the show when it comes to spreading positivity and shining
a light. So I just want to shine a light
on you for that because you are the director of
multi platform content at Black Enterprise and you also are
the founder of hill Rise Media.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Yes, yes, thank you so much for having me Angela.

Thank you all Right, Well, good because we got a
lot to talk about. Yeah, there's a lot going on
and this is when it comes to yet. But also
I'm glad that you're your very multi dimensional and what
you can discuss. So we're also praying for Jamaica and
we'll see what's going on with Hurricane Melissa. But let's
get it started. Let's shine a light, let's bread some
love and some positivity. Eight hundred nine fifty one fifty
(01:15):

shine a light on?
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Its way up, shine, turn your lights on, y'all, lights

here with my special guest host. Oh, I don't know
what that noise is. That might be me. Sorry, that's
the wind. Selina Hill from Black Enterprise and founder of
hill Rise Media. And I know you want to shine
a light today.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Yes, yes, yeah, So keeping all the victims, not just
the victims of anybody in Jamaica right now in thoughts
and in prayers.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
We know that Hurricane Melissa has is basically just doing
devastation on the entire island. Everyone is getting hit. So
I'm just keeping them up today.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
One hundred and eighty mile per hour Category five hurricane
one of the strongest hurricanes in history. By the way,
they're also saying that this is becoming more frequent as
the climate wings, so that's something to pay attention to.
It's not just by chance. And so far Hurricane Melissa
is responsible for seven depths, three in Jamaica, three in Haiti,
and one of the Dominican Republic. And they're talking about
(02:25):
this is going to be devastating for the infrastructure in Jamaica.
So just prayers out to everybody who has family there,
everyone who is there. I'm looking online at people. I
see they have like cot setup that used to be
loungers outside by hotels and shelters for people to try
to make sure that they're okay. But it's now pushing ashore.
We're watching this in real time, so this is the
(02:47):
beginning of the landfall process right now. The most extreme
and devastating wings again are up to one hundred and
eighty miles per hour.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Right, Like you said, it is one of the strongest
storms in history, and this is something else going to
be thanks they're gonna have to recover from for weeks
on end.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
Like it's not just getting through the storm.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Yeah, all right, well, Mina, who do you want to
shine a light on to the Okay? Tell us about
the Anderson family.
Speaker 3 (03:13):

Speaker 1 (03:23):
So what does the company do?
Speaker 7 (03:25):
We are paint interior and it serious.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Oh okay, I like that. That's something that people need regardless,
that's something AI can't take over.
Speaker 6 (03:34):
Yeah, and I just want to give a special set
up to my husband.
Speaker 1 (03:36):

Speaker 6 (03:48):
Thank you b a great day.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
You two that would shining light eight hundred and two
ninety two fifty one fifty. If you couldn't get through,
you could leave a message in China. Light that way.
And when we come back, me and Selina Hill will
have your yee and we'll be talking about Michael Blason
and his ex fiance. That's an ex fiance now, RADI
will tell you what happened and how the two of
them have publicly aired it out. Its way up, they
(04:13):
say in the rooms from industry shade to all the
gossip out angels spelling that, Yeah, it's way up at
Angela Yee starring Selina Hill Today, director of multi platform Content,
a black enterprise and founder of hill Rise Media. And
let's get into some yete. I know you were following
Michael Blackson yesterday.
Speaker 5 (04:33):
Yep, I think we all were that mess.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yes, Well, apparently he has two young boys and they
were born just two months apart, June seventeenth and then
August sixth. But the problem is he's engaged or was
engaged to ride it and very publicly engaged by the
way he proposed while I was on the Breakfast Club.
Wow yeah, on the show. That's actually how he got engaged.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
What year was that?
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Was that? Twenty twenty one?
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Oh oh, so they've been engaged for a long time.
They just never got married. That's a little reugh fly
right there too.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Something I don't know that long engagement right, yeah, Okay,
Well he said good day to all my family, friends
and fans. The last few months, God has blessed me,
but in blessing me came a lot of pain. Two
months after Rada gave birth to little Mikey, a female
friend I've known for over five years also gave birth
to my son, King Kwai kublacksin.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
My friend that part, like you were saying, Angela, like
you said, people already.
Speaker 5 (05:27):
Think men and women can't be friends.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Yes, the Senate the alarm right.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
It sort of proves the point that men and women
can't just be friends.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
And then the worst part of this is that he said,
my apologies to Rada, and I hope she forgives me
for the pain I brought to her. I'm going to
be the best loving father in the world to avoid
turning into Nick Cannon or Elon Musk. I'm only dating
women that ran out of period or had a hysterectomy. See.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
I know he's being funny.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
I hope he meant that's time to be funny. But
why is he making a joke out of his infidelity?
I mean, I know they weren't married, but still, like,
why are.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
You trying to make it?
Speaker 1 (06:00):
She responded and said I don't normally respond, but let's
just agree this was the most pathetic post or apology ever.
I'm walking in peace, goid it by God's grace. My
energy belongs to my four month old son, not to negativity.
People always tell me they are embarrassed for me, or
it's getting embarrassing at this point. But for me, when
love runs that deep, you stop seeing the man and
start seeing the boy who just wanted to be loved,
(06:20):
and that's what breaks you. I didn't just love. I
understood the pain, the innocence, the child in him. And
she took full accountability, she said, for staying in the
circus too long.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yeah, and that's what you were saying that a lot
of folks were coming at her because you knew what
he was doing, Like this is not a surprise, Like
you know he was cheating. You know, he had quote
unquote female friends and now one of them ended up pregnant.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
So it's like, yeah, cause I had a lot of
empathy for her. But then yesterday while we were filming
lip Service, they were like, I mean she was in
like an open relationship where he was doing what he wanted,
and so so she did take accountability for sometimes we
do understand too much, and you know.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
Second excuses.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
I mean, I don't know, but if you're going to
be in an open relationship and you know he's with
other women, so she's just mad that he had a baby.
Was that the agreement, like, you can go out and
do you just don't have any kids on me.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
I don't know, but I feel like we're gonna see
and hear more at some point because he's so public
about things and I'm sure it's hard to not respect me.
Speaker 3 (07:15):
He's making jokes about it, So maybe he'll get a
stand up routine.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
I'm sure he fell this and DDD and Halle Bailey
in the meantime, good news for them. They have dropped
domestic violence restanding orders and they have reached a custody plan,
and so Halo, who's now one year old, is going
to be able to see both of his parents. They
have a temporary arrangement that gives him custody on Wednesdays
and certain weekends, and then there's another schedule that's going
(07:40):
to implement sixty days later. That's a big deal, it
is for them.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
I'm happy for Halo.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
That baby deserves obviously a mother and a father that's
very present in their life. I'm happy that they were
able to reconcile and come to some mature agreement. Regardless
of their their relationship, relationship status.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
It's about a cool parent, It's about Haye. But when
we come back, we have about last night where we
discussed what we did last night. I can't wait to
hear what you had going on. I was filming lip service.
I'll give you some insight. Its way up.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
So about last night, Yes, I went down.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Yeah, it's way yup. But Angela, yea. I'm here with
my guest host for the day, Selena Hill, founder of
hill Rise Media. What did you do last night?
Speaker 5 (08:24):
Girl?
Speaker 3 (08:25):
I was in a house following the news of the storm,
following the news of the election. You know, early voting
has started here in New York City. I was like,
we're on, were taking it.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
This is a win for us.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
So, oh my god, let me tell you something. This
has been one of the craziest elections that we have seen, yes,
in a long time. Oh yeah, but yes, early voting
did start here. So and I know a lot of
people are having elections all around the nation. So just
important to make sure that you are involved. I always
say that, like, make sure you go out and vote
even and I want to say this too. This was
(08:57):
something that I read, this book Run for something that
people we should encourage people who we know to run
for office too, who we think would be amazing, who
maybe never even thought about it, or even yourself.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
You know, girl, I'm thinking about it. Are you really
you planted a little seed? Remember at the Pink Galo
last week? You talked about that when you did your
acceptance speech, and I was like.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Yeah, maybe I should, Yeah, you should run for an office.
Like do you know how much people would support you?
You've as somebody who's you know, educated, knowledgeable, But also
I think we need people who are human beings who care,
that are.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Interconnected and that can relate to what's actually going on.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Because so many politicians that we see, we feel like,
what are they like? Do they even have any idea?
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Right?
Speaker 3 (09:37):
A lot of them are like born into well go
to the best schools, and they aren't really they don't
really know what's going on on the ground.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Or care right or care right. They just care about
making some money and power. All right, Well that's about
last night. I was doing lift service. I was working.
But one thing I want to talk about Justin Bieber.
You know, he made his debut on Twitch earlier this month,
which was interesting because I feel like he's been pretty
low key, yep, after having a baby, and he's you
(10:04):
could tell he's been through a lot. But recently he
was talking about adultery and where he draws the line,
here's what he said, if.
Speaker 8 (10:12):
You even think of a woman with LUSS, it's the
same thing as actually doing it, committing an adulty or whatever. Like,
it's the same thing. So it's like, it's like, if
it even just crosses your mind for one second.
Speaker 5 (10:25):
Is that true?
Speaker 1 (10:26):
Because I never looked at it like that. I figure
like people have thoughts all the time, they just don't
act on them, right, But is thinking about doing something
like committing adultery the same as committing adultery?
Speaker 3 (10:39):
So according to the Bible, it is the word. Guy says, like,
if you know, luss starts in your heart. However, I
think that justin Bieber, the way he's applying it, it
kind of can sound a little extreme. But if he's
somebody who, let's say he gets tempted all the time,
maybe he's like, I need to start with controlling my
thoughts in my mind because thempatience is there, that's a door,
(11:03):
and right, if I'm not thinking about my wife or
whatever it is, I can fall into temptation.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Well, we want to hear from you. Eight hundred two
ninety two fifty one fifty Call us up. Do you
think that thinking about adultery is the same as committing it?
Can you even control your thoughts and not have them?
Let us know what you think. Eight hundred two nine
two fifty one fifty call us up.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
Babit, way up with Angela yee? Come right more now,
all right.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
His way up at Angela yee. And I'm here with
my guest host, Selena Hill. Thank you for joining me today,
of course, and we are talking about lustful thoughts. Is
that the same thing as committing adultery? Here's what Jessin
Bieber had to say on his twitch.
Speaker 8 (11:41):
If you even think of a woman with luss, it's
the same thing as actually doing it, committing adult or whatever.
Like it's the same thing. So it's like it's like
if it even just crosses your mind for one second.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Ah, I can't tell. Do you agree with this, Selena
or do you think it's not true? I agree?
Speaker 5 (12:00):
I agree with him.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
I think that like I understand the extremity of it,
like for certain first hearing it, because yes, committing an
act adultery and thinking about something.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Yes, there are two very different things.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
But I think that for him and for many of us,
just thinking about something, dwelling on it too long.
Speaker 5 (12:17):
Can lead to a certain.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
It does.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Like anything you think about, anything you visualize, doesn't it
come to past?
Speaker 1 (12:25):
No? Not if I did, I anything I wanted and
I would get it. Okay, say it, But I think
that if you're obsessively thinking something. But if you have
a fleeting less for thought, I don't think that's a
big deal.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
Don't like session you can see somebody, I can see
something like that person is fine.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
I like how they look. I'm attracted to them, but
I'm not go.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Okay, I'm not going to dwell on it. Lemar, Do
you think less for thoughts are the same as adultery?
Speaker 9 (12:53):
I think it is the reason why I say that
is because I believe that you can control your thoughts.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
There was a time in my life why.
Speaker 9 (12:59):
I gave myself Christ right, and you know, those thoughts
weren't even in me to even think of those things.
But granted I had the power of Christ with me,
but you know it.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Just it was oblivious.
Speaker 9 (13:11):
I didn't care about any of that.
Speaker 2 (13:12):
But then when I came back to.
Speaker 9 (13:13):
The world, those thoughts came back.
Speaker 10 (13:15):
Then you know, it is what it is, but you
can't control it.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
I believe it can't be controlled.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Okay, so what does that means if you think it?
You think that means you cheated.
Speaker 10 (13:23):
Yes, definitely cheated.
Speaker 9 (13:24):
Because most most of the time, the first steps of
actually doing.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Something is thinking about it.
Speaker 9 (13:28):
All right, they say the first steps of recovery is
knowing that you have a problem, right, So the first
steps of thinking about it, and I'm pretty sure the
temptation would grow stronger if the thoughts.
Speaker 10 (13:40):
Are in your mind.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
You know.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
I kind of agree with Lamar. I think that just
being cognizant of what you're thinking about can lead to
what you say, how you act, your behavior and patterns.
So like, So some people might be like, oh, well,
that's extreme, Like, you know, thinking about it and doing
it are two different things. Yes, I understand that, But
I think for some people who may say, like, oh, well,
I know me, I know that, like I get tempted
(14:02):
in that area. I need to start with controlling my
mind so that I don't slip into a slippery slope.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yeah, I was just thinking about it. If I would
think my man cheated if he had a thought. You
know what I'm saying, You wouldn't be mad if your FA.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Was thinking about some other woman while y'all together.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
You want to hear, How would I know, you know
what I'm saying, unless he admitted, Yeah, how would I
even know?
Speaker 1 (14:24):
If not? If he tells me, that's another level because
that means he felt compelled to tell me for some reason.
That's but I kind of feel like sometimes like I
thought might pop in someone's head and then they're just like, oh,
why did I you know.
Speaker 5 (14:35):
Right, because you can look at somewhere but old that person?
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Fine, right, But am I gonna sit there and follow
her Instagram and you know, start obsessing over them liking
their stuff like I don't know.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Well, thank you for calling yep, Binka, Well, what do
you think is thinking about committing adulty the same as
doing it?
Speaker 7 (14:53):
You know that it?
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Listen, some people believe this, I promise you, but I.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
Get that right Like back in biblical time, they didn't
have as much exposure to thea as we have. We
have social media. We have you know, artists that walk
around and promote sexuality. Women are in powered. There's so
many things. So if you have eyes, you're looking at
the next person, you're saying this person is beautiful.
Speaker 9 (15:20):
I think that's.
Speaker 7 (15:21):
Lustful or wrong. If you have self control, you control it.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Well, thank you for calling. Oh all right, well you
guys can still call up and leave a message for
last word eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one
fifty and Selena Hill is here guest hosting. We got
yet when we come back. I know you watch the verses.
Speaker 5 (15:38):
Yes, I did, well.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Turkys responding to bird Man calling him out for not
being there during the verses, and we'll tell you what
he had to say. He feels like it's like a compliment.
I guess okay, all right, it's way up.
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Be angelus billing at yet, come and get the tea.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Yes, get the tea. It's me and Selena Hill. It's
way up. Let's get into some ut so so Turk
versus Birdman. Now, I know you watch the verses. What
do you think? All right?
Speaker 3 (16:04):
First, all shout out to me an ex she but
I said, like my girls, she represented juvenile represented and
of course we had the controversy, so we got to
talk about that too.
Speaker 8 (16:14):
Well.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
One of the controversial things that happened was Turk was
not there. Birdman had something to say about him not
being there.
Speaker 11 (16:22):
I asted this young, I met Fiji, I met Wayne,
I met Julie, I met Turk.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Shout out to Turk, and look, you ain't here for you.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
We're gonna put you when we want you.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Yeah, all right. That felt like an insult.
Speaker 5 (16:37):
It really different like an insult. But then Turk came.
I know he was saying, like, that's just how they talk.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Well, we had that. He was on with young Jack.
Here's what he said.
Speaker 10 (16:46):
I don't go Wayne and invited and now on state
where I'm not welcome.
Speaker 11 (16:50):
Bird Man got love for me.
Speaker 10 (16:51):
Man, it's just a strange love.
Speaker 7 (16:53):
People don't understand our language.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
I was slanguished.
Speaker 11 (16:56):
You know a lot of people probably took that as
a disch but you know, I didn't take it as
no diss because that's how we talked.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
And you know he did, by the way, host of
Versus watch party at Houston Shades of Blue, and he
also performed after right, he was watching it, right.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
He was watching it, he was participating. There was love there.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
I mean, I think it was just disappointing for the
fans that Turk wasn't.
Speaker 5 (17:18):
There, Wayne wasn't there, Mystical wasn't there.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
And Wayne performed in Vegas, right, he had a party
in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Now that you're also made some comments about it, like
you know, it's nothing without me there, and like of
course not and c Murder wasn't there as well.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
I mean that was in his choice.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
Right, But I mean, if you think about it, it
could have been a little bit more. But I think
for the people who were there, like Snoop popped out,
Juve now held it down the whole time. They were
saying that he was carrying the whole cash money on
his back and his little backsack and his little book bag.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Yeah, he did not put that backpack down. Well, Turk
did say that it was unfortunate that the people who
did miss out with the fans. Here's what he said, live.
Speaker 11 (18:00):
I'm gonna get my bag whenever they call it for
me to go get it. I can't control with nobody
else got going on, So I don't trip about that.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
You feel me, you ain't gonna see me going, oh man,
I ain't this. I ain't nah.
Speaker 11 (18:12):
But you got the fans mad because the fans not
get what they're supposed to have.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Well, that's a fact, you know. I enjoyed watching it,
though I do have to say I was going crazy
remember it songs. There was a couple of songs. I
ain't no, just a couple, but we're from besides.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
But it was still a good time.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
But it was amazing. Yeah, and there was something I
was so excited to hear. So I'm sure that's gonna
help them streams even more. Right, all right, now, Carmelo
Anthony has a House of Mellow exhibit that's opened at
Baltimore's Historic pre Library. Shout out to my guy D Wakins,
who's a professor D Watkins who also wrote Carmelo's book,
and he is they're bringing his life story to Baltimore
(18:54):
with this opening of House of Mellow. It's a free exhibit.
It's opened through you said, December twentuber twentieth. Yep. So
it's an immersive experience into his life and legacy. It's
an intimate glimpse into his journey, his childhood, photographs, a
recreated locker room with his signature, looks, his favorite songs,
a milk create hoop and all of those things. And
(19:14):
D Watkins said it's a dream come true. A lot
of times you are pushing the fall stereotypes, as if
we don't love literature, a great storytelling. To see people
pop up at the library like this, it's a beautiful thing.
Literally thousands of kids came.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Out shout out to West Baltimore, like, I love Baltimore.
I have a lot of family out there, and now
to just bring they're celebrating a hometown hero, Carmela Anthony.
Obviously he deserves all the praise and accolades. So you know,
you got to give people their flowers while they're alive.
Speaker 5 (19:40):
And I'm happy to see.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Baltimore and anything that gets people excited to go to
the library. When they did book.
Speaker 5 (19:44):
Ahove, oh yes, yup in Brooklyn.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
At the public Library in Brooklyn, and it was crazy.
Speaker 5 (19:49):
It was crazy.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
That's what that's going to be like. So that's dope,
all right, Well, that's your Yet when we come back
under the radar, the stories that are not necessarily in
the headlines, they're flying under the raider, but you definitely
need to know about it. Even more ways for your
boss to know that you're out of the office, we'll
tell you what's happening now.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
News This in the news that relates to you. These
stories are flying under the radar.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Yeah, it's way yup at the Angela yee, and I'm
here with my guest host, Selena Hill for today. Hey, y'all,
and you'll be back Friday, yes period. All right, well,
let's get into some of these under the radar stories. Now,
Amazon is laying off thousands of corporate workers. They want
to slim down and spend a lot more money on AI.
Speaker 5 (20:28):
Come on, yep.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
So they're going to cut about fourteen thousand corporate jobs.
That's about four percent of their workforce. And they've ha
been getting it pressure to tighten their finance. It's interesting
because they make so much money.
Speaker 5 (20:40):
You wouldn't think, like Jeff Bezos is one of the
richest people on planet Earth.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
Right, So but you got to tighten it up now.
News reports suggest layoffs could affect as many as thirty
thousand corporate jobs across human resources, and you know Starbucks
has cut off nearly two thousand corporate jobs as well.
Targets said they're going to cut eighteen hundred jobs from
their corporate headcount. As everybody's trying to I guess say,
(21:05):
f us, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Because they invested so much in AI and they have
to see an ROI. So that's why they're cutting down
the workforce. And basically we're all getting replaced.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
All right. And Microsoft teams right now is going to
be able to detect when an employee arrives at the office.
It's going to monitor their connection to the building's Wi Fi.
So if you're late or you're doing different things, your
boss will know, oh no.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Oh no, because we're back in the office now a
couple more days.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
And Microsoft's as soon as you step in, they're gonna
let that's when you have to give somebody else your laptop,
right the work around. Listen, I don't worked in the
office before where I had to punch people in. Remember
when people had to punch a clock or sign in.
I worked in retail where you had to sign in
on the register.
Speaker 5 (21:51):
Remember those days.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
And baldness there could potentially be a cure. So everybody's
ears perked up in while the guys in here their
ears perked up. But there's a serum that was created
from researchers in at the National Taiwan University that caused
hair regrowth and mice in just twenty days, and so
what male baldness. Did you know is the most common
(22:14):
in the United States? Because yeah, well, and it's probably
the food too, and the food, but it's genetics, it's aging,
certain medical conditions, diet and stress. Those are the reasons.
So there's treatments that already available, but they're saying this
could be a game changer. So you guys, oh so
now you don't got to go to Turkey, right, you don't.
Speaker 5 (22:33):
Got to get the replacement surgery.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
All right, Well, we do have the way it mixed
for you at the top of the hour, and Selena
Hill is guest hosting. We're going to learn more about
what you have going on to because we got to
we got more yet and we got asked yee on
the way, it's way up.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
She's like the like they like they angel man.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
She's spilling it all. This is yeaty well.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
It's way up at the angela ye. And I'm here
today with my guest host, Selena Hill. Thank you for
joining me, of course, having a good time, I am.
And we were looking at this news story, you know,
during the mix and Drake and Aiden Ross and Steak
are facing a major lawsuit and this is over that
gambling promotion that they've been doing. It's an online casino
company and now there's a class action lawsuit. Can you
(23:20):
break it down?
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Yeah, So it's saying that they're being sued. Basically, the
state of Missouri is saying that Drake and Aiden Ross
have been collaborating together and promoting state as a result
that is influencing young people. Basically, Steak is they're saying
(23:43):
that Drake is one of Steak's unofficial influencers and anything.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
It did it right.
Speaker 3 (23:53):
So basically if he's promoted, first of all, they give them.
Steak gives Drake and Aiden Hell's money. So anything that
they if they even they say, oh we lost money,
it's still a part of our marketing tactic. So and
obviously Drake has millions of fans, so by him promoting
online gambling, young people are gonna look at that.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
And be like, oh, okay, I want to get involved.
I want to do it too.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
So they're kind of like blurring the lines of legality
there well.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
And they even posted I saw online they were posting
like some old clips of Drake, Aiden Ross and also
the owner of Steak basically having a conversation where you
can see that they're actually getting funds added to their
gambling account. Listen to this added five hundred kate Vault balance.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Please, yes, Drake, we're clear.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
Yeah, we're clear.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
We're good. I think we're we're Eddy Eddie. I owe
you one.
Speaker 5 (24:42):
I actually owe you one.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Oh my wow.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
And my Roulette when win came through.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Oh wow, I'm oh my god, wow, trained good good lord.
Now I think that I don't know if this would
be a problem if they were openly saying we're getting
paid where you you know, this is an ad this
is an endorsement. I think the problem comes in with
them acting like this is their own money and it's unofficial. Yeah,
(25:07):
so it's not like you know how they'd be like
hashtag ad or. And so here is Drake on you know,
on live basically streaming saying that he's using real money.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Love to see chat like just talking crazy.
Speaker 12 (25:22):
Like oh yeah, you guys, and you're like fake Gamma, Yo,
listen to me when I tell you the amount of
hours and the amount of I've been through with these
guys in this chat right here, ups and downs, real money,
lending each other money, doing this.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Doing that.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Yeah, so it's a little misleading because you're not saying
we're playing with house money. You know, here's a disclaimer
and a lot of young fans and people that are
influenced by this. So it'll be interesting to see how
that plays out. Because this is really in federal court
in Missouri, YEP. So they filed this suit there yesterday
because in some places online gambling is also not legal.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
That part. It's just business practice. That's what the lawsuit
is claiming. So we'll we'll see, we'll see how this
plays out.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Yeah, with all these gambling things going on, Paul Parris,
in the meantime, has been formally hit with two criminal
charges after he got arrested in La earlier this month.
Prosecutors are charging him with one count of driving under
the influence of alcohol and one kind of driving with
zero point eight percent blood alcohol content. He was taken
into custody. Now, remember he said that he was just
stuck in standstill traffic for forty five minutes and fell asleep,
(26:27):
and he said, I'm old, I'm tired, and I fell asleep.
I'm good y'all thinks for the love. But they're saying
that he was drinking and driving.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
I mean, I will say this you.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
I gees sleepy too sometimes and like standstill traffic will
kind of drain your energy.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
But the evidence is the evidence.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Yeah, well, we'll see what ends up going on with
that because they did take a blood test and that
is your yee te. When we come back, we have
asked yee eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.
Any question you have, Me and Selena are going to
help you out. That's eight hundred two nine two fifty
one fifty. If you have a question, it could be
about work, it could be about relationships, friendships, any of
(27:05):
those things. Just some advice. We got you back. Eight
hundred two nine two fifty one fifty.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
It's a famous women in radio radio women. We're talking
about Angela.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Ye.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
You're way up with Angela Yee. Please believe that.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
All right? Its way up with Angela Yee. And I'm
here with Selena Hill, who's been guest hosting today.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
So Selena, we threw you in here, and I know
who you are, and I've been following your career for
a while, but i want to make sure that everybody's aware.
And I'm trying to think of when we first met,
because you are a journalist, a real journalist, and you've
definitely interviewed me before, but I've met you before.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
That, Like, I know you've been a featured in Black
Enterprise a few our events for years, so I feel.
Speaker 5 (27:43):
Like it might have been no, no, no, no, I've
seen you at events.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Yeah, And speaking of seeing each other at events, I
feel like Selena is always working. That's one thing about you.
You hosted so many panels, so many events. You're the
go to person. I feel like when people want somebody
who is knowledgeable about everything about entertainment but also about politics,
about what's going on in the world and listen, I
(28:09):
just want to say, like, whenever I see you in
this space. I just recently saw you at the Pink
Power Dinner YEP, and I was like, Selena, like, I
need you to come up here. Yes, and guests host
some way up with you because Black Enterprise is one
of the publications where you are the director of multi
platform Contents. How long have you been at Black Enterprise.
Speaker 5 (28:28):
Oo, girl, I've been there for nine years.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Okay, yes, And I was telling you earlier that you've
also interviewed so many people that are icon to, like
Queen Latita. That's somebody that I went to one day
being able to get an interview with.
Speaker 5 (28:42):
She was so funny too.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
I remember, like we did it virtually and she started
doing like a British accent, like out of nowhere and
had me like cracking up laughing, like she's so personable.
Speaker 5 (28:54):
I had a great time. Let's just talking to her,
you know.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
But then going from that, you've interviewed Kamala Harris, Yes.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Yes, viewed her when she was just about to announce
that she was going to run it to be President
Biden's vice president.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Let me ask you this because you know there's been
some rumors going around that she may potentially run again.
What do you think about that?
Speaker 5 (29:15):
She said? She said, it's very possible.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
I mean, what do you think about her running again?
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Like, I think we're gonna have to really pay attention
because I mean a lot of times when a candidate
does not make it the first time, I feel like
the electorate isn't always as gracious. Like a lot of
times folks are like, well they lost already, we want
somebody new.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
Personally, I like Kamala a lot.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
She has the credentials, she has the portfolio, she can
do a great job.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
She would have been a much better president than what
we have now.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
But I mean, if she runs and she becomes the
Democratic nominee, she will definitely have my vote.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
All right, So if it was between her because Gavin
Newsom's also been talking, I love.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
Gavin Newsom too, especially the way he's been trolling Trump,
the from the me the hat that he made, I mean,
the way that he just mimics Trump and everything he does.
I think that's made him very relevant. I love the
fact that Gavin Newsom has talked talked to people on
the other side of the aisle, from Steve Banning or
Charlie Kirk, Like he's showing that Democrats don't have to
(30:16):
be in a box, and he's doing things a little differently,
and he's using humor I think to really build his base.
Speaker 5 (30:22):
So I like what he's doing.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
All Right, we're gonna talk more to you when we
come back. Selena Hill is here. You also have your
own He'll Rise Media. You're the founder of that, and
we're gonna talk about that when we come back. It's
way up.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Yeah, yeah, more way up with now.
Speaker 1 (30:41):
That's way up with Angela. Yeah, I'm here with Selena
Hill and we're talking about not just you working as
a director of multi platform content and black enterprise, but
you being an entrepreneur and founding hill Rise Media. Yeap,
talk to me about that.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Yeah, So you know, I was always doing consulting in
an unofficial manner, like years ago, I was working with
Angela Simmons and helping her team out, and then I
was like, I think it was twenty twenty three. I
was like, this is the year I want to do
it officially. I got my LLC, I started getting clients,
started working with people and consulting when it comes to
media relations, public relations, and also events.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
And just the things, just like the information, the.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
Insight that I've gained over the years working in media
and journalism, just sharing that with other people, all their
business owners, like your selfie, like obviously you don't need
any help in.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Those areas, and like a lot of people act like
we don't need help because sometimes people can see things
that you can't see. True, and we are always evolving.
And I feel like when I step out to events,
because I feel like I'm so busy all the time.
I don't go out much, but when it's a room
to be in, you are always in the room to
be in.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Yes, but that's important too, because I also think people
have to understand the importance of even sometimes if you
don't feel like it, pulling yourself that part out of
the bed, pulling yourself out of the house and off
the couch and going out and talking to people and
being there, because that's how the opportunity happen a lot.
Speaker 5 (32:00):
Girl.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
So one of my clients, we've been doing strategic positioning
with her and getting her in those rooms and she
landed a really big deal or really like she's signed
to UTA just by being in a room, you know,
I mean, like, I mean.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Obviously she's she's a super dope person.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
But sometimes help that's the foundation you're done. But then
how do people make you get.
Speaker 5 (32:20):
To that next level?
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Like, yeah, being out and about Like you said, ye,
I'm a people person. I'm either at an event or
I'm hosting an event, and it has led to a
lot of opportunities for me.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
You know, there's a lot of people right now struggling
with finding work and employment, and black women in particular
are having quite a challenging time. Can you talk to
us about that and some advice or things that you
see that could help because I know, even in the
field of media and journalism it's been tough, but it's
been tough all around, it really has.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
I mean, just this year, three hundred thousand black women
have left the workforce or been fired. We see what's
happening on the federal level. The Trump administration have been
making mass federal cuts. Obviously, we have a Shutdow you
talked about earlier, how Amazon is making huge corporate cuts.
So the economy it self right now is not looking good.
A lot of folks are losing opportunities. However, we need
(33:11):
to find other opportunities. We have wisdom, we have insight,
like I just said, consulting, if you were working in
corporate or you have your own business, you can use
that to teach others, to empower others, whether it's client
to client or even working with other corporations, because, like
you said.
Speaker 5 (33:28):
People don't know everything.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
And I think with us as black women, we have
such a unique perspective because you know, we see things differently.
We deal with discrimination, we deal with microaggressions, and we
know how to help corporations navigate that. We know how
to help other professionals navigate those you know, navigate that scene.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
So I think we have a lot to contribute.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
I love this all right, Well, you'll be back on Friday,
yes for sure. And when we come back, you guys
have the last word because this is our Way Up
with the family with the word he is the last
word on Way Up with Angela. Ye, yeah, it's way
Up Addy Angela. Yee. Selina Hale, your first time guest
hosting on Way Up. How you feel I feel.
Speaker 5 (34:09):
Good, girl, I can't wait to come back.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Okay, good, I'm glad. But we had a good time
talking to you guys today. We are still keeping our
eye on everything that's happening in Jamaica with Hurricane Melissa,
and just praying for Jamaica absolutely. Yeah. Devastating Category five
Hurricane Melissa has made landfall in Jamaica. They're saying this
could reshape Jamaica for years to come and trigger a
(34:31):
humanitarian disaster. So just we're keeping our eye on it
and doing whatever. Like I know, people are already planning
on what it is that we want to do, so
we will keep you updated as we're vetting those out.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
We to donate, how to give exactly.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
All those things all right, Well, listen, a lot of
people called in today. We were having discussions about Justin
Bieber on twitch yep. He said that thinking about adultery
adultery is the same as committing adultery. A lot of
y'all called into weigh in, so let's let you have
the last word.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Man.
Speaker 10 (35:06):
Look, I just wanted to shine the light on my wife.
We've been together for a minute about eighteen years, and
through those times I took her through a light but
she stood by me, and you know, it took some time,
but I got my stuff straight and we're good now.
We have six kids and she's a wonderful mother and
she deserved that.
Speaker 6 (35:27):
Hey, this is Jamika McCullen, and I really would love
to shine the light on my mother, Melanie McCollen. She
lost everything in a fire and she has rebuilt everything
all over again in a year, and I just want
to let her know how proud of her are?
Speaker 2 (35:44):
You? Tapped in and way up with Angela Yee
