Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are now what I call yee.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Ay yay.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Yes, it's way up with Angela yee and Happy Wednesday.
It's already a hectic morning, but I'm out here in
la I haven't been to the La iHeart Studios in
quite a while, but it's beautiful. It's nice to see
like trees and nature as you're walking into work. Shout
out to big Boy, who I just saw in the hallway. Also,
I'm actually out here for the Gracie Awards that was

(00:38):
last night, so I'll tell you some information about what
went down. It's also a Wealth Wednesday and we'll be
talking about student loans with Natalie Jean Baptiste today. This
is important because I know a lot of people are
freaking out about their student loans. But we're gonna give
you all of the resources and places you need to
go to figure out what you need to do to
make sure this is not something that makes you feel
like you are drowning in debt. All right, Well, let's

(01:00):
get this show started with some love and some positivity.
And after the Gracies last night, I saw so many
amazing women, but one of them in particular, I want
to shine a light on. She's the first Black woman
to host a nature show on broadcast TV. And when
I tell you amazing, we'll talk about it. Let's shine
a light eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.

(01:21):
You're going to shine a light two.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
It's way up.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
I'm a shine, I'm a shine.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Turn your lights on, y'all. Light show spreading love to
those who are doing greatness.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
Shine the light on, shine a light on. It's time
to shine a light on.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
It's way up at Angela Yee, and it's time to
shine a light. And like I said, I was at
the Gracie Awards last night and I want to shine
a light on.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
One of the winners, doctor ray Wayne Grant.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
She is the first black woman to host a nature
show on broadcast TV. She talked about just watching educational
programming thinking I want to be a nature show host.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
She went to college.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
By the way, in her undergrad she was the only
black person and the first that they had to major
in environmental science. She ended up studying abroad. She was
in East Africa and that's the first time she.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Finally saw a black male ecologist.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
That was always the endgame for her and also saving
the environment. But I do think that seeing her on television,
that's gonna be what makes other people want to follow
in her footsteps. She was looped into talks from Mutual
of Omaha's while Kingdom protecting the Wild. She said she
didn't apply for the position, she didn't audition, and she
was shocked when she realized she was a first choice

(02:31):
to be a co host.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
So amazing. And when you see her like holding these
little baby bears.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
That are like shivering and free, I mean, it's just
amazing to see a black woman co hosting a nature show.
So shout out to her. And I already told her
I wanted to come on way up. So again I'm
shining a light on doctor ray Win Grant. Now, Chase
sou do you want to shine a light on?

Speaker 4 (02:52):
I want to shot a light on my beautiful sue
to be white with.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
He had married June twenty first.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Love to June twenty first. What's her name? Jamie Robinson?
Jamie Robinson?

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Your man, Your man loves you so much. June twenty
first is soon? Where y'all getting married?

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Oh, we're getting there. I gotta look at a little
haul of Westerville.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
So how has the process been for you? Planning everything.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
Oh, I actually keeping a planning.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Oh yeah, she's a keeper, taking cads, holding it down.
So you are a spa day before all this, Oh
nail day, all that?

Speaker 3 (03:33):
All right, Well, congratulations and I wish you a beautiful
life together forever.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
That would shine a light eight hundred and two ninety
two fifty one fifty if you couldn't get through, you
can always shine a light for last word. And when
we come back, let's get right into this yet, we'll
talk about Chris Brown out on bill. We'll tell you
what other people have to say as they're weighing in
on what is going on. Is there a larger conspiracy
at play?

Speaker 2 (03:57):
It's way up.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
This is in the room from industry shade to all.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Of gossip out angelus spilling that.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yet it's way up at Angela yee, and it's time
for some yet all right, Chris Brown has been freed
on a six point seven million dollar bill that is
ahead of his assault trial. Now, just to give you
guys some details. He is now free to start his
UK and Ireland tour. This starts in Manchester on June fifteenth,

(04:25):
but he's accused of causing grievous bodily harm by throwing
a tequille a battle in a nightclub. This happened in
Manchester in twenty twenty three.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Now.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
The person that he's accused of doing this too is
Abraham abe Diao, and he is a music executive. He's
a producer based in Florence, Italy. He calls himself the
Boss of Florence, Italy Nightlife on his Facebook profile. He
does pr for different clubs as well. He also owns
his own label. And he said he's known Chris Brown
for the past few years and which should have been

(04:55):
another night in his life, resulted in his hospitalization. The
allegation against Chris Brown or that they had an altercation
and that Chris Brown inflicted severe and lasting injuries, hit
him with a bottle of nineteen forty two, ruthlessly stomped
on him, kicked at the back of his neck, and
knocked him out cold for some time. He was then
hospitalized and left the hospital on crutches after reportedly suffering

(05:19):
lacerations on his head and torn ligaments in his leg.
He also says that Chris Brown has caused emotional distress,
damaged his professional reputation, and won sixteen million dollars. Now
Chris Brown is facing up to sixteen years of imprisonment.
I found guilty. Word on the street is that he
is going to try and get a plea deal in

(05:40):
this situation. So that is both sides of what's happening.
And Fat Joe had some things to say because he
does feel like Chris Brown is being conspired against.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Tears what he said, Chris Brown like this.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Is completely set up to me. He's going to Europe
to get ready for his store and they arrest him
and leave them in jail with no bad They were
like he killed somebody. Man.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
They said he hit a music producer with a bottle.
Where's the video? All right?

Speaker 3 (06:07):
So I guess we'll see as more details are gonna
come out. But people do feel like there's a conspiracy
against Chris Brown, and I've seen a lot of that
floating around online. And speaking of things we see floating
around online, that's why you gotta do a deep dive
into things right away.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
You know.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
He was arrested in Georgia on thirteen felony charges, including assault,
firearm possession, and property damage, and he was released on
bond fifty thousand dollars bond after this incident that happened
in April April twenty first, to be exact, and he's being.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Charged for that.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
But I saw some details around this and people were
saying it involved a woman, than when I did a
little search, said that he shot at his girlfriend's GA wagon. Well,
now I'm seeing more about what happened, and apparently this
is the report that we're getting and this is on TMZ.
They said Rodway was visiting his plays April twenty first

(07:04):
with his realtors and other associates after it had been
burglar rised, and he and one of his associates got
into a verbal argument as they were carrying out items
and that's when that pistol was pulled and fired. He
allegedly fired fourteen rounds in total, eleven which hit his
associates g wagon, one struck his twenty twenty two rolls Royce,
and one hit the wall of his residents.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
The final round has not been located.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
And so the assault and the actions by rod Way
broke his active bond order that was from a twenty
twenty battery incident. So that's why there was a warrant
for his arrest. So we'll see what happens with that case.
But his attorneys are saying to TMZ, there is no
truth to these charges. Rod Green was a victim of
a burglary and committed no crimes. How he was even

(07:49):
charged as a result of this situation is incomprehensible. This
will absolutely be resolved favorably to mister Green. All right,
well that is your yee te all of the updates.
Why we do these deep dives when we come back,
we have about last night. I told you guys, I'm
in La and I was quite inspired last night and
we wanted Gracie. We'll tell you about it. It's way

(08:10):
up night.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
So about last night, Yes, I went down.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
It's way up with Angela yee, and it is time
for about last night. So first of all, congratulations to
everybody who is working on Way Up with Angela.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Ye I'm in La.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
Right now, but Dan Navy, JP, Sydney, Liam, everybody that
is at the studio right now. Are you know we
want a Gracie and that is for nationally syndicated radio,
nationally syndicated commercial. So congratulations to you guys. It's our
second Gracie.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
And congratulations to you Angela Thank you also to everybody
else who won last night.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
My grandma Lissa Ford won her first Gracie for Hot
and Bothered. That's her podcast and to listen and when
I tell you, such a powerful room to be in.
Monica Lewinsky was on stage giving out an award. You
know who was really funny and one of the highlights
of the night. Jimmy Kimmel was there and his wife
Molly McNerney actually won an award for Unscripted.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Both of them were hilarious.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Him introducing her was so funny, and then her getting
on stage. The first thing that she admitted was that
she hated what.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
She had on.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
And I feel like everybody's had a moment like that
where you're like, what am I wearing?

Speaker 2 (09:29):
I hate my outfit? But here I am.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
But it was just an amazing, inspirational night to be
in that room with people that I admire so much.
Morgan Radford, Lonnie Love was there winning her award, just
so many people. It's the fiftieth anniversary for the Gracies too,
and so this is all about women in media, telling
their stories, women behind the scenes, women in front of

(09:51):
the camera. Now, one thing did happen that was quite unfortunate,
so my award wasn't until like after dinner. Then there
was a performance and I finally was like, I'm just
going to go to the bathroom because I don't know
when I have to get up to accept.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
And guess what happened, Dan, are you there?

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yes, I'm listening.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
As soon as I went to the bathroom, I'm coming
back and I'm all the way down the hall in
my tall heels and I hear them calling my name.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
You listen.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
I had to run back and get on and then
I was out of breath because it was such a
long run, and I was like, sorry, guys, I went
to the bathroom with the wrong time. That's the kind
of I know. So you know, so that happened. But again,
we're just super grateful, great room to be in. I
shout out to THEA to my girl, julie'sabbot every single
year when we do the gracies because I love to

(10:47):
come out here.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Whether or not we went and award, it's a great space.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
We have drinks afterwards, so that's what we did last
night and had a good time and celebrated.

Speaker 2 (10:56):
So congratulations to everyone.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
And when we come back it's time to tell us
to see I mean, I feel like we need an award.
Y'all need an award for these secrets. As a matter
of fact, maybe we need to tell us the secret Awards.
Eight hundred nine two fifty one fifty. Remember this is
a no judgment zone. You are anonymous. Call us up
and tell us a secret. That's eight hundred ninety two
fifty one fifty. You could win an award for this.

(11:19):
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty. Call us up,
tell us a secret. It's way up, way up.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
This is a judgment free zone. Tell us a secret.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
What's up? It's way up with Angela Yee. And you
know what time it is.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
It is time for you to call in to the
Gracie Award winning show Way Up with Angela Yee and
tell us a secret. And remember it's a no judgment zone.
You are anonymous. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty.
What's up, anonymous, color tell us a secret.

Speaker 6 (11:49):
My husband and I we were separated for a while
two years, and I became friends with his girlfriends. So
he and I were a good friend and we were creeping,
but she didn't know and he was killed last year,
and you know this, this this secret is like really

(12:09):
just eating at me.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
What are you gonna do? Like, I just since it's
eating at you.

Speaker 6 (12:13):
I don't know. I mean he's growing and you know
that's something like he can never confront him about it, right,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
You're still cool with this woman? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (12:25):
Yeah, well we have times. We don't have a sun
by him.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
You might get in the Hall of Fame for that one.
But thank you for calling. Thank you can at him
as Colin. How are you? Oh Bob, you want to
tell me a secret? Okay, so I almost could. It's
just as bad there as it is here. But the
egg crisis is just.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Been so insane.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Facts, So everyone.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
About Walmart or Family Dollar.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
I'll leave with about three eggs so somewhere, but there's
my bag, my bra leave girl.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
You stealing eggs?

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Yes?

Speaker 7 (12:58):
I need the ain't nobody got fifteen dollars?

Speaker 2 (13:02):
What if have you ever broke one?

Speaker 6 (13:05):
I can feel.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
I bring the shoes and all that, the comfort.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
The bubble wrap. You bring some bubble wrap boom.

Speaker 7 (13:12):
I learn her picking Lucia when I was in school.

Speaker 6 (13:16):
Wrap it up.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
Listen, do you steal anything besides eggs? Or is it
just eggs?

Speaker 6 (13:23):
No, I thank I'm right pop above in the bag.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
All right, well, your secret is safe for me. All
If you ever hear them going cold orange, cold orange,
just know they're coming for you though while you stealing.
All right, thank you for calling a all right, well
that was tell us a secret. Eight hundred two ninety
two fifty one fifty And I tell you where there's
no secrets. This Dinny trial will give you an update

(13:48):
when we come back with yut. The Feds have released
pictures of what they found in that Miami mansion.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
Rate we'll tell you what it is. It's way up.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Sure she's about to blow the lid ab off this post.
Oh angelus feeling that yee tea, Come and get the tea.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
It's way up at Angela yee and it's time for your.

Speaker 3 (14:06):
Yee t And let's do this Diddy update now, CNN
has said that Ditty's estimated four hundred million dollar fortune
can be seized if he is convicted. Now, let's not forget.
In twenty twenty two, his net worth was one billion dollars.
That number has dropped to four hundred million right now,
which is still quite a bit.

Speaker 2 (14:24):
But according to a chief legal analyst, Lori Coach.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
She says that they could take Ditty's assets if he
has found guilty in his federal trial, so that is
definitely something that can happen. In other news, the Feds
also released pictures of what they found in that Miami
mansion raid, and I don't.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Know that well.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
The one thing that I will say does feel a
little pertinent is they did find some hallow point bullets,
a handgun. They found an oozy submachine gun and parts
from an assault rifle.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Other things.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
I feel like, are you know, just to make us
talk to Dildo standing on a shelving unit near vasoline
and ac stroke glide. They also found some magic mushroom capsules.
They found a white powdery substance. They found marijuana hills,
things like that, cross with body stockings, knee highs, rope, handcuffs.

(15:13):
I know we've been talking about kid Cutti taking the
stand too. By the way, he is going to be
testifying tomorrow, not today, So that has been confirmed.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
In other news.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Right now, the trial is happening and on the stand
is don Hue. She is a BORD certified clinical and
forensic psychologist. She specializes in trauma and traumatic stress, and
so she is the person on the stand right now,
and what she's there for is to kind of help
people understand what goes on with people who are victims

(15:46):
of domestic violence and traumatic stress.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
She's a blind expert.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
She's also testified in other cases as well, including r Kelly.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
And one thing that she talked about is the fact that.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
The one thing she talked about is that a lot
of times people do return back and have a trauma
bond with the person who is victimizing them. And so
abusive relationships often have love and kindness in them in
addition to abuse. Clinical that's what they're saying right now.
So financial dependence, lack of resources is also another reason

(16:20):
that people are trapped in abusive relationships. Sometimes that abuser
plays a very important role in somebody staying.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
In that situation. How are you going to leave if
you don't have access to tangible resources. We hear about
this all the time.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Someone moves you far away from your family and friends,
they don't want you to work. Next thing, you know,
you're financially dependent. They call that financial abuse as well.
She also testified that victims often stay in abusive relationships.
So for everybody online, she could have just left. She
was able to leave, nobody had her locked up, she said.
Perpetrators often use various abusive methods beyond just physical violence

(16:55):
to make victims feel trapped. It's about the power and
control that the abuser has over the victim. All right,
So we'll keep you updated as that trial is still
going on. Now, let's talk about the White House. Jalen
Hurts and AJ Brown did skip the Eagles White House visit.
Here is what Jalen Hurts had to say about what happened.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
I wasn't available. I don't think that's pertinent.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Everyone went and was available.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
They seem to enjoy themselves period.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
That's exactly what Michelle Obama said. Also, AJ Brown responded
in this way.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
I had a personal reason I was dealing with that day.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
It wasn't about politics or who's in the office or anything,
you know.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
I just had some personal going on with my family.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
I feel you all right, Well, that is your yee tee.
When we come back, we have under the radar. These
are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
They're flying under the radar right now.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
And let's talk about this budget bill that they're trying
to pass, and it would be nearly one trillion dollars in.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Cuts, but some people will benefit. We'll talk about it.
It's way up.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
It's in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.

Speaker 2 (18:05):
All right.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
It's way up with Angela yee, and it's time to
discuss these under the radar stories.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Now, Dan and Naba are you here? Are you here
with me? I'm in la.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
So this bill is officially titled the One Big Beautiful Bill.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
Act Boy talk about marketing and so what is in
this bill?

Speaker 3 (18:25):
And here are some of the potential impacts as it
is right now, and they've been overnight meeting about this.
More than an estimated eight million recipients could lose Medicaid coverage.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
They said. It will cut SNAP food assistance.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
By about two hundred and thirty billion dollars over ten years.
That would narrow participation in the program, servicing roughly one
in eight Americans every month.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
It extends the twenty seventeen Trump tax cuts.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
It also fulfills Trump's campaign promises of no taxes on
tips and no taxes on overtime work. It would provide
a fifty billion dollar wall to renew construction of Trump's
border wall, and the impacts of the bill are estimates
based on early analysis that is by nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

(19:10):
And so I see that even all the Republicans are
not on board with this right now because they do
have constituents to have to answer to and the everyday
people that are going to be greatly affected by this. Dan,
what have you heard about this?

Speaker 1 (19:26):
This is actually news to me.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
You're telling me all about this, But he just won't
drop that wall. Yeah, he's still trying to get that done.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
Forget about Medicaid and people having health insurance.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Let's get this wall billers.

Speaker 8 (19:37):
You know.

Speaker 3 (19:37):
So key components of that legislation are going to come
up in the Rules Committee this morning.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
That's going to focus on tax provisions.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Like we said, GOP leaders have still not released expected
changes that's been negotiated right now to this bill.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
They said this is not going to pass today.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
The Republicans are arguing that we need to move forward
on this bill to ensure our economic survival. But people
are saying, what the hell are Republicans so afraid of?

Speaker 2 (20:04):
What the hell are you so scared of?

Speaker 8 (20:05):
That?

Speaker 3 (20:05):
Two guys are holding this hearing at one o'clock in
the morning. That's when they're having it. So if you're
proud of that bill, why are you trying to ram
it through in the dead of the night the matter. Yeah,
it's a one thousand page act, by the way, and
so it deals with immigration policy a whole lot more.
And people are not unified, not even the Republicans because

(20:28):
and I just want to put this out there because
I know people are saying things like, oh, we need
to be you know, Democrats need to be more outspoken.
Republicans also need to go against what is wrong because
you are elected to represent the places that you're in,
represent the people in your district, and it feels like

(20:48):
this doesn't represent that, and so people need to be
held accountable when it comes to things like this. So
I just want to say that because they're saying this
is something that will obviously benefit the people who are rich,
and as you can see what cuts the snap cuts
the medicaid, people that are struggling right now are going
to struggle even more.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
So just want to put that out there. But that
is your under the radar.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
Overnight things that are happening in our government, and we
do have the Way Up mix at the top of
the hour.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
It's also a Wealth Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
So important to also talk about the fact that starting
May fifth, those student loans you are accountable for that
that can affect everything when it comes to your credit score,
which we all know how devastating that can be to
get back on track when it comes to that.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
But you can get back on track.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
And so we do have a student loan counselor joining
us today, Natalie Jean Baptiste.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
She's going to help you out. It's way up, way up,
just like the talt like.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
They Angela Jean like they Angela Jean, and she's spilling
it all. This is YEATI way up.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Its way up at Angela yee And it's time for
your yee tea. Now let's talk about Little Dirk. Prosecutors
are claiming that Little Dirk has threatened witnesses and that
is because they were applying to his bid to dismiss
the case altogether. They said Little Dirk is not on
trial for his lyrics or his music. He's on trial
because he directed, orchestrated and financed the brazen murder plot
at issue in this case. Now, Little Dirk and his

(22:13):
legal team had argued that prosecutors should dismiss this case.
They said, these lyrics you guys are using as evidence.
They were recorded a few months before the shooting death
of Rondo's cousin Sebayah Robinson. And so last month, Dirk's
family also put out a statement about this being false
evidence and that this is just stories that he's telling.

(22:34):
Dirk's latest bond request has also been denied, So they're
saying that he also broke phone rules while incarcerated. It
shows a disrespect for the rules, and that is precisely
the courts concern. Now in good news, Spike Lee is
celebrating the ninety five percent and Rotten Tomatoes score for
his new movie Highest to Lois. He went on social

(22:54):
media to share a screenshot of that score. And it's
a crime thriller with Denzel Washington, with Jeffrey Wright, with
Asap Rocky I Spice all of them in it. It's
also based on the classic High and Low novel back
in nineteen sixty three. That movie comes out August twenty second.
Drusidora was on with Carlos King and she talked about

(23:16):
a lot of different things. She said that her husband,
Ralph wanted an open marriage and you know, cost her
a lot of pain.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
She also reveals that she did, at a point date
Michael B. Jordan. I dated Michael B. Jordan.

Speaker 8 (23:29):
I've never said that out loud. Well, he asked me
to be his date to the NAACP Awards. And this
is when he was on the soap opera he was on.
And yeah, like my sister Allison, he would come over
and she would cook for him and we went out
him and his mom.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
And you know, it was great.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
And she also talked about Porsche and said that basically
Porsia is using her for a storyline.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Here's what she said.

Speaker 8 (23:54):
I think that Borscha was brought here to give a
life a story that she wasn't able to deliver.

Speaker 2 (24:02):
That is the reason my name is.

Speaker 8 (24:03):
Brought up in every scene, every episode, every moment, even
in her confessionals.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
All right, well that is your yet, and when we
come back, we have asked yee eight hundred two ninety
two fifty one fifty any question you have, I'm here
to help you out this way up.

Speaker 4 (24:18):
Everybody since with its relationship for career advice, Angela's dropping
facts you should know.

Speaker 1 (24:24):
This is ask eee what's up?

Speaker 3 (24:26):
Its way up with Angela yee and it is time
for ask ye eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
We got Chai on the line. Hey, Chai, what's your
question for asking you?

Speaker 3 (24:37):
So?

Speaker 1 (24:38):
I have a friend we.

Speaker 6 (24:41):
I'm in love with her and I don't know how
to tell her.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
She's as Oh she's a minister. Does she know that
you like women? Yeah, she's okay. And do you get
a vibe that she likes you too?

Speaker 7 (24:54):
You know how it is with a female, like we
have to sit the print vibe.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
Sometimes she'll come and like she'll on the couch next to.

Speaker 4 (25:01):
Me, and she'll like put her head in my lap,
or she'll put her head on my shoulder, or.

Speaker 2 (25:05):
She'll be like, oh, let's go hang out or let's
go away somewhere, and then we'll wait.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
Well, she'll get like a king bed or something like that.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Okay, I'm not the double bed exactly, so you know,
I don't really know you know what to stay? I mean,
is she waiting anybody?

Speaker 8 (25:21):
No, No, she's not, and neither mine.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
And we got a weekend trip coming up to our state,
New York.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
This weekend.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
So I don't know how I'm gonna go I do.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
I mean, it's feeling like she's not with anybody.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
You're not.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
You guys are taking all these trips together.

Speaker 3 (25:39):
She's doing all these things, and she probably is torn
in her head too about what to do because she
knows your preferends.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
You know, are you bisexual? Are you lesbian?

Speaker 3 (25:50):
No, I'm let's okay, And she knows that, and so
I'm sure she knows there's a potential as y'all are
spending so much time together. I think the best thing
to do is throw like a little hint and see
if she catches it. Okay, Like, listen, if nothing else worked,
you know, we should be together. You could say little
things like that and then she's like, oh, I wouldn't
do that, And then you'll be like, okay, I guess

(26:11):
she wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Or she's like, girl, you crazy. Come in. Let me
put my hand on your lap. And you know, sometimes
you got to drop the little hints.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
Okay, I'm gonna see this, we kid.

Speaker 7 (26:22):
I'm not gonna make it awkward.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Though, but yeah, don't make it awk and make it
like a joke and let me ask you this would
you be willing to cause sometimes when things like this happen,
if it doesn't work out, you could lose the friendship.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
I don't think I'm my side. I don't know her side,
and yeah, you know we can't be my fia.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
I don't know has she ever been with a woman?
Have you all ever discussed that?

Speaker 4 (26:43):
I mean in college?

Speaker 2 (26:45):
Okay, so there you go. But yeah, just a little
hint I think is good.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
Just get it going that way, you could ease into
it and that way if she's like no, I wouldn't
do that or whatever, you can just keep it moving
and not have to.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
Bring it back up again.

Speaker 1 (26:59):
Okay, and appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
All right, Chai, good luck, thank you? All right?

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Well that was ask yee eight hundred two ninety two
fifty one fifty in case you couldn't get through. And
speaking of given advice, you know, it is a wealth Wednesday,
and we do have a student loan counselor joining us.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
She is an expert. She's also an attorney.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
We have Natalie Jean Baptiste and you know this whole
student loan payments they've started again May fifth, so you
might want to listen if you have some questions and
we got some solutions.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
It's way up, kind a dream of wealthy and I
don't mind sharing my wealth dog getting you straight financially,
mentally and physically.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
This is Wealth Wednesday on way Up with Angela ye.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Its way up with Angela yee, And it's a Wealth Wednesday,
my favorite day of the week.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
And Stacy tests here. Yes, indeed, of course you're here.

Speaker 9 (27:48):
A lot of pain out there for people who have
student loan debt, and we're going to give you a
lot of relief today with our guest Natalie Jean Baptiste,
who is a student loan debt attorney as an incredible story.
So you're on our side, yeah, yes, okay, And we
also have a tool for you, a free tool for
you all to use. But I know, Natalie, things got

(28:10):
a lot worse for people on May fifth. That's when
if your loan was in default, which a lot of
people didn't even know, the government could all of a
sudden start garnishing your wages. They could take your adulaescent,
Social Security, take your tax refund.

Speaker 7 (28:24):
What happened, so they were on pause for the last
five and a half years. So people have been in
this imaginary La La land where defaulted student loans have
no consequences. So now it's just suddenly back with a vengeance.
The Trump administration has decided that they're gonna start collecting

(28:45):
again and enforcing the involuntary collections. So people need to
figure out what's going on with their loan and there
are ways to get out of default and get back
on track right now.

Speaker 3 (28:59):
Well, Wednesday with my girl Stacy Tisdale, and we have
Natalie Jean Baptiste here with us. She is an expert
when it comes to student loans. I'm excited you're going
to have solutions because I think this sounds worrisome, but
the fact is that you have to take control of
your finances and not just feel like there's nothing you
can do about it when it comes to these student
loans exactly. And the last thing I want to say

(29:20):
is that it also affects your credit score.

Speaker 7 (29:22):
So they can go to studenta dot gov and see
the federal loans, see what the status of the loan is,
and find out who the servicer is so that they
can get in touch with the servicer to you know,
explore their options. So the first one is rehabilitation right.
So that involves making nine on time payments, right, and

(29:44):
even if your income is zero, your payment has to
be at least five dollars and you have to demonstrate
your ability and your willingness to make on time payments.

Speaker 9 (29:54):
But one of the reasons that we have you here
today is because we've created a free tool for our
Wealth Wednesday's audience and for everyone out there that helps
you analyze your loan, figure out your best options, gets
you the right forms you need, and helps with the paperwork.
So if you go to Teamwealth wednesdays dot com. Right
at the top, we have our Student Loan Center. We

(30:16):
partnered with Student Debt Solutions and they created this.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
It's so cool.

Speaker 9 (30:21):
It tells you everything about your student loans. And I
know a lot of people the issue is they fill
out the forms wrong.

Speaker 7 (30:26):
So you would log in and create an account and
put in your specific information. It will create an action
plan for you and give you a step by step
guide and compare the different repayment options depending on what
your goals are. So in like maybe fifteen minutes tops,

(30:47):
you will have a clear action plan.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
All right.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Natalie Jean Baptiste is here. She is a student loan counselor.
She's a lawyer and she also had her own issues
when it came to student loans, and she's going.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
To help you out. We got more with her when
we come back on this Wealth Wednesday.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
It's way up, kind a dream of wealthy and I
don't mind sharing my wealth dogs getting you straight financially,
mentally and physically.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
This is Wealth Wednesday on Way Up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
What's up? It's way up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
It's a Wealth Wednesday with Stacy Tisdale and we have
our special guest with us, Natalie Jean Baptiste.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
What's important is that student.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Loan borrowers are having all kinds of issues since May fifth,
that's when they started collecting defaulted student loans.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
But we have some solutions. Natalie. Let me ask you
what I know people want to know, all right, A
couple of things here.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
So let's say, you know how sometimes they say things
drop off your credit report after seven years or filed
for bankruptcy, and I don't have to pay this money
back when it comes to student loans.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
What's the rules on that?

Speaker 7 (31:46):
So even if for somehow you're able to work some
magic and get the loans off of your credit report.
It may boost score temporarily, but know that it's eventually
going to come back, and also you still owe the debt.
One thing about federal student loans that people may or
may not know is that there's no statute of limitation.

Speaker 3 (32:07):
They don't play Right now, it's a Wealth Wednesday with
my girls, Stacy Tisdale, and we have Natalie Jean Baptiste
here with us. She is an expert when it comes
to student loans.

Speaker 9 (32:16):
How did you become this attorney of student last?

Speaker 7 (32:19):
So this was definitely not the plan. When I went
to law school, I was struggling financially with my student
loan and other debt, and I was almost a decade
out of law school and I just said enough is enough,
and I decided I need to file for bankruptcy. So
I said, if I can just get rid of all
this other debt, then I can better manage the student

(32:42):
loans that I had been paying large payments about one
thousand dollars a month for almost a decade.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
That's wild, long story short.

Speaker 7 (32:50):
I taught myself bankruptcy law, and I stumbled upon a
rule called the undue hardship exception. So that means that
if you have a hardship, you can discharge your student
loan debt. And it was this hidden gem that no
one talked about. Right fast forward, I wiped out one
hundred and twenty thousand dollars of my student loans. So

(33:11):
after that, I was so inspired. I was like, I
want to do this for other people. So I opened
my own practice and this became my specialty. I reinvented
myself as a bankruptcy attorney.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Listen, how can people get in touch with you if
they want to learn more and follow your journey.

Speaker 7 (33:26):
I'm on social media all platforms at slave Student Loan debt.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
Yes, Slay Yes, Yes, Slay student London.

Speaker 7 (33:34):
Right if anyone lives in the five boroughs of New
York City. I represent low income New Yorkers through the
Legal Aid Society Great. So I am also on a
mission to get the word out to more legal aid
services throughout the country to because.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
The people who can't afford a lawyer are the.

Speaker 7 (33:52):
Ones who are eligible for a discharge of their student
loan through bankruptcy. Slay student loan debt is more like
education and empowerment and consulting student loan borrowers all over
the country and letting them know what their options are
and figuring out if bankruptcy is a good option for
them or if they can find another route to get

(34:14):
out of student loan debt.

Speaker 9 (34:15):
Everybody, go to Teamwealth wednesdays dot com and get this
free tool that will help you analyze your debt, give
you a plan, and help you get back on track
because we take controls, taking control and taking action.
