I means tomorrow I don't have to get up early.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
That means it's the weekend.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
I work hard all week, even though normally on the
weekends I worked to this weekend though, my cousin is
getting married.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Congratulations Car Yes.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
So congratulations Julianne and Kyle. I have to go her wedding.
It's upstate New York and then the New York Liberty.
I'm going to the game on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
I think I've been to one of those games.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
It's really fun. I'm not gonna lie. The New York Liberty.
The w NBA games are lit.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Really, I think I've been to one.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Oh, we gotta get you out there. I know you'd
be going.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I know, I think, well, you know what, I think
I've been to one in the barkleysays.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
I've been to when they was at the Garden way
back in the day and now at the Barclays.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
So it's going to be a good time. Shout out
to our New York Liberty.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Now, today is a Friday, so of course new music
comes out today. Belly is going to be joining us
Mumbo Wrap too. It's right is out and he'll be
talking about that. Yeah, me and Manner would listen into that. Also,
Belly actually does a lot of co writing with the Weekend,
so he has some huge songs under his belt. But
he's written for a lot of artists who like even Beyonce.
(01:51):
Yeah yeah, so let's get the show started. Shine a
light on them. Eight hundred fifty one fifty is the number.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
It's way up with Angela.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Ye call us up and shine a light on him.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Turn your lights on y'all, spreading love to those who
are doing greatness.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Shine the light on them, Shine the light on them.
It's time to shine a light on Yes, it is
way up with Angela yee, Angela yee, and Mayno is
here with me, no man, may No. You always say
when I do shine a light on him, that I
don't ever do men, And that's not true.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
It's partially true.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
So today I want to shine a light on my
real estate attorney, Surge. Surge actually has held me a
lot with like all of the deals that I've done
when it comes to real estate, and I can always
call him up for even other things.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Outside of like closing a deal.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
When I've had issues with the neighbor, when I have
issues with a tenant, whatever it is, I could call
Surge up and he always gives me the best advice
and he does it really quickly. And I think that's
important when you have an attorney that gets stuff done
like that.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
So Surge is the guy.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
Is the guy? Okay, shine a light on Sarge, Shine
a light on Surge.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
You know it's always important to have lawyers on deck,
right mate.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Oh, most certainly, most certainly for many different reasons.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
All right, Well, who do you guys want to shine
a light on? Eight hundred nine fifty. Remember, this is
you shining a light on somebody who's done something positive.
And it can even be somebody that you just saw
in the news, maybe just a good story, positive story.
So maybe it's a family member. I'm gonna see my
whole family this weekend, so I'm sure I have some
good stories when I come back on Monday.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Yeah, what's that gonna be?
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Like?
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Crazy Angela.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
Yeah, they're gonna ask me a lot of questions about work, right,
I want to talk about it, but yeah, that's what
happens to all right, Well, what's up? Takeisha?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Hi?
Speaker 4 (03:38):
How are you?
Speaker 6 (03:39):
Who?
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Do you want to shine a light on?
Speaker 7 (03:42):
A light on my desk?
Speaker 8 (03:43):
Actually, okay, I am a recent widow taking care of
my daughter and a business woman, and that's part of
myself that I've been doing.
Speaker 9 (03:56):
Have an emotional day.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Sorry, Oh it's okay, baby.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
How old is your daughter's seven? She's seven? Where are
you guys located like Whatt City.
Speaker 8 (04:06):
In Nashville, Tennessee?
Speaker 4 (04:08):
All right?
Speaker 2 (04:09):
And Maryland?
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Well, I'm so sorry to hear about that, but you know,
like you said, you're taking care of your seven year
old daughter. Mayta, we should send her a gift for
her daughter, definitely.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Because you know, you're not only living for yourself, but
you're living for her and you know, you know that's
something that you know, we all deal with and it's
never easy, you know, but I will just tell you that,
you know, keep you know, the memories and the good things,
keep that at the forefront, forefront of your mind. You know,
keep all of the good you know.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Yeah, at least you have, you know, some amazing things
to remember.
Speaker 9 (04:43):
Amazing memories.
Speaker 8 (04:45):
We weren't married yet, but he was not Beyonce.
Speaker 9 (04:48):
We're both chef.
Speaker 8 (04:49):
Okay, very same, not favorite, but very predominantly known chef
wherever we worked at.
Speaker 9 (04:57):
And I'm also a baker my own business, and.
Speaker 8 (05:01):
I'm just trying to do what I can. I promote
my grief and share my journey on my Instagram page
because you know it's called black people don't really believe
and emotions and mental issues to.
Speaker 7 (05:17):
Break that curse. Chef TJ the d h e F
t J d u v.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
S Okay, Chef TJ Doves.
Speaker 8 (05:26):
Yeah, I try to share my journey because you know,
Black people have a hearted time grieving and dealing with
a lot of.
Speaker 7 (05:33):
Grief and mental issues, and I just want to make
sure that I'm a good advocate for that change.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
It sounds like you and your daughter need a spy day.
We should do a spy day for you at the
One Hotel. Remember well, we stayed at the One Hotel before,
so I think that'd be nice here in Nashville, right, yes,
all right, we're gonna set something up.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
We're gonna hit you out.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
And take and take as much time as you need grieving,
though I do.
Speaker 8 (05:57):
I do it one day, one minute.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
At the time, right yeah, one step at a time,
and one day at a time, take as much time
as you need.
Speaker 10 (06:04):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
Okay, we love you, chef.
Speaker 7 (06:07):
Thank you, love you too.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
All right, Well that.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Was shine a light out on eight hundred two nine
fifty fifty is the number you can always call us
up and leave a message to on a Friday. And
when we come back, let's talk about yet entanglements. I
know this is one of Mayno's favorite topics. It is
three somes and all of that, but we'll tell you
what Rasby had to say and responds to Killee from
three l W and Cheeah girls. It's a way up
at Angela Yu she's like the talk like they Angela Jean,
(06:34):
like they Angela jee.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Man, She's spilling it all. This is yet way up.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Yes, it is way up at Angela Yee, Angela Yee.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
And new Mayna Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Yeah, yeah, yes, Oh maybe we gotta get that nice
and loud.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
And Mayno's here with me doing some yati. So let's
start off with this story. Kille Williams. If you guys recall,
she did an interview with Carlos King and kill Least
from the Cheetah Girls and from three l W and
she talked about a quote unquote entanglement that she had
previously when I was in Thrilled of You for like
a hot second, I had an entanglement with Maria all
(07:15):
the members of two K Wow at the same time.
I mean, it's an entanglement, so I guess at the
same time. It was all the same time, same time.
I don't know. That's what she said. She said that
she hooked up with them all at the same time.
I don't know if that means like during the same
time period or simultaneously. But Rasby recently was on the
(07:40):
Progress Report and he did confirm that. Here's what he said.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
I feel really good and.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Three W does have some good I want to ask
you about it. But you said keep a.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
Cute and she did text me and she got she
told me she got my Instagram. After that, she said,
don't lie.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
And she did say that it was a one time thing.
She was young, and she said everybody got to make mistakes.
And she also said that they were cute back in.
Speaker 1 (08:07):
The day and she knocked them all off.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
Yeah, I guess, yeah, but she was like she was
grown and she admitted and she was young at the
time and she did all right. The city council in Oakland, California,
has voted to rena industry after Tupac Shakor Tupac Shakor
a Way. So on Tuesday, they voted to rename a
stretch of MacArthur Boulevard between Grand Avenue and Van Buren
Avenue where Tupac once lived with Tupac Shakor away. So, okay,
(08:36):
that's the goal, having named after you.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Did you watch the documentary?
Speaker 3 (08:41):
No, I heard it so good.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Yes, everybody keeps talking about all right, that's I'm gonna
put that on my list of next things that I
need to watch. And let's talk about this Andy Warhol's
estate lost its US Supreme Court copyright fight with the
photographer Lynn Goldsmith on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Okay, so, so.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
The seven to two ruling upheld the lower courts decision
that Andy Warhol's work based on Goldsmith's nineteen eighty one
photo were not immune from her copyright infringement lawsuit and
focused on the licensing of only one of Warhol's Prince images.
And it says the entire silk screen series was not
a copyright violation. So I guess that's a big deal
(09:21):
right now when it comes to being able to use
pictures in art right and Goldsmith said she was thrilled
with the Supreme Court's decision, called it a great day
for photographers and other artists who make a living by
licensing their art. So she learned of the unauthorized works
after Prince's death. She countersuited the Andy warholl Foundation in
twenty seventeen after it asked the court to find that
(09:41):
the work she did did that the works did not
violate her copyright.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
That's happened in a lot. You used the wrong picture,
and you're gonna get.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
Ran down on yeah, on T shirts anything, you know what,
even when like, if somebody wants to film something in
your home, I have a huge picture of Prince right
in my house, and they'll make you take that down
before they start feeling because you can't even have that
on camera. So even if there's an artist who painted something,
it just can't be on television.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
I've been in situations shooting things with television and they
had to cover up my tattoos because they said that artwork.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
Yeah, artwork, they can sue you for that. So yes,
they have sided with the photographer in that case. That's
crazy and it's it's weird because it also could be
an interpretation, but if it's an interpretation of a specific photo,
then that still is a violation according to this all right,
and that is your yeete. When we come back, we
have about last night, and we had a time last night.
(10:34):
It all started with Mano up here in the studio.
He was out all night and was uh oh yes,
way up at Angela, yee.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Ye last night. So about last night last night?
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Last night I went down what's up? Its way up
at Angela ye Angela and is here yes? And about
last night? So Mano, you had a long day, you
came in here yesterday to work with no sleep, no sleep,
no sleep, and then stay outfit. You changed today though,
(11:08):
all right, So what did you do yesterday?
Speaker 1 (11:10):
I was moving around the city because the city needs
me right, and I went to an event Connie Diamond
shout out to Countie Diamond. And she has a new
ep O. She's from the Bronx, signed to Death Jam.
New artists coming out of New York City. It's called
the Underdogs Season. It's out right now.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Underdog Season out today. So you went to the official
listening party yesterday. I was up here with you. Yeah, yeah,
we were. And you hear the new Maynold job. So
my girls were here at Kashawan Valerie and they came
by also, and then afterward we went to go eat
at this restaurant called Mastros.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Right, you had buttercake.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
I did not have the buttercake.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
No ever going Mastros and not have buttercake.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Now here's my thing. Let me see how many calories.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
You don't play with? Those calories now worry about it.
We don't step foot in Mastrels without the buttercake.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
Because my whole thing is and the other thing, the
other dessert that I really enjoy I was telling you
it was about the six layer of lemon cake that
they have at Del Friscos. Right, all right, so let's
see how many calories are in this butter cake from Matt. WHOA, No,
that can't be true.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
What it says?
Speaker 4 (12:19):
Okay, maybe this is more and more like it. Now,
this one says four hundred and seventies.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
It's not bad. I might get one today because.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
You could walk there from here.
Speaker 11 (12:30):
Right.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Oh, but now this one says one, seven dred and
twenty five. Now that seems more like it.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
We can run it off in the morning.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
Yeah, I think it's seven.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
That's like the whole day's calories.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
Here's my thing when I go out to eat, I
like when restaurants have the calories listed on the side.
I don't next to the dish because it can make
me change my idea about what I'm going to eat.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Ruth Chris has.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
That, yes, and we both love the sweet potato castles. Yeah,
the sweet potato castro Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
It's crazy. I eat the whole thing myself.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
No, you can't do that whole thing.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
I do not share that.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
But what I've noticed that's really tricky that some restaurants
are doing is they're putting half the calories, and then
it says this is based on a two person service.
So you think maybe something says four hundred calories, but
it's really eight hundred. Eat the whole thing. Let me
see how much many calories are in that sweet potato casserole.
But I try to do little things because you know,
(13:23):
these uh pounds, I'm.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Battling, OBC. Honestly, I really am, I really am.
Speaker 4 (13:30):
All right, So there are three hundred and fifteen calories
and half a cup of Ruth Chris's Sweet Potato Castle.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Half a cup, but okay, that's half.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
It's eight and eighty.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
It's not that bad. It's it's either today's Friday. It's
either going to be that sweet Potato Castle road for
me or that buttercake.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
Okay, if you had to pick one.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
I'm going buttercake because I had I had that sweet
Potato casserole back to back, maybe about a month ago.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Okay, So that's that all right?
Speaker 4 (13:57):
Yeah, So my whole thing is I would definitely change
based off of that and other things that I try
to do, right, because I like going to a steakhouse
even though I don't eat red meat and I don't
eat seafood, but what I'll do is, instead of the
cream spinach, I'll get regular sau tete spinach instead of
cream corn. Take out the cream and makes a lot
of difference. I try to do little things. But when
I went to Mashos yesterday, instead of the buttercake, I
had an espresso Martina. You got to pick one or
(14:19):
the other. You got to choose your poison.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Okay, I'll hear that. So what you do is you just.
Speaker 4 (14:23):
Get all like and another trickt I do.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
And then go hard on a dessert.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
You could do that.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
It's a balance.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Another thing that you could do is automatically take half
your food to go, so when you order your dish,
you tell them pack up half of it. I'm only
gonna eat.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
What is that going to do?
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Because then you're not eating the whole thing at a
sitting and drink a lot.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Of water too, and then you wind up eating it later.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Yeah, you eat it later, but you're gonna eat something
later anyway. Okay, But I think that just helps. And
that's all.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
I'm knocking it all off.
Speaker 4 (14:53):
That's how you are in life, man, with everything all right? Well,
speaking of which, tell us a secret. Eight hundred two
please call.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Now, not now, but right now, right now, call in.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Please eight hundred two nine two you heard may now.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
This darkest secret.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
He's knocking them all off.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
Oh no, stop it. What but eight.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Hundred two nine fifty one fifty isn't that?
Speaker 4 (15:14):
But now, remember there's no judgment when you tell us
a secret. I am so glad that you were not
here the other day when people were talking about boosting.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
I'm not saying that. You're saying no judgment. I've never
agreed to that.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
That's part of what it is.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
I've never agreed.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
It's a confession.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
So people are telling secrets, and the reason they're telling
us is because they don't want us to judge them.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
They do.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
It's a judgment free zone.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
You're looking for advice.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
Eight hundred two nine fifty one fifty. Call us up,
tell us a secret. It's not going to say anything.
It's anonymous. No one's going to know us you. No
one's going to recognize your voice.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
I know your voice.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
It's way up with Angela, yee.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
This is a judgment free zone.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Tell us a secret, all right, it's way up with
Angela ye. I'm Angela yee and new Mano Mano is
here with that drop.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
I know, I know.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Okay, there we go.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Oh my god, why is a left flap trending?
Speaker 1 (16:03):
What's that?
Speaker 3 (16:04):
I think they're talking about Lebron. They're calling him.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Left flop would Why would they say that?
Speaker 3 (16:08):
I guess because of the game last night. Oh that's rude.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
All right, Well he can handle it. But right now
we're doing tell us a secret. That's where you guys
call us up anonymously.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
She's like a whispering no judgment.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Eight fifty is the number.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
Mayo's good at telling secrets too, Like you have good secrets.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Yeah, just don't blow them up. I'm not please.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
That's why he's a secret. I'm good at keeping a secret.
Half the reason I'm good at that because I forget.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
I'd be like, for some reason, you forgot none of mine,
though I know.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Because yours are so interesting some reason. I'm not gonna lie.
Mayo got some of the best secrets. When you do
your tell all, what you do? What would your what
would your tell all? Because that's gonna be my exit
right there, Enemy number one, tell you baby nick names.
Gotta be involved, people be people. Beating has a woman
(17:00):
ever denied it, like, yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
I've seen that.
Speaker 4 (17:03):
I don't know mane from nowhere like.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Arguing with somebody on it in social media.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
All right, well let's hear your secrets. Hello, what's up
anonymous color?
Speaker 6 (17:11):
Hey, good morning. How's it going?
Speaker 4 (17:13):
You want to tell me a mano a secret.
Speaker 12 (17:15):
I'm in a relationship going on about two years. But
every since it's only fancying came out, I've been I've
been all over it. So I got stubbed. I'd be
stubbing the account when I'm in a relationship.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
So it's kind of low key.
Speaker 12 (17:28):
So you got a only fans no, no, no subbing
to people?
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Are you asking for like private pictures and videos? Are
you just subscribing and looking at people?
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Subscribe?
Speaker 13 (17:42):
Just subscribe it nothing crazy?
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Is it anybody you know?
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Or is it all just like you know, maybe Instagram
girls or what? Is it?
Speaker 1 (17:49):
A little bit of both? Who you subscribe to? You
know who you subscribe to? See if I know anybody?
Speaker 12 (17:54):
I ain't trying to give out no information.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
Man, What do you think your girl would do if
she found out?
Speaker 12 (18:02):
He found out before a transaction in my account? One
time it didn't go so well, but it.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Didn't go so well. How much do you spend about.
Speaker 6 (18:12):
I'll say, like fifty a month?
Speaker 4 (18:16):
Bad, it's not crazy, all right.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
How many accounts as that though?
Speaker 12 (18:20):
I mean they only like five hours account. So I'll
say about an account, I mean, I don't think that
that's really a bad thing.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Though, that's your thing.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
You're only fans.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
No, never, I don't have noscription bad thing. And then
you what I'm saying. No, I mean, I don't think
that that's a bad thing in.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
It, right, you're not doing that.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Ship like, it's not like you're doing nothing with these girls,
do you? Are you like cheating on your girl?
Speaker 6 (18:46):
No?
Speaker 1 (18:46):
No, no, yeah, that ain't Is that cheating. That's not cheating.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
That's not cheating. He's not meeting up with them or anything.
He's just looking.
Speaker 12 (18:54):
He thinks I'm paying money for it.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
He's spending money on it. It's only fifty a month.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
It's not crazy. But I would feel weird if it
was people that you know, and I'm like, why are
you looking at this? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Definitely people may no knows he knows everyone somehow.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
All right, Well, I appreciate.
Speaker 12 (19:10):
Y'all though, man may know you my god, many'll thank
you your third.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
I don't think that's a bad thing, though, yeah it's not.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
I wouldn't be mad.
Speaker 1 (19:19):
Some women would be mad, though.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
You know what to be mad about a guy hiding
it because I don't know, And I wouldn't kind of
feel weird if it was like girls that he knows
in real life. Like what if his coworker has an
only fans and he subscribed to that.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
That's crazy. If the co worker got only.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
Fans, then I would be like, Okay, now what's going
on here?
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (19:37):
But what but what is he doing with those with
those movies? Is he uh going?
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Probably it's like what's important?
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Right? So she may have a problem with.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
That, Like if it's people you know, Yeah, if it's
people you don't know, fine, you.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Could waiting that over there with yourself.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
You could have get a get out, we could have
went to dinner.
Speaker 14 (19:53):
No, I'm talking about what you doing with that? Yeah, man, no,
don't do that signal you could have had some bedy
cake that money turn Mike, turn, Mike. I might needs
to be turned off for real.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Hey him is calling? Tell us a secret?
Speaker 11 (20:17):
How you doing?
Speaker 6 (20:18):
I'm so happy to meet you. My secret is I'm
a boytender. It ain't that many. It ain't that many
male boytenders. Why why I stay it?
Speaker 11 (20:29):
Man?
Speaker 6 (20:29):
When I'm at work bartender, a lot of women take
advantage of me, and I'll let them do it.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
No, why are you laughing?
Speaker 11 (20:37):
Now?
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Are you sad about this?
Speaker 2 (20:38):
All?
Speaker 1 (20:38):
You feel like?
Speaker 11 (20:39):
You know?
Speaker 1 (20:39):
It is what it is?
Speaker 6 (20:40):
It is what it is, man, you know what I'm saying. Like,
you know, it's hard to say no. Who You've got
a beautiful woman trying to say.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Hey man, hey, hey, live your life.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
Brother, So do you have are you in a relationship
or is this okay?
Speaker 9 (20:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (20:53):
I feel like I feel like it's okay. I just
feel as long as you're being saving what you're doing,
you know what I'm saying, It's all good.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
That's right man.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Okay, Well, thank you for sharing.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Let those women have their way with you.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
Bro may are ready to be a bartonder?
Speaker 6 (21:06):
Hey man, it's a pleasure to meet all to you.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
It's a pleasure to.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
Meet than you. He's very charming. Pay anonymous. Color you
want to tell us a secret?
Speaker 13 (21:16):
Yes, I'd love to get yourself.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
Okay, we're listening.
Speaker 13 (21:19):
Every time me and my co workers got the opportunity
to do what we do, we go do it right
in the restaurant.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
That's nice.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
Oh my gosh, you're your co worker. And neither of
you are in a relationship, right are you? Guys both single?
Speaker 13 (21:30):
So we are. Damn. I don't even know she in
a relationship.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
It don't matter, right, don't matter, It really doesn't matter.
Speaker 13 (21:37):
We're doing that thing.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
We have a part his cameras at work.
Speaker 13 (21:42):
It ain't no cameras that work as fall attack. All right,
Well yeah, yeah, we're working a little parks department. We
got the key too on the doors. Any opportunity we
get to the supervisor to drop us off, do y'all.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Ever do it outside of work?
Speaker 13 (21:57):
No, no, we haven't. Never actually meet up try to work.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
It's probably not fun.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
It's only fun at work.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
It's fun at work because not supposed to.
Speaker 13 (22:04):
Be doing that makes me come on time.
Speaker 14 (22:10):
All right, and I'm looking for today fringe benefits of
the job.
Speaker 13 (22:19):
Wait to get beef co work benefits.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Thank you for sharing, all right, I'm going all right,
Well that was tell us a secret Mano's favorite.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Yes, oh man, it's so hard.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
For him to not judge. But we're gonna work on that.
We'll keep on working on it. We'll keep on working
on it. But when we come back, we have yet
and we'll tell you what Littl Wayne has to say
about Ja Moran situation. It's way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 5 (22:45):
Sure she's about to blow the lead off this, but
get Angela's feeling that.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeez, Come and get the tea.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
All right, It's way up with Angela. Yee, Angela yee.
And we got my guy Maino here. Hey, I love
his job.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
You know what's crazy.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
I had the women that originally the phrase come up
here and do that, your riginal crew, the original crew.
You see what I do for you, Mano.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
That's what friends do, right.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
All right, Well, let's get into this yet.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
Little Wayne was on the All the Smoke podcast and
he had some things to say about John Morant. Here's
what he had to say about Ja Morant being under
fire after being caught waving a gun on social media
for the second time in three months.
Speaker 15 (23:28):
The best I could do is remember when I was
younger and money around me, and we were at the
age where they don't have money. I'm the one with
the money. When I gotta go by stunning them and
go to work and all that they gotta go back to, man,
who they gotta be im saying that to say there
in the streets.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
And I was aware of that. So if I was
going through.
Speaker 15 (23:48):
Something at that point in time, something public like with
Slam going through, I could imagine the rebellious attitude I
would have if my home is just egging attitude on.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
Right, he goes he's on to talk about it. He said,
we're tripping if we expect him to be responsible.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Yeah. I don't think we expect him to be super responsible,
but I mean this is borderline.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Dumb, right, Just don't fumble the bag.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Like, yeah, come on, like common sense, you know what
I mean? We know we listen, nobody is above being checked, right,
and we all make mistakes. And I ain't no greater
than anybody. I made super mistakes, but come on, man,
like the opportunity is greater than any problem.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
Yeah, And I just think that he's not going to
get canceled for this. He wasn't canceled before. It's just
a punishment that's gonna end up happening.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
You're just making it hard on yourself.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Yeah, So you know, there it is. I know a
lot of people have been on both sides of this, right,
there's a lot of people strongly defending him and getting
mad if you have anything to say like that he's
being irresponsible.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
And then there's on the.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
Other side of people are going really hard at condemning
him and going hard at it. But the two to
the matter is you got caught doing this before, you
got a slap on the risk for that. Now you're
getting a harder slap on the risk right this time around.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
So hopefully this will be the end of it.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Hopefully we want to see you win, bro.
Speaker 4 (25:11):
Yeah, yeah, because I don't see anybody saying he should
never play again.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Nah, ain't. I ain't full condemning him. I'm thinking, like,
you know, like let's get it together, like talk to
who you need to talk to, whoever it is that
you respect, like you know, get some of that game,
and just start to make better decisions around your career.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
But I do agree with little Wyn when he said
it's not going to be the sports pundits necessarily that
are going to be the ones.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Nah, not at all, not at all, jail right. Jalen
Rose understands it from both angles, and he's he's definitely
somebody that I think he should talk to. But it
has to be people that you that you respect, because
when you're young and you see things the way you
see it, you know, everybody is not free to just
come talk to you.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
All right, now, let's talk about Ari and she has
her show Dinner with the Don, her cooking show. Queen
Naja was the guest on this episode nice and he
was talking about why she doesn't want to officially get
married to money bag. Y'all listen to this.
Speaker 16 (26:06):
I want to be married without the ring, I mean,
without the papers, like I don't want to sign. I
just to be like God, to be something going like
and now you you won't have my money and my.
Speaker 7 (26:20):
So you know his dad mama will come back to me.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
That's a very practical way to think, like money. Yeah,
because that is true. She was like got eight.
Speaker 1 (26:34):
Once you locked in, you locked in, you locked in
with everybody else. So if he's up for.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
My money, is your money, and now your net work
goes up, and now that child support goes up because
it's my responsibility to and financially, people have to understand, yes,
when you get married, if that person has debt, that's y'allah.
If that person has bad credit, that's y'all bad credit.
When it's time to buy a house and it's time
to do all of those things, it's got to get
cleaned up together. And just because Glorilla tweeted out, so
(27:01):
y'all believe in marriage in this generation, I just couldn't
see myself f with one N word for too long.
And we're start endwording after the first six months, and baby,
I'm gonna start endwording right along with an N word.
I like that.
Speaker 1 (27:15):
I like that. I like that. Listen. I like that people, uh,
they speak their truth. Man.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
Yeah. And I just think the younger generation does look
at marriage differently. Now. It's not marriage is not just
about I love you, let's get married.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
It's illegal.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
It's a business, business, right, contract that you're getting yourself into,
so you have to consider all angles.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
I like that everybody knows that everything is not for
every everybody, right.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
There's no pressure, guys. All right, well that is your
yet And when we come back, we have under the radar.
These are the stories that are not front page news stories.
They are flying under the radar, but they are very important. Still.
Speaker 3 (27:51):
It's way up with Angela ye, I got news.
Speaker 5 (27:53):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
Yes, it is way up. Angela Yee, I'm Angela Yee
and Mana was here with me and this time of
under the radar. These are stories that are under the radar.
They may not necessarily be headline stories, but we feel
like they're just as important. Now, you got to be
safe out here. There is a video of a woman.
May no, let me show you in caich you anybody
(28:20):
can't see this, but this is in Miami and she's
being accused of drugging her dates and stealing six hundred
thousand dollars in rolexes. All right. She met the man
at the Dirty Rabbit Barton Winwood on May eighth. She
was invited back to his home around five thirty am.
And that's where please said.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
That's where please said, No.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
She drugged his drink and that's when she made off
with the six hundred thousand dollars in jewelry. After she
met him, she actually got a Rolex daytona rainbow with
diamonds and a sky dweller roles. I love those rainbow
I can only.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Look at you.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
Know that happened to me and Miami before you got
drugged and robs.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
No, I drugged myself.
Speaker 4 (28:59):
Now you yourself.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
No, the girl made off with the roll ups and minds.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Oh so you got drunk or No, I was on
something Molly. Okay, you was on Molly, so you passed out.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
I was out. I was out of my mind, and
then when I woke up, my watch was gone.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
So you never got it back.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
No, No, never got that watch back.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
And you have no idea. Would you recognize this woman
if you ever saw her again?
Speaker 1 (29:26):
I think yeah I would.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
Well, you'll probably never see her again. Yeah, damn, I'm
sorry that that happened. You guys be sick because Memorial
Day weekend is coming up.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Right, and that happens a lot in Miami.
Speaker 4 (29:37):
Yeah. Don't let somebody back to your room like that.
If you have valuables, put it in a safe.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
I learned my lesson, and sometimes that's a hard lesson
to learn.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Yeah, sometimes you got to learn all lessons in life.
Speaker 4 (29:48):
All right. Now, Disney has canceled plans for a one
billion dollar Florida campus. They were planning to build this
office complex in Florida, and it was gonna move more
than two thousand jobs to that state. Now, yesterday, the
Disney Parks chairman Josh Tomorrow told employees that the company
decided not to move forward with the massive office complex
because of new leadership and changing business conditions. And this
(30:11):
is all you know, with this ongoing dispute with the
Florida Governor Rond DeSantis. So, Disney CEO said that that
has raised questions about the company's continued investment there. So
because yeah, in Florida. So last year Desanta signed a
bill stripping the company of self governing authority over its
forty square mile property near Orlando. And that was after
(30:32):
the former CEO pledged to help overturn the state law
banning discussions of sexual orientation and gender identity in schools.
Can you imagine that that is two thousand jobs that
would have moved there and a one billion dollar campus
that is now not happening, all because of you wanting
to the governor wanting to make these changes that are
(30:52):
I feel like he's out of control. Yeah, he's out
of control. And he's going to be announcing that he's
running for president next week. All right, Now, here's a
good story. Let's do one good story. Elijah Muhammad made history.
This is his name. By the way, Elijah Muhammad. Were honorable, Well,
he is honorable, but not that honorable Elijah Muhammad. He
(31:14):
accepted his diploma from Oklahoma City Community College on Saturday.
He's thirteen years old and he is the youngest with
the college degree. His sister said, he is the smartest
person I know, So congratulations to him. His family said,
he became the youngest black student to graduate college with
a degree in computer science and cybersecurity.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
That's nice, that's dope.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
So let's end that with a good story for Friday.
I love that his name is Elijah Mohammad. Yeah, all right,
well that is you're under the radar now. You know.
It's a Friday, and that means we got a party,
so we got the way up mixed coming at the
top of the hour.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Plus Belly is going to be joining us.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
It is a Friday, so that means there is new
music out today, and he has his album out.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
That's his album Mumble Wrap too.
Speaker 11 (31:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
We listened to that.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
Yeah, we listened to that together.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
He also had said that he plans to retire, so
we're gonna find out what his plans are when it
comes to music, He's not going to be doing maybe
any more albums, but he does have some other big
plans that I think are really important that he has
going on. He's passionate about something else. You're gonna love
this Mano. I feel like you could partake in this
new Mayna. It's way up with Angela yee, they.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
Says the rooms from industry shade to all the gossip
out send Angela's feeling.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
That, yes, it is way up with Angela yee. I'm
Angela Yee and new mana Yeah is in the building. Okay,
and it's a Friday, So let's set this ut off
with some positivity, all right. Luda Chris got his star
on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the ceremony was yesterday,
so you can see. He was joined by his family
(32:51):
as well as supporters like l O Cool Jay, Queen Latifa,
Vin Diesel and Tyresee and congratulations to him.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
Here's what he had to say at the ceremony.
Speaker 17 (33:00):
Last, but not least, who's been on this journey with
me since day one?
Speaker 1 (33:04):
Besides my mother and my god mother's my.
Speaker 17 (33:06):
Management, Ebony's son management, Shaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon are
here today. I've never said this before since my father
passed away a while ago, that all this success and
everything that I'm doing today, besides my mama, y'all helped me.
Speaker 18 (33:23):
Y'all help raise me.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Man.
Speaker 17 (33:25):
Hey, both the fathers that I never had and we've
been rocking for twenty three years straight, never had a contract.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
That's loyalty.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Oh, that's nice. And it was nice that he also
got very emotional when his oldest daughter, because his against
four daughters, he's a girl dad for sure, she was
there karma and she actually also was going to share
some thoughts and he got super emotional when that happened.
And here's what else he had to say while he
was getting his his star.
Speaker 17 (33:52):
This means that I've made my mark. That's how I
feel my own personal history being documented, and to be
amongst these names is just amazing to me. I went
from being a young man with a dream to have
in my name cemented in one of the most visited
places on earth. So getting a star as a statement,
but be clear about this statement. The even bigger statement
(34:12):
to me is that we are all interconnected and I
am a culmination of the people who showed up for
me today, believing in me and pushing me to inspire me.
I'm a reflection of you.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
Oh that is so nice. I like that and the
fact that it meant so much to him. People always
be acting like these honors and things. Oh, you know,
I just do the work. But it's so nice when
you can get acknowledged and be in some you know,
whoever would think like he started off doing radio, you
would have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Yeah, that's Majia.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
All right.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
Now some other positivity. Shaquille o'neillan, Kareem abdul Jabbar. They
finally buried the hatchet. I think they spoke in February
for the spoke.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
In February for the first time. But that wasn't physically.
That was briefly over a zoom.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
Okay, And how does all this beef start? Like almost
thirty years Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
From my understanding, when Shaq was back in LSU, when
he was in college, they had brought Kareem on to
be kind of like a mental form and he was
like kind of like trying to school almost certain things.
You know.
Speaker 11 (35:13):
You know.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Kareem known for that that skyhook and he was trying
to get give that game the shack about that skyhooking man.
He was cocky about I'm dunking everything. I'm stronger in everybody,
I'm backing them down and I'm dunking everything. See. They
didn't actually speak since then, and Kareem got I guess
he just felt like, you know what, falling back from
(35:35):
this young dude, he gonna learn right and and I
guess he learned on his own, but he matured.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
Yeah, all right, Well they finally had to sit down
tough love Shaq and Kareem. That was on TNT on Wednesday.
And here is a little bit of what happened.
Speaker 11 (35:48):
How are you an apology? I think it was four
years ago we were walking down the hall at the
final four.
Speaker 13 (35:54):
Huh.
Speaker 11 (35:54):
I thought that you didn't like me, But you explained
to me the story on how that all folded. But
you came to work with me at LSU and then
my father had made some crazy comments. Your father said
that forget that hook shot, you just dunk everything.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
I couldn't teach you if you were going to do
that or take that approach.
Speaker 11 (36:12):
I was frustrated because I wanted a closer relationship with you.
The fact that you wouldn't look at me, you wouldn't
talk to me, that just motivated me.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
Wow. Wow, we might have to organize and sit down
with you and somebody who you don't get.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
Along the list that just keeps growing.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
We need to do one because look, you could be thankful,
Shack said, he's really thankful that this conversation happened.
Speaker 11 (36:39):
If I showed you any disrespect, I apologized because I
wasn't raised like that.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
And you're out there in the middle of the trenches
battling man.
Speaker 11 (36:46):
You showed everybody that you could grow and mature, and
that's why the success came. I'm fifty years old now.
I've been waiting for the day since eighteen years old,
just to have a conversation. You cursed me out, you
bullied me, you beat me around, but just to talk
to you. We've never you've never talked this long.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Who can we organize you with?
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Let me say, I mean like you and Jim Jones
used to have issues and y'all squashed it. Yeah, I
did a whole project, you know.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
But the thing we didn't know each other, and you know,
sometimes when you meet each other, when you meet somebody
you don't you don't like them for all the wrong reasons.
You think you don't like him, so that doesn't count
because we you know, that's my brother.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
This is really funny when I just googled this, this
is story from twelve years ago. You had a connotation
with Big Sean. Never it says you called little Sean.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Never had a conversation. See that was that's graduated. Never
had a conversation.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Big Jean cleared up the awkward incident.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
He said that despite Mano once referring to him as
Little Sean, he never really knew they had any b
respects Mano for being a g And then it came
to me like a man right, we never why did
you call Big Sean little Sean?
Speaker 1 (37:54):
It was a typo.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
All right, Well we're going to organize one of these
because I want to be able to sit at here
on way up with you and be like for fifteen
years and didn't speak to X, Y and Z and

Angela Yee. And may now it's here right yeah, there
it goes.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
And of course we're going to be talking about new music.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
All right. We'll tell you what albums to look out
for today. Now, yesterday you were with Connie Diamond.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
Yes, shout out to Connie Diamond.
Speaker 3 (38:46):
For her album released Underground Season.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
Yeah, Underdog Season.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
Underdog Season, sorry, Underdog Season. So that is out today.
Also out today we have Summer Walker. Now this was trending.
It's Summer Walker and j Cole and this song on
the album her Clear to Softly Ep. He references doing
another album that he's working on, the fall Off. Okay,
(39:13):
so listen to this, ms Walker.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Thank you for more on the verse from me.
Speaker 4 (39:17):
Apologies for the wait sometimes. Okay, that sounded dope like
that to Summer from Cole. You can see where he
got that idea from. Also, here is more Summer Walker
New Type featuring Childish Gambino.
Speaker 18 (39:32):
I'm ugly, but I'm interesting.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
I like that the summer Walker. You know, I love
some Summer Walker.
Speaker 1 (39:44):
Interesting.
Speaker 4 (39:45):
Now, also out today is Belly with Mumbo Rap too,
and he's going to be joining us very shortly too
to talk about this album. You know, he did say
that he's going to be retiring. He put that on
social media and we'll get more into that. I believe
he's doing three projects and then uh, he said he's done.
But here is Belly featuring Rick Ross with Cocaine Spoon.
Speaker 19 (40:08):
But she goes first to the whole thing so she
don't never eat, but she got a cocaine spool.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Yeah, Belly said, the industry has taken his toll on him.
Now you heard Rick Ross on there. I see Rick
Ross and VI. You're having a back and forth right
now about their car shows. I don't know if it's
really serious. It ain't real, all right, So they're just
joking like it's real as serious would be the same.
You finished are done.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
They're just having a little probably sportsman back and forth.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
Also, fast en fast and furious that that soundtrack is
out today. There's a lot of features on here. Obviously
BA is on here, Dave Bobbin, Alie Chappa and Nardo Wegg, Babyface, Ray,
Baby Tron and Peasy Here's one of the tracks is
called Angel Part one, Kodak Black and Analie Chopper and
Money Long He's gonna be family no matter what wait
(40:59):
until And speaking of Coda at Black, he did announce
a new album by the way, he posted on his
social media page, Pistols and Pearls May twenty six, twenty
twenty three. Thanks to everyone that's been on this journey
with me, lovin and thugging. I couldn't find peace without
all the violence.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
He couldn't find peace without violence. I like that.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
I know you do.
Speaker 1 (41:20):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
Also, Kate Sanada and Amine has their Khamenei album out
today as well, and we also have new posts Malone.
He talked about this and this song is called Morning Sober.
The son is killing my Buzz's why they call it
morning all right?
Speaker 3 (41:40):
So that is your new music for Friday.
Speaker 4 (41:43):
And since we talked about this just now, we have
an interview with Belly on the way now. Belly has
tweeted out that his next three albums will be his last, right.
He said, this industry has taken its toll on me,
but he does have a plan and he does have
something that he's passionate about. Uh So we're gonna talk
about all of that in the interview when we come back.
It's way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 2 (42:04):
You ride way up with Angela ye.
Speaker 4 (42:06):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (42:07):
It's way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 4 (42:08):
And we have a great guest here today, Belly is here.
Speaker 18 (42:12):
What's up? What's up? What's up? What's going on?
Speaker 4 (42:14):
Mumble wrap two is and so And there's so much
going on in your life right now. So yeah, I'm
trying to decide where to start. First of all, you
did get married, So congratulations, thank you.
Speaker 18 (42:24):
Thank you.
Speaker 19 (42:25):
The wedding's officially this summer. But yeah, I mean we're married,
all right.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
All right, so she's already your wife.
Speaker 18 (42:29):
Yeah. The wedding's is gonna be a celebration of us.
Speaker 9 (42:32):
You know.
Speaker 3 (42:32):
So what was that engagement like?
Speaker 4 (42:34):
Because I know people always think about, like if they're
lanning to get engaged, how they're going to do it?
Speaker 18 (42:37):
How'd you do it?
Speaker 19 (42:38):
It was like this place in North California that she loved,
and it was like impossible to get reservations. It was like,
you know, months ahead, I was trying to get couldn't
get reservations. A couple of years ago on her birthday,
I just had somebody reach out and I got the reservation,
you know. So we went up there big sir, California.
(43:00):
So like you're like super high up ocean views and
it's like the it's like the most western point of California.
Speaker 4 (43:07):
Like I never even heard it, but that's how you
know I'm not at that level. Yeah, but go ahead.
Speaker 19 (43:12):
So we had this spot called the Post Engine and
then I had like a plane, right, will you marry me?
Speaker 4 (43:19):
Oh my gosh. And then if I was there with somebody,
i'd have been like, oh yeah, that's he could have
been like that's for you, even though it wasn't all right.
Speaker 3 (43:26):
So you had a plane, right will you?
Speaker 4 (43:27):
Maw? Does how much does that cost?
Speaker 18 (43:29):
But hold on on, you gotta get like a permit.
Speaker 19 (43:31):
Don't let me sound all like it we went perfect,
because it went anything but perfect. The w ended up
looking like some cheeks and then okay, it was but
it made the situation.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
Yeah yeah, but no.
Speaker 19 (43:49):
It was crazy because it actually made because of like
the person she is and why I'm marrying her, you
know what I mean. Shout out to my wife Dina
like we ended up it ended up being better than
it went that way. She's not the fairy tale type
of person. Like when I asked her to marry me,
she said duh. She didn't say, you know, she said yeah,
now she said duh, Like I was like, you know,
(44:10):
she's from New.
Speaker 18 (44:10):
York, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (44:11):
So all right, we are talking to Belly right now
about his Mumbo Wrap two album available today.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
Let's tick back into some of.
Speaker 4 (44:22):
Your history too, because you're from Palestine and then you
came to Canada, to Ottawa, and what age were you,
like seven? Was it seven years old? So when you
left Palestine, what was the situation that had you go
to can your family go to Canada.
Speaker 19 (44:37):
I mean I was, I was super young leaving Palestine.
I think just in general was bouncing around like a
lot of Palestinian families had to do. We spend time
in Saudi Arabia and the Jordan. But you know, I
think coming to Canada it was like a culture shock
of a lot of things. It was, you know, so
many luxuries I guess that they had I didn't even
(44:59):
know existed. The first time I saw a microwave was
when I came to Canada used to heat.
Speaker 4 (45:04):
So we don't even think about.
Speaker 19 (45:06):
Like on the fire stove, Like you just turned the
stove on and put the bread on. That's how we
used to heat it up. And I was like, wow,
you just put this thing in. Thirty seconds later it
comes out and the.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
Bread is it might not be good for you, but
you know it's convenient.
Speaker 18 (45:17):
It's good for my timing, right right.
Speaker 19 (45:19):
But yeah, it was a lot of little culture shock
like that, and confusion amongst people, not like not knowing
what I was, like what the influx of immigrants that
came in, so they didn't really know what we.
Speaker 18 (45:31):
Were, right, So it was like that. It was like
a lot of that, you know.
Speaker 4 (45:35):
And then you start listening to hip hop and I
saw you said that that's really how you learn English
listening to Biggie.
Speaker 19 (45:40):
A lot of that, Yeah, a lot of that. I
was I was talking crazy when I was a kid.
Speaker 4 (45:44):
And what do they think about hip hop when you
started listening to it in the house and then when
they realized this is something that you wanted to pursue.
Speaker 19 (45:51):
My mom was more supportive, but they're both super supportive
of whatever I wanted to do. You know, my older
brother was in the streets, so every day he was
it was a different court case they had to go
to and this that, and they were like, oh, you
found something that's positive that you want to do.
Speaker 18 (46:06):
Okay, how about the does this stick to that?
Speaker 4 (46:09):
All right? We are talking to Belly right now about
his Mumbo Wrap two album available today. You also had
tweeted recently that you feel like this is going to
be your last out of three albums, So talk to
me about that. Because you've had such a successful career
so far. Obviously people love you, but why is it
that you feel like, Okay, I'm just done with this
(46:29):
business man.
Speaker 18 (46:31):
It's hard to say this without sounding ungrateful.
Speaker 4 (46:34):
It's okay, I think as a human being, because sometimes
people also feel like just because you've done well and
you've made a lot of money, that that means that
you're really happy. But I look at it like you've
done well, you made a lot of money. You have
the right to choose what your path is going to be.
Speaker 19 (46:48):
Yeah, but I think like I'm past thinking that I'm
gonna do like what I set out to do with rap.
When I was setting out to start this career, I
was in my mind I was like, yeah, I'm gonna
be jay Z, And you know, I got to meet
jay Z and sign to jay Z and have jay
Z tell the world that I'm nice, you know what
I mean. So that was an amazing accomplishment itself.
Speaker 18 (47:12):
But for me, that's you know, that ain't enough.
Speaker 19 (47:14):
Like so now I think I'm at the point where
I'm like, look, you know, I was able to put
a lot of people in some great positions. You know,
I was able to create music even though it didn't
have my name on it when it came out, I
was able to create music that still feels like mine
and went to the top of the mountain. So then,
you know, I just think about purpose. Maybe the exact
(47:35):
purpose I wanted out of this isn't what I got,
but everything else that came with it has changed my
life and the life of everybody around me. And so
that's why I say, like, I don't want to sound
ungrateful saying that, you.
Speaker 18 (47:47):
Know what I mean, but yeah, I did it.
Speaker 19 (47:49):
We're I did expect more one hundred percent out of
my hip hop career.
Speaker 18 (47:53):
I did expect more.
Speaker 19 (47:54):
I did expect a bigger tours. I did expect I
had one number one on rhythmic single. I expected number
one singles. I expected because I'm right in this stuff.
Speaker 4 (48:05):
Yeah, and you're seeing for everybody else and.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
There's one biggest charting hits.
Speaker 19 (48:10):
Yeah, And it's like when it's someone else's face and
name on it, you know, from from the wide array
of artists I've worked with, it's like it always makes
me be like, okay, so why doesn't why isn't it
the same when I put it out?
Speaker 4 (48:21):
But you know, like you said, you when you came
in here, you do what you want to do, right,
And so sometimes you feel like people have to play
the game a little in order to get to a
certain point.
Speaker 3 (48:31):
And if you and you're not willing to do that.
Speaker 18 (48:33):
Yeah, no, you're right, absolutely right. And she was just
like shut up, yeah no.
Speaker 1 (48:40):
But that that really is too.
Speaker 18 (48:41):
That's a huge part of it, that is that.
Speaker 19 (48:43):
I don't like to play the game. And then I
think the comfort that came with being like, oh I
could just write songs, yeah.
Speaker 4 (48:49):
You can, you know, And but you're still gonna write
even if you're not putting out your own albums. Are
you done completely well well writing?
Speaker 19 (48:56):
I think I got probably no exaggeration, I got probably
five thousand reference songs that have never seen the light
of day.
Speaker 18 (49:05):
So like we've been going through them, like me and
my team and going.
Speaker 19 (49:07):
Through them being this a lot, yeah, and being like, look,
there's no reason any of this should be sitting inside
hard drives anymore. I don't like taking sessions too much anymore.
Like it's just you're you're putting too much on on
on one moment, you know what I mean, Like you're like, oh, yeah,
this person wants to come in and he needs to.
Speaker 4 (49:23):
Hit That's a crazy request too, you got six hours.
Speaker 19 (49:26):
It's like, what, Like, I'm supposed to create something that
lives on forever six hours?
Speaker 18 (49:31):
Cool?
Speaker 19 (49:31):
It happens sometimes, but none of us are like miracle workers,
you know. So I'd rather have this archive and have
so many things that you could choose from and pick
from and already be like I need something like this,
and I could just be like boom, here you go.
Speaker 4 (49:44):
All right, We're talking to Belly. We got more with
him when we come back. His album is out today,
Mumbo Wrap two. It's Way Up with Angela.
Speaker 2 (49:50):
Yee back at it. Bring in the Way Up with
Angela Yee.
Speaker 4 (49:57):
Is on What's Up? Way Up with Angela Yee and
we have belly here. You went through a time where
you you took a break from music. I feel like
twice you did that, Like you took.
Speaker 18 (50:06):
A break from the time incoming.
Speaker 4 (50:07):
Yeah, there're time okay the way. So do you think
this one coming up it could be just a break? Maybe?
Speaker 18 (50:13):
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
You don't think so this is different?
Speaker 19 (50:15):
I don't think so, because I think I filled the
void with something else. You know, I'm working on writing
TV and film stuff now. Yes, I got five, probably
four or five projects greenlit already based on just concepts
and ideas I had that I put on paper.
Speaker 18 (50:29):
You know.
Speaker 3 (50:29):
That's a great transition.
Speaker 18 (50:31):
It's amazing, you know.
Speaker 19 (50:32):
And I built a creative compound in Woodland Hills, California.
I got all my original collaborators there. Every single day
we're working on things that we don't normally work on
scores and soundtracks and you know, stuff for TV, for
film and for podcasts startups. That to me is like
what excitement is Now, that's amazing. I wake up in
(50:54):
the morning it's like six thirty. My wife's like, where
are you going. I'm going to the compound.
Speaker 4 (50:58):
Something to be passionate about Yeah. You know, so there
was a period of time where you said that you
were really going through it. You suffer from PTSD, and
you started going to therapy. Do you think that therapy
is what made you realize that it was time to
make that transition? How did that affect you and how
did it affect your work and even being able to
identify what you were going through because, like you said,
(51:18):
sometimes people look at you and be like, well, don't
be ungrateful. You have all these great things happening and
you've made it. But how did therapy change your perspective?
Speaker 18 (51:26):
I mean, therapy made me realize a lot of things.
Speaker 19 (51:28):
First of all, they tried like the medicine route at first,
and I realized it wasn't for me, Like I was
just you know, some people works for it, God bless them.
I was on autopilots so much I just needed to
like hash out what was happening in here.
Speaker 4 (51:41):
How did the medication make you feel? Though?
Speaker 19 (51:44):
Just basic everyday things that I used to you know,
be at least I think skilled at you know what
I mean, Like just cooking and stuff like that, Like
you know, my wife will find me in front of
the stove just like dazed out and whatever I'm cooking
is like burning on the stove, you know.
Speaker 4 (51:57):
Like zombie ish.
Speaker 19 (51:58):
Yeah, so she was just like, you know, I don't
think she's a doctor herself. So she was like, I
don't think this is for you, Like you need to
figure something else out, and yeah, I think just having
good conversations and like actually stopping once in a while
and being like, hold on, let me just.
Speaker 18 (52:12):
Assess what's happening.
Speaker 19 (52:14):
Because when you're running on autopilot, our own brains have
like this defense mechanism of being like, you know, shut
this off, put this way back here, and then put
this over here, and put this here because.
Speaker 18 (52:24):
We need to go this way.
Speaker 19 (52:25):
And then we never stop, and you know, by the end,
it's like so much baggage holding us down. We don't
even know because we never stopped to just assess it
and figure it out. I had a great therapist. I
was lucky, Like she was actually my second therapist. I
didn't too much enjoy the conversations with like the first one.
Speaker 4 (52:41):
Yeah, that could turn some people love too. When they
get their first therapist is like a real relationship. If
it doesn't work, you'd be like therapy is not for me,
but it is the right therapist too.
Speaker 18 (52:50):
Yeah, it is absolutely not.
Speaker 19 (52:52):
I'm gonna say that, like, if you tried therapy and
it didn't work, try somebody else, because that's what I did,
and she really changed my life in the way that
she would give me perspective on stuff that I couldn't
give myself perspective on.
Speaker 4 (53:04):
You know, all right, we are talking to Belly right
now about his Mumbo Wrap two album available today. Did
a lot of people reach out to you because it
seems like you're such a private person, but you did
go to social media to share your experience, and so
when that happened, like who were some of the people
that hit you up to be like, bro, what's going on?
Speaker 19 (53:21):
I saw Jay at the Rock Nation offices and like
we had like this normal conversation and after everybody kind
of walked away, he just he grabbed me.
Speaker 18 (53:29):
And was like, Yo, you good, Everything's all right.
Speaker 19 (53:31):
And I was actually one of the turning points for
me because, like I said, that's somebody I look up
to so much, and I was like, I can't have
a hole looking at me like this and not like
he was looking at me shamefully in any way, but
I just didn't want to. You know, it's probably like
the wrongest way to look at it, but I was
just like, no, I gotta figure it out.
Speaker 4 (53:47):
Because there's a lot of power and admitting you're not
okay too. Absolutely, Well, let's talk about the new project
a little bit. All right, Let's talk about American Nightmare
and what the process was for that and what made
you come up with this. What was going going on
in your life at that time, you know, with your family,
with everything, what made you come and write American Nightmare.
Speaker 19 (54:06):
I think there was a lot of like anger in
that period because when we first started discussing about you know,
did this thing give me enough back? You know, about
hip hop and all that, and feeling like maybe I
didn't get my just due, And it was a lot
of anger in that like trying to figure those things
out and like fine or consolidate those things with myself somehow.
And I think like this album is definitely my angriest
(54:29):
in terms of life, you know, but it was good
because by the end of the album, it's like my
moment of closure. That's why I love this album because
you could actually feel like the era that I was
in and then you know real laps to outro is
like the closure of all that.
Speaker 4 (54:46):
Well, thank you so much for coming through it. I know,
like you said, you pick and choose what you decide
to do. So it's an honor for me to have
you here.
Speaker 19 (54:51):
No, it's an honor for me to be here. I
think the last time I didn't pull up because it
was it was going to be some sexual conversations on
on your other show. Yeah, mind you, I love I
love the show. But at that time, I think my
engagement had just happened, laws and stuff. I was like,
I'm not about to go into anything right now on
anything right now.
Speaker 1 (55:12):
Let me just let me.
Speaker 4 (55:14):
Just fall back anything on anything.
Speaker 19 (55:16):
Yeah, So I appreciate you having me here and everything.
I've been waiting a long time.
Speaker 4 (55:20):
Okay, after you guys get married, then we'll have you
come on lift service. But that time is done.
Speaker 18 (55:23):
Yeah, yeah for sure. At that point, maybe i'll bring
her on with me.
Speaker 4 (55:27):
We like a couple of s lift service. That'll be
fun and then we can learn more about you. Guys
can learn some things about each other.
Speaker 19 (55:34):
We'll see. I mean, we know we know a lot.
Man that's really my best friend.
Speaker 4 (55:37):
No, that's good. That's beautiful. Congratulations on everything and Mumbo
Wrap two is out, so congratulations and I'm looking forward
to everybody hearing this. Like I said, we were in
here listening to it and it's a quick listen.
Speaker 18 (55:49):
To by the way, Yeah, short and sweet.
Speaker 4 (55:51):
All right, well, thank you so much Belly for coming through.
And when we come back, we have asked ye, me
and Mato. Who is the award winning advice giver that
you all know and love is greatest advice.
Speaker 3 (56:01):
The greatest advice.
Speaker 4 (56:02):
All right, so call us up eight hundred two nine
two fifty one fifty anything you need to know. We're
here to help, no judgment. Right way up at Hedula
yee girl.
Speaker 5 (56:10):
Everybody since with its relationship or career advice.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
Angela's dropping facts.
Speaker 4 (56:16):
This is aske yes, it is way up at Angela yee.
I'm Angela yee. And Mayo is here, no man, Yeah,
we go yeah, and it's time for ask ye Now.
You know, in case you can't get through, you can
always leave a message eight hundred two ninety two fifty
one fifty and that will either be part of ASKI
or will play it at the end of the show.
For last words, so today we have a voicemail.
Speaker 7 (56:39):
I just want to know, like, can.
Speaker 9 (56:40):
Y'all help me out with this? Like I hate when you're.
Speaker 7 (56:44):
Talking to a guy right and they better you up.
Speaker 9 (56:46):
They see on all the right things, they do all
the right things, and then you know when it's time
and you know, move on what you was talking about.
Speaker 4 (56:54):
They don't move.
Speaker 7 (56:56):
Don't tell me what you want through to me and
what we want to do when we're in private, and
then don't do it or do a lot of TVA
and then when it's time to move on the weekend
and do them things on the weekend, you don't get you.
You don't text you on nothing, I mean even texting
you like before I got caught up. So he playing
games right, Oh, he's clean with me. I hate things
(57:18):
like this, like stuff like Jack, did you blocked and
deleted and was probably went over just depending on how
I'm crazy, ran.
Speaker 1 (57:27):
Over you crazy?
Speaker 9 (57:28):
I don't know what he's.
Speaker 1 (57:31):
Yeah, you're crazy. That's why he not calling, That's why
he stop it.
Speaker 4 (57:33):
Well, there's two different questions. Yeah, the first question is
you act like you were freaky talk all this, but
then we get in the bedroom and you lay So
how does one address something like that. Well, I think
that's the perfect time to bring it up in the bedroom.
You got to be like, remember you said you was
gonna do this, Well, let's get to it. That's fun.
Why didn't you want somebody to tell you what to do?
Speaker 1 (57:53):
No? Pretty much, No, I don't work like that. I'm
about all that action. First of all. So what she
should do if if she's not going to be able to,
you know, to be handled correctly, just bring somebody into
bed with them.
Speaker 3 (58:05):
Oh my gosh, man, that is not always the answer.
Speaker 4 (58:08):
Okay, she was this guy to do what he said
he was gonna do.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
Find somebody that's about that action.
Speaker 4 (58:15):
That's it, all right. Well, anyway, I think that you
need to initiate those things and remind him about he
was saying. And you can do it in a sexy
way sometimes. Also, people are better at talking than actually doing.
Speaker 1 (58:27):
And you said you was gonna eat my groceries. I
ain't said nothing like that.
Speaker 4 (58:33):
I was listening to a song.
Speaker 2 (58:36):
Now.
Speaker 4 (58:36):
The other part of the question is we do all
this PDA huggy huggy, kissy, kissy, and then we get
behind closed door. Oh no, we don't get behind closed
doors you disappear for the weekend, right.
Speaker 1 (58:46):
Because he knew that she was a little bit crazy
when she started talking about getting ran over and.
Speaker 4 (58:50):
Backed up on well, it also sounds like he might
have something else going on. Anytime somebody disappears right when
they're supposed to show up and doesn't show up, they're
doing something else.
Speaker 1 (58:58):
What's the same thing sit here right, doing the same
thing that you want to be done to you with
somebody else exactly.
Speaker 4 (59:04):
So I am a big fan of if somebody is
consistently disappearing or being late when you make plans with them.
This is what I used to do. Just make plans
and then I'm too busy. And then when you're like, oh,
I thought we were supposed to do this, You're like, well,
you never show up. So I just agreed to it
and had no idea that it was going to really happen,
so I made other plans. Oh really, Yeah, it always works,
feel like oh damn, well, you you know, you got
(59:27):
something else to do now, and then it makes them
realize that they either have to step it up or.
Speaker 1 (59:32):
So you have like an art to this.
Speaker 4 (59:33):
Yeah, it is. Actually it was more about being late, right.
I had an ex who would like meet plans and
then be late all the time. So I just started
making he made plans with me, I would just make
other plans and do something else. And then by the
time he was trying to show up late, I was
already gone by.
Speaker 1 (59:47):
Over book I could see that I make plans with everybody.
Speaker 4 (59:51):
Overbooking on the deliver. But yes, those are two different issues.
Number one, he's not doing what he says he's going
to do. He just likes to dirty talk, and then
when he gets there he can't perform. He gets intimidated dirty. Yeah,
he's not dirty at all. You promised all these things.
Doesn't sound like a fun weekend person. So yes, if
(01:00:13):
you can't step up to the plate when you remind him, hey,
you said you were going to do this, then be like,
just stop talking to me, because now you're just lying.
Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
He said, find somebody about that action. Life too short
to just not have what you want, like, too short
to be that good.
Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
Yeah, he's just playing games.
Speaker 4 (01:00:28):
