Speaker 1 (00:01):
You are now Angela what I call her?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Ye?

Speaker 3 (00:13):
All right, it's a Monday. It's way up with Angela.

Speaker 4 (00:16):
Yee.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
I'm here with y'all today. I'm excited about this man.
The weekend was it was a crazy weekend. My god
daughter was here on Friday and she's actually going back
to college today.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Shout out to my little girl, Nia.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
She's always a little girl to me, even though she's
about to be twenty one years old.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
My producer Dan is here. You met Nia?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
What do you think? She's sweet? It's nice.

Speaker 5 (00:37):
She's such a little sweetheart.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
I know.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
I was literally in the hospital when she was born.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
I like her energy.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Yeah, so shout out to her. But of course we
have a great show for you today. Another person whose
energy we love is Ange Day. She's going to be
joining us. She's the star of The Deliverance, which is
going to be in theaters on the sixteenth, correct, all right,
we liked that. I already saw the movie twice.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
How about that, Lee daniels Is.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
It's his movie, The Deliverance, and I actually went to
the screening, so he gave a lot of information. But
we'll talk about that later. In the meantime, let's shine
a light. Let's do something positive eight hundred two nine
two fifty one fifties.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
And I'm gonna call this up.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Let us know who you want to shine a light on.
It's way up, a shine a Maine.

Speaker 6 (01:20):
Turn your lights on, y'all, spreading love to those who
are doing greatness.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Hina, light on, shine the light on.

Speaker 7 (01:29):
It's time to shine a light on.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
All right, this way up, I'm Angela Yee and it's
time to shine a light. And today we have to
shine a light and we're gonna talk about this more
on Jordan Chiles.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Now she is really going.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Through a cheese being forced to return her bronze and
being stripped of her bronze. Imagine what that feels like.
She's taking a break from social media because of that.
This is very unusual. Usually when people have to return
their Olympic medal, it's for cheating. But they're saying that
there was four seconds in which they the judges on
which they didn't submit whatever appeal that they had, and

(02:03):
so now the USA is actually fighting that and appealing
that decision. But I can't imagine what it must have
felt like, because I know there was a lot of
racism going on people were actually calling this the DEI
Olympics to have three black women having the gold, silver,
and bronze at one time. And so I can't even

(02:23):
imagine mentally what she's going through because she definitely deserves
her accolades and to have this be something that's so public.
If you could see the social media comments and what
people have been saying to her, it's been awful. And
I saw her sister speak out about it as well,
but that inquiry was submitted in time, according to a
new video by USA Gymnastics, so we shall see what happens.

(02:44):
But you know, her sister is definitely going hard, and
she said, fact, the only way to strip a medal
is via cheating or drugs. Jordan Child's in fact did neither,
and because you know, her score was changed because she
earned it, and so this has to be something so
hard for her to go through. So we're shining a

(03:05):
light on her and sending her so much love right now. Now,
who do you guys want to shine a light on?
Eight hundred fifty fifty Eric?

Speaker 1 (03:12):
How are you? Who do you want to shine a
light on?

Speaker 4 (03:14):
I'm good, but I want to sign the light on
my wife.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Hey, happy wife, happy life.

Speaker 7 (03:20):
You know that's right.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Go ahead, let me be quiet, Go shine a light, man.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
I'm just want to shine and loner because she's been
dealing with a lot past couple of weeks, dealing with
death and the family. I want her to know that
I'm always going to be here for no matter what,
and that I love her and always to keep her head.
I got her and God got us.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Oh my god, this is amazing. Okay, well, thank you
so much for calling a shining light. That's what this
is all about.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
What's her name?

Speaker 4 (03:47):
I appreciate Kanya Games.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Tanya Games.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
We love you and we lift you up and we
pray for you, and you know you have an amazing
husband too, so let's keep it going.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
Thank you, all right, thank you?

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Well that was Shina Light eight hundred and two ninety
two fifty one fifty in case you couldn't get through.
And when we come back, we have your yee tee.
And let's start it off with Tamar Braxton. She is
going through it while she's filming for the Braxton Family
Value Show. We'll tell you what she had to say
on social media, but also what she told me when
I ran into her in La it's way up.

Speaker 8 (04:21):
This says in the rooms.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
From industry shade to all of gosp out send. Angelas
is feeling that yet side too him.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
It's way up. I'm here and my producer dance here.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
That's fact, all.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Right, Tamar Braxton, y'all, she is going through it, it
seems now. She went on social media and said, y'all,
I'm going through it. I'm single and set and this
TV ish is a lot. Then she said Jr. Means
the world to me. Thank God for him, my husband
and my children has saved my life. But I'm so
mad at my life. My family is toxic. I should
have never went back to Braxton family values never. Y'all

(04:57):
have no idea none. The gas lighting is. It's crazy
and I'm going back into treatment. OMG. I just pray
that my marriage can be saved and my life can
be spared. My family is awful.

Speaker 9 (05:08):
Now.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
I'm not sure what's going on while they're filming, but
she's had issues with that show before. I never thought
that they would come back, and even when I ran
into her at BT Awards when we talked about the
show coming back, here's what she had to say.

Speaker 10 (05:20):
The Breakfast is coming back. But you know, I'm more
like a friend to the show. Okay, but it's all
about Tracy and you know, celebrating her life. It's something
that she wanted to do before she passed, and so
we just you know, made that happen for her.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Man, you could go into something with the best intentions
and you never know what's going to happen on reality TV.
Let me tell you all right now, there was a
Boosy Badass concert in Iowa, and unfortunately before the before
the show even started, there were some gunshots and two
men were killed. Unfortunately, the concert was shut down. Now

(05:53):
I don't think that well, clearly Boosey didn't know what
was happening and why it was shut down. He was
waiting hours and he wasn't aware that this is what happened,
and so he had taken to social media and said, this.

Speaker 7 (06:04):
Been in a bag a couple of hours waiting to perform.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
They just shut the call shut down.

Speaker 7 (06:09):
I don't know what they happening at the front, but.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
The party don't stop, all right, so they said.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
The circumstances surrounding the shootings still remained unclear, but it
was two men, both in their late twenties from Omaha,
Nebraska unfortunately, So our condolences to their families as we're
waiting to find out what happened. And let's take it
back again to Jordan Childs and what's happening with her.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
So there's another major twist.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
We said Sunday yesterday, the USA Gymnastics has obtained new
video evidence showing that her coach did submit the inquiry
into her score and the women's floor exercise final before
the one minute deadline that was forty seven seconds after
her score was announced to be exact. So part of
what happened with this ruling is they're saying that she
didn't submit it in the one minute timeframe that she

(06:54):
was supposed to. Now, Jordan Childs's sister, Jasmine Child's went
on social media and said, because run her metal back
getting on this app so I can go to war
from my baby sis. The only way to strip a
medal is via cheating or drugs. Jordan Chileds in fact
did neither, and then she broke it down. She said
a gymnastic score consists of two numbers, difficulty and execution.

(07:15):
The judges misnumbered her difficulty, not how well she executed.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
The floor routine.

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Her score was changed because they didn't award her difficulty. Therefore, regardless,
her score was too low and so as the amazing
coach that she is, Cecil inquired and boom, her score
was changed because she earned it.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
And that's just to put it in perspective.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
And cell y'all know, I met Jordan Childs for the
first time on Friday, did an interview. But we're going
to hold on to that until all of this is
rectified and we see what can happen, because hopefully she
is going to get her metal back, right.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Dan, Yes, in respect to the family.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
And respect to the family, in respect to her, absolutely,
you know, and I see it continue. A lot of
her teammates are definitely standing up for her. Of course,
Simone Biles put up a picture of the two of
them and said, and you so much love Jordan, to
keep your chin up, Olympic champ, We love you. And
Sunny Lee also commented all this talk about the athlete,
what about the judge, is completely unacceptable.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
This is awful and I'm gutted for Jordan.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Jordan also posted broken heart emojis on Instagram and she
said she's off social media taking this time removing myself
from social media.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
He already says that social media is such a tough place,
so tough.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
So it's like the highlight of her life, and then
it just got like the rug just got pulled out
from under her.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
I really hope that y'all get to hear this incredible
interview because it really is amazing. So I'm excited for
that and for her to be able to keep her
medal And sorry that you have to go through all
of this. All right, Well that is your ut, and
I just want to have a bone to pick with you.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Dan.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
You know team USA when they're fifth straight men's basketball
gold medal, they did, but you did not mention the
women's team.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Oh that was an accident.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
And the US women's team actually got their eighth consecutive
gold medal.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
How you forgot that?

Speaker 2 (08:55):
That was an accident? All right?

Speaker 3 (08:56):
I was watching that, all right, don't play with us.
All right, Well that is your Yet. When we come back,
we have about last night. That's where we discussed what
we did last night. I got a new hair due
who it is all right, it's way.

Speaker 7 (09:06):
Up, So about last night, Yes, I went down last night.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
It's way up. I'm here.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
My producer Dan is here, and so as Jack and See.
I went to my friend Paris who works in me
also her hair salon if you can see me, and
got my hair trimmed and straight. And I never wear
my hair straight anymore.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
I didn't recognize you when I walked up.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
That's a lie.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
But everybody keeps saying, it's so interesting to me, how
straight here? Like people really like straight here as opposed
to curl. I used to wear my hair straight all
the time. Curl Fest, by the way, is coming up
this weekend in Brooklyn on the seventeenth.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
But talk about your straight hair.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Yeah, well, I mean I straightened it. I never really
straightened my hair. I'm actually like, I like it, but
I look forward to you know, curls are just easier
for me. It's easier because I don't have to This
is a process, like to blow dry your hair, then
press it and all of that. That's a lot to
go through and they're having heat on your hair all
the time. So now I'm trying to figure out, like

(10:09):
what else am I going to do? Because if y'all notice,
I'm always in braids because I don't feel like doing
my hair and you may have seen me getting my
braids done up here, shout out to Destiny, and even
sometimes I'm like on a whim, like can you come
up here just give me some quick jembo braids because
I don't feel like doing my hair and I don't
have time to like sit and get you know, a
little tiny.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Micro braids either. So you know, things you don't have
to think about.

Speaker 9 (10:30):
Dan.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
But the other thing that I did over the weekend,
everybody keeps talking about Love Island?

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Did you wash it?

Speaker 11 (10:36):
So?

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Speaking of it?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
And when I say everybody, I mean Jordan, who you've
heard on lip Service from Summerhouse Martha's Vineyard. So I
started watching season one, so I'm starting from the beginning.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Do you like it?

Speaker 2 (10:47):
I was kind of forced into watching it.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
Yet it's a cruel show, wild, it's so.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
Craol, it's entertaining, super messy, it's super entertaining.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
My goodness, Like, but I guess you know, I love
Island and I know I'm sure there's a lot of people.
The fact that I just now started watching it and
I have to catch up. Haven't started watching the UK
when my friend Janey was staying with me last week
and she's like a Love Island fanatic.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
She'll sit up there and watch it all day.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
You were watching the right one, right, because there's a
bunch and everyone was saying the one on Peacock is
the one with the major viewership.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
But I thought that it's all the same ones. It
just plays on different networs.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
There has different seasons with different cast member.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
Well I started on season.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
One with which service on Hulu? Oh, you're on the
wrong one.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
What's the difference the cast? But isn't it the same?

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Like the concept is the same, but five the concept
is the same. But depending on which cast depends on
the viewership and the status of it. And it was
this recent one on Peacock that everyone was obsessed with.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
All right, let me look this up. But anyway, that's
what I did, So we'll talk about that some more.
I'm sure now it's time for you guys to tell
us a secret. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one
fifty Get it started. Tell us a secret eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty year anonymous Mayno's not here,
so there's no judgment.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
We just want to hear what you have to say.

Speaker 3 (12:03):
But we also want to help you as far as
you getting this burden off of you and telling us
your deepest, darkest secret eight hundred two nine two fifty
one fifty.

Speaker 11 (12:11):
Oh yea, this is a judgment free zone.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Tell us a secret, all right, y'all Happy Monday, and
you know on way up with Angela, yee, this is
where we do tell us a secret.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Damn remember coming up with this segment.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Yes, I do. There's fun being in the boardroom with
your Oh my.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Gosh, well, anyway, we want to hear your secrets.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
It's anonymous, it's no judgment eight hundred two ninety two
fifty one fifty anonymous.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Call it what's your secret?

Speaker 2 (12:34):
So I just left an abiet of relationship Saturday. The
person I was dating beat me up.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Oh my gosh, that's awful. I'm so sorry to hear that.
But I'm so glad you left.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
I just filed a protect.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
You in order today, Yes, as you should.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
So I'm like, I don't know, feel free, but I'm sad.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
You know, I'm gonna be honest.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
I had to do that before too, and get an
order of protection, and it was the best.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Thing I ever did.

Speaker 11 (13:01):
Well. That gives me hope.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Honestly, it definitely should. I'm so glad you left. You
don't want to end up in a worse situation or
not even here with us anymore. And you can never
feel bad for somebody that will put their hands on
you or feel sympathy toward them, because clearly they don't
feel a way about you if they're doing that.

Speaker 11 (13:20):
Yeah, that's what my mom was saying.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
She was like, people don't love you if they can
put their hands on you.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Honestly, whatever they get is what they deserve. If you
get a order protection and they violate that and they
end up in jail, that's on them, that's not on you.
I agree, don't go back. I'm not I would say, also,
no communication. If you have to change your number, block
your number, whatever it is that you have to do.

(13:45):
I'm glad you told your mom and that your mom knows,
because sometimes it takes a village of people to make
sure that you're strong enough to do what you need
to do for yourself. But an experience like this should
make you stronger in the future.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
That's all you can do. Yes, absolutely, thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
All right, congratulations, thank you, all right.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Hey Anonymus Kola, how are you I'm all right, good?
You want to tell us a secret, no judgment.

Speaker 12 (14:10):
Yeah, I've been with my girl for the past five years,
but for the past five years I've had an addiction
problem that she does not know about.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Ooh, okay, what are you addicted to?

Speaker 12 (14:23):
Opiate?

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Are you going to try to get help?

Speaker 12 (14:27):
Yeah, I mean the process of trying to do that,
because I really do love her and I hate keeping
it a secret from her. So I've really been trying
to trying to figure out way to take care of
myself just but it's hard to do without her knowing.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
At the same time, you know, she will definitely want
to be supportive if you decided to tell her.

Speaker 12 (14:46):
That's the thing. I don't know how it would go.
I'm scared that it won't go good, but I think
that she will be supportive.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
I think that if you're in the process of trying
to get help and her support can.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
Be of assistance to you.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
The kind of person that you would want to be
with is somebody who is supportive of you in a
time like this, and the fact that you're even at
the point where you can admit that you have a
problem and that you're actively trying to do something about it.
That is, you know, if the person that you would
want to be with would be a person that is like,
what can I do?

Speaker 7 (15:18):
Exactly?

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (15:19):
And a lot of times we try to do stuff
and handle things on our own and keep things a secret,
and that only makes it worse.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
Yeah, That's where.

Speaker 12 (15:27):
I'm at now, thinking that it's making it worse, and
then me telling her after so many years.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Is just going to be like I've lied through times.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
What are you doing to get help?

Speaker 12 (15:37):
Right now? I'm currently looking for a treatment plan somewhere.
I'm going to try to find help, but I don't
know too many places.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
All right, hold on, let's see if we can help
you with that. Okay, hold on the line.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
All right. Well that was tell us a secret.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty y'all going
through it on this Monday.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Let me tell you.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
But I appreciate you, guys trusting our community of listeners
on way up enough to be able to call and
share your secrets with us with no judgment. And when
we come back, we have your Yet, and let's talk
about a Kon and Akon city. It looks like there's
some drama with that will tell you the latest of
how he may have to return that land he got

(16:16):
in Senegal.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
It's way up shore.

Speaker 6 (16:18):
She's about to blow the lead ab off this spot.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
Let's get it.

Speaker 6 (16:21):
Oh ye Angelus building that yeete, come and get your tea.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
All right, it's way up I'm here and it's ye
tea time.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Now. I saw this story over the weekend about Akon.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
He had announced plans for this Wakanda inspired city. Remember
he was opening up this Akon city, a six billion
dollar futuristic Wakanda inspired city. Uh, but they're saying that
pretty much nothing has been done now. According to reporting
from Bloomberg, he missed several payments, which is to a
company that is holding the development, that's responsible for development

(16:54):
and boosting tourism in the area. And they actually gave
him a lot of that land. It was granted to
him by the Senegalese government the community. And so now
they're saying that if he doesn't start building on there,
that they're going to take back about ninety percent of
the land that they had granted to him. So hopefully
this will get done. But back in twenty twenty, he

(17:14):
told CNN he's always dreamed of being able to use
his notoriety to make a difference in Africa. He's also
had some issues with his acoin his cryptocurrency. They said
that went from about fifteen cents in November of twenty
twenty two point three in December of last year. So
we'll see what happens with that. But let's get that
built all right now. Jay Z has confirmed he's going

(17:37):
to take full reasonable doubt rights back in twenty thirty one,
and so this is something that always happens, right You're
able to take back the rights to your assets after
a period of time has passed. So this all plays
into the fact that Dame Dash's shares of Rockefeller is
being auctioned off later on this month. So with that

(17:59):
heading to auction, and that's a thirty three point three
percent share in Rockefeller records, whoever buys that will only
be able to have that for a certain period of
time until twenty thirty one.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
That's when it reverts back to jay Z.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Anyway, so you'll be able to make money for just
a period of time on that. And that's a legal
thing that I'm sure was going to happen anyway. All right, Now,
let's talk about Lebron James. People are criticizing him after
he refused a photo with a young fan. People are
also coming to his defense. So he was out celebrating
the team USA men's basketball Olympic gold win. That's when

(18:35):
he was approached by a young man outside of a
nightclub in Paris.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
He got out of his vehicle.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
He was also with his wife, Savannah James, and that's
when a young man asked for a picture. Here's what
that sounded like, Scott, don't do that, all right, So
he told him, don't do that, and he went ahead
and went on inside. So some people were saying, you
should have just gave that kid, you know, a picture
and an autograph, but other people were defending him, saying
that people have to remember celebrities do require personal space.

(19:03):
And they also questioned why this young man was even
in that environment in the first place. But he probably
was there to get a picture in an autograph.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Right, what do you think, Dan, Now, the kid was
definitely waiting, but at the same time, it did look
like the kid went to put his hands on like
Lebron's chester arm or shoulder or something. So I think
when the kid reached that's when Lebron was like, hold up.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Also, sometimes if you're Lebron James and you just won
and you're with your wife, when you stop to take
one picture, yeah, you'll end up taking fifty pictures. And
so it might be like, don't touch me, don't come
too close, don't do this, don't do that. And we've
been seeing a lot of different videos of what's been
going on in Paris as well. You know, we saw
Ayisha Currie and the issues that she was having trying

(19:42):
to get to the car.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
They were saying the president was coming.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
It closed the blockdown in traffic, so that's why she
couldn't get through. But you know, holding a baby and
all of that, that's a difficult time to deal with
that now. Justin Bieber also had some words for a
group of teenagers in Beverly Hills. He was in a
hotel lob. There was footage of him walking around the
waldruf Astoria. I love that hotel out there, and there

(20:05):
was a group of teenagers that were filming and you know,
he was getting really aggravated.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
He did not have his usual security around him.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
He was asking them to leave him alone nicely, but
then started to get annoyed, and he was concerned for
his wife, Haley's safety.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Here's how that sounded. All right, well that is your
yea t Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
It's rude, but teenagers, I mean, you know, I think
with this phone filming type of era that we're in
with TikTok and people wanted to post things on social media,
they definitely feel very entitled and that is your Yet
when we come back, we have under the radar. These
are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines.
They're flying under the radar, but we definitely feel like

(20:52):
you need to know about it. Let's talk about these
cyberchucks that everybody wants. Everybody's been driving from Tesla. We'll
give you some more information of about a cheaper version
of it.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
All right, it's way up and the news.

Speaker 6 (21:02):
That relates to you. These stories are flying under the radar.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
It's way up. I'm here, my guy Dan is here,
my producer. Tesla is halting orders for the sixty one
thousand dollars cyberchruck. The cheapest version is now going to
be one hundred thousand dollars. These are your under the
radar stories. So customers and investors have closely monitored this
whole supply and demand elon mussets At last fall that
Tesla had one million reservations for the truck. Some customers

(21:29):
said they've been waiting for the less expensive version to
be available because its prices have been higher and driving
range is lower than originally forecasted.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
What do you think of these cyber trucks.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Dan, I think they look cool, but also because the
parts are so specific, like everything is so expensive to replace,
like one set of tires is like I forget the
exact number. It was well in the thousands.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yeah, and people were placing reservations with a refundable one
hundred dollar deposit to secure their truck. And so now
if you want to get one minimum price honey graand
any interest. No, I'm not interested in that at all period.
I like my truck.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Also not practical in the city and.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
I park on the street. No thanks, all right now.
Steph Curry, his gold medal performance over the weekend has
propelled France McDonald's France to say that they are not
going to sell curry sauce anymore.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
For at least four years, Hetty.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
They went on social media and posted for obvious reasons,
we are considering removing this sauce makedown and they posted
for four years minimum, and it's the classic Curry.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Sauce go to sleep.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Yeah, clearly they're making a joke about it. But you
were watching that game and like we said.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
Steph Curry put him asleep.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
Put him asleep? All right? Now, raw dogging on a flight?
What is that? It's not what you think. You don't
have to dump that. It's okay.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
So people are posting about raw dogging on these flights.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
What is that?

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Well, that's where you do a long half flight with
nothing but your thoughts. So you sit there and you
can't sleep, you can't have your phone, no water, no food,
just sit there looking at.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
The map right, allowed to watch the flight map.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Yeah, that's about it.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
Why for clout I don't understand. And people keep on
posting about to row dog a five hour flight no food,
no music, no drinks, no talking, no sleep, just me
and the safety instructions. I don't know why anybody would
want to do that, but they're saying it's a way
to reclaim your mental space and get a deeper connection
with your inner self.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
I guarantee as soon as people post that picture. They're
pulling up a movie.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Because they already posted a picture, So you did use
your phone? All right, well, that is your under the radar.
I'm not doing that ever. I just want to say,
by the way, as soon as I get on a flight,
I put a movie on and fall asleep, sleep, and
then I wake up halfway through and I'm like, what's
going on?

Speaker 1 (23:47):
And then I rewind it.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
That's why I'm better off just watching TV shows like
Abbot Elementary. That's my go to quick on the flight
or the Neighborhood twenty minutes. All right, well that is
your under the radar.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
Now, you know.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
We got the way Up mix at the top of
the hour, and I'm so excited for this interview, and
today is going to be joining us. The Deliverance is
going to be in theaters August sixteenth, this Friday, but
also on Netflix August thirtieth. But we got some great, great, great,
great great conversation with ange Day, so exciting.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
It's way up.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
She's like to talk like they Angela Jean, like they
Angela Jean Man.

Speaker 7 (24:18):
She's spilling it all.

Speaker 6 (24:20):
This is Yea Ti Walla.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
All right, his way up.

Speaker 3 (24:25):
I'm Angela yee, and it's time for yo ye t
First of all, shout out to Kamala Harris. She's on
the cover of Time magazine and the title is her Moment,
And so this is all about the reintroduction of Kamala Harris.
So I definitely encourage that you guys read that full
article and pick up that Time magazine. Amazing, amazing. All right,

(24:45):
young thug his Rico trial, Oh my gosh. People were
thinking there was going to be a mistrial, but jurrors
have agreed that they could disregard prior testimony from a
key witness in the case. Jurors were given about one
second to make that decision, walking into court following a
nearly two month break, and so you know, there's a
new presiding judge and.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
It's still going forward.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
This is, by the way, the longest criminal trial in
the history of Georgia.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Now why is how Wood?

Speaker 3 (25:14):
He took the stand today and here is what he
told prosecutors.

Speaker 13 (25:19):
Y'all trying to put people life in my hands. Out
relied on people. I don't want to be here, y'all
help pressuring me. I'm tired of y'all because y'all know,
y'all a room and y'all black people doing these tours.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
Man, you could see all of this on social media.
See him in the courtroom. Here's what else he had
to say about giving up info, basically snitching on young thug.

Speaker 13 (25:43):
So it may seem like I'm trying to help the
thug out. I'm not trying to help him out. I
don't care nothing about him. I care about the truth.
The truth was, I was going through a phrase in
my life and I helped put all the blame on him.
I don't know what he did. I don't know what
he got going on. I made all these storage up
put the blame on him to get myself out of
situation because the police told me they want a big

(26:04):
fish and I'm a little fish.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Man. This is the craziest thing, you know.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
And he did agree to testify after a lot of
debates back and forth. There's sixteen jurists, so five jurors
say they wouldn't be able to disregard these parts. Then
there would have been some problems. It could have been
a mistriald, but they've all agreed to that. My producer, Dan,
you're a huge young Doug fan. What are your thoughts
on all.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
Of this right now.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
I don't know. I feel like it's like tough because
of course I want him out and like making music,
But who knows what really happened.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
And let me tell you something. While he was waiting
to testify, he was live on ig.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
They're also making fun of him falling asleep.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
But everything they asked him, he just said, I don't recall.
And so that's pretty much what's.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Going on right now.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
What do you think of all this?

Speaker 3 (26:56):
I think it's a mess. This whole thing has been
a long drawn out. It feels like.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
It's the longest case in Atlanta history.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Yeah, in Georgia history.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
My whole thing is I feel like this is probably
too young thugs benefit that it's dragging out the way
that it has been interest because I feel like if
it was a clear cut case, that it already would
have been over with.

Speaker 7 (27:22):
See the so.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Presumed innocent Did you show that's out on Apple? No.
They it's like about like court and they said it
always works in the prosecutor disadvantage to drag out a court.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
So it does.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Why because it allows them more time to.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Gain to get more evidence.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
But it feels like the opposite is happening, Like you
see YSL would he come back and say that what
he said earlier right wasn't true? And now he doesn't
recall and they have to disregard what was said earlier.
That there's all these potential mistrials and new judges. It
doesn't feel like but you know, I don't know. I'm
just going off my own thoughts when it comes to that,
because clearly I'm not a lawyer, all right. Rick Russ

(27:59):
is reportedly being sued by a disabled man because of
his car show, all these losses from this car show.
On Friday, this news broke on TMZ. He's being taken
to court by a man named Daris Stratter.

Speaker 7 (28:11):
Now.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
Strata says that he was told more than once that
he would be provided a wheelchair accessible shuttle bus to
take him to the event, but he said the bus
never showed up that day. He said, in addition to
paying for a ticket to the event, he also paid
for lodging and travel and even sold his car so
that he could afford to go to the event. So
now he's suing for breach of contract on just an

(28:32):
enrichment and violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
So not sure what happened.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
I haven't I don't want to say anything, but I
can't imagine selling my car to go to an event.
But I do feel bad and hopefully he at least
can get some of his money back since the shuttle
never came to get him the wheelchair accessible shuttle. All right,
well that is your yet and when we come back,
we have asked yee eight hundred and two nine two

(28:59):
fifty one fifty. He is a number. Any question that
you have, We're here to help you out, because that's
what we do. Again, that's eight hundred two nine to
fifty one fifty.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Its way up? Ask ye is next.

Speaker 6 (29:09):
Whether it's relationship for career advice, Angela's dropping facts, you
should know this.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
Is ask what's up? His way up at Angela Yee.
I'm Angela Yee, and of course I'm here to help
you out, give you any advice and the best way
that I can based off of my own experiences and
the people around me. Now today we have Laala on
the line. What's up, la La Hey?

Speaker 4 (29:28):
How you doing?

Speaker 1 (29:29):
I'm good? How are you? I'm willing the good to
speak to you, good to talk to you to what's
your question today?

Speaker 11 (29:36):
Okay? So I'm want to go and make this guys
for the first time. But we've been video talking for
a very long time and he's got to ask me
to marry him. But he want to ask me in
front of his family. I suppose to be going there Wednesday, okay,
So I'm syctical on it.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Why is that.

Speaker 11 (30:00):
He told me that he was sleeping.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
With a married woman?

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Is it the fact that she's married or is it
that he was with somebody before you?

Speaker 11 (30:11):
It's the fact that she's married, and he's like, yeah,
I don't have time for her, no more. It's only
about you. But she's still calling him.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
Okay, that's the real problem because I was going to
say everybody dealt with somebody before.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
But he's why is he still speaking to her? He doesn't.

Speaker 11 (30:30):
He ignores the phone call. But you know what, he's
in Jamaica.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Okay, So you don't trust him because he doesn't even
live here.

Speaker 11 (30:39):
No, I don't.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
Is he trying to move to the United States? You
think that's part of it? Or are you going to
move there?

Speaker 4 (30:46):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (30:46):
No, I'm not moving there, all right?

Speaker 3 (30:48):
So do you think he's trying to come here? Maybe
marrying you for citizenship.

Speaker 7 (30:52):
It could be.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
Listen, if you're uncomfortable with something, my advice is you
ain't got to do it. You can always wait it
out and see if you feel more c comptable later.
But if you have all these reservations, usually that's a sign.

Speaker 11 (31:05):
Yeah, he made a lot of reservations.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
What you need to do is be like, listen, I
don't want you to propose to me right now, because
we still have a lot of things we need to
work on. I need to feel comfortable knowing that you're
not dealing with anybody else in this situation. Marriage is
a big deal, and so I would rather we wait
until I'm in a space where I can trust you.
You should be able to tell somebody that if you're
dating them an even considering marriage.

Speaker 11 (31:30):
Right, But I already said that. I said, I'm not
going to marry you if I can trust.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
You, right, So you're not going to marry him. You
don't trust him. You got to stick to it. Tell
him don't do that to himself, and don't do that
to you like you're not ready.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
Yeah, and that's okay.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
And if somebody really cares about you and you have
valid reservations. This woman is still on your line and
you don't know what his intentions are. Then I think
you got to go with yourself and trust to you first,
because you trust yourself, right, Oh.

Speaker 11 (32:00):
Yeah, most definitely. My mama did raised no fool.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
Continue to trust yourself and make the decision based off
of what you know.

Speaker 1 (32:08):
Okay, all right, good luck though, thank you?

Speaker 3 (32:11):
All right, Laala, And that was ask ye. Eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty is the number if
you couldn't get through. When we come back, we have
Ange Day joining us. You know her as Billy Holliday
in the United States versus Billy Holliday. You also know
her as an amazing singer of course rise Up. But
you also know her now as the lead in The Deliverance.
That movie is going to be coming out in theaters

(32:32):
this Friday, and we have her on the show next.

Speaker 8 (32:35):
It's way up, Turn up, youab it, way up with
Angela yee?

Speaker 6 (32:39):
There more now, what's up?

Speaker 3 (32:41):
It's way up with Angela ye. I feel like we
did the interviewer Rady, I know.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
I know we gave it away. Y'all will have to
get the bts.

Speaker 3 (32:48):
We had a whole conversation because Keith Sweat was just here. Yes,
and you sample him on your album, Cassandra.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
Yes.

Speaker 9 (32:54):
I was so excited. I was excited to hear he
was here, and he was like, do you want to
meet him? I said yes, literally, he said yes to
the sample. I sampled it on a song called about
It on my album Yes, and so I'm actually singing it.
But it was one of my favorite songs growing up, Twisted.
It was like full circle moment because I was.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
An elleged day. By the way, we already started talking.
I'm sorry, Andre day is here.

Speaker 5 (33:15):
I'm so happy to be here. Thank you for having me.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
But yeah, Twisted singing that as a kid, you didn't
know what that is.

Speaker 11 (33:20):
No.

Speaker 9 (33:20):
I was elementary school walking home and I was stopped
by this man who lived by himself and he would
give candy out to kids. And it's really dark house
with bushes and all this stuff around it. Yeah, thank
god I'm still here the delivery.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
Yeah exactly. So it was full circle, you know what
I mean.

Speaker 9 (33:38):
But I'll just singing Twisted, eating fireballs all the way home,
not knowing what I was singing.

Speaker 5 (33:42):
And then I grew up and I was like damn
ok wait.

Speaker 1 (33:44):
Rested my life for some candy.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Honestly, like I'm so glad to hear I definitely Western
United States versus Billy Holliday. You did such a fun
I didn't realize that was your first like starring role. Yeah,
first acting role, acting her period in the movie. The
way that you who killed that role, thank you so much.
And working with Lee Daniels and clearly he sees what
a great job you did, because here you are starring
in the Deliverance.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
With this cast is crazy.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Oh my is in it? Monique is in it?

Speaker 3 (34:13):
Anjiana Ellis is in it like you had Oh Glenn close,
Oh my god, I'm talking to Ane to day, star
of Lee Daniel's new movie, The Deliverance. But it is
a higher movie, which is my favorite genre. Everybody who
knows me knows that. But it's also based on a
true story.

Speaker 9 (34:27):
Yes, it is the woman's name that the story is
based on. Originally I play Ebony Jackson, but her name
was LaToya Ammon's. It was based actually in Gary, Indiana.
So it will have you out.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
On the edge of your because the anticipation is also
what gets me all the time.

Speaker 9 (34:40):
Plus the drama the family drama, be so deep into it,
and then they'll hit you with something crazy.

Speaker 5 (34:45):
You'll be like, wait a minute, hold long.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
Liked you know what?

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Like your character in there, just the mother's love that
she has for her kids. But how difficult it is, like,
you know, being a single mom raising three children and
not always doing the best you can escapes at times. Yes,
that's a.

Speaker 9 (35:04):
First of all, I love that you clocked that, because
that's what she wants, you know what I mean. But
she's trying to do the best she can do, or
thinking she's doing the best she can do with all
these unhealed, open gaping wounds, she bleeding now and trying
to poor and poor and portant to her kids as
much as she can. And so she's fighting for her kids,
like with the government obviously, you know, trying to take

(35:24):
her kids because they believe she's being abusive where she's
not a fit mother.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
And imagine, how do you explain that my kids got
you know.

Speaker 9 (35:31):
Yeah, because of course, like if you a social work
and somebody like, well my kids got bruises, Well it's demons,
not me.

Speaker 5 (35:36):
You're gonna look at.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
Them side crazy, Take the care right now.

Speaker 9 (35:39):
And that was and that was her goal, and in
that true story, that was really the social worker's goal.
But there's also this this underlying aspect of like believe
black women. She really does want to be the best
mother she she can be, you know what I mean,
And that's why I love the metaphor. There's the physical
fight with the demons, but there's also Ebenie's real struggle
of trying to She don't even know that she needs

(36:02):
to heal from a used you know what I mean,
physically sexually. Her mother was on drugs. So now her
mother lives in the house with her and they're trying
to like single mom, raise these kids with your mom,
and you're faced with the seat of your trauma every
single day.

Speaker 14 (36:15):
She's a halfway yes, And so there's also this identity
you know, black man's period and always dressed and it's
just is in the culture, you know what I'm saying,
quote unquote.

Speaker 9 (36:30):
So it's like Ebone's trying to like be like, though
you my mom, you don't have to deal with the
same things that I necessarily have to deal.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Because you're a white woman like me.

Speaker 9 (36:40):
And that was one of the things in the beginning
we laughed at so I'll tell you there's one deleted line,
like we didn't end up using it. Like it's a
very very heavy scene in the movie, and Ebonie literally
says to Mama Alberta, that's Glenn's character. She was like,
what kind of white woman named their daughter Ebonie?

Speaker 1 (36:57):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 9 (36:59):
Yeah, I was like, you had to go for the
most blackest name you could think of. Like, so it's
just you. There's all those different clashes in there. The
kids are in the middle of it, you know. But
I love What I love about this movie is you
get to see a fully realized black women work through
these struggles and like there is a moment where you
get to cheer for her and you're very happy for her.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
All Right, Andrew Day is here.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
You know her as Billy Halliday in the United States
versus Billy Halliday, and now you know her as the
new star of Lee Daniel's Deliverance.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
We have more with her when we come back. It's
way up.

Speaker 7 (37:32):
It's way up with Angela.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
Let's go.

Speaker 6 (37:34):
You are a media maven, right, you never know what.

Speaker 5 (37:37):
Angre's gonna say.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
What's up as way up with Angela?

Speaker 3 (37:41):
Yee, I'm here and the multi talented, multi hyphen it
Andrew Day is here with me, and I remember when
you did Billy Holliday and you're talking about getting into
that role and I read about it and how you
were smoking cigarettes and.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
This one. Now I'm sitting out here a lot because
now I got a tattooed. These children. People were like, oh,
those your babies. I was like, they don't even exist.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
Those real children, and you for real guy.

Speaker 5 (38:06):
Yes, look I'm telling you, she really got tattooed.

Speaker 9 (38:09):
It was supposed to have faded by now I went
and I got it because I was like, there's no
way she does not have her baby's tattered on her somewhere.

Speaker 5 (38:16):
So I was like, let me just do a little
you know something.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
You were not playing. You were like, I'm.

Speaker 5 (38:19):
Coming into this and you can't, will Lee. You gotta
be you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (38:23):
You got this job for real.

Speaker 9 (38:24):
So what we didn't get we we we definitely were
like we mitigated, we mitigated. I was like, I had
never I had never smoked cigarettes, I never drank.

Speaker 5 (38:32):
I wasn't I didn't cut it.

Speaker 3 (38:33):
Singer smoking cigarettes like I know that, yeah, and drinking
hardly during your heart that was a lot.

Speaker 5 (38:38):
I was like, my liver was like, cannot wait till
this shooting schedule.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
And cigarettes are so addictive to Weren't you concerned that?

Speaker 9 (38:44):
Like I was, because I went from I was just
gonna do it on set I had committed to it,
and I was like, I'm just gonna do it because
the thing is with Billy, like you are hard pressed
to find a photo of her like on off a
candidate where she does not have a sigher in her hand.
And I didn't want to just be like here I'm
smoking cigarettes to write there. I need to know. I
got to fill it in my bad. I need to
know the unction of what like if we're sitting here

(39:05):
talking and I just grab a cigarette without even thinking
about it and I light up, and you know what
I mean, Like what is that function that makes me
do that?

Speaker 5 (39:11):
And I needed to have that feeling. But I ended
up smoking for like two years after that, which.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
I was like, oh, I see that's how hard habit
to kick its Its commitment is unparalleled, I have to say.

Speaker 9 (39:20):
And in my mind I think I justified it because
we finished filming, but then the next year we had
to do like pickup shoots, so it wasn't a character
where I'm like, Okay, I'll drop out and then when
we do the pickup shoots, I'll drop and I was like,
I gotta just stay hurt.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
I'm talking to and today's star of Lee Daniel's new movie,
The Deliverance. And you did get your voice back. Yeah, yeah,
I know there were some issues with the hamorrhaging.

Speaker 9 (39:40):
And yeah mostly though mostly I got it back. And
there's also a little bit where I'm just I'm a
little bit of a different singer, now you know what
I mean.

Speaker 5 (39:47):
And that's okay.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
Well, listen that Deliverance.

Speaker 3 (39:49):
So it is going to be available on Netflix August thirtieth, augusty,
but it is going to be limited release in theaters.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Yes, August sixteenth, Is that correct?

Speaker 5 (39:57):
Yes, that's correct.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
I'm not giving no spoilers, guys, but we definitely have
made a topic out of whether or not you've had
an interaction with any spirits.

Speaker 5 (40:04):
I love that.

Speaker 9 (40:04):
I'm glad you asked that question too. That's a really
you get some interesting thing. But my trap would be stupid.
When I was young, like, I had a recurring dream
and I had it when I was actually on the
set of the deliverance, and I haven't had it since
I was like in middle school. It's this big ass tomato,
like this giant tomato, you remember, they had teased and
I would be running and running and run away from
this big ass tomatoes and then I would get behind it,

(40:26):
and then he'd be start shooting his little angry baby
tomatoes at me.

Speaker 5 (40:29):
That was splat all around all. But I think there's
a movie about a giant horrible I.

Speaker 1 (40:33):
Take it to Kill a Tomatoes. That's it. A higher
film from nineteen seventy.

Speaker 9 (40:37):
And it literally was a dream that stuck with me
like my whole childhood.

Speaker 3 (40:41):
I was oozing tomatoes go on the rampage, splattering innocent victims,
and then there was.

Speaker 9 (40:45):
The big win and who's splattered? He's splattered right on
my grid.

Speaker 5 (40:50):
I don't know why I shouldn't have watched this movie,
And why would my mind grab on to such a
dumb one.

Speaker 1 (40:54):
This has something to do with your celibacy.

Speaker 5 (40:57):
Why's she coming from the yoks?

Speaker 1 (41:01):
It might be.

Speaker 5 (41:04):
The images. The images are crazy, right?

Speaker 3 (41:08):
All right, thank you so much, y'all. Make shall you
take out the deliverance? Make sure you pick up the
cassan well listen to the Cassandra like, it's no one
picks up albums anymore, right, right, exactly?

Speaker 9 (41:17):
Yes, and the tour too, right, Okay, so I might
as well say this now I can say it.

Speaker 5 (41:21):
No, right, So I had to postpone the tour. When
we booked it.

Speaker 9 (41:24):
We didn't know when the Deliverance came releasing or exhibiting forgiveness,
so I'm supposed to be in like three different cities
sometimes on certain days it was there was no break.
So I couldn't promote do press runs for two movies
and tour at the same time because I felt like
I'd be failing in both directions. So we just decided, like,
let me give my full self to the press run
of the Deliverance because it deserves it. Press run of

(41:46):
exhibiting forgiveness, it deserves it, and then.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
What you have to do?

Speaker 9 (41:50):
Yeah, exactly. So I am sorry to say all of
the refunds are there, you guys. I wanted to make
sure it wasn't messy. We will be making an announcement,
but yes, we did have to postpone it because hopefully they.

Speaker 1 (42:01):
Don't come and throw no tomatoes and.

Speaker 9 (42:02):
That will be y'all don't get no ideas, do not
no ideas.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
All right, Well, honestly this is amazing. Thank you so much.
