But don't be afraid. That's why we give you weekend
Fantasy Update. All right, welcome back our number three Weekend
(01:08):
Fantasy Up Day. Yo, Glen and George. Kurt's taking you
through the final hours. We head on to a weekend wagers.
What George gets to hang out with the camp Stewart
help you make some money. I'm sure I'll be hitting
hard on the MLB DFS slate and I probably preview
(01:31):
some of the games that are gonna be NFL games
taking place tonight. Georgia, have you gotten ahold of that
that that new Popeye's chicken sandwich in the news a lot.
There's no real Popeye' anyway, all that close to me,
so I don't I couldn't even tell you what one
is around me, so no, I don't evenly eat. I
(01:52):
think there's one here on Staten Island. Yeah, but supposedly
that everyone's going nuts over this chicken sandwich where they're
selling out, So I don't know. I may have to
try to find one. I don't know. Supposedly it's the
Obviously you don't eat Popeyes because there's none near you, right,
But I'll give it a shot, I said. I mean
(02:15):
I like Popeyes. I've had it in the past. Oh yeah, yeah,
I don't know. I just don't. I just don't know
where there there is one. We're all gonna make a
trip and unlet's it, Like I said, let's just close
out first. Pretty much? Was it a glorified fast flut
food place? I don't think I'd go out of my
way to go to it anyway. If I want chicken Eye,
this a million places you can go with chicken, sure,
absolutely so. Uh yeah, we've been talking lots of football,
(02:38):
will continue that now. We spoke about Zeke in the
last segment. You can't do a fantasy football show without
mentioning at Tonio Brown. H what was it Thursday? There
was a Thursday night right? Whether Raiders uh played the
Packers on this uh beat up field and Winnipeg Raiders
beat the Packers one. I think they were able to
(03:01):
only play on eighty yards of the field George, Yeah,
Canadian football where they have the goal post. Uh, you
know they have those holes in the ground. I guess
they weren't filled in properly. I mean really, really, how
do you not check out? So? Yes, did you know
that this game was gonna take place? Right? Come on?
So they had to play on a shortened field and
(03:22):
the Packers pulled all their players, you know, and Rodgers
was supposed to play in the game. He didn't. I
mean silly. I just what was the NFL learned? Stop
going to other place to play? You know, he's gonna
have these problems every now and then you're gonna have
a field that's it's disaster and it gets screwed, and they, oh, yeah,
we believe in players safety. But they played the game anyway?
Why because they didn't. They lose a lot of money
having to refund everything. So it's all a joke. Yes,
(03:47):
it seems like it is. Uh So the Antonio Brown,
uh this whole helmet gate the scenario. Uh So, now
we're not gonna find out how the NFL will rule
because he challenged the initial rule that said he couldn't
wear his helmet. I think we decision is gonna be
made in a week. And George, what do you what's
(04:09):
gonna happen if they rule against him? I mean, this
guy's not gonna sit out over silly uh helmet thing.
I mean, but but how much is he Do you
think that he could psych himself out to the point
where it actually affects his on field performance? I mean,
the whole argument, from what I understand, is that if
using this new helmet that the NFL wants him to
(04:30):
use is affecting his field of vision, so is he
psyching himself out? And how do you think if the
NFL rules against him, it's gonna affect his on field play? Well,
that's not the argument. The argument is that how many
wants to use was it specifically said that they couldn't
use it until afterwards? The field of vision thing is
not he can't argue that. Uh, I see that. Uh,
(04:52):
because everybody got everybody that the original thing that he said,
he said, Look, I can't say as well and over
he's unlikely to win because then plenty plenty of other
players would do the same argument. So he's unlikely to
win this. Uh, he'll this isn't expected to be Monday,
not in a week. They just heard yesterday. They expect
the decision to be on Monday. Is that the NFL
making this decision. It's an arbitrator, all right, so lost.
(05:17):
So when it comes to Brown, if you believe his agent,
Drew Rosenhouse, Rosenhouse to stated that win or lose, Brown
will be there, all right. Then he's uh, which when
it's this, this is the stupidest thing going by the way.
You've had a year, you know, to get a new helmet,
and you've just took forever. You know, it's silly, stupid
to me that this is becoming a big thing. It's
(05:38):
Antonio Brown. I mean, the little of God grow up.
They just grow up. I mean the Pastwick Steels had
to be like yep, yep, this is why we didn't
want him Buffalo Bills, but baby like, oh I guess
we won that trade after all, by not the fact
that he turned them down. Because while you want to
deal with this man, I understand he's a great player
on the field, but off the field, he's nuts. He really,
he's just nuts. He doesn't care about anything but himself. Uh.
(06:00):
I mean what he did with Pittsburgh last year. I
mean I think about a couple of years back when
he's filming the locker room speech by Mike Toma, put
it on Facebook, What the hell you don't do that,
you know? And then last year walking out on your
team and not showing up but what was essentially a
playoff game in week seventeen, I mean, I don't. I mean,
if I wanted to teammates Joe, I'd have a hard
time accepting him. I need a hard time this year.
You're not jumped the practice because of the helmet what
(06:22):
you had plenty of notice to find a new one,
you know. And this is why the NFL, you know,
they ever gets badge it over and over again. I mean,
I just badge it him right about the player safety
for the field. But then when they do something and
this whole hell with thing is all about players safety.
They don't want players wearing helme was. They're twelve years old.
Those helmets take a beating, and they they're not as
protectives as they used to be. They're not. Anybody will
(06:43):
tell you that, but Brown. But Brown goes and files
a lawsuit because the NFL is trying to make it safer.
I mean, I don't know what the animals it's expected
to do here when we when they're trying to do something,
everybody complains. When they do nothing, everybody complains. They just
can't win. But the truth is this, if I the NFL,
I would have Brown to sign a waiver, you know
(07:03):
that at least from any reliability to stuffer another concussion
either than this. Old players mind you, Yeah, we want
you to wear a new helmet. If you don't, here's
a waiver. You can't go in with any kind of lawsuit,
you know, no kind of concussion lawsuit down the line,
anything like that. If you want to sign this, fine,
where you want to go wear a leather helmet, You
wanna wear a batting helmet, go ahead. You want to
wear a baseball cap, go ahead when you play. I
don't care. That's a fair point, George, But I guess
(07:27):
the whole uh NFL with the brain injuries and concussions
has been such a hot topic that I guess they
don't even want to take a chance in doing that.
But hey, I'm with you. You know, let the player,
you know, sign a waiver or whatnot. And it's so
crucial that he's missed so much time from training camp
because yeah, he's got to develop some kind of relationship
(07:49):
with Derek Carr and this is just it isn't happening right. No,
he's he's barely practiced, right, He's there now. Plus he
has defeat the problem with from a list of him running, well,
the foot doesn't look they don't look to be a
problem anymore. Looks he looks fine to maybe. I mean, listen,
we're just seen some film him running, but not that
he's running with the limpold though he looks like it hurts,
so maybe he's over the frost bite. Uh, they which
(08:11):
is a stupid thing. How do you not wear whatever?
You know, you might go to France and you're wearing
you're not wearing socks or whatever. What don't you freeze
your feet off? That's great, that's just great. I mean,
how can you do that? Not that I've ever gone
to cryotherapy. But for the love of God, how can
you not go with you the correct clothing whatever what's
gonna it's not surprobably that they don't even brown that
(08:33):
surproscly at all that this is what happened to him.
But you're absolutely right, I mean chemistry. Does he know
the playbook? I mean, John Gruden good luck. I think
some people calling him out, Oh well, actually, I wish
you would have gone further, share something that five day letter.
You don't you don't go out report we'll start and
(08:53):
take away money. You know, I did like him clothing
him out, but I would I I think if I
was a g M hey, I would have never traded
for him. I wouldn't want somebody like him, but I
would have what I just I just traded a few
of giving you all was guaranteed money, signed to do
contract and you're still not here. I'd have been, I
mean i'd have been, I'd been blown up, I'd have
been pissed, and I would have set that letter right away.
You know, get your ass in camp. I don't want
(09:14):
to hear anything, but it's superd help I think John,
and there's John Gruden is saying what he has to say,
because it's his player. But Gruon's gonna be like, are
you kidding me? This is over a helmet and you're not.
I mean, Gruen's gonna be like, and I have to
now go defend this in public. Oh yeah, we would sport,
I'll playing. He was like, yeah, yeah, you just wort
are playing kneeds. I'll be going, you gotta be kidding me.
I can't be. I gonna talk about this, you know.
(09:36):
So it's just it's just a joke. But I don't
feel bad for the Raiders. I mean, you knew it
was gonna be something with Brown, just a matter of
what it was. Now we know, right right right, And
you know you talk about Gruden and what he's gonna
have to you know, do uh and in handling uh
Brown and make sure maybe find a little bit of
a high level of respect for Mike Tomlin's uh, you know,
(09:58):
head coaching skills with the Stealers. Was I mean, we
we really You mentioned the video, the Facebook video that
that uh you know, Brown had taped Tomlin's speech and whatnot.
But other than that, at least, you know, I wasn't
aware of him being you know, basically a nut. So
(10:18):
the fact that that Tomlin was able to keep him
in check all these years. You know, you know, you
give him a little credit almost when it comes to
tom One. I mean I think I stayed with my
my Blues Steve Deals fan and we did a show
us some time back, and uh, there's a lot of
pressure on Jason Garrett this year. A lot of people
think that if he doesn't go to at least the
(10:39):
championship game, he's gone. And we got to too common.
I'm like, you know, if the steel is where the fire, Tomlin,
I would take Tomin as a coach. As a fan
of the Cowboys, I would love Tomlin come coach to
Cowboys anytime anytime. I think steals be nuts to get
rid of tom on there. I mean absolutely nuts to
get rid of Tomlin. I think when it comes out
to the Brown you and I probably talked about this,
but unless you and he walked out on the team.
(11:00):
That week's seventeen, I'm gonna I watch NFL Live on
a regular basis, and Ryan Clark, the form with Stealist
Stay Safety, have to be on the show the day
he did the day after he did this, and he
I said, former teammate of Brown's former player, and he
crucified Antonio Brown and same thing that happened in the
past between him and the player and the player on
(11:21):
the team. And you never hear players say this, but
on the player never And that told me really, Oh,
I mean, I already had my opinion to Brown anyway,
but that really told me all I needed to hear
about Brown that when a former player is coming out
and killing you, I mean, there's a chance there was
something personal between him and Brown maybe, But when I
heard that, I'm like, Wow, this guy must have been
a problem for years. You know, it's it's it's it's
a prima donna attitude a lot. And all the athletes
(11:43):
have this as well. They get handed everything to them
all through their you know, their high school career, their
college careers because they're great on the field, and they
don't know when. I doubt Brown even knows he's being nuts.
I mean, Jude, you think Drew Rosenhouse is happy about
doing what this too? He can't be because he's got
me thinking of samething as group. You're not going to
practice over a helmet. Now I'm getting cold and screwed,
(12:03):
and I'm getting close to mayak about you not being there.
We just got you a big contract, you know. And
even Rosenhouse once again, he'll say everything right in public
on his little little interviews, you know, when he tries
to defend Brown, well he's wanting the saying helmetsins peewee.
Really his head has grown really okay, because I think
his head has grown quite a few size since he
was six. So you know, it's agents lie more than anybody.
(12:27):
Agents lie, moving defendants on trial, no defense attorneys for
that matter. Uh, it's just you know, like it's a
it's just stupid. It's a shame of talking about this
because and we're a fantasy show. Where do you draft Brown?
I'm not touching him, not, I don't have any leak,
so Joe and I don't see that changing. Yeah, I
took him in the Scotty fishball, so he's one of
(12:49):
my Why we didn't know that back then. So nobody
can knock you for yeah, yeah that that dras in
July for people who don't know it's early July. I'd
like to get up the Joe for that. Yeah, no
one can. No one can knock you for that. Thank you,
thank you. But I also have Geronimo Allison. So let's
talk a couple of minutes on the Packers, because we
mentioned Raiders beat the Packers in Winnipeg twenty one. So
(13:10):
Equanimius st. Brown Uh their wide receiver second and wide
receiver out four to six weeks now, so uh, Davante Adams,
Marquez Valve there's a scantling and Geronimo Allison uh making
up the triumphant of their wide receivers. I'm also interested
in this. Jake Kumero. Uh. He was two for twenty
with a touchdown. Like you said, none of the uh,
(13:33):
the Packers starters were used, but the the effective st Brown.
I mean what, Well, let me ask you this. We
were talking about, you know, the Matt Lafleur, Aaron Rodgers. Uh.
I guess you know they were button heads a little bit.
Any more clarity on what the Matt Lafleur Packers offense
(13:53):
is gonna look like and whether or not you think
that they could work together he and Rogers. I think
I think we're all wondering that, right. I think we're
all wondering what's gonna happen there. Rodgers was supposed to
play on Thursday, but I mentioned earlier with the field
he did not, you know, so we don't know. Nobody knows.
I still have Rodgers the top five fantasy quarterback, but
(14:15):
a little shaky about it. You know, he got he
gets banged up a lot now and now it's a
new offense. They want to run the ball more. I know.
One of the big issues between the Floor and Rogers
early on was that LA Floor doesn't want Rodgers changing
the play calls the line of scrimmage. I think this
is stupid by the Floor. By the way, Aaron Rodgers
a veteran quartback who knows what he's doing. He could
see the defense. How do you not want him to
(14:36):
change play calls? Now? I think that's just crazy. No,
I'll tell you the truth. But you know, I don't
know if they've worked that out, you know, allowed to
change the calls some calls, yeah, every now and that's
a call whatever when he sees something of deep at
the showing there. So we don't know. Uh I did.
The only person I'm gonna trust here is Davante Adams.
I would still take him as a top three white receiver.
No issues there, Uh Rodgers, I'm still I said, top
(14:59):
five quarterback I do have some some worries there. Aaron
Jones I sort of believe in, but not as much
as other people have as a midrange running back too.
And that's really it. As far as earlier picks. You know,
you mentioned Allison or I think I have having the
Scott Fishbowl, need Allison or MVS. I think I ended
up with Allison. I would probably rather have MVS now
than Allison. Once again, months ago, I don't have fifty
(15:21):
fifty now. I think NBS has taken the lead there.
That's Marcus val the Scandling as far as the number
two behind Tavante Adams. But I don't love either guy.
You know, once again, I don't are they gonna throw
as much as they did on the mccarnarthy. I just
don't know. I don't think anybody knows until we see
what this office looks like under the floor. Yeah, you
(15:42):
mentioned you have Rogers as your top five. It looks
like he's going maybe sixth round or so. Is that
still too early for you to take a quarterback. Yes, yes,
I'm not taking Kyle Rodgers around six most drafts I've
seen that's that's that's about right. Homes generally go was
in round three, Watson a round or two later, and
(16:03):
then the rest of the group is going around or
two after that. But I'm not taking a quarterback with
double digits, not in the one quarterback league. I don't
need to. I mean, we go this over and over again.
Quarterback is so freaking deep. I mean, I'll take a
twelve I'm in a twelve team league. I'll take the
swof quarterback. I'll take Ben Roethlisberger, you know, whatever it
might be, Uh, Drew Brees Andrew Luck's falling down the
(16:24):
boards now heavy al right, because we don't know what's
going on with his calf. Uh. The problem if you
take Luck and I have no problem taking a look
if you can get him late, even it's around nine.
But now you gotta take another quarterback. But you might
be doing anyway, so maybe it's no big deal. You
can get Kirk Cousins late, nor you know, uh, Philip Furthers,
Winston Jury Bis. I mean, they're all there. There's plenty
of quarterbacks to take there, so I don't have if
Luck is falling, He's the one guy, Joe where you
(16:46):
could convince me if he's there around eight not to
wait for double digits, that maybe I take Luck because
he would the values there. He's falling a couple of rounds.
Of course, that's like that injury. And if I'm if
I was planning on taking a quarterback anyway as a backup,
which honest league, I feel sort of forced to do
because everybody else is doing it as well. Probably want
to be screwed and not have a backup. Hate doing it,
(17:08):
but I might anyway that I'm okay with taking Luck
around uh in round eight, I might do that in
one quarterback leagues, tell you, shoot, Joe, though I don't
play in too many one quarterback leagues. Mm hmm, yeah,
I'd rather play in the two quarterback league or the
flat super flect league like yourself. But you bring up
a good point that you're reacting when you're taking that
second quarterback, which you wouldn't normally do. You're reacting to
(17:30):
your draft atmosphere. The other you know, the people you're
drafted with, so you have to you have to roll
with the punchers. So all right, we'll be back with more.
We get Fantasy update, breaking down some more Fantasy football

(20:39):
Hendricks bring it back. Welcome back Fantasy Sports Radio Network.
We get Fantasy Update, Joeklina, George Hut. How's it going, George?
You're like a little Jimmy Hendrick. Do you have Jimy Hendris? Gary,
(21:01):
I'm definitely. Uh, you know, Jimmy's what stop fifty anniversary
last weekend? Right? Ye didn't go to the first one?
You weren't there? All right, then we're gonna have like
a fifth anniversary concert? But uh, I guess they couldn't
(21:25):
pull it together, So would you have gone to it? Unlikely?
The Genesis was there? Come on, we talked about Genesis
before what happened. I don't think. I don't think I
cried to worry about Gennesis being there. No, did the
only the only band that they got back together. I
would go see Jennis that they did get back obviously
Floyd if they ever, that's never gonna happen with those two. Uh,
(21:49):
they can't stand each other. Uh Zeppelin for the surviving
members as well, I wouldn't mind seeing them. I think
what Jimmy Page and Uh play that don't get along
all that well either. It's funny how these guys think
gazillion dollars when they can't stand each other. Yeah, a different,
slightly different genre. But I would love to see the
(22:10):
Police get back together again. They just were yeah, well
just three years ago. No, they came more than that,
but I do lose track of time. Maybe it was
a couple of years further than that, but it was
in the past five years they came around and played.
I thought about going to see them. It was way
too expensive. That's one they were all going because the
Sting was changing the lyrics, right, he was changing people
(22:32):
of fans were complaining about it because I guess Sting
gets got bored, so he was changing the lyrics and
some of the songs, right, which I don't play fans. Yeah,
I remember hearing that. I said, I did think we're
going to see that, like going to all the old bands.
And I lived somewhat close to Jones Beach Theater, so
actually I was at Jones Beach Theater for the first
(22:53):
time in years. George a couple of weeks ago. First
time he yearsed that I was there. So Jimmy Buffett
Buffett Buffet, Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, he's always there. Jimmy
Buckett Fun Concert. My wife likes to say that the
first concept my uh Bioa's daughter ever heard was Who
at the Jones b Stare because we went there and
(23:14):
she was pregnant with my oldest daughter at the courtA.
I think they have back this September at Jones Beach Theater,
so get I think it's Shorge. You're a big classic
rock guy, so I am. So we went. I've seen
Who a few times. I would go see that. The
Only problem is last time I saw them, they played
their classics, but they also played about forty five minutes
of the new music they were doing. And listen, dull
(23:35):
three talents and guys, I love you, guys. I don't
want to hear this stuff. Man, play more of the
class every they're playing the new stuff. We were talking
about forty five manager probably all right, So we were
just talking to little package and then we're gonna move
on and talk about the Panthers. But you mentioned MVS. Marquez,
Valves Scanting, So I'm just looking at a dps. UH
(24:00):
have Veld, Scantling and DeShawn Jackson back to back in
NFFC draft. So if you're in the tenth, eleventh round.
Which one of those guys do you feel be more
comfortable taking in uh? In drafts? Well, I mean toward
this point, I don't know you're comfortable and taking anybody.
You're really looking for the guy who thinks is gonna
to play more. I probably go ENVS, you know, and
(24:23):
assuming PPR it was talking st Standard League, I probably
got D Jacks. I think the D Jax is he's
gonna have some big games. But there's a lot of
cooks in that kitchen there. You know, there's a lot
of balls to get around. We know Zach Gertz is
gonna get fed, all right. You know, also on Jeffrey
is gonna get fed. Nelson Agul has had a fantastic camp.
(24:43):
You know where does uh? How many bulls is Jackson? Again?
How many targets is gonna get each game? He'll get
his d throws because they're gonna want to keep that safety, honest,
But I don't know it's gonna be a plethora of
targets coming here for D Jacks. I think my MVS
on a week to week basis probably more consistent player.
But D Jacks and he's gonna have those games where
he catching out four balls, hunching thirty yards and two touchdowns.
(25:04):
So maybe he's a better best ball guy, right then?
Sure in a perfect world, absolutely definitely a better best
ball guy. M all right. Uh, Patriots uh beat the
Panthers Thursday night ten to three. But the big news
coming out and had Twitter and a tizzy. Who's Cam Newton?
Cam Newton four h for six thirty yards. Uh, suffered
(25:27):
what was originally thought to be an ankle sprain. Now
they're calling it a foot spring, and the Panthers are
cautiously optimistic that he's gonna be able to start Week one.
So he's dealing with, you know, recuperating from his shoulder surgery,
learning a new throwing motion. Uh. They had said he
got his deep ball back, and now he's got this
(25:50):
foot spring. Well, first of all, let me ask you,
are you uh more optimistic that it's a foot issue
instead of an ankle issue? You know, the the dreaded
injury that everyone is afraid of is the high ankle spring.
So this is a foot spring, but you're still gonna
plant yourself right. Well, that's not the problem with Cam
(26:11):
a lot. His fantasy value comes off his legs running
if he can't do that or he can't be that
kind of can that's an issue, you know. So that's
where my biggest worry is as far as camp is concerned.
If you want to believe the team, yes, you'd rather
be a footspring than an ankle sprain. Are they telling
the truth? Who the hell knows? And really, you know,
you know, my little Jokia, When can you tell the
team executive is lying when their lips move? All right?
(26:33):
I mean, and it wants to get state secrets. They're
not gonna want I don't know who they play in
week one off and but they're not gonna want that
team to to know what's going on. You know. Kenny run,
Kenn he cut? Can he be that kind of quarterback?
I can tell you right now. I wasn't drafting him anyway.
I didn't like this idea of the shoulder thing. He
was changing his motion here. I can't see how that's
gonna work. Yeah, this is this is not you know,
(26:55):
a young quarter he's thirty years old. He's been doing this.
He's been throwing this motion a long time. You tell
me all of a sudden, one off season's gonna change
that motion? Not buying that not buying that at all.
So if this old motion is truly bad for him,
that worries me. Or are you gonna be trying to
do the new motion He's gonna scriup is throwing. He's
never been the most accurate quarterback anyway. So I said,
I am I'm not liking this at all. In in in
(27:16):
one quarterback league, there was no way I was taking camp.
Two quarterback league. Thats different. Every quarterbacks drafted, so you
have to reevaluate who you likeking who you don't. I mentioned,
uh my home league draft that happened the other night.
I was just a friend of mine couldn't make it.
He left me a draft list, and unfortunately for him,
draft started at a seven. You know he uh that's
went super flex league. Cam went early. You know he
(27:37):
got he got Cam. I gave him Cam and I
get a texted to the draft. You know, thanks to asshole.
I'm like, Donna, do you know I draft the Curtis Samuel.
If I would have known at that time that uh,
Cam was hurt, I would have done either draft pick.
But I didn't know. You know, I only found out
with Cam because I was I end up doing the
show with Gabe and Mike Blewett in Game Live while
the draft was going on, they said that Camp got here, like,
(27:58):
oh man, this is like that Curtis Samuel I was
more annoyed than my friend was. But it looks like
I gonna believe. It looks like he would be okay
to start. I think he starts. You know, I'm not
worried about that. I'm worried about is he going to
be the Cam that can move? Can he can he
run Kenny Scramble? That's what I'm worried about. Joe right right,
and last season ran four thirty five yards a game,
(28:22):
uh for average in a real life you know, take
take away the fantasy. Who do you think? Uh? Kind
of silly even to ask this question? Is Cam Newton
more important to this offense than Christian McCaffrey. It all
starts with the quarterback? Now, oh oh, I would say
a healthy Cam Newton is I would wants get the
(28:43):
quote nobody nothing can be done without the quarterback. But
if he's not, then carries he becomes even more important
because it's gonna be a lot of dumpofs him. It's
gonna a lot of dump offs to him anyway, I mean,
I know there's a lot of talk about Curtis Samuel,
how how well he's looked in the camp, but he's
This is not the second company any kind top receiver.
You know, that's not gonna happen. I like d J. Moore,
(29:04):
I do, But once again, we're not talking about Julio
Jones and the making here. You know what they are,
and I'm saying the top of our receiver, We're not
talking about that here. They don't have that. Greg Olsen
is old and slow. You know how many times can
he break his ankle? You know, So they don't have
many playmakers. You have. Can is not can this this team?
I think this team is in trouble anyway. I don't
think it'll be a very good team, somewhere around five hundred.
(29:26):
But I can is not Cam. They're gonna have a
lot of issues this season. Yeah, alright, let's move about
to the Patriots. Like we said, the Pats beat the
Panthers ten three the other night. Uh Tom Brady eight
for twelve seventy five yards. Um. But let's focus on
what's been a troubling problem for fantasy players for years,
(29:48):
and it's the the backfield for the Patriots Sony Michelle
tent Carry's thirty six yards. Uh, James White. I don't
know if it's just me, but it doesn't seem to
be getting enough respect in fantasy drafts. Uh. Fantasy Pros
overall running back taken last year tenth in fantasy points
(30:11):
per game in PPR UH setting. So Michelle and White
there they are. They the two guys the to to
own here, and uh, you know, at one point last
year we started to see you that both played enough
when both were healthy where both could be very fantasy
(30:32):
viable backs. I mean, other people mentioned Rex Burkhead, something
like Damian Harris. But Michelle and White solid the guys
to own week two weeks of this Patriots backfield. Yes,
those are two. Those are two guys you want. I
understand why there's some hesitation about White. I get it.
(30:53):
He's not He's got the nutritional back. He's not gonna
run the rustable a whole lot. He's the guy catches
the ball in the backfield. So standard league you probably
don't want him, but in a PPR league you don't
want because he's gonna catch a lot of balls. Most
agree that Brady, Yeah, he doesn't have the only chick
he once had. Josh Gordon comes back, probably does hurt
White a little bit, you know, because they will now
targets going to Josh Gordon. But you know, for White,
(31:16):
he's not gonna be forgotten about. Gordon was Dale last
year and they still threw the ball to him. White
is a that he's pretty much. His handoffs are the flipouts,
those five little ten year little throws to the the flat.
That's that's his handoffs. So I think there's enough for
him to go around here. His offense is still gonna
be a decent offense here. Uh, Brady is pretty much
a three five step drop at this point, three five
(31:37):
step drop to get rid of the ball, and he
has no problem. It's not there. He's like what he
sees in the defense. In a secondary it's going to White,
it's going to Edelman. That's where the majorities of his
throws are gonna go. He'll take his deep chance with Gordon,
but his throws are going to White and Ellen. I understand,
like I said, he's not White. It's not sexy. Yeah,
he's not a ten touchdowns eyeless. It's not it's limited
upside here, but he's a good steady back of where
(31:59):
he's going. He's running back three flex play. I don't
have an issue with that. There you go, Okay, So
get your pen and pencil out there, or pencil. I'm
gonna give you a four guys, four running backs going
right around the same time. And uh, I want to
see who are you taking? We're talking maybe fourth fifth
round here. Uh, Michelle, we got Crisps Carson, we got
(32:24):
David Montgomery. And let's throw James White in there and
and presume that this is a PPR scoring format. Alright,
so it was Michelle and White. I get you have
two backs on the same team gonna, you know, take
away some carries to each other. Carson is gonna have
some compelation from Penny, but probably not as much that
(32:44):
Carson is the guy you want there. Montgomery's got Cohen,
So I got Carson ahead. Yes, these all these backs
have someone else to worry about there, But I'll take
Carson first because I think Penny is not as big
accompetition to him as uh as the other backs got
to the other players here there. So I think he's
a nice a nice running back to mid range to
low range running back to here Montgomery. What are we
(33:07):
gonna see from him? Are they gonna give him the carries?
Is it gonna be once again? Uh? He's the between
the tackles guy. Cohen's the catching the ball of the backfield.
We did hear the head and coach this week say,
maybe I was coding too much last year? Interesting if
I'm not get interesting to hear Joe? Uh that he said, Yes,
I don't know. I say that, you know, does he
does he mean it? Does? I mean? Comone's gonna get
less opportunities here? So I am. I am high on
(33:30):
the guy. I like Montgomery, but I don't know if
I believe the coach. But still I'm gonna go with
him here over only because I know he's a touchdown guy, right.
Cohen's gonna get the shot of the touchdowns here, and
then I'll go Michelle over White. But that's close, and
that's actually a coin to us, Michelle of a White.
The Carson's the easy choice from here. Montgomery is a
little a little tougher over the two New England backs here,
but I'll go Carson Montgomery Michelle White. Yeah, I could
(33:55):
see that, and uh, you know I'm getting Carson just
seems like, Yeah, he's gonna get some competition from Penny.
I think he's still gonna be the predominant force ode
of that backfield in Seattle. And looked, we saw what
the Seattle offense looked like last year. They're gonna run
a lot again this season as well. And when I
look at David Montgomery, it makes me think of Devin Singletary,
(34:18):
who we spoke about in the past, you know, past
segments in this show, you get the Singletary much later Montgomery. Uh,
a lot of mouse to feed in that backfield. And
like you, I thought it strange that the un Bears
mentioned that maybe they used calling a little bit too
much less season, so it will be interesting. But I
(34:39):
agree with with with with your rankings. And uh, let's
take a look at the Redskins, uh Falcons. Redskins beat
the Falcon seventeen seven. And let's talk specifically about the
Redskins backfield. And I know Darius Guys was a guy
that you UH invested in pretty highly last season I
remember from doing shows with you, and then he went
(34:59):
down with that that a c L and preseason, Um,
it looks like he's gonna be ready for week one
got forty four yards on the ground. Uh, Redskins offensive line,
what are we thinking about it in terms of I mean,
it's it's got some issues there with the Trent Williams situation. Uh.
It seemed to like to have a strong line, but
(35:19):
then again they were dealing with some injuries. So talk
to me about what you first of all, what you
expect that at Darius Guys this season. You know, Chris
Thompson still there, but it seems to have lost some
speed after past knee issues. Maybe he's the third down
back past catcher catching passes out of the backfield. Then
you have you know, Adrian Peterson a thousand forty two
(35:40):
rushing yards and sevent t d s last season, and
he's playing for the money from what ends, then he's
heavily in debt. So tell me how do you think
that this Redskins backfield breaks down? Yeah, guys, your memory
is very good. By the way, guy crossed me last year. Alright,
Tidman several leagues when he got hurt. That did not
(36:01):
work out well for me. I had an interesting keeper
choice in my home league with Darius Guys drapped them
around twelve last year. You know a place in mine.
I are. The plan was to keep him this year
and next round twelve. It is good value, and I
wanted to keep him, but ended up being in my
home league. I also, it came down to him in
round twelve or e An Ingram round seventeen, and I
(36:22):
end up going with Ingram because so many of the
Titans are being kept. I think the top five tight
ends were all being kept up here. I was gonna
have a chance to Kelsay, Earths or or Kindle. They
were roal keepers. So I end up keeping keeping Ingram.
I don't know if I made the right choice there.
Obviously I got value five rounds lower, but a running
back so important, you know, so that I was. I'm
(36:42):
still beating myself up with that. I don't know if
I made the right choice there. I did not get
guys I think went around six in the with our draft.
Um I believe he may maybe an eight. Was he
the sixth raight so I was doing for less than twelve.
I don't know. Maybe I made the right choice there,
Maybe I didn't. I can tell you why I didn't
choose him for the reasons you mentioned. You know, Adrian Pearson,
(37:03):
you know I love the draft pick Thompson. You know
you mentioned the Trent Williams are holding out. I mean,
and he's pissed by the way. I don't think he's
going back to that team. Uh So there's a lot
going on there, you know, a lot going on there,
and I think I just got scared, you know, And
I said, all right, I'm gonna stay away from the
situation because what I would would I be comptable starting
guys weekend week out. You know, EI think he is
(37:24):
their best back. I think they might play it slowly.
I also think this officer can struggle somewhat. That receiving
corps in Washington is horrendous. There's gonna be another situation
where case Keene and Dwayne Haskins, who Kee is gonna
start there? Team is gonna be loading up the box
to stop guys. I just don't say anything he can
and good paying attention guys, little whole bloyer. I was
(37:44):
gonna say, but Vona Jeff had attention a little Who's
taking it that we'll be back before we get fantasy
up there. The sun can make your outdoor deck and

producer team today, Cristpavone and Jeff take care business behind

they got a little uh suit you for you George,
(41:03):
I'm a weird old guy till you want to pull
that out. Uh, I was. You know these game shows
that they play on the ABC, they bring it back,
all these game shows. Uh, weird al was on one
of them. It looks it looks like he's had a
little work done. I didn't see it, so I couldn't
tell you. I did see weird Allen concert uh in April.
(41:26):
Really that that reason. Huh. He's still putting out. He's
always around. Oh you see in the Queen Queen's Yeah,
I was gonna go to that. It was It was
a lot of fun, and it made it more fun
because he did it with a live orchestra. Oh wow,
and he still play That's why I was gonna go. Yeah,
(41:49):
I thought about going to Uh when I went to
Chris Till he didn't play the parodies. He played all
his originals. Yeah. I actually saw that show, that same
show back in March of last year. Um in Harlem.
I went to the Power Mountain Hunting. Yeah, I saw
that the Apollo Theater and yeah, it's it was a
(42:11):
very different. It was almost kind of like an unplugged
version of him. Yeah it was. It was really cool.
It was. It was a lot of fun. My daughter's
likes because I listened to all the time. My daughter likes,
so she wanted to go. So I took my daughter
and my wife to uh A little weird owl. I
love that your that your family was down for that.
My wife would never go. My daughter was dying and
(42:32):
my wife would got anything. She's she's very open like that.
She'll she'll just go, my wife. I took it to
a Genesis concert is years ago, probably at least a
decade at Giant Stadium and some now she did come
up a long shift, but how can you sleep through
a concert. She slept through the I mean literally the
entire content. She's an out cold, like so good. I
paid for this ticket and you're you're a Giant Stadium,
(42:53):
had a pretty good seats there and she's out cold. Um,
I basically did the same thing at a Bruce Springsteen concert.
You fell asleep with a Bruce Springstein concert? Yes, my defense,
I guess he wasn't the boss that night. Uh No,
Actually my defense, I was wasted. Okay, al right, I
(43:15):
was nice. That's a little different because yeah, yeah, yeah,
I probably had a good nap because he does like
a two or three hour sometimes four hour show. So
my wife and she just saw a kiss at Barclay
Center the last tour, right, I did not see him there.
Fortunately it was still a good show. Yeah. I saw
(43:37):
him a couple of years ago. Yeah, yeah, I saw
him a couple of years ago. There's still you know,
even though yeah, yeah, it was fun. But Jean doesn't
he doesn't need to make up anymore to look like
a demon. He kind of does now and the uh
and he's he's wearing spanks now right. They all are sad.
(43:58):
They still you know, they were still awesome. Paul Stanley
is still nominal singer. Yeah, still has the pipes. I agreed, agreed, agreed, Okay, alright,
good stuff, alright, so let's finish up. Alright, good talk
with you, Bivona. Um, so let's finish up talking. Ravens Eagles,
(44:18):
George Ravens beat Eagle. Uh and uh, everyone's getting excited
over j j R. Sega Whiteside eight four one oh
four in a touchdown. Josh mc cown. Uh, seems like
you could just wake up and just start slinging the
ball seventy hundred ninety two passing yards to touch that. Uh.
(44:38):
We talked about the Shawan Jackson and uh, you know
there's a lot of mounts of feed and this uh
and this uh wide receiver pool Alshon Jeffrey. Uh. You
know you have the two good tight end zach Ertz,
Dallas Goddard and you mentioned Agalre has looked pretty good
this preseason, so UH give me you to take on
(45:00):
white side. How much of a role could he have
in this offense? I mean that that's the problem. I
mean I like the player too, but the same thing
I just said before. Are there gonna be bols to
go around to make everybody happy? You know? I I
doubt it. I just doubted. Uh. This team is logoed
with talent all over the place, and this is one
(45:20):
of the few teams that they except for one injury,
and they'll be all right except two injuries that I
started positions, they'll be all right. You know, they got
the depth there over and over. Some people don't think
they're gonna bring Earth's back because they got Dallas guarded
behind them so they don't have to pay him. You know,
it's just that they loaded a deep talent here. I
mean when some accounts and ice backup on now that stuff.
Folks got the injury. He's out for a little bit.
(45:40):
Howard Sanders, Sproles clements small with Josh Adams. There are
all the guys who would do something, Jeffrey, Jackson, Aguilar.
Uh you imagined our cigarettes side. Mccollinsh. I still kind
of like, you know, Earth's garted. I mean this this
office just loaded here with the talent, deep talent here.
But the problem, Joe is, I mean they can't don't
catch the ball. There's one ball. You know, zach Ertz
is gonna get his right, Art is going to get
(46:02):
his and with the running game after that, I don't know,
there's gonna be a lot left. You know, Jeffrey is
gonna be the big play guy or you know, uh,
Jeffrey and Jackson the big play guys. Alas having a
very big camp. I would have been much happy about
our secon if wasn't having that good at camp. Yeah,
maybe he could. There's a role from there. I just
don't know there is. I just don't know there is.
Do you want to take a shot out of the the
(46:23):
double digit rounds? I'm okay with it, but I would
keep your expectations in check. There you go, and talking
about the Eagles, how about that backfield? I mean, they
have been notorious, so we talked about it all the time,
about the way that they spread the ball around. Uh,
in terms of cavities in their backfield. You mentioned Jordan Howard,
(46:44):
Miles Sanders, very talented back, but uh, you know who
is the running back that you own uh from this backfield?
Or is this just you know, too much of a
running back by committee situation where you might stay away
fantasy wise? Well, history tells us on a Doug Peterson offense,
(47:05):
everyone's going to play. And by everyone, I pretty much
mean Howard Sanders spros. You know. I don't know if
he meant. I think he's more to back up to somebody,
but he'll he'll get some carries as well. He likes
to play everybody, keeps everybody fresh. Sort of what Adam
Gates wanted to do with the Jets, by the way,
when the Gates didn't really want Bell, he wanted to
go the same route here, right, not pay one running
back big money, I get it, right, I get it. Uh.
The running back I own the most is Jordan Howard.
(47:27):
Only the values there I'm getting even double digit rounds
and you know, a lot of drafts. I'll take that.
You know, I think he's gonna be at least be
the goal line guy, you know, short yarders guy I did.
Will be a bigger role for him than that anyway,
people are begging him Miles Sanders, who Yes, I think
it is the best back there. But if Peterson is
not going to use obviously going around six, I can't
spend that kind of draft capital on a player who's
not going to be, you know, a true starter. You know,
(47:49):
I'm not sure he starts at all. He may be
the change of pace back or maybe even though you know, oh,
I don't know a fifty thirty split when Howard when bros.
Gets the other it's twenty. You know, I just don't
know how we're gonna work it out there, So I
don't want to. Bottom line is this joke. I don't
want to spend high draft capital on any of these backs.
I think they all could have value. What if you
if I could pluck one or two out of it
where I just get rid of these guys, I would
(48:09):
like it even more. But the bottom line is, I
think there's a lot of cooks in the kitchen here. Yeah. Uh,
let's take a look at the Ravens. Like I mentioned
the beat the Uh. I know you're you're liking uh
Lamar Jackson? Uh do you like him much better than
(48:29):
you would uh the quarterback for the Bills, Josh Allen.
I mean when I look at them, I mean both
of them running running quarterbacks. Both of my issues throwing
the ball. I mean, you know, Alan a little bit inconsistent,
you know, not as you know, and and Lamar Jackson
also has had issues. But they both have that that
(48:53):
high floor because they're able to run with the ball.
And in my opinion, uh, maybe you you look at
the Ravens wide receivers and they might have some more upside.
But do you like Lamar Jackson a lot better than
you would? Uh? Josh Allen? Well, yeah, he has better
weapons to throw too. And Lamar Jackson is a running quarterback.
(49:16):
Alan is a quarterback who can run. There's a difference there. Uh.
That I was all we used to discussed it earlier,
so I'm not gonna go into it again. But Buffalo
just has no one to throw too. I'm sorry when
John Brown basy, you know, there's nobody there. I'm sorry
that that offense is gonna struggle, and I they're not
gonna open up the offense because they they're gonna believe
they can keep games close and they can't with that defense.
(49:36):
They're gonna play a lot of seventeen fourteen games and
you know, whoever makes that mistake in the fourth quarter,
that team loses. So they they'll go with that. Lamar Jackson,
we know what he can do. You know, I said
this many times. Just do the simple math um Uh,
Lamar Jackson. If you throws for a hundred seventy five yards,
which is nothing, that's seven fantasy points. Okay, it throws
for a touchdown, now you have throw eleven fantasy points.
(49:59):
If you rush your for sixty yards, now you're at
seventeen fantasy points. And we'll give him a rushing touchdown
every other week. So now at twenty fantasy points and
he's done nothing. He's done nothing, all right, He's got
such a high floor. Yes, he has trouble throwing the ball.
You know, we have to assume he's made uh some
(50:21):
kind of progress since last season. I assume he has.
You know, they've got some different weapons there that should
help as well. People he can grow grow with. Like
I said, I've named twenty fantasy points there, Joe. He's
done nothing yards in the game is nothing. One touchdown
past the game that's sixteen a year, that's nothing. Sixty
yards rushing that's probably something, but he'll eclipse that in
some games. And one rushing touchdown every other week. It's
(50:43):
eight for at season. That sounds about right for Lamar Jackson.
He is. The floor is just so high when you're
saying the safe floor. And I think most weeks will
probably get more with twenty points. Maybe not a lot more,
but what with twenty points. He's a quarterback that I
would I have in a super flux thing. I'm dying
to have him because I want to take that chance.
My only worry is this, if they are serious, you
know when we've heard different reports here, but they are
(51:04):
serious that he's going to run ten twelve times a game,
well he'll be in hospital before long. He won't survive.
He's not built like Cam Newton and Cam Newton gets
He's not built like Ben Roethlisberger. He's a much smaller guy.
So if they if they do run him ten twelve times,
you know, we'll be singing taps. Good point. Uh and uh,
(51:27):
not only with you know, Jackson being a running quarterback.
Other than that, the Ravens, you know, love to run
the ball, ran the ball ton last season. Uh no,
mock Ingram in this past uh this past preseason game.
But well, Justice Hill seven carries for eight yards. Who cares?
You know? But what do we think his role is
(51:48):
gonna be in this backfield? Is he uh, you know,
basically Ingram's handcuff for he's gonna get enough carries in
a game where he could eventually have a little bit
of fantasy value. I don't know why they felt the
need to bring into Ingram. I don't especially you're gonna
draft the running back. I mean, Hill, Dixon and Edwards.
(52:09):
They'd have been fine, right they've been plus Lamar Jackson
run a lot. This is gonna be a running team,
and they're gonna run the ball a lot, you know,
forty times a game. I would take minimum, you know,
so there should be enough to go around here. With
that being said, Angles gonna get once again the first, second,
third chance to fail, and he may not fail. He
was actually still good running back and we know more
(52:30):
than likely be at least the goal line guy. You
wo think Gus Edwards next Causedwards had a nice year
list year. He may not be flashy sexy, but he's
good running back. Uh. Dixon is probably more of a
I don't know, breaking break lest in case of emergency
kind of guy. And I do like just as Hill.
I like him a lot. But there's just, once again,
too many cooks in the kitchen here, and none of
them may be all that valuable. I don't have any
of them as a running back to your angle to
(52:51):
me is a flex player running back three, and you
go down the line from there. You know, Edwards probably
more of a handcuffed than anything else at this point.
Maybe that's just as Hill as well. But these guys
are more, you know, back into your roster, reserve guys.
But uh, I don't don't know why they signed. I
don't think they needed to do it. I think they've
been fine with the other three. Draft Hill and with
Lamar Jackson running, you didn't need somebody else, right right?
(53:13):
Uh So, yeah, we talked about the Ravens being a
running team, but they're gonna have to throw the ball
to someone, so, uh, you know, Seth Roberts will he Snead, UH,
Marquis Brown's coming off a list, Frank Surgery, Miles Boykin,
if you believe what your read has been the most
impressive Ravens wide receiver this offseason. But let's talk for
a second about Mark Andrews, their tight end. UH thirty
(53:35):
four catches five fifty two yards last season. UH sixty
two catches as a junior at Oklahoma. UH. What do
you think about Mark Andrews and what kind of a
season do you think that he could put. They think
that he could significantly improve on that thirty four catch
performance from last year. I think you can improve, yes,
(53:58):
significantly now that probably once together Zoe Lamore Jackson, But
I think he made up being the number one receiver,
you know, I mean not a war receive, but receiver
a period. I don't. I don't like this why receiving
court at all. I know, you know they took Brown.
They're hoping, you know, once again he can develop with Jackson.
I have no issues with that, you know, but I
don't think it's gonna be the the year those sudden
what Jackson's figures it out and Brown on as the
(54:19):
first year whatever seire it has a great season, you know,
there's also it's what tight ends in the mix as well. Here.
You know, Hayton Hurst was supposed to be good to
at one point. Nick Boyle's all through. But yeah, so
I think they're once again my favorite phrase it seems
to say a lot of cooks in the kitchen here,
you know, can they all be fair? I don't know,
you know, I doubt it because once again, this is
(54:39):
going to be a run team first. You don't hear
that that oft in the NFL. When I say a
run team first, I really been run team first, run
team second, and probably run team third before they truly
try and throw the ball here. I will say this
when it comes to the Ravens, this defense may not
be what it was right when they were lockdown defense
could play those games. They may give up more point,
(55:00):
which could lead to more throwing because they Ravens could
be trailing more. They're not a bad Devens, don't get
me wrong, but they're not a top ten anymore either,
so that could lead to my throws. Right um, alright,
So sticking with tight ends, By the way, I forgot
to mention that when we talked about the Redskins. Unfortunately
for Jordan reed Man, this guy snake bitten, uh coming
(55:25):
up with a concussion, his seventh known concussion of his career.
So I was gonna give you like four or five
tight ends that are going around the same grouping and
I'm gonna take obviously Jordan Read out of there. But
why don't we uh, these four tight ends that are
going around, let's see maybe eleventh twelfth round the Lady Walker,
(55:48):
Kyle Rudolph, Dallas Goddard and Mark Andrews that we just
talked about. Who do you like out of these four
or rank them? All? Right? I like welcome the best
out of these four. I it wouldn't shot me once again.
If he's the leading receiver for Tennessee Titans. Uh. Walker,
he's up there in age coming off the injury, so
there is some worry there, but he's really he may
(56:09):
be the only reliable receiver there. Mariota has trouble at
the wilder. Corey Davis this was this will be another
run team first, you know, so Henry with Dion lewis there.
But I like Walker. I think I've got him in
the Scott Fishball is my second tight end. That's a
league where it once is gonna be we reward. Uh.
I think the next your half point per reception, uh
(56:29):
Rudolf would be next. I don't. He's getting no love
in fantasy leagues. I mean none. I know he had
a social year last year. Cousins had his issues as well.
I think that reverts back. I think he ends up
being a top twelve tight end this year. Uh. Nothing great,
but against it being top twelve there, I can't put
Godard here because once again zach Ertz he wasn't. I
think it could be a very good tight end, very
(56:50):
good tight end, but with zach Ertz there now once
again or just getting old the play there. So I'll
have Walker one, uh Rudolph two, Andrew's three go to
it for I'm not gon and he just did. Uh.
So those are my tough flex It's this is not
a knock on god I like him a lot, but
he needs he needs Earth to go away to really
be valuable, right right. And when it comes to Rudolph,
(57:13):
he spoiled us with that twenty sixteen season where he
had eighty three catches and then follow that up with
eighty one I know, fifty seven and sixty four. So
I think he spoiled US people expected more so. It's
great working with you, George. Great thanks to Christopher Bone
and Jeff behind the glaask people to apply straight stay
(57:34):

Thanks for listening to the weekend pendas. The update
