Speaker 1 (00:03):
What I call her. Ye. Yes, Happy Thursday. It's way
up with Angela. Yee, I'm here. Jasmine Brand is here
with me. Good morning, Angela. How are you feeling. I'm
feeling good. You know today I'm at Alabama and m
University as the weather. Um, it's good, okay, Yeah, it's

(00:24):
definitely feeling like spring. Well. Yes, I'm at Alabama today,
so I'm excited to talk to the women for Women's
History Month. Okay, But in the meantime, we have a
great show for y'all. Y'all know, it's Thursday, and I
do Mastery of Comedy on Thursday, so we had a
chance to talk to Miss Pat. She's gonna be joining
us later. Okay. Inspiring, super inspiring. Yes, And I know
Miss Pat does radio and she also has a podcast,

(00:45):
and she's also doing stand up and she also has
a TV production deal and all of that's mom. She's
also a mom. She also flips houses. And I want
to talk about that because you do I care about that.
I'm in the middle of a really stressful deal right now.
You are. Yeah, it throws me off, you know how,
like something's going on in your real life and then
you still got to work and you're like, man, it's
throwing me off, and always like what happened? What's the latest?

(01:08):
But I try to stay calm. Yeah, whose sid come
back from ten? That's but anyway, Yeah, that's a good chow.
You know, that's a real thing people do. I learned
that and people learn that in anger management. I didn't
realize I try to breathe, stopping. I need to do
that before I send crazy tech messages out. Well yeah,

(01:29):
or stop drinking. Okay. But we have a great show
for y'all today, of course, and we do start it
off as we always do with y'all. All right. That's
what makes this show so great is the listeners are family,
are swarm. No, I'm kiding, I'm kidding. I'm kidding, But
you guys can call us up eight hundred two ninety
one fifty. You want to shine a light on somebody

(01:50):
doing something positive, you know, that is the best way
I think it is always showing his gratitude for others,
whether it's a stranger, a family member, a friend, eight
hundreds up, to shine a light on them on way
up with Angela Yee. What's up is a way with

(02:11):
Angela Yee and I'm here, and Jasmine brand is here
with me, and Y'alla here, which we appreciate. Yes, so
it's time to shine a light on I'm eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty now, Jasmine, I know
you want to shine a light on a group of people. Yes,
I want to shine a light on everyone that is
participating in Ramadan. For those of you who are familiar,
it's the ninth month of the Muslim calendar and it's

(02:33):
the holy month of fasting. It begins it ends with
the appearance of the crescent moon, and so everyone that
participates in Ramadan is fasting and I believe this is
the first official day and that requires a lot of discipline.
So I want to basically shine a light on everyone
that we're depending on where you live, yeah, Ramadan is
a month when the first verses of the Holy Book
Karama revealed to the prophet Muhammed more than fourteen hundred

(02:55):
years ago. Yes, all right, so again, shina light on everybody.
Ramadan is that time? It's not mere yeah at all.
When does it end? April twenty first, it's not a
specific day. It has something to do with the moon
or something. So they know closer to the time, but
they have like a guestimation. All right, well, you guys
call us up and shine a light on them. Who
do you want to shine a light on? Eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty Hello Joan, who you

(03:17):
want to shine a light on? I want to shot
a line on you. I want to support you guys.
I want to sponsor you guys. So I'm John from
the Burger House and the Best stop Brooklyn. From what house?
You know what I'm saying. I want to want the
Burger House. Oh, the burger House. Oh burgers. Okay, you
got organic McDonald's. You got te Burgers, we got um

(03:37):
Turkey Burgers, we got tomal Burgers. Everything's organic. Tool, you
know what I'm saying. So we gotta gotta check it out.
Following the Instagram it's the Burger House, NYC. We were
that I'm interested in sponsor you guys. We like to
eat or congratulations to your success tool. All right, thank you,
we appreciate that. I'm excited I could I could get

(03:58):
some fool to you. All right, well, definitely be reaching out.
Thank you. We want to shine a light on you
and the Burger House. Thank you. Thank you ys black owned.
You know what I'm saying. We come from nothing, and
you know what I'm saying, we're going somewhere too. So
we're looking. We're looking arms at the franchise. So I'm
saying it's a great opportunity. Okay, I see, I'm googling
it right now. Thank you. Congratulations or they got some

(04:20):
good ratings too, you know I look at that, yes, Serene.
So do you want to shine a light on I
wanted to shine a light on myself. Okay, I'm doing
positive in my community right now. I'm doing my Wishapana
prom dress drive and it helps thousands of teams in
the Trifate area with great prom attire. Okay, Oh that's beautiful.
What is it called again, It's called Wishapana Palm Okay?

(04:43):
And how can people donate or participate or get a
dress if they need one? Um bo can follow me
on my Instagram page with its black new jersey n
F E L A C K and E W H
A E R S E Y. All right, well, thank
you for doing something positive. I remember prim and the
most important part of that is the right Thank you. Duanne.

(05:05):
Who do you want to shine a light on the
mother of my Alexia Alexeia, Okay, talk talk some more
about her. I just want to thank her, you know,
appreciate her for men in my life, you know, teaching me,
guy to me, caring for me. You know, you know
so much for me. You know. I just you know,
want to shine a light one don't see the one?

(05:26):
We love to hear that. How long did it take
for you to know? But she was the one? Uh,
I'm not you know, I'm not like a couple of
like couple years. Let's till our super years. For sure,
she definitely want I definitely want for full text, you know.
Oh you go, that's you know how you want to
do it. I got a couple of years. You know.
I don't want to put her under this spotlight too much.
But you know, you know what you're doing. Okay, okay,

(05:48):
but good luck. Yeah for sure, for sure. All right
we left to hear ray shout out to you, Alexeia.
All right, Well that was shining a light on him.
Eight huntre two nine fifty one fifty. Of course you
can call us up and you can always leave a
message for last word and shine a light on somebody
in case we didn't get to you, which we would
love to. But people be calling. That's a good thing.
People do be calling. And when we come back, we

(06:09):
have a yet. It's way up with the Angela Yee.
Truth in the womb from an industry shade to all
the gossip out sent Angela's spilling a yet, Angela Yee,
and we got my girl Jasmine from the Jasmine brand.
Good morning, the Jasmine brand dot com. And I know
these stories are always on the Jasmine brand tour. That's
where we get a lot of our information. All right, Well,

(06:31):
let's start up with four two Doug. He is facing
up to five more years in federal prison and a
two hundred and fifty thousand dollars fine. He did plead guilty.
He admitted that he failed to report to our federal
prison camp in West Virginia. He was supposed to serve
a six month sentence for illegally possessing a firearmed Okay,
why would you not do that if you know you
have to? When is the sentencing for this? Well, under

(06:54):
terms of a plea agreement that was filed last month,
prosecutors will agree to recommend he'd be sentenced to six
months in prison. Even though they can disregard that recommendation.
So he has agreed to also attend a thirty day
in patient drug treatment program after leaving prison and a
thirty day outpatient drug treatment program, and sentencing is set
from Ay tenh Okay, oh my gosh. I know. I

(07:18):
just kind of feel like, if you know, you could
potentially face the years in prison, or you gotta go
for six months to this camp or whatever. I'm going
to camp. Yeah, me too. I wonder if there's a
backstory that we don't know about as to why he didn't,
because it's got to be a reason why. Yeah. Well,
you know, when he was arrested, they said he had
twenty five thousand thousand cash and more than one hundred

(07:39):
thousand dollars in jewelry. Nothing wrong with that. He's an artist. Yeah,
so I don't think that's crazy. But he's been incarcerated
at the US Penitentiary Atlanta, which is a low security
lock up. Okay, all right, now, Cassidy wants to battle Eminem,
and Cassidy also says that he is the biggest battle
rapper in the game. He says that he is the

(08:00):
biggest until Eminem wants to come and challenge him for
that title. But he is a fan. Let's be clear.
He either wants to collab with him or battle him. Okay,
if you don't want to work with me, I'm gonna
beat your ass. Here's what he had to say, if
like somebody wanted to, you know, try to claim the
title like Eminem or somebody would have to come back.
Didn't get like actually in the lane there out to
claim the day. The biggest battle repper because as a

(08:22):
this point right now is me. I'm a fan of Eminem.
I want to work Whinney on the main trades and
information with Boll Who's some music Whinney. So I ain't
really trying to battle him, but I badd to w anybody.
I've bad to myself before, so I bad to anybody.
I actually used to see Eminem battle rap back in
the day at Lyricist Lounge. He would come from Detroit
to New York and he would say the wildest craziest things, really, yes,

(08:47):
like talking about his own family members and everything. That's
what he was doing on his records too, so brand
so it's kind of um and he was really great
at coming off the top of his head. But Cassidy.
It's just different now, Yeah, it is, you know, But
I also feel like with Eminem, the movie like eight
Mile is what took him to another level. Yeah, like
you did that movie and that's kind of like that

(09:07):
was a classic movie to this day. Angela, who do
you think will win between those two battling each other?
I don't know because I also don't know the eminem
battle raps anymore. Well, and I wonder if you get
like Rusty, if it's something you haven't done in a why,
where is it a muscle that you know you just
kind of have to because I would imagine something like
that you have to continue to do to stay sharp. Yeah,
you know, I forgot it. So I mean, I don't

(09:28):
really know. I haven't seen him battle rapp in decades
of right, all right, you know it's hard to say.
All right, And let's talk about Takashi six nine. We
discussed him getting beat up at a LA Fitness beat
up in South Florida. Yeah, and now everybody's weighing in
on it. The Boosey Badass says, we need to start
to go fund me for this guy like Cookie money, say,

(09:49):
we got to start rewarding the real ones, and he's
talking about the people that beat up Takashi. Yeah. Also
Academics weighed in. Here's what he had to say, and
he got prison photos. Yeah, look look at the caption.
After eight years, August, I'm free. The kid'd even spell August.
Y'all wouldn't be for this. I would apologize to this.

(10:10):
And you know Academics has had a relationship with Takashi
for Yeah, they're like almost friends, right, Yeah, I don't know,
it's weird to say. And then the Whack one hundred
weighed in. Okay, and he was working with him, and
he said they did him like this for snitching, then
turned around and snitched on themselves. Cloud is a new
crack six nine. I wish you were speedy recovery. He said,
it's unfortunate what happened at six nine. He's a good guy,
like that's full of lessons. This isn't about his so

(10:31):
called street situation. This is about decision making on both sides.
The ones who filmed and posted themselves will remember this
day for many years to come, and six nine will
now know he has to move accordingly, stay dangerous and
don't hesitate. Wish him a speedy recovery. Okay, I saw
some stories saying that these guys are in trouble. Now
for yeah, it's a crime, it's not It's not legal

(10:52):
to jump somebody, even if you don't care for the person,
it's not it's not legal. So I mean, yeah, do
people know who they are? I mean it's they're at
La Fitness, so they might be members members. Yeah, I
would hate if that was my guest for the day.
Your guests came in La Fitness and beat up some jasmine?
How dare you? All right? Well that is your yet

(11:13):
And when we come back, we have about last night.
This is the segment of the show where we talk
about things that we got into last night. All right,
so we got a lot to talk about. It's way
up with Angela Yee. Yeah, so about last night night
all right, it is way up with Angela Yee, And

(11:34):
it's time for about last night. That's when we talk
about things that happened to us yesterday or last night.
It could be a movie we watched, could be a
television show, maybe some music we listened to, or something
unique that happened that I know it's relatable and for me,
you guys, this is not the first time this has
happened to me, and I'm embarrassed about this, but I
actually have to fly out. I'm in Alabama right now

(11:57):
while I do the show, and the problem is that
I went to the airport and I still don't have
a valid ID. I don't have my license. It's a
long story, but basically the license that I do have
is expired because UPS lost my other license when I
had to get it sent to me because I forgot it.
And so I got to the airport and I don't

(12:18):
know if you've ever tried to fly without ID, but
it is possible, but it takes an extra long time.
So I do want to shout out everybody in the
airport that worked with me. So basically, just so you
guys know if you ever go to the airport and
you don't have an ID. And this happened to me
one time before. I was at a party and somehow
left the party with no wallet at all. I didn't

(12:39):
have my credit cards, didn't have any type of ID
on me, got to the airport, didn't even realize I
didn't have it till I got there. And what they
do is they pull you to the side and then
they called. The manager has to come and then they
ask you all these questions like your maiden name, They
asked you different addresses, you had, different types of cars,
you own, kind of the things that you would need

(13:00):
to know if you were signing up for a credit card,
those security questions, and sometimes it might take like thirty
or forty five minutes for somebody to come to you
and actually ask you those questions so you can go through.
So that is what I had to go through to
be able to make my flight. Now, I want to
encourage anybody if you do travel a lot, to make
sure you get clear, make sure you get your say,

(13:21):
pre check. All of those things do help. But if
you're in an airport that doesn't have those capabilities, then yes,
you will have to go through these things. But that's
what happened to me yesterday. It's always something that happens.
That's why I don't play with y'all that get to
the airport because you have carry on, you give yourself
half an hour to get through. I actually get to
the airport about an hour and a half early. Thank god.

(13:42):
If I get there early, then I can relax, maybe
go get something to eat, go look for some bugs,
walk around, do whatever I have to do, get on
my laptop. But I do not recommend anybody just making
their flight. I'm not that type of person. You never
know what type of traffic there's gonna be. I've missed
flights a couple of times in my life, and this
was an incident that could have definitely made me miss
my flight. But that is my about last night. So again,

(14:05):
the moral of the story is get your valid license.
And there's this whole thing happening where you have to
have like the real ID coming up. I don't know
if you guys know about this, but real ID is
an enhanced ID and they're saying that you're gonna need
that to be able to fly at some point. So
I don't know what that date is when that's gonna happen.

(14:26):
I think it says, oh in different states, it's a
different place. But yes, so you're gonna need to get
that real ID. I'm gonna make my appointment now and
get myself a license and get myself a valid ID.
I write to you guys, that is my about last night.
And when we come back, math Haffa is going to
be joining us. In case you missed this he has
an amazing podcast out called My Expert Opinion, and he's

(14:47):
gonna talk about that. So many of us want to
start a podcast or maybe you guys watch this and
you love the way that he's able to pull information
from people. But you'll get to hear from math Haffa
when we come back. It's way up with Angela ye yea,
get it, bring it, bringing the mic up with Angela.
Ye's on what's up it is Angela Ye It's way
up with Angela. Yee. I'm excited to have math haff

(15:08):
A hair. Yeah, I'm in the building, y'all was so
finally I'm here my Expert Opinion. So you know what's funny,
some of the younger people I won't name names, they
look at you as a interviewer, podcaster and they might
not even know like the whole history. Yes that's a
good thing, you think's some cases. And so I love
the fact that you're able to get all different kinds

(15:29):
of people on your show to tell stories that you
don't get to hear anywhere else. I know we've played
a lot of it from when I was on the
Breakfast Club and then even now you've been having some
great moments and then see people interview you. I saw
the Drink Champs three hour long interview. Yes, yes, shout
out the norry. That was my that was my third
time up there. I know sometimes the conversations get a
little bit heated on your show, as you guys have

(15:51):
passed murder. It was my guy the Talk of New York.
So how do you like de escalate situations? I know, yeyo,
did I know? I think when I'm tech and still
were on there, that got a little bit heated as well.
I'm from Brooklyn. I've seen a lot of things. I've
done a lot of things. So until fist is flying

(16:13):
or bullets wizard around the room, I never feel like
it's out of a control situation. You know, barbershop conversations,
they get heated. Yeah, some people are really passionate about
the things that they're saying. So I let that passion
play out. But I'm not gonna lay anybody get hurt
on my show, right. I think the difference between my
Expert of Pion and every other show is that my

(16:35):
guests feel comfortable. Right, Like Derek Rose had a voice
told him he needed to come to my show. Yeah,
because Derek Rose. I was like, I don't see him
do anything exactly, and he said, I don't know. A
voice told me I needed to come to your show,
and I was like, yeah, God is on my side. Yeah,
And so I do know you've had a lot of
drama even with the cast on your show and people
saying that you had got this like two point seven

(16:56):
million dollar offer and I've seen you say that's not yeah,
don't say that, man. I'm stilling the hood doing the hood.
You're gonna put a target on my back, man. But
you know what's interesting to me is that you said
you did have a contract, and so I don't know
that motion on the table shout out to Ditty, But
we didn't really come to that space with it was like, okay, cool,

(17:18):
let's move forward. And I kind of like being an
independent right if you were going to tell other people,
because a lot of people are starting podcasts, what are
some things you would tell them they need to make
sure that they handle before they get started, that you
learn yourself along the way that you wish you would
have known from the beginning. Well, if you're going to
interview people, you need to learn how to listen. Some
people they real wrote their Yes. But the number one

(17:42):
thing I would say is just starting. It's nine percent
of the time that's the hardest part, just starting. What
do you think about Norie and Joe Buddon's conversation that
they had where they were talking about all these form
of rappers want to be podcasters and then want to
be comedians, and then I love when they fail. I
know because I watched it and I have a podcast
to lip service, and I was like, well, that's not

(18:03):
very nice. What do you think when I mean, I
felt like, nah, these foul But but thinking about it,
I get it. It's the guys that feel like it's easy,
the guys that feel like they don't have to do
any type of homework. They don't have to read books
like I read books on being able to hold conversations.

(18:25):
You know, I'm not gonna laugh at them. I don't
laugh at people's failures unless it's Joe Budden. But other
than that, be good. You know what I like. I
don't think they meant it like yo. We just laugh
at people's failures. We laugh at people that think this
is easy. Okay, I get what you're saying. I guess
the way that I interpreted. I was like, well, damn, now,

(18:47):
I did appreciate what you have to say about Mega
Stallion When you were like, we should have believed what
she had to say, A lot of people didn't believe her.
I know you had deb Anthony on the show. I'm
trying to think. Have there been a lot of women
on my expert opinion? I know? But what work it
on it that Champs had too? Yeah? Because talk about that.
It's like, you know, it's a barber shop. But we're

(19:07):
definitely gonna get some more, some more female guests on it.
MC like, if you're listening, help to get you on
the show. Yeah, MC light is no jokes. He is
about her paper and I had a crush on them
went onto. Yeah, she still looks good. I think she
didn't she get divorced to be silly or something. She
had gotten married and then got divorced and then she
was like you didn't see that, yo, let me stop playing.

(19:29):
What's up? Jed? How do I love you? Baby? So
when it comes to the situation, like you said, you
apologize to Megan the salue, what did that make you
think about it? As far as like the treatment of
women in hip hop did that make you reflect on
different things? And even for yourself how you present stories?
Is there any difference for that for you? Um, definitely.

(19:51):
You can't call things until there's an actual verdict. Things
may look one way, but if you don't know the
whole story, you know, you jump out there. You just
end up look and like add later, you know. And
that's how I felt. I felt like ike after the
whole thing, and I felt like I needed to apologize
because if she never sold the clip, there are other
people that were probably influenced by the clip, and then

(20:13):
they might not have bought her story. So I had
to apologize for that's the way Yea. But Angela Yee
and math Hoppa is joining us for my expert opinion,
So tell me what happened, because I know you were
on a mission to find your daughter, So tell me
about that situation. Yeah, my daughter was born and a
year after she was more year after me memorizing this

(20:35):
smile and his voice and his giggle and the things
that she likes, and you know, all the memories that
I have of playing and having fun with her. She
was taking out of my life. And her mother at
the time felt like, you know, she was justified in
doing it, and I didn't see if till nine years later.
How did you manage to find her? All she found

(20:56):
me was her birthday and she said, I want to
speak to my dad. Luckily I had the same noble
and that happened. We cried, it's a beautiful thing. Did
you forgive her? Mom? How hard was that to do
for you? For It's still tough because when it comes
to like children, I mean, you have to forgive because

(21:17):
you're not only in that child's life forever, but you're
also in your parents' life ever. But it's still tough
because you know, my daughter has a different, different idea
of why that happened than I do. So what was
it like that when you finally got to go see her?
It was awesome? It was awesome, man. And it's funny
because when I was a kid, I was an artist.

(21:39):
You know, I should draw a lot of stuff. And
to see that, you know, out of nowhere, she's an artist.
She draws, she's excellent, She's like really really really good.
It gave me a good energy. I was really depressed
for a long time over that, and gave me a
good energy and I took that good energy, and I
started my esperit opinion. And so when it comes to

(21:59):
my fannetizing, right, because like I said, this is to
help people who are doing podcasting up their own. How
long did it take for you to say, for you
to get money? Like, were you getting money from the
first episode or was it I'm gonna just do this
build it? Because I think sometimes people are impatient and
they think that the podcast game, I think it's gonna
It's like, how do I make money? It took me

(22:20):
a while. My cameraman was getting paid before hours, right,
because that's what happens when you have It's like starting
a business. You have to pay everybody around you that's
doing work and you get paid less, right, And you
got to figure out, Okay, do I have the capital
to maintain this for the amount of time that's going
to take for me to get paid. And you have
to give yourself at least six moths. Of course, along

(22:40):
the way, you could pick up sponsors, maybe a local
clothing lines or whatever to throw something that you for promotion,
but other than that, no, you really got to give
yourself like six months to see what it's worked. Right,
And we've been rocking for three years. That's amazing. All right, Well, again,
thank you so much coming through. I do really appreciate

(23:01):
it that I do want to make sure I highlight
some of the most amazing podcasts that I feel like
are really impactful in our community. So congratulations to you
and everything, and I appreciate you math topic my expert opinion.
Make sure y'all continue to check that out because those
numbers are in the millions, So keep running it up.
Subscribe baby, And when we come back, we have a
Yet It's way up with Angela yee. She about to

(23:22):
blow the lead about this boet it. Come and get
the tea. What's up? It's way up with Angela yee.
I'm Angela yee. And Jasmine Brand is here with me. Yes,
I'm here, and we're doing yet, which is right up
your alley one of my favorite segments of the show. Yeah,
I mean, I also feel like it's your area of expertise.
You helped me a lot kind of I kind of
do with these stories even when I was on the

(23:44):
Breakfast Club doing Room of Report. Yea. All right, and
you because you do always send me stories and just
for full disclosure, we like send each other stories back
and forth all night, all night, all day, never even
during the show. Ye. All right, Well, let's talk about
Tiana Taylor. You know that movie that she's in, A
thousand and one is coming out on March thirty first.
If you don't know what it's about. It's um led

(24:05):
by an all black cast and directors, and it's about
as kidnapping her six year old son, Terry from the
foster care system. Here is a trailer from that movie.
Tell me more about your foster mother? You like her?
Would it make you feel better if you came to
stay with me? Yeah, the city had him. He's not
supposed to be with me. To yourself, where's my dad?

(24:28):
He's gone? My mother? Your blessing for your mom, especially
you getting older now, time for you to start thinking
for yourself, feeling again. That's A thousand and one of
that comes out on March thirty first. This was really good, Yeah,
really really good. And we let to see Tianna Taylor

(24:50):
acting anything like on camera? All right. It's kind of
a dramatic role for her too. And now let's talk
about our girl, Brandy Wednesday Disney Plus. And now that
Paulo Montalbin would join Brandy he'll reprise his role as
Prince Charming, who is quote as much in love with
Cinderella as he ever was. And that's for the upcoming
installment of the Descendants franchise, Descendants The Rise of Red. Okay,

(25:14):
can you tell us about it? Jasmine Brandy Powell start
as Cinderella and Prince Christopher in the nineteen ninety seven
film Rogers and hammerstin Cinderella, alongside the late Whitney Uston.
That was a classic, right, Yeah, So they're gonna return
to their roots, and they're also going to have the
previously cast reader Aura playing the Queen of Hearts who
rules over the Kingdom of Wonderland with an iron fist. Okay,

(25:36):
so you're excited for this one too. I am. This
makes me miss Whitney Houston. I'm not gonna lie. Yeah,
if you said the pictures of this they had, they
released the photos of this, and it looks really good
and Brandy looks amazing. Okay, Yeah, I'm here for it.
All these good movies in one last movie we want
to talk about is actually a travel documentary, and that
is Vanessa Hudgens. First of all, I never knew that
she was half Filipino. I didn't know that either. But

(25:58):
she's heading to the Philippines to explore her family history,
and um, it's gonna be her first trip to the
country of where her mother was born. Her mother's Filipino,
so it's gonna showcase her close relationship with her family
and her personal trajectory as an American born, half Filipino
woman who has become one of the world's most recognizable stars.
Her mom left the Philippines when she was twenty five. Interesting, okay, yeah,

(26:21):
and she said, I feel like ours is such a
relatable story to so many women all over the world.
The more that we can share, the more we can
lift each other up. That's exciting. I would love to
go to Like, you know, my dad is Chinese, my
mom is from the West Indies, but I go to
the West Indies all the time. When they're born there
or in the state. They both were born here, okay,
you know, but they're like removed once, Like my grandparents

(26:44):
were all born Okay, so their first generation. Yeah, okay,
got it? Is that how you say it? I could yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
but I wouldn't mind. I've never been to China. Yeah,
you should go yeah, you and your dad should go. No,
I'll go with my friends. Sorry dad, All right, Well
that is year yet. It's way up with Angela Yee.
And when we come back, we have under the radar.

(27:04):
Those are the stories that have been flying under the radar.
They're not necessarily headline news stories, but you should know
about them. The news news. Listen to news that relates
to you. These stories are flying under the radar. What's up?
It's way up with Angela Yee, and it's time for
under the radar. These are the stories that are not
necessarily headline news stories, but they're flying under the radar,

(27:25):
and we feel like you should know about them. Tainted
eye drops are now linked to three deaths and extensive
vision loss. More than half of the patients were in
healthcare facilities, and four people have had their eyeballs removed
because of these rare bacterial infections linked to contaminated eye drops.
The agency has identified sixty eight patients in sixteen states,

(27:46):
and eight patients have lost their vision and at least
one of their eyes. Some have had to undergo corneal transplants.
So everybody be careful now if you have any of
these symptoms, make sure you go and get medical care.
Yellow green or clear discharge from the eye, eye paint
or discomfort, redness of the eye or eyelid, feeling of
something in your eye, increased sensitivity to light, and blurry vision.

(28:08):
All right, guys, just want to make sure y'all stay
safe out there, and these are your under the radar stories. Now,
y'all know it's a Thursday, so we do have mastery
of comedy on Thursdays, and you guys are gonna love
this sit down we did with miss pat. I know
she's a comedian, but she's got real life things going
on and things that she's really passionate about, so happy
to have a chance to talk to her about that. Also,

(28:29):
we got the Way Up mixed coming at the top
of the hour, so make sure all y'all keep it
locked here on Way Up with Angela Yee. Yeah, she's
like to talk like they Angela Jean like Angela Yee. Yeah,
she's spilling it all. This is yet what's up? It's
way Up with Angela Ye. I'm Angela Yee and Jasmine
Brand is here with me. Happy Thursday. I'm sorry I

(28:51):
keep calling you Jasmine Brand. Your name is Jasmine from
the Jasmine brand. Yes, okay, but it's okay, I am
Jasmine brand. It's fine, I'm not the Jasmine brand, Okay,
all right, it's Jasmine Brandy, all right, and we are
here for yet now. Sissa is in Kim Kardashian's latest
Skims campaign. Great choice, whoever's in that marketing department? Yes
and so. According to a press release, Kim Kardashian says,

(29:13):
Siss's honesty, confidence, and dynamic energy are unparalleled. She's truly
the woman of the moment, and I'm so honored for
her to be featured in Skim's latest campaign. She looks great.
Sissa is on fire right now. By the way, sold
at SOS tour. I even went on that tour, like
I even went to go see I know you took
your goddaughter, right, I took two of my friend's two daughters. Okay,
they were They had asked me in December for tickets, yeah,

(29:36):
and so I got them at the last minute. And
when I tell you, they lost their minds. They were
so excited. They sent me videos of when their mom
told them they were going. Oh, I got them a
picture with Sissa, and then Kardi Bi came out on
the show. Yes, KRDI B came out on that show.
So yeah, shout out to Sissa and Skimski. Listen, that
was a great choice. Yeah, it was to have Sissa
on there. She's makes sense. Honestly, when I tell you,

(29:58):
everybody in that whole entire in the Madison Square Garden
knew all the words to every song. Yeah, Money's is sixteen.
And she went to the DC show and she was like,
oh my god, I loved her show. It's a great show,
even like everything from the production of it. She's like
on a boat. So the SOS theme and all of
that is amazing. All right. Tom Cruise has no part

(30:18):
in his sixteen year old daughter Suri's life. According to
Paid six, they're confirming that he continues to be extranged
from his daughter. He has not seen her in a
very long time, has nothing to do with her. You know.
He was with Katie Holmes, then they split up and
they just really drifted farther and farther apart. That sucks.
Do you believe this? You think this is true? Angela?

(30:40):
You know what, we don't really see them together. And
remember Katie Holmes left because of scientology and she really
wanted to protect their daughter from Scientology. Yeah, and so
it could be a lot of different reasons why. We
don't know if it's necessarily that he doesn't want to
be there. But since neither Surrey nor Katie Holmes or Scientologists,
they're saying that Time Cruise reportedly could not have a

(31:01):
relationship with either one of them because it's against the
Scientology doctor and I guess yeah. And you know Leah Remini,
she did that whole documentary and she's a former scientologist.
She told the Post that Scientology considers Holmes a suppressive person,
which is an enemy, and therefore a Time believes he
can't be connected to Surrey. Wow, Okay, well that's crazy.
And lastly, I just want to shout out Cheryl Lee Ralph.

(31:23):
She came on way up with Angela Yee and gave
an amazing interview. And one thing that she talked about
that I saw was really going viral was a story
about being sexually assaulted and people witnessed this. Executives witnessed it,
and nobody did anything here it is this was a
famous TV judge, not judge matthis. I love him. He's
a great man. At a very public place I had

(31:47):
my suit on. I was handling my business for the
television show I was on at that time. He and
I were on the same network. This man walked in,
grabbed me by the back of my neck, turned me
around and ramedy is nasty tongue down my throne and

(32:07):
everybody at the network saw it. I called Mark Moril,
Mark Morel. He said, you want me to send the
police there right now. Somebody at the network tapped me
on the shoulder. They said, please don't do you know
that They did not want any bad press. Yeah, I
can believe around their show and did not care what

(32:30):
it just happened to me. It wasn't so bad after
was it. That's what makes it hard for women to
speak up. So I just want to highlight that because
she talks about it in her book, but she doesn't
give any details. He just says that, you know, she
had a situation one time where a promoter put his
hand on her leg, and she had several things happened
to her and sometimes I feel like, to this day

(32:54):
that's still happening to women. So her sharing that story
was very brave of her. And people always ask, well,
why you say something, Well, why didn't you do anything?
And that's why, because sometimes people don't believe you. You You
don't feel brave enough, courageous enough, you feel like it
might affect your career. You feel like you're not supported.
But I do want to thank her again for sharing
her experience with us. It's not an easy thing to
talk about at all. All right, Well that is your

(33:16):
yet and when we come back perfect. It is Women's
History Month, and so we're going to celebrate somebody who
we think is amazing. On way up with Angela Yee?
Y When do you ask what you bring to the table?
Tell them you brought the table. What do you up with?
Angela Yee celebrating the ladies doing Women's History Month? What's up?
It's a way up with Angela Yee And y'all know
it is Women's History Month. Today is Thursday, March twenty third,

(33:39):
and today I would like to honor somebody who is
an icon and a role model of mine and who
I happen to know personally, Angie Martinez. Listen, Angie Martinez
does not like to get these accolades. By the way,
she's also a Capricorn, but she is somebody that if
anyone does radio male female. You should be looking up
to her, all right. She is from New York City

(34:01):
and she's also nicknamed the Voice of New York. But
she's not just in New York. She got inducted into
the Radio Hall of Fame in twenty twenty, and she
first started working in the radio station when she was
only sixteen years old. She was answering the phones. Can
you imagine that? She's also acted. She's been an artist.
She hates talking about how she was a recording artist,
but yes she was, and by the way, a damn

(34:22):
good one. She even put out an album. In addition
to that. Angie Martinez is also a best selling author,
and she has a book out called My Voice. We
actually had a chance to talk to her about her
book and the impact that she's had on radio in general.
Listen to this. There are certain people you felt like, Okay,
I'm telling stories about some of these people in my book,
and maybe some of them are not going to be

(34:43):
in the most flattering light in their opinion, but it's
your story and what really happened from your appointing view.
Did you have to say, Okay, let me let them
know I'm torn about it because I feel like whatever happened,
people know happen. So I'm not saying anything that's not true.
Number one, and it's some people, but those are my
feelings I don't talk about. It's not from a judgmental

(35:05):
or I'm trying to hurt nobody. I'm just telling you,
like what my route is and how I learned lessons
because of things that happened. So as long as it's
under that umbrella, I felt okay with it. Not only that,
Anie has an exclusive interview that she has not even
released with Tupac Shakur. It would have been his last
no holds Barred interview, but she never aired it in
its entirety. She's never really disgusted too much. You could

(35:28):
read about that in her book. But what I love
about Angie is that she's not about trying to run
up those numbers and do anything for a moment. She
really does care about the people who she interviews, and
she also talks about her own personal life. I think
most importantly, she's a mom. Her son, Nico is amazing.
I know she's excited. You know, she raised him as
a single mom while having this illustrious career, and by

(35:49):
the way, he's in college and I know she's so
proud of him for that. Right now, Angie Martinez has
her own podcast, and when I tell you this is
a heavy hitting podcast in the real life with Angie
Martin Tinez, I mean she kicked it off with an
exclusive Lauren London interview. She's had everybody on there, from
Mike Tyson to JT from the City Girls to Ashanti Usher,

(36:10):
Kelly Rowland. Oh and let me not forget. She also
interviewed Kim Kardashian. Most recently, she had Kelly Clarkson on
and here's what they had to say. You do not
have to attend an argument, like every argument that comes
your way, Like my therapist is like, you don't have
to attend every time someone invites you to an argument.
And that's like, you know, every time somebody they plague

(36:31):
you and they try and say something, I'm like and
I'm like, Okay, I'm gonna I'm gonna not attend that
the same way I'm stoled. Are you happy? How happy
are you on once to attend, I am going to steal.
I am not going to attend that today. No. I look,
I got from my parents so unable to attend, so
shout out to Auntie Martinez. You can see anybody that
sits down with her really trust her. She gets to

(36:53):
the meat of it. But she also is the type
of person that gives you the humanity that you deserve.
So for Women's History Month, would like to celebrate you,
Miss Angie Martinez. And coming up next, let's celebrate somebody
else who's an icon, and that would be Miss Pat.
We have Master Year of Comedy featuring Miss Pat. It's
way up with Angela yea ye, what's up? It's way

(37:19):
up with Angela yee. I'm here and the Jasmine brand
is here with me. Happy Thursday. My favorite day is
my favorite day of the week, really more than a Friday. Yes,
because on a Saturday. Yes, it's my favorite. It's my
favorite day of the week Thursday because you're getting ready
for Friday exactly. Yeah, Okay, it's anyone's favorite day Monday, No,
hit us up and let us know. Yes, I would

(37:39):
like to know. Yeah. I do like Fridays though Friday
because we still get to come into work and have
a good time, but then know that we don't have
to do anything the next day unless we're still working.
Thursday is like anticipation. Okay, I feel like sometimes at
work Fridays or like the rowaway days, I used to
always say that, Yeah, but it's still a fun you know,
Friday fun. Yeah, throwaway days are really fun. And you

(38:00):
know they're trying to do this four day work week thing. Yeah,
would you be down with that? It depends. I think
as a business owner, it's harder to say that it's
a great idea because thirty two hours and then after
that is overtime is expensive for a small business owner. Spencer.
Also for my line of work, you know, the jazz member,
and we don't get to take days off in terms
of like work. Yeah. So and you can work from

(38:21):
anywhere though, which is good. Yeah, you can work remotely,
which I love. Sorry, Well, and I can't imagine that
being here Monday through Friday. Well, A way up with
Anti layde with you guys, Yeah, look at us, And
I do want to say, I am really grateful. How
long has it been? Two months? Wow, it's been a
couple of months. I don't even know. I used to
keep track of how many days the show has been on,

(38:43):
but now I feel like we're at the point where
I don't have to keep track anymore. How does it
feel to have your own show? It feels great. You know,
when I was as serious, I had my own show,
but it was a little different. Okay, what's the difference. Um,
I think I was younger and newer back then, and yeah,
and so I don't think I realized the significance of

(39:05):
it yet, Okay. And then now being here at I
heard and then I was on the Breakfast Club for
thirteen years. That's longer than a lot of marriages. Yeah,
two years is too soon, but um yeah, So I
just feel like really grateful to have this opportunity to
still be here after all this time. It's been almost
twenty years of radio for me. This year, I'll be
celebrating my twentieth year. Oh, we got to do something

(39:27):
doing radio Angela. Let's do any excuse for a party, girl,
any excuse for a party. But I do want to
think everybody who's come through so far. Yeah, I mean,
this show for me has been you know. I try
to make it really uplifting, different than anything I've ever
done before. I take a lot of time and care
with these segments. We do have some more segments coming, yes, Yeah,

(39:48):
I can't wait for um, yeah, I don't want to
ruin it, so go ahead. Yeah, but we did just
at Gurus of the Graham that's on Instagram. It could
be about like love, it could be financial gurus, it
could be health and wealth and wellness gurus. I feel
like the ones that I'm always watching are the ones
about relationship. I know, and they annoy me so funny.

(40:08):
I mean, sometimes it makes sense. Sometimes you feel like
that's common sense. Sometimes you're like I totally disagree with that,
and sometimes you're like, yo, this is right on point. Yeah, yeah,
you're right. But that's that's one of my favorite new
ones that you have. Yeah, Gurus of the Graham. All right,
well we do have Miss Pat coming up. It is
a Thursday, so it is a Mastery of Comedy Day.
That's another segment I came up with just because I
actually did a Facebook show called Mastery or Comedy where

(40:30):
we had veteran comics paired up with up and coming comedians,
and so I wanted to just bring that here and
highlight some comedians who I think are great, whether they're
further along in their career or newhere just because I
feel like y'all amazing and laughing is therapy. Yes, okay,
so I do. And Miss Pat is coming up on

(40:50):
Way Up with Angela Yee more, Now what's up? It's
way up with Angela Yee Jasmine brand. Of course he's
here with me. And you know I love comedians that
it's like my favorite thing to do ever is always
going to a comedy show and said, we have one
of the top terror comics in the room with us,
Miss Pat. Hey, thank y'all for having me not just
a comic though, but also an author yes, also creator. Right,

(41:16):
you have your own show of the Miss Pat Show.
Also you have a deal with BT plus, bt plo,
dot com, viat com, I mean an entrepreneur all of that.
So congratulations on everything. Thank you folks to abortions, claim
them all. And those are things that you talk about
on the Miss Pat Show. Though yes, yes, some people

(41:36):
I feel like shy away from having those real conversations. Well,
I think the network likes to shy from shy away
from having real conversations. And the great thing about streaming
is it allows you to go there. So the only
difference between Miss Pat showing any other show is just
it was a void out there for a for a
mother like me. So they will always put mothers on

(41:56):
TV that was perfect, right, Ain't nobody perfect? Right? You know,
I'm a mother on TV that's a convicted felons. There's
a lot of mothers that convicted felas. So for years,
the industry just left that blank and they didn't want
to they didn't want to give that those people a voice,
and I'm just that voice for them, and that's why
I worked all right now, I remember you also talk about,
you know, from the darkest places, and you've been through

(42:18):
a lot. That's where you can find humor in that,
and that's kind of how you take control and power
over that narrative. Is there anything that you haven't been
able to laugh at in your life? Well? I think
it was season two. The first season, we wanted to
do an episode about my mom and boy's friend molested
though who wrote the episode and everything? And then I
was like, I'm not ready to tell this, and so

(42:40):
we had to strip rid and everything. I just went
to the network. I said, we gotta pull it. I'm
not ready. We did it in a second season, and
I tell you, when we did it in a second season,
it was so healing for me. So that would be
the biggest thing for me, you know, getting that out there,
and so many people called me. It was like, I mean,
so many people wrote me. It was like, oh my god,
miss pet, thank he for telling that. Because so many

(43:01):
women are set to speak up about molest station, and
people also shut it out, like up their lives and
their thoughts. There's things that happened that you're like, I
don't know if this is true, really happened? That's what
several times I have to call my sons. I'd be like,
did that really happen? Because my mom and boyfriend would
take us to the graveyard and molest us, and so
as you get older, you started thinking, is this a dream?

(43:22):
It's just what was crazy? Because my friend threw me
a surprise birthday party when I turned fifty, and I
pull up at this place where I never go, and
I was like, why the hell they got me over here?
So I get to the party and everybody say surprised,
and I was like, and I get the mic. I
said who through the party and it was my girl question,
who do my head? I said, did you ever done
on you? That? That's the cemetery a cross street where

(43:43):
he molested us? Saying, which I thought was hilarious, but
the whole room went, what I mean because if you
can't I'm fifty, I can't cry by the crowd. The
man is dad. What it's done is done. I just
find left in it now. I sat aside that you
I recently said that you wanted to do another buck
and yeah, it's like, do you know what it's gonna

(44:03):
be on that It's in't the work, but I don't know.
It probably be some essays or something. Who knows. Because
a lot has happened. Your life is so different. Now,
what do you think has been the most exciting time
that you can be like, I can't believe I'm here. Like,
have you had one of those surreal experiences? Yes? And
it was when I went to my husband last year

(44:23):
in December and I said, you could retire? Who I retired?
My husband? We worked at General Motives for almost twenty
two years and he had about six about eight years
ago because he needed thirty and I said, you could retire.
What do you say? Initially? What's the first thing he said?
He left that was, you know, that's that's one of

(44:45):
the big biggest moments of that's amazing and now, he said,
at home and get on my damn them. Glad he
stuck it through. It was thirty years because I was
a hood rank. His mama did not like me. Oh no, no,
no she did. She love me more. But in the
end we was okay. But in the beginning it was rough. Hunter.

(45:07):
She was like, you taking my good Christian's son. You're
a drug dealer. You're a check like Maya, you're bid.
I'm leaving for you. Take tear. Maya bid won't old
Jane Brown looking half with them? Yeah, you always as
like a little girl. You always. I was a musty
kid at school, so the key kids will mess with me.
I had to learn how to jone. I hadn't learned
how to talk back and fight its way up with

(45:29):
Angela yet. And this is a segment to call the
mastery of comedy. You know, I'm a huge fan of comedy,
all right, but we all know miss pat and she's
here with us and your headlining. Now, these aren't just
comedy rooms. These are more like bigger theaters. Theaters is
called your girl don't made it? Okay? I love that.
When did you first feel like I made it? Let's

(45:51):
be honest, I mean, the last three years has been
really great for me. And I'm such a big d
I wire. So I saved my money and I said it.
I said, I'm gonna build me a mansion because if
I didn't want to buy a mansion, because I didn't
want you know, I wanted what I wanted, and so
I said, I want to customize it all of that.
So I saved over a million dollars and I built

(46:14):
me a mansion. Let's not brush off that I saved
over a million dollars. I built me a mansion, made it, okay,
I got it, got it, and I boss. I bought
seven acres. I knocked the house. Damn no, no general contract,
and I did I how to architect, and I made
some mistakes. But that thing going up and get expected tomorrow.

(46:36):
Well you know that's a huge deal. And building a
house is way cheaper than buying when already built that
you're gonna need to fix anyway. And then sometimes people
do these flips and they do them so cheap. Oh
get actually, you want here something crazy? So I go
with my nephew house, and I'm such a deal. I
just I don't want to see anybody living in shingles.

(46:57):
That's me. So I go to my nephew house and
he didn't want me to come over, but somehow ended
up over there. He bought a flip house and had
mold all in the bathroom, and I was like, oh
my god. Yea, I said, I'm gonna remote your house,
and he was like, what I said, I'm gonna remote
your whole house. What happened was I bought a lot
of stuff for the house that I said, make a mansion.

(47:18):
Then I realized I need to customize a mansion. So
I had about all of these capitals from these little
place called lows. You know what, I'm a second place
about all of this stuff, and I couldn't use it anymore.
So I have a house full of stuff that will
make your house look nice. So I just went in
this house and I tore his upstairs there and I
and when I had it all put back, and I

(47:39):
just finished his two bedroom, three bedroom and two bathrooms.
I started in the bathroom. So now moving to the
kitchen in the living room. And it has blown his
mind because I said, yourself passionate about it too. That's why, Yeah,
I love thee And it's just you know, anybody that
you know, like when they in need, especially family members
to see that smile on his face. He's the first

(48:00):
time homeowners, but he bought a piece of crap. They
tricked him, and I told him, I said that how
your house is on a hundred twenty thouars, there's no
where you're gonna go in a good school system and live.
You just got got But I'm gonna help you. I
put him whof on this house. I don't done the
three bedrooms. And I had already had a cabinets for
the kitchen. I thought I was gonna put in my customer.
I said, boy, you already got a cabinets in the box.

(48:22):
So every time I'm telling to throw some away, I
got the trash can out there. I got him at
going up, I got everything going on for that's amazing.
And that's a good lesson to Larando, because I will say,
when someone's behind the house, make sure you get it
inspected by a therapy, got it expected, but through the
relative third party, yeah, independently, don't. And I told him,
I said, she wanted to make the sale, so that's

(48:44):
why she made sure you bought this house. Girl. They
had water dumping up on the house. I had to
have the whole trench dug out, but it's here, no there.
I just think God every day that I'm blessed to
be able to do this for him. Yes, yes, and
it's it's he has a little boy named Dream right
and he was like everything knew? All right? This is

(49:05):
way up with Angela Yee and the very talented and
I love her. Miss Pat is here with us, and
we got more with her when we come back on
Way Up with Angela Yee. Yeah, she back at it,
bringing bringing the Mica is on What's up? It's way
up with Angela Yee And this is a segment called
the Mastery of Comedy. You know, I'm a huge fan

(49:26):
of comedy. All right, Well we all know Miss Pat
and she's here with us, and you know what else
I was thinking about because you know we've heard your story.
I read your autobiography right this show the Miss Pashaw
was based a lot on your life. But when it
comes to your kids and when you were raising them
because you were a young mother, you know, do you
have tough conversations with them about things that happened when

(49:47):
they were young that they were like, Ma, you know,
coming up it was hard because you were going doing
this or you know what. With me and my daughter
had a conversation probably five years ago because I got
arrest it and when she went to kindergarten, and that
did something to her that I wasn't there for her
first school and I did time. I did a year

(50:08):
and a half and for the longest she held it
over my head and so I had to go back.
And that's one of the that's one of the biggest regrets,
not being able to see her and go to kindegar.
But I had to tell her. I said, do you
realize I was your mother? But I was fourteen, right,
And I said, all I was trying to do is survive.
So I wasn't even supposed to had you. So I

(50:31):
didn't know them by being no damn mama. But all
I knew is that I love you and I wanted
to survive and I wanted to protect you. I'm going
through the things that I went through, and you know,
I was selling drugs, I went while I was in
abusive relationship, and she was there to see a lot
of that and a lot of that. Just you they
just put a wedge in our relationship for years. It's

(50:51):
the oldest. Yeah, my oldest. She's thirty six now, right, Yeah,
So you know, that's one of the conversations that we've
had several times. It's amazing that she had to realize.
I don't think she realized her mother was fourteen, yeah,
because I can't. It's hard to fathom. I think what
I was doing, Yeah, I mean now, and I'm not
mature in certain ways, and I'm a mom, you know
what I mean, being fourteen, I can't imagine. I have

(51:13):
a fourteen year old at my house where I've customed
my niece keys and I look at them like, oh
my god, I had a damn baby with when I
was there. Age here they are playing video games. And
maybe what I love about the Miss Pat Show is
some of the episodes became related. You had one that
was like Botox and fillers, right, there was a Fillers
party that you guys had and then you had a
bad reaction in the episode. But there is so much pressure,

(51:36):
Like I said Tammy Roman when she was on the
Breakfast Club talking about like just looking at herself and
feeling like you're not perfect. When I found out that
she had that that issue and I told her, I said,
you're beautiful. She said, well, I don't see what you see?
She said, I see fat. I said, if you fat,
the I must be a bliss there. If you're fat,

(51:58):
well what am I? She I, Nenna, look at me.
We still laugh about it to this day. But I
tell her all the time, you know, you just never
know what people are suffering through. Yeah, and she's beautiful.

(52:21):
And I tell her that all the time. I runnomly
takes her, takes her, and she randomly takes me, and
I just tell I said, you're beautiful, right, yeah, And
I tell her I stopped smolling them, got them serirette
you start? Yeah she did? You know? Yeah, she's been
coke coke coke. Yeah, that's yes, you right? You right?

(52:46):
His favorite room in the mansion, I ain't no matching.
It's a house. Ahead. I put a beauty salon in there.
See now I did I put a beauty salt? I did?
Do you have a beauty sulne in the house. I
put four laundry rooms in there? Okay, that's yeah, definitely

(53:07):
a man. But it's just my designed four laundry rooms
because it's three floors with the elevator. So the girls
are upstairing the four and my son is and I
built the podcast house to to do it sounds like
a lovely house. It is mansion, a lovely mansion. Can
we own the mansion. I'm on the red house because

(53:29):
if you say house, you won't spend as many taxes.
But you gotta be smart match to get you more
tax Thank you so much for coming through. Honestly, it
is a pleasure to have you here always. You know,
every time I see you and you show nothing but
love and I appreciate it each and every time now
because I love to see you win all the time.

(53:51):
So thank you. I'm going to thank you. And that's
pat mastery of comedy. And when we come back, we
have asked Ye. The number is eight nine fifty one fifty.
Ask Ye is a segment that I actually kept with
me from the Breakfast Club. And that's when you guys
get to call in and ask for advice. And we
are here to help on way up with Angela Yee
with its relationship or career advice, Angela's dropping facts. This

(54:16):
is ask Ye What's up? Its way up with Angela Yee,
and it is ask Ye eight hundred two nine two
fifty one fifty is a number we'd love to hear
from you. And we have Jaalen with a question, Hey,
miss Ye, how you doing? Hey jay Len, what's your
question for? Ask ye? My question is how do you
deal with in laws who overstep without offending anyone or

(54:41):
coming off as like being disrespectful? Well, tell me what
you mean by overstep just overstepping in a sense, so
pretty much just getting in business. I feel like you
shouldn't be in Can you give us an example. I
just feel like a lot of things like telling me
like her my wife boy, and not even really her father,

(55:01):
it's a stepfather. He'll say things like, oh, you need
to there's a bunch of needs or not, instead of
telling me what he thinks I should do. Is you
need to this or you need to that? Instead of
just giving me like his opinion, it's more like an order.
Is it possible to just say thank you and keep

(55:22):
it moving and not feed into it? I mean, yeah,
that's true. I could do that, just say thank you
and keep it moving, but it's kind of Amy'll also
do it like in front of folks too, so it's
almost like ego stroking Almo swarm right, right, and listen,
that's not your problem. That sounds more like his problem.
And sometimes we feed into things because then that's your

(55:45):
ego too, Like why would he do that in front
of that? When sometimes you're making something maybe a bigger deal.
You can't control what someone else does, but what you
can't control is your reaction, right, that's true, And so
what you can say is just be like, all right,
thank you. Always love when you tell me what I
need to do. Thumbs up, you know, because for real,

(56:05):
because like you said, it's his ego, so he's doing
that and he knows what your reaction is going to be.
So sometimes when you don't give people what they're trying
to get from you, that's what it'll make them stop,
rather than you having to be confrontational because it feels
like maybe that's kind of what he wants. Right, Yeah,
that's true, That makes perfect sense. I appreciate that because

(56:26):
you know, I'm petty. I'll be like, oh, what else
do I need to do? Word? Okay, well cool, dude,
do me a thing. Can you write all that and
send it to me in a text? Exactly exactly? Yeah,
but look, control your own reaction, because I feel like
things can get blown out of proportion when you have
this like kind of building up in you and you

(56:47):
can just let it go. I mean, because it sounds
and I could be wrong, and I don't want to
downplay how you're feeling. But it seems like it is
something that bothers you. But if you can learn to
put it into perspective and deal with it differently, than
it could be something that doesn't have that same effect
on you because you're letting it affect you, right, Let

(57:09):
makes sense, you know, And if you could talk to
your wife about it too. I feel like as long
as she knows how you feeling, she respects it, then
it's always team you against them, you know, And she does,
she does respect it, but I don't. I don't. I
also don't want to put her in a bad spot
to where she's having to pick a side. Hut. Yeah,
well she needs to pick your side, so it's okay, Yeah, yeah,

(57:32):
that's true. And when he does it, all she gotta
do is give you a hug. And every time he
does it, and y'all just have your own little inside
laugh joke communication about it, and then it could turn
into a joke like, Okay, when he comes today, let's
write down how many times he says what I need
to do? I don't tell. Yeah, I'm gonna try to
and we'll laugh about it. Exactly. A nice, a private

(57:53):
joke and let us know how it works here. But listen,
anytime you start getting bad, just counter ten backwards in
your head. That will calm you right down. Yeah, okay,
I'll do that, all right, bye, all right, thank you?
All right, Well that was ask ye. Jalen is funny.
He sounds like he was a cool guy. Yeah he was.
He sounds concerned, but you know, reasonable, right right, all right, Well,

(58:15):
we have last word when we come back. And that's
when you guys, of course, because this is your show,
you get to have the last word. Eight hundred two
nine two fifty one fifty is a number. At all
times you can have the last word. Just call us up.

tapping and get your voice heard with the word bitch

but we celebrate all year round. Yeah, we're not done.
We're definitely not done. Always trying to do whatever we can.
And look, I'm always looking for mentorship too. Some people
consider me a mentor. I'm always asking for help. Angel
Do you have a mentor? I haven't had any one
specific mentor, But there's different people I go to for
different things. Okay, and so and I appreciate all of that. Yes, okay,

(59:20):
So you guys, this is time for last word. This
is when y'all get to leave your messages throughout the
show in case we don't get to you, or maybe
it's after the show and you want to call in.

great friend. She has hundreds of seizures a day. But
when I say she takes kell of her daughter so
well by herself, she's autistic, right And when I say
