Speaker 1 (00:01):
And what I call him. Hey, you know it's way
up with Angela.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Yee.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
What day today? Wednesday?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
This?

Speaker 4 (00:16):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Hey Dan, Happy Wednesday. We are here. I'm going to
tell y'all something. Ray J just called. He is in town.
He was like, I'm about to pull up, but we
decided we'll do it tomorrow instead. So I feel like
we're going to see ray J sometime this week while
he's in town. It's very active out here in New
York City. I think I was at the New York

(00:38):
Liberty game last night. Ben Stilla was there, Jada Kiss
was there, my girl Wroxy Diaz was there. I mean
it was it was a fun night last night. But
we're going to talk about that and about last night.
Today is a Wealth Wednesday. I'm excited about this. Shana Rainford.
She is the founder and CEO of Basque and Lather,

(00:59):
and I definitely use their shampoo, their conditioner, their deepconditioner,
their edge control, their scalf oil, all of the things.
So I'm excited to talk to her about how her
business started in her background for Wealth Wednesday. But let's
start the show with some love and some positivity. Let's
shine a light. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one
fifty carll us up. Let us know who you want
to shine a light on his way up, I'm a shin.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
Turn your lights on, y'all, light saspreading love to those
who are doing greatness.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Shine a light on, shine a light on. It's time
to shine a light on them.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
All right a way, yup, put the antela yee. Time
to shine a light. And today we want to shine
a light on Fat Man's scoop. He is actually going
to be getting his own street and remembrance of all
that he's done for the music business and just as
a human being. So that street is going to be
on one hundred and ninth Street and Fifth Avenue in Harlem.

Speaker 6 (01:52):
That's happening on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
And then DJ mister C is also getting his own
street that's going to be in Brooklyn on class and
in Lafayette and that's happening on Sunday. So shout out
to both Batman's Group and Mister C. Shout out to
their families and in remembrance of them and that honor,
there's gonna be ceremonies for both of those, bringing together
people in the community. All right, now, baby boy, who
do you want to shine a light on.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I want to shine a light on my cousin, Todd
Jackson Man. He a actor. He you know, did some
shows like with Tyler Pear and he was on Sisters
and everything like that that. But he just did a
movie in the city called a Base. Its coming out
on the fourteen. You know what I'm saying. He featured
me in it and it's gonna be at the Regal
Cinema in Jacksonville, Flaida, I know that's right. You want
to shine a light on them, man. You know, God

(02:37):
working in mysterious ways, you know, and it's always bigger
than me as about us. So I just wanted to
call it in and shine a.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Light on call all right, But congratulations to both of you.
That's dope. The family got actors.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
In it, yes ma'am, Yes, ma'am. And shine a light
on you two. You know what it is, Man, tell
them the poop of me, baby bore nine oh four.
They gonna they gonna see me. Fill yur me.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Baby boy nine oh four. All right, Thank you for calling.
That was Shine a light eight hundred and two ninety
two fifty one fifty In case you want to shine
a light on somebody and didn't call us up right now,
you can always leave a message in China light for
last word and when we come back, we got to
your ye t man. The BET Awards and the Soul
Train Music Awards have been canceled. We'll tell you what

(03:17):
we know about both of those getting canceled.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Its way up, shure, she's about to blow the lead
about this spot.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Let's get it.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Oh yeah, angelus feeling that yet.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Come and get to see all right his way up
at the angela yee and it's time for your ye
t Let's get into this. The BET Awards, well, the
BT Hip Hop Awards and the Soul Train Awards have
been put on hold indefinitely, and people are wondering what
is going on with that. Well, their CEO spoke to
Billboard and said, it's less about them being no longer

(03:48):
and more about our team having to reimagine and reimagine
them for this changing media landscape that we find ourselves in.
I think what we're going to see are more people
taking franchises and saying this might have started on linear television,
but now I'm going to move it to another space.
Do I move it to streaming or do I move
it to another platform. So that's why they are suspending
the Hip Hop Award Show and the Soul Train Awards.

Speaker 6 (04:11):
Who are you surprised about this?

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Dan, I'm shocked. What about you?

Speaker 1 (04:15):
I was? But they did say that there was like
a fifty percent dip in viewership for the BT Awards,
and so you know, things like that matter, and I
just feel like, in the midst of all this isn't
the MTV Awards still happen the bmas and people were wondering,
like what.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
I agree with that too.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
I think award shows in general have been on the decline, especially.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
The both the same parent company.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
But I also agree with the reimagining how you view
things too.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
I agree with that.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
People aren't like sitting down watching these long form shows.
Maybe there's a different way that people can get their accolades,
because I do think accolades are important, and.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
We've been in the last five years covering the show
to shame.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Listen, now, let's talk about Little the Drought. That series
is now available on streaming. That's on Apple Music The Drought.
The Drought two, and The Drought three are now available.
That's the first time ever that they've been on streaming platforms,
and ahead of that release, you know, well.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
The car to six, I mean, that's okay, we can
go back and enjoy the Drought three. I'm obsessed with
that for you.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I know you came in here very excited about it.

Speaker 6 (05:25):
I said, been listening to one of my favorite songs
of it.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
And j Loo has reportedly been struggling with her Vegas
residency ticket sales. Let's not forget that she had to
cancel her tour because of soft ticket sales, and now
she's doing this Vegas residency and that too is a
slow demand. I feel like if the North American shows
had to get canceled, it's hard to imagine that people
will be coming in Vegas and making that a go too.

(05:50):
So maybe there's some things that have to be reimagined there.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
But then again, the Vegas residencies are like the retirement
home for a lot.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Of I feel like that's changed over the time. Yeah,
I do, Usher, I don't think that was a retirement
you know, for Usher, and wasn't Mariah. Isn't Mariah doing
I don't think she's in that space either. A new
addition did a residency and there even ounced another tour
you know, I just I don't necessarily think that to
be to Adele, you know, so so yes, but because

(06:20):
a lot of people end up going to Vegas. But
I also want to say they've been talking as well
about how Vegas in general hotels have been having a
really difficult time, so it kind of feel like people
aren't going there as much, which is going to affect
ticket sales too. All right, well that is your Yet
when we come back, we have about last night where
we discussed what we did last night. You all already
know I was at the New York Liberty game and

(06:41):
what a game that was. I'm gonna tell you all
about it.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
It's way up, so about last night. Yes, I went down.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
All right, his way up with Angela. Ye, and it's
time for about last night. And I just want to
say I was at the New York Liberty versus a
Dallas Wings game last night. It was amazing. The New
York Liberty won eighty five to seventy six. And I
want to say, in the first quarter they started off
really strong. I was feeling good. But then the Dallas
actually crept up and we did lose to them, you know,

(07:11):
the week before, So it was a little nervous, and
I was like, what's going on here? And Brianna Stewart
wasn't playing, so that's also always an issue. A lot
of people came to see Page Beckers, though, and that
was huge. I think that's her first time playing in
New York. Yeah, so that was a big deal. But
we won ultimately eighty five seventy six, and I got
a chance to sit with Ellie the mascot. Yeah, Ellie.

(07:35):
Who doesn't know Ellie now Ellie. I feel like Ellie
is just Ellie. We know who she is. Now she's
the elephant. She is like the best mascot. Somebody was
telling me she's the highest paid mascot. Cool, which she
deserves to because she begin in the most appearances out
of anybody I know. But you know, shout out to
our New York Liberty, shout out to Sabrina Yanesco, John
Quell Jones. I mean, it was an amazing game. We

(07:55):
got a lot of new players on our team too,
so it was a lot of people me seeing them
played for the first time because this actually has been
my first in person game this season, which is something
that I have to change in the near future. But yes,
That's what I did last night. And what was really
fun was it was a packed, sold out game. Ben
Stiller was there, my girl Roxy Diaz was there. Jadakiss

(08:17):
was there. So when I tell you, it was like
a lot of high energy. I like to see how
everyone is coming out to the games. You know, have
you been to one?

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Dan?

Speaker 4 (08:27):
I haven't. It's definitely good for the sport, though.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
When I tell you it's so much fun, I tell
people like the energy. Somebody was telling me this was
their first time. I'm trying to remember who it was
while I was there coming to a game, and they
were like, this is amazing, Like this is really fun.
So you know, and thank you to Ellie for sitting
with me and watching the game with me, and you know,
we had a good time. But that's what I did
last night. Now you know what we're about to do.

(08:51):
I want to know what you did last night. I
want to know what you did last summer. I want
to know what you did ten years ago that you've
never told anybody about. Remember, this is is a no
judgment zone and it's time for tell us a secret.
We do still want you to tell us something interesting
and go viral, though, right that's always the goal. But
eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. Remember this
is a no judgment zone. This is a space for

(09:12):
you to tell us a secret, something that you've never
told anybody else, something that maybe you might be a
little ashamed of. But it's okay. We're gonna put it
out there. Let it get out in the universe and dissipate.
Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. Call us
up and tell us a secret. It's way up, yo.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
This is a judgment free zone. Tell us a secret.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
What's up as way up at angela yee, and it
is time for tell us a secret. This is where
we get to hear you tell us things that you
may have never told anybody before. But it is a
judgment free zone. And you are anonymous. Eight hundred two
ninety two fifty one fifty anonymous caller, tell us your secret.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
You are a grad dated someone I used to work
with and then we.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Ended up doing his just friends, and then I met
his dad.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
He introduced me to his dad, and the man his
dad hurts up.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
Okay, Zadi first.

Speaker 7 (10:00):
Falls with us.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
But I think I'm at the age where I can
date that age in his father's age. You look at
that in between stage.

Speaker 8 (10:09):
I'm in the in between stage.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yes, So how was things with the dad? I would
have preferred to stay with her friend? Man, what happened?

Speaker 6 (10:18):
That father wasn't good?

Speaker 2 (10:19):
And bad?

Speaker 6 (10:20):
Low?

Speaker 9 (10:20):
Their father wasn't much much better?

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Did the dad have to like pop pills and stuff
like bag run?

Speaker 6 (10:26):
Well he probably should have, but he didn't.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
Oh man, he couldn't get all right? Did this son known?
What did he say? Was he mad?

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Now? He wasn't mad. We're still friends to this day.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
You could have been his mom. I know I could
still be his mom joking that a good dregs?

Speaker 4 (10:46):
All right?

Speaker 2 (10:46):
You too?

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Hey, and I'm as color.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
How are you hi?

Speaker 1 (10:51):
What's up? Says? You want to tell us a secret?

Speaker 9 (10:54):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (10:55):
I was just calling to say when I was in
the eighth grade, I used to talk to my math teacher.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
You used to touch your a Matt teacher while you
were in the eighth grade. Yes, he is disgusting. Wow,
how did this even?

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Like?

Speaker 1 (11:08):
How did this happen?

Speaker 2 (11:09):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (11:10):
He was like one of those speaks to her like
all the girls like sitting home.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
And it was the one time I had one.

Speaker 8 (11:14):
Into his flash and I got him just a friend,
and we was talking to ever since then.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
He was spending money on.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
Me at everything.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
Did your parents ever find out?

Speaker 10 (11:24):
No?

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Did you ever tell any of your friends?

Speaker 8 (11:27):
Yeah? I think I put a couple of my friends.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Did you think it was wrong? And now that you
look back at it, what are your thoughts?

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (11:34):
I do think it was wrong, and you know somebody
like that. He probably was doing this with other girls too, probably. Yeah.
So do you feel like it's had like an effect
on you in life, just that that happened to you
when you were in eighth grade?

Speaker 10 (11:47):
No, well he has an effect on me.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
All right. Well, thank you for sharing with us. And
I just want to say, yeah, my sister, he is disgusting.

Speaker 8 (11:56):
Okay, all right, take care, Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 6 (12:00):
Her name is Mary McCall.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
I love her so much.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
She is such a question. All right, Well, shout out
to Mary McCall. We're gonna find this math teacher now
and put them behind bars. Okay, all right, thank you.
Well that was tell us a secret eight hundred and
two nine two fifty one fifty. If you couldn't get through,
you could always leave a message and tell us a secret.
The lines are always open to hear from you. And
when we come back, we got your y e T.

(12:23):
Let's talk about Eve. She was recently on with Fat
Joe and Jada. Kiss on Joe and Jada, and we'll
tell you a lot of things that she has to say,
some of the female rappers who she has shouted out,
and why she is still always touring.

Speaker 6 (12:35):
It's way up, this says the.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
Rooms from industry shade to all of gossip out send
Angela's feeling that EyeT.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
It's way up with Angela yee and it's time for
your ee T. Now let's get into some things right away.
Eve has been doing her press run and she went
on with Joe and Jada and one of the things
that she talked about is the fact that she is
still doing shows even though financially does she really need to.
Here's what she said, Why does rich girls on this

(13:05):
because I like money work. That's the problem.

Speaker 9 (13:07):
I feel like I got with the perception of my
life that I married this person. Like, first of all,
nobody ever saved me. I saved my finish.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
I get my own money. Like if I want to stop.

Speaker 6 (13:18):
Working, my man wouldn't care. But why would I do
something I don't that.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
I love like why.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
I know she's annoy that people keep saying that her
husband's a billionaire no matter what. And I appreciate that
she's got a skill, she's got a talent, and she
still wants to work, So I applaud that.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
Now.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Another thing that she talked about was female rappers who
she feel like has sustainability. Today here's what she said,
You think you sustainability's question.

Speaker 6 (13:46):
Yes, that's a very good work.

Speaker 9 (13:47):
I think some of them.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
I agree.

Speaker 9 (13:49):
I think don't you'll be there. I think Party has
made her way. I think Globe will be here.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
I think go Mix go have a nice legacy.

Speaker 6 (13:56):
Yeah there's something I don't think.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
All right, so you can check out that foot and
if you came out yesterday. And speaking of rappers, female
rappers with sustainability, Lotto is celebrating one year anniversary of
Sugar Honey Iced tea album. She has a collab now
with Apple Bottom Jeans. Only makes sense. I actually just
got some Apple Bottom gear too. When Nelly was up here,
he relaunched the brand, so you know, shout out to

(14:20):
him for that, and shout out to Latto.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Now.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
According to the Donald Trump, Ditty's attorney has to reached
out trying to get that presidential pardon ahead of his sentencing,
and one of Ditty's attorneys has said their team has
approached the administration for a parton with less than two
months ago before his sentencing. They told CNN they've had
these conversations in reference to that. As you know, Diddy

(14:46):
was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
He was acquitted on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
Do we have the audio of what Trump had to say,
But let's not forget that. Ditty has had some criticis
Donald Trump? And y'all know you don't like that. So
here is what was said about that potential pardon.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
I was very friendly with him.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
I got along with him great, but when I ran
for office, he was very hostile. And we don't like
to have things cloud our judgment, right, I'm being honest.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
It makes it more difficult to do more likely A
no for Combs?

Speaker 4 (15:20):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Is that like because somebody didn't like you when you
were running for office and likely to I don't what
do you think, Dan? I mean, we know how this,
we know how this president.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
Is Yeah, you know who you're dealing.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
With to talk about him, he's going to be petty. Yeah, yeah,
so you already know what it is, right, so we
shall see all right. And lastly, Howard Stern, his Serious
Extempt show is in jeopardy. His five hundred million dollar
contract is actually going to be up soon. It's near
its end, and Sirius is planning to make an offer.

(15:54):
According to an insider, that's what they told the US
Sun on Tuesday. But they don't intend for him to
make that offer. They said Serious and Stern are never
going to meet on the money he's going to want.
It's no longer worth the investments. And they said that Sirious, however,
is planning to bargain for Howard Stern's library so that
they continue can continue to go ahead, and I'm broadcast that,

(16:15):
but they cannot keep paying him his salary, I mean
five hundred million dollars. I worked as Serious when Howard
Stern actually came over there. I remember the day that
he started. We were right down the hall, and I
remember nobody got raises that year except for two people.
You know, I was one of them. But they weren't
doing that because that's what the budget was for Howard Stern.
All right, well that is your ut when we come

(16:37):
back under the radar. These are the stories that are
flying under the radar. But you need to know about
him right now. Here's a duo you likely won't see
anytime soon again, Rihanna and Drake. What's money.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Take the news.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
News.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
It's way up at Angela yea, and it's time for
your under the radar stories. And a lot of this
is about Donald Trump today. So Donald Trump posted on
his truth social page that crime in Washington, DC is
totally out of control. Local youths and gang members, some
only fourteen, fifteen, and sixteen, are randomly attacking, mugging, maiming,
and shooting innocent citizens at the same time knowing that

(17:16):
they will be almost immediately released. So his solution is
he wants to lock them up for a long time,
starting at age fourteen. And he said the most recent
victim was beaten mercilessly by local thugs, and so that
is his goal right now. He wants to take control
of DC and lock up minors as adults starting at

(17:36):
age fourteen. Another thing that he did was an executive
order today where he has actually hiked India's tariffs another
twenty five percent, so that stacks on the twenty five
percent tariffs they already have, so now it's fifty percent tariffs.
And he's upset because, according to Donald Trump, he said,
I find that the government of India is currently directly
or indirectly importing Russian Federation oil, and due to those purchases,

(18:01):
imports of Indian goods into the US shall be subject
to an additional rate of duty of twenty five percent.
That would be among the highest of any training partner
in the world. The only countries with tariffs as high
as that is actually going to be Brazil at fifty percent,
and then Syria follows that at forty one percent. He
also told CNBC that India has not been a good
trading partner because they do a lot of business with US,

(18:23):
but we don't do business with them, and that's why
they had initially settled on that twenty five percent tariff. Now,
another thing that Donald Trump said on CNBC was that
undocumented farm workers are naturally designed for filled work. And
he also said that inner city, which I guess is
always cod word for black people don't want to do

(18:45):
these farming jobs. Here's what he said.

Speaker 11 (18:47):
We're sending them back and then they're schooling, they're learning,
they're coming in, they're coming in legally.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
We have a lot of that going on.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
But we're taking care of our farmers.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
We can't let our farmers not have anybody.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
You can't replace them very easily.

Speaker 3 (19:01):
You know, people that live in the inner city are
not doing that work.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
These people do it naturally.

Speaker 8 (19:06):
I said to a farmer the other day, what happens
if they get a bad back?

Speaker 1 (19:10):
He said, they don't get a bad back, sir, because
if they get a bad back, they die. It goes
on to say, in many ways, they're very very special people.
This is insane, these things that are being said and happening.
Does he really think that that's what immigrant farm workers
are coming here to do, to work in the field

(19:30):
all day and due to jobs that nobody wants to do,
and they don't get bad backs because they'll die. This
just sounds so ridiculous. But just keeping you'll updated on
what's going on with this administration, and that is you're
under the radar. We do have the way up mix
at the top of the hour and today's a Wealth Wednesday.
So on the bright side of things, we have Shana
rain for joining us. She is the founder and CEO

(19:50):
of Basque and Lather and this is a haircare company
that is doing amazing things. You're going to be absolutely
fascinated by her story and how she's gotten to the
position that she he has. It's way up at Angela ye,
Happy Wealth Wednesday. She's like a talk like they Angela
Jean like they Angelie Jean Man.

Speaker 3 (20:08):
She's spilling it all. This is yeeky way up.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
All right, it's way up at Angela Yee. I'm here
on a Wednesday, and let's get right into it. First
of all, johnsen I recently told people that his hair
transplant changed the course of his life. He said, you know,
the doctor simply moved his hair one by one from
one area to another, but it has opened up a
whole new world of opportunities for him. He said he's

(20:35):
actually gotten more acting gigs because of that new hairdoo.
But it does take a lot of work to maintain.
He said. He has a daily routine that includes red
light therapy, vitamin shampoo, conditioner, all of these different things.
But he said, I hate the fact. If there wasn't
so much shame around it, I'd have gotten it done
Ten years ago. I thought I was alone, but seven
or eight out of ten men suffered from thinning or baldness,
and so he just wishes he would have done it earlier.

(20:58):
It's interesting. I always tell y'all, man and his hair
is a man's BBL. And so for a lot of guys,
that hairline does make a big difference. And they've done
so much when it comes to hair transplants. All right, now,
let's talk about offset. He recently was on the Joe
Button podcast and he talked about a lot of different things.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
You know.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
He talked about the song outside being a dis song, Adam,
He said he heard it before it was out, but
he would never do a dis song back to Cardi B.
And in addition to that, he talked about, just in
broad terms, his breakup and his thoughts on him and
Cardi B not being together anymore. He spoke about it
in general. Here's what he said, if someone.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
Down, up or down, which one hurts more? That was
hard to be my truite. I ain't never met none
that I left went up, so I don't know how
to expand.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
So in other words, he's saying that nobody's ever broken
up with him and done better after that. In addition
to that, he talked about co parenting, and here's what
he had to say, how do you say.

Speaker 11 (22:03):
Not publicly or not online in co parenting? Yo, you
are wilding out right now. But as a co parent
on some we're just parents. Public you don't. It's public
you don't. It's a different ball game. It's saying I'm
not a regular sitisen walking around as you don't.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
No, not publicly. I'm not doing none of that. I'm
not saying none of that privately, no, privably no.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (22:24):
At the end of the day, you have to respect
game at end of the day, Bro, That's not what
like defines life.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
All right, budd. He did admit to being a human
being and said that there's times that he does do
things because he's just human and so it is what
it is, all right now. Daniel Caluya is going to
be co writing Spider Punk, which is an animated movie.
He was the voice actor for the character in the
twenty twenty three film Spider Man Across the Spider Verse.
But now two years after that, according to Deadline, he's

(22:53):
going to be co writing a spider punk project along
with the screenwriter Ajon Singh and the Synapsis has not
yet and revealed another thing that's out right now. When
you have a chance to go, take a look at it.
The official trailer for the horror film Him, starring Marlon
Wayams is now available, so guys, make sure y'all check
that out. That's directed by Justin Tipping and produced by

(23:14):
Jordan Peel. It's about a college quarterback taken into a
dark and twisted world by his idol that's played by
Marlon Walliams, testing how far he'll go and what he'll
sacrifice for game. Sounds good to me. All right, well
that is your yet when we come back, ask ye.
I know y'all got some questions, and we definitely got
some answers. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty.

(23:35):
Any question you have, I'm here to help you out again.
That's eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. Whether
it's about relationships, business, friendships, work, whatever it is, call
us up. Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.

Speaker 5 (23:47):
Whether it's relationship for career advice, Angelo's dropping facts.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Should this is ask gee?

Speaker 1 (23:53):
What's up? His way up with Angela? Yee, Happy Wednesday.
It's time for ask ye Today we have Bryden on
the line. Eight hundred nine two fifty one fifty Was
that Brandon? Hey?

Speaker 8 (24:04):
I just had a question for y'all. Okay, So I
had a friendship that I did some stuff I did
not want to talk about, but they stopped being more
friends because of that situation. I apologized, But then after
before I apologized, I was mad and I posted some
stuff on the internet about them, and I took it
off and I apologized. Is there anything I should do next,

(24:27):
like to see if I can if they want to
get back or something like that.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Okay, so you did something to them that you shouldn't
have done in the first place. Yeah, and then doubled
down and posted about it online. Yeah, what kind of thing?
I know you said you didn't want to necessarily say,
but like, give me some type of idea.

Speaker 8 (24:44):
It was something that I said to her.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Okay, so it was to a woman, but it was
just a friend. Yeah, and what made you even do that?

Speaker 8 (24:53):
I have compulsive disorders, so it was like compulsively. I
had to say it.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Sometimes we do think and we cannot help how somebody's
going to react to it. So if you did something
that you know was wrong that could potentially damage a
friendship or relationship permanently, then that is that person's right.
And all you can do is apologize and acknowledge, like
you said, you've done, what it is that you've done.

(25:18):
If you've publicly said some things, then you need to
publicly make sure you acknowledge that you were wrong, because
I do think when you post something or say something
publicly to somebody and it's damaging, then the apology that
you've given should also be done publicly and post it
in that same place and explain you know what it
is that made you act that way, whatever it is

(25:40):
that you need to do. And the only other thing
I can say is don't harass a person. But if
you want to ask her if there's anything that I
can do, please let me know. If you would rather
just leave you alone, I guess I'll just have to
live with that. Sometimes people do need time, and you
have to give them time and space to get over things,
and sometimes they just won't get over it. To lesson,
learn for you.

Speaker 8 (26:01):
Okay, that makes sense.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
The thing about making a mistake is that you want
to learn from it and hopefully grow from but also
hopefully manage to get this friendship back on track. Maybe
it'll never be the same, or maybe it can be stronger,
because sometimes we mess up and when that happens, it
opens the floodgates of people understanding each other more. And
that would be the best case scenario for you, but
I cannot guarantee that's what's going to happen. Okay, do

(26:26):
you have other friends that can also intervene and maybe
medi eight?

Speaker 8 (26:30):
No about she is my best friend. We were restaurants
for like five years, since first grade.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Okay, probably more. I was like, yeah, you're not in
sixth grade now.

Speaker 8 (26:39):
Yeah, I mean I'm going I'm in seventh, going into eighth.

Speaker 6 (26:43):
Oh okay, so you're really young.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Oh good luck, braidon you too.

Speaker 8 (26:46):
Thank you?

Speaker 1 (26:47):
All right? Well eight hundred and two nine two fifty
one fifty I guess kids, you're welcome to call in
too for ask you. But when we come back, it
is a wealth Wednesday. So we do have Shana rainfor
joining us, the CEO and founder of Basque and Lather
She's got an incredible story and an incredible product, so
we'll be talking to her. It's way up.

Speaker 10 (27:06):
I had a dream of wealthy and I don't mind
sharing my wealth dogs getting you straight financially, mentally, and physically.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
This is Wealth Wednesday on Way Up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
What's up? It's way up with Angela Yee, and I
mean way up. And I'm excited for this because this
is somebody who is for real way up. Shanna Rainford
is here. She is the CEO of basket Lather. These
are the products. I actually took these products with me
when I went on vacation with my friends Paul and
so everybody had to borrow, like, you know, shampoo and
conditioner from me because nobody else brought theirs, but you

(27:37):
know I had to and they loved it all. Welcome
to the show. Thank you for having me, and I
also before we even get started, want to thank you
for your partnership with Way Up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 6 (27:47):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
Angela y Day is coming up and we were just
talking behind the scenes on what basket Lather will be
doing at Angela Ye Day.

Speaker 7 (27:53):
So Angela You Day is all about the community and
basket latter is also all about the community, so we
will be on site giving away haircare products and book bags,
getting the kids ready for back to school. And the
book bags will have the edge control that the kids
neath that way they go to school and come home
look in the same way. We'll have luck, a little conditioner,
deep conditioner, and we have book bags for boys for girls,

(28:15):
different colors.

Speaker 6 (28:16):
So we're excited.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Right now, I'm talking to Shana Rainford. She is the
CEO and founder of bask and Leather, which is a
shampoo and conditioner and all kinds of haircare products that
I use. Let's talk about your history and your background
and how you even got to where you are, because
I think people need to also understand that this whole company,
Basket in Leather, was something that happened organically for you.

(28:39):
So just talk about what young Shana went through to
even lead you to come up with this product, because
a lot of times there's home remedies that we have
and that is actually something that later in life feel
like this could be a business.

Speaker 7 (28:50):
Yes, So a few years ago, my younger sister Leo
lost all of her hair. She had a really bad
ing worm that spread all across her scalp, and initially
it looked just like dandruffs, so that's what she was
diagnosed with. And by the time she got a proper diagnosis,
she lost so much hair that she had a big
crop circle.

Speaker 6 (29:05):
She only had hair around the circumference of her hair. Dang, yep.

Speaker 7 (29:08):
And my mom was really desperate to regrow her hair,
and she took her to all different types of specialists
and they did scalp analysis and they said, we don't
know that her hair is ever going to grow back.
So my mom did research about natural efficacious ingredients for
hair growth, whipped up a concoction in the kitchen, which
is our scalp stimulator oil, and then her hair started
to grow back.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
That's amazing, but it was growing fine and thin.

Speaker 7 (29:29):
So she did more research, like, okay, what can I
used to thicken her hair, and she came across she
making black castor oil, and so she created our hair
Elixir and that helped her hair to grow in faster
and thicker. And now her hair is all the way
down in her bottom and she has four seat hair.
I know that's right, yes, but that's not even the
reason we started the company. So now fast forward to
the pandemic. I'm working as a nurse practitioner. I acquired COVID,

(29:51):
became so sick. I was twenty seven on the back
of an ambulance on a nami breather, asking God.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
To let me live to raise my children. I recovered
and then a few weeks later or my hair started
to shed and break. It was horrible.

Speaker 7 (30:03):
So my mom made me the oils and I started
using them and my hair reverted back to normal. And
I said, we have to share these products with the world,
and that's what we did.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Shanna Rainford is here. We have more with her when
we come back. She's the CEO of Basket and Leather,
and oddly enough, she is not in any of the
major retailers. When we come back, we'll talk about why
it's way up.

Speaker 10 (30:22):
I had a dream of pital wealthy and I don't
mind sharing my wealth dogs getting you straight financially, mentally
and physically.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
This is Wealth Wednesday on Way Up with Angela Yee.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
What's up? Its Way up with Angela Yee. Happy Wealth Wednesday.
We got Shanna Rainford here with us. She's the CEO
of Basque and Leather. When you think about how you
want this business to grow, right, And when you think
about getting to the point where it's like, are you
doing this forever, it's it's going to be handed down
from generation to generation. I've always been taught that you
build a company in case one day you want to
sell it, or like you would sell it, because that's

(30:53):
how you want to build it, regardless of what your
plan is. Do you have a bigger plan?

Speaker 2 (30:57):
I do.

Speaker 7 (30:57):
Sometimes founders don't so because they want to. It's because
they're forced. We are very profitable and successful online. We
purposefully have not gone into retail because when you go
into retail right, retailers will order a million dollars worth
of product.

Speaker 6 (31:11):
You don't get your money for two to three months,
and then if you don't sell through, they will return
it back to you.

Speaker 7 (31:16):
And that's inventory and things that you could have sold online,
and now you have inventory that's aging at their mercy.
They also have significant fees, product placement fees to be
on the shelf, distribution.

Speaker 6 (31:26):
Their promotion fees.

Speaker 7 (31:28):
So for us, we're like, okay, we spent our first
five years in business accumulating cash and being profitable and
understanding our business and our consumer and strengthening our supply
chain right. For example, this year we grew one thousand
percent year over year compared to last year. So when
you go into retail, it looks glamorous, it looks great,
but you need to be fully prepared.

Speaker 6 (31:49):
You need to know what you're doing.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
People have to understand also because I've seen businesses actually
go bust because they got into retail and that was
really like the biggest mistake that made exactly right. Now,
I'm talking to Shannon Rainford. She is the CEO and
founder of bask and Leather, which is a shampoo and
conditioner and all kinds of haircare products that I use.

(32:11):
Can you explain how TikTok has been really vital for
the growth of basket Ladder.

Speaker 6 (32:15):
Absolutely so. We were early adopters of TikTok shop.

Speaker 7 (32:19):
We have video after video after video organically with no
paid dollars behind it, go viral, blew us up.

Speaker 6 (32:25):
We have three best sellers on TikTok.

Speaker 7 (32:26):
Our Edge Control is the number one styling job in
the country now they on TikTok, but all platforms. Because
of TikTok, we have the number one unhair growth throughs
sold on TikTok and the number one scalping hair Bomb,
And I just love the platform.

Speaker 6 (32:39):
I love what it's doing for businesses.

Speaker 7 (32:41):
For us, it's got us in front of audiences that
no other platform would allow us to get in front
of for free.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
You know, your products have been absolutely amazing. It's all
I use now. Thank you, so I appreciate that. Are
there plans for expansion of the line to other products
that you're going to be introducing, because that's another thing,
like how do you know when it's time to add more.

Speaker 6 (32:59):
Products to the We create what the customers ask for.

Speaker 7 (33:02):
So every single product in our line now is complimentary
and customers have asked for it. And now next year
we have about three products coming out. They're all about
strengthening your hair, healthy scalp scalp first products.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Well, I appreciate you so much and thank you and
just amazing. Your story is just incredible and that's what
Way Up is all about, to highlighting these incredible stories
and your success is well deserved and I'd love to
see it. Thank you. You can what'ch that phot interview
with Shanna Rainford, CEO Basket and Leather on my YouTube
channel Way Up with ye and when we come back,
you guys have the last word.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
We pick up the phone, tapying to get your voice heard.
What the word is is the last word on Way

more announcements for y'all tomorrow about Angela y Day. Y'all
know it's always free and always for the community, so

(34:26):
get ready for that. All right, again, this is your show,
So you have the last word.

Speaker 10 (34:33):
Something that I never.

Speaker 8 (34:34):
Confess to is a my age here for accusing me
of cheetah.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
So I says, you know what, Yeah, I did it.

Speaker 8 (34:45):
I just wanted to say hello, and I love everything
that you do.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
It's so positive.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
It really shines a light to a lot of women
like myself.

Speaker 3 (34:55):
Just to get motivated in doing things every.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Day again, I just want to to say thank you.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Keep doing what you're doing, Talk to you later.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Tournay up angela Ye is way up.
