You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. You worked

You didn't have time to look at your fantasy lineups.
(00:43):
But don't be afraid. That's why we give you weekend
fantasy updates. All right, welcome about our number two of
(01:12):
Weekend Fantasy Update on the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. Joe
Galina along with the Fantasy Taz Jim Day. Yes we're reunited. U.
Jim and I used to host the Weekend Fantasy Update
the last football season, right Jim. A lot of fun
every Saturday. Yeah, yes, absolutely, And if you want to
(01:34):
join the fun, why should we be the ones constantly
entertaining you entertaining us? Give us a call eight four
four eight four three six eight seven. I we will
entertain any questions you have regarding uh, fantasy football, just
life in general, or each other. Sorry that it's alright, Jim.
(02:01):
That was just this timing right there, buddy. Yes, absolutely
absolutely so. Hey, if this whole fantasy thing doesn't work out, guys,
we could always become bacon interns of you. Hear about
this where uh this company is looking for uh an
intern to earn I think it's a thousand dollars for
(02:23):
the day, uh for tasting bacon. Okay, I gotta go, guys.
Where was that? Uh the California burger chain farmer boys
looking for an intern who will spend the day testing bacon.
Months big, There you go, There you go. So we're
(02:46):
having a lot of fun here on the Fantasy Sports
Radio Network and uh yeah, we were just talking raiders.
We were talking Antonio Brown and uh so just to
give you a little background and then we're gonna move on.
But the whole situation with the helmet and and and
Jim gave us a good insight into that where uh
uh Antonio Brown has officially petitioned the league in order
(03:10):
to be allowed to wear his older helmet. But according
to s I NFL ran a study of helmet performance
this past April identified eleven models that were to be
prohibited for the season at Rodgers and tom Brady's helmets
old helmets, no good. But uh, you know, they both
have complied with the rule, but the Tom Brady made
(03:31):
it known he's not happy about it. So, I don't know,
what do you think about Brady pulling his his kid
off the cliff and into the It's actually totally missed that, dude.
I don't know what you're talking about. Yeah, yeah, that
there was just this video that they went went around
and you know there's been uh videos in the past
(03:54):
that there was that video of Tom Brady a couple
of years ago and him kissing I think it was
his son on the lips and whatnot people talking about it,
but that there was a video of Tom Brady standing
on a cliff and just grabbing his kid and jumping
into a creek with it, and that people have nothing
better to do but the giving brief. So uh, what
(04:16):
does he care? But he doesn't care what people think
about it. You know what, He's having fun with his kid,
and he's spending time with his kid no matter what.
He does. I'm all for it and getting put up
his mansion for salf a thirty nine million. You know,
I just got a model life. Yeah, I know. I
was trying to see if I had it in my wallet,
(04:37):
but I didn't. Yeah, maybe we could, uh you know,
take a collection, a little go fund me. This way,
he could uh turned into the f the T S
Y headquarters. Right. Um, so let's move on and talk
about Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck. This is since the O
(04:57):
T A S He's been dealing with a calf injury
and uh still won't be practicing until the middle of
next week. Uh. Cults have been a notoriously tight lip
when it comes to injuries, especially Andrew Lux. You remember
the whole situation with the shoulder last year, and Uh,
like I said, I picked him up in the second
round of my Scottie Fishbow League. I was looking for
(05:19):
big things from him. Um should I mean, how we
should I be their gym? In terms of Andrew Luck,
you have to be worried at this point, and you
brought up all the reasons why. Um, there's no doubt
about it. They weren't very uh giving in the information
about the shoulder. They kept saying, Oh, he'll be good
(05:40):
to go next week, It'll be good to go next week,
until finally they got too far past it and they
couldn't say that anymore. I'm worried that this is the
same thing. This is the same injury that's been bothering
him since O t S. So it you know, these
kind of you know, soft tissue injuries in the calf,
especially for a quarterback, could linger for any number of
(06:01):
weeks and I am definitely worried about at this point.
It's not like we're gonna get to see him in
any preseason games at this point. Uh, he'll probably get
very limited practice time even if he is healthy. But
because of that, we won't really get a feel for
whether he's healthy or not. So going into Week one
at this point, I think it's gonna be a big
(06:21):
question mark. We just don't know what we're gonna get.
At the stage of you avoiding him, man, I really
don't want to be avoiding him. But then again, in
most drafts, again I don't go for the quarterbacks at early,
so he's not on a lot of my leagues. I
have him on a couple just because you have to
firstify you have to every once in a while do
(06:41):
something different. So I do have a couple of teams,
but I don't invest a lot in those early quarterbacks,
so I don't really have a lot on the line
with him, right, And you bring up diversification. I was
watching you guys did a draft yesterday and you're talking
about that. Yeah. I didn't get to see the whole
thing yet, but you know, I always having a lot
(07:03):
of fun with that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And you guys
brought up it's a great point, you know, I mean yourself,
you played a lot of leagues and Dane Martinez spitting speeds,
he plays in a lot of leagues, and he brought
up a point where you want to try to diversify
your roster for for many reasons. First of all, we're
(07:23):
in this industry and uh, you know, it gives us
an opportunity to closely follow different players. And then at
the same time, if you take too many shares of
the same pleasure, and god forbid, that player goes down
with an injury, then most of your squads, you know,
are affected, no, absolutely, and it definitely takes you down.
(07:46):
It can take down a lot of your leagues at
one time. If you don't diversify. Look, I understand going
to get your guys, and you want to get those
guys as often as you can. I get the idea.
I've done it too often to not get the idea.
But the problem is, if you grab those guys and
they're on a majority of your leagues and they either
get injured or don't perform anywhere near the standards you
(08:07):
were looking for, they could easily take your entire network
of leagues down at one fools point. So the object
here is, you know, go get your guys in a
lot of leagues that you want, but also at other leagues,
make sure you just branch off and take somebody different.
It's always good to have diversification in your portfolio. Says
(08:29):
the same thing as stocks. You don't want to put
all your money into one stock. If that one stock pins,
you're done. If you have it in a bunch of
different stocks, you're much well more protected. Great point, and
you see we're not just talking fantasy and we're talking life.
We're talking finances. We're here for you. So great great
(08:50):
point there um. But back to luck, So I get
it where you it doesn't affect you that much because
like many of us. You know, you wait on quarterbacks,
but what about the trickle that effect for guys like
t Y Hilton and uh you know, uh yeah, Ebrod
and the and the and the Jack Doyle's, you know,
(09:11):
the guys that he's throwing the ball to. You know,
does that make you think twice about drafting these guys?
The potential? I really haven't taken it to that load yet. Um,
you know, to that point, as you can get closer
to the season, that may start to come in. If
we're not getting any kind of positive reports on Luck,
that may start to creep in there. Um. But you know,
(09:36):
it's just hard to think about the guys that behind
him and whether or not they're gonna be able to
do it. I mean, you got Jacobe for set there,
who's really untested at this point. Um, you know, it
just he hasn't had a chance to do anything, so
we don't know if he can can do it or not.
And you know, the biggest year he had was in
T seventeen. He did okay through for over three thousand yards,
(09:59):
but it only had thirteen touchdowns. So if you're looking
at him as the starter because Luck's not starting, then
obviously everybody down the chain takes a huge hit. Uh,
running Backs, wide receivers, everybody takes a huge hit. Tight ends.
You need Luck in there for all of these guys
to be fantasy viable. If he's not there, then the
entire team takes a huge hit. Yeah, and such a
(10:21):
shame because, like you know, we got to see the
luck of old last year. And what we got to
see too with the Colts is they finally had invested
in that offensive line and they gave him an opportunity.
You know, the in sixteen, the last time he was
a regular starter, Luck was sacked forty one times. Last
(10:41):
year sacked just eighteen. So I mean I was looking.
I was, you know, looking for great things out of
out of of luck the season and kind of like
I think that you're who's your number one quarterback other
than Mahomes? Is it is it Watson at this stage? Yeah?
It is. Actually I think Watson has a chance to
unseat Mahomes is the number one this year. M Wow, okay, Uh,
(11:07):
would you think about since we're talking to bring up Watson, Um,
would you think about the the addition of Duke Johnson?
I absolutely love it, Um, perfect move for them fits
exactly what they're trying to do. And I think once
him and Watson get a chance to work together and
(11:29):
Watson sees what he can do on the field, I
think he's gonna become a great target for Watson because
he's ultra talented. For I don't even I can't even
begin to explain why Cleveland wasn't using him. I really can't.
Makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. Um, but it
you know, it has multiple layers here. I think all
(11:49):
of a sudden, Duke Johnson is gonna fly up into
anywhere between the late seventh round and the ninth round
in drafts. I think he has that in him. Look,
it was only a couple of years ago where he
was an Umber eleven fantasy running back because of his
prowess in the in the passing game, and that's exactly
what Houston needs. Lamar Miller is an okay back. He's
nothing outstanding, but he's not terrible either. He's a starting
(12:11):
NFL running back. You know what, folks, You can say
what you want, but demand is an NFL starting running back.
That's good. Um. The problem is he's not great and
he doesn't really stand out. But with Duke Johnson there
as the number two, as the passing down back who
can even run a little bit when needed. So he
gives you a little bit more versatility. I think it
(12:32):
really ups this the anti for this offense. I thought
it was a great trade for Houston. Uh they got
up for a fourth round pick or depending on I
think it's playing time. But I haven't really seen the
update of what the condition is. But there's a condition
on it that if he gets so much of something,
it could be a third round pick for Cleveland. Uh,
so that works as well. And you know, on the
(12:52):
Cleveland side, it really solidifies jub as you know, at
least for the first ten weeks, as being a really
top notch, you know, early second round pick because they're
gonna use him in the passing game a little bit more.
They're gonna, you know, make sure he's more involved. Of course,
once Hunt comes back, that's gonna throw a little wrench
into it. But we'll see on that. But but the
other side of the coin is what it does is
(13:13):
it also brings up don Trelle Hilliard on Cleveland. They
you know, they've been saying all preseason they like this kid.
They think they can trust him, They think they can
use him in multiple ways, and now they're going to
get a chance to see. I'm not saying he's the
guy that you absolutely go right out and draft right now.
Don't because Chub is gonna be there back for most downs.
(13:34):
But Hilliard, if anything happens, Hilliard right now looks to
be the first guy up and may get that shot.
So just keep him on speed dial for your waivers.
Keep an eye on the situation. If anything happens to Chub,
go out and grab Hilliard. Yeah, keep Dontrell Hilliott on
your watchlessness. Absolutely. So what do you like about about
(13:54):
Watson this year? Uh, that you think that he'd be
able to unsee I mean, obviously he's got my uh estimation,
and it's also you know, it's it's an individual preference,
but I think DeAndre Hopkins number one wide receiver in football. Uh,
you know you got Will Fuller, big play receiver. Has
(14:17):
been dealing with the injuries Kiki Kote, who I loved,
but h he's gonna be playing out of the slot.
He just uh came up with a little injury, and
I'm starting to get a little worried about him in
terms of his you know, injury prone, noess, but what
do you like about about Watson this year that you
think that he could unseat Mahomes? Well, first off, I
(14:40):
mean you're talking about a guy who who played a
lot last year where he was injured, talking about a
bad oldline. He was getting dectimated. Uh, and you know,
getting hit all the time, and he still ended up
as the fourth scoring fantasy quarterback. Uh. Even with all that,
with the injuries to Will Fuller, Kiki Kute Moves miss
(15:00):
most of the season, you know, using DeAndre Hopkins and mirrors, Uh,
he's still put up amazing stats over passing yards twenty
six passing touchdowns to only nine interceptions. Great ratio there.
And then he put you know, uh, five touchdowns on
the ground as well, so you know he gives you
(15:21):
a little bit of that also, and you want to
see that those added rushing yards, those added rushing touchdowns
give a quarterback a nice floor and you'd like to
see that from those guys. And then when you could
throw as well as he can, I just think he's
ready to take the next step. They've made some changes
to that offensive line. I'm not gonna say it's automatically
gonna be better because you know, I say this a lot,
(15:43):
but I gotta say it again different audience. I want
to make sure people understand that offensive lines, even with
new people, they take some time to gel. You have
to get the chemistry right. You have to, you know,
learn to be able to work with each other and
know what the other guy's gonna do, so you know
what you're gonna do. These are all key points. So
they did bring in some new faces that I think
(16:04):
will upgrade the line. And if that is the case,
if they do play better, then I think Watson has
every chance to become that elite quarterback because looking at
passing yards over thirty, passing touchdowns, um, and you know,
with minimal turnovers. So I really do like Watson a
lot this year, and he's definitely somebody I'm I'm investing
(16:25):
in in a couple of leagues just because you if
you want to go quarterback early, you can usually get
him three to four rounds past where my homes is going.
And what do you think about his receiving corps outside
of Hopkins I mentioned will stay healthy. It's as simple
as that. They just need to stay healthy. Um. You know,
(16:47):
both Will Fuller and Kiki Kute have flashed big time,
especially Fuller. Watson seems to love Fuller. He feels really comfortable. Yeah,
in any situation, contested balls, uncontacted balls, he doesn't have
a problem throwing the ball to him. If he stays
on the field for even thirteen or fourteen weeks, we're
gonna see a great season out of him. Kiki could
(17:09):
take gives him a nice option, uh that where he
can play in the slot, can play outside. He's just
gotta stay healthy as well. And right now again he's hurt,
so it's just hurting his value a little bit. But
that's where Duke Johnson is really going to come into play.
If Kiki hu Day misses a lot of time this year,
Duke Johnson is going to be an RV too. H Yeah,
(17:29):
Whute you could probably get him somewhere around the fourteenth round,
and Fuller you get him somewhere around the eighth round.
This is a typical uh twelve team league. So like
I said, you know, I was really uh high one,
but getting hurt again just excares me a little bit
of Uh. It's just about it should Yeah, all right,
(17:51):

(18:48):
Fantish Fantasy Sports Radio Network Weekend Fantasy Update, juggling along
with Jim Day the Fantasy Tash Shawn Angle for us
on our show. What's going on then, Jim, Well, we
just uh, you know, I'm on Twitter all the time
and when we're doing the show, and uh, Pro Football
Focus Fantasy just put out a great stat about George
(19:09):
kittle Inen. He had zero point six to fantasy points
per root run with Nick Mullins under center, so point
six too. With Jimmy Garoppolo under center, he had point
four oh fantasy points per route run at those paces.
With a full season with either one. With Mullins, he
(19:32):
would have scored a hundred and three point eight more
fantasy points than he would have with a full season
of Garoppolo. Interesting, Yeah, that's a great stat I think
Nick Bollins played great last year, and man, I'm surprised
that they didn't try and move him and get something
for him if they really do believe Garoppolo is their
(19:52):
guy going forward. Maybe not the yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah. Mulla did surprise, uh, the way he played
in limited time last year, But I haven't gotten loves him,
ye self loves him because he's a very hard worker.
(20:13):
He's very knowledgeable about the game. I believe his father
is a coach, so he knows the game inside. Now.
He puts a lot of work in. Uh he's always
in the meeting rooms and in some of them he
acts almost like a pseudo coach, and you could love
to see that, especially from a quarterback. So if Garoppolo
falters again, don't be surprised. If we're looking at Nick
Mullins is the next, you know, step up quarterback for
(20:36):
San Francisco. Yeah, I'm looking at some of his game
logs from last season. Uh, you know, in a in
a forty three to sixteen loss against Seattle at Seattle
passing yards two touchdowns. Uh against Denver in a win
(20:59):
four team they won three two passing yards, two touchdown. Yeah.
Remembering back, he really uh performed better than what we
we thought we would see out of him. Well, nobody
knew who he was before he stepped on the field.
Let's face it, nobody fantasy analysts was really talking about
and nobody thought anything about him. And then he steps
(21:21):
on the field and you know, great. He wasn't the
greatest quarterback that ever stepped on the field, nobody's saying that.
But he played great considering he came out of nowhere,
and when you add into the fact that, you know,
Kittle was his number one receiver, and then there was
nothing after that. Everybody else was hurt on and off
all year. And the fact of the matter is he
played very well for them, and he's still not being
(21:43):
talked about, which I think is stupid. I think another
team should have made a play for him. Especially some
of these teams you know that are running. I'd rather
have a Nick Mullins as my backup than Ryan Tannehill. Absolutely,
at least you have some chance of future upside with
Mullins that you just don't have with Tannahill. Mm hmm.
And Garoppolo quarterback nineteen according to nff C A dps.
(22:09):
Uh is he a guy? What do you think about
Garoppolo for for for the season? I like Garoppolo as
a quarterback, I do. I think he has all the tools,
but he has yet to really put it all together
on the field for you know, either the NFL or fantasy.
So again, with such a stacked group of quarterbacks this year,
(22:31):
I find I don't think I have a single ownership
of Garoppolo in any of my league's mhm uh. In
in that lead I was telling you about where it
was my wife's friends league. I ended up picking him up,
and of course he went down with a season ending injury.
And when you look at you know, his his wide
receivers this season. Dante Pettis uh, some people think might
(22:53):
have some sleep or potential. Marquis Goodwin, You're gonna get
him started on Dante Pettis again. Oh why not good? Good?
He's having a he's having a terrible camp. Um. He's
been absolutely bad in the camp so far. He's dropping
balls all over the field. Um, he's making some bone
(23:13):
head plays according to local people writers. Heck, I'm not there.
I'm not watching the field, so I gotta take it
from the guys who are. And these are the beat writers.
And there's a reason that I follow over fifty beat
writers on Twitter so I can find out all this information.
And he's been having a terrible camp. Um. And and
the weird part about it is he has never been
(23:34):
known as somebody who drops balls. It wasn't something he
did in college or before that. So this is something new.
And I've kind of formulated an idea or a theory why.
I have no idea if this is valid or not.
And I'd love to hear if anybody else has any
thoughts on it. But the one thing that nobody ever
takes into consideration when you're talking about quarterbacks and wide
(23:55):
receivers is every quarterback throws the ball differently. They all
have different spends to their ball, they have all have
different touches to their ball. Some guys can throw with
a light touch. Other guys throw freaking hammers, Guys like
far things like that. Michael Vick early in his career,
we just drew one speed and that was damn fast.
Watch your hands are gonna hurt um. And you know,
(24:16):
so everybody throws the ball differently. Now, Pettis did all
his damage last year with Mullins. Garoppolo was already out,
he wasn't playing at that point. It was all with Mullins.
And now all of a sudden he does have Garoppolo
throwing the ball to him. I'm wondering if the difference
between the passers and the way the ball is getting
to him is causing him to drop these balls early.
(24:41):
That's a great point. That's a great point. I think
there's a lot of things. I mean, that's that's one
of them. Maybe now that he comes in as the
de facto wide receiver one, maybe that's a lot of
times we don't take uh, you know, just them a
player's psyche into consideration, right, and and that's part of it.
But I think that you have a more scientific explanation
(25:04):
than they could very well be be it. I mean,
and you look at what he did last season four
for seventy seven and a touchdown against Tampa Bay five,
two touchdowns against Seattle, UH three forty nine a touchdown
against the Denver So for a spin of about three weeks,
he had his fantasy UH players excited. Yeah, no, absolutely,
(25:28):
he's a good wide receiver. I like the kid, you know,
And I was talking about him with my new co
host on my Friday night show, Dwayne McFarland, and um,
he's excellent at uncovering himself. He's great in and out
of his breaks. He creates good separation, he creates great
throwing lanes for quarterbacks, and those are key to a
(25:52):
good quarterback wide receiver relationship. If a quarterback knows that
the guy he's trying to throw too is gonna find
the right place to be and create separation at the
same time, those become key targets. And I absolutely believe
that Dante Pettis is gonna be a great wide receiver
in this league at one point because he has all
the tools. He's just gotta put it fully together. I
(26:15):
just don't know if it's gonna be this year. You know,
it might be even later into the season where it
really starts to come together. I'm not exactly sure, but
at some point he is definitely gonna explode. All right,
Um so, I I teased at the end of the
last segment we talk a little bit of Giants football.
You and I have both Giants fans, uh, and what's
(26:38):
what's happened is the team is disheartening. I'd say, right
what they what they've become. But so we we got
to see Daniel Jones the air apparent to Eli Manning
in preseason, Uh looked sharp when five five had a
nice back corner touchdown past Benny Falor Uh, Eli just
(27:02):
on the on the field for one series got booed
off the field didn't really move so boy. So yeah,
you know, I had had this conversation with Mike Blewett.
I spoke to George Kurtz, who are part of this
show usually, and I was wondering, since you're a Giants fan,
how long before you think that we see Daniel Jones
(27:24):
as the starting a quarterback for the New York Giants.
It's really gonna come down to if they're winning, and
that it really is. Um, if they get out of
the gate early and they're winning games, you know, you
can say what you want about the Giants the last
couple of season losing records. I get all of that.
I get the reasons why. But they do have the
player personnel to put up good points. Um. You know,
(27:48):
I know that the wide receiver corps has taken a
hit with the injury the Sterling Sharp's finger, but he
should be ready for that. Um, you know, he should
be ready for the start of the season, Golden Tate.
Of course, missing the first four games doesn't help. Uh, Coleman,
Corey Coleman going down doesn't help. But you know, Evan
Ingram is there, you got of course, Barkley is there,
(28:11):
and you know, hopefully improved oldline. Uh. They've definitely kept
getting Kevin Zeisler was a great improvement there. And I
think this old line played better down the stretch last
year when they were moving Eli out of the pocket,
not making him such a second you know, uh target
that just sat there in Stone. So I think that
played well. I think we see a lot more of
(28:32):
that to start this year. So if all of that
comes together and the defense plays better, you know, they
could get out of the gate winning games. If they're
winning games, then Jones isn't coming on the field. If
they're losing games right out of the gate and they start,
you know, getting to that one in four range, at
that point you have to bring Jones in. Why not?
It's obvious that ain't working with Eli. You might as
(28:53):
well give the young gun, uh the chance to do it. Look,
that's what happened with Kurt Warner. I mean he was
even winning games, and they said, you know what, we
want to go to the young guy. Let's just do
it now and make the change. Um. I could see
them doing at some point this this season, But I
really I do think it's gonna be predicated on how
they start the season one loss wise, right, That's a
(29:16):
that's a very good point. Uh. And uh, if you
look at the way they start this season, um at Dallas,
I don't know, if you you want to go through it.
One loss with me is at Dallas. Do you see
them winning opening the season? I could see them beating Dallas,
especially Zeke's out there. UM, if he's sitting out at
(29:38):
that game to try and really talk about that, Um,
then I could see them. When you look they they've
gone into Dallas and beat him before, and they actually
beat him in the furry first game they ever played
in their own home stadium back a few years ago
when they first opened it, that Johnants can came in
and beat them, which really must have pissed Jerry Jones
off to know extent um. So yeah, I think they
(30:02):
could be beaten now. But if Zeke's on the field,
I do expect a lot from this Dallas offense. So
right now, going with the president that I do think
Zeke will be on field Week one, I don't think
they went. I think they lose that game. There you go.
Uh So then the home to Buffalo Buffalo, I mean
it is going to be an interesting team this year
(30:23):
to to watch good defense, right, Uh? Great? Fosh Allen?
Yeah yeah, Josh Allen, uh down the stretch. I think
in the last five weeks, I think he was was
he the number one quarterback or damn near close? He
was the number one fantasy quarterback guess, but that was
all done on the ground. I mean overt of his
(30:43):
his fantasy football points came from running the ball, not
from falling the ball um and that doesn't really stack
up well against the Giants, as Giants will do pretty
good against him. So I think they beat Buffalo. Okay,
So we have one on one at Tampa Bay. Oh,
that's gonna be a tough one. Will will the Giant
(31:03):
secondary be able to hold up under this passing attack
of Bruce Arians and and Byron Leftage. Um. I've been
telling all all offseason. I love Bruce Arians. I love
what he did with with Arizona back in the day
and Carson Palmer, and I think he could absolutely do
that with Jamis Winston. And if you go back and
look at last year, even though it was up and
(31:25):
down between Winston and Fitzpatrick all year, Um, if you
combine the two of them together, they were in the
number for five overall quarterback Because they have to throw
the ball so much. They have to. They have no
trust that defense is still terrible, Um, And it's not.
I don't see it really getting much better this year.
So they have to throw to keep themselves in the game.
(31:46):
And now you've got a coach that loves to throw
the ball, he wants to go down to the field.
You got Jamis Winston who loves us to throw the
ball down the field. Um. And you got Mike and
Evans on one side. You've got Chris Godwin playing in
the slot and I'm not gonna be surprised at all
if got Brashod Perrriman on the other side. And I'm
actually looking for good things from Perryman this year because
I talt down the stretch with Cleveland last year. He's
(32:07):
showed signs of that he's getting better and he's gonna
be good to go, and I love him as a
deep sleeper for me this year. So not all being said,
I am Tampa Bay, Dama Bay. You know what, I'm
gonna go with Tampa Bay. Mm hmm. Alright. So they
wanted to and then then they play Washington at home.
(32:28):
I think they'd be Washington. I think Washington is gonna
especially early in the season. I think Washington will get
better as the year goes on. Early this season though,
I think they're gonna be, you know, kind of right.
Then they go to Minnesota and then the next to
gonna lose that one. No, no, no, they play home
to Minnesota. I apologize, but we're still gonna lose that one,
(32:49):
and then go up to New England and lose that
one as well. And now you know what New England.
You know, if season that commanding still there, if Manning
is still starting quarterback. I give the Giants every chance
to win that game because Manning has always seemed to
step up against them, whether it be regular season or not. Right,
(33:12):
so you actually give him a win? Huh. Yeah, I'm
gonna give him a win. I'll give him the upset
you go there, you go the eli of Old. So
I have him at three and three right there. Then
they home to Arizona. Yeah, I don't think they're gonna
I don't think they have to speed to match up
with what Arizona wants to do on offense. I'm not
(33:33):
saying it's a hundred percent that Arizona is gonna be
able to pull off that offense, but if they get
even close to that, I don't think the Giants defense
has to speed to keep up with it. I'm gonna
give that win to Arizona. Okay, So we have a
three and four. Uh the next three games as they
headed to thereby at Detroit, home to Dallas, and at
(33:56):
New York Jets, even though they play in the same stadium.
Oh so two and one out of those three games.
So what are we up to? Uh? Five and five?
Then are you giving it? I'm giving him for Detroit.
I'm giving him away for Detroit. I'm giving him away
for the the Jets. You always seem to play the
Jets tough and just that whole stadium thing. Um, what
(34:19):
was the other team? I was sorry? Dallas? Dallas? Yeah,
so yeah, five and five, so so heading into the bye,
which would you know, a lot of people think that
that would be like a perfect time if you're gonna
introduce Jones into the equation. Right man, at five and five,
they're probably still fighting for a playoff spot. I think
(34:40):
that ELI probably still be in there, especially since right
outside of the by they take on they go to Chicago,
take on a tough Bears defense. Now, I don't think
that's the kind of game that you want to introduce
Jones to, right Jones would be honest, I wouldn't. Yeah,
those next three games at Chicago, home to Green Bay,
(35:01):
and then at Philadelphia, that's a little bit of a
tough stretch right there. Oh um. Yeah, And I definitely
think they lose at least two of those games. M hmm.
I'm not gonna say which ones. I think they have
a chance. Yeah, they will. They will end up right
six and seven, And then they played Miami, which will
(35:23):
give him a win there seven and seven. Then at
Washington Philadelphia, maybe they split those two. Are you kidding me?
We have the Giants at eight and eight, but Backs rolls, well,
he's very possible. It's not very possible. We get Fantasy

Saturday afternoon, Jogolina. They follow me at Jogolina on Twitter,
(38:07):
and you've got Jim Day, the Fantasy Taz at Fantasy Tazz,
and uh Sean Ankle keeping us flying straight as always.
So let's continue looking at does some of the uh
preseason action, some of the names that we've been interested in,
and of course, UH Kyler Murray number one overall pick
(38:30):
uh six for seven. UH in his debut, UH looked good,
accurated to roll out and we knew he, you know,
had that ability. Key's gonna be for him to get
that ball out of his hands quickly. UH. This season
offensive line to me, Jim, I don't think they've the
Cardinals have done enough to improve that offensive line's a
(38:50):
little bit shaky from me. But let's face it, Murray's
gonna be fun to watch. I mean, I was looking
at this play. Uh he was running an RPO where
it looked like is gonna run the ball, but it's
dead through a screen. So you know, it's just a
lot of different things that are part of this air
raid system there, Jim Day, there there's a couple of
things I really like about Murray and and one of
(39:12):
them is his accuracy is off the charts. Uh. The
man could definitely thread a needle. And I love that.
I love quarterbacks who could actually hit the targets they're
going for. Eli. Um, you know when when you can
actually throw the ball on a nice tight spiral into
a tight window, you know, that's great. Um So, Eli
watch um learn maybe too late, but try it anyway.
(39:36):
Um So I like that about him, And you're right,
they didn't do enough to really upgrade this offensive line
a ton, But I don't really think it matters that.
The whole key with Kyler Murray, with them building this
entire offense around his strengths, is that he's not going
to be standing behind that old line being a statue.
They're gonna constantly be moving him left right, you know,
(39:58):
getting him on the move, because he throws excellent. When
he's moving. He can pinpoint the ball as much while
he's on the run as he can from standing in
the pocket. So when you can move him right and
left every single play, defenders can't key on where he's
gonna be. And he's fast enough and agile enough to
create separation and a lot of those moves as well,
(40:20):
Plus he can run. He doesn't want to run, that's
not really his game, but he can if he needs to.
But he's almost always looking downfield to see where he
can go with the ball, even when he's running. And
I love that aspect about him. And again, it really
is if that's what the game plan is going to be.
If they're moving and shaking and running r P A.
S ohs and moving him around all the time, they're
(40:42):
gonna keep defenses on their heels no matter how bad
the offensive line is. Again, we just talked about this
with the Giants and what they did down the stretch
with Eli. They got him out of the pocket and
all of a sudden, Hellies numbers went up and the
offense went up. And I think that's what we're looking
at from Kyler Murray, but on a whole different scale,
just because he is that much better when he's on
the move, right, right, And what do you think about
(41:04):
this air rate system? Basically a very fast paced offense
version of the run and shoot. You're probably gonna see
a lot of four wide receiver sets, and let's talk
about how it's gonna affect fantasy. I mean, obviously, Larry Fitzgerald,
the incumbent UH sixty nine catches last season. What are
your expectations for Fitzgerald this year? I mean, still gonna
(41:24):
be playing out of the slot, right, Uh, you think
that ad plus catches could be out of the question
for him, Not at all. I think Fitzgerald is gonna
be a wide receiver to this year. Look, I still
believe in him firmly. That entire offense was just off
the charts last year bad. Uh. That the play calling
was wasn't good, The offensive line play was terrible, the
(41:44):
quarterback play was terrible. Um, all the way across the board.
I think Fitzgerald. You know, everybody's counting on big things
from Kyler Murray and his offense, and everybody's buying into
Christian Kirk. Meanwhile, they keep passing by Larry Fitzgerald because
oh he's the old guy. Well you know what, that's
better shaped And almost all of us listening or talking
on this show, and most of the people in the NFL,
(42:06):
he's in great shape. He always is. He's a technician
in the game. He understands the game better than most
people do. And you know, he's just that much smarter now.
It always you know, it always comes back to me.
I think of it as a starting pitcher in the end.
In the major leagues, when they're young and they're throwing fireballs,
that's one thing. As they get older and all of
(42:28):
a sudden they can't throw those fireballs anymore. The good
ones go on to become better technicians. They know how
to place the ball where they want to, They know
how to you know, when to throw off speed pitches,
things like that. They're just more knowledgeable. Well that's Larry Fits.
If you expect his cardinal offense to be better, Fits
is gonna be a huge part of that. And I
(42:49):
love him and I've been grabbing him all over the place.
And I know we talked about diversification, but you know,
when you start getting into rounds eight and nine, I'm
not worried about the versifications because they're not gonna blow
up my team. You know, it's those, you know, first
four or five rounds where you really wanted to first,
because those are the guys that can really blow up
your team. If you're talking about a war wide receiver
(43:10):
four or five, which is where Fitzgerald is coming off
the board most drafts, He's not gonna blow up your team.
You know, you didn't draft him as a starter, so
it's not gonna if he goes down then you know,
it doesn't bother me at all. But I don't expect
that in this offense. I expect him to lead to
charge and I expect him to be the leading receiver
on that team when all is said and done. So
(43:31):
I have no problem grabbing him. And I do think
he's gonna come out as a wilde receiver too. There
you go. Yeah, based on his a DP in a
typical twelve team league, he's going around the ninth rightth round.
So uh, if he you know, I'm with you. I
think he has a potentially become a wide receiver too.
And if he does, Uh, drafted him in the ninth,
tenth round. Nice value there. So it's all about value.
(43:55):
Everything should be about value. Yeah, it's not always about
the best player, it's about the best value. Mm hmmm. Um.
Any of these other young receivers that you like from
the Cardinals. I mean, like I said, uh, probably gonna
feature a lot of four wide receiver sets. Uh. You
mentioned well Christian Kirk, second year wide receiver. Uh, he's
(44:20):
probably around the seventh round. Value and then not value,
but you probably get him seventh round, maybe eighth round. Uh.
And let's take a look at other second round wide receivers.
We mentioned Kiki Kuta, He's probably a ninth round guy.
And and how about Anthony Miller from the Bears. So
I'm giving you three second round guys. Now, Anthony Miller,
(44:43):
you could probably get in the eleventh round. A cell
of those three, Christian Kirk, Kota and Anthony Miller. Uh,
the the who do you like Bastard? Maybe there's other
second year wide receivers like the Courtland Sutton's, the Shawn Hamilton's. Uh,
you know any second year wide he was in a
really that really stand out for you. Well, I do
(45:04):
I do like Kirk. I think Kirk is absolutely gonna
be that guy. I like Anthony Miller. I think he
takes a step forward. Um. I like Curtis Samuel. I
think he takes a nice step forward. You know, there's
definitely some players there that that are gonna, you know,
really step up in their game in year two. You know,
in the old days, it was always third year for
wide receivers. You had to wait till they got to
(45:24):
the third year. Well, we don't have to wait there anymore.
We get a lot of good guys in first year,
we definitely get a lot step up in year two,
and you know, that whole third year thing is out
the window. So I do think there's quite a few
second year players that will step up big this year. Um.
And you know, Curtis Samuel is probably one of my favorites,
but Christian Kirk is right up there as well. He
(45:45):
played well for them last year. And you know, even
though he had been predominantly a slot guy before last year,
he moved to the outside and played well on the outside,
and I think that trend continues. And then the other
two guys I really like in this offense, or of
both rookies, Andy Isabella and Keishawn Johnson, have both been
making some really steady plays in in the training camp
(46:07):
and O T A s. And the coaches are really
liking him. I mean, Keishawn is getting a lot of
a lot of the upper hype, but Isabella, I think
he's gonna end up being a better wide receiver than
Keishawn Johnson is I think Keishawn Johnson maybe that flashy
guy that makes those big plays from here and there.
I think Andy Isabella will be a much more steady
(46:27):
wide receiver that you can count on from week to week.
So yeah, if this offense again, if this offense is
gonna be half as good as people expect, if they're
gonna even run anywhere near close to eighty plays a
week or ninety that they were talking about. I doubt
they hit the ninety, but even eight plays a week
you're talking, there's gonna be plenty of fantasy goodness to
go around here. M M agree with you right there. Uh.
(46:53):
David Johnson running back, I've been talking to cell phone,
you know, leading at this season, telling everybody to take
him in the first round. What do he staid on?
David Johnson is part of this? Uh? This offense is
fast moving, uh, high powered offense. I love David Johnson.
I am all over David Johnson. I have him as
(47:13):
my number five ish why running back right now, and
you know, if he continues to hold out, he'll move
ahead of zeke Um. I do I think in this
offense with them moving the ball all around and you know,
making it so that there's no firm pocket, which I
think you have to do behind the bad offensive line,
I think it's just gonna open up holes for David
(47:34):
Johnson left and right. And I definitely believe that he's
gonna make big use of that. And I love him
this year, and I'm getting closer and closer to moving
him up into that top tier the more I see
of him. M hmm. There you go. And you know
we kind of you mentioned Zeke and we really haven't
talked about Zeke and Melvin Gordon. It's too high profile holdouts.
(48:00):
So uh yeah, I'm with you, by the way, with
the David Johnson loved um, But talk to me a
little bit about Zeki Elliott and what's going on there.
What do you think, how do you think this ends up?
I mean, you know, uh, you know, you know, there's
a lot of posturing. You know, like was it a
week ago Jerry Jones, owner of the Cowboys, had said,
you know that I think he said, I'm paraphrasing where
(48:23):
he doesn't remember time where a super Bowl championship was
one based on a a star running back. So except
that three of his wait, wait, except that three of
his super Bowls were one with Emmett Smith a top
running back. So great going there, Verry Um, way to
step on your tongue. Um, you know. But again, like
(48:46):
you said, and as you alluded to, all posturing, he's
trying to make it seem that he'd be okay going
into this season without ezekiel Elli, you know what, he
won't be, especially when Game one is against the Giants.
There's no way he wants to lose that game, especially
at home. He absolutely doesn't, especially when there's so much
hype of this team. Zeke is gonna get paid. Zeke
(49:07):
is going to be on the field week one. I
can almost freaking guarantee. As a matter of fact, I'm
sure that's gonna happen. Of course, they're talking up Tony
Pollard now explosively looks, and how good of receiver he is.
I get all that, but he's not Zeke, he says,
not Zeke. He's not even close to Zeke yet. So
you know, at some point he may get to be
(49:28):
a good running back, but he's not Zeeke. And I
just can't see Jerry Dufon's letting Zeek sit on the sideline.
I absolutely believe Zekel being ready to go a week one.
How much of what happened last year with Levian Bell
do you think has fantasy players a little scared. And then,
let's face it, that was a one time thing. I
mean you might be a two times he'll talk about
(49:50):
that next. Yeah, it absolutely does. It plays into anytime
you see these guys now holding out. The first thought
in people's minds is is Levian Bell? But two totally
different things. You got a guy who wasn't under contract
versus a guy who is under contract. And you know,
there's just too many different wrinkles here for those to
(50:10):
be equivalent. Um, and I just don't see it happening.
We're you know, Pittsburgh felt fine and the guys they
had behind Bell and they weren't going to capitulate. I
absolutely don't think Jerry Jones is fine with going from
Ezekiel Elliott to Tony Bollard and Alfred Mars right right? Uh,
how much on that? And so how are you concerned?
(50:33):
Let's say, if you have a top four pick. You know,
before this all started, Zeke was you know maybe in
some instances that number one overall pick number two very
little to overall number four. You remember our old coach
Bill parselves because you were old, you and I are
old Giants. Fans always just say you can hold out.
(50:53):
But you know, I've seen a lot of times people
hold out and ends up in an injury. Are you
concerned enough maybe to uh, you know, to not take
a zeke in a in a in a in a draft.
How concern know you that he's actually, you know, not practicing?
Not really, I'm not, Yeah, I'm not. These guys are
(51:16):
smarter these days. They realize that they have to stay
in shape even if they're holding out, if they're gonna
come back and be ready. Yeah, it doesn't matter where
you are. You can practice anywhere. Run on the damn sand.
It worked for Rocky, Um, why didn't worked for him? Yeah? Right,
So I'm not really worried about that aspect of it.
(51:38):
Could it happen? Absolutely? Could U? You can't. Just the
one thing I have learned about fantasy football is you
can never say never. You absolutely can't. If somebody would
have come to you in the middle of the season
week nine last year and said, you know what, Damian
Williams is going to be a fantasy stud for the
rest of the year, you would have been like, who
what are you talking about? C J. Anderson too, right,
(52:01):
So you know you can't say never. Um, you just
can't say never. But I don't think so. I don't.
I think he'll be fine. I'm not really worried about him.
Like you said. You know, I have the top four
that I've had pretty much in the same tier since
the beginning, and you know we're talking of course, Barkley, Zeke, Uh,
Christian McCaffrey, and Camara. They've been my top four and
(52:23):
I'm okay with anyone in them. Want to three or four,
you can make cases for all four them. And as
I mentioned before, you know, David Johnson is slowly creeping
up into that Saint here for me now and I
think really close to being in that year. So I'm
okay with switching guys around. But right now, until he signs,
he probably falls to the end of that four. There
(52:44):
you go, There you go. Uh, as we got head
out into commercial. Uh your favorite baseball team. The Mets
have shut down Tim Teeple for the year as a
cut on his fain was gonna mention that they've won
fourteen at a fifteen, I'm talking send Tebow gains for
the best Genus All Star Break. There you go. We'll
(53:06):
be back with more fency sports media that way,
