you ever heard of Daniel's Leather, it is where like
everybody goes to get their you know, furs, their faux furs,
their leather, their shirlings, all of that. But when I
say everybody, I mean like nas Cardi, b like Monica,
(00:56):
like all of the biggest names in music and sports
and everything, Lebron like literally everybody gets their stuff from him.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
But how did it all start?
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Well, he's going to tell us today for Wealth Wednesdays
as he gets ready for his fashion shows. He has
one on September twelfth and on September sixteenth, I was
actually at a fashion event last night. I never go
out for fashion week, but I did go out last
night and it was pretty amazing. I'll talk about that
and about last night, but let's get the show started
with some love and some positivity. Let's shine a light
(01:26):
eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty Call us up.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Let us know who you want to shine a light on.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I'm shine, I'm shine.
Speaker 6 (01:33):
Turn your lights on, y'all lights spreading love to those
who are doing greatness.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Shine the light on, shine a light on. It's time
to shine a light on.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
All right, it's way up with Angela Yee. I'm here
with akem Woods. This is my guy right here. He's
a hilarious comedian. You've been on the road, now you're
back and today I want to shine a light on
a couple that is from Detroit who is actually going
to be opening the first Coney Island in Atlanta that's
going to be coming in twenty twenty six. Now, if
(02:06):
you I don't know what Coney Island is, it's like
a chain of restaurants in Detroit, and basically there's a
whole lot of them. They're all like separately owned, but
people from Detroita always like you going to Coney's and
then they always talk about and argue which one is
the best one?
Speaker 4 (02:21):
What kind of food is it? It's like Greek food.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
But yeah, so if you like, you know, when you
go to Detroit, they do a lot of Greek food
out there. There's like a huge there's a huge amount
of people there that and they love like schwarmas. The
first time I ever had a shwarma was in Detroit.
I never had one before that.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Really, have you? Yes? In New York all over ya.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
I never had one before until I went to Detroit
and then I came here and I actually was eating
them here. It was a brother brothers from Detroit had
opened up a place that Solci Swarmer's here. Yeah, and
that's how I ended up having that there. But yeah,
so they're opening one in Atlanta, so that's a big deal.
I know there's a lot of people from Detroit that
live in Atlanta, so they're excited. I saw Jamil Hill
commenting on it. I saw Minglee being excited about it
(03:05):
because they're from Detroit.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Oh that's exciting.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Yes, indeed, All right, now, who do you want to
spread some love to? Who do you want to shine
a light on eight hundred and two ninety two fifty
one fifty.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
Karen, who do you want to shine a light on?
Speaker 7 (03:16):
I really want to shine a light on myself for
feeding the homeless for over four years in New York
and in Jamaica two years. And I have a charity
named Karen Hans eight on ID and Karen Hands on Facebook.
We're also do back to school charity for kids in Jamaica.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Karen, thank you so much for everything that you do,
because I think it is important for people to know
the work that you're putting in and how they can
support you and the work that you're doing. And also
if other people feel compelled to want to feed people
that are on house and help people from the country
where they're from, you should definitely do that so when
we see people like you doing it, that inspires others.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
All right, I think it's Karen Hand's eight right, the
number eight on ID. Yeah, okay, I see on Facebook.
All right, thank you so much for calling.
Speaker 7 (04:06):
All right, bye bye, bless book.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Well that was Shina Light eight hundred and two nine
two fifty one fifty. In case you couldn't get through,
leave a message and shine a light the last word
when we come back. We got your ye eat and
Carti B. She is getting ready to release her album
and she's been doing all kinds of funny promo.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
We'll tell you about the latest one.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
It's way up, this says in the rooms from industry
shade to all.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Of gossip out send.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Angela's speeling that yet, all right, it's way up with Angela.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Yee, I'm here, A keen widz is here?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
What's up?
Speaker 3 (04:37):
I'm sorry, but as I'm looking at things, I'm reading
about Charlie Sheen and his documentary.
Speaker 8 (04:44):
I saw that too, and you said, Okay, he made
a post about doing gay stuff for the first time.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Is that what we're talking about.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
No, it's something about ice cubes, but we'll talk about
that later. Okay, I don't even understand this, but anyway,
let's get into Carti B. She has announced that she
is getting out on the road to sell her album.
We've seen different videos of her. I saw the corner
with the incense trying to sell her album fun Now.
(05:11):
She's also saying, this is my last chance to sell
this album, so I don't get sent back to the
strip club.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
Meet me there, she's.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
Doing all of these different in store promotions, and here's
what she had to say.
Speaker 9 (05:23):
Here, ye hear ye, go to the imaginary players music videos.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Atlantic Breakers have done some deduction to.
Speaker 9 (05:30):
My album's budget, and the new budget is fifty dollars.
So go to the fact that the budget is fifty
dollars for my album, I have to go on the
road and sell the CDs and vinyls myself.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
True, it's bigger than the budget we have here, So
good for her. Carti b also was recently on The
Jennifer Hudson Show and talked about wanting to have more kids.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
You think you're going to have more kids, Yes you are.
Speaker 9 (06:01):
Oh yes, It's like the more kids who have, the
less of a possibility you go to like a home,
one of them is gonna.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Wipe my butt.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
I feel like I'd be best friends to Cartie in
my head.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
That's a hilarious, very practical reason to have a whole
bunch of kids.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
No, she's right, I don't want any, but she's right
all right now.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Offset in the meantime was stop by TMZ and they
were talking about his new album, which, by the way,
his new album is pretty good. I just feel like
it's not really getting the credit that it deserves. And
he's been saying now he wants peace with Cardi d
We'll see how long that lasts, but hopefully they do
get to that point. But he was actually quite nice
(06:39):
when talking about Cardi's new music.
Speaker 10 (06:42):
Hey, yeah, your kid's gonna have both their parents nominated
for Album of the Year.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
For sure. You guys gonna go up against each other, maybe,
no problem. A man, all push to win.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Everybody gotta win.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
You got kids such that we got so lasting.
Speaker 10 (06:56):
You're gonna support her album in some way.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
For sure, she's gonna do a going to Oh that's nice.
Speaker 4 (07:02):
Yeah, see that was nice.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, at least being cordial. That's good.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
And the truth is, y'all do have kids together, and
so yeah, kids are forever. You're gonna have to cross
paths and you have to think about one day your
kids will see things and be like you said that
about my mama, Like you know you said that about
my daddy. So things to think about. And Kenjick Lamari
is rumored to be headlining at Coachella. That would be huge.
You know, he's been headlining a lot of things, obviously
(07:27):
the Super Bowl halftime show. A lot of outdoor festivals.
He does his own thing too, went on tour with Sizza.
It only makes sense for him to be one of
the headliners at Coachella.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Have you been to Coachella.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
I've never been.
Speaker 8 (07:38):
I don't like outside stuff like that, fun to people
outside and tents doing drugs.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
I thank you.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Yeah, and you don't do anything. You don't drink, you
don't do drugs. I don't know if you would have
a good time, but you would love to go out
fashionably and yeah, you know, put up some good content.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
I think it's also about who you're with.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
I think if I.
Speaker 8 (07:55):
Went, if a fun group invited me, I would go.
And also they pay for my ticket.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
It's a lot of ifs. All right, well that is
your ut. When we come back, we have about last night.
I told you it is fashion week here in New
York City. I'll tell you what I did last night.
It's way up.
Speaker 6 (08:10):
So about last night side went down?
Speaker 3 (08:16):
All right, it's way up with Angela yee. I'm here
with my guy I keen Woods. Welcome board to do
home back home from the West Coast. All right, so
talk to me. What did you do last night?
Speaker 1 (08:25):
Last night is Tuesday, so you know, we always do
Godfrey's podcast on Tuesday. I'm a regular over there.
Speaker 8 (08:31):
But since Godfrey is still on the West Coast, he's
in LA, we did a Zoom podcast, which is always stressful,
but so that's what we did last.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Night was the Zoom podcast with Godfrey.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Okay, well, I went outside. You know, I'm gonna be honest.
I don't go out that much, and I really don't.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
You always outside, you think so, but for.
Speaker 3 (08:47):
Work stuff, now, oh yes, you don't go outside voluntarily
go out. So yesterday I went to a Harlem Fashion
Row event and it was honestly, it was pretty amazing.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
You know.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
They did have a fashion show aspect of it, and
an award ceremony ceremony also, and for the fashion show,
the designers were a patient descent. Usher actually got the
Virgil Ablo Award and so he was there to accept
his award and give a speech and everything, which was nice.
He thanked his seventeen year old self for making him fearless.
(09:21):
But yes, it was a beautiful night, beautiful event. I
was with my girl, Melissa Butler, who owns the.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Lip bar Do you wear? Do you wes?
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Some a fancy kind of.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
I was also with my girl Ingrid, who owns I
Best Wines and so it was a nice like we
got ready at the house together, then we all went
to the event together. So that was cute for me,
Like I had a good time sitting there. So shout
out to everybody that was there. My guy Corey Smith,
who is the DEI person at LBMA s Luis Patamaw
at Hennessy. He was like, yes, there are still DEI
(09:51):
rolls that people have those positions, even though you know
people have been trying to get that shut down. But anyway,
shout out to everybody who was there last night. You
know who else was there, Shelley from Love Island.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Oh nice, she.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Was there too, and she walked in the fashion show.
So my girl Keys was the head makeup artist. I
love Key for everything. That's my makeup artist. So I
really wanted to go and just like support her. So
just seeing the amazing job that the artist and the
stylist did. Shout out to everybody at Harlem Fashion on
New York Fashion Week isn't so bad. It's a lot.
It's a lot of work. I saw Dapper Dan was there, Okay,
(10:27):
Carrie Hilson. I saw Sherry Shepherd. It was a beautiful one.
When you get home, like eleven o'clock. All right, well,
when we come back, you know what time?
Speaker 4 (10:36):
It is my favorite, it's.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
My favorite time. It's tell us a secret. Eight hundred
two ninety two fifty one fifty. If you want to
tell us a secret, we are all ears. That's eight
hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
Call us up.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Any secret you have, I guarantee you is not as
bad as Charlie Sheen's facts.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Eight hundred nine two fifty one fifty. Judgment zone. You're anonymous.
That's tell us a secret.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Yeah, this is a judgment free zone. Tell us a secret.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
All right, everybody be quiet. It's time to tell us
a secret. It's way up with Angela. Yee a came woods.
My favorite part is here with me today. I know
this is your favorite. There's a lot of people's favorites.
It tell us a secret. Eight hundred two nine two
fifty one fifty. You are not going to be judge
and you get to remain anonymous, anonymous.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Call I tell us your secret.
Speaker 11 (11:26):
So I was six half the time, and I was
in elementary school and My sister has allergies and there
was show and tell. So I went in her bag
and I took her you know, the EpiPen that they
used for their allergies.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Yes, yes, I shouldn't been tell.
Speaker 11 (11:41):
I showed it, tells it to mys class, and like,
I lost it the same day and I never told
her until years later when she moved out.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Okay, I thought you were going to need it.
Speaker 8 (11:53):
I thought you were gonna say he needed it as
she didn't have it.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
You are so funny for bringing that to show and tell.
Speaker 11 (12:00):
When she moved out, she ended up packing upside the
head and she was like, I'm not mad at you.
You were young, but like you were stupid.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
You're like, I could have died, but thank you for sharing.
Speaker 11 (12:10):
You're welcome, Hand nine of his color.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
What's goody? Hey, it's me and I Kim. You want
to tell us a secret for some.
Speaker 10 (12:17):
Te So me and my men we got three kids
and last year we just randomly went to justice of
the kings got married and we had a new baby.
So like when we go around the family, they think
that the baby that we got is just like one
of my kids. Friends and I don't know they were
married so they still call him like my baby daddy,
(12:39):
and so so we tint out selling them on Christmas,
why we've been married for a year. This is our baby.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
So you didn't tell them that that baby was yours?
They thought it was just like.
Speaker 10 (12:52):
Why they didn't ask and we didn't.
Speaker 8 (12:54):
Wait wait wait, they think that they grandkid. It's just
a random baby.
Speaker 10 (12:59):
No, it's not the grandkids.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Like you don't like the family. The family thinks that
their kids.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
So they didn't know you were married, but they knew
you had other kids with him. Yeah, right, but this,
but why why would you not have told them that?
Speaker 4 (13:12):
I'm just curious. But for the reason.
Speaker 10 (13:15):
First off, when I had why Mary, I didn't want
to tell a lot of people because people, you know,
they speak negative on your relationship with Is.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
It that they don't like him? That's what it's giving
like they don't like him for you.
Speaker 10 (13:30):
No, it's not bad. It's like I mean, we have
been through like certain situations where they probably do got
whole dad text in their mouth. But I don't know,
I just feel like me getting there, me going off
to getting married was something that I wanted to do
for my personal self and not like get validation from
everybody else.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
Okay, as long as you have a good taste in
your mouth.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Yeah, all right, Well, thank you for sharing with us.
Speaker 4 (13:57):
I can't wait to hear what happens at holiday time.
Speaker 10 (14:00):
Okay, I'll make sure.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Thank please, Okay, thank you, all right, bye bye. Yeah
they don't like him, Yeah, they definitely like that's what
that's about.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
All right.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Well that was tell us a secret eight hundred two
ninety two fifty one fifty. Just in case you couldn't
get through, you can always leave a message and tell
us a secret that way, and when we come back,
we have your yee tea.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
Man when I.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Tell you this aka Charlie Sheen documentary came out today
on Netflix.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
It is crazy.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
We got a couple of spoilers for you, like a
movie role that he could have started that he ended
up turning down. That was a big one. But we'll
also talk about what he used to do to stay awake.
And all I can say is I might need a
n ice cube today.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
It's way up.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Sure, she's about to blow the lead ab off this spot.
Speaker 6 (14:41):
Let's get it, oh angelus feeling that yea tea, Come
and get to see.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
I'm sorry we need a moment. Miss Patty Leabell just
walked in had to say.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Hi, yah's crazy.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
I know here go akem I love your pies. I
do you know? You don't know what to say. You
gotta say something, love your pies. We love you MESSCOTTI labou.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
All right, well let's get into some et who everybody
woosa Charlie Sheen, his new Netflix documentary aka Charlie Sheen
is out right now. It came out on Netflix today.
I never thought I would care this much about Charlie
Sheen and like his life, but he has had a fascinating.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
He has had the life of a life.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
And so we do have some highlights for you in
case you are not going to watch it or haven't
had a chance to see it, this is going to
make you want to see it. One thing that he
talked about in part one is passing on playing the
role of the Karate Kid.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
I was offered the lead role in the Karate Kid.
Speaker 12 (15:38):
So I took it to my dad and I said, hey, man,
I got this thing and it's a life changing opportunity.
And he said, well, there's a problem here. You gave
this other company your word. I said, yeah, but it
is forgettable, and it's a thing, and it's like eight lines.
He said, none of that matter. Your word in this
business is going to carry you a lot further than
one big movie. So we politely told the Karate Kid
people that if they could wait two weeks, I'm all in,
(16:00):
and they said they couldn't.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
So he passed on that rope, but he did say
that he felt like it could have possibly pitched on him.
Now in addition to that, he talked about something that
he did. I've never heard of this, but when I
tell you, I was tired today and I went to
the ice machine in the kitchen after I watched this
part of the documentary and I was like, I'm awake.
(16:23):
Now here's what he had to say. He did he
was literally falling asleep on set.
Speaker 12 (16:28):
I was in Montreal and I was shooting this movie
called Free Money, and it got to the point where
I literally could not keep my eyes open. The director
kind of spotted it, he says, he looked like, you're
falling asleep on camera. I said to him, I need
a glass of ice. There was a little bathroom and
I went in there and I took an ice cube
(16:50):
and I shoved it up my and man, I was
wide awake.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
I didn't know that works.
Speaker 8 (16:57):
Now everybody knows that it would work, But I also
don't know if I would have told that story.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
I would have kept that and the your but is
leaking water like as you're yeah, I mean, come on,
what are you gonna do with the whole back of
your pants?
Speaker 4 (17:10):
As well?
Speaker 1 (17:11):
I would have kept that story to the.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Great But this can help other people who may be tired.
If you're at work right now, you're tired, go to
the kitchen. But there's a lot to this though. I mean,
he talks about his addiction. He's now seven years sober,
and you know he two and a half men. They
talk a lot about that and how much money that
was making the network and the people that were around
(17:33):
that were really enabling his behavior. He's also now cordial
with his ex wives all of that. They're both in
the documentary, by the way, so make sure you check
it out.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
I'm gonna watch the whole thing.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
It sounds crazy. I'm gonna watch it too when.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
We come back.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
We have under the radar. These are the stories that
are not necessarily in the headlines. They're flying under the radar,
but you need to know about them anyway. Listen, we
got to talk about The Conjurer, and y'all know, I love, love,
love that series. It's like the most successful horror franchise ever. Well,
you can own a little piece of the Conjuring if
you dare.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
We'll tell you how. It's way up the news.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
News.
Speaker 6 (18:08):
This in the news that relates to you. These stories
are flying under the radar.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
Way up by Angela. Yee, I'm here with my guy,
I keen Wood.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
What's up? Patti Labelle's best friend.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
She listened Leapie is Patty. She just walked in here
and a keen Meta for the first time.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
I love Patty, She's so sweet.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
All right, let's get into some of these under the
radar stories. So the farmhouse from The Conjuring, you can
actually buy that is headed for auction on Halloween.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
It's in Rhode Island, and.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
It's an antique farmhouse that has become famous for historical
paranormal sightings and activity. In twenty thirteen, Warner Brothers released
The Conjuring, which was based off of true paranormal events
that occurred at the subject residence with the Paraan family
in the seventies. So there's no starting bid listed yet
for that farmhouse.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
We should get it, girl.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
No, people stay trying to play the devil. I'm good,
all right.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Well, the Conjuring TV series is currently in development.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
Have they taken a big step forward?
Speaker 3 (19:04):
They have found out now Nancy Wan is going to
be the writer, executive producer and showrunner, and both Peter
Cameron and Cameron Squires are going to write on the series.
So they talked about this a couple of years ago.
It was reportedly in development, but now it's really happening. Guys,
and I gotta go see the last Rites. That's the
last Conjuring in the series.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Nope, I don't do scary movies.
Speaker 4 (19:28):
We will, all right.
Speaker 8 (19:29):
Now.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
A man has allegedly jumped off of a Royal Caribbean
cruise ship not want to pay his sixteen thousand dollars
gambling debt. Heey Gonzalez Diez was on the Rhapsody of
the Seas near the port of San Juan and Puerto
Rico when this incident happened on September seventh. He was
arrested in charge with the Federal Crime and they did
bring him to the shore by two jet skis. So
(19:53):
you know you can't avoid paying your debt by jumping
off of it.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
You could have died, sir.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Now what did you think was gonna what happened?
Speaker 8 (20:00):
Like, you don't think they have censors and stuff like
that to tell when someone has gone overboard.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
But also you're either gonna die or get rescued. Yeah,
though both of those are not good. Like getting rescued.
Now you're facing up to five years in prison and
a fine of up to two hundred and fifty thousand
dollars if you're found guilty.
Speaker 8 (20:18):
On top of the sixteen thousand year old the casino.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Yeah, so you know, who knows what's gonna happen? And
get ready for that new iPhone. I just want to
say they did have their event, the Everything Apple event yesterday,
and we found out there's an iPhone seventeen, an iPhone Air,
iPhone seventeen Pro, and iPhone seventeen Pro Max. And there's
also a major redesign of the iPhone, the biggest one
(20:43):
in years. There's a thinner model that's the iPhone Air
and according to the CEO, Tim Cookie said, it's the
biggest leap ever for iPhone. I saw Samsung kind of
making fun of them, you know, for that. They said,
I can't believe some people had to wait five years
for sleep Score.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Anyway, they said, welcome to the party.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Sleep Score is like that Thinner model. You know, it's
just the sleep model the iPhone seventeen Air.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
So I guess they're saying, oh, Dan.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Saying he got something to say.
Speaker 8 (21:16):
No, the sleep score is like the technology that tracks
your sleep, how well you slept, yourrima. So that's part
of the new Apple products. Has Samsung always been doing that? Yes,
I hate to see it happen.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Well. Samsung also said, I can't believe this is still relevant,
and they said, let us know when it folds.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Remember they said that before. When you know there's such
a there's such a battle for that.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
I love my little and joy.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
All right, well that is your under the radar.
Speaker 3 (21:38):
Now. We do have the Way Up mix at the
top of the hour. Plus we got a special guest
joining us for Wealth Wednesday, the owner of Daniel's Leather
Nading why he You're gonna love his story.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
It's way up. She's like the tout like.
Speaker 10 (21:49):
They Angel Jean, like they and Jeli Jean.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
She's spilling it all. This is yeaty way up.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
It's way up with Angela. Yee, I'm here, Keen Woods
is here, what's up? What's happening? Oh man, this Tyler Perry.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
These accusations are you know, you've got it. Derek Dixon
recently sat down with ABC News with Lindsay Davis and
talked about alleged sexual encounters with Tyler Perry. And he
feels that, you know, he's saying that he was allegedly assaulted,
and in this interview he's talked about this before, but
(22:27):
this is his first televised interview that he's done. He
talks about an incident where he says that Tyler Perry
got into bed with him and he ended up having
to jump out of the bed.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
Here's what he said.
Speaker 13 (22:39):
I got into bed and then I noticed that he'd
hung in the bed with me as well and started
rubbing my leg and I jumped up out of bed,
and he said, you know, turn around so I can
look at you, and and just commented on how I looked,
and then he.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Got up and left.
Speaker 13 (22:52):
So I thought, after that instance, it was pretty clear
that I was not interested in that type of a relationship.
I thought it to stop after that, and it didn't.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
Now he is on that he was on that show,
The Oval.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Well, is he off the show?
Speaker 4 (23:08):
Yeah, he's not on that show anymore.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
And here's what he had to say about what happened
to his character after he'd turned down these advances.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
Allegedly, at the end of the second season, Dale gets
shot in the chest four times.
Speaker 13 (23:22):
What it meant to me was if I don't make
him happy, I could stay dead on the show.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
And the complaint specifically says, and I just want to
quote it, mister Perry made it clear to mister Dixon
that he would kill off mister Dixon's character if he
did not indulge mister Perry's sexual harassment. Was that message
clear to you?
Speaker 13 (23:38):
For me, that was his way of showing his power
over us in our careers.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Leave it to a gay man to be that dramatic.
Speaker 8 (23:45):
That's the most dramatic thing ever to kill you, to
get you stopped four times and be like, hey, we
could bring him back, but you.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
Got to act right right, And these are allegations. Now,
Another thing that Darrek Dixon is saying happened is that
he also talks about a time where he you know,
I was still trying to build this friendship that he
was hoping would result in more acting work with Tyler Perry.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Here's what he said.
Speaker 13 (24:11):
There was this health monitor scale and I was like,
what is that? And he said, well, you have to
be in an underwear to measure you know whatever, so
you should do it. He reached down and pulled my
under her down and grabbed my ass and I tried
to stop him and pulled back my underwear up and
he kind of grabbed my arms and said no, no, no,
it's okay, just go with it. And I said stop.
(24:31):
I don't want to be naked. I don't want this,
and he was just like, no, no, I'm not going
to hurt you and just continued.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
All right. Now.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
To be clear, Derek Dixon is suing Tyler Perry for
sexual harassment for two hundred and sixty million dollars.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
That's what that lawsuit is for.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
And he's also said that he doesn't want this to
happen to any other actor, so he wants to expose
all of this.
Speaker 13 (24:53):
Now.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
As far as Tyler Perry, they're saying this whole thing
is a scam, and his team is denying these allegations
and saying that it is basically extortion. Now here is
what else Derek Dixon had to say about money about
about the extortion.
Speaker 5 (25:12):
They described your actions as extortion. Were you looking for
money to buy your silence?
Speaker 14 (25:18):
No?
Speaker 13 (25:18):
I think I was looking for accountability to what he did.
It needed to be something that would deter him from
doing this to somebody else.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
All right, So that's basically why he's saying he's doing this.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Yeah, I mean, I love you, believe.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
Him what you do? Yeah, okay, I think.
Speaker 1 (25:37):
I mean, I mean, listen, have you.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
Heard things about Tyler Perry?
Speaker 8 (25:41):
But I have not. I'm not gonna say I have.
But that seems like I mean, I don't know if
he's making up. I mean, I don't know if he's
making I don't want to say he's everything he says
it's true, but I don't think everything is fabricated.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
Tyler Perry, Okay, he's a gay man, I don't allegedly
because I don't think he's ever said that.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Okay, right, yeah, I'm gay.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
Stop you said that. Don't do that. Don't do that now.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
I got a wife and kids at home, y'all.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
But in addition to all of this.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
You know, Derry Tix is saying he had a script
and a show that he that Tyler Perry said he
was going to do for him, produced for him and
owns the rights to.
Speaker 4 (26:15):
And now I guess that's probably dead in the water.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Yeah, I don't know why you'd make it up.
Speaker 8 (26:20):
I mean, I get trying to get money, like I
get that this I mean, but like, I don't know.
I think both of them was lying about something. I
don't know if maybe Tyler wasn't as egregious as this
dude is saying.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
But I don't think Tyler.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
But we just don't know.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
We don't know.
Speaker 3 (26:32):
You're Yeah, all we can do is you can just
say you're feeling but we have no idea.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
You'll re speculate. All right, Well, don't shake to Tyler.
Book me, baby, forget it now.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
Well that is your yee tee when we come back.
Ask Yee eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.
Any question you have, We're here to help you, help
you out again. That's eight hundred two nine fifty one
fifty Call us up.
Speaker 6 (26:51):
Ask Yee is next everybody since with its relationship for
career advice Angela's dropping facts.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
You should know this is ask what's up this way?
Put Angela? Yee, I'm here.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
I Kem Wodge is here with me today? All right, Well,
we have someone on the line today who wants to
remain anonymous.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
Now what is your question today for ask? Ye?
Speaker 14 (27:11):
I have a daughter who's in their twenties and we
do not have a good relationship. He's not willing to
give me for the past. The little orange. We can
have a better relationship. I'm really thankful she's able to
allow me to have a relationship with my grandchildren. There's
a lot of animosity. I'm a better mom to her
youngest soloings than I was to her, and she's got
(27:34):
her feelings about that. I don't know how to fix
it on my own.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
So you know that's hard because and I know people
who when they had their first kid, they just were
not ready to be a mom, so they made a
lot of mistakes that they beat themselves up over.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
How many kids do you have? Can I ask?
Speaker 14 (27:51):
It's six?
Speaker 1 (27:52):
Okay? Are you and you're closer to the younger ones?
Speaker 14 (27:55):
Yes, brother and I we have a good relationship. He
has her feelings about the past, but he's also forgiven me.
She said she's forgiven me, but whenever she's upset, everything
comes back, which is how I though she really hasn't.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Right and you've taken accountability for the fact that you know,
you definitely messed up a lot when she was younger,
and these are things that she's never really dealt with.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
Has she spoken to anybody?
Speaker 14 (28:18):
I don't know if she's spoken with anyone or not.
I would love to maybe go to count plaint together.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
Maybe she needs to talk to someone on her own
first so she can kind of sort through her feelings
and what is it is that she needs, because I
also think patience is important. This is something that's not
going to be an easy fix at all, So I
think first she probably needs to talk to somebody with
no one else around, somebody who doesn't know you, doesn't
know the situation. You know, doesn't know the situation, and
(28:44):
can give her certain tools and insight that she may
not know about before you guys do it together.
Speaker 14 (28:50):
Okay, that's all brave ife, thank you.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
There's so many issues that she may be blaming herself
for certain things.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
She may be blaming you.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
You don't even know the de to what it is
that there's probably things you don't even know about her
that she's been through that she's maybe never even shared
with you, And so maybe that means somebody who has
the tools to be able to help her move forward
and be able to at least start the healing process.
That's the type of person and help that she needs
right now. And then when she feels like she's able
(29:21):
to express herself and understand why she feels the way
that she does, that could be a good step toward you,
guys now having those harder conversations and really really healing
instead of saying I'm okay, but not being Okayla, thank
you forgiveness. When someone forgives you, that doesn't mean that
everything is okay and now we can sit down and
kick it. Sometimes that means, you know, I acknowledge what
(29:43):
you did and I'm freeing myself from that burden.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
But she's clearly not free from that burden.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
Yeah, And that's.
Speaker 14 (29:48):
Really what I want is just for her to be okay. Well,
she doesn't want a relation with me, I understand.
Speaker 11 (29:54):
I get it.
Speaker 14 (29:55):
I'll stand back and stam my lane.
Speaker 8 (29:56):
Well, all you can do is try and the fact
that you're trying will these show speaks to you as
a character, E speaks that you've changed from who you
were when you were raising her. So I mean, as
long as you're outarly trying as much as you can,
that's literally all you can do. It's up to her
to meet you halfway or the rest of the way.
So at least you're actively trying Turkey.
Speaker 4 (30:16):
Yeah, and you know, just like I said, be patient.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
It feels like she wants to be able to really heal,
but she hasn't been able to and sometimes people don't
have that breakthrough moment for years back.
Speaker 10 (30:29):
Thank you so much, all right, thank you keep going.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
To work on all right.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Well that was ask ye eight hundred and two ninety
two fifty one fifty any question. Like I said, we
are here to help you out, and when we come back,
it is a wealth. Wednesday, we have Nadine hy He
joining us. He is the founder of Daniel's Leather. And
if you don't know about Daniel's Leather, man, listen when
I tell you everybody has been wearing these coats, from
Mary d. Blige to Note to Wendy Williams, to Lebron James.
(30:58):
He's gonna talk to you about how he's started his
business from the ground up.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
All right, it's way up, kind a dream.
Speaker 8 (31:04):
Of wealthy and I don't mind sharing my.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
Wealth dog getting you straight financially, mentally and physically. This
is wealth Wednesday on Way Up with Angela.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Ye, what's up?
Speaker 3 (31:13):
His Way up with Angela Lee. I'm here with Mano,
known for his style. You know it's fashion week and
we got not Dan. Why heat here from Daniel's Leather?
What's up?
Speaker 1 (31:23):
I'm good, Angela? How are you?
Speaker 3 (31:25):
I'm amazing? Thank you for asking. You know I was
asking Mayna. I said, why is it called Daniel's leather.
Speaker 15 (31:31):
Daniel's leather is called because my son's name is danielle.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Okay, Well, people often make mistake and call you Dan.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
I think you're Daniel.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
I'm used to it, so I was like, they're sending
a representative. But Daniels Leather has been a staple here.
It's not easy to establish yourself in the way that
you've managed to do it. So we would love to
hear the story about how Daniels leather has become a
staple in New York. We've seen Nas, We've see Davido,
ghost face, sexy red, I mean everybody, you name it, Monica,
(32:01):
They've been to Daniel's Letter, they warned Daniel's letter. They've
had custom things done. But it's not an easy space
to be in.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
Now. You first came here from Pakistan? Is that correct?
Speaker 1 (32:11):
That is true?
Speaker 4 (32:11):
All right? So how long ago was that?
Speaker 15 (32:13):
That was a long long time ago. I thought I'm
going to be here only for eighteen months, finish my
master's in environmental engineering, and then go back. I got
my master's and never went back.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
And that's such a change in what it is that
you do now. Right now, Nadim, why Heat is here
with me in Mana, we're talking about fashion week and
he's the owner of Daniel's Leather. When did fashion become
what you knew was going to be your lane?
Speaker 15 (32:39):
I always had like a good eye for coordination and
good taste, but it was more accidental than anything. One
of my friends had bought like a hundred coaches from
Pakistan and he was unable to sell it. I was
working on a sixty two million dollar project in Camden,
and I told him, let me take these coats over there,
let's see what we can do.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
That is so funny that you were working on a
sixty two million dollar project, and you were trying to
help your friend with.
Speaker 15 (33:02):
A hundred sixty two million? Was my boss is sixty
two million. I was working as an engineer, but in
one day we sold.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
All the courts.
Speaker 15 (33:08):
Wow, how I think that the courts were good and
I'm a good saleman. So you got to have both
the things. You got to have the right look, and
then you've got to have the right person. A person
would only and only give you money if they like you.
This is what I teach my saleman. The customer have
to like you. If they like you and your product
is good, they will buy.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
That's a fact because when I go shopping sometimes if
I like the person and they're real cool and nice,
I feel like I should just buy something.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Like them.
Speaker 4 (33:35):
Then I'm like I rather not.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
I will even go to a store and look it
up online and order it online instead of buying it there,
even if I know I want it.
Speaker 15 (33:42):
No, it makes sense because it means they have to
respect your money.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
How do you get customers to like you?
Speaker 15 (33:48):
I mean, I think we are natural in this way
that they can see the authenticity. So from the beginning
that I put a code on a customer and if
I don't like it, I'm not selling it to them.
That person I would show them something as until them happy,
because when they are out on the street, they are
representing me and people trust me when it comes to that.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
All right, nadin why heat is here with me? And
new Mano.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Mano has his own shirling coat that Daniel's Leather has
produced is named after him because he's made it so popular.
He's the owner of Daniel's Leather. And it's a Wealth Wednesday.
We have more with him when we come back. It's
way yep.
Speaker 8 (34:21):
I've had a dream of wealthy and I don't mind
sharing my wealth dog.
Speaker 6 (34:25):
Getting you straight financially, mentally and physically. This is wealth Wednesday.
On way up with Angela.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
Ye, what's up? His way up with Angela? Yee?
Speaker 3 (34:32):
Happy Wealth Wednesday. We have Nadine Whahead here with us.
He is the owner of Daniel's Leather. Giving back is
also important, and that's something that you've been doing as well.
Speaker 15 (34:42):
I think that is to me, is the most important
part of whatever I do, more than my business, more
than anything else.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
What are some things that Daniel's Leather has done for
the community.
Speaker 15 (34:51):
We I mean, we do the court drives all the time.
We do donate about our thousand courtes every year. We
go to the shelters, we go to the community where
the kids really really need these courtes, like im in
so we just try to reach to the segment of
society that people have ignored.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
And I know you've been working with like Cardi B.
You work with Lebron James to do giveaways and things
like that. Those are the things that really warm my
heart too.
Speaker 1 (35:15):
The biggest one was with Lebron.
Speaker 15 (35:17):
Their team had contacted me and I had gone to
Ohio for his project. And the second one was in
the Marlborough Housing in Brooklyn with Cardi B.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Right now, Nadim why Heat is here with me in Mana.
We're talking about fashion Week and he's the owner of
Daniel's Leather. All right, now, you do have a show
on September twelfth.
Speaker 4 (35:35):
That one is.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Invitation only a September sixteenth though, you do have two shows.
Right there's an afternoon show and that one is for
people with disabilities kids and a family show.
Speaker 15 (35:45):
That is my favorite show out of all the shows.
They are so brave, they are achieving so much, and
I wanted to highlight those people. So I'm very excited.
I think it's like, literally we are making history because
we're gonna have about forty people on the wheelchairs and
they are all.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
So beautiful in style.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Right now, what is something that you think people should
be looking at if they're in the market for a
new code.
Speaker 15 (36:05):
I always say that go for the pieces that are timeless,
that can never go out of style. So you know,
that would be like a jean jacket shirling, a car code,
those are a good lookout, A classic trench code, those
can never go out of side.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Lastly, what would you tell somebody that's listening right now
that's like, this is a business that I'm interested in
getting into. Well, advice, If you could give them just
two pieces of advice for somebody that wants to get
into the type of business that you're in, what would
you say.
Speaker 15 (36:30):
I have this one third rule. I say that for
any business to be successful, it is one third talent,
one third hard work, and one third luck. Also important,
do not do what everybody else is doing and say, Okay,
I'm going to sell this thing cheaper, but I'm going
to make the same thing. Try to come up with
something and people will appreciate that. Come to something different,
something that stands out.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
All right, Well, thank you so much for joining us again.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
We appreciate it. September September sixteenth. It is our guy,
Nadine from Daniel's letter. They literally have like the most
popular coats crossed the nation. Everybody went to Daniel's leather coat.
So make sure you get yourself one. And when we
come back, you guys have the last word.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Take up the phone taping to get your voice heard.
What the word he is? The last word? On Way
Up with Angela?
Speaker 4 (37:16):
Yee ay, it's way Up with Angela.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Yee.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
I'm here, Akeim Wiz is here. Yeah, I've been running
myself ragged.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
You've been outside, girl.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
I feel like I don't know what's for, what's backward?
I don't know what's going on right now. I gotta
get it together. Wednesday's up here though.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
We have food.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
So the food was good. We had pizza, a nice.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Pizza yesterday and yes today there's ice cream today. I'm
eating vegan cookies and cream ice cream.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
What did you have?
Speaker 1 (37:45):
I don't know, girl, something with snickers in it. This
is called like the dream or something.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
It's the dream, all right, well again, Thank you so
much to our wealth Wednesday's guests and Nadine Wahie for
joining us from Daniel's Leather.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Oh yeah, we plug these shows.
Speaker 4 (37:59):

Speaker 8 (38:01):

but again, this is your show, so you have the
last word.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
