And yeah, what's good. It's way up at the Angela.
It's Friday.
Speaker 3 (00:16):
Hey, husband, friend, it's actually Angela Yee day Eve.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Yeah, it's Angela Yee d Jube Yes, yes, yes, yes,
he day is tomorrow here in birthdays. So excited. You'all
better all come out because it's going to be so
much fun. When I tell you there's people coming that,
I am surprised. You're like, I'm coming to you day.
So that's really dope to me. So I'm excited to
see all of y'all. And in celebration of that, Mashall
Montano is going to be joining us today. He's actually
(00:42):
performing at the Barclays on Sunday. The number one soca artist,
the King of Soka, is going to be joining us
on way up.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
But let's get this show started with some love and suppositivity.
Let's shine a light eight hundred two nine two fifty
one fifty Call us up. Let us know who you
would like to shine a light on. It's way up.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Turn your lights on, y'all, spreading love to those who
are doing greatness.
Speaker 5 (01:08):
Hina, light on them, shine the light on them. It's
time to shine a light on them.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
What's up? His way up at Angela Yee and Jasmine
Brand is here with me today.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
What's up Angela?
Speaker 2 (01:19):
And it's time to shine a light? And today I
want to shine a light. I'm on my journey to
learn more about like plants. You know, I did outside
my house, like have a lot of plants done, but
now inside I want to make sure for breathing purposes
and also like plants are good with dusts, plants to
eat bugs and stuff like that. So I had mentioned,
you know, I want to really get into my plant era.
(01:40):
I've been buying plants, and I want to shout out
to plant Topia. I purchased a bunch of plants from them.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
They're beautiful.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
By the way, I think that sometimes when you go
to certain places, like you bring the plants home and
they die right away. Yeah, yeah, And I thought it
was my fault at first, but then I also realized now,
like I'm learning a lot of different things about quality,
about how often you have to water, it, about plants
that can't be in direct sunlight. And so it's been
a journey for me, but I'm excited about it. So
shout out to Christian and Christina I just met them
(02:06):
and I saw them on social media. I checked out
their page, so shout out to them. They also have
some rare and unique house plans and it's just nice.
So for anybody out there, don't order plants like unless
you do some research on it. Yeah, that's something I
learned to well.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
And also, congratulations on being a plant mom.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
I'm a plant mama. I have a bunch of kids.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
All right. Now, who do you guys want to shine
a light on? Eight hundred two nine two fifty one
fifty Jessica, Who do you want to shine a light on?
Speaker 6 (02:31):
I want to shine a light on my neighbor, Diamond,
because she really goes real hard for me and anytime
I'm struggling, she's right there to put a positive light
on me.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
So nice your neighbor. That's dope, because let me tell
you something, neighbors are important. Yes, I got to deal
with a terrible one so headache, Yeah, it could be awful,
So that's great.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
I got flat.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
She's like a sister to me for real.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
All nice.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
I'm so happy to hear that. Shine a light on her,
and I know you did the same for her too,
write always all right? Well, thank you for Colin, Thank
you all right. Well that was shining Light eight hundred
and two nine two fifty one fifty just in case
you couldn't get through. And when we come back, we
got your yet. And this was really unfortunate. We saw
this playing out yesterday Little nas X. Oh no, you know,
(03:16):
just seeing him having this breakdown and how he was
on the street and somebody filming him. It looks like
he definitely needs some help. Prayers up for Little nas X.
We'll discuss when we come back. Its way up, they.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
Says, the rooms from industry shade to all of gossip out, Angela's.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
Feeling that.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
What's up? His way up with Angela. Yee I'm here,
Jasmine brand is here. I'm here, and it's time for
your yee t. And first up, Little nas X. He
is trending on social media. Man, this was really sad
for us to see. But TMZ has video of him
walking in the street. He is in his underwear and
some cowboy boots and somebody was actually driving past him
(03:58):
but recording him pointing the camera at him him and
here is some of what he was saying.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Nah nah hey, we relate to the party tonight, we're
at you know where it's at. Nah go ahead, babe,
Nah no no, no, no, no, no, no, go ahead, babe.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Didn't I tell you to put the phone down?
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Oh? Somebody just went out to pay for that.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
He even put like a traffic cone on his head.
I was like, is he gonna like run at the person?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
The thing about I lived at LA for years.
Speaker 7 (04:25):
Venture Boulevard is super busy, so I'm glad that someone
made sure he was okay. Well it was about four
am too, but it's vinal. He was always busy, so
I'm surprised he could not hit by a car. Just
could have been way more serious.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Honestly, you know, several people had reported to LAPD that
they saw a nude man walking in the road. Officers
found him still walking down the road. They actually subdued
him put him in handcuffs because he did charge at
the officers. I kept thinking the person that was filming
him he was gonna charge at them, but he didn't,
And they told paramedics that they believed that he possibly
(04:57):
overdosed and that he was then transport ordered to a hospital.
So they actually arrested him for battery on a police officer.
After all of that happened. And they also have footage
of him a few hours before that. He was actually
at a hotel, at the Short Stories Hotel, and the
hotel did confirm that he was there. He was not
(05:18):
a registered guest. And so yes, you can see how
everything played out if you look at all these videos online.
But I am hoping he gets up. I saw people
online also saying that it was like his commra for
playing around with God and things like that.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Right, but no, people say.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
And it's also he was really young blowing up the
way that he did. I'm sure it's not easy.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
A lot of pressure.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
I'm sure.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
All right, well that is your Yet when we come back,
we have about last night. That's where we discussed what
we did. Last night. We had a time as usual.
You went to sleep and did all right, it's way up.
Speaker 5 (05:48):
Oh about last night?
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Yes, I went down what's up? His way up at Angela? Yee,
I'm here, Jasmine brand is here, I'm here Angela, and
it's time for about last night. Now, yesterday I took
my braids out.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
Did you did?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Shout out to my girl Shire Brady who actually did
my braids? I sow, she just did Mary Jay Blige's
here the other day major she don't be playing. But
you Day is tomorrow, so I got to figure out
what I'm doing on my hair. So I took my
hair out yesterday. But also I started watching the Studio
because it got all these awards and you told me
it was good to really good. I finished Platonic. I
was like, let me flash back, now.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
What do you think about the studio? It's good, yes, funny.
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Yeah, I'm doing it. Platonic is hilarious.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
And I'm going to start maybe after You Day.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Look, I don't get paid for this, but I enjoyed
Platonic so much, and I think it's a new episode out,
so I got to check that out. But anyway, that's
about last night. Everything is about y Day right now though,
So I'm just getting ready for that that's happening tomorrow.
We've been running around like crazy, all right. Well, when
we come back speaking a crazy, it is a Friday.
You know what that means?
Speaker 3 (06:48):
What does that mean?
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Tell us a secret? Monday, Wednesday, Friday all write it's
a no judgment zone because we are in no position
to judge anyone.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
I promise you.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
We're a mess. Eight hundred two nine to two fifty
one fifty call us up, what secrets do you have?
Speaker 8 (07:01):
Again?
Speaker 2 (07:01):
That's eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one fifty.
You are completely anonymous. We want to hear from you.
Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty is way up, yo.
Speaker 9 (07:10):
Way up?
Speaker 5 (07:13):
This is a judgment.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Freeze on, tell us a secret?
Speaker 2 (07:16):
What's up? His way up? But angela, ye, I'm here.
Jasmine brand is here, Yes, you know she is, and
it's sign for tell us a secret. I feel like
we got some I got a call in though, because
I gotta be anonymous, we.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Got to change our voice too.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
Okay, eight hundred fifty one fifty what up, anonymous caller?
Tell us your secret.
Speaker 6 (07:33):
I befriended the woman that my husband is cheated with.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Ooh, it's like a movie.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
I didn't go through his phone or anything. If I
found out about them through someone that he and I
have a mutual friend with, so make belong for a
short I went to her place of work and okay,
so I'm inviting over to my house. You know, want
you come over for coffee and you know, let's just
chill out and get to know each other. She was
fine with it. She came over when my.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Husband came home.
Speaker 6 (08:02):
We were sitting in the house and to his surprise
and her like, she saw him and she's like hey.
He was so shocked. He tried to push her back,
like he didn't know who she was. What he like, girl,
what's wrong with him? She's like, well, let me ask you,
how do you know him? And I said that's my
(08:23):
husband and she's.
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Like, that's your what.
Speaker 6 (08:29):
She said, are y'all separated? I said no, we're not separated,
and she just started calling her friends. She's now getting
the hostile and I said, listen, that's what we're not
gonna do, because too often this is what females do.
But I just let him know I know his secret.
I said, did he ever tell you that he was married?
She's like, no, he told me he had a sister
(08:50):
that he was staying.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Out here with us.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
Said Sater, Well, that's funny because his sister. None of
his families stay in this state.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Are you all still married or what happened?
Speaker 6 (08:59):
I walked away and now I'm telling you I've gotten
bags that he said he never could afford. But when
I tell you this female, now, oh, she has became
like a friend of me, like she on my Facebook
case with threats and this and that, and I don't care.
Speaker 2 (09:16):
It's not your fault.
Speaker 6 (09:18):
At me because I caught them. And so he's like, well,
I don't know why, why would you do that? Like
that was real, sneaky and dirty on the table.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
You got something there, right? You know what's crazy this?
I was dating this guy and he cheated on me
with his ex and she tried to be from me
and I wasn't having it because that's something you would
never ever trust. But she didn't know she was.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
She's so mad, and she's like, well if you pull up,
like I'm from Detroit and.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
What we do.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
And I'm like, okay, I'm fine, you know, like like
I'm from North Carolina, but right I know where you're from,
who you are.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
All Right, we'll go. You might be a little crazy
just putting it out there.
Speaker 7 (10:04):
No, you definitely are anonymous. You definitely are a little cuckoo.
It's all good, though, I admired.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
Oh, he's gonna know because he listens to this show. Okay,
so that's why I made sure I called, because he's
going to know. He's not talking about him.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
We're talking about you this boys.
Speaker 6 (10:22):
Oh yeah, my phone is ringing, my phone is look,
my phone is going off. I'm getting text messages. Oh
that's real dirty. You aired this out on national TV, television, radio,
whatever you want to call it.
Speaker 5 (10:33):
Oh yeah, he.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Hears it, all right, all right, well, but thank you,
thank you. That was tell us a secret eight hundred
and two ninety two fifty one fifty. And you can
always leave a message and leave a secret for last
where we still want to hear from you. And when
we come back, we have your yet and let's get
ready for Love Island. This season seven reunion trailer came
(10:54):
out yesterday, Yes, and we have that for you. It's
way up.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
This says rooms from Industry Shade to all.
Speaker 5 (11:02):
Of gossip out sending. Angelas is feeling that EyeT, what's up?
Speaker 2 (11:07):
His way up at Angela? Yee, I'm here, Jasmine brand
is here. I'm here, and it's time for your eye
t Love alan USA season seven. The reunion trailer is here.
Y'all want to hear some of it?
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Yes, we do.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
Well, just for context, this is actually going to be
airing on August twenty fifth, that's Monday, all right. So
here's the drama, y'all. I'm just looking forward to seeing
what people.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
That voted me out.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Chris, how do you feel about what Hoda said in
the press.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
About you, sir. I don't respect it at all.
Speaker 10 (11:36):
Seeing that I'm the only person responsible for sending a
person home.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
It's crazy, press, you.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
Were out with Brian on the night of the alleged cheating,
had a lapse of judgment.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
All right, Well, a lot to unpack here now. This
is hosted by Ariana Maddix and Andy Cohen, and this
is the first time that they've all been in the
room together. After the finale episode.
Speaker 7 (11:59):
I'll wait to watch this episode for the whole thing
watch party by myself.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Let me tell you something in particular, I was thinking
about Jeremiah and Ace and that confrontation. I'm interested to
see how that plays out and whose side you're on
because it you know, Ace helped vote Jeremiah off the show.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
He definitely did.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
But everybody acts so cool, y'all haven't even known each
other that long. Man, you're trying to win. Sometimes you
have to vote the person that you might think is
your competition off the show, no matter who's you know,
all's fair.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
We're not here for fun. We're here to win.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Yeah, that's the problem when y'all thinking you friends with somebody. Yeah,
all right now. Also, let's talk about tennis. Dear Sasha Vickory. Okay,
there's been a lot of drama around her. She is
competing in the US Open twenty twenty five qualifiers in
New York City and she was answering some fans submitted
questions on her ig stories. Okay, and she's talking about OnlyFans.
(12:51):
So basically, the Daily Mail said, she said, I'm very
open minded and I don't care what people think of me.
It's the easiest money I've ever made, and I enjoyed
doing it, you know. She also had said that she
now requires a one thousand dollars deposit fee to date her.
She said, I no longer do for free due to
the behavior of men. I now require a pre date deposit.
(13:12):
Send me a thousand and we can make it happen,
and then she put out her cash app.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
I ain't mad at that.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
What I love is that. She also put up a
video where she's dancing to Jesse Reyes and said, imagine
hating me and I'm in my room like this every day.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
I know.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
That's right, girl, I gotta get that money.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Imagine that a deposit though to date you.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
It gets the randoms and the people that are aren't
serious out the way.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
And there's male tennis stars on OnlyFans too, by the way,
I just want to point that out there.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
It's just different, that's all it is. This is different.
We haven't seen this before.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
All right, Well, maybe we'll talk to her, but that
is your yet and when we come back, we have
under the radar. These are the stories that are not
necessarily and the headlines. They're flying under the radar, but
for sure you need to know about it. It's way up.
Check the news.
Speaker 5 (13:51):
News.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
What's up? Its way up. But Angela, yee, I'm here,
Jasmine Brandy, I'm here, and it's time for under the
radar stories. Well, the WNBA has broken single season attendance records.
That record had stood since two thousand and two, and
they're still two and a half weeks left in the
regular season. So league officials announced yesterday that the thirteen
teams have joined a total of two point five million
(14:17):
fans over two hundred and twenty six games this season.
That's huge. It took the WNBA two hundred and fifty
six games to reach that milestone. That was record setting
back in two thousand and two. So shout out to
the WNBA.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Yeah, what's your team again, the Liberty?
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Of course, my team, I'm mascot Elle period. I'm about
to post elle right now. Funny, all right, And this
is a wild situation. You know, y'all have this president
right now, Donald Trump. A federal judge has ordered the
remote detention camp known as Alligator Alcatraz in Florida to
be shut down. They have to stop taking detainees. They
(14:53):
have to remove the infrastructure that was added to that site.
It used to be an airport, but no, they can
know longer house people their detainees with immigration and everything
has to be removed, lighting, fencing, generator's guests to which
all of those things have to be removed.
Speaker 7 (15:10):
Now.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Of course, they are planning to appeal that. And when
I say they, you know who I mean. The state
will appeal the judge's order. But the problem with this
attention center is again it's called Alligator Alcatraz. Lawmakers went
and toward that site, and they said there were hundreds
of migrants confined in cages. It was sweltering heat, there
were bug infestations, and they were barely given any food,
(15:32):
and so you know, it's definitely inhumane. It was built
really quickly. Also, all right, well that is you're under
the radar. Let's treat people like human beings like we
get it. Y'all hate anybody that's not white coming in
this country. But come on, y'all, all right, well that's
your under the radar. Now, don't forget. We have the
way it mixed for you. At the top of the hour,
it is a Friday, so we are partying. And speaking
(15:54):
of partying, he's got a song out right now, car Party,
and it's huge. Mashall Montana's going to be joining us.
I am so excited for this one. He's going to
be at the Barclays on the twenty fourth, so make
sure y'all check him out. But way up at Angela Yee,
Michelle is going to be joining us.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
Let's go, man, she's spilling it all this is yet.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Well, it's way up at Angela Yee. I'm here, Jasmine
Brand is here.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
I'm not just needy Brand I'm my own brand.
Speaker 7 (16:20):
Man.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Are we ready? I feel like we're just in y
day mode? So y, but let's get to work, Okay,
I gotta work. We still have to work, all right.
Derek Rose, his number has obviously gotten retired. I know
you guys know that already. And there's a viral clip
that shows his reaction after discovering the news. And here
is what that sounds like. Next year, when we retire
(16:41):
your number and that raptors, it is going to be
more about you than a fan.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
So so I'm just telling you, nobody's wearing that number
one Jersey got on us.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
PJ is a bull, all right. So yes, unless his
son plays Wow, and that could happen, no one will
ever have that number.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
I love that. I love it.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yes, So I remember when they retired his number and
everybody was out there celebrating, you know, So shout out
to Derek Rose, all right. Ice Spice recently cleared off
her Instagram. Okay, and it looks like there is definitely
new music from Ice Spice on the way now. She
did drop a teaser previewing a new single, and it
seems like people are excited about it. Here it is.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Said they wanted a bot.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
I was just up.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
I don't even really mean to go pop.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
She was just breaking that.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
I don't be giving shot. I know he's I know,
he's just one. What I got I call a nasty like.
I'm trying to see what.
Speaker 1 (17:36):
A te gonna make it a movie? Do the goofies?
Speaker 7 (17:41):
Okay, you like it was here vibe he was that's
a bop and so your born I was was bopping too.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
I know he's here already said he loves it.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
He's a fan.
Speaker 5 (17:50):
He's a fan.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
He actually is a batty. So that's oh, he's a baddie.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
He had a batty.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
He did have his leg, are you very right?
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (18:00):
I did not know he could touch his knee with
his nose like that. Now, another thing that people are
talking about when it comes to Ice Spice is there's
rumors that she's split up with her rumored boyfriend and
the NFL Sauce Gardener, And now there's rumors that she's
dating somebody new basketball elite basketball player and TikTok star
(18:21):
Diamont Blasi size the name or Blazy Blazi. Okay, well,
they were photographs as of two of them walking out together.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Ye get them and get them out on to the
next I know that's.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Right on today, or they could have just been walking
out together. You know, you just never know.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
The latter sounds better.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
You like you better that way? Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right.
Fifty cent and G Unit Studios. They're working on plans
to build a permanent G Dome in Shreveport, Louisiana. You
know he's been doing a lot of things there, yeh,
with development, creating jobs and bringing economic prosperity to the city.
Well now he's collaborating to how fund certain expansions and
(18:56):
they want to follow in the footsteps in Vegas and
build their own sphere. Okay, have you ever were you
with me in report?
Speaker 5 (19:03):
No?
Speaker 3 (19:03):
I was just going to say, maybe we should do
our next building there.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
I went to Stree Report before in the casino.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
How was it?
Speaker 2 (19:09):
I felt like I was with you.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
I don't think. No, I wasn't there. I don't think
I've ever been there. I wasn't.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
It was it was cool, okay, okay, all right, well
that is your uty when we come back into new
music Friday. But there's a lot of new music out today.
I mean, y'all, you guys are going to be busy listening,
but I want to tell you about one album when
we come back. Then I'm excited for it.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
It's way up abody since with it's relationship for career advice,
Angela's dropping facts.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
This is aske what's up?
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Its way up at Angela Yee. I'm here with Jazmine
Brands and we got somebody on the line for ask yee.
Quentin is on the line. Hey, Quentin, Hey Angie, Hey,
what's your question for us today? For ask ye?
Speaker 9 (19:51):
So I was dealing with this girl and I went
through the phone while I've been like a text sort
of like a go through the phone, and it was
under a different name.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
But it was she wound up talking to my brother.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Oh wow, what what did you see that made you
go through the phone.
Speaker 9 (20:08):
She would try to hire her phone like every time
it would come up, like she would like just act
like make like weird.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Faces or something like this. So it like made me
skeptical about it.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
She's acting suspicious, Okay.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Was that all you saw when you went through?
Speaker 1 (20:22):
They was just like you know they had in the course.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
Oh man, Oh my gosh, your brother, yeah, he has
he done stuff like this to you before? Are y'all close.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
We're pretty close. This is like the first time that
I know of my goodness.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
And when you say brother, that's your actual brother.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
Okay, oh wow, Well, first of all, that's not your
girl anymore. Let's get that straight right. Imagine like being
in a relationship with somebody that had sex with your
brother and you found out because you went through her
phone that relationship is done. Yeah, did you all break
up yet? Does she know you saw this?
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Yeah? We Yeah, the same day I brought it up
to her.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
What does she say when you confront of her about it?
Speaker 1 (21:00):
It started off us planning to surprise you. My birthday
was around that time, Like, oh, we didn't deny it? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Was she at least apologetic?
Speaker 9 (21:11):
Yeah, she was apologetic about it, trying to get back together,
send any text I blocked on everything.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Okay, good, I'm glad you did that. So she's out
of the picture.
Speaker 1 (21:21):
Now.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Did you still haven't said anything to your brother?
Speaker 1 (21:24):
I folk though my brother about it.
Speaker 9 (21:25):
He was just like apologizing the family, try to get
us back talking, but.
Speaker 7 (21:31):
The whole family, Like what is your family saying? Like
did you tell your parents or your other siblings?
Speaker 3 (21:36):
And who did you tell? Like you told everybody.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Yeah, I told everybody.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Now, what was his explanation when you said he was apologizing? Like,
what was his Like? What could you even say?
Speaker 9 (21:46):
Oh, I apologize, bro, it wasn't like that, like basically
giving the same thing.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
She said, Well, if I were you, I would take
my time. You have every right to not talk to
your brother until you feel comfortable in doing so. How
do you feel all about the situation now?
Speaker 1 (22:01):
It happened like a few months ago, So I'm like
over it.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Are you dating now? Are you still taking a break?
Speaker 1 (22:07):
No, I'm more focused on my business right now.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
I'm like, well, I'm sorry that that happened to you.
Does he have a girlfriend?
Speaker 1 (22:14):
No, not at the moment.
Speaker 3 (22:16):
No, you definitely got to get back.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Are you thinking about revenge? No, don't do it. Don't
do it. Don't make it right? Baby?
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Do his wife? When do you get married?
Speaker 7 (22:25):
No?
Speaker 3 (22:26):
Yeah, yeah, you gotta one of them?
Speaker 2 (22:30):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
You can't even do it even joint. You gotta not
even you wouldn't have You don't seem like that time.
You don't like that time.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
I'm always getting my lid in.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
No, okay, that's what i want to hear.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
We're not We're not with that, but again, you have
every right to feel how you do, and your brother
should be doing whatever he can to make it up
to you. Yeah, but thank you for calling and sharing
that with it.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
That's wow, that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Good luck. Can I give a shout out to my business? Yeah?
My business is timeless on Instagram. I'm I have a
catering business. Okay, I would love to bring some food.
I would love to bring some food up to y'all.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
You have side dishes. I'm kidding. Yeah, we're good. Let's
get hold up. We'll get your information. We will love
for you to come bring some food up. Okay, all right, Well, anyway,
when we come back, well that was asked you when
we come back. Oh man, I'm so excited for this.
The King of Soka is going to be joining us.
Mishall Montano is gonna be here. He'll be at the
(23:26):
Barclays on Sunday. But you know you don't be doing
interviews like that, so we're excited to have him. It's
way up, No beg were about to do this.
Speaker 5 (23:34):
One of the mem most famous women in radio audio.
We're talking about Angela Yee. You're way up with Angela ye.
Please believe that what's.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Up this way up with Angela Yee? I'm here, Jasmine
brand is here. Yes, man, we have a real living
icon here with us today. Mishall Montano is here. Welcome
the way up.
Speaker 10 (23:54):
Thank you. It's good to be here with these beautiful ladies. Angie.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Long time I was reminding Jasmine into the Caribbean Music
Awards last year and first of all, couldn't believe that
you were there, but you got your Lifetime Achievement Award there.
How did that feel.
Speaker 10 (24:08):
It's a funny feeling to get that so early in life.
I'm saying I'm still young for Green, but I mean
for me being there seeing the progress of Caribbean music
and that night, Mighty Sparrow was there so for me
and it was really special for that moment because his
career really inspired mine. So I feel really fortunate to
be doing this so long.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
I want you to talk about Mighty Sparrow, just to
give some history of your career, about who Mighty Sparrow
is for people listening who may not have that information.
Speaker 10 (24:35):
Well, he's a King of Calypso at a very early age,
he took myself and Natasha Wilson was a female calypso
and we were nine years old and he took us
on talk.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Isn't that crazy?
Speaker 3 (24:45):
How did he meet you? How did he see you?
Speaker 5 (24:47):
Like?
Speaker 3 (24:47):
How did that happen?
Speaker 2 (24:48):
He was already in his career at nine.
Speaker 10 (24:51):
The funny thing is I was singing calypso and they said, yo,
you want to represent for your junior colypso competition in
the country. I did that and I shot the fame
and I got I came home to my house and said,
do you want to open for the Mighty Sparrow at
Madison Square Garden at nine years old?
Speaker 2 (25:06):
I say, is that wild? I was like, yeah, right now,
Mascia Montano is here with us. He's performing at the
Barclays on Sunday and he's got an album One Degree
Hotter out right now. You also went to school and
got your master as well in Carnival studies. I didn't
even know that.
Speaker 10 (25:23):
Was yeah, yeah, and that was important for me. Everybody
took Trainland to be because the mecca of Carnival, and Brassa
will say no, we got the real Carnival, and then
there's Babadis and Lucia. But when I really went back
and studied it. You know, this is something that was
born in ancient Egypt in Africa, and it came across
with the enslaved people, but it also went to Rome
(25:46):
and Spain and Italy and France, and they now came
and colonized our islands. So there was like French type carnival,
Spanish type carnival, English type carnival happening alongside the African
type carnival. And what is kind of kindival is about
putting on costumes, putting on a mask. What do you
do when you put that mask on, this physical body
(26:07):
disappears and you become one with the gods. You're kind
of communing with the gods, be able to go beyond
yourself because you're pretending to be something else. And if
we all in these streets jumping up, pretending to be
something as one, it's a much bigger experience than being
an individuals being together. I love that when you have
that music happening. That's why people love to come back
(26:27):
to Candival and Trinidad and eat your food and drink
you rum and see one another's a hug hug up
and you know, feel like one and I don't think
many types of music has.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
That in there.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Now, you know.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
One thing I also say about Socca what I love
is that I feel like women have always been very
included for sure with Soca music. I love that we're
talking about this master's degree that you got and then
you kind of educating us on the background because some
people might hear the music and think it's just party
music and not understanding the evolution of it. Massia Montano
is here, Jasmine Brand is here. He is the king
(27:02):
of Soca. And when we come back, so much to
talk about. But you know, Sierra was in Trinidad and
she shouted him out. We'll talk about that when we
come back. It's way up for me.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
Here we go again.
Speaker 5 (27:14):
This is way up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (27:16):
What's up as way up with Angela Yee. I'm here
with Jasmine Brand and Masha Montana is here for the
first time ever. Now did you laugh when Sierra was
at Trinidad and she shouted you out? But your name
for people if they don't, you know, it's a little
hard for people.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
You don't have the name. I like monchel Mont.
Speaker 10 (27:34):
And no listen, I've been my color Cala, But to me,
I love that because you know they'll be talking with
that guy, that guy who moves the audience that way,
and then you bring people in to learn who you are. Yeah,
that was cute, though I understood that she didn't get it.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
And you know it was our first time at Carnival too.
And I also want to ask you this. We had
a debate before you came in here. This is Nick.
He's a DJ also he works here. He calls you
the jay Z of Soca, just so you know he was.
But we were like, who could he do a versus against? Ever?
And we were trying to come up with some ideas
of what would be a good competition for you.
Speaker 10 (28:13):
Well, truth be told, I was supposed to do versus
during the pandemic. I was approached by Sliss Beats and
they to do Marshall versus Bungie.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
That's what I said, Thank you, he said, Cass, and
I said, it's a different vibe. Cats is amazing and huge.
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Okay, go ahead.
Speaker 10 (28:31):
That was it, and I mean I was I was
down for it, but at that time it was a
time that I was going inwards. I spent the first
year in the jungle and then I decided to pick
up myself and go to India to study meditation and
rehash my body and my mind. And I learned to
eat different, I learned to sleep different, to know I
have a different approach. So at that time, I wanted
(28:54):
to go inwards. I wasn't in a position to go outward.
I was considered no because I'm out. But I always
do ying and yang. I always have a time when
I go in and then I come out to share
what I've learned with new music, new energy, a new
thought process.
Speaker 2 (29:08):
Right now, Masha Montano is here with us. He's got
an album one Degree Hotter out right now. Well, thank
you so much for sharing with us. We really appreciate it.
Don't forget the twenty fourth Planet Brooklyn. You are the
headlining act. And maybe you said you would revisit this.
You know this versus who knows that could potentially happen.
Speaker 10 (29:28):
You will have fun.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
I'm just glad I was.
Speaker 10 (29:30):
But guess what, Guess what is happening that planet? He
is gonna be there, He's opening up. Surprise Skilly Bang
Asian Molly is coming out. I might have a couple
of little.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Twists, Letten Hate, I have songs with everybody, So I
can't even imagine what type of surprises we're gonna have it.
So for us, it's just you alone.
Speaker 10 (29:50):
Is this is the biggest shore, the biggest sue for
the summer for Caribbean music. He does Oh My Angela
another great one.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
But also because you say my name all throughout the
beginning of the song, you know, Angela repeat that a
special that's a special record, Angela. Well, thank you so
much again, we really appreciate you.
Speaker 10 (30:18):
Thank you ladies for flying the flag for us and
doing your thing and keeping that positive energy running.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
