the show. But in the meantime, there's been a lot
of conversation about this complex list. Oh boy, and we're
going to talk about that, Shirley, because you know, beat
O love a list.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Everything that happens, he turns it into a list.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Georgia is on my mind today.

One of my top people is going to be joining

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Okay, the legend.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Yeah, she is a legend, and she's on Broadway, back
on Broadway. If you'll recall, she got her start on
The Wig and the Wiz on Broadway and now she's
back on Broadway in Haitestown, and so I'm excited for
her to be joining us today. And she's just amazing too.
I love me some Stephanie Mills.

Speaker 6 (01:11):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
And to this day. Her voice is just still on
point incomparable.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
One thing we agree on that.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
I love that all right.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Well, who do you want to shine a light on?
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty call us up.
Let's shine a light, let's bread some love on this Friday.
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty is a
way up.

Speaker 5 (01:28):
We're gonna light to fuck up. I'm shin, I'm shine.
Turn your lights on, y'all spreading love to those who
are doing greatness. Light on them, shine the light on it.
It's time to shine a light on them.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
It's way up.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
But Angela, Yeah, I'm here. Beat us here, It beat
us right, and let's shine a light. And today we
want to shine a light on Brent Fayaz and his
business partner Tie based in Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
I love those guys.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
The reason why.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
They have invested more than one hundred thousand dollars and
black women led STEM companies Wow under their Lost Kids label.
They have a fifty to fifty business partnership and they
reinvest the profits into various ventures. Their primary focus is
on black women let businesses, particularly in the STEM field.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
I love it and Brent Faias has talked about this
before and he really, you know, does what he does.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
And they called Brent FIUs toxic.

Speaker 7 (02:21):
How can you be toxic when you're donating hundreds of
thousands to STEMS research?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
And now I remember this back in twenty twenty when
they launched the Show You Off grant program, which gave
ten thousand dollar grants to black women entrepreneurs in the DC,
Maryland and Virginia area. And it's now in its fourth
cycle and so they are, like we said, just focused
on the STEM sector.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
So shout out to them.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
That's what's up.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Yeah, And I just love the fact that with his
music he has a I mean, everybody loves Brent faiaz
but women love him in particular too. But you're right,
he does get labeled toxic. I don't know why, and
he gets so frustrated he does, like you make toxic
music exactly.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
But he's an amazing artist.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
And the fact that he's been able to do this
and be independent and sign on the artists underneath him
who are just as dope, you know, shout out to
Burnfires and ty Basing. Now, who do you guys want
to spread some love to? Eight hundred two ninety two
fifty one fifty, Catherine, who do you want to shine
a light on?

Speaker 8 (03:13):
My man?

Speaker 9 (03:13):
His name is Eric Jackson.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Okay, he's great.

Speaker 9 (03:16):
He do he do whatever I ask him to do?

Speaker 5 (03:19):
His good apartment.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Wow, that's your man, and that's also your assistant.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
But look, yeah, you're right.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Every good partner is kind of like your assistant too.
Do you do whatever Eric Jackson asked you to do?

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Too? Yes?

Speaker 6 (03:34):
I do?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
See now that's love. He does whatever you ask him,
and you do whatever he asks you.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Yes, I do?

Speaker 2 (03:41):
All right, Well, thank you for calling. You sound in love,
in love just the way you say. Yes, I do.
I am.

Speaker 9 (03:46):
But he's better than the one the other relationships I've
been in.

Speaker 5 (03:50):
I know.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
That's right. See level up, baby, Thank you, Thank you
for calling.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
That was shine a light eight hundred two ninety two
fifty one fifty in case you couldn't get through. And
when we come back, we have your et beat Out. Yep,
you want to get right into it, might as well.
All right, well, we'll start it off with this complex
list of the fifty best Atlanta rappers.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Of all time, and beat Out got a lot to say.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
We definitely want to hear your thoughts too, so hit
us up on the Instagram way up with you or
on Twitter or I guess the kids call it x
now ya in the rooms.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
From industry Shade to all of gossips out send angelus
speeling that EyeT.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
All right?

Speaker 3 (04:28):
His way up?

Speaker 2 (04:29):
I'm here, beat out here, what up? And let's get
into this. Yet you came in here talking about this.
I know you're on fire right now?

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yes, all right?

Speaker 2 (04:39):
So Complex did the fifty best Atlanta rappers of all time.

Speaker 7 (04:43):
Rings My former employer brackets on Complex, and there was just.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
A lot of conversations. So let's talk about who made
this list. Yes, a little nonz ex's number fifty on
the list. Trouble was number forty seven, Okay, Rich the
kid number forty six. Little Scrappy made it at number
forty four, by the way, but let's move up further
on the list. CHILDI Scambino is number thirty three. What

(05:10):
do you think about that placement?

Speaker 1 (05:12):
I think that's I think that's decent. That's decent, I
guess all right.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
In addition to that, Jid's number twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Now we have a problem.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
He should have been up higher.

Speaker 7 (05:23):
Yeah, absolutely, I don't think there are twenty three rappers
better than Jid in Atlanta or in him place.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
He's number twenty seven.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Yeah, I agree that he should have definitely been up
higher on that list.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Shout out to Lotto. She's number twenty five on the list.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
I personally had thought she should be up a little
higher too, But you said she's new.

Speaker 7 (05:41):
Lotto's at twenty five and Jid's at twenty seven. Nah, Nah,
lottoes not better than Jed. I think that needs to
be swapped.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
You would put him at twenty five and over twenty seven.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
I would put Jid a lot higher. I think Jid
belongs maybe somewhere in the top twenty.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
I would have put both of them up higher. Okay,
they're the new they're kind of the newest one. Young
Nudies on the list too, he's newer.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah, young Nudy. I like Young Nudy.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, Young Nudi's on the list all right. Also on
the list, Gunna is number twenty and he's above Lil
Yachti's number twenty four.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
By the way, this is where it gets crazy. It's
such a hard thing.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
It's not you know. I try to stay in my
New York state of mind. But you know, things like
this won't allow me.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
To do it.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
You know, number one on the list is Andre three thousand.
Let's just jump to that because you really had a problem.

Speaker 7 (06:24):
Yeah, I've had a beef of one hundred three thousand
for years because it's like he's not a solo artist.
When you talk about Andred three thousand, you can't talk.
You cannot talk about big Boy. You be eve been
remiss not to mention him.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
Outcast is a group Big Boys number eight.

Speaker 7 (06:37):
That's ridiculous. Big Boy's output has been prolific since twenty
ten man with his own solo efforts. Big Boy to
me has been doing the most since Outcast. Slit Andre
three thousand. You might get a verse here, verse there,
and he delivers out. Let's be clear. Andre two thousand
is nice, but to have him at number one.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
See, I'm glad you're consistent because you were so mad
about Lauren Hill having one album plus the unplugged album
plus being in the fujis.

Speaker 10 (07:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (07:03):
People like a split big Boy and Andre like one
is better than the other.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
I think they're evenly yoped as an artist.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
I mean, I don't know about it.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
I don't know that you can say two people are
exactly even, there's always gonna be somebody, you know who.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
I think in certain instances, one artist might be superior
than the other.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Now it's future and then TI after that. Okay, all right,
so two is future.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Three, I would swap future for TI. You will put
the future.

Speaker 11 (07:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (07:30):
If I had a group outcast as like as an
entity as number one, I'll put our cast as number one?

Speaker 5 (07:35):
Right?

Speaker 1 (07:35):
But after that, I'm like, who would come after them?
And I think it might be T.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
I think checks off a lot of Probably a lot
of people might feel that way. But you know, Future definitely,
I think is continuing, yeah to put out music right now?

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Well, TI is too.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Yeah, absolutely?

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Okay. Also then Gucci Mane and g Z four and five.

Speaker 7 (07:56):
Absolutely, I think I would put GZ over Gucci, but
I'm not mad whatever. Yeah, we did see the verses.
I don't know who to go for each other, but
those are good picks.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Okay. Young Thug and Ludacris at six and seven.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Nah, you can't put Young Thug over Ludacris. Man, You
kidding me?

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Yeah, I think people don't be giving Ludacris to the
respect that he deserves.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
When it comes to being an artist, to being a
hip hop artist.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Yeah, Ludacris is definitely and maybe the top five for sure.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
But you know what I think, Ludacris venturing out and
doing other things and acting and doing it feels like
his focus after that, after what he's done, has been
more on that. Absolutely on acting in business and you
know and everything. All right, Then after that we have
Big Boy eight two Chains at nine, Little Baby at ten,
twenty one, Savage at eleven, and Playboycarti at twelve.

Speaker 7 (08:42):
I can't get jiggy with that. Playboy Cardi couldn't wrap
a gift. Have you ever heard Playboy Cartti's music?

Speaker 3 (08:47):
Of course I have.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
He wraps in like Batman's sound effects. He sucks.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
You think Playboy Cardi is absolutely? I wouldn't say that.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
You think he sucks?

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Am I alone yet? Okay?

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, I don't think he's h He's terrible, but I wouldn't.
I don't know if I would happen. But as high
as twelve, and then offset Killer Mike quav whoa, whoa.

Speaker 7 (09:04):
Whoa stop right there, Killer Mic at number fourteen. Killer
Mike definitely needs to be bumped up. He's incredible.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
That I would bump to the mike up.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
Michael was probably the best album of last year.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
All right, well, good, well, you guys can see this
full list. Jamaine Dupre made the list at number seventeen,
followed by Little John, then take Off, and like we said,
Gunner at number twenty.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
It gets murky, man.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
I'm just glad gun is on this list because you're
ally was acting like he wasn't going to exist anymore,
and now things have turned around. In a conversation, hard
at work, head down, keep it moving, all right, well
that is your Yet when we come back, we have
about last night. That's where we discussed what we did
last night. And you'll let us know. It's also MAINO
day today, so May day. He's getting ready for that.
Already talked to him this morning. He's he's already outside.

(09:43):
Its way up night.

Speaker 5 (09:46):
So about last night? Yes, he went down.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
All right, his way up.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
I'm here, beat outs here, well it was beat out,
that's right, that's right, beat on?

Speaker 3 (09:56):
What did you do last night?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
What do I do last night? I got to hear cut?
You didn't notice?

Speaker 3 (10:01):
Why do you get a haircut so frequently?

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Because I mean I have hair.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
Like how often does this happen. I like, once a week,
I want to you get a haircut?

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Is that a lot?

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Is that? Is that a lot? Yes?

Speaker 9 (10:11):
Really?

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Once a week is excessive.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Wow?

Speaker 7 (10:14):
You know I want to look nice, so I get
a haircut once a week. Shout out to the ball.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Of three sixty.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
That's your friend.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
That's your best Would you say that's your best that's
my best friend? Yes, your best friend is your barber.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
I got a bestie? Is that okay?

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Now I know he went away for a little while.
What did you have to do during did you you
have to switch? I know barbers are such a big
deal for you guys.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Oh yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 7 (10:34):
You can't switch a barber, right, so you had to No,
I went to him after I left here.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
No, I'm talking about when he was away. Oh, when
he was away. Yeah, that was hard. That was hard.
It was hard for him.

Speaker 5 (10:43):
It was.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
You free through sixty.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
I mean my haircut.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
It's like, yo, we're gonna have to get a conju
cool or something like.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
That, conjugal haircut. You know.

Speaker 2 (10:59):
They always say that the worst thing a woman can
do to a man is cheat on him with his barber.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Oh man, that's bad news.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Yea, yeah, because now you got to be like, man,
he's slept with my woman. But it's so interesting to me.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
How like dedicated you guys are.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
Yeah, man, no good ball but changing life.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
Okay, Well, anyway, last night, I'm getting ready for angela
ye day, so I had to dedicate the night to
like putting together. We haven't even announced the artist yet,
so we're about to start announcing artists who are going
to be performing. But you know, it's an all free
thing at the bark Lace.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yes, I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
It's gonna be really, really fun. I'm excited. I'll give
y'all a little spoiler. Someone who's going to be there.
Donelle Rawlings is going to be there. He was like,
I'm gonna be in town, and they actually reached down
and they were like, okay, we're putting his schedule together.
So you know, so Donelle is going to be there
with us, and a lot of my homegirls are coming
in from out of town and staying at my house.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
M don't do that.

Speaker 11 (11:56):
What.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
So it's gonna be fun. So I'm excited for it.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
But I know it's gonna be a lot because everybody's
gonna be here.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
So I one of don's gonna do new material.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
I didn't say he was performing.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
He's just gonna be here beat up to know donell
can't stay away from a mic. So we'll see what happens.
But anyway, when we come back, tell us a secret.
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty is a
number you get to stay anonymous. It's no judgment a
little bit. Yeah, you can't be as bad as men.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
No, but who are we to judge?

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Right?

Speaker 2 (12:24):
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty. Call us up,
tell us a secret. You'll be saying some wow, wow wow,
but we do our best to keep it neutral.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty. It's way up,
clean up.

Speaker 5 (12:37):
This is a judgment free zone. Tell us a secret, all.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Right, it's way up. I'm here, beat us here, well,
it's beat us up beat. It's gonna be hard, all right,
But I need you to reserve any type of judgment
for everybody who's calling to tell us a secret. Anonymous,
Leave all right, anonymous, call it what's your secret?

Speaker 11 (12:54):
So I've been with my baby mother for a couple
of years and we have a three year old. Okay,
you know, we took some time apart from each other,
and I'm not proud of it, and I ended up
getting her her little sister pregnant by mistake.

Speaker 7 (13:10):
We haven't told her sister whoa how many months is she?

Speaker 9 (13:14):
She is three months right now?

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Oh my gosh, how did it even happen in the
first place?

Speaker 11 (13:20):
I got a text from her talking about comeover because
she had to talk to me about something because we
were doing so remodeling in her mother's house. And one
thing led to another. We started drinking, hanging out.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
Did you keep on doing it? Or was it just
a one time? And then she got pregnant?

Speaker 11 (13:43):
We did it a couple of times after. But did
she just She just found.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Out last month and she sure is you?

Speaker 11 (13:50):
I wanted to get a test. I gotta find out.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
But she says me, who do you think she'd tell
your child? And are you said with your child's mother?

Speaker 11 (13:58):
We recently got that together.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
This is a tough one.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yeah, that is an extremely tough because she should be
so mad at her little sisterant for that, mad at you.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
That's gonna that That one hurts.

Speaker 11 (14:10):
Yeah, yeah, I feel bad, but it is like I
don't believe in abortions, and it is what it is
at this point. You know, if it's mine, you know
I'm gonna step up.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
It's a very messy situation.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
The kids are gonna be cousins, They're gonna be siblings
and cousins.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Explain that. All right, Well, thank you for calling.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
That's a really, really tough secret to have, and I
feel so bad for your your child's mother.

Speaker 9 (14:37):
But I'm gonna tell.

Speaker 11 (14:38):
I promise, I'm gonna tell.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Okay, all right, let us know how it goes.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
We sent us invitation to the shower.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
I'm going to tear the whole family apart, all right,
thank you for calling.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Hey, and not na miss Carlin. How are you?

Speaker 1 (14:52):
I'm good?

Speaker 5 (14:52):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (14:53):
I'm good? Think you want to tell me and beat
out a secret? Yeah?

Speaker 11 (14:56):
When I was in prison, I had a bunch of
puntels and two of them chatted my name on them.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
You got it going on?

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Er?

Speaker 2 (15:05):
How long you was locked up for five and a
half years? Did you end up with either one of
them when you came home?

Speaker 5 (15:11):
Uh?

Speaker 11 (15:11):
No, they're still in prison and we don't talk anymore.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
So you were in prison and you were talking to
them at other they were in another prison.

Speaker 9 (15:19):
Yeah, they were down in Florida and Massachusetts.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Now that you're released, have you went to go visit
those guys?

Speaker 9 (15:25):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (15:25):
No, you can't even do that. What'd you go to
jail for.

Speaker 9 (15:30):
I went to jail for a possession of mess?

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Okay, all right, well you know what, thanks for calling.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
These guys got their tattoos on them. Who knows who
else who's tattooed on you? That's the real question.

Speaker 9 (15:44):
Yeah, I got this guy chatted on me.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
I knew it.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Okay, all right, well, thank you for calling. No problem playin'.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
She would you ever get someone's name?

Speaker 3 (15:56):
I don't have no tattoos though, so it makes sense.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Do you have tattoos? You got a tattoo on your daughter?

Speaker 7 (16:01):
It's a cross. I was going through a phase in college.
He went religious.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
I went through a religious face in college. All right,
Well that was tell us a secret eight hundred and
two ninet two fifty one to fifty in case you
couldn't get through. And when we come back, we have
your yee team, and let's talk about somebody who was
on that complex list of top Atlanta rappers. Will tell

His way up, I'm here, beat outs here. Well it
was beat Happy Friday, Happy Friday. Now let's talk about this.
Tank and Stephen A. Smith on the Stephen A. Smith Show.
The two of them are going back and forth over
Chris Brown and Michael Jackson. Now, Tank feels like Chris
Brown is in fact better than Michael Jackson.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Here's what he said.

Speaker 10 (16:51):
Chris Brown is in fact better than Michael Jackson.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
What Tank, do you understand what you say? Man?

Speaker 10 (16:58):
If there was Magic Johnson and now there is Lebron James,
that is the ultimate evolution of a man who can
play all five positions. We talk about Chris Brown, We're
talking about the evolution of Michael Jackson.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Oh, come on, I take it, as Steven would say,
that's blasphemous.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
Now you but you said, I can see.

Speaker 7 (17:19):
I think it depends on what we're talking about. I
think Chris is a better dancer than Michael. You know,
Chris is doing all kinds of acrobats and gymnastics on stage,
but as an overall artist, I gotta give it to Mike.
I don't think Chris has a classic like an off
the Wall of thriller or even bad.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
To his name.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
The way I looked at it is says, first of
all the two different errors, I wouldn't even compare the
two of them. And I think Chris Brown wouldn't even
say I'm better than Michael Jackson because you are also
kind of like influenced absolutely by Michael Jackson. So it's
an honor to be in that conversation. And I think
we can see from Chris Brown sold out shows.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Yeah, Chris is doing his thing.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
He's doing his thing. I think he's super talented.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
I think it's just a losing situation to try to
compare anybody, to try to compare themselves to Michael Jackson.

Speaker 3 (18:03):
Why would anyone do that?

Speaker 1 (18:04):
You know, they chose to follow and.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
Star power wise Michael Jackson just even like you didn't
even see him anywhere, right, you know, he had the
Neverland Ranch. It was like all this mystique and you know,
nowadays there's not the same mystique as there used to be,
thanks to the access that people have to other people, But.

Speaker 7 (18:21):
As far as artistry goes, I got to give it
to Mike. He's was a great artist and songwriter.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
He also had Quincy Jones.

Speaker 2 (18:27):
He definitely don't not forget that he had Quincy Jones,
and so having teams like that and listen, never want
to take anything away from Chris Brown and what he has,
because I love some Chris Brown songs. You could put
on a Chris Brown best of playlist and drive for
hours favorite Chris.

Speaker 7 (18:42):
Favorite Michael Jackson album.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
You know what, I'm not going to say it was thriller.
I know people love thriller and that was like a classic.
But I'm gonna have to say off.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
The wall, I'm of a bad guy.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
I know you are, I know you are all right now.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Lotto has announced their first headlining tour and has also
revealed who her opening acts are going to be. By
the way, this tour is kicking off October twenty fifth
and Tampa and ending in Colorado on December seventh. I
would go see Lotto the contur I want to say
this about Lotto too, because I do like her album,
I like her music, I like her as a person.
I do feel like she's had great also, just from

(19:26):
being on the Jermaine dupri To Rap Show, I think
that she's had some really good as far as one
of my what's the word I'm thinking of, like the
like in Motown when they would give you artists, what
do you mean like like training?

Speaker 1 (19:41):
I'm trying to get training. Okay, I got you.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
I know what you're saying, like yeah, So I feel
like she's actually yeah development, that's the way I was
looking for. I don't know why I couldn't think of it,
but she's had some great artist development.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Yes, all right.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Wallet is also going on tour.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
He's announced his twenty twenty four Every Blue Moon Tour
that's going to be happening the release of his upcoming
eighth album, Celebrat and the fifteenth anniversary of his debut debut.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Album Time Goes By fast Man. Yep.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
He's kicking that off in Fort Lauderdale on September nineteenth,
and he's ending as of now November seventh and Birmingham, Alabama.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
I'll check that out. All right.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Well, that is your yet when we come back, we
have under the radar. These are the stories that are
not necessarily in the headlines. They are flying under the radar.
But yeah, definitely need to know about them.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
It's way up the news that relates to you. These
stories are flying under the radar.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
All right, it's way up.

Speaker 2 (20:28):
I'm here beat outs here well, and let's get into
these under the radar stories. Disney, they've been having some
issues because attendance is underperforming expectations. People are a lot
more price conscious, and from what I'm hearing, because I've
never been to Disney, it's really expensive. So they're going
to try to now have lower price ticket options and
value season deals at resort hotels so families can come

(20:51):
and visit even if they're on a tight budget. So
they want to try to navigate through these bumps in
the road.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
I went to Disney World, so I'm my daughter to
Disney World for a birthday a few years ago.

Speaker 3 (20:59):
You just showed me picture. She looks like she had
such a good time.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
I needed to go fund when we came back home.
Jesus is mad expressive.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
That's what I hear, And especially if you want to
like cut the line and stuff like that. A VIP experience.
But they said during the pandemic people had extra money.
Now Melms, all right, now I want to get into
a really sad story and offer our condolences to Victoria
Lee's family. Now, the family made a mental health call
to nine one one, and they had done that in
the past, and the nine one one responder had always

(21:27):
been understanding because she has a very fragile mental state.
She was only twenty five years old and she was
fatally shot by a police officer in her apartment last month.
Now they are going to review body camera video from
the morning that she was killed. She was fatally shot
in the chest on July twenty eighth, a police officer
was responding to a mental health crisis call at her home.
This was in Fort Lee and the brother and the

(21:50):
family called and they said they requested an ambulance to
take her to the hospital.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
They also gave details about.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Her mental state out of concern they might escalate the
situation unnecessarily. She was armed, she had a plastic water
jug when she was shot. And I do want to
say that she also did work at engine room, which
is where we record lip service. So she's definitely part
of the family. So we want to make sure that
we bring more attention to this. She was diagnosed with

(22:16):
bipolar disorder in twenty seventeen, and it led to her
to withdraw early from college. They've been managing her condition
with various activities like work, travel, and music, and you know,
unfortunately this is what happened. But they are going to
be reviewing that body camera footage and so really sad,
sad situation, and you know, unfortunately this happened. So I

(22:39):
do hope that the family does get some answers, some justice.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Man, those body cameras are definitely helpful joy like this.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
So yes, our condolence is to Victoria Lee's family and friends.
All right, now, you know we have the way up
mixed at the top of the hour. Plus Stephanie Mills
is going to be joining us today. She's starring in
Hadestown on Broadway.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
We gotta go.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
I'm already making plans to do like a night out
to go see her. All right, so it's way up.
She's like the talk like they angel Jean, like they
angel jee.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Man, She's spilling it all. This is yet way.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
All right, his way up. I'm here and feed.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Out right here with me.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
I'm barely here.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
All right, let's get into some ut.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Jordan Chiles has spoken out about the unjust decision to
strip her bronze metal. She said, I'm overwhelmed by the
love I have received over the past few days. I'm
also incredibly grateful to my family, teammates, coaches, fans. She
goes on to say the appeal was unsuccessful and I
have no words. This decision feels unjust and comes as
a significant blow, not just to me, but to everyone

(23:40):
who has champion my journey. To add to the heartbreak,
the unprompted racially driven attacks on social media are wrong
and extremely hurtful. I poured my heart and soul into
this sport, and I am so proud to represent my
culture and my country.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
I thought there was talks of like having joint custody
of the metal.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Yeah, I saw those conversations as well. I mean, the
he was denied, but officials are going to try to
find a way to let her keep her medal. It's
her first in an individual Olympic competition, and so I
know it was meaningful for her. And you know, I
did an interview and I'm hoping that we'll be able
to put it out because it was so amazing, so positive.

(24:17):
But we did address a lot of the racist comments
that I've seen people leaving after that appeal.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
After she did do the.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Inquiry, the coach did the inquiry and then she was
awarded the medal. They've been attacking her, they've been attacking
all of that. It was the first ever time you
saw three black women, you know, with the gold, the silver,
and the bronze at once in the Olympics and the gymnastics.
So all right, august Alcina was on Council Culture and
they were asking him about his love for another man

(24:46):
and his perspective on love.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
And here's what he said.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
You talked about your love for another man. What is
opening your heart done for you?

Speaker 7 (24:54):
It's like when people want you to define yourself as
whether you gaze straight by sexual all as you was
just talking about.

Speaker 1 (25:01):
Love is like.

Speaker 7 (25:02):
Much more complex than that for me because love is
a language.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
I'm fluent in love when it speaks to me.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Wow, yes, like being fluid.

Speaker 2 (25:14):
I do want to say. Aside from all of that,
his face products are amazing. He has a skincare line,
so I've been using the and seeing a product. It's
a it's like a powder exfoliator. I highly recommend it. It
makes my face very smooth and it's so clean. I
could feel it like squeaky clean. Aside from all of
the love.

Speaker 7 (25:34):
It wasn't a few weeks a few weeks ago though,
that he played for the Western Conference. I didn't know
that what algus Alsina plays for the Western the other side,
other team.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
All right, anyway, Yes, you were definitely alone, but I know,
and it's kind of your job to know what's going on.

Speaker 1 (25:53):
All right.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Sure has postponed an additional set of shows due to
a neck injury, and he was hoping that with physical
therapy and medical torment, he would be able to overcome
the injury and be ready for Opening night, but unfortunately
has not healed, so he's rescheduled a few shows. I
want to say, yesterday I had Fred who owned fred
M who owns Media takeout up here, and he was

(26:15):
given us some tea about Usher and here's what he said.

Speaker 8 (26:17):
So I spoke a couple of people and they're a
little bit worried about the relationship or the impact that
ushers what new wife is having on him. Usher in
the past would have kind of pushed through this and
kind of performed, but it was Jen who convinced him
that he needed to take a little bit of time
for himself and his family and to not perform. And

(26:40):
so there's a growing rift between Usher's kind of management
team and Jen and I think this is something that
I think we're going to see play out over the
next couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
And then this story came out today.

Speaker 5 (26:51):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
Interesting. Oh she was like the hardest working man of shows.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
I will say, I'm not against if your wife is
telling you take a break, I'm kind of not again,
I don't think that's a negative thing. But all right,
well that is your yet when we come back, it's a.

Speaker 3 (27:04):
New music Friday.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
Yes, we talk about it. I know you love this
beat out. You're gonna need security, whether it's relationship for
career advice.

Speaker 5 (27:13):
Angela's dropping facts.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
This is as what's up its way up at Angela. Yee,
I'm here, my guy beat out his here. You don't
give bad advice, be dot.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
I don't think I do.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
But you're a very traditional person.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Conservative traditional But.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Anyway, eight hundred nine fifty one fifty ask yee, it's
happening right now. If you have any questions, you can
call us up. Hey, Rico, what's your question?

Speaker 9 (27:37):
Okay, my girlfriend of five years she just broke up
with me because she found out that my mom is
friends with my ex. I want to get back with her,
But when you found out, you call it my mom.
Don't be whoa violation?

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Why would she talk to your mom like that?

Speaker 6 (27:56):
That?

Speaker 3 (27:56):
Now that's crazy.

Speaker 9 (27:58):
That the thing I don't know because, like I said,
we've been together five years, we got a three year
old times together. You know, this was a woman I
was playing on Marion. But it's like when she gets mad,
she just goes straight to eighteen double hockey stick. You
know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Yeah, you know, And that feels like she got to
work on that. You can't do stuff like that when
you get mad and y'all have a kid together, like
you can't you know the example that she's setting for that.

Speaker 3 (28:23):
I get it.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
She's mad because you kept something from her, But now
she turned a situation where she where you would have
been in the wrong, and so now she in.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
The wrong too.

Speaker 9 (28:31):
And I want her to apologize, but I want her
to apologize on her own. I don't want to have
to require her to apologize. You feel me?

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Does she thinks she's wrong?

Speaker 9 (28:39):
I don't think so. I mean, because there's situations before
where she said something about the way things to my
mom and like he apologized, But it's because I asked
her too.

Speaker 1 (28:50):
Do y'all break up all the time?

Speaker 3 (28:52):
Like that? Does she do that? Like frequently?

Speaker 9 (28:54):
Not frequently, but over the five years it happened six
seven times?

Speaker 3 (28:58):
Oh my gosh, a lot.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
All right, Well, it feels like a I don't think
this is like the end of your relationship. I feel
like she's just mad. But she's got to learn how
to control it. Because if you are with somebody and
you feel like I can't tell them this because they're
going to get so mad, I don't know what they're
going to say and how they're going to react, and
they could disrespect my mother as well.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
That's not good. And you need to.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
Second think that because you know, I can't see this
ever ending in a positive way unless she's willing to
work on herself. I feel like maybe she needs an
outside person. You guys still have a kid together, so
you'll still be co parenting together. So maybe work on
that relationship before you jump back in and be like, oh,

(29:40):
let's be together, Because some way, somehow she needs to
get some help, and so maybe it's like, let's go
to family therapy or a couple for that, just because
I know, regardless of if we're together or not, we
need to deal with each other and be in each
other's lives. And then maybe somebody else can help her
learn how to cope with that, because this is something

(30:00):
that you need to address, but not while she's mad,
but at a time when you guys are calm, so
she can understand why this is not something that's effective
in a relationship.

Speaker 9 (30:10):
All right, I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (30:12):
All right, Well, good luck. It seems like you're a
good guy, and I'm sorry that this happened.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
All right, thank you, all right, thank you for calling.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
That's ask ye eight hundred two ninety two fifty one
fifty if you couldn't get through. And when we come back,
I'm so excited about this. Stephanie Mills is joining us.
She is starring in Hadestown Armborough Way. Such a huge deal.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
She started off arm.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Bro Way in The Whiz almost fifty years ago. It's
going to be fifty years wow, since she played young Dorothy.
And by the way, I want to say, she still
looks amazing. All right, Well, Stephanie Mills is up next.

Speaker 5 (30:45):
This way up this is way up with Angela ye
let's go. You are a media maven, right, you never
know what Angel's gonna say.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Its way up with Angela, yee.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
And you see I'm happy and smiling because Stephanie Mills
is here. Brooklyn's Let's feel this bedstide, do or Die.
And you know what, I'm so excited that you are
back home. Like I said when I saw you, welcome home,
and welcome home, it's not just welcome back to New York,
but welcome back to Broadway.

Speaker 6 (31:11):
No. I mean it'd be fifty years next year that
I haven't been on Broadway and to come back and
do Haitiestown and in a show that's won eight Tony's.
You know, the Wiz won seven. So it's nice to
be back in a Tony Award winning show. And playing
Miss Hermes is such a delicious role.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Now, I do notice that with this player, as you
were getting ready, you have to be.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
On stage the entire time.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
The entire time.

Speaker 6 (31:40):
Once I hit that stage, I don't leave until intermission
and the second act too.

Speaker 12 (31:44):
Once I come on stage, I'm there because I'm narrating
the whole play.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
And it's an opera.

Speaker 6 (31:50):
I never did an opera before, and that's what really
attracted me to it because it was so different.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
That's interesting, you say, because when you look at your
social media, you are definitely very outsp yes, very pro
black yes and proudly so.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
And Broadway definitely in the past has not been that,
you know, the.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
Great White Way.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Great White Way is what they would call it when
you were starring in The Whiz.

Speaker 7 (32:13):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
So do you feel like now that you're back here
and back on Broadway and I'm sure you've seen a
few different plays during that time, you feel like things
have changed much?

Speaker 6 (32:24):
Not much has changed really, you know, but my cast
is wonderful. And why said much hasn't changes because Hinton
battle passed away.

Speaker 12 (32:33):
He's won three Tonys.

Speaker 6 (32:34):
They had to go and fight for him to have
the lights dimmed. But you know, I don't concentrate on that.
I concentrate on what I want to do and how
I'm going to do it. I respect them and they
have to respect me.

Speaker 2 (32:47):
Right now, I am talking to Stephanie Mills the Legend,
and I think there's no way that people cannot sometimes
forget a line or.

Speaker 12 (32:55):
Hey, I do have a ride.

Speaker 3 (32:58):
It is impossible.

Speaker 12 (32:59):
I have so many lines to remember.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
But sometimes I'm like, and then they'll just go to
the next scene and they'll say.

Speaker 12 (33:06):
She'll find a way back, and.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
I do, and people can't tell. Maybe you can tell.
I don't stop in the audience, so they don't. Yeah,
so what is something that would be on your vision
board now? Because it feels like you've done so much,
You've been with the legends, you know, but people also
don't know the whole Stephanie Miils story.

Speaker 3 (33:25):
I don't know that we ever will.

Speaker 6 (33:26):
I don't think people will ever know. I think some
things I will go to my grave. I do plan
on writing a book, but I plan on writing a
book on how to survive in the business.

Speaker 12 (33:36):
And certain things that you shouldn't do that I've learned
over the years that I would love to leave.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
For other people, Like, give me an example of something
you shouldn't do to survive in the business. I don't
think you should do anything and everything that people want
you to do. How old were you when you learned
that lesson?

Speaker 6 (33:53):
But I was like forty, because you got to remember,
I have been in the business since I was ten eleven.
I was always told I was going to be blacklisted,
and I was going to be this, and I was
not going to do this, or I'd be like.

Speaker 12 (34:04):
Okay, whatever, but I always kept going.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
Stephanie Mills is here. She is back on Broadway and
Haiti Town. She has new music, she's doing all the things.
We got more with her when we come back. It's
way up with Angela Yee about to do this.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
One is the.

Speaker 5 (34:19):
Famous women in radio audio. Men, we're talking about Angela Ye.
You're way up with Angela Yee. Please believe that.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (34:25):
It's way up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
I'm here and I am joined by somebody who I
still get nervous talking to her because I'm such a
fan Stephanie Mills. And I love when you post some
of your throwbacks of yourself on that stage back then,
to see.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
You as like a young young girl.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Yeah, and you know what, you look exactly the same. No,
I don't you do your face. You don't look like
you don't mess with your face or anything.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
You know.

Speaker 12 (34:47):
I haven't.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
I don't have no book.

Speaker 12 (34:49):
The only thing I got a.

Speaker 6 (34:50):
Long long time ago was my nose, okay, but other
than that, No, I don't know how you maintain this.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
I mean it's amazing.

Speaker 6 (34:56):
I sleep a lot and I stay away from stressful situation.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
You're like, that's why I'm not dating anybody right now?
You want to do this, Madly mondays, I don't know.

Speaker 12 (35:06):
I love you, love my Madly mondays.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
Look at girls.

Speaker 12 (35:11):
I don't know any of those men.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
So how do you recruit them? How do you pick them?

Speaker 6 (35:16):
Well, I'll pick some pictures and then I'll send it
to the person that does my mind social media, and
then we'll pick it together.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
You know, because if you get in a relationship, that's over.
I don't know if you can you still do man, we'll.

Speaker 12 (35:27):
Still do what I want to do. I don't think
of you.

Speaker 6 (35:30):
If you're good in a relationship, you should change yourself.
Of course, you want to be.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
Respectful, right But I don't know any some guy and
he was doing like you know, women crush Wednesdays.

Speaker 12 (35:40):
It would bother me, No, okay, it would it bother you.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
It depends.

Speaker 1 (35:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (35:47):
If you like somebody and you were dating them and
they were doing that, and then all of a sudden
YO got into a relationship, why would you want to
stop their creativity of what they were doing.

Speaker 12 (35:57):
I don't believe in trying to change somebody.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Right now, I'm talking to Stephanie Mills, the legend.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
