kids.
(29:44):
Alan Irison. I think he can be the Alan Iris
and Dereck Rose, young Jarrick Rose, the young Allen Iverson.
He can be that for these kids.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
I think, man, could this be the year?
Speaker 5 (29:55):
I think Kevin Durant is one of the most un
to appreciated superstars we've ever seen, one of the best
players I ever seen play the game of basketball.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Scores would ease. We all know that.
Speaker 5 (30:09):
Could this be the year that the Phoenix Suns gets
over the hump and KD is leading them? Because much
is made about his lack of leadership, which I disagree on.
Everybody leads in different ways. Could this be the year
where Kevin Durant kind of turns it on and takes
the Phoenix Suns to where they want to go?
Speaker 7 (30:30):
It would be It would be a beautiful storybook getting
I think as he's getting towards getting his career, just
like Ron, just like step I think what's happening right
now with Kevin and Devin Booker as a tandem even
though Brady Bill in there, but they have so much
facing now that you can't double these guys, send those
hard traps now, you can't lead these guys open. You
(30:52):
know you can't more the double booker or KD can't.
You can't double bill. So these guys have so much
more freedom and airspace the rockout and for Kevin Durant
to be like, you know, he got this streetball game.
So he loving his face, He's loving his freedom. And
I think for the Phoenix touns to really be a
championship attender. I love what Nurkic is doing, like Big Nurkus.
(31:14):
He's killing on the glass right now. He's averaging posted
like a double double right now for Phoenix. But when
the playoffs come, we all know in the pick and
roll Nurkis cannot move the pluffies man, he cannot defend
the pick and roll. So I think Penis is gonna
have to go out and get another big. They're missing
like another big, And if you look at recrospect now,
(31:37):
DeAndre Ayton would be the perfect fit for the way
they play right now. Oh wow, it didn't work with
money Williams. I think it was more of a personality
clash with them two is poses players type dynamic. But
would I think the Phoenix cun that you ask them
privately their ownership, they probably would take DeAndre Aydens right now,
putting him in there. He's an automatic double double when
(31:57):
you're playing.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Interesting and they pretty much they ran him off.
Speaker 7 (32:03):
They ran him off yet. I don't know. We will see,
but I like Phoenix though. They eight and one right now,
number one in the way, so it's a gaunt layer
every night. Man. I want to think, what, okay, you
gonna do? They kitting right there at eight and one
as well.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Yeah, I want to see what they're the man. I
want to see what Houston does too. I want to
see what Houston does. So all right, well listen, that's
Cups the legend. We all know who he is. Check
him out, some dude show.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
He is the man.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
He's been getting some big ass uh you know, guts
on there with him talking trash about what's going on.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Man, keep doing what you're doing.
Speaker 4 (32:38):
Man, We're gonna circle up with you, gonna bring you
back in. We're gonna talk more basketball, man. So I
appreciate you talking. Appreciate right, yes, sir, sounds good. All right, man,
that's cuts of legends. We're gonna take a quick break.
On the other side, we're gonna wrap the show. We're gonna,
you know, do some up on Game down on Game
where I be dominating t J Lichmonzada.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
On the picks that you've been making for our weekly game.
Speaker 3 (33:01):

Speaker 2 (33:27):
But that's all right.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
Listen if you missed anything from.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
Today's show, the podcast will be going up shortly after
the show, So just search up on game wherever it

all that good stuff that you know that you want

the real sports talk radio with me and TJ. You
(33:52):
know what I mean, You know how that all works.
But give him a shout out for us when you
listen to them. All Right, bo, what we got let's do.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
It nine for some picks. Are you up on gamey
let's crack this up.
Speaker 7 (34:07):
Let's crack it up.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
Down on game.
Speaker 6 (34:11):
That is right, it's up on game, down Game. I'm
going to give our friends lawn TJ here some games
to pick for tomorrow, all of these odds courtesy of
our friends over at Draft Kings today. We're going to
start off here with the Denver Broncos heading New Kansas
City to take on Mahomes and the Chiefs. Chiefs a
seven and a half point favorite in this one. The
total currently said it forty two, so they are I'm
(34:33):
going to start with you.
Speaker 4 (34:34):
Here, forty two.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
I'm gonna tell you the under on the points, and
I'm going to take the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Man. You know what's Kriklake.
Speaker 5 (34:46):
It's obvious that you should take the Chiefs' ricky quarterback
bow Nick's divisional game.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
But the Chiefs they win, but they never seem to cover.
I don't know why.
Speaker 5 (35:00):
Right, So I'm gonna go with the Broncos, even though
I should be taking the Chiefs and now actually forty
two points, I'll go over. I'm gonna go complete opposite
of levard. I'm gonna take the I'll take the Broncos
and I'll go.
Speaker 7 (35:13):
Over perfect, all right, Wow.
Speaker 6 (35:15):
Next up here, we have the Pittsburgh Steelers heading to
Washington to take on the resurgent Commanders. Washington a two
and a half point favorite in this one at home,
the total at forty five.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Man, this is a tough game. Forty five. This is
a distance, tough game to choose from, is it not always?
Speaker 4 (35:34):
I think the Steelers are gonna win, and I took
them at the money line that what's what's.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
The point Steelers are getting two and a half.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
Yeah, no, I's money lined. Yeah, what's the totals forty five?
Speaker 4 (35:50):
I'm taking the under on that one. I'm taking the
under on that and again I'm taking the They're not
going to beat them by more than a few points,
So I'm gona point going this one.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Yeah. Like I said, this is a tough game, man.
Speaker 5 (36:06):
The Steelers are coming off of Bob Mike Thomlin, off
of Bob versus another ricky quarterback. I'm torn on this, man,
because I like the Commanders. I like Jay Daniels. The
Steelers playing a ton of zone defense, jayde Daniels's money
versus own defense. But something tells me, man, this pass
(36:27):
rush is gonna be a bit too much for the Commander.
So I'll take the Steelers and I'll go over, all right.
Speaker 6 (36:35):
Next up here, the Philadelphia Eagles head to Dallas take
on the dak Prescott loss Cowboys. Philly a seven point
road favorite in this one, which is terrifying. The total
currently said at forty three and a half in this one.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
I don't know why I'm doing this.
Speaker 5 (36:51):
I don't know why I'm doing this because last week
the Eagles chomped out on the Jaguars, and the Jacksonville
Jaguars come back and cover even though the Eagles won.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
But I'm gonna take the Eagles.
Speaker 5 (37:03):
The Cowboys are in this flux right now to where yeah,
Cooper Rush is gonna play, they have confidence, and yeah
MICUs Partsan's coming back.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Some of the Cowboys are a good football team. I'll
take the Eagles.
Speaker 5 (37:17):
I'll give up seven points, which is a ton in
the National Football League, and I like the Eagles to
get out big the Cowboys to kind of make this
somewhat of a game, and so I'll go over the
points and I'll take the Eagles.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Yeah, that's how I'm doing I'm taking the Eagles, but
I'm taking the over on the points, all right.
Speaker 7 (37:36):
Real quick.
Speaker 6 (37:37):
Last one here. The Detroit Lions head to Houston on
Sunday Night Football. The Lions a three and a half
point favorite, the total like forty eight and a half
in this one.
Speaker 5 (37:46):
Hey man, you are not messing around. You have picked
some games where it's like nothing as obvious.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
These are all hard games, like the Lions in the Texas,
it's like flip a coin. Okay, y'all take this.
Speaker 5 (38:02):
But whenever I had these toss up games, I guess
you that you should just go with the team that
is the underdog. But I'm not sure that the Texans
will be able to handle the physicality that the Lions
are playing and are going to play with. After what
(38:22):
I saw last week, the Texans could not protect CJ.
Stroud at all. I believe the Texas need to get
guys involved. John Mitchi can really play. They don't involve him.
Tank Dell can really play. They need to involve him more.
If they do that, they got a chance. But they've
shown me that they haven't been able to do that.
Though Miko zel thoh Stefan involve these other players, they
(38:44):
can actually play.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
I'm gonna take the Detroit Lions and.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Over I'm gonna take the under the Detroit line.
Speaker 10 (38:53):
All right.
Speaker 6 (38:53):
That's up on Game Down again.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
Thank you guys, Thank you Bo, and you know what,
thank you TJ for allowing me to continue to dominate
you in these pits.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Wow, so good at it, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
But you know that's all right.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Enjoy your days of watching football today, everyone else, enjoy
your days of watching.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
Football and sports.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
I'm going to get on the road and head up
to State College. Thanks to my people at Zimbie's for
allowing me to air live from their amazing establishment. Yeah,
Jonas Knoxky's coming up next, so make sure you stay
locked in.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
This is up on Game Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
Have a great weekend.
