Speaker 1 (00:00):
Get your right right with me. I get excited about
good morning, good afternoon, good evening. You are tuned into
the Vitamin D Podcast and you know I'm your host,
Dawn Day, here to get you excited about your life
here so that we can all live life on purpose

(00:21):
and for a purpose here because you know, it's my
dream honestly, and I'm glad that you're here, and I'm
glad for this journey. And I guess that's something I
want to talk to you about, just about the journey
of life. And you know I I do ever, so
now then I do like a check in, just like
a tapping, because I think oftentimes we need to check

(00:41):
in ourselves what we're going, how we're doing. And as
I'm on this journey of how my dreams and talking
about how vitamin is the dream and how I got
to expand with the dream, it just causes me to
do some self reflection. You know, isn't it so interesting
that um our eyes there on our front of our heads,

(01:04):
our face, right, and it's so easy for to see
everything in front of us except for our own reflection.
And oftentimes, or I shouldn't say often, but sometimes we
find ourselves running from the very thing that's right in
front of us. And the thing is that we can

(01:28):
keep on running, not realizing that we're not going anywhere fast.
And I think sometimes it gets in the way of
our dreams. I think sometimes it gets in the way
of our careers. Um love anything that is an extension
of us. And basically because we didn't choose to see it,
we didn't choose to acknowledge it, but more importantly, we

(01:51):
didn't choose to receive it. And I say that because
when you look think about it, looking at yourself in
the reflection, you have to stand there to receive what
you see. But if you can't receive what you see,
how can you be the gift that you were meant
to be. Hence, that's why we're here in the present,

(02:12):
right they say, no better time now than the present.
They say, the gift is in the present. We understand
all of these energies, these forces when we're forced to
be in the presence. However, oftentimes it's hard for us
to be in the presence of ourselves. So then I

(02:36):
have to ask you, what do you really want? What
do you want? Because if we are in a situation
to see ourselves, how do we know what we need?
How can you know what you do not see? Therefore,
how can you be? And if you really think about it,
that's the only assignment that we have right now is

(02:56):
just to be. I'm talking to my assistant Jeremiah and
talking about my plant in my home and he said,
don you did you name me yet? I was like no.
He was like, you should just make up a name,
maybe like a Latin or Spanish name. And right now
I'm all in this mode with this fragrance by East St. Laurent.
It's called Libra and it's like free freedom. And I

(03:19):
was like, wow, this goes along perfect with it, because
when I first got the plant, um, it was bind
it together for strings, these strings, so that it could
look like it's standing straight up, right? Isn't that kind
of like us? We put on these clothes, we put
on these personalities, put on his hat, these glasses so
we can have this look of who we are. And

(03:40):
you know, Um, I had taken off the string a
couple of weeks before that, So when he when we
were talking about I was like, oh, that's perfect cause
I was like here, I was so caught up and
in this plant looking straight up, and I said, aren't
we just supposed to be free? Free to be? Isn't
that the beauty of looking at the reflection of how

(04:01):
you just let it be and then receive it? And
so I look at the beauty of my plan. Right now,
I'm at home and I'm like, she's just free. So
maybe her name is Leeve, right, but as just checking
um and looking at my reflection, it's just time to
really see who Dawn is. You're not scary, right because,

(04:26):
like I said, your eyes are in front of you,
so it's so easy to dictate and to see everything else.
But what happens what you have to look at the
person who looks like you. There's no denying it because
it is what it is. And so that's why I
ask you, what do you really want? Who do you
want to be? Because you can't be what you cannot see.

(04:48):
And if you're standing in front of yourself and you
can't even see who you are, what is to say
about those dreams that you had? What does that mean?
Because you can say all day that this is you
want to achieve, But if you are doing the proper
check in of the self reflection to see where you've
been where you're going, how you're doing, how do you
know where you are? Where is the measurement. I did

(05:08):
not say to look at what everyone else is doing,
but more importantly, what are you doing? So I say, Dawn,
what are you doing? Because I talked about this before
in a previous episode of Yes, and this is the
Yes and season of Dawn is as I continue to
build on the dream, I gotta check in with myself.
I have to see myself the good and the bad.
Remember when we talk about cutting on the light, it's

(05:28):
the good and the bad, and you gotta receive you know,
it's interesting. Um. One of the people that has taught
me to receive myself, to see myself is my mother.
And you know it's Women's History Month. And to be told,
I have avoided the whole idea of just talking about
how amazing my mother was is because she resides in me. Um.

(05:52):
I tried to record the episode and I got some
emotional so crying, like all this kind of stuff, breathing
the whole shebang bang. Um. But I wouldn't be where
I am and who I am if it wasn't for her.
And when you think about the whole idea of Women's
History Month and celebrating every woman that has uh been
affected or has touched your life. And I don't care

(06:15):
where you are, where you live, A woman has affected
your life because you are here. You're here and that's
what my mother has taught me about my existence of
being here and understanding that it matters. And that's when
I do this check in about like Dawn, you matter,
Your dreams matter. You knowing what you really want matters.

(06:37):
You walking into yes and lifestyle matters. It matters that
you want abundance, It matters that you want a family,
It matters that you deserve love. And that's what I
want you to see that it matters. You matter. But
you can only matter if you choose to see yourself,
see that those don't matter, they don't mind. Do you

(07:00):
mind yourself? Because if you don't, why would your dream,
why would that relationship, why would that house? Said that
what you want, that car, those clothes? If you don't matter,
how can you not matter when you are a piece
of matter? So stop acting like you don't, Dawn. I

(07:22):
said that to myself because you know, when we go
opposite of what our dreams are, when we stand opposed
to our word and our integrity. We're saying that we
don't matter. And I'm here to tell you what Janice
Hill told me is that you matter. You matter enough
to take time to get to know yourself. Back up,

(07:44):
You matter enough to take time to see yourself, see
yourself in every season, the good, the bad, and the indifferent.
You matter enough to have patience with yourself. Did you
hear me to know to forgive yourself, to know that
you don't have to be in the inside of a box,

(08:05):
you know, being defined by someone else's definitions or measurements
of who you are, because guess what you matter? That
matter comes in all shapes and sizes, all types of forms, speaks,
all types of languages, and all types of cues for
it isn't just a reflection of you. Can you see yourself?

(08:27):
You know? I think about um back in the day,
there's this radio personality or media personality. Uh, probably doing
a lot of what I'm doing, or I should say
I'm doing a lot what she's doing. And my aunt
she said, don you gotta check out Martha Jane the Queen.
And I was talking to Jeremiah about it, and I
was saying that she has this excerpt that was out,

(08:49):
and she said, do you really want to make it?
And it's like, do you really want to live? Do
you really want to see yourself? Do you really think
you matter? She goes, I want to talk about how
life has its ups and downs and how basically, uh,
a lot of it has to do with receiving where
you are right now, understanding where you want to go,

(09:12):
and being patient with time because all you can is grow. See,
here's the thing. We try to dictate a lot of things,
and when it comes down, do you really want to
make it with your dreams? Do you really want to
make it with the relationship? Do you really want to
make it to the point of your fitness? And oftentimes
I'm not sure that we dig deep enough to unravel

(09:32):
who it is that we are because we put these
these uh structures on ourselves about what it is that
we want. But if you are in the state to
understand that you matter, why would you achieve it? Again?
If you matter, you're going to mind yourself. Right. So
with Martha Jane the Queen talked about do you really

(09:53):
want to make it? I thought to myself, I said,
don do you really want to make it? That's a
true question. And I only say that because oftentimes we
can find ourselves seeking something that we're not going after.
And that's where the trickery comes in. It's almost saying like, hey,

(10:15):
I want to lose weight, I want to be in shape,
but you're not eating the food. And and like I say, everything,
depending on what kind of context you take it in.
Faith without works is dead. You can't say that you
want things to happen if you aren't taking the first step.
You can't say that you want to lose weight and
you and are not eating properly, you're not working out.

(10:36):
You can't say that you want to be this multimillionaire
and you aren't shaping your mind to put your investments
in there to surround yourself around the white people. So
that's what it means, Like do you really want to
make it? Do you? Because that frustration that you may
feel inside of you one you haven't done the check
in to see what you really want because you've been

(10:57):
running from yourself and you haven't had a chance to
see yourself. And then there's this thing where you're telling
a story to yourself. And I say storytelling this fiction
of what you think the life is that you want,
because your actions aren't saying that, and then you get
frustrated because now you made these false promises and they
become broken, and therefore you become broken, and now you're

(11:18):
trying to spend all your life of trying to put
the pieces back together. But you know, sometimes things fall
apart so they can come back together again, and sometimes
you realize that it's peace by piece that you can
find your peace. Peace by peace, so that you can
find your p E A c E. While you know,

(11:39):
we can get hard on ourselves and not having the
whole picture together, but sometimes it takes us to put
the pieces together because we're not defined by the other
people's lins. And just because we appear here does not
mean that we stay here, and it does not mean
that we don't evolutionize and grow. You're ready to grow
because life got more for you. So that's what my
check in has been, is just like it has life

(12:00):
has for me and what it looks like, what it
feels like, and my got the work that it takes
to just believe and to breathe. And that's what I
want for you, and that's what I'm hoping that vitamin
D is doing for you just stop being scared in
a moment. Understand that your reflection is all that you
need to see. That's how you set yourself free. If

(12:21):
you think about it, you know who you are and
who you aren't. And and notice that you know I'm
saying reflection and I'm not just talking about the whole
idea with the physical in front of you. I mean
what's inside. I mean, Beyonce said in her song she
said find my way back. You know a lot of
people be like, Dawn, I got these dreams, or Dawn,

(12:43):
I don't know what I really want. And then people
are like, hey, sit, sit, sit with yourself, take time
to breathe, because it's all about finding your way back.
Finding your way back is just being that joy. Let
me say something, you know, I say it all the time,
and I'm gonna say it again. I'm coming to the
understanding of what the Bible has mean to me, as
far as um, the scriptures, as far as uh, the

(13:08):
the metaphors, the analogies of how two really receive it.
So even in there when it says be an instrument
of my piece, well, if we're made in the image
of likeness, right my piece, I give something peace beyond

(13:29):
to you, whatever the case may be. But if that
pieces inside and if you notice people that are uber successful,
and I'm not just talking about monetary I'm talking about
just has a piece. They have a glow. They're doing
what they love, they're being with who they love, and
they're exercising that. See what do you do with an instrument?
You play with it. So then it becomes what's your song?

(13:56):
Is your song writing? Is it dancing? Is it volunteering?
Is it technology? Is that recording? Is a singing? Is
it acting? As it being a doctor? What is your song?
Just play your song? And that's what it means to
be the instrument of your peace. Just mind your peace.
Like I said, piece by peace. So Dawn, how do

(14:19):
I know what I want to do? Just find your
way back, find the things that you love, the thing
that you want to do, and see it. Stop judging
and stop putting any type of restrictions on it. Remember
I told you about the plant. It's just meant to
be freaking you imagine. Okay, let's go back to the
whole strip scripture moment for Jesus, God is saying, I

(14:40):
am the light in the way. Could you imagine if
your light was constricted m and honestly, truth be told,
that's what I feel that religion does. Oftentimes you're trying
to restrict the light. You're trying to tell me how
I can get to the light. Who do you think
that you are? Who is it? But wait, you forgot

(15:02):
that the light was already inside of me? So who
is it that you think that you are? But more importantly,
who is it that you don't know who you are?
I was also watching this new Disney film. It's called
Riya and the Last Dragon, and it's so beautiful. I
realized that that's my thing. Like when I'm having a
stressful moment, I'm turning on a Disney animated film that

(15:22):
just makes me feel good. But just as we're talking
about the light, that's what the film was all about.
It was about this girl in our realm. Let's just
say she's going to all four corners of the earth,
but she's going into her um, her village, trying to
get Kamandra, and that's to get everyone together, all the
pieces together. And this dragon ball it got bursted, and

(15:44):
it comes with this light, and there's this plague of
darkness that keeps coming and it comes by and turns
people to stone. But when you have a piece of
that light, she casts the light and anyone that has
it and they run away. Could you imagine what will
happen if you cast that you're light? Be an instrument
of your peace. Find your way back. See when you

(16:08):
are the source, you don't really have to seek the source.
That's what it means when they say you are enough.
That's what I mean by what I say. Do the
check in and see yourself reflection, because this life will
have you in a situation because falling just for your eyes,
you're looking at what's in front of you, where you
have to go, but not realizing where you are an
already what you have. Truly when they say everything you

(16:29):
want is inside of you, be an instrument of your peace.
Play your song. The only thing that you're designed to
do is to fine tune it. And if you got
the light, no matter where you step, it will be light.
Think about it. You can flash a light a star

(16:50):
millions of miles away, can be seen through all the
darkness and still managed to twinkle, twinkle, twinkle, little star.
How I wonder what you are? What are you? More importantly?
Can you see it? Well, that's the check in. I
just had to say, Hey, everything's going good in my way.

(17:14):
Um ups and downs and all the way arounds, but
it's good. And I'm in reflection season. I'm seeing a lot.
I'm noticing what Dawn needs to do and I'm in
the yes and and I hope you are too. And
I just want to encourage you to keep listening in
and checking in. In fact, if you have anything, shoot

music and inspiring people. So just hit me up. We
got more. It's evolving, m I told you it's a
new Dawn, It's a new day. Hi. Hi, So you're
ready to play? Huh? You're ready to go on this

(17:58):
journey because I believe in you. You know, when I
was in eighth grade, I had this quote. It was entitled,
I make myself what I am. I'll make it. Did
you hear me? You make yourself who you are? What
do you want? You better go check out Martha Jina
queen and find out do you really want to make it?

(18:18):
Because that make it could just be here coming in
another day, adjusting your mind, setting your viewpoint, taking a
minute to see yourself and say, hey, I see you,
and you're worth it. You're worth it. I bet if
a lot of people realized how much they're worth it,
there's nothing they wouldn't do. There's nothing they wouldn't have,
because when you know what you're worth is you know
what you deserve, and then you'll know that if it

(18:39):
doesn't serve you, what doesn't deserve you. Take a look
at yourself, because you're beautiful. All right, Chiel, Let me
get out of here, Let me get it going. You know,
