Speaker 1 (00:01):
You are not.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
All right, it's where you put the angela ye, yeah, yeah,
this rapture Tuesday.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Yeah, you see, it's supposed to be the rapture today.
Today's day.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (00:22):
That means the end of the world. So it's over.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Yeah, I think today and tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
So you know, do you that's your advice for the day.
I don't even know what you would do if the
rapture was coming, Like, would you do that?
Speaker 3 (00:34):
You haven't you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I've been living.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yeah, that's what I mean. Like, how does today change anything.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
For you know, everybody else out buy buy my boots?
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Yeah, okay, all right. You know what else we should
do for the rapture? We should interview Maury Povich. I
like that you are not, and that's why Mary Povich
is going to be joining us today. He has this
new podcast on par with Maury, so the on Par pod,
so you can check that out. He's interviewed your friend
Dave east On there. His first interview was with Connie
(01:08):
Chung when he launched the back of March, his wife,
his wife of forty something years.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
So except love I have, well yeah, mighty too late.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
But anyway, let's shine a light eight hundred to night.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Come on, come up here for this fifty.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
One fifty call us up. It's Rapture Tuesday. Let us
know who you want to shine a light on. That's
eight hundred two nine to two fifty one fifty. Its
way up machine.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
Turn your lights on, y'all, light spreading love to those
who are doing greatness.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Shine the light on them, Shine a light on. It's
time to shine a light on them.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
All right, it's way you put angela ye, I'm here,
Mayno's here right. And one of the world's wealthiest women,
Mackenzie Scott, you know, formerly married to Jeff Bezos. She
just gave a seventy million dollar donation to UNC to
financially strengthen HBCUs. UNCF is the nation's the largest provider
(02:05):
of scholarships to minority students, and so that's what she
decided to. That is the single largest donation and it's
one of the first to be publicly disclosed in twenty
twenty five. Now, normally she only discusses her donation through
her website and she does not confirm them until after
the recipients do.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
But this is a really.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Powerful gift for HBCUs and so they're establishing a three
hundred and seventy million dollar fund. She has donated seventy million.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Love it.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
And I think the timing of this is amazing, just
given all the cutbacks it's been happening when it comes
to funding, when it.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Comes to education.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
And so that's how you actually and I know this
is something we've been discussing, how people who are of
privilege financially need to make sure that they're also being
part of this. Yeah, being part of what's going on
right now. That's the only way we'll be able to
continue to thrive the way that we need to. All
right now, Mackie, who do you want to shine a
light on own verb?
Speaker 6 (03:05):
I just want to shine a light on myself, you know,
young man. Just taking the steps I got to take
better myself. And I'll go in the shelter and hopefully
after this I'll be able to have my own house.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Oh okay, you're going into a shelter right now? Are
you working?
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (03:19):
I amn't working. I got a little side job. I
insta the card a little bit, play music. I'm a musician,
all right.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Well listen, best of luck to you, Mackie, and be
shining a light on you. You're doing what you got
to do to hold it down. I am wishing you
the most blessings ever and that I feel like everything's
gonna work.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Out for you.
Speaker 6 (03:35):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
All right, thank you Mackie for calling. All righty have
it go on you too, well, that would shine a
light eight hundred and two nine two fifty one fifty
in case you couldn't get through.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
And when we come back, we got your yet.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
And let's talk about these character letters for Diddy as
he is getting sentenced. We'll tell you what Young Miami
had to say, what Janis Colmbs had to say as well,
and everybody who's been writing letters. It's way up, this
says in the rooms.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
From Industry Shade to all the gossip out Angelus speeling
that et.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
It's way up with Angela Yee and manos here we man.
Let's talk about Ditty. So his attorneys are submitting documents now.
They filed the sentencing packet for court and prosecution. They
are trying to get him a more lenient sentence now,
just for a perspective, prosecutors say Diddy should be sentenced
to between fifty one and sixty three months.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
That's about five years.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
His lawyers are countering with twenty one to twenty seven months.
He's already been there for thirteen months, and so that
would mean he would be able to come home soon.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Now.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
According to these documents, in the past two years, Ditty's
career and reputation have been destroyed. He served over a
year in one of the most notorious jills in America,
yet has made the most of that punishment. They said
it's time for him to go home to his family.
They also said that he became sober for the first
time in twenty five years and has inspired other inmates
with his program. In addition, he it's an incident free
(05:01):
record while in the lock up, and he has no
prior criminal history.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
So exactly an average person with that charge as convicted
for that is not doing that much time.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Right Well, you know, it's the two counts of the
Man Act is what he's been convicted on. That's no
more than six to twelve months in prison on each count,
all right now. Young Miami wrote a character letter to
the judge ahead of the sentence thing, and she talked
about being in a public relationship with him for three
years and she said she witnessed and came to know
(05:32):
a different person than the one often portrayed. She said
it's important for the court to know the side of
Sean that isn't always seen or spoken about. And one
of her most meaningful memories was when he took her
to her first met galap It was about what it represented.
He made it a priority to open doors for black people.
She also discusses how he gave her a voice, providing
her a platform on his network, and she said he's
(05:53):
not a danger or a threat to the community. Another
person who wrote a letter was, of course, his mother,
Janis Holmes. She says she'll be eighty five years old
December twenty first, and the separation for the past year
has been difficult and painful for her and for his children.
She wants to spend the last few years of her
life with her son. She did say, unfortunately, my son
has made some terrible mistakes in his life, which I
(06:15):
know he recognizes. She ends it by saying, my health
has deterior rated these last couple of years. I had
two brain surgeries and monthly follow ups. I'm having a
really difficult time controlling my diabetes. My doctor informed me
that the diabetes has affected my heart, which may result
in a stroke.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Another person who wrote a letter was Carl Thomas.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Now Carl Thomas said that he's known Puff personally and
professionally since nineteen ninety six when he originally signed to
Bad Boy Records. He said, when my house in Houston
was flooded in twenty sixteen, Puff was the very first
person to call and help me when disaster struck. Even
in this season of accountability, Puff continues to demonstrate humility,
self reflection, and an earnest desire to correct what has
(06:53):
gone wrong. So we'll get these results October third, that
is when he is going to be sentenced and we'll
see how much time he gets. But he is following
up to he is facing up to ten years in prison.
All right, that is your yet And when we come back,
we have about last night where we discussed what happened
last night. My night was a little crazy, and just
(07:15):
to give you a preview, it has to do with
dogs on the loose, Jay Electronica, and a Brooklyn neighborhood
in bedsty.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
It's way up.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
So about last.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Night, Yes, I went down, Yeah, it's way up. With
Angela yee, I'm here. Mayno's here. No, man, So what
did you do last night?
Speaker 4 (07:38):
I was moving around right because you were a little Yeah,
I'm feeling a lot better.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Good. You needed some rest.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Sometimes you got to stay home, especially because today is
you know.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
The end of the world.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
Yeah, so we rested for it. So yesterday I had
Everything was pretty calm until I got a call. Jay
Electronica was like, Hey, are you at home. I'm gonna
come by out of nowhere. Yeah. Well, you know, and
he's been dropping albums. By the way, I don't know
if you've been listening, but I think you'll enjoy. Right,
(08:10):
he's finally putting out all this music. I think he's
got like nineteen projects done or something like that. So anyway,
I'm like, I'm at home. He's like, I'm gonna come by.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
I can't come in.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
I have my dogs with me. He has two Great Danes.
You know those dogs are huge.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
What.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
So he pulls up, he's outside, we're talking. All of
a sudden, I look over and I'm like, I think
you're a dog jumped out the window your house by
the outside of the car. Oh right, So I guess
the dog went to go chase another dog. Somebody was
walking a dog, and then mayhem kind of broke out
for a hot second. I saw, you know, shout out
(08:43):
to everybody on the corner running inside the building, and
then one of the dogs, I guess that the dog
chased got lost, so they were on a mission to
find the dog that got lost. Then while that's happening,
the other dog jumps out the window. So now there's
two Great Danes.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Loose on the block.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
And those dogs are huge d but they're good, they're
kind of trained. So he did catch his dogs, and
then he went to go help one woman find the
dog that was missing. So that took a little bit,
but it's fortunate. Yeah, it was an adventure yesterday. So
fortunately everything calmed down. But what did come of it
was we do on our block have a block association
(09:21):
meeting coming up, and that's going to be this week actually,
and there's been a lot of clashing on my block
between you know, gentrifications of Super Real Thing and Best
Die and so there's a clash on our block between
people who have lived there, and actually I feel like
help keep the block safe and clean, Like you know,
(09:42):
they'll be outside playing music, having food, playing cards, but
it's very safe. I feel like my packages don't get stolen.
I don't have to worry about anything when I'm not
around because I know somebody's watching, right, But there are
people who moving on the block that don't like that,
and you know those people sometimes different hue and they
don't like people outside playing music that somebody's calling the
(10:04):
cops all the time.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
The cops are trying to break things up.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
It's been a lot less active this summer because I
feel like the cops keep coming, and like, you know,
go inside. You can't be out here, you can't be
on the sidewalk, you can't do this. But this is
something that's been going on way before, right right the
neighborhood got gentrified. So I just want to know because
this has been an issue in a lot of different places.
You know, when I was with Jay yesterday, we're talking
(10:27):
about New Orleans and how that's gotten so gentrified, so
many different neighborhoods. Detroit, you see it happening everywhere in Detroit.
We want to know what your thoughts are and what
your experience has been when it comes to gentrification. Eight
hundred two nine two fifty one fifty call us up
no matter what it is.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
We just want to hear what your thoughts are.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
Because what gentrification comes like, you know, certain things, it
benefits a neighborhood, but in a lot of ways they
want you to change what tradition has been. We haven't
had a block party in forever apparently eight hundred two
nine two fifty one fifty all this up.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
We're talking about gentrification.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Way up with Angela ye more now, Hey, yes.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
It's way up at Angela Yee. I'm here, man, it's here.
I'm always here, so you'll be here tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (11:13):
I'm a try.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
I just have to do that, all right.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
Well, speaking of other things, let's talk about gentrification. And
now I was telling you guys we have like a
block association meeting coming up.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
And one of the main.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Issues is it feels like there's like a standoff on
the block between people who are longtime residents, right and
then the people who are gentifying and anything.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
They own the street and.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
They want to be that calling the cops all the time.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
You want to people outside not wanting to have a
block party.
Speaker 4 (11:44):
Can you not stand in front of my property?
Speaker 2 (11:47):
And things like that, And I want to say last
summer was way more lit on my block.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
This year has felt.
Speaker 4 (11:52):
Like I'm I'm gonna stop posting up on your block
and bring the energy that you need.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
Yeah, come bring the energy. I told you yesterday. It
was very It was an energetic evening for me. But anyway,
we want to know what your thoughts are when it
comes to gentrification. You know, it's unfortunate. Property values are
going up. People can't afford certain things anymore, and then
you can't even be outside like you've been for decades, Davion,
what's been your experience?
Speaker 7 (12:17):
Man, I'm from Jersey bro I live in Oakland right now,
and wow.
Speaker 8 (12:22):
It's crazy.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
It's crazy just to fright out here, like it's.
Speaker 7 (12:26):
Literally no black people out here, no more right.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
That's wild. You know I'm gonna be out here. Have
you ever been a home of chicken and waffles?
Speaker 7 (12:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (12:35):
I have?
Speaker 2 (12:36):
I had, all right, Just so you know, they're about
to start selling my coffee in there, Coffee uplifts people.
So I'm gonna be out there soon to launch that.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Oh I'm definitely coming back.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
All right. Well, good well, I see you in Oakland.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
I'm gonna make sure y'all know when I'm gonna be there.
Thank you for calling, Taisha. Yes, we're talking about gentrification.
What's been your experience?
Speaker 8 (12:56):
It's horrible. I'm actually from the neighborhood. I'm from make
and catching a route.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Oh and so yeah, so what what's been going on?
Speaker 3 (13:04):
I know exactly where you are.
Speaker 8 (13:06):
You can't find it with a park as it is.
And they started putting the bike things on the block.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah, when you're in New York, then bike things take
a math parking spots and.
Speaker 8 (13:14):
They look like you want to come to the neighborhood.
Speaker 7 (13:17):
You join the festivity, you join the culture.
Speaker 8 (13:20):
You don't come here change it because you're liking and
then to ted to do the same thing when they
move in. Now they're putting furniture outside so they can
sit outside and drink.
Speaker 9 (13:30):
Their beer and coffee and tea.
Speaker 8 (13:32):
Right, that's the same thing where were you were doing
way before y'all got here.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
You're right about that, because there's all these little tiny
coffee shops. They got little chairs outside.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
Like where did this come from?
Speaker 2 (13:41):
But then they don't want them people to be out there.
I've been there, their whole lives to sit outside.
Speaker 8 (13:46):
It's horrible.
Speaker 9 (13:47):
You can't afford Brooklyn no more.
Speaker 8 (13:49):
You gotta make fixed figures that live in Brooklyn.
Speaker 7 (13:51):
Right, it's not fair. I fell to the people that's
been there.
Speaker 8 (13:54):
I was born and raised on Macon and it's still
that we're getting.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Pushed out right, like it's not even your neighborhood. Like
I got to do what they want to do. All right, Well,
thank you for calling.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
Thank you, Michelle.
Speaker 10 (14:06):
Hi.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
What you think about gentrification? What's been happening?
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Well, I'm an old head.
Speaker 9 (14:11):
I've grew up in Harlem. Uptown.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Soul is not the same.
Speaker 7 (14:15):
It's not the same.
Speaker 9 (14:17):
But also, we have allowed people to come in our
communities and we have made with Mehy that people have
to feel like they have to come in our communities
to clean it up, and therefore this allows them to
take over. So we need to be more mindful of
our communities and cultures too.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yeah, I mean Harlem is definitely that was you know.
I feel like that's being gentrified.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Now.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
We can't even afford to live in our own communities,
and that's why who represents us.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
It's so important.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Local elections are so important, and we got to make
sure we hope people accountable when it comes to affordable housing.
Speaker 9 (14:51):
Exactly, and don't let people have pay it off get
office because they forget about us.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
All right, thank you for calling.
Speaker 7 (14:58):
All right, thank you, Angela.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
So what I'm getting from all this is, Mana, we
needed to be brooklyn Borough president campaign manager.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah, for sure, let's do it.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
But you got to get married because I think that
people look at that more seriously. All right, well, thank
you guys for calling. Eight hundred and two ninety two
fifty one fifty. It is a very serious topic gentrification.
If you couldn't get through, you can always call up
and leave a message. When we come back, we have
your y E T and Jimmy Kimmel is back on
ABC today. We'll give you the details that we know.
(15:28):
It's way up.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Sure, she's about to blow the lead ab off this spot.
Let's get it. Oh, Angela's feeling that yet, come and
get the tea.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
It's way up at Angela. Yee, I'm here, mayno's here, No, Mana.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
I think the conversations behind the scenes need to be televised.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
All right. Now, let's talk about Cardi b first and foremost.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
She was recently on X and people are wondering why
she's not divorced you knows she is pregnant. But one
thing people will say, Oh, but he's you know you're
still married and you're pregnant. Here's what you have to
say about what the hold up is.
Speaker 11 (16:00):
Stop saying, oh, but you're still married. No, I'm legally separated.
Speaker 9 (16:03):
Y'all want another tea?
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Don't you have to get on my marriage?
Speaker 11 (16:05):
If I pay for somebody else's taxes, even though I
pay for my own and give them one of our properties,
I'm fighting for that.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
It's tough.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
That's why when I get divorced, it's gonna be quick.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
Why would you say that you.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Got to plan your divorce.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
You have to get to have a prenup.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
No divorce, Yeah, I mean playing my marriage and divorce.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Have you ever seen this movie? I think it's called
The Divorce. You know, you think things are going to
be friendly. The person that you love can end up
being like your worst enemy. War are the roses killing
each other? Right?
Speaker 3 (16:38):
They both fell all right?
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Now?
Speaker 2 (16:40):
In addition to that, she talked about having Janet Jackson
on her album she was with Sway had they being
Tracy g And here's what she had to say.
Speaker 11 (16:48):
If we ever asked Janet Jackson or any of the
Jackson family for they support you will be very surprised,
like they answer fast. They don't be funny with like
with the percent to just like that.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
That's good, that's super good.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Yeah, they answered that you would not think that.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
I could see that though, like them being really humble
mm hm.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
In addition, she discussed, you know what does it cost
to get Janet Jackson on the song?
Speaker 11 (17:16):
I have the song a certain way, but she wanted,
like the production to sound a certain weight. She took
over the head and I'm gonna say what Johnny Jackson
want me to do? Like whatever, I say, like what, no, okay,
Johnny Jackson, what you want whatever?
Speaker 2 (17:33):
And I agree with her, Yeah, you know, whatever you need, whatever.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
You want, do what Janet says.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Cardi is also going to be replacing the Weekend as
the headliner at Global Citizen Festival, so you get to
hear that for the first time live before her tour
in twenty twenty six. The Weekend was supposed to be headlining.
He's no longer performing. That's a good updated headliner.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Absolutely, yeah on fire right now.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
How do you feel about that?
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Dan is a huge weekend fand he's also a huge
party fan.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
The weekend is an incredible performer, So it.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Is Cardi Weekends a goat all right now, Jimmy Kimo
is going to be returning to ABC tonight. Unfortunately for him, though,
the country's largest owner of its local affiliate stations won't
air the show because Jimmy Kimmel is also not going
to apologize for what he had to say about Charlie
Kirk's alleged killer. He did negotiate his return to the
(18:25):
airwaves directly with Walt Disney, with the CEO Bob Iger
and the number two co chair Dana Walden, according to
sources with knowledge of the situation.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
That's what they told the Post.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
But there's going to be dozens of local ABC stations
that's owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group. They announced that they're
going to be airing news programming in its place. Good
for Jimmy Kimo not apologizing because he's a comedian. The
same people that tell you you have as a comedian
licensed to be funny and still do these things.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
To not be the ones apologetic.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Now you have some nerve trying to say, oh, you
need to do this, you need to apologize.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
That's not funny. Blah blah blah.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
So I know everyone's going to be tuned in tonight
their loss when we come back. We got your under
the radar stories. And let's talk about Elon Musk's father.
They've done this deep dive in New York Times. They've
done an investigation on Errol Musk and they're talking about
these allegations against him, and there's police and court records,
personal correspondence, and it's pretty ugly.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
It's way up in the.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
News that relates to you. These stories are flying under
the radar.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
All right.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Its way up with angela ye, and it's signed for
your under the radar stories. I just came back from Vegas, man,
Oh you know that from the iHeart Festival. Yes, indeed,
But you know Vegas has now slashed prices. It's their
first time they've ever done a city wide sale to.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Try to get people to come there.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
There's fifty percent off the best available rate on some
hotel waves, resort fees, free parking, even.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Massages for only ninety nine dollars.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
This is available today through Friday, and a lot of
destinations are struggling.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
And you know why.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
They said the US is the only one among one
hundred and eighty four countries that will see a tourism
decline in twenty twenty five. A lot of people don't
want to come here because surpricey. That's not just think
about all the things that we're doing with these terriffs
and other countries and making enemies and saying Canada should
be part of the United States. We're not necessarily saying it,
(20:24):
but our representative is absolutely So it's really not making
people feel too keen on coming here. People from Canada
have literally like canceled their trips and vacations here after
Donald Trump has said some things about Canada in the midst.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Of this whole tariff war.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
So people are kind of like, I'll go somewhere else
and take my money somewhere else.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
So, yes, you can get a good deal right now,
all right.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
Elon Musk, his father has reportedly been accused of sexually
abusing five of his children and step children. The youngest
was only four years old. These allegations against Arol Musk
are in a New York Times investigation, which claims police
and court records, personal correspondence, social workers, and interviews with
family members show that he's been He's been accused of
(21:08):
inappropriately touching some of the young ones in his life
over a period of thirty years. The earliest one is
nineteen ninety three, his four year old stepdaughter told family
he had touched her at the family house.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
This is all according to the New York Times, and a.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Decade later, she says she caught him sniffing her underwear.
Now it's recently a twenty twenty three, a family member
and social worker, according to this report, attempted to intervene
after his then five year old son said his father
had groped his buttocks. According to this New York Times article,
they said Arrow was accused by family members of abusing
(21:42):
two of his daughters and a step son, but that
he had not been convicted of any crimes, even after
three separate police investigations into his behavior were opened over
the years.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
He got a problem, so allegedly.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Now he's denying all of the allegations, he told the
Times the reports are false and nonsense in the extreme,
and he says he's the only He says he only
is aware of one abuse allegation. But he has at
least nine children and step children, and he has been
married three times. All right, well that is you're under
the radar. We do have the Way Up mixed for
you at the top of the hour, and guess who's
(22:15):
coming today.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
I won't know who Maury Povich and you are not
the father.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
And then you go running out the room screaming happy
high five in the audience.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
He has a new show.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
It's called The onm par Podcast, so we'll be talking
about that. But of course, you know, Maria is classic.
He's also a real journalist. Remember he had both Current Affair. Yeah,
he had that show obviously married to Kannie Chung. Now
that is a journalism dream couple. All right, it's way up.
She's like the Talk like they am Jealie Jean, like
(22:48):
they am Julie Jean.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
She's spilling it all. This is yet.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Way up, man, I'm spilling it out. Okay, well let's
get right into this yet. So Catfish has been canceled
at MTV after nine seasons.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
Did you know that? I didn't even realize that show
was still on, did you I didn't.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
I thought it was all reruns. I love this show, though.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
Yes, and next show? Have I known?
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Never?
Speaker 2 (23:17):
But I don't really like meet people online like you guys,
sliding into dms and.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
Stuff like that. My dms get slid in.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
Okay, I know that's right. So uh.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Next, Showman, by the way, has been doing his own thing.
He's actually ventured off into real estate, and I guess
he's already been kind of knowing that this was going
to be gone after a while. So here is I mean,
I'm not sure what this clip is, but here is
part of Catfish.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Is this what this is? What is it?
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Here's them announcing the closing of the show.
Speaker 8 (23:49):
Catfish as we've known it is over, which is sad,
but at.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
The same time, what an incredible journey it's been.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
No matter what ever happens.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Golden rule, Golden rule, no matter how someone treats you
or how angry or upset, you are never call someone
a bad ass. Henly Rice, and that comes from an
episode I guess where she was catfishing and but she
was a cousin or yeah, a whole situation.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
People were really getting catfish on that shop.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
I was like, is this r It's crazy?
Speaker 3 (24:19):
It feels like a bow wow episode. Yes, all right. Now,
Wax and Riches also has been canceled.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
It only had one season, and yes, Jules was somebody
on the show that people were really she was a
polarizing figure on that show. I will say that. So
somebody said, why don't Charelle shows make it to season two?
And then yes, Jewels said, because nothing about her is redeeming,
influential or genuine. I don't have to respect anyone with
a malicious intent who doesn't care about who they step
(24:49):
on to have the success that they have. She barely
respects other women herself, as you can see with her
treatment of Stony and her post show fall fall out
with her old podcast co hosts, who I heard she
chose not to pay for their time and efforts. All right,
and Joe Exotics associate has been killed. Unfortunately, Ryan easily.
He was handling a tiger during the Saturday show at
(25:11):
the Growler Pines Tiger Preserve and he was suddenly set
upon by the tiger.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
The tiger grabbed him by.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
The neck and shoulder area and then started shaking him.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
He raised violently with his teeth.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
They said, Now the tiger's been put in a single
cage and will not be allowed out pending the outcome
of the probe. So Peta in the meantime said Ryan
Hall tigers around the country, forced them to perform in
cruel circuses and kept them trapped in cages for hours
when they weren't performing for years. You know, they did
a whole I guess they're not sorry type of situation.
(25:46):
Joe Exotics said. However, that's not true. He said, no
one can blame the tiger for what happened. We all
take a risk in what we do, and we don't
need further laws to ban tigers because of this, because
you can get killed doing just about anything. So I
know it's a job I would never have.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
I'll tell you as I wanted to tiger that one point.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Our condolences though to Ryan Easley's family, Yeah, don't do it.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Yeah, you may think that you are.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Raising this tiger from a little cub and be loyal
to you and then boom, all right, well that is
your Yet when we come back, ask yee eight hundred
two nine two fifty one fifty call us up any
question you have.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
We're here to help you out. That's eight hundred two
nine to fifty one fifty meters and the award winning
and advice. We're nice mano.
Speaker 5 (26:31):
All right, Since whether it's relationship for career advice. Angela's
dropping facts you should you should know. This is ask gee,
what's up?
Speaker 3 (26:39):
His way up at Angela?
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Yee, I'm here with the award winning advice giving manos.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
Right award winning and ladies.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
He's not feeling well, so if you see him, show
him some extra love. We have Nikki on the line
for ask ye, what's up?
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Nikki?
Speaker 1 (26:52):
Hi?
Speaker 4 (26:53):
Gods, what's up with you?
Speaker 7 (26:56):
So the guys that I've been dealing with for a
couple of years, we we're in a situationship. So now
I want to stop it and he's trying to come back,
and it's like, no, I'm not gonna do that. So
I'm just trying to figure out what should I do.
I know I want to keep him as my friend.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
You think you could still be friends with somebody that
you had a situationship with that still wants to deal
with you.
Speaker 7 (27:22):
Yeah, we have been we have.
Speaker 9 (27:26):
What should I do?
Speaker 4 (27:28):
Either let him hit or not?
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Yeah, there's no real in between right now.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
I think you could only be friends like later on
in life when he's moved on. Because it's kind of
like a little carrot right there that you're dangling in
front of a rabbit.
Speaker 7 (27:41):
Okay, well he's helped me around my house and stuff.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Like what, so you're just using him?
Speaker 8 (27:50):
No?
Speaker 3 (27:50):
No, no, no, no?
Speaker 7 (27:51):
What in exchange? He got something?
Speaker 9 (27:53):
You got something too.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
You want to be friends, you still need help around
the house. You're just not trying to let him hit
no more?
Speaker 10 (27:59):
Right?
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Why don't you like him?
Speaker 7 (28:02):
I do like him, but I don't think he wants
a commitment.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
So you're saying, in other words, if you don't want
to commit, then I'm not giving.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
You the box no more.
Speaker 7 (28:10):
Damn that's it.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Well you got to stick to it.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Then if you cut it off and he comes back
around and it's like, you know what, I really do
like you, I really do want to be with you,
that's a whole nother story.
Speaker 7 (28:20):
But and that's what I'm waiting for him to do.
And because he keeps sending me stuff through Instagram, like
how a woman should be, how a wife should be,
and all this stuff. But you're not trying to commit
or you know, do those things.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
Yeah, send him what a husband should be.
Speaker 2 (28:35):
You know, sometimes you got to put your foot down
and let it be known. I am not going to
just let you do this. I know you helped me
around the house and stuff. But you're not going to
just have this and I'm looking for something more and
you're not. It doesn't work that way. It's got to
work for everyone.
Speaker 7 (28:50):
Yes, I agree, I appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Listen. If he steps up, great, If he doesn't, that's
on him.
Speaker 7 (28:56):
Yep, you hit it right on the nose.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
All right, Well, good luck, And that's.
Speaker 7 (28:59):
What I was doing. Okay.
Speaker 8 (29:00):
Can I shut myself of course?
Speaker 3 (29:03):
Nikki go ahead.
Speaker 7 (29:04):
Okay, it's on Instagram. It's Leni's castmetic La n Iq.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Okay, Lennie, all right, that's cute. I'm gonna go look
go looking.
Speaker 7 (29:14):
If you ever in Indianapolis and you need some makeup,
I got you. I do really good makeup.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Look at you. You cute too. Okay, thank you for calling.
Speaker 11 (29:23):
Thank you?
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Okay, thank you Nye.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
All right, Well, that would have been good for Maury
to join in on that. But guess what when we
come back, Me and may Don have Maury Povich here.
He's got a new podcast. It's called the On par
with a Maury Podcast. But when I tell you, he
is amazing to talk to. This man is eighty six
years old and you wouldn't believe it.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
It's way up.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
This is way up with Angela. Let's go. You are
a media maven, right.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
You never know what Ange's gonna say?
Speaker 3 (29:53):
What's up? This way up with Angela?
Speaker 10 (29:55):
Yee?
Speaker 3 (29:55):
And Mayo's here with me?
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Right?
Speaker 3 (29:57):
And this is amazing because we have somebody that we
can truly say is a legend on the show today. Absolutely,
Maury Provins is here and there you go. Welcome to
the show.
Speaker 10 (30:06):
Good to see you.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
And I've been on the Moury Show.
Speaker 10 (30:08):
Before some of my caught on tape stuff.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Sure it did. Yeah, just to be clear, that's what
I was thinking.
Speaker 10 (30:14):
Are you sure you weren't on the Paternity to Go?
Speaker 3 (30:18):
I don't have any kids.
Speaker 10 (30:23):
You don't want to come on our show now?
Speaker 4 (30:24):
I want to come on the new show show.
Speaker 10 (30:31):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
And you know what I love about this is a
whole different side of Mariy Povish that we get to
see because I feel like we've watched you as a
true journalist, and then we've watched you host The Mary Show,
which had an amazing run of thirty one years.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
One year, thirty one years.
Speaker 10 (30:46):
You were a kid, right, and you were staying home
from school. You were faking being so.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
I was going out the school, going around my building
waiting for my mother to go to work, and then
went back inside.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
I did the same thing.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
Nobody was doing shows like this like you come with
the lie detect, the test, the paternity test, right what
made you go in that area right there?
Speaker 10 (31:09):
I was always looking for stories that had drama and
had conflict and had most important a result, so that
the viewers knew at the end of the segment whether
they were the father or not, or whether this guy
was messing around on his significant other.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
Right now, I'm here with my guy man out and
we're talking to Maury Povich. You know, I saw your
episode with caramo Ah you dead yes, which was amazing,
and I saw you told him that element of surprise
and authenticity is really important when it comes to doing
what you do. And you didn't even know results ahead
of time, because that's.
Speaker 10 (31:45):
The best thing I ever saw.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
You never knew the results.
Speaker 10 (31:48):
The first time we ever did the paternity show, the
producer was briefing me and she says, and the results.
I said, you know, I don't want to know because
if I knew something more then I would skew questions
because I knew the answer. So the whole inflection that
ends up being the big iconic line, you are the
(32:08):
father or you're not the father, was because I was
as surprised as anybody.
Speaker 4 (32:13):
It's like a cliffhanger episode.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
And just went through that. We just did flash it
back to some old episodes and they got the same mouth.
Speaker 10 (32:24):
How about this, how about when you put the picture
of the baby up so a guy would come in
African America would come and he says, I will not
be the father of that child. That child is a
white child. Well his picture of a very light baby,
and he ends up for the father.
Speaker 4 (32:38):
Why did they always run though?
Speaker 10 (32:44):
Because either the guy you know, went crazy because he
thought he wasn't the father and he was, or the
woman found out that he wasn't the father and she
was sure he was the fires.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
Yeah, everybody's always sure and.
Speaker 10 (32:56):
They feel humiliated or embarrassed.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
The legend Rory Povich is here.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
He's got his own podcast now on par with Maury,
and he's given Meno all kinds of advice too. But
I mean classic classic Maury Povich moments. We got more
when we come back, it's way up, turn me up
here we go upgain.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
This is way Up with Angela Ye?
Speaker 3 (33:19):
What's up? His Way up with Angela?
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Yee.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
It's me and my brother, my best rapper friend, Mano,
and we are talking to Maury Povich. He's got a
new podcast on par with Maury. If you were Jimmy Kimmel,
what would you do?
Speaker 10 (33:30):
I would try to get back on the air. But
at the same time, don't tell me to apologize. I'll
explain what I did. I'll explain why I did it.
I will explain what I meant when I said it,
not what people thought I meant. But I'm not going
to apologize for something like that. And this is really
a serious thing, and I'll tell you why. It's because
(33:51):
the FCC chairman basically said, I'm going to go after
stations and their licenses if they that's what guys like
this on the air.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
It's illegal, right.
Speaker 10 (34:03):
I mean freedom of speech, baby, first Amendment.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
You think that he's going to try to make him apologize, Well.
Speaker 10 (34:09):
I think what happened was somebody I read something where
they had a meeting after these stations were going to
take that particular show off the air, and they asked
Jimmy to apologize, and he wouldn't and so that's when
they pulled the show.
Speaker 2 (34:22):
And even executives they don't think he necessarily did anything wrong.
It's just pressure from the president and this whole marriage
that they're trying to get done.
Speaker 10 (34:32):
Right because the owner of the station's next star that
pulled the show off their thirty ABC affiliates is trying
to buy another set of huge stations, and the law
doesn't allow them right now to own that many stations,
and so they, I mean, everybody thinks they took the
(34:52):
show off the air because they wanted the FCC approval
of this merger.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Yeah, and by the way, Brandan Carr from the FCC
also the same person that helped write part of Project twenty.
Speaker 10 (35:02):
Twenty five or you know a lot about this guy.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Right now, I'm here with my guy Mana and we're
talking to Maury Povich, and I want to say part
of what we're loving about this podcast is hearing more
about you and.
Speaker 10 (35:13):
Your life, about me and my father and my wife.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
And your mom.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
And I hear it, like in the first episode with
you and Connie time, just her talking about how much
she loves your parents, how much she loves your mom.
We heard about your road rage were heard about the age.
Speaker 10 (35:26):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
But that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
Is these moments and these stories because we also the
dynamic between you and Conyie is just amazing.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Even to see how long you guys.
Speaker 10 (35:37):
Crazy, nothing coming everything. You would not believe what's coming
out of her, Mane you never know. I mean, it's
just you know, we've been married over forty years now,
and so I mean, I think that man no sense
of humor. Baby, if you don't have a sense of
you got to have one. Your mate has to have.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
A mana wants to get married so bad. Yeah, Oh,
you are playing it, doesn't I'm doing it right now.
Speaker 10 (36:01):
I hope she has a sense she has to have it.
Do you have the woman?
Speaker 1 (36:04):
No, I'm playing the wedding.
Speaker 4 (36:08):
I want.
Speaker 10 (36:09):
I want to play in the wedding and then find
the one absolutely who said that the woman would like
the way you're planning.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
It's about me putting the cart before the horse. Sometimes
I gotta manifest this thing, hear me, I gotta, I
gotta put this thing into the universe. Come on, Maury,
Oh my god, I am the father.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
I'm so glad that I'm out the game. Right more.
Speaker 10 (36:28):
I haven't been in the game. It's so long. I mean,
pictures were black and white.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
Normally we would have last word when we come back,
but Maury Povich is here, and how could we not
let him have the last word.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
It's way up this yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
Yeah, way up with angel On. Now what it is?
Speaker 3 (36:52):
What's up his? Way up with Angela?
Speaker 1 (36:54):
Yee.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
Normally last word would be here, but I'm here with
Mano and we're enjoying our time with Maury Povich so
much that we had to let him take over.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
I want to talk about the podcast.
Speaker 10 (37:03):
Are you married?
Speaker 2 (37:04):
No, I'm not married, but I'm in a relationship long
she almost three years.
Speaker 10 (37:11):
Well, she dated like seven years off and on before
we got married.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
That's so you guys were not exclusive and about that
because then you bro I.
Speaker 10 (37:19):
Mean yeah, I mean she was in l a big
star in l A and dating all these.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
People thought she cheated, but it was really cheated.
Speaker 10 (37:32):
I went out with I went Jesus and then she say,
you can't even remember the first names of the people
you go out, because that's what she would tell me.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
She had some good ones though she had lived.
Speaker 8 (37:57):
Bignames.
Speaker 10 (37:58):
I don't know about it. She was never that specific.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
I can't, but I understanding. I was like, yeah, we
wasn't going to be exclusive.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
When did you say it's time to lock it in?
No more of this? Who said that? First?
Speaker 10 (38:21):
I asked her she didn't want to get married. Two
months later she calls me up and she says, we
can get married. And I said, really, how come? She says,
because I found a dress.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
I was like one of the first Paul couples did
before it became a thing on social media.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (38:38):
Well, power has been turned off.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
For a long time.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Right now, I'm here with my guy Mana and we're
talking to Maury Povich.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Now let me ask you this.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
So what made you say it's time for me to
do this podcast?
Speaker 10 (38:59):
But so too many people, I mean they started talking
to me about this thing, and then I thought, well,
nobody knows about this other life of mine before the
talk show. So I said, okay, I'll try it. So
we just finished our first season. We'll get you guys on.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
We would love to have to get you guys, and
by the way, get you on talk about the wedding.
Speaker 10 (39:20):
Absolutely, the venue.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
Picked out, deposit it picked out.
Speaker 10 (39:26):
If you see the future, so specifically with the event,
what's the mate look like?
Speaker 4 (39:33):
Beautiful sense of humor?
Speaker 3 (39:35):
BBL stop it.
Speaker 10 (39:37):
Have you have you ever ever met a person like that?
Speaker 4 (39:41):
In passing? I feel like I feel like everyone that
I met that was like that, Yeah, might have been crazy.
Speaker 10 (39:47):
Crazy does not work in a marriage.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
So you know, I will say, Mana likes to argue.
I think it gets him going, Like he'll come in
here certain days and he's on the phone arguing with
somebody and he loves it.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
Like he'll be like, oh my god, it's not crazy.
