Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, hey, oh, put my mic on, turn my mic up.
It's way up with Angela. Ye, I'm here, Jasmine brand
is here on my own brand, remember her, guys. Okay,
all right, I'm just saying, don't act like I've been
going that. You used to come here a couple of
years ago. Now she's back. Good to have you. I'm
back in rotation, baby, back in rotation, baby. What day today? Tuesday? Man, Listen,

(00:23):
I've been having some some fun weekends and Angela You
Day is coming up on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
I cannot wait.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
So this is already like the prequel when everybody starts
coming into yeah, getting ready for you Day. But we're
gonna start the show with some love and some positivity.
Let's shine a light. We still do that. I know
you haven't been here, okay, but we still start the
show with loving positivity, shining a light. Eight hundred nine
two fifty one fifty. Call us up. Let us know

(00:50):
who you want to shine a light on. That's eight
hundred nine two fifty one fifty. It's way up. Here's
some Nicki Minaj.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Turn your lights on, y'all breading love to those who
are doing greatness.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Shine the light on, Shine the light on.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
It's time to shine a light on them.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
It's way yup by Angela Yee, I'm here, Jasmine brand
is here.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
I'm not just I'm my own brand.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
And today we are shining a light on Vic Blend,
who has just opened up Vic Blend's Academy, the first
barber school ever inside of a California state prison. Oh yes, now.
He posted about the journey. He said, four years ago,
I got a call from Scott Budnick telling me there
are some juvenile kids that watch my videos and to
come meet them with no hesitation. I made a trip

(01:35):
to la and when we visited the prison, we learned
that in over one hundred and seventy two years of incarceration,
there has never been a barber school to get the
guys inside their license while incarcerated. He said that if
it was something I wanted to change, he would walk
with me every step of the way. So now it's open.
I love that and that's a skill that you can
really use.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
And make money for him too once you get out.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Listen, let me tell y'all up here and in general,
y'all these guys in their barbers boy.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
It's there's relationship.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
More loyal to their barbers than they are to their
women sometimes. Okay, so shout out to him. The school
has opened its doors, and like I said, it's called
Vic Blen's Academy. Vic Blens has twenty five million followers
across social media. He also has his own talk show
series called Deep Cut and he's even cut like President
Barack Obama, Tom Brady, Little Baby, and many others. And

(02:24):
he was named to the Forbes thirty Under thirty list
in twenty twenty two. Now, bugge, who do you want
to shine a light on?

Speaker 5 (02:30):
Well, first of all, for you and your whole staff.
I listen to you every morning.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
We God bless you'll, thank you. We got a small
but mighty staff. We appreciate that.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
I want to shot light on through my little baby
named Arianna. I been a girl paying for fourteen years.
You finally cracked that air.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
You know who? Okay, congratulations a little girl. It's so different, right,
having a little girl.

Speaker 5 (02:52):
Well, she's a blessing and the stuff.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Well, thank you for calling.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
Yeah much Ben going to pra having and shooting crun
heights man.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Oh yeah, my condolences. That was wild to see that
happen and I'm glad you said that, because I do
want to make sure we send all of our love.
Three people were killed at this uh. I guess it's
like a lounge club in Crown Heights in Brooklyn. Thank
you for calling.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
All right, good dat have a good date.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
I never heard somebody describe getting someone pregnant as cracking
a egg. Me neither crack that egg. All right, Well
that was shining to light eight hundred two nine fifty
one fifty. If you couldn't get through, call up, leave
a message, or you can click that microphone on the
iHeartRadio app. And when we come back here ye eat
now gost face killer. He is talking about Diddy blocking

(03:38):
Wu Tang from the radio back in nineteen ninety seven.
I want to tell you I remember when this happened.
We'll discuss its way up.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
This says the rooms from industry shade to all the
gossip out send Angela's feeling that.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
EyeT, it's way up at Angela.

Speaker 6 (03:54):
Yee.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
I'm here, Jasmine Brand is here.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
I'm not just Ninny Brand, I'm my own.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Yes, you ready for some I'm ready?

Speaker 1 (04:01):
All right, let's talk about Wu Tang as y'all know
that was my first job in music business. And recently,
ghost Face, who has a new album coming out on Friday,
did an interview on the Bootleg Cap podcast and he
talked about Diddy blocking the Wu Tang from getting radio play.
Here's what he said. It just wasn't the saying no more,
they stopped playing our records.

Speaker 5 (04:20):
I had to talk to what you McCall it?

Speaker 4 (04:22):
Why they stop playing your records?

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Because I cursed him out?

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Did Puff to Rizza?

Speaker 6 (04:26):
Had Puff admitted to saying that he stopped out Lakers
up there?

Speaker 2 (04:30):
That's crazy.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
I will say this, I don't know if Puff had
to stop their records, why you say that? Because they
were gonna He cursed out the whole staff at the station.
And so this particular night, and it's interesting because recently
I interviewed Cappa, Donna and Mathematics, who was Wu Tang's DJ. Yes,
so that night that was the big Summer Jam concert.
Math actually was talking about what happened that night because

(04:54):
that was my first day working for Wu Tang. And
here is actually what they had to say say about
that night that caused Woutan to be banned for sixteen years.
Wow from the radio sound was horrible and then it
was but I heard Kristin clairet ninety seven. I heard that,
I who said that? Who said that?

Speaker 7 (05:14):
Who said that?

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah? Yeah, and then they got banned after that and
that band hurt. Yes it did. Is they got.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
Banned ten years before we went up there. Man Ghost
went up there and apologized.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
To the lady.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
That's a long time.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Yeah, sixteen years is how long they ended up getting
banned from. And it wasn't just that station, it was
all their other like affiliated stations. And so imagine getting
banned from the radio where you're from. But that was,
when I tell you, probably one of the funniest nights
of my life.

Speaker 7 (05:46):
So you have.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
Happening, Angelia. You have some stories working in this industry.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, I definitely got some stories on me all right now.
Another person who got iced out recently is Cheryl Hines.
If you watch Curb Your Enthusiasm, you know that was
Larry David's ex wife on the show.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Love that show.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
Right. Well, apparently, according to reports, she's being iced out
of Larry David's new project on HBO. It's being produced
by Baraka Michelle Obama's production company. But you know, she
said Trump supporter. She's also married to rap It Up
Kennedy Junior. And so this new comedy series is marking
the America's two hundred and fiftieth anniversary, and it includes

(06:23):
many of the stars from Curb Your Enthusiasm, But they're
saying that Cheryl Hines will not be part of that.
The Obamas are opposed to her involvement. According to Radar Online.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
I do not blame them.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Yeah, sorry, They said anybody politically connected to Trump, who
they despised, should not have a role in any of
their lucrative media projects.

Speaker 8 (06:42):
So because we don't have the same molds on principles,
so I can't work with you, I understand.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
And in that situation, you can't pick and choose.

Speaker 7 (06:48):
Yep, you know.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
And we don't want you to hear this. It is
what it is, all right, Well that is your Yet
when we come back, we have about last night. That's
where we discussed what we did last night. You just
got here, I did, So we'll talk about it way
up about last night. I went down. Yo, it's way
up at Intel, Like, yeah, I'm here, Jasmine Brand is here.

(07:09):
What did you do last night? Jasmine Brand? I know
you just got back into New York last night.

Speaker 8 (07:14):
Well, first of all, it was Rain's first day at preschool,
my daughter, so I had to do that. Then I
hopped on the train to come to celebrate this week
with you and y day.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
I went on a date last night. I went on
a date. Where did you go?

Speaker 8 (07:25):
We went to St. K I went on a hot
date and I was hot. We went on a date,
and then I went on a hot date. And then
that was it.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
It just drinks and dinner and then I'm here with you.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
Well, yesterday I actually went out to Then I had
a dinner meeting and I'm excited about this. You know,
I have this coffee company, Coffee Uplifts People, So now
we are going to be represented in Oakland. Oh I
love to bad Cali, But we had a meeting with
the owner of Home of Chicken and Waffles, So Coffee
Uplifts People cup is going to be available there shortly.
We're working on chicken and coffee indeed, and they had

(08:00):
like a walk up window too, so you can just
get your coffee to go. But that's exciting for me,
like to see my brand starting to expand.

Speaker 9 (08:07):
NAT.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I have no investments. We've paid for everything out of
pocket ourselves. Investments are scary to me because I see
a lot of things, you know, happening. I mean, I'm
watching the whole Uncle Nears thing play out. I feel
like that's been the biggest conversation with Fawn Weaver and
what's happening to her with Uncle nearst.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
That's a big story right now.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
It's a huge story that I have definitely deep dived into.
We both had to understand all sides of it. So
that's basically what I did. And it was nice. It
was a good, good conversation, good meeting.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
That's a big I love I love the Bay. That's
a big deal.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Yeah it is. And shouted to my girl Ingrid from
I Best Wine. She actually made that connection for me.
She's from Oakland and you know they're friends with each other.
But anyway, when we come back, I want to talk
about this because Chance the Rapper was up here recently
and he has his new album out right now, which
by the way, people are loving, Like I see people

(09:02):
talking about how this is like a classic album, and
so Starline is the name of the album. The project
just dropped, and one of the conversations that we had
when he was up here is. He talked about his
early education in Chicago and being placed in basically special ed.
Here's what he said. I was a special ed.

Speaker 10 (09:22):
Clearly, I was a special ed from fourth grade through
graduating high school.

Speaker 11 (09:28):
And what I'll say is that like those sort of
diagnosies and labels on children definitely mess with a sense
of self and confidence. And I used to always feel
like I was not smart when I was a kid.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
I am start yeah, extremely smart. And so stay in
the conversation we had. This ended up getting posted a
lot of places and it created a lot of conversations
because people are concerned about these programs, their own kids
and their own experiences with it, with IEP's individualized education programs.
So we want to know what has been your experience

(10:03):
with the education system when it comes to special ed,
also with IEPs, and how that has affected you. And
I tell you what my thoughts are too, as somebody
who when I was in high school, special ed was
not looked at like these are extremely smart kids who
maybe learn in a different way. It was definitely frowned
upon it. And he said other kids were teasing him too.

(10:24):
So I want to talk about you guys and what
your experience has been with special ed. How has that
affected you? Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty
Call us up again. That's eight hundred two ninety two
fifty one fifty. Jasmine, you're a mom. You just took
your daughter to preschool.

Speaker 8 (10:39):
Yeah, she's she's she's a uh autistic preschool and that's
special needs.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
And we'll talk about that when we come back. Eight
hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty. This way up,
all right, it's way yup, buddy, angela ye, and Jasmine
brand is here.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Yes, I'm not just needing brand. I'm my own brand.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
And we are talking about our education system here also
i EP's individualized Education programs and special ed. Right, and
this all comes some chance the rapper he revealed something
on way up with you that he's never talked about.
Here is what he said. I was a special ed.

Speaker 10 (11:08):
Clearly, I was a special ed from fourth grade through
graduating high school. And what I'll say is that like
those sort of diagnosies and labels on children definitely mess
with their sense of self and confidence. And I used
to always feel like I was not smart.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Now I want to ask what your thoughts are about
that jazzmon, because I know your daughter just went into preschool.

Speaker 8 (11:31):
Yeah, and she's autistic and she's in an autistic preschool
and it's been really hard. Her dad and I have
been super involved with like getting help and getting her
help at home.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
She's non verbal right now. It's been a challenge.

Speaker 8 (11:43):
So she she's four, she's she'll be four in a
few weeks, and it's been super hard. But hearing, you know,
just you know, it's it's a journey, and I think
parents have to be super involved.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
So I'm interested to hear what people have to say.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
And I just think about special ed. When I was
in school coming up, it was always a stigma, like
all those are the kids, Oh they're not smart, and
that's not two kids learn in different ways. Now, Hannah,
what's been your experience with the special ed system?

Speaker 12 (12:07):
So my son is on the spectrum and he's been
dealing with them. I've been dealing with a lot. He
kind of probably don't know what's going on. You just
know you keep getting transferred all around. But it was horrible.
His aide told me to put him in a school
that made me focus on kids with autism.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
I did that.

Speaker 12 (12:25):
It was the worst, I'm still fighting to the say
and if you're not educated like the parent, if you're
not educated on IEPs, if you're not going to all
the meetings, if you're not doing your own research, the
system will play with you. And I feel like our
communities aren't as educated as we should be on this topic.
A lot of our kids are starting to become kids
on the spectrum and it's just not fair how they

(12:49):
treat our kids in the system and they're not getting
all the help they should be getting.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
And you know, they talk about how a lot of
black students, especially boys, are placed in special ed and
basically because of discipline issues and other things and not
getting the support that they need acadactically. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Well,
thank you for calling. And you know, I would love
for you to keep us updated on your journey and
what's going on. And I think it's just such an
important conversation.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
It is, for sure.

Speaker 13 (13:13):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
I'll be all right, Thank you, I appreciate it. Let
us know. Heynico, how are you we're talking about special education.
What has been your experience with this system here?

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Well, I'm an educator.

Speaker 14 (13:25):
I'm actually a school counselor. I've worked in high schools
and junior highs. And what the frustration for me is
that you have students that need the help and because
of the stigma, the families won't put them in. And
then those are the kids that end up in trouble
because they can't process, they can't work, they can't do
the work, but they need the support. The issue is

(13:47):
the stigma.

Speaker 12 (13:48):
How do we deal with the stigma so.

Speaker 14 (13:50):
The kids that actually need the help and get the
help without having a lesue.

Speaker 13 (13:54):
My daughter has.

Speaker 14 (13:55):
An auditoring process and disorder. If I didn't put that
on her when she needed that, he wouldn't be graduated
from high school with honors right now.

Speaker 7 (14:03):
That's right.

Speaker 14 (14:05):
He needed all the work. Right now she's got a scholarship.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Congratulations, that's us. That's great. Thank you so much for Colin.
We appreciate hearing from your perspective as a parent and
as an educator. Hey, Hannah, how are you good? How
are you good? I'm a jazzmine and we're talking about
special education. What has been your experience?

Speaker 13 (14:23):
So my experience has been I'm thankful to be in Georgia.
I have advocated for my child. I have gone to
every IEP meeting. I have fult principles. My son has
had a bus evacuated. She has been very violent. He
is bipolar and also on the spectrum. And they have
followed lead with my auto support and outside therapy and

(14:45):
they have had a one on.

Speaker 15 (14:46):
One with him.

Speaker 13 (14:47):
They have advocated for him. And now he is in
middle school and I still have features following up co
tecting with him. Oh big, how are you doing?

Speaker 7 (14:56):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (14:56):
That's beautiful, that's great.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
See what's my teachers at one of them most important
jobs like literally that you can possibly have.

Speaker 5 (15:04):
You have you have to go to the meeting, if
you have.

Speaker 13 (15:07):
To call the principal. You have to be there for
that child.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
And it's not easy. Hannah, this is gonna be helpful
for so many other parents out there. We appreciate you
for calling. It's gonna give people hope. But also let
you know you have a responsibility too. You can't just
expect the teachers to be the babysitters.

Speaker 12 (15:24):
Right.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
Well, thank you, Hannah. We appreciate that. This was amazing.

Speaker 13 (15:27):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
I have a good day you too.

Speaker 7 (15:29):
Bye.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
All right, Well, thank you guys for calling, and you
can always leave a message. Eight hundred two nine fifty
one fifty. We'll play it during last word, okay, and
when we come back. Man, since we were talking about
parenting and education. Gee, Herbo is responding to some backlash
that he got online about his parenting, and we'll play
both sides for you. It's way up.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
Seeing both get it. Angelus feeling that ye tea, come
and get the tea.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Yeah, it's way ya put angela Yee. I'm here, jazz
and brand is here.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
I'm not just on my own brand.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
Let's get into it. It's yea team. But first we
got some breaking news. John Wall has officially announced his
retirement from the NBA. Okay, yes, he's a former number
one overall pick and five time NBA All Star. The
Washington Wizards posted one of our franchise all time greats,
the definition of an eraror a Lasting Legacy of Forever Wizard,

(16:22):
congrats on your retirement at John Wall, and he also
posted a video montage of his career highlights. Here's what
some of that sounds like.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
To my family, my mom especially, thank you for all
your sacrifices. I hope I made you proud. To my teammates,
trainers and coaches, thank you for believing in me and
to the fans he made me feel on stopping today,
I'm stepping off the court, not away from the game.
I feel nailed the Timson wall confidently into my next.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Chapter, already posted retired but never done doing it the
hashtag waway.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
He's only thirty four.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Yeah, And you know what's interesting is when you look
at his page, underneath his name, it says Mama's boy.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Oh that's cute.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
That's I love that all right now, ge Herbo has
a message for people who are questioning his own parenting style.
He posted a video of his youngest son and here
is what that video says.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
Girls, you like.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
So he said, my son looking for some fine ish
h Well after that, people were, you know, having things
to say, of course, and here was his response to
people who were questioning what his parenting is like.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
What child said.

Speaker 14 (17:34):
About how I raised my key is man.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
All my kids are intelligent, well mannered.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
What y'all see, it's what y'all get.

Speaker 13 (17:44):
Gangster.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
With that being seen, if my son say he like fine,
you know how to.

Speaker 12 (17:49):
Count, he know all his colors, he know everything you
need to know.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
He's a gangster.

Speaker 8 (17:55):
Yes, yeah, listen, angel If you were a mom cool
with your son talking like that, or you don't have
no issue with it.

Speaker 1 (18:02):
I mean, it depends on what they're like outside of that.
Kids just say funny stuff sometimes kills yeah, and you're
not supposed to laugh because you're like, but you want to,
because I've seen many a parent be like, oh my god,
and then they laugh and they're like, I don't want
to laugh at that. I want I want them to
think that's okay. But kids are funny and sometimes if
his kids are clearly like spoiled, they're not no gangster

(18:24):
street kids as they should be.

Speaker 7 (18:25):
You know.

Speaker 8 (18:26):
But at the same time, you got to be opening
the criticism because you posted it so.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Right, you know you already know what's going to happen.

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Yeah, he knew he was doing.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
It's like sending it to the family and the group chat.
You know, somebody talking about you behind your back. All right,
Well that is your yet and when we come back,
we have under the radar. These are the stories that
are flying under the radar, but you need to know
about them. One of them has to do with ozempic.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Oh I need that.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Let me just joke. Yes, men, Okay, Now, one thing
I have to say, is we kept on hearing all
these things about ozempic, ozempic, go zempic. We've known a
lot of people personally, we have who have had issues
yesing ozempic. Well, now there is crazy pending lawsuits. Will
tell you what that's about when we come back. Under
the radar is way up.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
The lows that relates to you. These stories are flying
under the radar.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
It's way up. But Angela, yee, I'm here, and girl,
my girl Jasmine brand is here.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
Yes, I'm here.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
You ready to go under the radar?

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Definitely ready?

Speaker 1 (19:19):
All right. O Zepic is facing over eighteen hundred lawsuits
and that's a lot. And they said damages are possibly
going to be tapping two billion dollars. Now, what are
some of the things that patients are saying this drug cause. Well,
the allegations are stomach paralysis, vision loss, and other severe
complications that are not clearly warned about. We all know

(19:42):
that ozempic was originally for diabetes and weight loss. It's
been around for a long time, but people are using
it to lose weights. Yes, yes, yes, yes yes. And
ozempic is also sold under other brands like with Govi
and they belong to a group of medicines called GLP
one to recept their agonists. So there's a lot of
hidden I do know people that have had and you

(20:03):
there's been like all these every time I feel like
it's something new, like people will be like, oh, zimpic face,
th oozimpic hands.

Speaker 7 (20:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (20:08):
Well, I know two people that have taken a weightless
drug and they've said their vision has been affected and.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Then they stop taking it and they're okay, yeah, so
you know they already careful with these drugs. Patients have
also talked about gallbladder complications. Some people discuss sudden vision loss,
and apart from these also, kidney damage has been reported
and patients are saying they did not get enough warning
about these risks and there's been so many cases of

(20:34):
complications reported.

Speaker 8 (20:35):
They have so many side effects on these medications though,
so I feel like that's had to be on there.

Speaker 7 (20:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
I also feel like though, people will still use it. Yeah,
I mean because you see, you know how when you
watch ads on TV and they be side effects include
and it's like a thousand things and they're like, dang,
I'll take it.

Speaker 8 (20:51):
Though.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Weight losses it's hard to lose weight.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
And for a little while, a lot of people do
see like results quickly. The problem is it's also that
if you stop taking it, reports are that people gain
all the weight and then some back.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Yeah, that's not fun all right.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Now, Bananas, I want to say, I said you eat
a banana every morning. Did you know that bananas are
the fourth most important food crop globally More than four
hundred million people rely on that fruit for fifteen to
twenty seven percent of their daily calories. Well, there's a
banana shortage on the way, and that's because of climate change,
and that is going to threaten food security over the

(21:27):
next several decades. Other things that are being threatened. Other
staple crops are corn, soybeans, rice, and wheat, and they're
likely to also face shortages as there are hotter days,
which means that there's going to be less of them available.
Of very hot days, even if it's a small amount
of time during the growing season, can cause large losses,
and that is going to affect what we get in

(21:48):
Climate change is the reason for that.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
I care about bananas, but I care about rice more.

Speaker 7 (21:53):
I love rice.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
I I got to cut back on that. But you know,
and the other issue, of course, is inflation. If there's
less bananas, that means prices are higher, and then they
also have tariffs and banana prices are already on the rise,
So gonna be off the egg situation. All right, Well
that is you're under the radar. We do have the
way Up mix at the top of the hour, plus
we got some more yet for you. We do have

(22:15):
ask yee, so we'll be giving advice today. Oh godness right,
and y'all know ye day is coming up? Angela Ye
day is on Saturday. My dad literally just called me
and he was at a store and he was like,
when is Angela ye Day? And I told him Saturday.
I guess someone in the store is coming. And I
heard someone in the background like I told you it's Saturday.
All right, Well it's way up. Ways like to talk

(22:37):
like they Angela Jean, like they Angela Jean and.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
She's spilling it all this is yeaky way, it's way up.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
But Angela Yee, I'm here, Jasmine Brand is here.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
I'm not just brand, I'm my own brand.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Let him know. Let's get into this yet. So a
Justin Bieber impersonator actually ran up a ten thousand dollar
bar tab and perform at a nightclub in Vegas. This
was at x x S nightclub. Before DJ Griffin realized
that it was not the real Justin Bieber, I was like,
I got to see what this performance sounds like. So

(23:11):
here's a little snippet.

Speaker 7 (23:12):
Okay, that's bad, right.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
I mean the venue was dark, it's crowded, people were
excited in the audience. Everybody thought it was him. Here
is what DJ Griffin had to say about it. That
was talk that was actually in their day, complete faith.

Speaker 7 (23:38):
No.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
I literally thought like something kind of.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
I was like, damn, you like put a lot of
wat since.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
It's not calling impersonator Chubby.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
I know he body shamed him.

Speaker 8 (23:48):
At least he was performing from that ten k he
blit the bar.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Well he he did end up having to pay that
ten k oh after this performance. The nerve right, I
didn't get paid for my performance, and I gotta pay now.
Juri has sat down and talked about her online feud
with Deanga's hand. Did you know Dreezy is Jack Queisy's
ex girlfriend. DeAndrea has a child, Yes with Jack Queis.
And when she sat down and talked to mister j Hill,

(24:12):
here's what she said.

Speaker 9 (24:13):
But I don't feel like that was a crash out situation.
That was a situation where I was in a relationship
with a guy for six years and a girl was
introduced to me by this guy during a birthday trip
and next thing I know, she was pregnant. And I
still never made it about the girl because one thing
about me is always the guy. But if you go
online and you saying stuff about me, like I get

(24:35):
paid to talk.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
She said, she can.

Speaker 8 (24:38):
Can I just say that had to be hurtful to
find that out, and you deal with a guy for
six years.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Yeah, they did it for six years, she handed.

Speaker 8 (24:45):
It went out under the circumstance because I would have
been you would have had to take my phone, Angela.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Have to take my phone. Oh my goodness.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
And you know what, that's why you're laughing.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Well, DeAndre responded, never been introduced, never shook hands, didn't
even start dating him till she was locked up in jail.
That shit, and he told her what it is. I'm
not speaking on this situation anymore, but don't play with
my character. We know the truth, y'all be blessed. Oh
they're both pretty, So it's just two different stories. I'm
not sure, but again, both parties have the right to

(25:14):
tell whatever their side of the story is. Somebody lying,
somebody she said it's always the guy that it's always
the guy. I co signed that, all right. Now, Jed
has announced his tour. God does like world tours and
he's gonna be on tour with Young Nudy and Mick
Jenkins and more.

Speaker 6 (25:29):
So.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
Okay, that should be really dope.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
I'm not familiar with Jid.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
You aren't j I d Are you serious? I don't
think so. Oh you're not saying I'll do a deep dive. Right,
I'm gonna play you sound. Don't worry. Okay, now you're
gonna love him. He has a new album out right
now too. It's amazing. Joey Badass is going on and
tour too, in promotion of his upcoming album Lonely at
the Top. Remember he was not pleased with the label
not putting out his album, and he'll be with Absol

(25:54):
and Rhapsody. He made this announcement yesterday, also with the
release of a new single called Dark Aura and that
is also the name of his tour. Brooklyn z own
all right, well, that is your yee tea and when
we come back. We have asked yee eight hundred two
nine two fifty one fifty. Any question you have, we
are here to help you out. So U if you
want to know anything, if we can help you with business, relationships, friendships, anything,

(26:16):
call us up. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty.
Maybe you're a dog and you're a month and you
want to stop. Here's me on Thomas. It's way I go.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Okay, everybody six, whether it's relationship or career advice. Angela's
dropping facts you should you should know. This is ask gee.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
What's up? His way up with Angela? Yee, I'm here,
Jasmine brand is here, Yes, and it is time for
ask yee eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty.
In case you can't get through, you can also leave
a message. But today we have Chico on the line.
What's up, Chico?

Speaker 5 (26:45):
I'm arival well, but I mean, you know I will scammed.
Last month, what happened the women call me from said
my name calls and Chase. That's the first risk Lack
got even because I was working at the time. So
she called me. She said, I'm being scam from Texas
four thousand liven thousand, nine thousand, which was twenty two thousand.
He was had a now dialogue. I said, well, how
do I know? Yeah, I just came on miss she said.

(27:06):
She said, I'm going to call this. I'm gonna chase number.
Look at the back of your debit card, same number
else in the back of my car, I said for her.
So she said, I have to go to a branch
right away. I called my job. I said, listen, I
have to go to a bank because I'm being stammed.
Said you know those no same thing. Go to the ATM,
and I'm gonna tell you what to do. We're going
to give you all new bank account number, we're gonna
switch your account over, we're going to give you new

(27:26):
debit card, all of this.

Speaker 15 (27:28):
And so I went to the bank. I said, the
money out.

Speaker 5 (27:30):
She said, I put it in the ATM in the
same bank I put in the ATM. I went to
a different account. I didn't even realize what was going on.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Man, Wow, that's an elaborate game.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
How much is that like?

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Twenty two thousand, said, oh my gosh, twenty.

Speaker 5 (27:41):
Two count Oh my god. So she even was able
to put a digital card on my phone. So I'm
gonna chase bugger.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
Like how they use all your the questions. It's crazy.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
I want to use it everything. People here crying like
this is my only this is my business and everything.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
My goodness.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
The problem is that's not chasing fault. They're saying they
can't do anything for you.

Speaker 5 (28:03):
They're saying because I took it on my own hands.
So I'm on the champ said miss, I'm only one
of your guys's bank right here. You can't strack it.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
I would, yeah, I would think.

Speaker 5 (28:09):
I want to try to get a subpoena for the
BTM or stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
I mean, listen, the first thing they tell you to
do is to contact their for a department. But the
problem is, yeah, but you're going to have to fillo
a police report. Have you done that?

Speaker 5 (28:21):
And So'm I going to the police? Stays they tell
me any report? Some chose right.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
Have you called the FTC the Federal Trade Commission?

Speaker 5 (28:28):
I don't think I call them.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
You can report scams to the FTC and you can
call them eight seven seven FTC help to also report
to them. There's also the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. You
could file a complaint with them and then also the
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Look that up. You can file
a complaint. If you can't resolve the issue with Chase Bank,
then you need to call the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

(28:51):
But the faster you do it, the better. So just
make sure you have all of your statements and everything
that happen in order so that you have everything that
you need to send to them.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
Hi, statements and everything. Man, the time, the days of
call over my phones, all of that us I'm thinking anything.
I'm trying to stand them.

Speaker 8 (29:06):
Yeah, I'm sure this happens to people all the time.
People just don't talk about it publicly, like hell right.

Speaker 5 (29:12):
They pulled up family because I'm so disappointed myself while
not even catching it.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
Yeah, yeah, you know, you just got a woman I
went back to the bank.

Speaker 5 (29:19):
She said, oh my god, miss I, holy ifeople told
me I could have stopped here. I said, I didn't know.
She said, there total investigation with be HO. So those say,
oh my god, I just can't even believe I did.

Speaker 6 (29:29):
You know.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
It's unfortunate, but you got to go through all of
these different things to try to make sure that I'm
and I'm hoping that you'll be able to get your
money back that they can trace it or do whatever.
But unfortunately you did take the money out and do
that and get skim and the bank may not feel
like they're responsible. But maybe if you go through this
whole process of you know, reporting, you never know what

(29:49):
can happen, and that's all you can do. And I'm
glad you called up with your story because people who
are listening so they know not to get caught this
same way. Yeah, you know, it could have always been worse.
Thank God, like you said, you're alive, and well that's
how you started this conversation. And so this is a
warning behind me.

Speaker 5 (30:05):
But it doesn't hit me like I'll be driving it.
It hits me like, yeah, well but Angeline, I love
y'all show, I go to your shower, I frequent your shot.
I'm not fall from you.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
I'm in bed guy.

Speaker 5 (30:16):
Okay, I appreciate y'all and you know, all right.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
But let us know, let me know what happens. I
just hope you can make some headway on this and
you know, maybe there's a way that they can trace
it or you can get your money back. But if anything,
this is yet another warning for people.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
For sure.

Speaker 5 (30:31):
Yeah it's crazy, but I will be at the annual
day to meet you and just say thank you for
your health and everything like that.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
All right, thank you for calling good Buck.

Speaker 5 (30:39):
All right, y'all have a good one and.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
Angela Ude is coming up on Saturday. Yes, just going
it out there one more time, yep, all free outside
at the Barclays in the middle of Planet Brooklyn, a
two day festival. When we come back, I want to
talk about something Jasmine and I discussed on our way
to work. Monkey barring. Do you know what monkey barring is?
It's a toxic new dating trend. We'll talk about it
when we come back. It's way up. Turn me up

(31:03):
here we go up.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
This is way up with Angela.

Speaker 13 (31:06):
Ye.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
You know what it is? Way up with Angela yee.
I'm here with Jazzmine Brand.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
On my own brand.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
It's getting her hair done right now as we're sitting
in a studio taking But we were talking about monkey
barring and they're saying this is a toxic new dating trend.
It's called monkey barring or monkey branching, which basically means
that you have a partner, but you're lining up another one.
So when this is over, I have somebody waiting in
the wings a backup plan. Yes, okay, so monkey barring

(31:35):
and polyamory are different. Monkey baring is based on codependency.
It is also kind of cheating because I'm seeing someone
else behind your back. Yeah, that is cheating, right, And so,
according to experts, people who do this lack of emotional
growth because you're constantly moving through life in a fair
based manner to avoid the hard work it takes when

(31:56):
healing from wounds in a past relationship. So people, you
know how people will be scared to be alone, yes,
and so in order to avoid that, they know this
isn't working, let me line up something else so I'm
never alone.

Speaker 8 (32:08):
What do you think about that sounds strategic? I feel
like this is pretty common. I don't think it's a
I don't think it's anything new. I think people often
have something, you know, someone else, at least someone else
in mind when they were about to break up with someone.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
But you know, when you are in a relationship that's
long term, sometimes you need a little bit of time
in between stuff. Absolutely going from one relationship and jumping
into another one. A lot of times they call that
a rebound. Yep, that fear of being alone and you
can actually take that time to work on yourself.

Speaker 7 (32:37):
I think heal.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
I think, yeah, mature.

Speaker 8 (32:40):
I think if you're mature, you know, I think you
give yourselves a break in some space in between relationships.
But I think, you know, sometimes a lot of times
I don't think we do that.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
I feel like before I did tell you, like, get
over him by getting under someone else.

Speaker 8 (32:51):
You a one hundred percent. I didn't know if you
were going to say that or not, but you've definitely
told me that before.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
But that wasn't a relationship you were in. You were like, yeah,
you're yeah, you're weird, kidding, But I was about to
say this. Jesse Rays gave that advice on a very
popular song, get over him by getting under me, get
over her by getting under.

Speaker 8 (33:11):
Me, And I love that song. But also I would
like to say that. Earlier today, Angela suggested that it
was okay the monkey bar not yeah you did?

Speaker 5 (33:18):
You did?

Speaker 1 (33:19):
I said, it's okay if somebody is out of a relationship, yes,
And then you know how sometimes we can tell ourselves, well,
I don't want to be in anything serious. I just
want to date. I don't know, you know, I don't
want to jump into anything. But if you really really
like somebody and y'all really have connected, okay, and you're
both single. I don't think that you should do that,

(33:40):
like just say I don't want to be committed.

Speaker 8 (33:43):
Last question, how long do they need it in between
relationships for it to be different?

Speaker 1 (33:47):
Every situation is different.

Speaker 6 (33:49):
You know.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Sometimes we're broken up before the other person knows.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Now that's a problem.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Well that is monkey barring or monkey branching. And when
we come back, this is your show, so you have
the last word up the phone, get your voice heard.

Speaker 3 (34:03):
What the word is the last word on Way Up
with angela Ye?

Speaker 1 (34:08):
It's Way Up with angela Ye. Happy Tuesday. Jasmine Brand
is here.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
On my own ran.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
I couldn't even remember the lines.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
What I couldn't remember?

Speaker 2 (34:17):
My my, my song.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Oh it's the whole song too. By the way, guys,
if you ever want to feel free to google it.
We're in here talking about angela Ye day and that's
going to be happening on Saturday. Yes, I am so
excited for that. I just want to say, like, thinking
about all the performances that's gonna happen some of my.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
Is this the third one or the fourth one?

Speaker 1 (34:39):
It's more than that. It's the sixth one girl. Wow, okay,
don't insult me like that.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
I'm never happened again.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
You were pregnant at day. How long ago was that?

Speaker 2 (34:48):
Four or five years ago?

Speaker 6 (34:49):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (34:49):
Okay, okay, got a little offended. That was irresponsible. No,
I'm kidding. You were and I remember you didn't want
people to know you were pregnant, so every picture we
took we had to stand in front of you and
hid your belly. With all that being said, the days
for the kids, ye are right, Bring the kids out.
Pregnant women come out great friends, and don't be like

(35:10):
nine months like Jessin. Yes, I think I have to
take you the next week. Yeah, just you know, take
it easy, stream it for you. But anyway, again, this
is your show. We love you guys, so of course
you have the last word.

Speaker 15 (35:24):
Woe man is bird. I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana. She
wanted chow men on the topic that you have in
a day about special ed.

Speaker 6 (35:31):
I was a kid.

Speaker 15 (35:32):
When I was in middle school, they put me in
special education for behavior problems, and over the years it
kind of messed with your self esteem, you know. I
graduated years later. Okay, Now I have one of the
highest standing jobs in the city.

Speaker 12 (35:48):
All Right, this is to me good. I just want
to sound the light on my daughter and you let
her know that she's doing.

Speaker 14 (35:53):
A great job as a mom and I'm so proud
of her.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
Going way out, Julie
