We got the other one right here.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
We always have this in here just as a reminder
because it's a team effort. Guys. But when we come back,
we're going to shine a light. And I do want
to shine a light on an institution that's personal to
me as a person who loves to read, who loves research.
And of course you get to shine a light too.
This is your show. Eight hundred nine two fifty one
fifty Call us up. Let us know who you want
to spread some love to. It's way up.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
On What's Up, Its Way Up with Angela Yee and
It's time to shine a light eight hundred and two
nine two fifty one fifty And today I want to
shine a light on the Schomberg Center for.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Research in Black Culture.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
They're celebrating their one hundredth anniversary this year. It's in Harlem.
It's part of the New York Public Library. Fun fact,
I actually did my book club there at a certain
point with Devon Franklin as a special guest.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
But it is such an amazing institution.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
It's a dedicated to preserving and studying Black history and culture.
So literally every book, every magazine is archived. They're having
a year long celebration. They have a new exhibition that
just opened. It's one of the largest they've ever had.
It's free, like everything at the library, so you see
materials from Fab five Freddy's collection documenting hip hop's earliest days,

(01:55):
even handwritten pages from James Baldwin, Maya, Angelou, Lorraine Hansbury,
first editions from the Harlem Renaissance legends themselves, which is amazing.
There's also a summer festival June fourteenth, book giveaways, new programs.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
They even have a limited edition, New York Public Library card.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
I love my card, all right, So shine a light
on the Schanberg Center in Harlem. Shout out to them. Now,
who do you want to shine a light on? Joey,
who do you want to shine a light on?

Speaker 1 (02:21):
I would like to shiginn the light on my wonderful wife,
Miss Glass.

Speaker 6 (02:25):
She just recently turned thirty eight.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
Okay, I just recently graduated from our end to an LPGO.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Yeah, yeah, And I just want to sign a light
on her. She's just so amazed. I just want to
let her know that all over her and keep pushing things.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
All right, Well, thanks for calling shout out, miss Jasmine.
That would shine a light eight hundred and two ninety
two fifty one fifty. If you couldn't get through, you
could still leave a message and shine a light that way.
And when we come back, we have her yet, and
we want to talk about Kai Sana. His Streamer university
is all the time amongst all of the content creators,

(03:02):
and one TikToker, Zoey Spencer was not picked for Streamer University,
and he actually attempts to explain why, and we flashed
back to the incident that he's talking about, we want
to definitely see what you think.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
It's way up.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
She's like to talk like they Angela Jean like they
Angela Jean Man.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
She's spilling it all. This is yeaty way up.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
What's up?

Speaker 4 (03:25):
His way up with Angela yee and it is time
for your yea tea. Well, Kaysa Natt has this host
streamer University that he's doing and one person was upset
that they weren't picked Zoe Spencer. Here is her reaction
online and she said it felt personal.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
It's not about not getting in. It feels so personal.

Speaker 7 (03:46):
It's different when it's like, you know, it's like hand pick,
then it's just so spiteful.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Well, recently Kayson I streamed and talked about why he
did not pick her for the program.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
He was a little bit vague. Here's what he said,
September twenty fourth show.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
I never like to tell you how that made me feel.

Speaker 8 (04:06):
I dead ass for the first time and my bet
I get to like talk about it with you, but
like felt embarrassed.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Well, of course, you know, the internet never forgets. And
the incident that he's referring to. People believe that this
right here is what went down.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
I just don't like the fight that you're near as
a spell. Bro, you didn't even pull up with nothing.

Speaker 9 (04:25):
You're a bomb ass I'm talking about.

Speaker 7 (04:28):
You want me, I'm a barrishoe call me a all right.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
Well, I see people in the comments. People are like,
I mean, yes, it's definitely personal, but it's also his events.
And they also are like, well, she can you know,
do something else. She didn't have to get picked for this.
It was just a little bit crazy. I feel like
maybe the two of them just don't mix, and maybe
at some point that two of them can come together
and have some type of understanding. But I definitely see

(05:05):
both sides of this. All right, That is your ute.
When we come back, we have about last night.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
That's where we discussed what we did last night.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
And you guys know, I'm always trying to stay up
on what's going on with the latest TV shows. Well,
the one that we're watching right now gives us a
great pleasure to talk about. Me and my associate producer
Navy have been watching this show and being's watching it
by the way on Netflix will tell you what it is.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
It's way up night.

Speaker 5 (05:29):
So about last night, Yes, Pisi went.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Down, what's up his Way Up with Angela Yee, And
it's time for about last night. So I'm here with
my guy Navy, who's you know him as the associate
producer for Way Up at Angela Yee. Congratulations on your Gracie.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Call me but we both have.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Been watching on Netflix forever. This is a Judy Bloom novel.
That's what this show is based on. It's based in
Los Angeles and it's also created by Mara brock a kill.
You know her from doing Girlfriends And so basically the
two main characters, Keisha and Justin, they're in high school.
They knew each other, they grew up together. I guess

(06:11):
they kind of like lost touch.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
Yeah, they went to kindergarten and then you know, yes,
separate ways funny again in high school.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
And he's a little awkward and she has her own
issues now her issue and this is not a spoiler.
Apparently a guy that she had dated, a tape of
her performing oral had gotten out and circulated around the school. So,
you know, people talk and they call you all kinds
of names when you're a young woman. He didn't have
no issues. It was really people going in on her,

(06:39):
which is unfortunate, but that is what happens, right. The
woman is the one to get to judge while the
man is like, yo, bro, that's dope. You got that off,
and so you know when they reconnect. That's something that
I feel like is it's traumatizing, especially when you're in
high school and your reputation is marred. It really caused
her to have to like leave her school go to
another school.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
It caused her a lot.

Speaker 6 (07:00):
There's a huge domino effect that affected her, her mom
and everyone around her.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Was pretty terrible.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
But it just makes you think, even when you're young,
you don't make the best decisions. I've heard people like
my friend Keys, who does my makeup? She was talking
about the issues that came up on this series and
made her think about her kids because her kids are teenagers,
and it made her be like, oh my god, this
a lot of this reminds me of what it's like
raising my teenage kids.

Speaker 6 (07:24):
Yeah, it put me right back to high school and
even my sisters who were graduating high school right now.
I'm just thinking to myself, like, dang, all these things
I probably don't know, Yeah, why would you?

Speaker 2 (07:33):
I don't want to know honestly.

Speaker 4 (07:34):
And that's that age where you're super secretive sneaking people
in the house. Oh yeah, did that all right? My
parents listen? So I never did that?

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Psych all right?

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Well, anyway, that is about last night if y'all haven't
seen Forever. And I also want to point out Regina
King's one of the executive producers on the show too.
You see her name also pop up. So all people
that we absolutely love. I think I read every single
Judy bloom book when I was growing up, and Beverly
Cleary talking about high school and thinking about those things
as we're trying to get ready for college.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
That's what that show Forever is about.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Let's talk about this article that was in Fortune, the
ten worst paying college majors. And when you go to college,
you're thinking about what to major in. You're also thinking
about what can I use this degree for. We'll tell
you what the ten worst paying college majors are.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
It's way up. Yeah, Oh, let's go turn me up.

Speaker 5 (08:22):
Here we go up the This is way up with
angela ye.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
What's up is way up with angela Ye?

Speaker 4 (08:28):
And you know we just talked about the show Forever
that's on Netflix. Well, now, let's talk about college degrees,
because on that show two high school students getting ready
for college. And then I saw this article in Fortune
Back to Reality. It says some degrees are really a
waste of time and money. These are the ten worst
paying college majors.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Now, my producer Dan and Navy who are in the room. Guy,
What did you guys?

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Major in college communications? What about your Navy, same exact thing.
Oh well, don't do that, guys. No, kidd, that's on
the list, number one of the worst paying I believe. No,
it's definitely not. It's not on the list. The number
one thing on the list is foreign language. That said
the worst paying degrees for early career earnings, I don't
mean later on, it won't lead to more at an

(09:14):
average of forty thousand dollars, followed by general social sciences
than performing arts, anthropology, early childhood education, family and consumer sciences,
general education, miscellaneous, biological science, social services, theology, and religion.
Those are the top ten worst paying degrees. I hate

(09:35):
the fact that early childhood education are on this list
because those are some of the most important jobs a
person can have. And I also want to say that
if you're super passionate about something. That doesn't mean that
you can't do it. Just know that you're going to
have to be creative when it comes to getting that bag,
or knowing that maybe just as you're starting out, because

(09:55):
these are early career earnings, you might start out really
low and have.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
To work your way up.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Your major wasn't on there, right, English? Yeah, I wasn't
on that list though, Right, No, it's not.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
On the list.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
I was an English major, but people told me that
it's a bad major. I thought I might be a teacher,
and that's why I did it. People were like, what
are you going to do with an English degree? But
it worked out. And I want to say a lot
of people also don't end up doing whatever they majored
in college true as well, so I just want to
point that out too. But anyway, make sure you guys
check out that full article again that is from Fortune

(10:25):
about what are the top ten worst paying college majors.
And when we come back, we have your yee te
let's talk about the weekend.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
That is Dan's favorite artist. Well, he has another movie
out and hurry up tomorrow will tell you how that did.
It's way up.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
Sure, she's about to blow the lead ab off this spot.
Let's get it angels building.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
That yee te come and get the tea. What's up?

Speaker 4 (10:48):
His way up with angela yee and it's time for
your yee t. So the Weekend?

Speaker 3 (10:52):
Hurry up tomorrow? Dan? Did you see this movie?

Speaker 2 (10:55):
I did not.

Speaker 8 (10:56):
Dan.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
My producer is also a huge fan of the Weekend,
Yes you are. Did you like his show that he
had on Netflix?

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Was it on?

Speaker 10 (11:05):
No?

Speaker 3 (11:05):
What was it on?

Speaker 2 (11:05):
I forgot it was?

Speaker 3 (11:06):
It was on HBO Max. Yeah it was the Idol?

Speaker 5 (11:09):
Right?

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Was it idol or something?

Speaker 2 (11:11):
Woof ouch painful?

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Well, hurry Up Tomorrow bombed as well. It made three
point three million dollars. Now something that I want to
see Final Destination Bloodlines that made fifty one million dollars,
just to kind of pit those two against each other,
so yes, hurry up tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
It got a sixth place spot at the box office.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
I don't know what it is, but for some reason
it doesn't connect with him doing like TV and movies
and things like that.

Speaker 3 (11:38):
It got a fourteen percent of Rotten Tomatoes. Ou as well.

Speaker 10 (11:41):
Ou.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
The album's incredible though, and I will.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Be at the show all right.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Well, yeah, maybe that just means some things just you know,
aren't it. And Dione Sanders, you know he has his
docusaries coming to Netflix Primetime. It's going to be an
in depth look at three acts of his life. Being
a two sports star in football and baseball, becoming a
fixture in media as an NFL commentator, and a reality
show phenomen.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
He introduced the world to his children on his reality.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Show, and then now being a head coach in Colorado
where he led the team to a nine to four
record in twenty twenty four after they had just one
win prior to him getting the job. You want to
see that, absolutely, I'll definitely watch that. He's got a
great personality to watch on television.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
I don't call him prime time for nothing.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
All right, Well that is your yet and when we
come back, we have under the radar. These are the
stories that are not necessarily in the headlines. They're flying
under the radar. But you need to know about him.
And let's talk about Donald Trump. He wants to investigate Beyonce,
Bruce Springsteen, Bono and Oprah Winfrey will tell you why.
It's way up news edition, the news that relates to you.

Speaker 5 (12:46):
These stories are flying under the radar.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
What's up his way up? But angela yea, and it's
time for under the radar and now. Donald Trump posted
on truth Social yesterday that he wants to investigate some superstars.
So he said, how much did Kamala Harris paid Bruce
Springsteen for his poor performance during her campaign for president?
Why did he accept that money if he's such a
fan of hers? Isn't that a major and illegal campaign contribution?

(13:11):
What about Beyonce and how much went to Oprah and Bono?
I'm going to call for a major investigation into this matter.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
He said.

Speaker 4 (13:17):
Candidates aren't allowed to pay for endorsements, which is what
Kamala did.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Hello, Donald Trump, didn't you do the same thing?

Speaker 4 (13:24):
We know about all of the people that you paid
to actually also come and do your campaign appearances. And
by the way, a lot of artists will say, just
because I went and performed, that doesn't mean it's an endorsement.
Some people are endorsing, some people are performing. But I
think he did the same exact thing, So I don't
understand what the issue is. I'm speaking of investigating. The

(13:46):
WNBA is investigating reports of racial slurs that were directed
toward Angel Reese during the Chicago Skuy's loss to the
Indiana Fever on Saturday. The league said the WNBA strongly
condemned racism, hate, and discrimination in all forms have no
place in our league or society. We are aware of
the allegations are and are looking into the matter. So
we don't know when the alleged incident happened in Saturday's game,

(14:09):
but the Fever did release a statement saying they are
aware of the allegations of inappropriate fan conduct, and they
said they are working closely with the WNBA to complete
their investigation. All right, well, that is your under the radar,
and we do have the way it mixed for you
at the top of the hour. Plus when we come back,
we got some more yet we got asked ye and
of course you guys have the last word.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
It's way up.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
Everybody listen.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Yee. But you all being way and.

Speaker 5 (14:38):
You're tapped in the way up with Angela yee.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
What's up this way up with Angela yee? And welcome
loose to the show.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
What's up? True?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, side, I'm a little nervous, a little bit too.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
No, you're not.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
This is yee t and I just want to talk
about the fact that you got accepted to streamer University Kasanat.
So we were discussing this and it was not an
easy thing because everybody was trying. I mean people were
literally crying online about not getting in.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
So can you just give us a little bit of
your background.

Speaker 8 (15:04):
So, actually I met car Sanat randomly for the first
time at the met Gala Farah after party.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
You were streaming with him.

Speaker 8 (15:11):
I wasn't sure I was one stream and somehow I
was on there for thirty minutes and the chat was
going crazy, W callos W Carlos, and I was like
in my own world. And he came up to me
and said, Yo, you're going to be a superstar. Just
make sure you apply for streaming university. I went to
the website and crash, and I was like, all right,
so forget it.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
There was nothing.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
I was like, yeah, you gave up that easy.

Speaker 10 (15:32):
I know.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
I didn't even know how it was. You know what
I'm saying, pause, but I know it was.

Speaker 8 (15:39):
And after like two days I got through.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
I made my video. I ended up sending him the
wrong video.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Dang.

Speaker 8 (15:46):
But they still here ain't even really what this in
trying to say, like what you do at that party
to get into this. It was this all put together,
you organized this, It was set up. They thought it
was set up, and I was like, yo, I never
met Kyle. I didn't plan on stream University.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
I wasn't aware.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
And how did you how did you even end up
at that party?

Speaker 8 (16:06):
You know, you meet people, you know what I'm saying.
And I knew a couple of PR people and they
was hitting there.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
So I just went with him. And she said, just
keep your turtle net going.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
I had a turtle net, okay, and that's important during
the met gallat times you gotta have on a turtle
neck yet turtle.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
And they didn't stop me from coming in and I
was in there.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
That's a life changing thing though, like the fact that
you went to that party, got in, ended up streaming
on kas and that stream you're on his stream for
thirty minutes, and now you're in Streamer University.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
So what happens at Streamer University?

Speaker 8 (16:36):
Kai actually said, it's not about streaming, that's a part
of not about teaching people how to stream. It's more
about connecting, networking, helping each other grow and as professors,
and they're going to teach us how to create content
even outside of the streaming world.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
That's great.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
Yes, I have a smaller platform, but I'm excited and you're.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
A humble, nice guy too.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
I try to don't change. I'm making here acting funny.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
I change, but it's gonna get real funny.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
Oh it's about to turn out.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
Okay, all right, well, thank you for giving us some insight.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
I can't wait for you to go. When do you start?

Speaker 8 (17:09):
Actually they just sent us an email yesterday and we
fly out tomorrow day.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
It's only four days.

Speaker 8 (17:14):
Though, there's only four days, and I do plan on
sticking it in a pause.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
I do plan on, like very pusy. Yeah, yeah, I'm very.

Speaker 8 (17:21):
Positive, but I do plan on, you know, doing my
job and doing my best. Okay, appreciate everything and all
the opportunities coming on.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
All right, perfect, all right, well, thank you so much
for giving us some insight.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Yes, and looks where can people follow? Follow?

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (17:33):
So it's all those work on Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Twitch.
You can find me all my cousins. It's all those
working and we turn it up.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
All right, Well, thank you for joining us, and when
we come back, ask ye eight hundred two nine two
fifty one fifty.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Any question you have, I'm here to help you out.
It's way up, whether.

Speaker 5 (17:48):
It's relationship, for career advice, Angela's dropping facts.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
This is as key. What's up its way up at
the Angela Gie.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
And you know what we do every single day of
the week that we like to hear your questions, try
to help you in any way that we possibly can
up here. And today we have a renee on the line.
What's that renee?

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Kind was up?

Speaker 1 (18:07):
I wanted to know what I should do with a
situation where a cousin that doesn't like me lew my
kid out.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
How does your kids? Okay? Now, why doesn't your cousin
like you?

Speaker 1 (18:19):
I don't know. She just do petty stuff on unblocked her,
and I unblocked her for the sake of my mother.
My cousin wants a relationship with my son all of
a sudden, so they secretly booked this trip. I overheard
the conversation on a speakerphone about them keeping it away
from me.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
And what did your son say when you asked him
about it?

Speaker 1 (18:39):
He was just kind of like if I told you
I was going to her, you would.

Speaker 8 (18:43):
Have said no.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
And I'm like, you.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
Didn't need to ask me.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
You just need to fill me in, not keep it
a secret.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
So he went out and didn't even tell you that
he was going out of town.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Neither one of them. When she found out that I
told him I didn't want him to go, that's when
she called me screaming or I don't want him to
have a relationship, And I'm like, you're sneaky, Like this's
the first I'm hearing that life.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
And I understand that, and you're the parent, and she
needs to know that. She can't be trying to go
behind your back and minimize what your authority is with
your son. But as an adult, he did make a decision,
and that's the main thing. What was the reasoning and
the rationale behind his decision. And I really do hope
that you and your cousin can come to some type
of understanding because it feels like you're gonna end up

(19:27):
seeing her at family gatherings right well, I.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Have no interest in seeing either one of them, So.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
I just don't want you to alienate yourself from everybody
because of how much you are not getting along with
your cousin.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
And I want to make.

Speaker 4 (19:40):
It feels like you have something in your head and
you're not open to hearing other things, and sometimes you
kind of just have to like, all right, look, I
accept what it is you're saying. I may not agree
with you, but let's figure out how we can move forward.
I don't want you to just say everybody's against me.
It's over, like y'all are alienating me on this side.

(20:00):
You guys are on that side for the sake of
the family and your relationship with your son, which is
the most.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Important thing here.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
You maybe need to hear what other people have to say,
and maybe it's worth everybody having like a conversation to
get their feelings on the table without accusing any one
of everything, just expressing how you feel and then come
in to say time, I.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Told her, she knows how I felt, and they just
chose to do otherwiines, so you know, they stayed the
decision they need to si woy.

Speaker 4 (20:25):
You know, I just don't want this to disturb your bond.
And maybe this is something you and your son work
on your relationship first with each other, so that you
can have an understanding and be stronger with that bond
that you guys have before you worry about the rest
of the family.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Okay, all right.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
Renee, I want to just give you a hug right now.
It feels like you're going through it.

Speaker 9 (20:45):
Oh, I'm bud.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
All right, Well, good luck to you and thank you
for calling.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
Okay, thank you all right?

Speaker 4 (20:51):

get through or you have a question, eight hundred two
nineteen fifty one fifty is a number. And when we

will also be streaming. And we have a coach, my
