You're listening to the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. You worked
all week work work, work, work, work, work, work, work work.
You didn't have time to look at your fantasy lineups.
(00:44):
But don't be afraid. That's why we give you weekend
Fantasy Update. All right, welcome to the Matasy Sports Radio
(01:13):
Network Weekend a Fantasy update. Jugglena along with my buddy
George Kurtz saw a Sunday. How's it going, George, Good morning, Joseph.
Thought it's going well, you know, going as as well
as it can be for someone who's now sharing a
house with about ten women of from ages eight on up. Yeah,
(01:36):
you had a big good shindig at Kaza Kurtz at
Kingdom Kurts. So this picture of this huge slide, and
we talked about the your your huge backyard. You set
up the slide. What what you didn't set it up right?
You gotta deliver it and they set it up for you,
I hope. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they set it up. But
that doesn't take very long for first im men's as
this thing is, don't take very long to set up.
(01:56):
Good for them, right right? You just blow it up
and then they put takes. I'm sure, but everybody had
a great time. I'm forture they're still on it. They are.
She woke up earlier. There's uh, all the little ones
about four or five, and we're out on it right now.
It's like I could see them sliding down as I'm
doing the show here. Uh it's yeah, it was. It's
my daughter. It's my daughter's the ninth birthday. So happy
(02:17):
Pete Madison happy. But it was also also my oldest
niece's birthday, my youngest nephew's birthday. God a lot of
birthdays in August. And the funny thing is, uh, my
my other niece, my twenty year old niece. She she
comes over yesterday and about four thirty five oclock and
the afternoon she tells me, you know. Uh, I'm gonna
watch I'm gonna go upstairs take a nap. My good good.
(02:39):
That was just at four thirty five o'clock yesterday, it is,
that's how nine o'clock in the morning. That's she's still upstairs.
It's my daughter's bedroom sleeping. It's been sixteen hours. I mean,
my god, nicely the young able to sleep that much again. Yeah,
she must have had a fun Friday night, right, I
mean yesterday I had to pick up a daughter who
(03:01):
came back from Europe. She went with her friends, took
a cruise, visited Venice and Greece and Croatia. So we
picked her up and come home just like you said.
This was at seven o'clock basically good night. So she
had a great time. So hey, you know sleep is important, right, Yeah,
(03:23):
I literally I'm not complaining. I'm jealous. Yeah. Yeah, And
you tried the tried out this slide for yourself, of course, yeah.
I was on it about buchs It's it's fun. The
hardest thing about the slide for an adult is actually
just climbing up the stairs or whatever they you know,
the things they die that you have to climb up
because it's step it's easy for kids who were like
(03:44):
fifty pounds go flying up that thing. Adults it's a
little bit like more of a torture, you know, But
going down you feel it. Man, you get that pit
in your stomach going down. It's fun. And we do
so many things for our kids. I mean, I don't
know if I want. I was gonna say the craziest,
but it's not crazy. But a couple of years in
a row my wife had when my kids were young.
(04:05):
She was part of the UH the p t A
and they had like a spring fair or whatever, and
I got roped into being in the dunk tank two
years in a row. So you know, I remember the
first year they tried to fill up the dunk tank
using a garden hose and that wasn't working right. So
I'm like, oh, too bad. I really wanted to be
in the dunk day. And then somebody says, wait a minute,
(04:25):
you know, I know somebody that's UH in the fire department.
I'll call them. I see if they could, you know,
maybe open up the fire hydrant. And they did, and
I got stunned getting dunked into the So, you know,
thinking back now, uh, fun times, so you know, happy birthday,
to your door, to Madison, to your niece. I know
yours is coming up within the next week or so,
(04:46):
so happy you know, in case I forget, Happy birthday
to you days yeah, oh a few days, okay, good good, Um.
Hopefully maybe you keep the slide up and you could
have fun you and you wife gets slide on down
the slide on your birthday. I know that they're picking
you enough tomorrow. We only rented it for one day,
but we got got lucky. No one hadn't rented the
(05:08):
day before over day after, So yeah, I guess they're
not sending anybody on the weekend to come and get it,
so we have it until tomorrow. Alright, So today's show
will be mostly football, mostly fantasy football, will sprinkling some
baseball as well. Um, later on we'll take a look
(05:28):
at a DPS and possible situations that you're gonna face,
eighth rain, eighth round on. But let's just talk a
little bit, a little bit, uh some recent news. We
went over this yesterday with Mike, but I want to
get your take on it, your take on the Josh
Gordon news that came out where he is reinstated. So
(05:48):
let's talk to me, are you surprised about the reinstatement.
What do you think it does for his a DP?
What do you think it does for the Patriots in general?
And his fantasy impact this year? Interesting? You know, I
I am surprised that they let him back in so
quickly for guys who suspended numerous times and also you
get spend in December. December was his last lifetime suspension
(06:11):
and definite whatever they want to call it, and very
barely to miss any game these a little stringage. What
they've viewed missing the super Bowl is enough of a
punishment there. So weird, you know how they do that? Uh,
Some guys get a lot, some guys get a little.
I know it's all different circumstances going on here with
the different players, But yeah, I was surprised he got
back in. This almost seemsly once again a kindler kinder,
(06:31):
nice ler, nicer uh FL, especially when it comes to
offensive players who are stars, you know, guys who are
named players. And I think it's for me, it's uh,
I don't know what's gonna a conspiracy theorist here. It's
all about the NFL and the one hundred year they
want to celebrate they don't want to have any negative
things going on. You know, they'll still suspend players, you
(06:52):
know lineman who nobody, nobody has heard him, and stuff
like that, but you know, letting tire, you kill off
the hook now Josh Gordon and back so quickly. Strange
range how the NFL is working this year. Uh so,
I I was surroprised now as far as off of
the Patriots, because I think we all need to keep
our expectations in check. It's certainly a good thing for
New England, right gives them a weapon, a town field
weapon at that, so it's certainly good for them. But
(07:14):
fantasy wins. Am I gonna also and take him in
the third round? No, no, no, I don't think. I
don't know here's anything more than a Leewin White was
even two at this point. I mean, people are gonna
they're gonna grab him, They're gonna grab them dread because
they're gonna assume that he's gonna be Josh Gordon. He
was a few years ago at this point, a lot
of years ago. You know, I don't know if I
if I could ever see that again. Um, maybe maybe
(07:35):
he'll be that player. But I kind of had my
doubts at twenty years old, especially this year. Maybe it's
next year if you could stay Uh, once he can
stay clean and then it happens, and that's also a
big thing. Can he stay clean? And can you stay clean?
No one knows, you know, I don't. I doubt he knows.
So yeah, I'm I'm okay. We have take hi as
a wide receiver two probably around round six somewhere around there.
(07:57):
But people gonna jump up and take him around round
old doubt, yeah, because as of now I'm looking at
the NFFC website and the a DP has not adjusted. Uh,
he's still going, you know, according to them, sixteen seventeen round.
But you think that eventually it could go as low
as you think sixth round in a twelfth team league.
(08:20):
Not for me. I doubt I'll have the many leagues.
But he's a name guy, So you're talking in regular
home leagues. People are gonna see the name, they're gonna
grab and think he's gonna be the next big thing.
With Tom Brady, you know, they'll forget that he's barely played.
You know, he's gonna suspend it time. Brady's old of
that sort of thing. I mean those kind of these.
Brady might still go as a quarterback one too. Same thing.
People draft the name, not the production. So yeah, I
think it's certainly. Uh, the ADPs haven't caught up yet.
(08:43):
He just got reinstated a couple of days ago, so
you mad the way about two weeks really to see
how that pays up. But it is. I think it'll
go up, he said, a round fifteen, round sixteen. I
think it'll be half of that ten, Round six and
eight is where I M going. And most drafts probably
starting it's probably starting tonight, right, so uh, you know,
I have to say that I think that the Patriots
kind of saw this coming because you know, there we
(09:05):
heard reports that in the preseason, before even the the
preseason started, that he and and Brady were working out
together and and you know, Brady very picky about you know,
who who he likes and who he doesn't like to
throw the ball too. But it seems like they have
a pretty good connection. Well they better, right, they better,
because they like they're they're off set of weapons are
(09:27):
a little weak. I mean, I think it's a little
unfair to expect Harry to be great right off the bat,
and that kind of offense. Again that trust a Brady
to be that downfield threat and we don't have a
big here in PPRL. Still had to you know, truck
on the ball, he stays healthy. You know, James White
will be valuable too, but they need someone to put
the ball down the field and now they have it.
And what Josh Carr was great about Gordon is that
he'll force the safety to stay hi, get him out
(09:49):
of the box, losing them with defender there. So Josh
Gordon is certainly you can make an argent he's better
for the team than he has a fantasy and he'll
be making bigger uh I guess production for an and
winning as a whole able a fantasy. That being said,
he also wouldn't shock me if Gordon gets better as
the season goes along, they out of trouble, if he
can stay clean, I wouldn't shocking on ways the weeks
(10:12):
going he gets better and better and better. And this
has got to both in my opinion, help and hurt
and rookie wide receiver and kill Harry because it's probably
gonna take away from from his uh, his targets. But
at the same time, uh, you know, he could kind
of learn at the at the at the foot of
(10:33):
uh you know of a very talented uh wide receiver
uh in in Josh Gordon's So what do you how
do you think that this? Do you agree? Do you
think that this is all impact? You know, have like
a both a good and a bad aspect to Harry's season.
It probably means are you an optist or a pessimist?
(10:53):
I mean it really does if you're an optimist. Oh well,
you know, now he doesn't see the safety, doesn't see
the uh the number one cornerback teams won't game plan
for him. They not that they really would anyway, but
he won't have that kind of attention. And of course
the pessimist, Oh yeah, no, Edmond's gonna get a lot
of balls. James White's gonna get a lot of balls.
Josh Gordon's gonna get the deep shots. Now m doesn't
leave a lot left over for him, doesn't. Yeah, you
(11:14):
can get it that way as well. So uh yeah,
as much as I would. You know, when you're putting
Josh Gordon, you are lowering. How do you don't have
a choice? You have to lower him? You know? Once again,
now what is he uh? Uh? Probably at the very
best to flex plane. He maybe for me, he'd be somebody,
just a bench guy on my bench. What happens, right, Yeah,
I'm with you. Uh not just some of the news
(11:35):
here and there, Josh McCown you no, no, no fantasy
implications obviously the fact that he came out of retirement.
But backing up Carson Wentz, I think it's a good
move for the Eagles, part right, I mean, Josh McCown.
It has been serviceable as a quarterback, you know, a
real life quarterback. And let's face it, Carson Wentz hasn't
been the healthiest guy around for the past couple of years,
(11:57):
even in college. It's a thing I thought. I heard
about the sign and I'm like, oh, well, even they're
admitting it right that it Wentz had some injury problems here.
They lost their backups to some injuries as well. Uh,
suffer will be out. They really not sure how long
he'll be out for, maybe all of September. Uh. So
that sort of thing is they're smart, I mean a
smart move, McCown. Veteran quarterback. And then the system was
(12:18):
out there, you know, uh, doing NFL Live for ESPN.
Now you have to go play good move for him
as well. Yeah, I just always called I find it
kind of funny. I mean mccuntless said he was tired
because you want to spend more time with his family.
Well apparently that last a few months. He got taught.
Screw it all right, I gotta get that out of him. Man,
get me back in training. He can't make that money.
Where his wife told him, lest we don't need you
(12:38):
around here. Go out and make them go up to
make the millions, you know, keep us in uh whatever,
give us a lot of the light of luxury there,
that sort of thing. So I just find that funny.
But yeah, I think it's a good move for the Eagles. Yeah. Yeah,
I got to to to meet my family again and
seeing him in a while, and you know, I really
don't like him, so let me go back to work. Yeah,
(12:59):
it was. It was a funny. It was a funny thing.
It's a good from account. Uh. He looks like Neil Ice,
by the way, And I didn't realize that you've watched
you an NFL live he lives. It just reminds me
of Vanilla Ice, uh chisel, blonde hair and all that
look back in the nineties. To me, he always reminded
me of Ivan Drago from The Rockyes, you know I
(13:21):
say that, that's yeah funny. Last night, you know, I
was watching a little of the preseason football here and
there also flipping around, and I came on to a
Creed two. I don't know if you saw either of
the Creed movies. He's and the Creed two premises that uh,
you know Rocky is now. You know, for these two movies,
he's training Apollo Creed son and uh brings him to
(13:45):
to a championship, and all of a sudden, Ivan Drago
uh comes back into the picture, but he brings his
son and they challenge Apollo Creed for you know, for
the title. So and the usual things happened that you
would expect. So, but you know, I can't kind of
turn off except for Rocky five, Rocky movie. You know,
(14:09):
I saw Creed. I didn't see Creed too. I did
see Creedy one. I'll see Creed two eventually. I have
nothing against it, just haven't gotten around the saying it
just it just hit. It just hit cable. So cable,
what what's cable? You know what I mean? It hit
the movie channel. I forget which one. Baby, I'll see
what it comes on one of the services eventually. But
I'm in no rush. I'm the kind of guy. I
(14:31):
still gotta figure out what order to watch the Marvel
movies and so I can catch up on these things.
I think the only Marvel movie I've ever seen his
Iron Man. Well, I think that was the first one. Yeah,
and that was another thing, okay, yeah, yeah, and then uh,
I think on another cable channel they had Captain America
Winter Soldier, which a lot of people feel is, you know,
(14:51):
other than the Avenger movies, the best Marvel movies. So uh,
but you but you have a good start that Kurts
with the the Iron Man movie, and I I thanks,
I envy you. I'm not sure I envy you because
you haven't seen them yet. You have a lot of
entitating movies to watch. You're not the biggest fan, though,
so it will be a big thing for me. If
(15:12):
I was, I would have watched him by now what
night over me? It's bass in a while. By the way,
where's Mike Blue this morning? Wasn't he supposed to be here?
I guess he's in Texas. He's a he's a Dallas
looking for Zeke. He just he's back. He's back. Zeke
just blew Right just apparently returned from Cabo well after
(15:35):
he heard that that little clip. But if you saw
your owner, they're saying, uh, Zeke, who did you see
that little clip? We're gonna be talking a little bit
about the preseason action last night and and and you know,
pick out some key performance it was whatnot? But see
who we have powered down. We don't need to see
(15:56):
super Bowl kept us week one. I don't want to

(17:08):
Fantasy Update Joe Glina and George Kurtz and the Fantasy
Prince Shawn Angel hanging out with us produced in the
show bringing us back with a little Saint Elmo's Fire.
Never really saw never really Either I did or I didn't.
Never saw the movie. You see that movie bits and pieces,
(17:28):
But I was never a huge even though I like
all the I like most of the actors and actresses
and that flick. But that was like the right Yeah,
I mean Ireakast from the eighties. Yeah, but I've seen
it was Fire, Breakfast Club. What was the other one?
Pretty in Pink? I think with the three movies with
a lot of the same actors, and I wasn't big.
(17:49):
I like the song. I like the theme song from
Psychedelic Furs, Pretty in Pink back from the eighties. But ya,
you had the brat Pack with Amelio Estevez, Rob Low,
Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald. Well that kind of all those
all those those people. Hey, are you watching the the
(18:10):
reboot of Beverly Hills nine O two one? Oh? I
pictured it was a big Beverly Hills nine oh. I
don't know if anyone's ever insulted me more? Uh No,
I mean I back in the nineties, I did have
to watch the original because if you were dating anyone
of the nineties you had to watch Beverly Hills nine
nine two along with that, uh Mel Rose Melrose Place,
(18:34):
and what was the other one it was on after
Beverly Hills Up. I know there was another one, I
Can't Never, Can't Never something or other? Oh Party of five?
Right right, right, right right, Well, yeah, you had if
you were dating anybody of the night as, you had
to watch those because they made you watch man. They
weren't you know, no DVRs back then, so you were
watching That's a date night. Yeah, shoot me, uh that
sort of thing. Uh No, I am not watching the
(18:55):
remake of Beverly Hills nine. It's not a remake. It's
a reboot. Get it, get whatever the hell it is.
I don't care remake. And my daughter's watching Riverdale. She's
binging Riverdale, and I had to explain to her, uh,
you know Luke, that Luke Perry Perry he died in
real life. Yeah, she just brought up that's amazing, you know,
that's that's a show. I was I was gonna start
watching that and maybe I will eventually if I have time.
(19:17):
I don't know, but that's based on the Archie comics, right, yeah,
it is. That's that's that's what I was telling her.
I'm like, yeah, i'n't heard. I don't I don't want
to show, but I've heard of the characters. But jokehead
Luke Perry was it was the one club, was the
one character I liked on Beverly Hills. Mm hmm, yeah him, yeah,
mm hmm. You did you have the the longside burns
(19:41):
because they were they brought them back into fashion back
in Lady e d S early nineties when those shows
were popular. Now, at one point I did have a
longer hair it uh that I could put it up.
I never did, but I could put it into a
ponytail if I wanted to. But I got rid of
that when when when I started playing hockey heavy, I
got rid of that. Uh. I didn't want the mullet
(20:03):
going on there. For me, it was easier to get
that one on my head and pretty much shaved my head.
So I've had this looking as far as my hair
for I don't know, thirty years, right, And it looks
good on you. You're a handsome man. Yeah, and now
we're really getting into Bay territorious. My eyes gonna be jealous.
There you go, there you go. Uh. Pretty soon you're
(20:24):
gonna have a bunch of kids awake and gonna have
to feed them. So get ready. Are the little ones
are already awake? Man? The little ones worked out there
already eight during the break. I actually stole some of
that food. Isn't bacon on the table? Man? Doing that
three minutic bacon on? Someone's plating on. The little ones
are awake. My wife's out there with them. But the
older ones, my oldest daughter and her friend who slept over,
(20:44):
they're sleeping and my niece, I said, we're going on
hours seventeen now, still asleep. Just check on her. I did, Yeah, exactly. Yeah,
put a mirror to a nose. So all right, let's
take a look at some of what happened and yesterday's
preseason action. You know, not much credence you put it.
(21:05):
I mean we talked about this last week. You don't
really watch much preseason, right, I mean you watch it
in the background. I know that you have the NFL
network on seven in the man cave and whatnot, but
you know, how do you use it in terms of, uh,
for fantasy purposes, even if you want to talk, you know,
for betting purposes, because you're gonna be doing the weekend
wagers show. Uh, you know, and and in the next
(21:28):
few hours. So it talk to me a little bit.
How you handle, you know, a preseason, what you try
to get out of it? Alright, Uh, And I said,
I do watch preseason. I mean, I'm watching the coltson
Browns now it's on the NFL network. But I'll tell
I mean, last night, Cowboys, I'm a Cowboy fan. Cowboys
are playing the Rams in Hawaii. Uh. Now I'm not
here beforehand that you know, Doak wasn't gonna play. Zeke
(21:49):
obviously not gonna play. Cooper wasn't gonna play. No golf,
no girly. You know, most of the stars weren't playing
in this thing. You just lose itches real quick. You know,
the opening drive, all right, Dack's in the air. Then
after that it's like now with down to Mike White
and goople rush and no one cares. Sloppy football. Tons
of penalties, I mean literally, it's hard football to watch
because there's gonna be over twenty penalties in the game.
(22:10):
You know, the stupid pairs interference review, which is just
idiotic because no one knows what's clear and concise and
no one knows so uh as far even me being
a cowboy fan, I lose interest in it real quick.
All right. What I watch it for is pretty simple.
Players who are hurt well coming back from injury. I
want to see them. I want to see how they look.
I do make an effort, you know, I'll write down. Okay,
(22:31):
you know, someone starts playing at seven o'clock. If I
can't watch the game, I will find out when the replay.
Is one thing it's great about the NFL and that right,
Davy play every damn games over over, No, So you
can find a game and I want to see how
they look. Are they're coming out of their cuts, Are
they're running on full speed? How do they look? You're
the eye test that sort of thing. Uh. The other
thing is for positional battle, same thing. You know, how
guys look you it's important to oh, oh, this guy
(22:54):
lined up with the second team no first team reps.
That's important. Means he may be behind the other guy.
You know, that sort of thing. So he eight tipes
of stuff like that. But all in the preseason. I mean,
as a fantasy player for my draft that have already happened.
Please get up, just get up at their attackle you
know you got your players up. Dont want to see
a players get hurt. We've been pretty lucky so far, Joe.
I don't know too many injuries in these games where
(23:15):
it's affecting fantasy. You know, years parts Judy Nelson got hurt,
Benjamin got hurt, the one years had other injuries where
guys are gone. Uh you know before you even uh
had chanced to see them playing real action games here
right at the draft, the boom gone for the year.
Nothing worse than that. You know, I have a draft
on my home league draft of Thursday. So last see
I want to hear is the player right draft at
seven pm got hurt at nine pm. You know that
(23:38):
just drive me insane. You know, there's nothing worse than
I that'll bring you down real quick. Yeah. So yeah,
since you mentioned, you know the Cowboys game they played
out in uh Hawaii Rams. I think most of the
team didn't even travel to Hawaii. So but the Cowboys
beat the Rams fourteen to ten. Uh. Prescott actually did
play five five sixty four yards. Uh, gallop one catch,
(24:02):
but a really nice one for thirty one yards. Uh.
Tony Pollard five carries forty two yards. That's an eight
point four average, also a touchdown. Uh. I can't say
I watched this game, but I watched the highlights. Probably
looked pretty good. Obviously, obviously when you see in the highlights,
you've seen the best plays that he made. But uh,
what do you think about Pollard? And Uh, you know,
(24:24):
when we last spoke last week, I believe you were
kind of convinced that you thought that Zeke was gonna
be there for Week one? Do you still feel confident
in that? Yeah, I'd surprised. I mean, listen, the ultimate
test of confidence will come during my draft. I have
two home league draft this a week, and I'm not
(24:44):
afraid to admit those of the leagues I care about
the most now. In UM, in my league, I uh
I dreft the eleventh in the first round, and in
the other league I draft first. I was I'll definitely
have a chance to get Zeke in the other league,
especially since uh, Christian McCaffrey and Sequon Barkley are both
keepers in that league. Both the other teams decided to
give their first round pick to keep them, so you know,
(25:06):
the first overall pick. It's a it's a super flex league.
Two quarterbacks and Bunchet quarterbacks that kept as well. But
I can't get bat my homes. So that league comes
down to me at number one. Do you think the
Shawn Watson, Alvin Kamara or Zeke? Now, simple math tells
me because I'm gonna I'm gonna take Shawn Watson number
one in that league. Because I go I have my
(25:27):
I go first. I also go third draft pick trades
from last season, so I can. I'll get you the
Kamara Zeke at three. You know, if I want to
let's say, if Kamarai goes to then I'll have to
make that decision. Do I want to take Zeke or
do I want want to take David Johnson he's available. Yeah,
that would read well everywhere. It would come down to
Zeke or David Johnson. I did go Zeke in the
the the Fantasy Frenzy, the Pit League that we did
(25:48):
with the the friends you know, best friends forever. So
I did go Zeke a number five there that could
shine me away. Job could maybe I want to diversify.
I don't have any shares with David Johnson yet and
we'll see it. What Thursday league goes that league, I
pick eleven and you and he's not gonna fall to
what lever it. But once again, it's a super flex league.
Quarterbacks are gonna go early. They always do in this leagues.
(26:10):
He could fool there. The only thing is in that league.
In both these leagues a lot of cowboy fans, I
mean a third of these other league's cowboy fans. They
might take Zeek before I can get to him, but
that'll be the ultimate decision. We can say, oh we
want now. They're both heavy money leagues. They both got
two to play, so that would be the old with decision.
When my turn comes, Am I gonna pull it on Zeke?
I'll tell you this. If I do get Zeke on Thursday,
(26:32):
there's no chance I'll take him on Saturday. None less
things change as far as contract status. I do think
he comes back. He has come back from Cobbo. He
came back, his entire training stad, everybody came back. Uh.
This could be because Dallas is done with ox Nard.
You know they're done with training camp now. Now I'll
be back in Dallas. Maybe that's the reason why, or
it could be a sign that thinks are heating up
as far as contract negotiations and they expect to get
(26:52):
it done. The thing is, like you listen to any
of these and anybody who's reviewing anything. No one expects
this to go into the regular season. No, but everyone
expects it to get done, which generally means you'll hold
out for the year. But if you go, if you
go by all that, I do think it gets done.
I don't think Jerry Jones was gonna want to screw
up this year. You know, he knows you just you know,
(27:12):
as far as the window for this team, it's open now,
better take advantage of it. And if you want to
find out about Garrett and Mamber, Garrett is no contract
for next year. Yeah, is it really fair to him
you don't sign his best players? You know. So we'll
see what happens there. But I think it gets done.
Unless Zeke is completely unreasonable. I think it gets done. Right. So,
you know, I've been like you, I've been involved in
(27:33):
in some drafts already. When you look at the Raz
Bowl put out by the good people at raz Ball, uh,
and that was a slow draft that started a couple
of weeks ago. Uh, Elliott was the number one overall pick.
So then this past Thursday, I think it was Thursday, uh,
and the Singleton put together this drafting with Giants and
(27:54):
it's in its league and it's in its fifth year
and happy to I'm happy to be a part of it.
And I had the fourth overall pick, and uh, it
went Camaro number one overall, followed by Barkley, then Christian McCaffrey,
and then it was up to me, and I thought
about Elliott. I thought about it, and then I was
(28:15):
considering taking him that I considered taking DeAndre Hopkins. Uh.
You know, you get some extra bonuses for targets, but
you know, I went and I got my first share
of the fantasy football season of Davive Johnson. Uh. And
then Davante Adams went after that, and then with the
sixth pick, Ezekiel Elliott went, what do you think about
(28:37):
taking David Johnson at number four? There? Um, I think
right now I would. I might do the same if
I had any of the shares of Zeke Elliott. Once again,
we're assuming that Barkley, Kamara, McCaffrey go and somewhat to
one two three. Al right, so assuming that happens, uh,
I said if I had, if I ended up with
Zeke on Thursday, I wouldn't then take him again on Saturday.
(28:59):
Not not as an does have right now from what
we know, I wouldn't take the chance. So my only
problem with Johnson, and Johnson would be next in line,
by the way, he's the guy that would take as well.
But my only problem is this that offensive line. I mean,
for lack of a better term, it sucks. It's bad.
It's bad. I mean it was bad last year too.
I know people are gonna point that out, but it's bad.
I mean, there's not gonna be a whole lot of
(29:20):
running room there. But that's what Murray has to run too.
They could say they want to be a stay in
the pocket. He's gonna have to run, all right. He's
gonna be able to make any big a big place
if he doesn't run there. The offensive line is putrid.
It's it hasn't work to be done. He it's my
only worry there, Joe, it's my only woman there. So
I had David Johnson to five as well, So I
have no issue with you, And I said I would
do the same exact thing. I would still, like I said,
(29:42):
two drafts, I would probably I would all all that
they still take Zeke in the first draft. It's the
second draft they may not take because I don't know
if I want him twice. I believe in diversification when
it's close, you know, when it went's closed, not just
for the sake of out diversifying, but when it's close,
and if old things being even, I let to have
Zeke in every league, but I don't. I can't be
sure he's gonna show up. You also, let's say this
(30:04):
gets done, but it gets done September two, right before
game one, you know, okay, well how much you're playing
game week one? The Cowboys may look at it. You
know what, we don't need him to play a full
load to beat the Giants. Then we sunk till we
get the Redskins. You can make the same argument there
and were three. You play with Dolphins. You don't need
him all to be with Dolphins, all right, So they
can make that argue you're really getting him geared up
for a Week four that sort of thing. So that
(30:25):
might concern me as well. Plusses the old you know,
soft tissue injury getting a hamstring, growing a calf, that
that gets hurt because it has been a training camp. Well, um,
well you know August, so that would bother me as well.
So I can see the verse of frying, and I
don't have another problem with it. Yeah. Uh, And you know,
in my opinion, you know, I'm not as confident as
(30:49):
it was a week or two ago that it's gonna
get done by the start of the season. It probably will,
but it wouldn't shock me if you know, he misses
week one or two, if if it gets done there.
So let's say it is September two, the first game
of the season. I think it is September eight or so, right,
if I'm not mistaken. Well, let's say it's certainly a Thursday,
(31:10):
the fifth, but for Sunday is the eighth. So let's
say it's let's say it's the fourth and he's not signed.
And you know that a lot of people like myself
like to wait as as late as possible to have
my draft. What do you think his ADP goes there?
I mean, do you think it's it's like lower first round.
Do you think that maybe you could get him like
at number eleven overall? Like you know or what do
(31:32):
think happens is there? Well, if he's not signed and
it's no news that he's going to sign by the fourth,
I mean he's been missing week one even he signs
that he's gonna miss week one, right that that was.
Isn't just sign him on that Wednesday at Thursday and
play him that Sunday? That would seem highly unlikely. Uh,
doesn't get you enough time a week two and now
Eve missing him two weeks of the season. Hm. Uh.
(31:55):
I think he absolutely falls out of the first half
of the first round at that point. I said, if
they he's willing to miss a game, I get real worried.
Once were sort of missing games, I get real worried
they were. They were calling each other's bluffs, that sort
of thing. Who blinks first? You know he he's already
missing game checks. Yeah, you don't want this to go
to week ten. No, No, But if were gone ten Dallas,
(32:16):
the season is over and Jerry Jones is really screwed up,
so it would be Uh, I would probably dropped out
of the first round at that point. I don't think
I can take him. Uh. It's like Melvin gordon Um
and Melvin Gord was a little different because I've always
believed he's holding out. You know he's not. They sort
of insulted him with the over the Cowboys having insulted Zeke.
They've a number two running back money, so they have
(32:37):
insulted him. But you know, the charges insulted Gordon. So
he's go. I think he's gonna make a statement here
where Zeke. You know, I think he I think he
will be back, and I think he wants to miss
the games. I just don't think he does. So I
think he signs here. But under your scenario, if you
know that after Labor Day he's not signed and you're drafting,
not a first round pick for me, and I probably
can't take him in the top half of the second
(32:58):
round either. M Yeah. I was talking to Blueys. I
mentioned about the Giants. Shawn O'Hara, you know, former center
for the Giants. He it was on the NFL network.
He's an analyst there. He had the Giants going ten
and six. He hasn't losing to Dallas week one. But
(33:18):
as a Giants fan, damn, I hope he doesn't sign
for a Week one. I don't want to play the
Cowboys with Zeke. You know, I think ten and six
it's too ambitious. I think maybe, uh showan Ohara should
be checked, maybe for concussion symptoms or whatnot. But uh
that that's a shame that whenever I hear a former
(33:38):
teammate who's now an analyst one of these shows, whether
it be the INFL network or ESPN, and they say
something like that, I now lose all respect for you
and nothing you say, I will listen to and no,
I won't watch you. I don't say that as a joke,
I said, I mean, listen. We we want these shows
for information. If you can't separate yourself, I'm a cowboy, Fani,
I can't separate from the cowboys. I'm no good to anybody.
(33:59):
If I'm gonna say that, Uh you know, Joe. If
I'm a Giant fan, Giants go ten and six, I mean,
I'm an embarrassment you're about I mean, no one thanks
Giants on. This guy's gonna go five hundred. And this
is the most importantly for the Giant season is not
really to win. It's a developed Daniel Jones for the future.
That's most the Giant season. Alright. So, but I said,
and he's that by by sharanho Hai is not the
(34:19):
only one. We've heard of some plenty of analysts who
do this, And once again, I just lose respect for
you because you obviously you can't be objective, can't be
objective trying to make a name for themselves to stand
out out of the crowd. But right, I mean kind
of see where you're coming from. I'm with you, all right,

(36:35):
talked about Sean o'harry predicting the Giants would be ten
at six. I'm just gonna go over real quick with you.
I don't want to bore people with this, but uh,
Georgie has he has the Giants losing Week one to Dallas,
and then he has him uh three straight wins against
the Bills, UH at the Bucks and against the Redskins.
(36:56):
I don't think the Redskins is gonna be a very
good team. Uh. Then he has them losing two straight
to the Vikings and the Patriots. He has them winning
three against the Cardinals, Lions, Cowboys, Jets. Uh, then they
(37:17):
played there by he has them losing three straight to
the Bears, Packers, and the Eagles. And then he has
them winning three straight to finish off the season against
the Dolphins, the Redskins, and the Eagles. So and just
I mean, real quick, any of those games like, uh,
stand out here, like you know, what the heck is
(37:37):
he talking about? Well, he's giving them every fifty fifty
game goes with the Giants, you know, and that's amazing
for a team that's not very good. You know, they're
not gonna win every darn you're gonna win half of them.
And he's had everyone going to the Giants. He's got
him beaten. He's got going four into in the division.
You know, with Dows in Philadelphia, they're gonna beat the
Redskins twice. Coome luck with that, odds are gonna be
(37:58):
the other way around. They'll go two and four. So listen,
it's a Homer pick. It's what it is. And I said,
it's it's these guys have when I can't I can't
listen to you, I can't watch you. If you can't
separate what what team you played for, then you and
I don't know why he's never even hire him, because
you're no good to anybody if you can't separate it.
You know, if you can't be honest with yourself and separate,
you're you're no good there. Uh, it's a lot of
(38:20):
games at fifty you know, when you when you and
I did the schedules we've been I told you the
ones you're going on, really educated guesses how it goes
in the probably to put on injuries, who's healthy, who's
not at that time. And that's why all these prognatic
agents are really useless anyway, because there was so many
injuries that will change things up that uh, you know
what we thought, and you know August won't be the
same as in October or November. But like I said,
(38:42):
it's it's it's not to tell Harry, I. You see
this over and over again with all these ex players
they hire that one either can't speak the language or
two is they make, you know, predictions like this where
they're still trying to, uh, you know, please the home team.
You know, John Gruden, I never like John Gruden doesn't
announce it because everybody was great to me. He always playing,
he was always announcing for his next job. And he
(39:02):
didn't want to offend anybody, so everybody was great. He
didn't criticize anybody. There's the greatest person ever, greatest players, lineback,
I've ever seen that certa things like, oh my god,
I kill listen to you. Yeah, you're useless to me.
If everybody's great, there's no there's no analysis, there's no
there's not enough for me. So uh it just bothers me.
I'm with you, I'm with you on this. Uh So, uh,
(39:25):
we'll get off the Cowboys talk for now. But Pollard,
if he has to fill in for a couple of games, uh,
I mean, what kind of fetes the value does he give?
What kind of production you think that that he gives you?
I mean still running behind a pretty good offensive line
and in a pretty good system. No, yeah, I mean
(39:46):
he is, but he won't get the respect that's he
got either. Uh. He'll still do some damage and once
get you are playing the Dallas first three games, Giants,
Redskins uh and Dolphins. Redskins actually have a pretty dull
good defense. Giants so so doll non existent, So he
would still gonna a decent run. And once this is
part of the leverage that Jerry Jones will use. Hey,
(40:06):
you know, we can go two and one without you
in the first three, you know that that sort of thing,
and maybe three and although I imagine it'll be two
and one. Uh So Jerry Jones will used that pology.
Okay back and he's but he's definitely the kind of
guy you don't mind giving Zeke a blow you know,
series here, a series there, give us some time. We'll
off the rest of him blowouts he comes in that
sort of thing. You don't want him starting gaming and
(40:27):
game out. You just don't. The worry with Zeke is
not so much pot Pollard. You know, it's that if
Zeke holds out that long with politics starting, how long
will it take Zeke to getting uh you know, getting
games ship where you're getting Zeek? Is it a proof
now before you really getting Zeke? What about the injuries?
That sort of thing that's the worry. Well, if you
hear the reports, he's a lean, mean fighting machine, right, does.
(40:48):
He's slim, he's trimmed down, hanging out in Mexico. I
guess he's, you know, loving the life down there, you know,
like you said, he right, everyone looks great at this
point in time. Everyone's fantastic. Yeah, alright, So let's move
over to the Steelers Chiefs game. Steelers beat the Chiefs
(41:11):
seventeen seven. I was a little surprised to see my
homes out there for two series, uh last night. Um,
you know, he played one series in the first game,
and the guy can't help himself. He's such a competitor that,
uh you know, especially week one, there was that play
where he's running with the ball and then eventually he
ended up taking the slide. But you know, anytime that
(41:31):
this guy gets on the field, you're you're a little
afraid as a fantasy owner and whatnot. No, well, actually
always said that, uhmes, we're gonna play a half and
them being just two series rather than a half, So
this was I wouldn't say this was quite the surprise.
Uh So, I don't think it's like any big thing there,
but he was supposed to play, so I don't think
(41:52):
it could be Court of Guard. Why Indie Reid wanted
to play so much. And that's anyone's guess because I
agree with you. I'm not. I said, if if IM was,
you know, coach preseason, I think every every series they're
in there, you're you're you're rolling with ice. Yeah, he's
gonna make it, he's gonna get back up. I don't
see any reason to play these guys all that much.
So I wouldn't. I wouldn't have him been all that
(42:12):
much in there either. Yeah. Uh no, Damian Williams no
carries for him. But uh, Darwin Thompson, we spoke about
him last week. Four for thirty. That's a seven and
a half when average Daryl Williams six carries twenty five yards.
Carlos Hyde had a fumble. Uh five carries twenty three yards.
(42:32):
So Darwin Thompson a guy, you know, I mean, this
is gonna be a bit. I just I just have
a feeling that this is gonna be a little bit
of a busier backfield than we might have expected coming
into the start of the preseason. Uh. You know, I
mentioned that last week with Damian Williams, for his career
has a total of a hundred eighty three carries. I'm
(42:53):
concerned about him being able to, you know, be effective
and productive for the entire season and carry the ball
two hundred to two hundred fifty times after you know,
just carrying the ball a hundred eighty three times for
his career. I don't know if I'm worried about Williams
all that much, you know, I know I said earlier
(43:15):
on when people are panicking, I thought what they were
saying Andy Reid, the offensive coordinator, about his role, I
thought that was just trying to wake him up, you
know the fact that uh he wasn't you know, he's
missing out skipping a lot of practice with an injury.
And I did think Andy read was getting piste off,
you know, you want to send the mess. And I
think that's all that was, you know, And now went
(43:36):
back to sort of normal here. So I'm not I'm
not panicking all that much about Williams. I still it
was a high end running back to uh and that's
where I would take him if you're rescid me right now,
where I think Williams or Ezekial Elliott would still take Zeke.
You know, I think would probably have to miss a
week or two before I put Williams ahead of him.
But that's where I'm at right now. Biomlines. I'm not
worried about Williams. You know, I think he's gonna get
the main load there. I don't think gonna go away
(43:58):
from him. Finally worried about what is more. I know
who he is. You know, I see that guy we
saw in Miami forever. You know, there was a blah
always he the guy that we saw last year with
Kansas City is it's just a real offense is showing
what he can do. I'm not so sure that he
is a star. Mm hmmm um for the Steelers side.
(44:19):
Um again, no, no Bell the mobile Brown. But James Washington. Uh,
the past couple of weeks is pretty good. Four catches
for seven y eight yards. Uh. What give me your
thoughts on James Washington after either watching games or highlights
of him in this in the first couple of preseason games?
(44:42):
And do you think that maybe he outproduces Donte moncrieff
Uh in the regular season. That that's a fair question,
so that everybody wants to know, because I'm gonna be
I'm gonna believe that someone's gotta step up in that
passing game for Pittsburgh outside of Juju and outside Connor McDonald.
I like as a tight end, but he's not. He's
not a zach Ertz or a Kelsey, you know, a
(45:03):
kid or a guy who can really uh run a
passing game all by himself. He needs He's not that
kind of tight end, you know. So they need someone
to step up. And you were expected to be Washington
or mont Creef. And I don't know. I mean, I've
had issues with mon Creef in the past, you know
where he's let me down. So I don't know if
I'm gonna be heavy on him and drafts I do.
(45:23):
We know he has talent, can he can he show
it up on a consistent basis? That's always been his issue.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no, you don't know what you're gonna get.
Game in a game out Washington seems to be the better.
You know, they want to give a chance, you know,
draft pick there. And yeah, he had to shown anything,
(45:43):
you know, I said he did have a good day. Uh,
yesterday gets the Chiefs and Chiefs defense say what you want. Uh,
we had to deal for for Cates seventy. It's nice, nice,
solid game. There is that a sign of things to come.
You know, next week is for a week three generally
the dress rehearsals. Just like to say, for the regular season,
I'll be attested to watch him again. I did take
James Washington the UM the Yeah, Scottish Bowl, but I
(46:07):
took him late double digit rounds. I don't remember where. Uh.
So he's not someone I'm relying on. He's a bench
player for me, and I think that's where where he
belongs and fantasy leagues bench player with upside. You're not
a guy that I'm probably gonna you know, like I say, uh,
Joe that I you know, round fourteen, fifteen, your draft guys,
you know, and the hockey the way while you move
on watching, I'll be more patient with because I think
(46:28):
you might need a couple of weeks to see if
really much chores in this offense, or at least to
figure out which one of Washington and to a mon
Crief or Johnson for that matter, ends up becoming Ben's
second favorite target. Right. Uh Well, according to an f
f C A d d uh, James Washington in a
typical twelve team league, uh goes somewhere around the tenth round,
(46:50):
and you could wait a couple more rounds later to
get monk Reef. And again it's just an average, that's
an average of of of draft positions. So it moves.
But I think for me personally, I think i'd I'd
feel more comfortable taking the chance on Washington's upside. Uh.
I like him in uh, you know, in his second year.
So but you know, like you said, we'll see what
(47:13):
happens next week. Next week is very important, you're right. Uh,
the dress rehearsal where typically the starters will play a
full half, right, that's what usually happens week three in preseason. Now,
that's that's what we like to think happens. Whether it
will or not, who knows, but yeah, generally starters do
play around a half. Yeah. I think we've seen over
the year now a lot of these codes get they
(47:33):
just get more and more cautious. What we made it
through a corner? Good enough, let's move on, right, And
to me, the rams are the most cautious. No, I mean,
like I said, I think a twenty of twenty players
didn't even travel to Hawaii, uh last night. But uh, hey,
you know, in a way, I don't blame him. So
if you're a James Conner owner. And if you're the
(47:55):
kind of guy of gal that likes to handcuff your
running backs, who are you uh more apt to try
to get on your on your fantasy team this year?
If you're a Connor owners at the Jaylen Samuel's or
Benny Snell. I'm not a big handcuff guy as far
as drafting a handcuff. And I've said this before. The
reason why is it's pretty simple for me. Most teams
(48:17):
have some kind of two running back system. And there's
a reason why we draft Zeke Barkley, Kamar McFadden, you
know David Johnson so early is because they are one backs.
Most teams have two back systems, which means those backs
are valuable a second back. They're more much more valuable
than just as a handcuff. You know, those guys I'm
gonna want to start in my bye weeks the cover
(48:37):
of my guys, that sort of thing. So I don't
I don't draft too many pure backups here. So to
answer your question that if I had to draft one
of the other, I'd probably go Sauels. You know, I
won't be dragging if I'm if I had almost love
you on Bell, but if I had Conda, I wouldn't,
like I said, I would be drafting purely as the handcuff.
But I want some value out of somebody I can
use during my bye week fillers, uh that sort of
thing there. But it would be Jaylen Samuels. He'd be
(48:59):
the next act. I would take a line. Got you? Okay?
So what are your overall thoughts? Uh? On Big Ben?
This year? Last year five thousand, one hundred twenty nine
passing yards for Big Ben. That's the most in his career.
Did it at an age thirty six? I don't think
he hits that mark. But you know, with you know,
(49:19):
kind of a basically a little bit of a transition.
You know, I mentioned obviously and everyone knows no no Brown,
no Bell. But we got Juju, and you know, we
gotta see how Washington and and and Monk, like we
just spoke about and Vance McDonald. What are we thinking
in terms of Ben Roethlisberger. He's still a top twelve
(49:42):
quarterback now, yeah, he's close. Yeah. I I haven't taught
to hive. I think I'm top ten, you know. So
I like Ben. I think that he will throw the ball.
I mean, I mean, I like Ben as a fantasy player.
I hate him as a person. He's a complete ask. Yeah,
and I've worked with THEOG enough to know that, Yeah,
I don't. I don't hide those feelings about Ben. Uh. Uh.
(50:05):
You know, I think when it comes to Ben, I mean,
because what what do you want? We want? Ben? What
do you want? You know? Some people to Dak Prescott
ahead of him. Do you think Dak President is gonna
make the big leap? I don't you know, band or Breeze.
Breeze sort of died at the end of last year.
I think it saying simple this year, plus, he just
doesn't have any weapons. I mean, he has great weapons,
the ones he has Thomas and Kamara, but after that,
I mean it's not I'm not a lot there and
(50:27):
some teams can take away those make it tough. Luck
is in this conversation now because it was this is
the cat injury from hell. When is he coming back?
Anyone think anyone's knows what he's coming back? Uh? You know,
Ben Russell Wilson. We never sehawks want to run the ball.
They want to run the ball left, run the ball right,
run the ball up the middle. For some reason, they
want to take the boat out of Russell Wilson's hands,
which makes no sense to me. And you know they
(50:49):
don't have any weapons around him. So that con said
Rob about Uster Wilson, you want to go well with
Kyla Murray or mar Jaz because they're gonna run the ball. Okay,
I can see that, but this danger there. I've read
that Ben over golf imagined. Brady does move up now
that he got Gordon, but not anothering wrong. I take
him above Band. I think it's still more with a
throwing team with Ben and Pits right there really played
through him, and then it's a Rivers, Cousins, Winston. All
(51:12):
these guys have some kind of value. I get it,
but I would still have Ben. I had it barely.
I'm not saying it's big, but it's barely ahead of them.
Ben I have been, uh literally number nine in my rankings. Right.
So Camp Stewart, I had the pleasure of working with
him yesterday, gave me this player prop. I'm big Ben,
and I'll give it to you for fifty nine and
a half passing yards over or under for Big Bend
(51:35):
this season five thousand. Last season it was four thousand,
four fifty nine and a half. Over. I don't think.
I don't think it's the five thousand again, So I
umt ndred. I'm gonna go. You know, he had Juju
and brown last year. I'm going under m hm under
(51:57):
very possible. I mean you know, I think he goes
over four thousand. Yeah, it'll be and I think I think, yeah, yeah,
like you said, it's a good number. It is a
good number. So hey, it was mcd's birthday this week.
Did you wish her a happy birthday? Give her a
right on the side. Yeah, I'm sure she'll be uh
so upset that I didn't give her birthday wishes. All right,
(52:20):
we'll be back, she really is. I think she has
everything she needs she used to day day Rod. I
think we'll be back with more could have her for
getting out of that
