right now that haven't made a plan, that waited till
the last minute to try to figure it out.

Do we stay in? Do we go out?
Speaker 2 (00:55):
A lot more people are staying in because Valentine's Day
is a hectic day to get reservation. You said stay
in staying okay, all right, good advice, and we'll talk
about that because what would you do when you stay
in right for Valentine's Day?
Speaker 3 (01:07):
What are some options.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
But in the meantime, let's shine a light eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Maybe you want to shine a light on somebody.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
You love, your significant other, somebody who's done something special
for you, somebody who makes you feel special. Well, tell
us why. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty.
And for Valentine's Day, let's set it off with some Mario.

It's way up.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
At Angela Yee, I'm Angela yee Meino's in the building.
We already had some Valentine's Day shots. Now let's talk
about shine a light. And today we want to shine
a light on a young black lady, Ashley Lamoth Derby.
At fifteen years old, she worked at Chick fil A,
and at the age of twenty six, she was the
youngest franchise owner in Chicken fil A history. Congratulations to her. Now,
(02:03):
she first opened her first location at University of Southern California.
And you know, in some places Chick fil A was
not a household name, so she did still have to
market and promote, get people to get excited to come there.
And then eventually her location did so well, she was
chosen to do something that Chick fil A doesn't do
very often with franchisers. She got another location in downtown La.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
So we want to shine a light on you. That
is amazing.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
We know it's not easy because at Chick fil A,
you got to work there, you got to do all
these things before you're able to get a location, and
they are super super strict about who they give that
opportunity to. So shout out to Ashley La mat Derby. Now,
who do you guys want to shine a light on?
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty niche who
you want to shine a light on?
Speaker 7 (02:45):
Hey, Angela and Mano. I want to shout out to
my daughter Namaya Boston Okay eight yester yesterday and she's
been doing awesome the school, making all a's and b's
all year.
Speaker 8 (02:59):
I don't want to give a nia.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
And Maya, you are so amazing. Imagine that making all
a's and b's.
Speaker 7 (03:06):
Yes, thank y'all so much. As her talent hall right.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Okay, well, Nia and Mayah, Well, we're signing a light
on you continue.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
To make your mom proud. I just think about how
difficult I was as a child, so I love the
fact that.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
I didn't get all a's and b's. We know, you know,
Mama was still proud.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
What does she want to be when she grows up?
Does she know yet?
Speaker 7 (03:27):
Yes, she says she wants to think her or she
wants to do so we're working.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
On all right.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
I love it teaching the students. Okay, well, thank you
so much for calling thee Happy birthday.
Speaker 8 (03:37):
Niamayah, thank you.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
All right.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Well that was shining Light eight hundred two ninety two
fifty one fifty just in case you couldn't get through.
And when we come back, we have your yee tea.
And let's talk about Killer Mike on the View and
what he had to say about being arrested while at
the Grammys, well at least being in handcuffs.
Speaker 3 (03:53):
Well, talk about it.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
It's way up, yore, she's about to blow the lid
ab off this pot. Let's get it.
Speaker 6 (03:57):
Oh yeah, angelus feeling that, yeezee, come and get it.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
It's way up at angela ye I'm Angela Yee on
a snow day with Mano. Yeah, Maya and was let's
get into some y tea killer. Mike was on the
View yesterday and he talked about his recent arrest at
the Grammys earlier in the month, and here's what he
had to say.
Speaker 5 (04:15):
I think the backstage was overcrowded.
Speaker 6 (04:17):
I think the winners were exuberant, and I think security
got a little over zealous.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
It's water under bent for me.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
I like to say, all of my heroes have been
in handcuffs, Malcolm Martin, Mendela Magriz. I walked out with
the same dignity and respect that I walked in with.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
And he did say he's scheduled to appear in courts
in La February twenty ninth. So he was booked on
a misdemeanor charge following an alleged altercation with a security guard.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
So they what, Yeah, so.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
He won the award and then they got into it.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
Yeah, he did say security got a little over zealous
and backstage was overcrowded, and so that's part of it.
But he did get some good news after that, you know,
he found out that a kidney had been found for
his twenty one year old son who was awaiting a
transplant for year.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
So that's a positive thing. Plusy one three Grammys.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
All right, now, Sizza, she's talking about her new album, Lana.
She was discussing with the Hollywood Reporter. She said, you
gotta let it form itself. I'm not really into forming anything.
I'm just kind of here while energy is forming. I'm
just trying to allow it to do what it needs
to do, and my voice just follows whatever the frequency is.
But she did not comment on the status of Lana.
(05:25):
She said, you know, this round, I actually don't want
to say anything, just because I feel like I do
myself a disservice because you can shift the energy of
the album. She also talked about whether she thought she
was snubbed and should have won Album of the Year
at the Grammys, and she said, I don't.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Actually, I'm grateful I won three.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
I could have left for nothing and I didn't, and
I'm grateful my parents got to see it and I
didn't bomb on live television and that was so scary
and I faced some really big fears and I'm just
happy that it all went well, genuinely, and I'm happy
for everybody.
Speaker 3 (05:52):
So congratulations to Sissa.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
You know, people try to downplay the awards, but if
it means something to you, and if it means something
to your family, then we.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Applaud you for that. All right.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Super Bowl has set ratings records one hundred and twenty
three point four million viewers in overtime, so shout out
to that.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
It's a record breaking super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
They already had blown past viewership records in the weeks
leading up to that Super Bowl and so definitely a
huge one.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
You think it's because of Taylor Swift?
Speaker 4 (06:24):
Partially?
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, partially? Did you get annoyed when they kept flashing
to her? Were you like, whatever.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
I didin't get annoyed. I ain't take it personally, I.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Know people get what Yeah, people get so mad about it.
And companies paid seven million dollars to get a thirty
second spot during the game too, by the way, all right,
and in addition to that, Ushers super Bowl halftime show
has topped a lot of other Super Bowl halftime shows.
They topped Doctor Dre's and Rihanna's viewing figures, so over
thirty million households, which corresponds to about one hundred million viewers.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
In the United States.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
They said that was five percent higher than Rihanna's and
a million more households than to Dre Snoop Eminem, Kendrick
Mary J.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Blige.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
In fifty cents that they did in twenty twenty two,
the Super Bowl was the most washed in history, so
it only makes sense that corresponds with those numbers too. Meanwhile,
according to Brandon Marshall, Kanye West was kicked out of
the Super Bowl stadium by Taylor Swift. You think that's true,
I don't know. Well, here's what Brandon Marshall said.
Speaker 6 (07:20):
Kanye West buys a ticket right in front of Taylor
Swift's booth all here.
Speaker 5 (07:25):
He got a mask phone with his logo on the mats. Right,
Taylor Swift gets pissed.
Speaker 9 (07:29):
Off cheap Boom Boom makes a call or too, he
gets kicked out the stadium.
Speaker 5 (07:32):
He was trying to leverage her celebrity, right.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Because you're right, they're not going to cut to him.
So he's like, I'm going to strategically position myself so
every time they cut over here to her.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Yeah, So I don't know how true that is.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
He said this on the Paper Rout podcast because he
was seen several times after that, at one point with
ty Dallas sign and where Anderson pack in a luxury suite.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
So maybe not in those seats, but he didn't leave.
Speaker 9 (07:56):
Did they ever show him in that area where they
say that he was sitting there in front of her?
Speaker 3 (08:02):
I didn't see him in that area, but you know,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
All right, well, I could see Tayler Swift having the
power to do that, though.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Maybe they moved him from that area. Can you go
out the stadium?
Speaker 2 (08:13):
All right? Well that is your yet when we come back,
we have about last night. These are the stories that
may not necessarily have been. Oh sorry, that's a different topic.
We had one shot, and I don't know what's going
on about last night? Is that's discussing what we did
last night? Is way up last night?
Speaker 5 (08:29):
So about last night? Last night? Last night I went down.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
All right, it's way up with Angela yee. I'm Angela yea,
and mano is here?
Speaker 3 (08:38):
No man about last night? What did you do last night?
Speaker 4 (08:41):
Mayno, I ain't doing much. I was operating from a
long week of being in streets.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
You've been very active and sometimes you need to take
that downtime.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Yes, so I took yesterday down right. So I left
from here and I went home and I stayed home.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
Good for you. I like that. I like that for
you every now and then Now for me.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Last night, I was actually doing lip service because tomorrow
we have ticklet and Millenni on and you've seen all
their sketches and their YouTube, their podcasts, and of course
Millenni and Tickla are both on the Impact New York,
so you get to see them.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Together as a couple.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
They got engaged last year, so that's going to be
our Valentine's Day special that's coming out tomorrow. But there
were some great topics on there when it comes to relationships,
and in particular Valentine's Day. Now, one thing that all
the women in the room, and this is one thing
I haven't done. Everybody said they've sent a guy flowers before.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Don't even play with me like that.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
You don't want flowers? Okay, why not?
Speaker 4 (09:38):
That's not for me.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
You don't like flowers.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
Yeah, you wouldn't think that was sweet if a woman.
All right, well, Valentine's Day is tomorrow, So does that
mean you don't expect anything? No, I expect like gift
you what what's an appropriate a watch.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
No, no, no, no, no, it is.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Your birthday, it's not.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Okay, a nice belt cologne, all right, that's fair. A
belt cologne.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Watch is a little too much.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Yeah, that was a lot, unless it's like inexpensive watch,
like maybe an Apple watch. You can get your Apple watch. Yeah,
because you watch, you'd be doing your little fitness came.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
You can use Apple watch, you know, something like that.
Don't flowers?
Speaker 2 (10:19):
So not like flowers chocolate Teddy Bear because said she
did do that for somebody before and he loved it
and he cried. Now just Pam the comedian said she
sent it to a guy working. He was like, don't
ever do that again.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
You do like that?
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Don't play with me like that. I didn't know guys
don't like flowers.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
That's usually the other way around. I'll send you flowers.
Maybe I send you chocolate.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Okay, you wouldn't like some. You'd like candy.
Speaker 9 (10:42):
Yeah, but I don't want chocolate candy for Valentine's Day.
Send me some cologne, send me some Valentino.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Okay, born in Roma, Valentino. We have this right here.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Yeah, all right, well we want to hear what you
guys have to say, because Valentine's Day is tomorrow. I
know there's some last minute people out there, so is
that more of a holiday for women?
Speaker 4 (10:59):
Though?
Speaker 3 (10:59):
Like, would you be upset up if you didn't get anything.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
The way the world is set up?
Speaker 9 (11:04):
No, I probably wouldn't be upset, but I'll be looking
at you if I got you something, I'm looking at
you like, but that.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Could be something that you got to have a conversation
because Valentine's Day to meet traditionally, do I feel like.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
It's for women?
Speaker 4 (11:17):
No, it's a two way street.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Y'all got sweetest Day and sweetest Day.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
I've never heard of that.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
The third October. I never heard of that, and that's
for men's sweetest Day. So we have Valentine's Day, you
have Sweetest Day. But we want to know what you
guys have to say about this because Valentine's Day is tomorrow.
So men, do you have expectations that you're supposed to
get a gift?
Speaker 3 (11:35):
And women? Are you doing something for your significant other?
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Call us up?
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty is the number?
Do you want to watch?
Speaker 10 (11:44):
You guys?
Speaker 3 (11:44):
All right, it's way up. Eight hundred two nine two
fifty one fifty the.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Way up with Angela ye more Now all right, it's
way up with Angela yee. I'm Angela yee and Mana
was here no morning. I wonder if you're going to
get anything for Valentine's Day?
Speaker 4 (11:59):
Probably not, you don't think so?
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Is that disappointing for you?
Speaker 1 (12:02):
No?
Speaker 4 (12:03):
No, all right?
Speaker 9 (12:04):
But but you would like to, I mean, in a
perfect world. Yeah, okay, because it's it's a it should
be a two way street.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Now, what if because you're not in a relationship, right,
what if several women get you something?
Speaker 3 (12:18):
I mean, and how do you decide who to spend
Valentine's Day with?
Speaker 4 (12:22):
See, now you're going to places you shouldn't be. Yeah,
like for some reason, I knew you was gonna get
me to this place.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
It's uncomfortable, all right. But but the main thing is
that you're not expecting to get anything. But but you
would like to get something for Valentine'sday. And I think
Valentine's Day, I feel like traditionally has been seen as
a holiday for women. I know in the Midwest they
have Sweetest Day and that is a particular holiday for
women to get something for their guy never heard of it. Well, yeah,
(12:52):
it was started I think in Cleveland, and so, yeah,
this is New York, but it's all over the Midwest.
It's in Florida's and Arizona. Maybe something we need to
bring here because all these holidays are made.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Up for Really we need, we need, we need to
put some respect on our name.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
All right, Well let's see what you guys think.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
And I'm definitely the type of person I'll do something
for Valentine's Day, what like maybe get a gift or
maybe actually do something like make food, dinner, plan a
little something special, make it feel special. But what do
you guys done? Fifty fifteen to you getting your man
a gift for Valentine Day?
Speaker 11 (13:26):
Yes, I am going to get himself there hasn't got
it yet the last minute, like you said, start and
set up for Valentine's though, because I was oneer ones
at Valentine's Women.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Well, thank you for coling. You're very sweet.
Speaker 7 (13:44):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Now get to shop in all right, that's the player. Okay, Hey,
mal how are you?
Speaker 12 (13:52):
I just wanted to say I believe it in quality.
My ex and my ex wife used to send me
flowers and and we did the same thing for each other.
And like my homies would be sitting up there like
your girl. I was like, yeah, it's equality.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Did you tell did you tell them that you wanted flowers?
Or they just did it on their own.
Speaker 12 (14:13):
They did it on their own.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Good for you, brother. I don't want no flowers in
the lie. Send me a wallet.
Speaker 12 (14:21):
Yeah, I feel you, I feel you, But no, it
meant something because it meant they went above and beyond
where you don't expect it. Okay, it was plessier.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
All right, Well, I'm glad you feel special. You deserve it.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
Y'all have a great one to have your Valie's Day
to y'all, thank you, thank.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
You so much. Send him flowers? Hey, Danny, how are you?
Speaker 12 (14:39):
Hello?
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Right?
Speaker 12 (14:40):
How's everything?
Speaker 3 (14:41):
I got?
Speaker 12 (14:41):
Me?
Speaker 5 (14:41):
And?
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Man, I want to know what do you think about
Valentine's Day? Do you have expectations? Did you get a gift?
Speaker 12 (14:47):
Not to get a gift?
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Our gift, I think is after dinner and after everything
is done.
Speaker 12 (14:52):
You know a little something something that night, A little
nookie gift, that little nookie exactly, And I'm.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Gonna get that anyway regardless. Yes, says who says, to
watch r some perfume?
Speaker 3 (15:05):
You want it all I want it all.
Speaker 12 (15:06):
You want your cake and to eat it too.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
Absolutely, he'll be eating some cake, all right, you're right
about that? All right, well, thank you, see, thank you, congratulations.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
I appreciate it. Hey Anna, how are you Hi?
Speaker 6 (15:20):
I'm doing good.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
How are you?
Speaker 8 (15:21):
Angela?
Speaker 3 (15:22):
I'm good?
Speaker 10 (15:22):
Thank you?
Speaker 3 (15:23):
And Mana? And I want to know.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
What do you think you're gonna do for your significant
other for Valentine's Day?
Speaker 4 (15:29):
Nothing?
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Or are you gonna get a gift? H?
Speaker 11 (15:33):
I may know?
Speaker 12 (15:34):
Hello?
Speaker 7 (15:35):
For me times day is preserved for the women. Men
have their own day called say can bej say March fourteen?
Speaker 4 (15:42):
We never heard of that day? We never heard of that,
But dare's.
Speaker 8 (15:46):
That it's March fourteenth.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
I don't know. I don't eat steak, but we can
skip to the other day steak, you know. But I'll
tell you what though, if he was in a relationship
with me, you're gonna get me a gift?
Speaker 5 (15:56):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Yes, she's right though, that's a real day. It's official.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
Never heard of that. I've never heard of that.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Yeah, that's you get a steak? Well it is, I said,
google it. It seems like most people, some guys appreciate gifts.
But like she said, y'all got your own day March fourteenth.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
No, I never, that's that's some made up day. I
don't know if that's not verified.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
It's all made up. Like it's all made up.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Nobody has ever said anything about steak in VJs.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Well, I bet you March fourteenth you'll be remembering that.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Okay, all right, Well when we come back, we have
yet and g Herbo says that that funny Marco interview
was actually stage.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
We'll tell you what he had to say about it
on Drink Champ. Let's see if you believe.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
It's the rooms from industry shade to all the gossip
out Angela's speeling that.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
It's way up.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
But Angela, yee, I'm Angela, ye am, Mano is here
on this Gallantine's day.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
In the snowstorm, in the blizzard, in the blizzards.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
All right, well let's get into some yet now.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Ge Herbal was on Drink Cham and he talked about
the funny Marco interview that they did him in South Side.
People were upset about it because they were being so
mean to Funny Marco, even breaking his watch.
Speaker 3 (17:11):
And here's what he had to say about it being
kind of staged.
Speaker 10 (17:14):
Marco first and foremost, like that's my man. Had a
relationship prior to doing the interview. So originally Sizzle was
supposed to did the interview like and they had it
like his production staff told us to like troll them,
like we weren't originally just on board with you know
what I'm saying, But we was a little like off
the sauce.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
So he's.
Speaker 10 (17:36):
A little extra overboard. But the whole thing was to
come on there and like intimidate him on his own show.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
So I can see how that could happen, right, Like
they like troll him, but things got a little bit
out of control, and he admitted that they went a
little overboard.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
It was off the sauce.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
It was just too much, and you know, the interview
went very viral, right, and so afterwards it just feels
like they tried to say it with stage funny.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Marco doesn't agree with that. But here's what he said.
Speaker 10 (18:05):
I spoke to him like before it even came out,
and you know what I'm saying, we was good, like okay,
I mean I ain't know where if it was like
a confusion between odd staff and his production team, it
wasn't like no bad blood, because he was saying like
after it came.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
Out, or like no, I'll take it down.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
I'll take it down, Like well, I ain't never do that.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
It was still all up, all right.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
So there you have it.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
So maybe they're still cool with each other. They are, Yeah,
but funny Marco doesn't seem like.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
He is okay with it. I don't know just from
so just from interviews that he's done. But I don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Maybe he's still playing along with it, or maybe they
went too overboard and he did end up getting offended.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
All right, Now, let's talk about Malaysia from Basketball Wives.
You know, she was previously married to Gennaro Pargo and
the NBA, a former NBA player, and she talked about
she was with Carlos King and she was talking about
filing for divorce and what made her decide she needed
to stand up for herself.
Speaker 13 (19:01):
Are realizing that, like, oh wait a minute, this is
not acceptable behavior. Your husband is not supposed to go
to the club and tell you that the fire marshals
locked him in the club and that's why he didn't
come home last night.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
I'm gonna use that one. Yeah, it was crazy Farm,
Marshalls Games shut down the whole club. We was locked
in there for fourteen hours.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Now, I ain't gonna lie. I did get locked in
the club once.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
I was in Atlanta and there was a shooting in
the club and they made everybody stay inside and wouldn't
let anybody out for hours.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
Right, I've been involved in something, but I think you
would know about it.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Yeah, it's not something like what club do a little
bit of research. All right.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Shannon Sharp and Mike Epps have agreed that they're gonna
talk it talk it out over NBA All Star Weeken
because they're gonna run into each other regardless the back
and forth they had, you know, stemmed from.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
All right, well, Shannon Sharp said, Unk and Mike.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Epps have decided to have a man a man conversation
in India NBA All Star Weekend to discuss our differences.
We both realized this sit could have been should have
been handled differently. I apologize to fan friends, loved ones,
and my fans clubs.
Speaker 3 (20:06):
Shay Sheha. Now let me tell you, Mike, I have
had them to say about even the name Shay Sheha.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
All right, and Tyler Perry has gotten a first look
TV deal with Netflix as they're ordering a Beauty in
Black drama series, so he already has uh this this
deal with them, and now he has.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Part of the new arrangement.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
He's going to be doing a TV deal, so that's
his first green light under the deal. He also has
that BET deal for TV and some people in this
room right here love sisters on BET.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
All right, well that is your yet.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
And when we come back, we have under the radar
and tomorrow is Valentine's Day. But I have to warn
you if you're planning to travel or order food, there
could be some delays and will tell you why.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
And under the radar it's way up.
Speaker 6 (20:53):
The news news. This in the news that relates to you.
These stories are flying under the radar.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
It's way up at Angela Yee, I'm Angela Yee. Manos
in the billion still here, baby, tap of thees under
the radar stories. Now, Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
And for people who are planning to stay in and
perhaps order food, or if you're flying somewhere and you
gotta go see your bay. All right, there's going to
be a strike happening tomorrow. Thousands of driver for drivers
for Uber, Lyft, and door Dash are striking across the
United States. They're seeking fair pay. According to drivers groups,
they said this yesterday. This strike call is the first
(21:31):
since Uber and Lyft when public in twenty nineteen. Drivers
will be picketing outside the airport and also outside of
the Uber offices. And yeah, so these drivers are considered
independent contractors. They say these platforms are taking disproportionately high
amounts as commissions. So when twenty twenty three Uber drivers
monthly average girls fell about seventeen percent, while those of
(21:54):
Lyft drivers actually increased two point five percent.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Wow, you know they've made it a lot harder to
add a tip.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
I noticed also when I'm ordering food, usually you could
put a tip like beforehand, but now now it's always after.
Like I used to always add a tip automatically, but
now once the food gets delivered, then you have to
like go back in go to the receipt. I feel
like it's a little more difficult to add the tip now,
you know, that's just my experience, all right. The number
(22:22):
one mistake people make on their resume.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Have you ever had a resume?
Speaker 4 (22:27):
Manal, Yeah you did, ye?
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Or I haven't so long? That's not what I mean.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
But anyway, the number one resume mistake, according to an
ex Amazon recruiter, is the fact that people give these
Miss America answers. These are simple statements that don't give
much insight into what you've actually accomplished on your job.
One tip that they give you when you're doing your
resume is to actually use numbers and metrics. So if
(22:55):
you're saying I fixed tickets on a help desk, you
should say I've solved thirty customers propos a day. That
way they can get a good idea numbers wise, Okay,
thirty problems a day, twenty days a month, twelve months
per year. That's seventy two hundred problems that you solved
all together. So the more metrics and the more analytics
that you can add to your resume, the more impressive
it is.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Instead of giving these Miss America pageant type of answers.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
You know, okay, I know you have an excellent resume though,
so no worries for you, all right, Well, that is
you're under the radar.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Now, you know. We have the way it mix at
the top of the hour. Plus we have Amy Moore
in joining us.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
She is a best selling author, and she now has
a book out, Thirteen Things Mentally Strong Couples Don't Do.
By the way, she also has one of the most
popular TED talks of all time when you look at
those numbers. So she's gonna be talking to us about
fixing what's broken, developing healthier patterns, and growing stronger together.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
It's way up.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
She's like the talt like they am Jeal Jean, like
they am.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
Jeal Jean Man. She's spilling it all is yeat way off.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
What's up is what ye butt? Angela yee, I'm angela yee.
And Mano's in ability. It's time for some yet Tiger Woods.
He has launched a new apparel company. It's called Sunday Red,
after splitting from Nike. Now he's posted on social media.
It started with the passion, the passion of competing, competing
against ourselves, the field, the course life. Out of that passion,
(24:25):
Sunday Red rises and so excited for that and that's
going to actually be launching in May.
Speaker 4 (24:31):
So was it like golf wear?
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Uh, yeah, it's just an apparel brand. I'm sure you
could use it for other things besides golf. But people
know him so well obviously, and Nike made a lot
of money off of him. Yeah, I'm with that, But
they have polo shirts that will be between one hundred
and fifteen and one hundred and thirty five dollars, shoes
that could cost more than two hundred dollars, and I'm
sure he's going to make a ton of money from this.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
So shout out to Tiger Woods. Make sure you stream
the song from Mano.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
You'll stop it. What I like old and it was
disrespectful and it stop it, Okay.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Now, Hulu has revealed premier dates for two new movies,
Under the Bridge or Series and Freaknick The Wildest Party
Never Told. That's going to be March twenty first on Hulu. Yes,
I knew you wanted to know. And of course that's
eped by Lou Campbell, Jumain dupri and twenty one Savage,
alongside Mass Appeal and Swirl Films, And so I know
(25:27):
y'all can't.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Wait to see that.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
Yeah, I can't wait to see that all.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
Right, So once again, that is March twenty first.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Snoop Dogg and Doctor Dre have launched some canned cocktails
Gin and Juice by Dre and Snoop obviously, we know
where that comes from.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
Gin and Juice the song, all right.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
So they put out a press release yesterday and it's
the first launch from Snoop and Dre's new premium spirits company.
They're going to be announcing more products in the their future.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
So what is it? Is it and juice? What is it?
Speaker 2 (25:53):
It's gin and juice juice, Yeah, and it's in a can.
So they've been doing all these can cocktails lately. It
just makes it a lot easier. If you want to
see this is what it looks like, you can google
it with the can.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
All right.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Now, Jlo is talking about how she financed her new
Prime video original movie. She said everybody thought that she
was crazy. The movie is a cinematic odyssey musical called
This Is Me Now, a Love Story, And she said
she was terrified to do this, but this is going
to be on Prime Video actually this Friday, and so
(26:24):
that's going to go along with her first studio album
in a decade.
Speaker 3 (26:28):
So let's see how that goes. It's always scary to
use your.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Own money for something like that, but it's always nice
to gamble on yourself, right, You bet on me?
Speaker 3 (26:37):
All right?
Speaker 2 (26:37):
And Kanye West has put out a preview for his
new interview with Justin Laboy that is quote coming soon.
And here's what it sounds like.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Life is not a solo project.
Speaker 10 (26:49):
And I believe that being the single richest black man
in the world cannot secure your position.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
And or to move people. A king needs an army,
and it became an army.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
He also talked to TMZ at LAX yesterday after all
the Super Bowl stuff and basically says that he can't
be canceled. And you know, TMZ did a whole documentary
on whether or not he's cancellable, and I guess there's
your answer. And he's clearly not mad about that documentary
because he's talking to TMZ at the airports. All right, well,
that is your yet and when we come back, we
(27:28):
have asked yee eight hundred two nine fifty one fifty
is a number any question that you have, We are
here to help you out.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
It's way up?
Speaker 5 (27:35):
Are going?
Speaker 6 (27:36):
Everybody since whether it's relationship or career advice, Angela's dropping facts.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
You should know this is ask gee what's up his
way up? At Angela Yee? I'm Angela Yee and Mano
is here and it is time for ask yee. Eight
hundred two nine two fifty one fifty is a number.
MANO is an award winning advice get Yeah, you really
are all right?
Speaker 3 (27:57):
So we have somebody on the line. Hey, who's this?
Speaker 12 (28:00):
You know?
Speaker 8 (28:01):
Hey, Now I have a real problem.
Speaker 12 (28:06):
So for Valentine's Day right here, my man has been amazing.
He that's everything for me. But the problem is I'm
just not feeling it anymore.
Speaker 11 (28:16):
Should I wait until after Valentine's Dy or should I
wait for four just so.
Speaker 12 (28:20):
I could save him some money? He has that there,
save all.
Speaker 7 (28:23):
That on me?
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Are you sure you don't want to be with him anymore?
Because you said he's amazing.
Speaker 12 (28:28):
He is just like it.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
It's not there like you know, the butterflies, the spark,
it's just not.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
So you want to break up with him on Valentine's Day,
Well before Valentine's Day or after, it's got to be
one of the other.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
Then you should break up with him today. Then don't
let them, don't let them spend no money and go
through all that, and then break.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
Up with him after that he's already spent money.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Yeah, well, don't give him opportunity to take it back.
So don't do that. Have some dignity for the for
the fella, for the fellaw.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Yeah, because the thing you don't want is to wait
till after Valentine's Day, and he's going to feel like
you waited until after to get your gifts and everything,
and then it's really hard to take get some somebody
who you know likes you, but you don't really like
them if you care about them at all.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
Because I'm sure you care about him as a person,
you just don't want.
Speaker 12 (29:13):
To be with him, that's true. Maybe I could just
wait a month.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
No, don't do don't be down. You're being selfish. Don't
do that.
Speaker 3 (29:21):
I don't do that to him.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
Don't do that.
Speaker 9 (29:23):
See, that's what happens, nice guys. Finished last, That's what
always happens.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
If you at least want to be friends with him
at some point, don't do that.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Plus, it's not going to be a good Valentine's Day
to spend time with someone you don't even like.
Speaker 14 (29:37):
Like that, that's true. Tighten up, I'll say something tonight.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Yeah, let him know ahead of time, and you know,
let him know that it was difficult for you also
to have to tell him this because you do think
he's amazing, but it just doesn't feel like it was
meant to be for you, and you don't want him
to go out of his way to do these things.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
And who knows.
Speaker 2 (29:56):
If he brought to a gift, maybe he's still going
to give it to you if that's important to you.
And but I just think it's important to be honest,
especially at a time like this, because you don't want
him to hate you.
Speaker 9 (30:05):
You must like somebody else too. You like somebody else, right,
I mean, and the dude you like, I guarantee you
don't even treat you half as nice as that guy.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
That's just how it is. I'm telling you how it
is that the guy that you like is not even
as considerate as.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
You like the challenge of this new guy. So I
just think if you're honest with him, he can at
least respect that.
Speaker 7 (30:34):
That's true.
Speaker 12 (30:35):
Like I said, I'm going to do it tonight.
Speaker 14 (30:37):
You're right, ye, I need to take the higher road
and don't worry about the gifts.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
And you're sure you don't want him, nah, that's what? Okay?
All right?
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Well, good let him know. The earlier the better, rip
that band aid off. We'll do well, thank you, thank you, Janelle,
you're a monster.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Stop it all right?
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Well that was ask ye eight hundred ninety case you
couldn't get through. And when we come back, she may
want to listen to this Thirteen Things mentally Strong Couples
Don't do. We have the author over one million books sold,
one of the most watch ted talks of all time,
Amy Mooren joining us. She's a psychotherapist and she's here
to help you out. It's way up, Turn up you,
(31:18):
way up with Angela Yee. More Now, what's up? It's
way up with Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee and Jasmine
Brand is here with me today. Yes, here and now
we have a best selling author and you're also a psychotherapist,
mental strength trainer and award winning host of Mentally Stronger
with Therapists. Amy Moore in podcast, thank you so much
for joining us, Amy Moren, thank you.
Speaker 15 (31:39):
So much for being here and letting me come to
your show.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
All right, so you have a new book out, Thirteen
Things Mentally Strong Couples Do. Now you've done a lot
of mentally Strong you have like a whole mentally Strong series.
And so before we even start, what makes you the
expert on this just so people who are listening understand
why you're writing these books.
Speaker 16 (31:58):
Well, I started my career as a therapist, and I thought, oh,
I'm going to teach all of these skills I learned
in college.
Speaker 15 (32:03):
But it was really when I went through my own journey.
Speaker 16 (32:05):
My mom died when I was twenty three, which was
just shortly after I'd launched my career as a therapist,
and then when I was twenty six, my husband passed away,
And it was really those losses that taught me the
most about mental strength. It wasn't just about the stuff
I'd learned in college anymore. It really set me on
my own journey to say, what makes me moo mentally
strong and what are the bad habits I want to
give up if I want to be a strong person and.
Speaker 15 (32:25):
Come out on this on the other side.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
One thing that you did do was you went viral
on social media. Can you talk about that list that
you did, the thirteen things mentally strong people don't do?
Speaker 16 (32:35):
Yeah, my father in law had just been diagnosed with
terminal cancer. I had gone through that series of losses.
I felt like I just spent a whole decade grieving
and now I was faced with the rumtal prognosis, and
I thought, oh, I can't stand another loss. So I
sat down and I wrote myself a letter of what
mentally strong people don't do. And initially I thought it
was just for me, but I thought, if it's helpful
(32:56):
to me, maybe it will help somebody else. I put
it on the internet and fifty million people the article.
One of them was a literary agent who said you
should write a book. But at first nobody knew why
I wrote it.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Right now, I'm talking to Amy Moran, the author of
Thirteen Things Mentally Strong Couples Don't Do.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Now, Jasmine, you have a question.
Speaker 14 (33:13):
Based on the list, what do you think people struggle
with the most?
Speaker 15 (33:16):
The one people talk about the most is don't give away.
Speaker 16 (33:19):
Your power m okay, which is really about when we
blame other people like oh you ruined my day.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
It says they don't allow others to control them. They
don't give someone else power over them. They don't say
things like my boss makes me feel bad. Because you
do have control over your emotions and a choice in
how you respond. You know, sometimes you can't control other
people's actions, but you can control how you respond to
other people's actions.
Speaker 15 (33:41):
That's exactly.
Speaker 16 (33:42):
But sometimes we want to be like, oh, it's their
fault that I'm having a bad day or they're making
me feel bad, but taking back your powers of belt
saying no, I can control these things myself.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Now, Amy, let's get into this book thirteen things mentally
strong couples don't do privacy. Now, you talk about certain
things that couples my degree should be kept private, and
then secrets they wouldn't want another to keep. So let's
talk about privacy and things that are okay to keep private.
But then what do the secrets that you keep tell
(34:10):
you about your relationship.
Speaker 16 (34:12):
Well, there is a difference between secrecy and privacy that's
tough sometimes to figure out.
Speaker 15 (34:17):
Is that okay to not mention this? But the damaging
secrets are when we do things.
Speaker 16 (34:22):
Like I'm not going to tell you how much I
spent on this because you'd be mad, or I'm not
going to tell you where I was this morning because
you'll make a big deal out of it, And those
are the things that damage the relationship.
Speaker 15 (34:31):
But privacy might be something like.
Speaker 16 (34:34):
I'm not going to let you look at my social media,
I'm not going to give you my password, or if
my friend calls me with an emergency and.
Speaker 15 (34:40):
Say she needs to talk. I don't necessarily need to
share that with my partner because that's something.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
That's her private right. So let me ask you this.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Let's say you all went through something where he cheated
and then you're like, I need your passwords. What do
you do in a situation like that, Because now that's
something that normally you should be able to have as privacy,
but because you're trying to to rebuild trust, is that
an indication that this relationship may not be strong in
some instances?
Speaker 16 (35:06):
That makes sense to say, all right, if you broke trust,
then we're not gonna keep those things private. So in
our therapy office, we'll do that sometimes where somebody will say, Okay,
I'm gonna let you look at my DMS, I'm gonna
let you check out my passwords so that you feel better.
You know that when I say I'm gonna be somewhere
that you can trust me, and if you have to
check up on me for a little while until we
rebuild that trust, go for.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
It right now.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
Amy Morin is here talking to me and Jasmine Brandti
is a licensed psychotherapist and clinical social worker, but she's
also an author Thirteen Things Mentally Strong People Do. She
went viral when she put that list out and now
she's a best selling author. We have more with her
when we come back. It's way up, Babit, way up
with Angela Yee more. Now what's up is way up
(35:49):
with Angela Ye. I'm Angela Yee. Dasman Brand is here
with me and we are talking to a psychotherapist turned
quote accidental author, Amy Morin. Now here's something also that
I think is important practice asking for help and accepting
it all right, because I'm never good at asking for help.
But sometimes we don't ask for help, but we get
mad when somebody doesn't help us. And it's also how
you ask too, So can we talk about that when
(36:11):
it comes to relationships.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
And not being like you never do this, or do
this for me, or will you.
Speaker 14 (36:18):
At least do this for me?
Speaker 3 (36:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 16 (36:19):
Yeah, A lot of it has to do with the
way we word it, or we don't ask for help,
but we expect our partners to know. So we start
slamming stuff around in the kitchen and you're like, Oh,
if only they'd recognize that I'm doing all the work,
eve me slamming this right, or we could make a
complaint like I have so much to do instead of saying,
could you please help me with this? So I think
it's really important to look at how we express our concerns,
(36:42):
whether we are asking for help, and then if somebody
offers us help, to accept it, because sometimes we're like, oh.
Speaker 15 (36:47):
You don't do it right, so I just will do
it myself.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
One thing I do that you talk about in this
book is I'll be very quiet. Instead of addressing an issue,
I just won't talk at all. And that's something that
I know can be really frustrating for another person because
my thing is I don't want to argue, so I'd
rather just not say anything.
Speaker 14 (37:05):
I use the silent treatment when I'm angry. That's on
page one oh five.
Speaker 15 (37:09):
Put that for me, and that's a pretty common thing.
Speaker 16 (37:12):
Or if somebody will say, you know, I'd rather just
not talk about it, although if we talked about it,
maybe we could work through it.
Speaker 15 (37:17):
But on the other hand, it might get.
Speaker 14 (37:19):
Worse, so uncomfortable when you talk about it.
Speaker 15 (37:21):
And bringing things up.
Speaker 16 (37:22):
But when we don't work through the conflict usually grows bigger.
The problem gets repeated again, and it's harder to solve
those things if we don't sit and talk about it.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
Yeah, I just can't talk about it right away, which
makes sense.
Speaker 16 (37:32):
Sometimes it's about giving yourself that space till your emotions come.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
Down, because I never want to say something like in
the heat of an argument that I can't take back.
Speaker 15 (37:40):
That's wise.
Speaker 16 (37:41):
Advice is to say when you're really heated, don't do
it in that moment. But what sometimes happens is with
couples is somebody will say I walked away because I
was upset, and the other person chased me because they
felt abandoned or they felt like we have to rehash
this right now, and then they end up in a
blow up. But if you have that agreement of I'm
too upset to talk about it, but I will talk
about it later, that makes things go a lot smooth.
Speaker 15 (38:02):
Usually.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Right now, I'm talking to Amy Moran, the author of
thirteen Things Mentally Strong Couples Don't do. You know you
also did a TED talk that's like one of the
most watched TED talks ever when you did this list
of the thirteen things that mentally strong people don't do.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
You did this Ted talk. How many views are to
get twenty three million?
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Twenty three million views. Make sure you watch this Ted
talk too. But I know you couldn't have anticipated this happening.
What do you think is the reason that people are
so drawn to this conversation?
Speaker 16 (38:29):
Nobody taught us about mental strength. People are really interested
in learning, well, how do you become mentally stronger? These
little skills can make a huge difference, but nobody knows.
They don't teach us in school. Our parents didn't teach us.
So I think people really want to know, like, how
can I have a healthier mindset? What would help me
have healthier relationships? How do I deal with sad feelings?
So I believe right now the world is just ready
(38:50):
to hear that message and people want to know how
do I dive into this? Because it makes the rest
of your life better when you're mentally stronger. And I'm
sure COVID also affected a lot of that too. We've
seen a lot of things changing, and for you as
a therapist, have you seen a lot of people coming
in with different types of issues than you've seen before. Yeah,
And I think it really opened the door to people
realizing that we're all just a few things away from
(39:11):
having a mental health issue and if anything good came
out of COVID, it's that idea that take away a
few of our favorite coping skills, like can't go to
the gym, you can't see your family as often, and
so many more people were like, yeah, I'm struggling with
depression and anxiety too. And I think that really helped
people realize that, yeah, there's skills and strategies and things
we can do to manage our mental health and we
(39:31):
should be doing that proactively.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
But thank you so much for coming through it. I
appreciate you for taking the time for us.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Again, it's thirteen things mentally strong couples don't do, and
there's definitely some quizzes in here. This I think is
something great that you can sit down with your significant
other with and actually, yeah, and there's certain things that
you guys can talk about.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Maybe it's hard for you to address. This book can
address it for you. I hope so, yeah, I hope
so too. Where can people find you? Also, Amy, Just
so we.
Speaker 16 (39:58):

Speaker 4 (40:29):
Building, always here for your baby.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
All right, Well, let's see about that tomorrow on Valentine's Day.
Speaker 9 (40:35):
Valentine's Day, Valentine's Day, whatever days, all the day of love.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
It's always love.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
That's true. Every day is Valentine's Jay, right. I wonder
what you're going to be doing. Are you going to
be posting pictures?
Speaker 4 (40:46):
I'm not saying don't. I don't do none of those things.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
You're gonna have a photographer.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
I don't do none of those things. And I don't
know what you're playing with me right now on this radio.
Speaker 3 (40:54):
Why do you get your daughter something for Valide?
Speaker 4 (40:56):
Absolutely?
Speaker 3 (40:57):
I used to love that.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
That was one thing every year I look for it
when I was growing up. Just I'm gonna be honest
though on this radio. My dad would always give me
something the day after when it was half priced, so
it would be like, that's a good father.
Speaker 9 (41:09):
Yeah, all right, Typical shows you that they didn't always
matter about the day.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Well, we also appreciate everybody for calling in today and
weighing in on whether or not men should get gifts
for Valentine's Give me my gifts. I cannot wait to
talk to you to see what kind of gifts you got,
No man, and thank you to Amy Mooren for joining
us thirteen things mentally strong couples don't do. You can
watch that full interview on my YouTube channel Way Up
with Ye And of course, you guys be safe. We
(41:36):
cannot wait to hear hear from y'all tomorrow, and we
know it's last minute, but you still have time to
make it right for tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
All right, here's the last word.
Speaker 12 (41:45):
Hey, Angela, yee, I'm calling about the Valentine's Day situation.
A lot of these different states don't have sweet as Day.
I think all men should get pay flowers while they're
here too, just like women won't say flowers every day,
it's only one day a year. We should get her
flowers too.
Speaker 8 (42:01):
Hey, Angela, my name is Miko and I wanted to
sign the light on my niece, Samayah Galloway from Chicago, Illinois.
She goes to Sineon High School and she's the number
one freshman yes with a five point ogta. She's making
her family proud.
Speaker 16 (42:22):
Thank you and you all have
Speaker 5 (42:23):
A great day and going way out with Angela Yee
