let's just take a second.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
If you're having a day today. There's a lot of
activity here in Manhattan.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Actually have to drive past where nine to eleven took place,
so traffic was a little crazy. But we have to
give their grace today because it was definitely uh something
that a lot of people were affected by. So got
a flat tire today, so dealing with that also. But
here I am. We have a great guest joining us
(00:48):
today today. He's a New York Times best selling author.
His name is Shaka Sangor, and he has a book
out called How to Be Free, A Proven Guide to
Escaping LIFs hidden Prisons. So this is not just for
people who have been incarcerated. It's for people who have
their own self imposed prisons that they're living in. He
also wrote that book, Writing Your Wrongs, and he was
(01:08):
on Oprah. He recently was on Joe Rogan, but just amazing.
I love Shaka. He's from Detroit and he really really
is somebody that I find to be quite inspirational. We
are going to start the show off with some love
and some positivity. We're going to shine a light eight
hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. I have a
friend of mine who I'm so proud of, and I
(01:29):
want to shine a light on her. I just saw
this article on a new venture that she is going
to be doing, and we'll be discussing that when we
come back.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
But who do you want to spread some love? To
call us up? It's way up.
Speaker 3 (01:40):
Turn your lights on, y'all, light spread and love to
those who are doing greatness.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Shanna light on, shine a light on.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
It's time to shine a light on.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
All right, his way up? Put into la yee, Happy Thursday.
It's time to shine a light.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
And today want to shine a light on my really
really good friend, Ida Rajaguez. You know her as a comedian,
but also as a producer, also as an actress, and
she is now going to be starring opposite Alicia Pascal
Pennam and a new indie dramedy And that is why
I'm director Nicole Gomez Fischer, so shout out to her.
She actually has been shooting in New York and she'll
(02:18):
be shooting in Puerto Rico later this year. It's in
the aftermath of a hurricane as a Brooklyn artist who's
played by Ida and her daughter embark on a last
wish road trip across Puerto Rico with their terminally ill matriarch,
and that's when they uncovered deep family secrets. She posted
excited to share I'll be starring in and producing a
new drama called Hurricane Seasons.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Can't wait for you all to see this story come
to life.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
So shout out to magar Ida, who is always doing
amazing things, but not just that. She is so non
industry she literally like cannot stand playing the game and
doing all of those things. Really one of the most
authentic people who I know, brilliantly hilarious. Now, lamar who
do you want to shine a light on.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
I want to shine a light on the mother of
my kids. We got five kids together, we co parent.
I'm a truck driver, I'm always on the road, but
she hold it down. So I just want to shine
a light on her and I appreciate everything that she do.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Five kids is no joke.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Yeah, we got five boys, so we make it happen.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Though, Oh my god, five boys at that The amount
of energy in that house got to be wild.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
How did y'all get to a space of co parenting.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
I mean we were together for a while, you know,
since we was kids, and you know, we decided it's
a co parent but you know, we we make it work.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Was it difficult at first?
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Ah?
Speaker 5 (03:39):
Nah nah?
Speaker 4 (03:39):
We uh, we mature about the situation. So we just gotta,
you know, do.
Speaker 5 (03:43):
What we gotta do for these boards and raising.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
My rights to make sure we are in they life.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
What's shout out to her and shout out to you
for that.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
We love to hear successful co parenting stories most definitely.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
I appreciate it, all.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Right, thank you for colling well. That was shining Light
eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one fifty. If
you couldn't get through, you could always leave a message
in China.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Light that way. And when we come back, we got here.
Yee tee. Let's talk about young thug. He stays in
the news this time.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Kodak Black is involved in a couple of different ways.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
We have yeete next this way up shure.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
She's about to blow the lead ab off this spot.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
Let's get it.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Angelus building at yee tee, come and get to tea.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Oh man, it's way up at Angela yee and man,
what's up Dan.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
I'm having quite a morning.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Today, very much.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Let's get into some of this, yee te.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Now, Kodak Black, people were saying that he was drinking
lean and his attorney is saying the video of him
that people were concerned about that was making the rounds
on social media where it looks like he's drinking promethazine,
which is cough syrup, was actually not that, and apparently
his lawyer is saying it was just a prank. Here's
(04:52):
what Kodak Black sounded like in that video.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
I live in that giant row.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
That's living that giant row.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Yeah, I don't know if that's a good prank for
Kodak to know playing No. I actually met his attorney,
Bradford Cohen before so, but he says that, you know,
according to him, Kodak was just trolling people. Now, Boozy
and Kodak had a back and forth because apparently, you know,
Kodak feels like Kodak feels like Boosy should have spoken
(05:22):
up about young Thug. Well, Boosy said, Kodak, believe me
when it's trying to speak on a situation. I'm gonna
go speak, but it's business. I get a bag to
speak on these situations. And believe me, somebody come and
with it. You wrong, I shouldn't have energy at all
for this issue, with what I'm going through. And you
must be still mad about my remarks about you. Let
that ish go and admit you regret it. Now your
career been downhill ever since. So now the two of
(05:44):
them had a back and forth, and Boosy told him
get off the drugs and go get you some help.
Speaker 5 (05:49):
What do you think He's not wrong?
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Boosy's not wrong.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Boosy got a lot going on to by the way,
like I'm sure he's not thinking about like, let me
talk about this man's situation. So I thought that whole
exchange what's pretty interesting. Now in another story dealing with Kodak,
there's another lead call now where Mariah, Mariah the scientist,
is telling young thug that Kodak.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Was trying to holler at her. Here is what it
sounded like, Hey, no.
Speaker 6 (06:15):
Me coming at you don't mean all we do will
come up come up under new situation on the line,
because my whole But in the meantime, probably you know
I've been up about you and I just can't do
that direct. I'll love to come kind of times, did
she base? You know it's Queen's treatment. Only guess what
I said. I got a man, and I ain't going
against what I guy.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
She First of all, I hate that these calls are
leaking out because these are things that like you would
never I'm and I'm sure this probably really happened.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
I'm sure she's so embarrassed right now.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
Yeah, but let's also not forget that. Kodak in twenty nineteen,
reached out to Lauren London.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
After passed Yeah, Kodak Stephane for him.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
He do not care and you know he's playing pranks
right now in his car allegedly all right now. Bad
Bunny revealed the reason that he chose not to include
the US and its upcoming tour is because he's has
fears that Ice will raid his shows. He told ID
in an interview that was published yesterday, there were many
(07:15):
reasons why didn't show up in the US, and none
of them were out of hate. I performed there many times.
All of the shows have been successful, all of them
have been magnificent. I've enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have
been living in the US, but specifically for a residency.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Here in Puerto Rico.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
When we are an unincorporated territory of the US, people
from the US should come here to see the show,
and he was concerned that Ice might organize outside of
shows if he did include the US and his upcoming tour.
He said Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the US could
also travel here or to any part of the world,
but there was this issue of like effing ice could
be outside, and it's something that we were talking about
(07:50):
and very concerned about. Can you imagine you're trying to
do a show and then Ice rounds people up outside.
That is awful, awful that people didn't have a chance
to experience that because of what's happening here.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
I also love that stance that he made though.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
That's amazing because you're not much money he would have made.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
You know how much money he brought into Puerto Rico.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
Butt so much money, hundreds of millions. I think that
is something that is a great example for people to follow.
All Right, when we come back about last night where
we discussed what we did last night, I had a
night last night of morning this morning, still trying to get.
Speaker 1 (08:19):
Through it, guys, push through. It's way up night.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
So about last night, yes, I went down.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
All right his way up at Angela yee. And it's
time for about last night now, y'all. I've been working
non stop, so last night I was actually getting lip
service together. And Tia Savage is coming up soon. Jocelyn
is coming up soon. We had both of them last night.
Everybody's in town for fashion week. You know, one thing
that Jocelyn and I had a back and forth about
(08:51):
was her Jocelyn's cabaret. I know y'all saw the viral
clip where for fifty thousand dollars the women had to
eat roaches. And I don't think I could do that
for fifty thousand dollars. Now, we asked everyone in the
room last night if they could do it. I don't
know if you always capping or what, but I'm ask
in this room right now.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
What do you think Dan, my producer.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Could no hesitation?
Speaker 1 (09:15):
You would eat it?
Speaker 5 (09:16):
Hesitate that roach? Just a pregnant rope closer eyes.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
All right, Navy, if.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
We are you know what, never min I'm not gonna
ask him because he eats anything.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
I'm not even gonna ask him because just one. Just one.
You eat more than one.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Those roaches were huge, though, and they I think I
would throw I don't know what I could do because
I'm such a picky eater already.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
Fifty fifty K. But cash is in front of you
fifty K.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Let's be honest, though.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
You know me, and you know how much I don't eat,
like there's I am my palette for things that I
don't even like. The consistency of it is so hard
for me. I don't know if I could pull it.
And you have to like chew it. You can't hold
your nose. You gotta swallow everything. Fifty thousand dollars a
big fat roach. You said anybody would do it? Like,
(10:05):
there's nobody that's gonna say no. You think that nobody
would turn that down?
Speaker 5 (10:09):
I think you have to be like elite rich.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Could you put if I could put hot sauce on it?
Speaker 5 (10:14):
No, it's fine how it is, and it's rosy.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
You can't cook it, could I.
Speaker 5 (10:17):
Fifty It doesn't even matter that some.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Flowers and egg flowers, breadcrumbs, right, because people do eat
things like crickets and other places.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
People eat s cargo that's snails.
Speaker 5 (10:27):
I loves cargo. That's good.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
See, that's what I'm saying. This is easy for you.
I don't eat stuff like that.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Stuff like that and roaches are two very different things.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
There's a lot of things that I don't eat. Like
I don't eat rabbit. I'm not eating rabbit.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
I don't think it's just like I don't.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Even eat seafood.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
Yeah, that's your fault.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
But so what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
But that's why this is in particularly hard for me,
like because it's a I'm so ridiculously like just the
thought of things make me disgusting.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
I think ninety nine point nine percent of people would
do it. Fifty k's in front of you. Here's a real.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
I don't know man, and I'm from Brooklyn. You know
we've seen a lot of roaches. All right, Well, I
want to see what you guys think. Eight hundred two
ninety two fifty one fifty call us up. Would you
eat a roach? And I'm not blaming y'all because I
wish I could say yet, and I would try, but
I don't know if I could get it down.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
I don't know if I could what if it was
still alive too?
Speaker 5 (11:22):
You close your eyes.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Eight hundred do it ninety two fifty one fifty. Do
you think you guys could eat a roach? Remember that
show Fair factor for fifty thousand dollars, that's eight hundred
two ninety two fifty one fifty.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Call us up more, way up with Angela ye eat on.
Speaker 6 (11:36):
Now do you know what it is?
Speaker 5 (11:37):
You know who it is?
Speaker 1 (11:38):
Yeah, it's way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
And today we were having this conversation based off of
lip service. We filmed the lip service last night Jocelyn
was on and on Jocelyn's Cabaret. One of the challenges
for fifty thousand dollars was the women had to eat
a roach.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
I can't do it.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
I'm just being honest, Like I would love to sit
here and be like, yes, for fifty thousand dollars, I
would eat a big, fat roach, no worries. Now, Dan,
you said you could do it, no hesitation. Navy said
he would do it for one hundred dollars. So that
was interesting. But we want to hear from you guys.
For fifty thousand dollars, would you eat a roach? And
I'm not talking about like a little tiny you know.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
Bull size, all fine bull.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Size roast that could glide through the air. No, potentially pregnant.
We can't even but it's fat of fat roachs.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Whatever we want to know.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Can you do it? Still alive? Eight hundred two nine
fifty Patricia? Would you eat a roach for fifty k?
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Hell no, I wouldn't do it for a million dollars
in front of me? Not doing it?
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Nope, not for a million dollar? Okay, now a million
dollars I might.
Speaker 4 (12:46):
I'm not for a million dollars. I'm not doing it.
Speaker 6 (12:49):
Money does not mean that much to me for me
to be eat a damn roach.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
Well are you a picky eater in general or it's
just the idea.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Of the roach. Yes, yes, I'm a very peaky So
you're like me. I can't eat nothing. Thought of things
makes me want a gag.
Speaker 6 (13:04):
Yeah, I'm like you.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
All right, Well, thank you for calling.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
You're welcome.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Hey, rimo, how are you?
Speaker 7 (13:10):
I'm good with sowing on?
Speaker 6 (13:11):
How are you?
Speaker 1 (13:12):
I'm good? Thank you?
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Would you eat a roach alive and fat legs up
in the air.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
I'm gonna eat that roach like it's the last supper?
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Ooh, oh my god.
Speaker 7 (13:24):
And I'm a picky eat I don't even eat seafood.
I don't even eat hamburgers, but I'll eat that roach
like it's the last supper.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Okay, I'm not mad at that.
Speaker 7 (13:31):
Listen for fifty k I'm star.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Give me anything, all right, thank you, thank you?
Speaker 6 (13:36):
How a going?
Speaker 1 (13:36):
Hey key? Would you eat a roast for fifty thousand dollars? Absolutely?
No way, no way.
Speaker 6 (13:43):
The money sounds good, but it just when happens.
Speaker 7 (13:46):
Are you doing?
Speaker 6 (13:47):
I got naunxious when y'all were saying, and I'm like,
who wants to eat a roach? Fifty gland?
Speaker 1 (13:51):
That's you think your kids would do it?
Speaker 6 (13:54):
My daughter said she will definitely do it, and my
year say, and he would do it, but he had
to put it on the grill and cook it.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
Me.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
No, you can't do it. It's got to be fat
and raw, you know, can't eat anything too. This is
the time you start training him. I'm getting not all right,
I'm sorry. Well, thank you for calling.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
Thank you and listen to you every day.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
I appreciate it. Thank you.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
I'm feeling hey angie, hey hey, would you eat a
roach for fifty thousand dollars?
Speaker 8 (14:33):
No?
Speaker 7 (14:34):
I was broke, hell no, oh my god.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
That's what I'm saying I was trying to tell Jocelyn.
I was like, I don't think I could do it.
Sh It was like fifty kets lost. They were in
this room trying to convince me that I'm crazy for
not wanting to do it, and I don't think I
could do it. I'm glad you're Whitney crazy.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
I'll be crazy.
Speaker 6 (14:56):
Hi, my name is Crazy. Hello.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Okay, oh Dan, you think she's bugging bugging, she's a buggy.
All right, thank you for calling. We got it all right, Dancy,
I'm not crazy. A lot of people say they wouldn't
do it.
Speaker 5 (15:11):
I don't believe it, Okay, I really don't.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Money doesn't move some people.
Speaker 2 (15:14):
They don't care how much money in one hundred million,
thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
It don't even matter more for me. All right. Well, anyway,
when we come back, we got to your yet.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
I feel like we've been quiet with the Diddy news,
but now we have some updates on this next court hearing,
as his attorneys are going to be arguing for his acquittal,
will give you those details.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
It's way up, they say in the rooms.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
From industry shade to all of gossip out send angelas
spilling that yet.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
It's way up with Angela yen. It's time for your
yea tea and let's talk about Neo. He was on
Kaisin That's Mafiathan three stream, and one of the things
that he talked about was his love life. Of course,
I think that's always the topic of a conversation. He's
in his polyamorris relationship. He has four women that move
with him regularly. Here's what he had to say about
(16:03):
different arguments, and how do you get past that if
one get.
Speaker 6 (16:06):
You mad or you met at everybody else.
Speaker 9 (16:08):
I try not to do that, you know, if it's
the same thing as y'all all friends, Like if he
put you off and you just off so like you're
not going to respond to him the way you're chilling.
Yeah right, it's the same thing with the same thing
with them.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
He also says that what he does is what's best
for him, what it's best for his kids and his tribe.
He said, I was married before to one woman and
didn't go well. I made my mistakes and they got
divorced and so people got hurt. He said he wasn't
gonna lie ever again about anything. And as far as
why these four women are complimenting him. So well, here's
(16:43):
what he said.
Speaker 9 (16:44):
One is a little more serious than everybody else.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
She's the reliable one. I have the one that I
laugh with all the time. Everything is funny all day long.
And she's what she does.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
I have my ride up.
Speaker 9 (16:53):
If I was getting jumped, she'd jump and helped me.
And then I have my ecclected. She's the dancer, she's
you know, she's she's my artist. You know, everybody has
their own thing.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
My girlfriends, That's what it sounds like, right. They each
have a different role. I am sorry, there's a lot
of guys in this room. I know y'all can't navigate
four women.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
I'm happy with my one, right.
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Can you imagine having to deal with all of that?
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Nope, because as much as you mess up, you know
what I'm saying, And she has to let you know, Dan,
what are you doing?
Speaker 1 (17:23):
Imagine four women being like Dan, what are you doing?
All right now?
Speaker 2 (17:28):
On the flip side of things, Summer Walker at the
MTV Video Music Awards was there with a much older
man and she had some things to say to let
people understand what's going on with her.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
She was streaming live and one person was.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Like, you don't need a sugar daddy because you know
you're doing pretty well on your own as an artist.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Here's what she said. You don't need a sugardaddy. You
are your own sugar daddy.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
I don't care if I got my own money, Y'all'm
sitting here for my own Money's fine, Your money is fine.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Two different points of view here, ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
But you know, people are doing whatever works for them
in their own relationships. And the hearing for Ditty's quest
for an acquittal or neutrial has been set. That court
hearing is going to be taking place September twenty fifth
and Manhattan. Now, his attorneys are asking the judge to
either throw out the conviction or give him a new trial.
Federal prosecutors are saying that Diddy does not deserve a
(18:26):
new trial or acquittal because there was more than sufficient
basis to support his conviction on the two counts of
transportation to engage in prostitution. Now, the court hearing on
Ditty's requests will come a week before he's scheduled to
be sentenced, so that sentencing is October third, So again
that's going to be September twenty fifth is that hearing.
(18:48):
Those hearings haven't been going well. But what I will
say is, you know he got charged within a convicted
of way less things than people.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
Thought that he would.
Speaker 2 (18:59):
All right, well that is your Yet when we come back,
we have your under the radar stories. These are the
stories that you need to know about, but they may
be flying under the radar. One of them is about
using your phone and hemorrhoids and the risk and that
I know you'll be on that toilet scrolling, sending out
memes to people. Well, maybe you need to get off,
all right, it's way up.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Take the news news.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
It's way up at Angela ye, and it's time for
the under the radar stories. Now, this story is for
anybody who sits on the toilet for a long period
of time while using their phone. That's where a lot
of people go to get some peace, right, And according
to a report, there are a higher rate of hemorrhoids
when you bring your phone into the bathroom. That's Has
(19:45):
anybody here ever had a hemorrhoid? No, it's very personal,
so yes, you no, I haven't the spy. I can
answer it easily. I feel like you have and that's
why you don't. Next question, all right, well, it's very
uncomfortable from what I've heard. And you know, people sit
on there and they use the toilet and send out memes.
I already know when my man is on the toilet,
(20:07):
I'm gonna get a whole bunch of memes boot blue
bloo and yeah, that's so be careful. That's all I'm saying.
Don't stay on the toilet longer than you have.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
It doesn't make sense.
Speaker 1 (20:15):
All right.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Now, New Mexico is the first date to offer universal childcare.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
That's the first date in.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
The country to guarantee universal childcare to families who reside there,
and families will be eligible for infant and toddlers starting
November first, no matter what your income is.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
This is a groundbreaking initiative.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
And this is gonna save over twelve thousand dollars per
child annually with this initiative.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
So that's huge. That's a reason to move to New
Mexico because child care is ridiculously expensive.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
Every station you get on that trend. What do we
have to do?
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Uh, I'm not going to say it, you know, wait
to the next election. That's all, and that's why elections matter, guys.
All right, now, let's talk about this whole Charlie Kirk situation.
They are saying that the suspect who shot and killed
Charlie Kirk is a college age male who blended in well.
(21:10):
So when they say blended in well, to me, that
means he's white because it would have definitely stuck out
if he wasn't, because it was definitely in Utah where
there were a whole lot of white people. The Utah
Department of Public Safety commissioner has asked the public to
stop harassing the two persons of interest who were cleared
US suspects.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
So we've seen pictures. One was like an older man.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
They had him on the ground, so it's not him,
but I guess people are still harassing him. There's been
more than one hundred and thirty tips about the shooting
that were sent to the FBI. The FBI does have
images of the suspect, but they have not released them
at this time. They did say that as they're trying
to track down who this person is, if they need help,
then they'll release that to the public. But for now,
(21:50):
I guess they're working and tracking the suspected shooters movements
using that security footage. The shooter moved to the other
side of the building after the shooting, jumped off of
the building and ran off the campus into a neighborhood
from the roof. Yes, from the roof, they moved to
the other side. So that is the update I saw.
You know, Charlie Kirk has been training. There's a whole
(22:11):
lot of different emotions about how people feel, and there's
some lack of emotion about how people feel about his shooting.
But nine one one callers have been calling in saying
that they saw the suspected shooter on campus and there
is currently a man hunt underway. So we will keep
you updated and that is your under the radar. We
do have the Way Up Mix at the top of
the hour, and we have New York Times bestselling author
(22:33):
and resilience expert Shaka Sangor joining us. His book How
to Be Free is out a proven god to escaping
life's hidden prisons. You are going to absolutely love this conversation.
It's way up way. She's like the chout like they
angela Jean, like they angela Jean Man.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
She's spilling it all.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
This is yet way up.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
It's way up at Angela yee and it is time
for your yee t. But first a quick update. I
know earlier and under the radar, we were talking about
the suspect in the Charlie Kirk shooting. Well, the Feds
have released an image of a person of interest and
they are asking for the public's help in identifying this
person in connection with that fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk
(23:14):
at Utah Valley University. So you can see he's a
white male, he's got a shirt with the American flag
on it. He's got on some sunglasses, and so that
is the latest update. Earlier they hadn't released that image. Yes, Dan, No, okay,
all right, now let's get into some yet now. Angel
Reese is definitely there's some comments that she made that
(23:39):
people felt like she shouldn't have made. She told the
Chicago Tribune that this guy can't rely on Courtney to
come back at the age that she's at. She wants
the front office to add a younger, championship tested guards.
She also criticized the team's a recent free agency and
said she would consider a different direction if Chicago didn't
improve well, because of that, this guys suspended for half
(24:01):
a game because she made statements that were detrimental to
the team publicly, and then also ruled her out for
the second half that night due to a back issue.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Well.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
On Wednesday's episode of The Good follow Up podcast, Angel maccatree,
who was a WNBA legend, had some things to say.
You know, she does know Angel Reese. They went to
the same high school, even though she's older than her.
And here's what she told Angel Reech she should do
in order to get back into a leadership position and
get back the trust of her teammates.
Speaker 8 (24:29):
You're not the only one having a bad season. Your
teammates are having a bad season too. But here's the difference.
They don't have million dollar deals, endorsement deals.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
You're so blessed.
Speaker 8 (24:37):
One of your teammates might not even see fifty thousand dollars.
You know what I would do, Angel, I would get
one of my endorsements, say give me an extra hundred
thousand so I can give all my teammates ten just
to show them my care.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Okay, I mean, I think, what do you think about that?
Speaker 5 (24:53):
As a she's a vet, I hear you, but I
also think that like money is a superficial fix. It's
not like fixing the problem. It's just like paying you
off type of thing.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
I get it, But sometimes people can be like, okay,
if you want to apologize, that's how people always apologize,
like you know, here's some money, here's some gifts as
a step towards somebody. I mean, I don't know that
that's a fix it because you can't just do that
and then nothing else after that. It has to be
like incorporated into like I just want to apologize, because
the truth is she is making more money than everybody else.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
Yeah, that's a fact, but it's.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Kind of like having a job and being able to
deal with a lot more if you're getting paid more
rather than you know, I don't know. It was just
a suggestion that Angel mccawtrey had. I don't know if
that's a fix because it feels like it's a lot
deeper than that, all right, Speaking of fixing things. Keith
Lee is a resident of Texas now and he shared
(25:46):
that he and his family had been sick for several weeks.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
They didn't know what was going on.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
You know him as a very famous food critic, a
former MMA fighter. He has over fifteen million followers on
TikTok and over two point six million on Instagram. Well,
they moved to Dallas after living in Vegas for ten years,
and now they are having some issues.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Apparently even though the home.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Was inspected three to four times, they didn't realize there
were some issues in the bathroom.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Here's what he said.
Speaker 10 (26:12):
When we moved in, we got an inspection. We got
like three or four different inspections. Not once was there
anything wrong with our bathroom. Right since we've been in here.
We saw a crack that went from our shower over
to the wall, and when we had our cleaning ladies come,
she noticed it was mold inside that crack. So we
had somebody come and dig up where our tub was
to see.
Speaker 5 (26:32):
What's under there.
Speaker 10 (26:33):
And look was under here, all that black stuff mold.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
We've been getting sick for the last three weeks. That
is so annoying.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
And I want to say when people are doing their
bathrooms over, if anybody's renovating, you have to get the
proper materials that are waterproof because if not, you are
definitely one thousand percent going to get mold.
Speaker 5 (26:50):
That's also on the inspectors.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Though sometimes you have to cut open things though to
see because a lot of times people who are renovating homes,
when they're trying to do these quick flips, they do
things that can be hidden. And if your inspector's not
going to cut a hole or see that there was
a crack and then that crack was, you know, getting bigger.
If there was no crack, they would have never seen
the mold. And so people can hide things like that.
(27:12):
So unfortunately for him, you know, that's going to be expensive.
I saw the pictures of them, but it's something you
have to fix because because people can get really sick
from that. And I think it's just deceitful that people
try to flip these houses and sell them and not
take care of these root issues because black mold can
cause things like exema, asthma, infections, respiratory issues, all kinds
(27:32):
of things.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
All right, Well that is your yee t.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
When we come back, we have ask yee eight hundred
two ninety two fifty one fifty called us up. Any
question you have, I'm here to help you out again.
That's eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty Call
us up.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Ask yee.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Is next, whether it's relationship for career advice. Angela's dropping facts.
You should know if this is ask.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
Gee, what's up?
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Its way up at Angela Yee and it's time for
ask yee. Eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty
is a number. Any question you have, we are here
to help you out. And today we have Sam on
the line. What's up, Sam?
Speaker 7 (28:04):
Hi?
Speaker 8 (28:05):
How are you?
Speaker 1 (28:06):
I'm doing good? How about you? Okay, I'm listening.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
So I was at the grocery store and.
Speaker 9 (28:12):
The guy in front of me paid for my groceries
and nothing happened, to give him a number, nothing, but
you know, just went home.
Speaker 7 (28:18):
I was my boyfriend about my day and I brought.
Speaker 6 (28:20):
It up to him in bed.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Now, how would you feel if a woman paid for
his groceries?
Speaker 6 (28:25):
I wouldn't be a set like as long as he
doesn't talk to her get her numbers like.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
But I'm fine with that money for me.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
I don't always think that people have intentions, but that
doesn't mean that they don't. And so while you might
innocently have looked at it that way as I would
have to, I think that you have to take into
consideration that he feels a way about it. And just
because you know it was innocent doesn't mean that he
doesn't feel away. So sometimes I think you have to acknowledge. Okay,
(28:54):
I had no idea. I wasn't even looking at it
the way that you're looking at it.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
And I understand where you're coming from. But do you
understand where he's coming from.
Speaker 9 (29:02):
I think it's immature, but I kind of I.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Don't think he's being unreasonable. It's just a difference in
how we view things. And I do think that men
and women look at things differently. Where you're just looking
at it like somebody did something nice. I'm not interested.
I got a man who cares save myself some money.
He's looking at it like man, somebody feels like I
could just come up to my woman and buy her groceries,
which means that it looks like he could just take
(29:25):
her on a date next. Now you know, moving forward,
if this were to happen again, what would you do?
Speaker 1 (29:30):
I won't tell him, Yeah, maybe you shouldn't have.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
And listen and you can tell him. I did not
have no malice, there was no bad intentions. I wasn't
thinking nothing of it. But I understand where you're coming from,
and in the future, I will for sure take your
feelings into consideration and make sure that this doesn't happen again.
Or yeah, and if you don't tell him it didn't happen.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
No, I'm kidding.
Speaker 5 (29:57):
Use a lot of groceries like extra expensive.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
So I'm like, okay, I'll thank you, right, you like
I should have got more?
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (30:04):
No, I feel you right.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
He's probably insecure, does he normally give you cause to me,
it is a little bit of a sign of insecurity.
It's a thing about respect though, so it's like all
of those different things mixed in, and sometimes it could
be indicative of something else going on in the relationship.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
I don't know if you'll have other issues. We don't,
and that's why it was so surprised.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
Yeah, I'm just like, you don't trust me, Like I thought.
Speaker 7 (30:26):
We could laugh about it.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Well, I think it's not that he don't trust you.
Is he don't trust that guy? But I do think
you know, relationships are about compromise. And while you may
be like it ain't nothing, that's no big deal. You're
not about to be put your man over some groceries.
Speaker 6 (30:41):
They're right, I'll apologize and cook.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Dinner with those groceries that that man pay for. All right, well,
thank you for calling and good luck.
Speaker 9 (30:54):
Thank me.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
All right, Well that was ask ye eight hundred and
two ninety two fifty one fifty. Just in case you
couldn't get through, you could leave a message and ask
a question that way. And when we come back, oh man,
speaking of egos and insecurities. Shaka Segar is going to
be joining us, and he has a book called How
to Be Free, a proven guide to escaping life's hidden
prisons and you don't want to be in prisoned by
(31:16):
those things. He's a New York Times best selling author.
He also wrote the book Writing My Wrongs. He's been
featured on Oprah Winfrey and he's just playing amazing.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
It's way up in no.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Beg of Memo's famous women in radio vidio. We're talking
about Angela Ye. You're way up with angela ye.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
Please believe that.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
What's up? His way up buddy, Angela yee.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
I'm here with my guy Maino and of course New
York Times best selling author Shaka Segar is here with us.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
We have a new book, How to Be Free. So
congratulations on that.
Speaker 5 (31:46):
Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 11 (31:47):
I'm super excited.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
All right, So this book is a proven guide to
escaping life's hidden prisons. First of all, I want to
say this, you did Joe Rogan's podcast, Yeah, and I
saw that there were some people that of course there
was some backlass because I think about different audiences, right,
hearing your story for the first time, because I feel
like we know from when Oprah had you on. Yeah,
I feel like, you know, Joe Rogan's fans may not
(32:10):
have all been privy to hearing that.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (32:13):
I mean, you know, the people in the comments section
think I wrote this new book for them because they're
trapped in their own hidden prisons of being haters and
in judgmental like judgment right.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
Why would they be coming as somebody like you.
Speaker 11 (32:26):
I think a lot of them people get stuck in
my old story.
Speaker 7 (32:28):
Right.
Speaker 11 (32:28):
So I went to prison for nineteen years, seven years
of solitary confinement, and over the last fifteen years I've
had an incredible amount of success. And so people don't
think that when you've made a poor decision, that you're
actually deserving of any type of success.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
Right.
Speaker 11 (32:43):
When I talk to young people, would always say is
just like you know, you have to own your own narrative.
Otherwise the world will try to tell you who you
are the reasons. So many don't own their own narrative
because they don't even recognize the way that these hitting
prisons show up in their lives, like trauma. So when
I was writing about my brother, and my brother was
murdered in twenty twenty one, and I was sitting there
and I was watching my mother go through this grieving process,
(33:06):
and I started feeling this overwhelming sense of guilt, and
so I couldn't even fully grieve for my brother because
what I realized in that moment, I made somebody else's
mother feel like that. And so that was my hit
in prison was that I couldn't really grievee And what
I ended up doing is I ended up writing a
letter to the person responsible for murdering my brother. And
through that process of just exercising that emotion, I started
(33:29):
to kind of free myself up and develop this deep
sense of gratitude for the experience I had with my brother.
So the unlock for me was gratitude is how I
navigated grief.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Right now, I'm talking to New York Times best selling
authors Shaka Sangor. You know, people talk about forgiveness a
lot because you wrote that letter, right, And sometimes people
are like, how could you forgive somebody who did something
like that? But you I listened to you on Oprah
and you talked about the forgiveness that you received, and
a lot of times we want forgiveness from people and
reappreciate that. But then when it's time for us to
(34:02):
turn around and forgive somebody, that's a hard thing to do.
Speaker 5 (34:05):
Absolutely.
Speaker 11 (34:06):
In the book, one of the things that I talk
about is I received a letter from the guy who
shot me. You know, I got shot when I was
seventeen years old. This is three decades later. He's in prison.
Now he's been he's actually been in prison, but we
never was at the same prison. And my initial reaction
wasn't the thoughtful person that believes in redemption I'm really
respecting in prison. It don't take much for me to just.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
Be like, I'm gonna put on thousand dollars on your book,
take care of due, right.
Speaker 11 (34:31):
And what I realized in that moment was like, this
is the universe saying what do you really believe about
second chances? What do you really believe about forgiveness? And
so I started actually to write him a letter back,
and then I decided to actually write my mother, who
I was in the process of healing our relationship with,
and I realized I didn't owe him a letter. I
accepted the apology. I accepted that, and for me, it's
(34:54):
really like forgiveness was for me. It wasn't really about him, right,
you know what I mean? And then so with my
mom became more important. Forgiveness is very complex because I
thought I had forgave my mother, and then what I
realized I forgave her with conditions. Because sometimes we think that, oh,
I forgave you, but then you do one thing that
I dislike. And now I'll take.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
Fifteen steps back to Shaka Segor is here with us.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
How to Be Free is his new book. He's a
New York Times best selling author. You also know his
amazing book Writing My Wrongs. You've seen him on with
Oprah with Joe Rogan.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Now he's here.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
We got more with him when we come back. It's
a proven guide to escaping life's hidden prisons.
Speaker 1 (35:31):
It's way up, more way up with Angela on now.
Speaker 9 (35:35):
What it is?
Speaker 1 (35:37):
What's up? Way put Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
I'm here with my guy Mano and we're talking to
Shaka Sangor, New York Times bestselling author. He's a resilience expert.
He has a new book out right now called How
to Be Free. Managing your anger is a large part
of what you talk about in this book. So what
are some tips that you have for how to handle that.
Speaker 11 (35:54):
I started journaling, and it's what I call active journaling.
You write it down so you could be clear about it,
but then what are the action steps you're going to
take to heal from it? And for me, I would
write when I was in solitary, whenever I would like
find myself like really really angry, like my neighbor blew
the power out one time, I'm living writing in my
journal like yo, when I get on, I'm a shank dog,
(36:14):
blah blah, you know what I mean. But then I
would go back and read it because that was the
active part. And I was reading it one day and
I was like, this sounds like a mad man. This
is not how I see myself, but this is really
who I've become, right, And so I knew, like if
I wanted to be a different person, I had to
heal that person.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
You talk about the keys to releasing anger, right write
down your anger, identify primary emotion, create a counter mantra,
and then meditate to release anger. So no, just thinking
about working through that, because what I love is at
the end of each chapter you are giving people, you know,
just really like the tools to dig deeper. You call
it digging deeper.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Absolutely, yeah.
Speaker 11 (36:51):
And what I love about the Digging Deeper chapters is
you notice there's like a little door at the top.
And the door is because I wanted people to know
that you can access this anytime. You can come in
and out, because that's life, right. Sometimes you're going to
get it right, and sometimes you're going to take a
little step back, and it's like, once you take that
step back, just know that you can go back to
these tools and it'll help release you from that hit
(37:12):
in prison.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
Right now, I'm talking to New York Times best selling
author Shaka Sangor. Now, another thing that was really impactful
in your life was marriage, and see Lizy here too. Now,
one thing you were gifted was mirrors. The elder who
gifted the mirror said to you, and marriage, you become
a mirror to your partner. What you reflect is what
you will receive in return. If you reflect love patients
are understanding, you will get that back. But if you
(37:34):
reflect anger, resentment, or indifference, that too will come.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
Back to you.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
A happy marriage is built not just on love, but
on the reflections you choose to create every day. And
you talk about love being an active choice.
Speaker 11 (37:45):
Yeah, absolutely, and it's marital love, but it's also self
love and it's also relational love and friendship and all
those things are like really the primary drivers in life
to me. And it all comes back to self love
because that's what eradicates doubt, negative self talk. And when
you're in relation with anybody, like you're only going to
(38:05):
get out of it what you put into it, right,
And it doesn't mean it's like perfect. Like sometime that
mirror is dirty and dusty and straight stuff and you
gotta clean it off and you got to get back
to like, Okay, why didn't we show up in each
other's life in the first place? And I'm fortunate and
lucky to have a brilliant, beautiful wife and that makes
me happy.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
Lastly, I want to end with this part. You said,
the one thing I right for used to do was
get stuck in a loop of negativity. The moment a negative,
the service. I counted it with positive affirmations. These are
like real things you know that we can do, you said.
I meditated on gratitude, grounding myself and the blessings I
already had rather than the challenges I faced. It's all
about a commitment to shifting my mindset. It wasn't just
(38:43):
about pushing through. It was about creating a foundation of
self belief that allowed me to see possibilities instead of
obstacles and to keep moving forward with hope and purpose. Absolutely,
and I think that's impactful. Well, Shaka, thank you so
much for joining us. I really appreciate you, and I
know you respect all over on tour so people can
check you out right.
Speaker 11 (39:03):
Hell up on me Detroit, I'm coming to Atlanta, all
over La, you name it, I'm there. So I'm super excited.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Thank you so much to Shaka Sangor for joining us today.
And you can must that put interview on my YouTube channel.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
Way up with Ye.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
Make sure you get that new book, How to Be Free,
a proving guide to escaping life's hidden prisons.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
And when we come back, you guys have the last word.
Take up the phone.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Tapping it gets your voice heard.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
What the word big here's the last word on Way
Up with Angela ye.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
All right, it's way up with Angela Yee. And I'm
looking at all this information about these messages with Charlie
Kirk and what happened with that. You know, they're looking
for this person of interest. The alleged shator had political
messages allegedly on the equipment that was brought.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
To the murder scene.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
So you know, it's too early for me to say
what's really happening, so I don't want to, but I'm
just taking a look at what's being reported right now.
But anyway, I want to thank you guys for calling
in today. Also want to thank our guest today, Shaka Sangor,
for joining us. His book How to Be Free is
out right now, our proven guide to escaping life's hidden prisons,
(40:12):
a lot of actionable things that can be done, and
just telling y'all all be safe. I saw maybe with
saying that a lot of the HBCUs are canceling classes
right now on campus and the wake of everything that's
been happening.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
All right, well, this is your show, So you have
