Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome and his verdic with Center. Ted Kruz, Ben Ferguson
with You and Center. This may be one of the
most interesting stories we've gotten to talk about in a while,
and that is Democrats are so hell bent on being
the opposite of Donald Trump and Conservatives that they're now
advocating for people that are members of terrorist gang organizations

(00:22):
and demanding that we bring illegals back into America. You
cannot make this up. Well.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Ever since the election in November, Democrats have been flailing about.
They have been unable to coalesce behind any clear platform,
any clear policy agenda other than hatred for Donald Trump
and anger at rage at the voters for re electing him.
They've now seemed to settle on two policy positions, which

(00:49):
I have to admit are curious policy positions for a
party that was just resoundingly defeated at the polls. Number One,
Democrats have apparently decided the issue that's going to bring
them back to power is that Democrats want more illegal aliens,
and especially more illegal aliens who have been found by
courts to be members of MS thirteen. That's a fairly

(01:11):
remarkable position, and yet that is where they are Secondly,
they have decided that what we need in our college
campuses is more anti Semitism, more radicals, more Prohamas protesters,
and more anti American zealots who hate our nation. Now,
I got to say, Ben, as I say both of
those propositions, the words coming out of my mouth sound

(01:32):
absurd except for the fact that that is exactly where
today's Democrat party has decided to land. We're going to
lay out the facts behind both of those, both the
all in Democrat rush to get behind bringing more illegals
who are MS thirteen gang members back into this country,
and the Democrats defense of Harvard University, which is decided

(01:54):
they're not going to change a damn thing. They're going
to continue to discriminate on race, and they're going to
continue to let in every anti Semite they want to,
and who the heck is the federal government to try
to enforce civil rights laws against them. We're going to
break both those stories down today.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Yeah, it really is incredible. I also want to remind you, guys,
many of you may be listening to the show and
you're new to the show. Hit that subscribe or auto
download button so you do not miss an episode. So
do that right now as well. Also, I want to
tell you about our friends at the International Fellowship of
Christians and Jews. Israel is still under attack right now.
Missile fire has resumed from the Houthis, from Hesblah and

(02:32):
from Hamas and enemies that are seeking Israel destruction. Is
unfortunately what Israel's having to deal with every day. Here
in America, we cannot imagine living under constant threat of
terrorism and rocket attacks. Well, this is the reality in Israel.
Parents taking their children to school, falling to the ground
to lay on top of their small children, trying to

(02:53):
comfort them as the sirens blair. The next attack against
Israel is happening now. With little Tom, I'm to prepare
and that's why I'm asking for your help. That is
also why it's so important that you know about the
International Fellowship of Christians and Jews. They provide life saving
aid and security essentials, and your urgently need a gift

(03:14):
today will help provide security essentials like bomb shelters, flag jackets,
and bulletproof vests for the first responders. They also provide
armored security vehicles, armored ambulances, and so much more. So
join me and stand with Israel. You can make a
donation by calling eight to eight for eight eight IFCJ.

(03:36):
That's eight eight eight four eight eight four three two five,
or go online to support IFCJ dot org one word
support IFCJ dot org. So center, let's go back to
this story, and Democrats are now coalescing around an individual

(03:58):
that was deported out of this cunt. And not only
are they rallying, but they're putting together apparently a dead
delegation that they want to send down to L. Salvador
to quote stand up for the illegal immigrant that's a
MS thirteen gang member.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Well, there was an illegal immigrant whom the Trump administration
deported to L.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Salvador.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Abrego Garcia is his name, and he was here illegally.
Everyone admits that he came into this country illegally, and
he was also adjudicated not once, but twice to be
an MS thirteen gang member. Now President Trump has determined
MS thirteen to be a terrorist organization, and so he
was apprehended and he was deported by the Trump administration. Now,

(04:41):
it so happened that there was a court order that
said not that Abrego Garcia could not be deported, but
that he could not be deported back to l Salvador,
which is where he's from. He's an El Salvadorian national,
and that court order was a long it was an
older court order that was miss that was over looked,
and he was deported and sent to El Salvador. And

(05:02):
the Democrats have decided that that error is sufficient reason
they are jumping on airplanes and headed down to El
Salvador to apparently go camp outside the prison camp where
terrorists and murders and rapists are held, to say, you
know what America needs is more of those terrorists, murderers,
and rapists back in America. Now, I got to say

(05:23):
that that's a stunning position. So here's how the Washington
Examiner put it. Quote to hear Democrats like Chris Murphy
tell it, Garcia was just an innocent, doting father who
was randomly targeted by the Trump administrations to be sent
to El Salvador's terrorism confinement. Senator the Supreme Court then

(05:44):
ordered Trump to return this quote legal resident back to
the United States. Trump is refused, sending our nation into
a constitutional crisis. Senator Van Holland has even announced that
he's going to personally travel to El Salvador. To bring
Garcia home because you know that's what you want. It's
Democrats trafficking an illegal immigrants. Sure, the problem is that

(06:05):
Democrats leave a lot out of Garcia's story, and the
truth makes Trump's failure to return him quite reasonable. For starters,
Garcia was not in the United States legally, by the way.
Nobody disputes that. That is undisputed by his lawyer's own admission.
He enters the country illegally in twenty eleven. Then eight

(06:27):
years later, Garcia was arrested at home Depot while illegally
soliciting employment the Princes The Prince George's County Police Department
then transferred him to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which began
deportation proceedings against him. As a defense to deportation, Garcia
tried to claim asylum, claiming that his life was in
danger from the Barrio eighteen gang. But his asylum claim

(06:50):
was denied and the judge ordered his removal. Let me
repeat that statement. But his asylum claim was denied and
the judge ordered his removal. Now here's the sentence that
complicates it. The judge did, however, grant Garcia a quote
withholding of removal order forbidding his removal to l Salvador,

(07:14):
but that did not make him a legal resident, as
Garcia's own lawyers admit, should the Trump administration wish to
remove plain if Ibrego Garcia to any other country, they
would have no legal impediment in doing so. And so
these are the facts that the Democrats have decided their

(07:34):
party is all about. You want to know what is
today's Democrat party stand for? More illegal immigrants, more gang
members that you know what? This ain't your grandfather's Democrat party.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
So you've done international trips before. And if I remember
the name, I think it's Codell. So does is this
an official delegation? If it's senators and consciencemen going down there,
this is a real Codell. The American taxpayer is going
to pay for this photo op.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yes, And and look that's that's one of the prerogatives
of being in the Senate is that you can travel
internationally on official travel, and each senator can make it
a termination of where he or she wants to go.
And it should be related to your responsibilities, related to
your work. But particularly for someone like Van Holland or Murphy,

(08:24):
they both served with me on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,
and so that in and of itself gives you a
significant justification to travel abroad work related. Let me give
you an example of that. If you go back during
the first Trump administration, when President Trump moved our embassy
in Israel to Jerusalem. That's something I had been fighting

(08:44):
for for for the entire time I've been in the Senate.
Presidents from both parties, both Republicans and Democrats, had promised
to move our embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, and presidents
in both parties had broken that promise. Well, Donald Trump
followed through on that promise, and it was the right
thing to do it with something that I advocated vigorously
to President Trump repeatedly in the Oval Office for him

(09:05):
to do so when he did. When we were opening
our embassy about a year later, I decided I wanted
to be there and and so I went down and
and I traveled down, and there were a number of
other Senators, number of other House members that went. And
you know what was striking ben is is when the
embassy was opened. It was actually on the date of
the seventieth anniversary of the creation of the modern state

(09:27):
of Israel. Not a single Democrat member of Congress came.
Chuck Schumer didn't come. No Democrat senators came, No Democrat
House members came. By the way, historically many congressional Democrats,
including Chuck Schumer, had called for moving our embassy to Jerusalem,
but what it was actually moved. None of them came,
and several of them whined publicly, well, the Trump administration

(09:49):
didn't invite us. Well, you know what, they didn't invite
me either. I don't think they invited any members of Congress.
They just opened the embassy. I ended up going, and
I actually ended up going with with my and Lindsey Graham,
and I was literally walking along in the Capitol and
I turned to Mike, who's a very dear friend of mine,
and I said, Mike, We're going to open the embassy
in Jerusalem. I've been fighting for this for years. I

(10:11):
want to be there. Do you want to be there too?
He said absolutely, Let's go. And Lindsay wanted to come
to and so we went out of our official budgets
with the ability to purchase plane tickets and travel, and
so we traveled there to be there. We met with
Prime Minister net and Yah who we met with Senior
government officials. That's part of the job. So look, can
the Democrats travel Del Salvador if they want and is
that part reasonably of their work? Yes, But what they're

(10:34):
doing is traveling there in order to highlight we want
to bring this illegal immigrant, whom two courts have found
as an MS thirteen member back to America. That's astonishingly
bad policy and I think astonishingly bad politics.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
You mentioned that this is I agree with you, astonishing
policy and bet politics. But the media has been giving
them cover on this story. If you listen to the media.
I was I was watching MSNBC, for example, and they
were they were talking, you were the one we had, Yeah,
I was the one, right, and I was I was
watching and they had the mother who said where it's

(11:14):
the next number of days since he has disappeared. And
I'm like, well, well, hold on, if he's disappeared, then
how do you guys know where to go to find
him and see him and to have this delegation go
down there. Which one is it he's disappeared or you
know exactly where he is? And of course the answer
is they obviously know where he is. But MSNBC was like,
we stand with you. To the mother, like we're with
you in solidarity right now to his wife. And I'm

(11:39):
laughing because none of the facts have come up about
not one, but two courts saying this guy's MS thirteen
gang member.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
None of these Democrats could even bring themselves to utter
the name Lincoln Riley. None of these Democrats could bring
themselves to utter the name Joscelyn Nungary. None of these
Democrats could bring themselves to utter the name Rachel Brand.
The American victims who were murdered by criminal illegal aliens
whom Democrats had released, they won't acknowledge, they won't fight for,

(12:08):
they don't care about. At the State of the Union
when Alexis Nungary, Jocelyn Nungare's mom was sitting next to
the First Lady, Milania Trump, and the President introduced her.
I know Jocelyn's mom really well. She's an incredible young
woman who's shown great courage and fortitude. Not a single
Democrat in the Chamber would applaud for. So they cannot

(12:28):
bring themselves to stand with Americans whose children have been
murdered by violent illegal immigrants whom they released. But you
give them an illegal immigrant ordered deported by a court
determined to be an MS thirteen gang member, and they
are all in and I want you to listen to
this exchange. So in the Oval office, the president of

(12:49):
El Salvador, President Bucelly, was here this week and he
met with President Trump in the Oval Office and there
were a number of members of the cabinet there, and
CNN of course immediately asked are you going to send
this individual back? And the exchanges is quite striking President Bukelly,
his answer was quite strong, and President Trump asked as

(13:11):
three people asked Pambondy, the Attorney General, asked Stephen Miller,
who's the deputy chief of staff and an expert on
immigration law, and asked Marco Rubio all to respond to
CNN's questions. And I got to say that their answers
were a masterclass in how to deal with media misinformation
and disinformation. It's a lengthy excerpts, but it's worth hearing

(13:35):
because it really does lay out the truth and expose
the media lies. Give a listen and.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
Who your administration says was mistaken which the man who
was mistakenly deported to El Salvador.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
Well, let me ask Pam, would you as to answer.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
That question, Sir President, First and foremost, he was illegally
in our country. He had been illegally in our country.
And in twenty nineteen two an immigration court and an
appellate immigration court ruled that he was a member of
MS thirteen and he was illegally in our country right now.

(14:10):
It was a paperwork, it was additional paperwork had needed
to be done. That's up to El Salvador if they
want to return him. That's not up to us. The
Supreme Court rule President that if as El Salvador wants
to return him, this is international matters, foreign affairs. If
they wanted to return him, we would facilitate it, meaning

(14:31):
provide a plane.

Speaker 6 (14:35):
And if you are doing a great job, and you
just also respond to that question because you know it's
asked by CNN, and they always ask it with a
slant because they're totally slanting because they don't know what's happening.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
That's why nobody's watching them. But would you answer that
question also gladly?

Speaker 4 (14:53):
So, as Pam mentioned, there's the illegal alien from El Salvador.
So with respect to you, he's a citizen of El Salvador.
So it's very arrogant even for American media to suggest
that we would even tell El Salvador how to handle
their own citizens as a starting point, as two immigration
courts found that he was a member of MS thirteen.

(15:15):
When President Trump declared MS thirteen to be a foreign
terrorist organization, that meant that he was no longer eligible
under federal law, which I'm sure you know you're very
familiar with, the iona that he was no longer eligible
for any form of immigration or relief in the United States.
So we had a deportation order that was valid, which
meant under our law he's not even allowed to be

(15:36):
present in the United States and had to be returned
because of the foreign terrorist designation. This issue was then
by a district court judge completely inverted, and a district
court judge tried to tell the administration that they had
to kidnap a citizen of El Salvador and fly him
back here. That issue was raised at the Supreme Court,

(15:56):
and the Supreme Court said the district court order was
unallowed and its main components were reversed nine zero, unanimously
stating clearly that neither Secretary of State nor the President
could be compelled by anybody to forcibly retrieve a citizen
of El Salvador from Al Salvador, who again is a
member of m S thirteen, which is I'm sure you understand, rapes,

(16:19):
little girls, murderer's woman, murder's children, is engaged in the
most barbaric activities in the world. And I can promise
you if he was your neighbor, you would move right away.

Speaker 5 (16:27):
So you don't plank the Supreme Court. In the Supreme
Court save was it nine to nothing?

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Yes, there's a nine zero in our favor against the
district court ruling saying that no district court has the
power to compel the foreign policy function of the United States.
As Pam said, the ruling solely stated that if this
individual at El salvad Or sole discretion was sent back
to our country, that we could deport him a second time. Well,

(16:55):
no version of this legally ends up with him ever
living here, because he is a citizen of El Sis
that is the President of Old Salvador. Your questions about
it for the court can only be drifted to him, I.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
Asked, President, do you plan to return him?

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Well? Yeah, and post your guys suggested that I smuggle
the terrorists in today United States?

Speaker 5 (17:16):
Right, how can I smuggle how can I return him today?
ULA's just like I smuggled him into the United States
or whether we do, of course, I'm not going to
do it.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
It's like, I mean, the.

Speaker 5 (17:27):
Question is preposterous. How can I smuggle the terrorists in today?
United States? I don't have the power to return him
to the United States. You can release inside of but
I'm not releasing. I mean, we're not very fond of
releasing terrorists into our country.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
We just turned the murder capital of the world into
the safest country of the Western hemisphere.

Speaker 6 (17:44):
And he want us to go back into the releasing
criminals so they can go back to being the murder
capital of the world. And that's that's not kind of
But they'd love to have a criminal you know, schedule
I mean, I mean there's a fascino.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Yeah, sick piece of shick people. Markuld gives something to say.

Speaker 7 (18:02):
Yeah, I mean, Stephen Iland, I don't understand what the
confusion is. This individual is a citizen of Alsavador. He
was illegally in the United States and was returned to
his country. That's where you deport people back to their
country of origin, except for Venezuela. That wasn't refusing to
take people back of places like that. I can tell
you this, mister President. No, the foreign policy of the
United States is conducted by the President of the United States,

(18:24):
not by a court. And no court in the United
States has a right to conduct the foreign policy of
the United States.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Is that some senator?

Speaker 1 (18:31):
You can hear it there. They laid out the facts,
the facts that the media are not telling the American people.
They laid out the connections to the terrorist organization, which
is MS thirteen. They laid out the facts that not
one but two judges have said he's an MS thirteen
gang member. And oh, by the way, when the media
says this guy did nothing wrong, he was in the
country illegally. He broke into the United States of America.

(18:53):
So the entire thing is propaganda from the left.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
It is.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
And by the way, I will say on multiple media
outlets have tweeted about this illegal immigrant who's been adjudicated
to be a gang member. They keep describing him as
a quote Maryland father. So since when does an illegal
immigrant who happen to be living in Maryland make him
a Maryland father. Yes, he was in fact apprehended in Maryland,
but he is. He is from l Salvador. It's why. Actually,

(19:20):
they asked the president of El Salvador, are you to
send him back? And at the end of the day,
the president of Al Salvador said, look, why am I?
Why would I smuggle a terrorist into the United States.
This is someone who's been found to be a member
of MS thirteen. It is illegal for him to come
to America. You're asking me, would I bring an illegal
immigrant terrorist into America? My answer is no. And the

(19:42):
media has no answer for that. They're like, no, no, no,
we want that. And what's astonishing, Okay, nobody's surprised. CNN
wants more illegal immigrant terrorists into this country. MSNBC wants
more illegal immigrant terrorists into this country. Now, to be fair,
CNN and MSNBC don't have to get votes. They just
have to appeal to radical leftists. But Democrats presumably want

(20:03):
to get votes from normal people. This is a very
curious issue for them to lean all in on. But
I got to say this defines who today's Democrat party is.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Let me tell you about Patriot Mobile real quick. If
you've got a cell phone and your cell phone is
not with Patriot Mobile, then the question I got to
ask you, is why why have you not made the switch? Well,
you should make the switch, and the deal is really easy.
You get cutting edge technology. Switching has never been easier.
There's no store visits, no hassles. You get to keep

(20:35):
your same phone number you have right now. You get
to keep your same phone you've got now or upgrade
to a new one. And they have a one hundred
percent US based team that can activate you literally in minutes.
The other thing that I love about Patriot Mobile is
this they have access to all three major networks, meaning
you get exceptional nationwide coverage. I use Patriot Mobile and

(20:56):
half for years. They can even put a second number
on a different network on your phone. It's like carrying
two phones in one. You can have a work number
and a personal number. It's amazing. They have unlimited data plans,
mobile hotspots, international roaming, Internet on the go devices, and
home internet backup as well. You can get all of

(21:19):
this from Patriot Mobile. So why are you waiting? Make
the switch today? And by the way, when you pay
your bill, you know that about five percent of that
bill every month is going back to support conservative causes,
causes that stand for our first and or Second Amendment rights,
the rights of unborn children. And they stand with our veterans,

(21:39):
our first responders, our police and firemen, are EMTs and
are wounded warriors. So make a difference. With every call
you make. Go to Patriotmobile dot com slash verdict or
nine to seven to Patriot right now, use the promo
code vertict. You'll get a free month of service. So
switch to Patriot Mobile and defend freedom with every call

(21:59):
in text you make. That's Patriotmobile dot com slash verdict
or nine to seven to Patriot Make the switch today Center.
Which this issue that we just talked about brings us
to another double down issue with Democrats that again they
without leadership in the Democratic Party right now. It's pretty
clear they're trying to a figure out who's in charge,

(22:22):
and b the radicals are getting to push the agenda,
which brings us to Harvard, and Trump has said we
are freezing the funding going to Harvard. They have slashed
over two point two billion in funding to Harvard after
the school is defied federal law, and the White House
says we're not playing around. A lot of Americans, by

(22:44):
the way, may not realize that two point two in fact,
a lot more than that is going to Harvard of
your tax dollars.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
Yeah, Harvard gets roughly nine billion dollars in federal taxpayer dollars,
so it gets an enormous amount. Now, it's a huge
research institution, and it does some good research. It does
medical research and scientific research, and some of that researches
is valuable. But but what the Trump administration is announced,
the Joint Task Force on Combating Anti Semitism has announced
that it's freezing over two billion dollars in multi year

(23:14):
grants and contracts to Harvard. Uh And and that was
following the school's president putting out a statement saying it
would not comply with the Trump administration's demands on on
anti semitism. And and I got to say, this is
a battle that that Harvard and a lot of academic
institutions are putting out statements in support of Harvard. So brave,

(23:36):
so brave. Now, I will say most other institutions, when
the Trump administration has threatened their funding, they've caved, and
they've caved very quickly. But the other institutions are happy
to applaud Harvard and say yes, yes, yes, lose your
funds you're you're so brave. Uh and I And what
is striking is that Democrats, Barack Obama, the Democrat governor Massachusetts,

(23:57):
are all lining up behind Harvard and and and there
is a reason when you look at the core basis
of the Democrat Party.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
You know, there was a time in a prior generation
when the Democrat Party was considered a blue collar party.
And in the age of FDR, it was a party
of union members and working class uh and and and
in fact, one of the reasons that that FDR was
was treated with contempt is because he was a very
wealthy person, as many Democrats are. But but he was
considered a quote traitor to his class because he was

(24:27):
a rich man who became a historic Democrat leader. Well,
that Democrat Party doesn't exist anymore. The Democrat Party no
longer cares about the blue collar and in fact, they
routinely destroyed blue collar jobs. Today's Democrat Party is a
party of coastal elites. And and it is a party
that is comprised of big universities and and and big

(24:49):
business and big tech and big Hollywood, all of whom
have overlapping problems. All of them are are in bed
with China and and and all of them have been
taken over by radical leftism, by cultural Marxism.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
As you know.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
The most recent book I wrote is entitled Unwoke, How
to Defeat Cultural Marxism in America, And each chapter breaks
down a different major institution that's been captured by the
radical left. The first chapter is entitled Universities the Wuhan
Lab of the Woke Virus. And what I argue is

(25:26):
that it is universities and sadly, my alma mater, Harvard,
where the woke virus was first created in a lab,
and then it mutated and spread, and it spread throughout
just about every other major institution in this country. And
so Harvard has been the locusts of much of the
radical leftism and cultural Marxism that has done enormous damage

(25:49):
to our institutions. And Harvard is digging in, and they're
claiming that they're digging in in defense of free speech.
But what they're really digging in on on it is
they don't want to change their policies. Number One, that
discriminate on race. They love discriminating on race. They love
dei that they love putting race front and center, which

(26:11):
by the way is directly contrary to federal civil rights law.
And they also want to continue admitting radical anti Semites.
They want to continue looking the other way at prohamas
protesters who threaten Jewish students, who threaten violence, who threaten intimidation,
who call for genocide, And they want to continue admitting
and promoting anti American radicals. And that includes both students

(26:34):
and faculty. And so when the administration put a series
of demands in place that Harvard said, no, I got
to tell you, Harvard thinks they want this fight. In
my opinion, the Trump administration is eager for this fight
with Harvard. And you could not ask Harvard has an
endowment of over fifty billion dollars. And you know, one

(26:57):
of my favorite responses to that to Harvard, Everard's supposed
stance on principle, where they talked about standing for the
First Amendment, is Hillsdale College, which is a great college.
It is a conservative college, a free market college. But
one of the things they do is they don't take
federal money. And Hillsdale actually twigted, well, you can say

(27:17):
anything you like, just don't take federal money. And oddly enough,
Harvard doesn't want to do that. They want the taxpayers
to fund them, but they want to continue to be
embracing racism and vitriolic anti American sentiment while at the
same time being funded by American tax payers.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
So when you look at this fight, I do think
one of the very interesting parts of all of this
that we're talking about is now Americans are really waking
up and realizing like where their money has been going,
how much of it is going. And you're right, there's
some of this as research, and that's thing we can
be proud of, and that's a good thing, But a
lot of this is going to indoctrinating kids with radical

(27:56):
leftist ideals. And that's part of the reason why I
think they need this money, right, They want the money
for that reason. They've been doing a great job of
doing that for the last several decades. So if the
money does dry up at places like Harvard and then
we start to see more questions being asked about other money.
Not only could this change universities in a positive way,

(28:17):
I think, for free speech and not having one set
of views that are indoctrinated, but it could also save
the taxpayers a hell of a lot of money because
it's not just Harvard that's getting cash.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Oh yeah, but Harvard is the perfect test subject. And
our universities right now have become indoctrination labs. They've become
places that enforce rigid orthodoxy. And if you say something
that is contrary to the radical leftist view, you risk
being disciplined, you risk being having your grades, and you

(28:48):
also risk just not being admitted. And look, some of
the question comes down to a very simple what is
it that the administration was requesting? Because if the administration
was demanding Harvard must teach in every class that Donald
Trump is the greatest president who have ever lived, I
would agree with Harvard that no university could give in

(29:09):
to a government demand about a specific position like that,
particularly if it's one they disagree with. But that's not
what the Trump administration said. And I have in front
of me the letter that the Trump administration said. It's
five pages. I'm not going to read it all, but
I'm going to read some of the portions of it.
So it is addressed both to Alan Garber, who is

(29:31):
the president of Harvard University, and the Penny Prisker, who
is the lead member of the Harvard Corporation. Penny Pritzker,
by the way, was a cabinet member under Barack Obama.
And the Harvard Corporation runs all of Harvard. And it's
this privately held corporation of all Democrats that run Harvard
as this left wing bastion. Here's how the letter begins.
Dear doctor Garber, the United States has invested in Harvard

(29:55):
University's operation because of the value to the country of
scholarly discovery and academic excellence. But an investment is not
an entitlement. It depends on Harvard upholding federal civil rights law,
and it only makes sense if Harvard fosters the kind
of environment that produces intellectual creativity and scholarly rigor, both
of which are antithetical to ideological capture. Harvard has in

(30:18):
recent years failed to live up to both the intellectual
and civil rights conditions that justify federal investment, but we
appreciate your expression of commitment to repairing those failures and
welcome your collaboration in restoring the university to its promise.
We therefore present the below provisions as the basis for
an agreement in principle that will maintain Harvard's financial relationship

(30:38):
with the federal government. Here's the first governance and leadership reforms.
By August twenty twenty five, Harvard must make meaningful governance
reform and restructuring to make possible major change consistent with
this letter, including fostering clear lines of authority and accountability.
Apparently that was objectionable. Empowering tenured professors and senior leadership,

(31:03):
and from among the tenured professorate and senior leadership exclusively
those most devoted to the scholarly mission of the university
and committed to the changes indicated in this letter. Reducing
the power held by students and untenured faculty. Reducing the
power held by faculty, whether tenured or untenured, at administrators
more committed to activism than scholarship. Now, again, this is

(31:28):
something Harvard found unacceptable. We're not willing to focus on
scholarship instead of activism. Note that's a violation of what
we want to do. And reducing forms of governance bloat, duplication,
or decentralization that interfere with the possibility of reforms indicating
this letter. So that's the first one. Apparently something was
objectionable about that.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
What's the next one?

Speaker 2 (31:49):
Merit based hiring reform by August twenty twenty five, the
university must adopt and implement merit based hiring policies and
ceased all preferences based on race, color, religion, sex, or
national origin throughout its hiring, promotion, compensation, and related practices
among faculty, staff, and leadership. Now, mind you, that is

(32:10):
existing federal civil rights law, you cannot discriminate against based
on race. And yet for Harvard that is it is outrageous.
Of course they want to discriminate based on race. It's
an ideological commitment. What's the next one? Merit based admissions reform?
By August twenty twenty five, the university must adopt and
implement merit based admission policies and cease all preferences based

(32:33):
on race, color, national origin, or proxies thereof throughout its
undergraduate program, each graduate program, individual, each of its professional schools,
and other programs. Again, the idea of actually admitting students
based on merit rather than discriminating based on race, which
minds you? Discriminating based on race as illegal under federal
civil rights law. To Harvard is anathema. What's the next one?

(32:57):
International admissions reform? By August twenty twenty five, the university
must reform its recruitment, screening, and admission of international students
to prevent admitting students hostile to the American values and
institutions inscribed in the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence,

(33:17):
including students supportive of terrorism or anti Semitism. Again, apparently
that is outrageous and unacceptable. The next one viewpoint diversity
and admission and hiring. By August twenty twenty five, the
university shall commission an external party which will satisfy the
Federal Government as to its competence and good faith, to

(33:39):
audit the student body, faculty, staff, and leadership for viewpoint
diversity such that each department, field, or teaching unit must
be individually viewpoint diverse. Now, notably, they're not saying higher conservatives.
They're not saying hire Trump supporters. They're saying you cannot
have a faculty that is aversally orthodox and indoctrinating that

(34:02):
all have the same view that. You know, the left
loves to prattle on abo about diversity as our strength,
and by diversity they mean we must all be leftist
to believe the same thing, but saith though with different
skin colors. Now, I actually think diversity means having different ideas,
confronting ideas you disagree with. Look, I go through these

(34:24):
to give an example. I think each of those demands
are very reasonable. They're saying, comply with federal law. Be
an institution that actually does what you say, what you
claim to be doing. And yet Harvard is outraged. How
dare you hold us to the terms of federal law.
We cannot comply with that.
