You worked all week work work, work, work, work, work, work,
work work, you didn't have time to look at your
fantasy lineups, but don't be afraid. That's why we give

(00:41):
you weekend Fantasy Update. Thankfully, we're not working at nine
five today, night to three for me, nine twell for Jip.
If we can Fantasy Update, uh, programming new notes, Uh

(01:03):
we can. Fantasy Update won't be on on Saturdays anymore.
We're doing a little college football live and then we're
doing it looks like an in game live from twelve
to six after that, which, uh, we don't know who's
who's doing what shows you, so I can't tell you that,
but I'm sure Cam and I will be involved in
the in game live of some sort next Sunday. As
far as weekend Fantasy Update, I'm not sure yet. It

(01:26):
is Labor Day weekend. There may be no programming. They
might be programming. Maybe it'll be all last weekend Fantasy
Update show. We'll find out, and I will let you know.
I'll tweet out as soon as I do find out
for those who will enjoy listening to us. We'll see
how that works, all right, Jim, Uh you know it's funny.
I think I told you during the break there's a
you know, one more segment on Andrew Luck in Indianapolis,

(01:47):
And there's so many questions still go through my head
here that I'm not so sure I'm gonna live up
to that agreement. But we were talking while on Mac
you mentioned Nahi heinz uh. So I'm gonna play with
the same game I play with you with t Y Hilton.
As far as Mac is going learned, Uh No. My
believe is what's gonna running back with the pole starter?
You know he's I'm not gonna say I'm not gonna
draft him. I'm just more worried about him now. So

(02:07):
Marlin Mac mark Ingram I'm blue Dad. That's that's a
really tough choice. For me because people who listen to me, No,
I'm not a hundred sold on Ingram in that Baltimore offense. Uh,
never running our run in an r p O offense before.
And I'm a little worried that Justice Hill actually fits

(02:30):
that offense a little better. So you probably couldn't have
picked up better matchup here. Um, you know, yeah you did.
This is a tough one for me. I think I would.
I think I would still go Mac just because they
still have a great offensive line and you know, percent

(02:51):
should do fair enough to keep the stack boxes at
least to a mediocre range. So it's not every down. Um.
So yeah, that's a really tough one. But in in
all reality, I'll be honest with you, at this point,
I would almost find somebody else to draft at that
point besides either of them. I would have Mac r

(03:14):
Ringram as well. I don't believe an ing of at all.
I just don't for the reason you mentioned. I'm not
gonna get into it any further than that. Uh maca Henry, oh, Henry.
At this point, it's all about the team being smart
enough to use him the way he's supposed to be used.
But I still go with Henry New England back. I'm

(03:35):
starting to buy it to Sony Michelle. I mean, they're
saying all the right thing. He's looking good, He's seems
to be fully healthy right now. They want to get
him involved in the passing game a little more. I'm
not saying he's gonna go out and catch fifty six balls,
but heck, you give me to thirty on the season
along with his touchdowns, and I'd like that a ton.
There's always gonna be some concern with New England backs,

(03:55):
but at this point I'd take Michelle either Chicago back.
Oh absolutely, David Montgomery absolutely without even a freaking out. People,
if you have any doubts at all about David Montgomery,
get rid of him. This kid next year is going
to be in the running to be a first round
uh pick in fantasy drafts. I have him inside my

(04:17):
top twelve right now. Nice say, look little not good
from Jim Day. They I kind of agree with you,
By the way, I like David montgom me a lot
as well. Here. Now it's funny, I just remember this,
uh because I was tree comen. Uh. I gotta in
the league that Jim Days, that Jim Day isn't playing it.
But it's the league Jim Day set up. I don't
know a decade ago our former platform. Serious. Uh, I

(04:39):
mean I'm still in that league. It's a it's a
heavy league, six and thirty two teams, but sixteen team conference.
It's really two sixteen team leagues that league. I like
this and I think that's one of that's one of
my favorite things to play it because it's what forties
forty five million rosters. It's I dbat. We actually started
more I defensive players that do offensive players, no kickers,
no defense. Uh. It is a fun leak. I like it.

(05:01):
But I bring it up because I get a trade
proposal last night from the program director Matt Deutsch. He
plays in that league. Matt has Andrew Luck. Matt has
no other quarterbacks. I have three starting quarterbacks. They're not great.
I have Derek carran Garoppolo, Nick Foles, and I have
strong quarter sta it. I know they're not great, all right,

(05:27):
but anyway, Uh, Matt, he's he has no quarter He
literally has no starter other than Andrew Lucks. He's scrambling.
He's trying. He's been trying to get Nick Foles for
me for a while. But I didn't like the offers.
At one point, you offered me Avie Williamson before the injury,
glad I told a said note to that. Uh so anyway,
but last night he made a good offer. I mean
you can tell he's desperate, you know, because of the

(05:49):
the loss of Arew Lucky now has to make a
and if he gets my attention, and he got it,
he offered me. Uh, Tyler Boyd and Anthon Collins four
Garoppolo now in this league, Jim, I'm strong up wide receiver.
Boy I don't even know if you crack it, I

(06:10):
start on a weekend and week I'd be a magic
because I am a very strong at wide receiver. Landon
Collins probably a start for me, But I don't know
if issues that safety either. Everybody in this league has
issues at running back, you know, and That's where I'm
going with here. He countered, which are free? Cohen? Would
you do this movie at both for Garoppolo? He wants
Groppolo won't. Uh. If it's for Folds, I would do.

(06:30):
I would do even deal for foals Garoppolo. I'm hesitating
on I understand he has issues. I wanted to do
it for Cohen Cohen, it's not enough for me at
this point. UM team. You know they've already to come
out and said they're gonna, you know, lower his touches
from last year, Um, which is concerning at best for
me and and at worst, Like I said, I love

(06:51):
Montgomery and you know he catches the ball out of
the backfield, you know very well. So I'm not saying,
you know, he's got that explosiveness that Cohen does have
and we know that, and Cohen will still get his pieces.
I just think it's gonna be very, very hard to
count on from week to week. You're talking about a

(07:12):
guy here that I consider at this point best a
why bye week filler, an injury maybe filler. But man,
I couldn't do that for a starting quarterback, especially when
you know we needs one. Push him. Get him, get
him to give you a better running back, even if
you have to throw another piece in on your at
a running back, if that's what you need, if you're

(07:32):
so flush at wide receiver, offer him, you know, the
Garoppolo and a wide receiver and get a better running back.
But Cohen is not gonna fix anything for you. And
at that point you're you're selling low on Garoppolo with
all the new current news we had, although we had
a decent game last night. Um so yeah, I think
you're selling low on him at this point. I would

(07:53):
want more. Uh two things. One, I agree with you,
I will. I already turned down a deal for Garoppolo.
I did say I do it for foals. He has
gotten back to me. As far as a better running back,
poor Matt Uh, Cohen is his best running back. He
has no other running back after that. His best running
back is ap A. J. Pierson. That's it. He's got

(08:13):
nobody after that. Yeah, he's uh, he's got he's got issues.
He's got issues. I think he uh, I think he
may have won this LEA a couple years ago. He
must have made a lot of trades and he has
a great defensive team. Because really he's got he's got issues.
Um My. The reason why Cohen interests me, I am
a Melvin Gordon owner in that league, and my running
backs are not deep at all. That I got to
want to fadame him. Paul and Mac those are my

(08:34):
top two stars. After that, I don't really have much,
you know, I got Josh Adams, Jase Edmonds, Uh, that's it.
That's all that j J. If he have a science.
That was one of the fun things about that league.
It's not like it's really hard to build a strong
lineup across the boards. You know, either either you're really
good at the defense or you're really good at offense.
But the building across both spectrums was really hard, which

(08:57):
was one of the things I wanted when I designed
to So I'm glad it's still going strong. It is.
It's a lot of different owners every year, we're probably
three four different owners. People drop in and out over time,
but it's it's a fun league. I have little I'm
the Buffalo Bills. I've lost in the championship three straight
years now, so I'm getting taken crated. Yeah, I got
girly a couple of years ago. Last year, I was

(09:18):
it's never even been closed. That's I guess that's the
good thing. It's never even be closed. I've gotten blown out.
I've known by you know, by four thirty on week
six and I'm done. You know, it's any crush. So
I didn't have to. I didn't sweat anything out. I've
got my doors ball, you know, my brains beat in.
But I said, I'm curious to see if you'll do
it for folds. I'll do folds for because fol is
really an extra for me I do. It's a cut
down league, and I got players to cut, and uh,

(09:40):
I'm struggling with somebody's cuts, so I wouldn't have an
issue here. But we'll see when he comes back with him.
He does it during the show, but he was sending
me emails at two three am, so I don't know
what time he's waking up today. God bless Matt. Matt.
Matt's a little nuts for these things, but God bless.
We'll see what he comes back with. And uh, we'll
see what's going on there. All right, So you you
dropped Mac, so have I. Uh, it's gonna it's gonna

(10:02):
be tough for Indian apples there. Let's get to the
conspiracy theory because I don't want I don't want to
forget about this. Uh, you know, it just a it
was a weird situation now and then one said you
had a draft. I had that was not watching this live.
You know, I was at a friend's house. There was
no TV, so uh only heard about this later and
because I actually asked um the Chris watch his son

(10:23):
during the draft. I'm like, is Indianappois home tonight when
came out, and he goes, yeah, yeah, And then you
read it Andrew Luck was yucking it up on the sidelines.
When I say that, I don't mean that derogatory yell.
He was talking out on the sidelines when news came out.
When you found out, when I found out, that's when
the fans found out in the stadium. I mean you.
I originally thought that maybe somebody from the team who

(10:43):
was peid off leaked this, but I think your explanation
is probably better. Go ahead, Jim, Well, yeah, I wasn't
actually watching this during during the OX and I had
my TV and yeah, he was on the sideline talking
with his you know, the players on the team, and
no doubt about it. And then the news broke. And
they originally said that he had planned the news conference

(11:04):
for Sunday, but I guess once the news broke, they
felt they had to do it right now, and they
set up an impromptu new press conference and he went
right in and you know, he was in a T
shirt and everything, and even he said, look, this is
not the way I wanted to do this, or look,
but really had no choice, and then he went on
to tell why he was retiring. So, yeah, it caught

(11:26):
everybody by surprise, the fans and everything. And you know
a lot of people are saying I was, like you said,
somebody in the team must leaked it because they were
pisted it happened. But I don't think that's the case. Look,
Adam Schefter has tentacles everywhere, He's got contacts everywhere, and
this paperwork had to be filed with the league, So
more than likely they filed the paperwork with the league
and somebody in the league office got got it to

(11:48):
Schefter and that's where the news came from. I don't
think it was anybody in the team that would have
done this, uh piste off or not. I just don't
see that happening. Not a good look for the team
during the game that they would want that to happen.
You know, after the game, when the fans are going home,
that's fine. You know, they had their good time at

(12:09):
the stadium, watched the game, you know, enjoyed what they saw.
That was good. To do it in the middle of
the game, you know that that just turned everybody off.
So I don't think it was a team at all.
More than likely it came from the front office. Yeah,
you know, and I like my conspiracy theories, but you know,
then when you think about it largely, you're probably correct. Uh.
Still to find out, I mean, I wonder do you

(12:31):
think his teammates new because man, if you know you're
right playing for that team. And also we find out Andrew,
look what you're retiring, you're hedn't tell him. Wow, I'd
be I would not be happy, Jim, I would not
be happy either. Um, and yeah, I don't know at
that point. Supposedly this is something they've been talking about,
well him in the front office for the last two weeks,

(12:54):
so they've been going back and forth. I'm sorry, I
think to the locker room before the game. Oh, there
you go. I hadn't heard that yet. H was like
upset and stuff. But I think they they knew before
the game started. Oh, I'm sure t Y Hilton was upset.
He was probably throwing out the locker room. Um, yeah,

(13:17):
you know. Uh, it's Look, it's tough for everybody, no
doubt about it. But you know, you could hate Luck
all you want, but it's his body. We don't know
exactly what he's going through at this point, and he
said it best for me. You know, this is a game.
You're playing a game. Sure they're getting paid lots of money,
they're playing a game. When it loses being fun, If

(13:38):
you can't enjoy being out there and you've got millions
of dollars behind you, already get out before it becomes
such a bad thing that all of these injuries come
come back and all of a sudden he's got lifelong
health issues because of all these injuries. You know what,
sometimes you just got to step away, whether you like
to or not. Obviously it wasn't something he wanted to do.

(13:59):
Each Is felt it was right for him at the time.
Let me ask you a question, Jim, I've had this, George,
go right ahead. I had this tone with a couple
of parents. Uh. Now I have girls, so I don't
have to I don't have to deal with this myself.
Your son, would you let him play football? That's simp

(14:20):
would you love? Hey you're talking to somebody who played football,
you know, all his life. But if I had a son,
would I let him play football? I have to honestly
say no, I don't think I would. Um, yeah, I
just don't think I would. There's just too much coming
out now about all the different debilitating things that can
happen over time. Um yeah, I just don't think I would.

(14:46):
I oh man, it's a you know, it's an I
love football. I played football too. I never I never
really had an injury of them being extremely sore. I
always gonna hurt playing hockey. Cool figure. Anyway, Um, would
I let my son? I said, I have too well,
so I'm not gonna have to deal with this issue.
But oh god, I hope not. I don't. I don't

(15:07):
have to worry. But my younger one, maybe she's a
little bull on a trying to shop be a good
running back. Uh, good to be a good punt return.
But anyway, my neighbor and I had because I had
this conversation with him because his son plays football. But
his son's big for his age and he's alignman. You know,
so that's sort of things. But I was, you know,
and he wants and he's a huge fan. He played
all his life as well. Uh, and he's a coach

(15:28):
so when he plays, so I understood his thinking there.
But I'm more leaning towards you man. I don't think
I could. I think as a parent, man, I don't
look to do that, not, you know, not with a
hitting at that earlier age. And a lot of doctors
believe you shouldn't be playing contact football until what really school,
and even then it's if because the brain is not
developed head craney whatever. So now I kind of believe that.

(15:49):
I think they're you know, I don't think they're over
overestimating the injury impact there. So I don't know if
i'd let my, uh my son play either, if I
had that decision to make. But it'd be tough because
I mean this, if your kid wants to play and
he said eight, Dad, can I play football? Dad? And
you want to play football? Mean, I don't know if
I keep telling him no, Jim, Yeah, it's tough. I

(16:09):
guarantee it would be tough. There's no doubt about it.
I would steer him a little bit more torge basketball
because those contracts are nicer either, but you know, I
would have to temper it by saying, hey, look, son,
you know you're never gonna get taller than six ft,
so you know, always think you're gonna be a point guard.
Brought That was an argument I had when on the show.
Would you rather be uh. You know, I guess if

(16:31):
you knew your son who's gonna play professional sports and
his basketball or baseball basketball. Yeah, in contracts are enormous,
but it's only what ten guys on a team. Yeah,
that's tough. Baseball. You got you got beat chance making
the team. And it's not have our complexion. This is
no one has my complexion. I'm I'm a ghost. I

(16:53):
scare small children. Man. Uh the son, we're just not
on speaking terms at all. I'm the same way, dude,
I've always been like that. I got Irish skin. It
burns like a mother. Oh yeah you And I was saying,
my mom, I'm three quarters Irish. Also, I burned into
a lamp. I got my lights off of my den
because I'll burn into those two when I opened up
the microwave door. I'm gonna be careful refrigerate. Okay, I'm

(17:14):
done with the jokes, but I burn, Okay, I do
like SPF seventy five. I just went to my den
with towenge as who told me you do not go
outside without protection. And she was dead serious, and get thanks,
like I didn't know that already. Yeah, but I was
protection going to help you against the sun. I might
help you not having another boy. You're wearing all that
you know, like naked gun. You wear the whole thing
protection and you're fine against this. We begetting fantasy update,

(17:36):
Fantasy Tash, Jim Daday and George Kurtz will be back
after That's gonna continue with a little bit of indianapois
be Cooice told about some other news here. I think
there was another major injury in the NFL last night
that it's caused the player the entire season, the window.
One thing about the Patriots, they will overcome it. They

(17:57):
overcome Edelman suspension, Brady suspension, Awski missing time, Josh Gordon
missing time last year and the rest of the season
due to injury. It doesn't matter. This team just rolls on.
It never matters. Challeng Jones gone, Richard Seymour back in
the day gone, and just keep turning over the roster.
The only constant is Belichick and Brady and Edlement to
bus from center. But they keep rowing. What's Live week

See website for details. Fifty quick Ball brand. See everybody
was sinking Dion Lewis was gonna be the go to
guy out of the gate because Henry the year before
really hadn't set himself apart. The good thing this year said,

(20:04):
nobody's looking at Lewis, and you can get him in
the eleventh or twelveth round in some drafts even later
than that. This is a guy who finished last year
as RB twenty seven. I don't think he falls too
far off of that, because if you can get him
in the twelfth round, I think he's a good pickup.
Watch Live week Days one didn't to him. He's the
m N T S Y YouTube channel. All right, welcome back,

(20:31):
we get Fantasy Update. He's Jim day Um Georgian Curtains.
We are the weekend Fantasy up. They do. I thought
I was Jim Day. You're George Kurtz. It's been I
didn't get the BEDI two three am, and I'm not
sure who I am right now. You coined whatever you like? Uh,
it was tany tan. I got home from the draft, Jim,
it's twelve, you know. And then I recorded the Yankee game,
so I had to watch the Inanche and recorded the

(20:52):
Cowboy game. Yeah, I am stupid like that. So I
watched the Cowboy game and then I got to do
it all the retects for the show and make sure
I'm caught up on everything. Uh, cowboys want aready for nothing?
Looked really good. Houston did not. And that I'll bring
us to our next topic here, all right, Uh boy
did a segue for myself. It means ito that worked
out well. Lamar Milla didn't play in any preseason games.

(21:14):
First carry last night, Tear's the a c L was official.
Uh it wasn't at first. Now I think it is.
I think they did confirm it. I'll check to make sure,
but that's what I was looking for. I was looking
for confirmation, but I haven't seen that yet. Let's let's
see here. Is it official here? Uh? That that that

(21:34):
Lamar mill or latest news, come on, come on on
the the it looks like it's still feared. So I
guess it's not official yet and it may not be official.
As someone who was torn is a c L. Uh,
it may take a day or two. Generally they can't.
I did that playing hockey, by the way, not football.

(21:58):
But like if anybody who plays sports, by the way,
you have a tear in your a c L. The
questions degree of tear because when I tore her mind,
I don't be honest with you, it hurt. But to tell,
even with my ankle hurt much more than my knee,
you didn't even thought about playing again, you know, I
thought if I told the a c L, I didn't
know what was to one mind you, but it hurt,
went down, went to the locker room. I could jog around.
Do you know how my skate were off? Like, oh,

(22:18):
I think I can play the next game. I had
back to back games. It was something in my head said, no,
don't do it. It's what you did, a bad injury.
And sure enough, yeah that suck. Uh, nothing worth jim
toward my a c O and my doctor. I had
the Islandist team doctor because I had a connection there
and he wasn't sure from the m R. I. He goes,
I'm not sure you will do exploratory surgery, which is
great and so, but he had permission. Obviously, I don't

(22:40):
want to be opened up twice that if it was torn,
to fix it. So I wake up from the anesthesia.
My first question to him is, uh, wasn't reconstruct him?
He goes, yes, I went back to bed. I knew
I was screwed. Uh, you know, instead of a month
of recovery time, I was down six to eight months.
So that blows. So. Yeah. So, assuming he did tear,
they say reports are that he did or likely did,

(23:04):
I guess my first question is, Duke Johnson, how far
up are you are? Is he going to be that
kind of back or is this role really not change
you all that much? At least at least not that
they get somebody in there. So, Duke Johnson, how far
you're moving him? Well, I'd already moved him up as
soon as he got traded to Uston. I moved him
up with tonge And just because I think he fists

(23:24):
his offense great, especially behind the bed offensive line. You
know Watson wants to get that ball out of his
hands as quick as it can and that's exactly what
Duke Johnson does. You can get him the ball anywhere
around the line in the scrimmage and he could turn
him into huge gaines. And you know, it was only
two years ago where this guy was a top twelve
running back in Fantasy PPR. I look for him to

(23:46):
get close to that again. Maybe not quite into the
top twelve, but he's still gonna do huge. Look, they
still need to find somebody else because he's not in
every down back. You don't want him touching the ball
two hundred fifty three hundred times a year. You know,
he's never done it before. I had to have concerns
with it. So don't be surprised if they're out there
looking for somebody else that can take over the that

(24:08):
early down on work. He will Duke Johnson will still
absolutely be heavily involved in this offense, but you don't
want him as a complete three down back. Get somebody
who can do that early down work and can do
goal line work and they'll be happy. So I'm sure
they're gonna be looking at final cuts for that or
you know maybe they right now they could be in

(24:29):
in contact with d Charges and talking about Gordon somebody
like that. Who knows. Um. They surprised everybody with the
Duke Johnson trade. Uh, nobody really saw that coming. And
you know, while I think that trade was excellent and
it was great for Duke Johnson as well, fantasy owners
had had him because before that news, I had still
drafted him a lot, hoping that he'd get traded, but

(24:50):
then that this was the perfect situation to me. I
love Duke Johnson now, so I have him. I think
I currently have him as my number uh twenty one
running back, but I think I could even move them
up from there. Well that's not I like you. I
agree with you on all points. By the way, I'm
a big Duke john Kisons guy as well. I think
I drafted him in the Frenzy League. I'm not sure they,

(25:13):
but I know I got him in one league I
wanted next night too, but he went to up before
I could get him. Uh, and we didn't know about
the Miller injury. By the way, it was fun telling
that owner about the injury too. All Right, you want
to see a look of just you know what you
know just shock. He's like, what, I just drafted him
like five minutes ago. Well, now you don't have him.
You know, I've done, I've done. I've done drafts already

(25:37):
and I literally had zero shares of Lamar Miller. I'm
with you there nowhere near nine one and maybe a
ten percent of what you do. But I don't have
any shares with Lamar Miller ready here. I wasn't drafting
him and I'm not a big believer at all. So
that's one that didn't hurt me. And I only had
luck in one league. Uh as far as that's concerned.
All right, So you hit on a lot of things

(25:57):
that I want to talk about. Well, I agree with
you about Duke. I'm not gonna hit. I think he's
you was a low end running back to before this,
you know, and now I think he moves up. I
don't think him quite top twelve on, not that it
wouldn't shock me, but I'm not gonna go that crazy.
But I think he's somebody want. Yeah, but that's what
that's what I say. I have him, you know, two,

(26:17):
somewhere in that range, but he still has upside to
move at that point, which makes me even feel better.
But I can't put him in the top twelve right now.
Now you mention something. Uh, you and I are on
the same wavelength too much here. I also believe that
they are probably gonna have to bring somebody else in.
Does that mean you don't believe in I mean the
fantasy purposes here, Buddy Howell, Josh Ferguson, uh, Maria Cross,

(26:41):
Taiwan Tone. I mean there's an old jack, right. Do
I believe in any of these guys? Uh? You know, no,
Now I don't think. I don't think the early down
back is on the team right now. I really don't.
You know, there was some early rumblings out of training

(27:03):
camp about Crockett, um, you know, playing well and stuff
like that, and maybe they give him the shot, But man,
I don't I don't know if i'd want to count
on him as my early down back right yet. Um,
you know, I don't know. They could surprise us and
decide to go with him. He's got that body size,
He's what I think five of elements who pounds, so

(27:26):
he's got some he to him. Uh. So you know
it could be they they decided to give this U
d f A a chance here would show it would
surprise me a little bit, But man, I still don't
know if I'd take a chance on him in fantasy. No,
I'm with you. I don't believe in anybody, any any
of the backs on that roster. I don't. I think
they're gonna have to bring in somebody from the outside,

(27:48):
all right, Well, because scenario one first, uh, cut down guy,
a free agent guy. I'm gonna bring up this name.
Uh And I sort of mentioned him before, somebody I
actually have in that deeply with talking about that's not
Lee on a team. J Ji could Ji help? I
absolutely think j j I could be could be a
help for them, and they get them cheap at this point.

(28:10):
And look, he is a decent early down back. He's
is a decent goal lineback. He would absolutely fit what
they're looking for. Again, he's not gonna get much outside
of that, but that's okay, that's you don't need that.
That's what you have Duke Johnson for. Uh. So, Yeah,
I think j j I would make it a great
addition for them. And I wouldn't be surprised if we
hear them saying they're bringing him made him camp tomorrow

(28:30):
for a trial, maybe even today. Yeah, j I uh,
he's he's also coming with toy a c L. He's
something a week five of last year. But he has
received full tments all right, and you'll see this FULK
clearance a month ago. So he's healthy and I'd be
surprised he's not been at least brought in. He's not
a long time solution, but for a guy for a year,
he's only twenty six. We know he's got the authritic

(28:51):
name of the the nee on knee condition there uh neon bone.
But he's I think I'd be surprising he's not colden. Now. Uh,
there could be somebody from cut down Day obviously the
Friday that could happen. We'll have to wait and see
for that. You put up the scenario. I've been mentioning
this for weeks. I know I mentioned with you and
Frenzy have certainly talking about what I mentioned on Twitter
last night. I think the Texans would almost be doing

(29:13):
themselves at disservice if you don't call the Los Angeles
Chargers and find out about Melvin Gordon. I don't know
if I'm a charge if I would trade Gordon to
a team at the threat in the a f C.
I don't know without getting a really good price back.
But I like what you said there. Uh So, I
guess my question to you is, do you think they'll
call let's go through. Do you think all the charges

(29:35):
will would entertain trading Gordon to Houston? I think they
would absolutely. At this point, I think they realize, well,
they know themselves, they're not going to back down. It's
just the organization that we know from past. They just
don't back down. So at this point they have to
be concerned that Gordon has got his heels dug in
so deep that he's gonna sit out a good portion

(29:57):
of the season. And you know, ultimately, if they're okay
with having him sit out a good portion of the
season with the guys they currently have, then why not
trade him and try and get something for him. They're
not gonna get anything from him if he only plays
four or five games this year and then it's gone,
So why not try and get something for him? Now
you know it's the price is gonna be a little

(30:18):
depressed because they know they have them a little bit
on the hold. But at the same time, Houston needs somebody.
Uh So, look, they have to be on the phone.
That's part of a GM job, no matter what, you've
gotta be testing the waters, see what the options are.
So they have to do that part um and you know,
as a charge of GM, you have to do the
same thing. You have to take calls see what people

(30:40):
are willing to offer for him. At this point, you
have no choice. That's that what does it entails? If
you're not doing that, then you're not doing your job
with you if you have no intention to trading, you
have to see if this was out there. Maybe you'll
make you know off for once again that you can't
refuse that sort of deal there. Uh now, I'm gonna
throw a name at you. I'm gonna turn this on you.

(31:01):
I'm gonna throw a knee you that we haven't heard
in a while that I think is another guy they
should absolutely be thinking about getting in and that's Orleans
darkwa Um. He missed the entire eighteen season because the injury,
but he's fully healthy now. He's tried out for a
couple of teams are already and hasn't really done much.

(31:23):
But this is a guy that you know, did pretty
well for the Giants in seventeen average four point four
yards that carry had seven fifty rushing yards, had five
rushing TVs. He can catch the ball, he had nineteen receptions, Um,
you know, and I just think that he's another guy
that they could get cheap, that could do that early
down work for them and open the door for Duke

(31:45):
Johnson to do the rest. So again, it you know,
it really depends on do they want to go out
and invest draft picks and a guy like Gordon, who
you know, has a lot of wear and tear, has
bum knees, you know, do you want to Because not
only are they going to have to give up a
pick to get him or something like that, they are
gonna have to give Gordon in a new long term
contract and it's gonna have to be big enough to

(32:06):
make Gordon happy. And I'll tell you the one thing
I haven't looked into here is I don't know if
they have the cap space to even bring him in.
So they may not have that option of going that high.
They should still make the call and see what happens,
but they may not have the option of going after
him in reality, and they may have to take one
of these lesser backs. My first thought would be JG I,

(32:28):
but I couldn't I couldn't fault them at all if
they could bring in Arleans Darka in. He looked like
a good viable back and you know, if he's anywhere
near back to fullies full strength at this point, he
could offer them a great early back that doesn't cost
them pretty much anything at this point. Well, they have

(32:48):
to bring in guys like this. I mean, I think
you're right they you have to bring him in. His
last probably was what Cleveland once again about a month
ago that we've uh that was reported, so we know
he's out there. He's clear. He had the achilles injury,
but he's clear, so he's healthy. They have to gain
guys like Doc have the main guys like a giant
whoever impresses you as soon you don't want to go
a trade route, that's how you have to go. You
don't have a choice here. Now you mentioned very interesting,

(33:11):
that is very important about their Chris Tallery Couch. I'm
looking up right now to see howich room they have
left according to Spotrack, Uh, we'll find out there. Um,
there are other names out that's Melvin Goring. I think
I'm interested because oh, they playing a cas space. By
the way, they can do it okay, yeah, whoever they want,

(33:32):
but then a part of that money. Also, how about
a name here? You know, jud Damian Clowney has to
be signed to, you know, and he could take up
a decent portion of that. So was that also the
play into this? And some people how about Clowney for Gordon?
You know, you have to go to trade draft picks.
I don't know if the Charges really need Clowney. They're
pretty stacked unto good or great player in the rotation.

(33:56):
I guess you can move it a defensive end or linebacker.
But it's uh, the interesting to problems, Uh to contract guys,
and I'm going problem guys, but they're too contract problems.
How about that? But uh, I mean Duke Johnson went
went for a fifth and I con that conditions to
a fourth, but we don't know what the condition is?
Was that what it was? I believe I think it
was contingent on playing time? All right? So what does Gordon? Course,

(34:22):
if you were Jim Day, you're a GM of a Charge,
is Jim all right? You I'm I'm a gim of Houston.
I give you a call now, you know, Houston, listen,
we gotta good team here. I could challenge you. You're
a good team too. We're both threats here are you?
You're not gonna gonna You're not gonna give me Gordon
for a fourth round pick, right, You're not? You can
I assume you're gonna want more than that. So what
do you want from me? What do you want from

(34:43):
the Houston to make this worth of you? Yes, you
have no plans on. You know you're not signing Gordon.
You know what's going on. And I tortually believe that
Gord's not going back until week eleven. You know that's happening. Here.
You can get this payroll off the books. Here, you
can get something from him. What do you how it is?
How low are you willing to go? Obviously want a
first round pick if you can get it, But how
long You're never gonna get a first round round pick.

(35:06):
You won't even get a second round pick for Gordon.
Um at best, absolutely best. The most you can be
looking for is a third round pick, and even that's
gonna be shoddy. Um. Look, there's other options they can
go for a Look, I'll throw another name at you
that could could or should be in the mix, and
that's Josh Adams For Philadelphia became a pretty much forgotten man. Yeah,

(35:30):
you know, he's pretty much a forgotten man now that
they have Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders. Um, so why not?
At that point you're talking about a guy in the
other conference. I don't know if they give him up
for free, but you know, you you, uh, you might
be able to get him for a fifth round pick.
And for me, you know what, if I can get

(35:50):
a player like that for a fifth round pick, on
the one side, I definitely do it. The one thing
we know is that too many fifth round picks go
want to do nothing in this league. The percentage is
really high. Uh. It's a very hit or miss round anyway.
So if I get a fifth form uh, you know.
On the other side, if I'm Philadelphia, I'd want a

(36:12):
little bit more. But if I'm used in I'd be
happy if I got him for a fifth bill though,
he goes, I wasn't kidding the philadel Eagles with one
of the teams I was going to bring up here
as as a team that the charge the Texas should
call Jordan Howard, Miles Sanders, Darren spros Corey Clement, Wendell
Small with Josh Adams, Wilson Scott, Danielle Pumphrey. Three of

(36:33):
those guys aren't making the team, right. But the only
one that would fit what Houston needs is Josh Adams.
And but he's one of the three. I think he's
getting cut. Howard Sanders, Proros Clement, they're not going anywhere.
It really comes down to small with her Adams, you
know who that fifth one. And even they may not
keep five running backs, it might come down to whichever
one can play on special teams, which I Adams doesn't

(36:54):
really do. So I think Adams maybe cut here. My
point is this, even if you don't want to wake
a Friday cut down, they would want to take the chance.
I would get that maybe someone else claims more for you.
You're not to be in a high claim water. I
don't think it's gonna quote your fifth. I think you
get it for a seventh, maybe making a conditional six
depending on playing time, that sort of thing. You know.
I think if you really think he's gonna be cut,

(37:14):
and I agree with you, but I'm not sure I
agree with what that he's gonna be cut. Um, I'm
not so sure he is. Either power goes down and
he's there, gonna need I think you can get him
a cheaper That's what I'm saying. That I don't think
a ut I got another team for Jim. That I
think Detection should give a call to you as well,
that I think has a little depth of running back
here and we'll talk about that. Uh oh, I want

That's where I always remember this song from. I don't
know why, that's where. He didn't hear this song until
the eighties. Uh yeah, probably your early eight He thinks
things like four. So yeah, damn, sorry, I don't you know.
It's funny grow growing up my Uh, by the way,
it's Weekend Fantasy to Day, Jim Day, George Kurtz. Growing up,

(41:31):
my father was a country music fan. My mom was
more what would they called country to Western I guess, so,
you know, it wasn't too much rock going on in
the house. But I got into rock probably late seventies,
around eighty. The MTV generation certainly helped as a big
MTV guy, So that's when I first started getting into it.
And uh, my favorite band is Genesis. Uh, I'm a

(41:54):
I'm a Floyd Who fan. If you called me on
my phone, I mean he calls me a phone, you'll
hear who are you? Is my ring tone? There makes sense.
Jim Day calls and here who are you? You know
who are you? Jim Day would hear no reply at
all by Genesis as far as I'm ring back usually
who can it be? Now? But Verizon doesn't work for
that song anymore. So I'm very depressed about that. Uh so, yeah,

(42:14):
that's that was me? H too much? And phone? Oh
you name? Uh? I have a lot more ring back.

(42:37):
to talk about Tony this morning. He was supposed to
be in that auction last night that didn't show up.
Like I couldn't get him on the phone. I couldn't,
he wouldn't answer text or emails. And then finally this
morning I get an email from him saying, oh, I'm sorry,
I didn't realize that was last night. Sorry, that is
frustrating you know that's funny. Uh. Who was I talking

(42:58):
to about this? I think it was on the show yesterday.
Have you ever played in a guillotine league. I love
guilotine links, not as much as I love vampire league.
The guillotine leagues, that sounds great. I've never played more
never played the vampire. THEAE that I would love to
play in one of those is I want to be
the vampire. Yeah. That that's the way to be in
that league. You want to be the vampire. You want

(43:20):
to be the vamp. Yeah. For those who know guilotine
league is, I'm sure there are different variations, but for
the most part, the seventeen team league lowest score each
week is bye bye. Yeah, you get the lowest score
in week one, you're done. You got guilotine, you got
chopped down, the sixteen team, so on, so on, so on. Yeah.
But the big kiicker there is the rest of that team.
That team gets thrown back into the waiver wire, so
all those players become available each and every week. So

(43:42):
that's the best part of it. How you manage a
van has got to be intriguing in that's kind of league. Yeah, right,
go that that's that sounds like so much fun. Vampire
League is great too, for the most part. Well, the
Vampire doesn't draft. Everything else drafts. He picks up all
the people at the waiver wire, and if he if,
if Jim days the vamp wire and he beats me,
he get you get to pick one player off my team,

(44:03):
any player I want off your team. I could take
your best running back and just say hey, thank you.
But you're right, yeah, they don't. They don't get to draft.
They get to pick their team when everybody else's draft
is done. They get to pick the leftovers, um and
then they are the only team throughout the year. They
get to use the waiver wire. So you know, it
has to be really smart and you know who you

(44:24):
grab it first, and then who are using the waiver wire.
It takes usually takes a couple of weeks to get
that first win, but once you start getting that first
win under your belt, the quicker you can get that
first win under your belt, you can really turn that
team around quick between the waivers and grabbing one player
from another team, and man by by week seven or eight,
usually that Vampire team could be quite strong. It just

(44:48):
sounds like so much fun. It just does. Uh, and
you know you have a gym player who plays in
all these leagues. I played a bunch of leagues. Uh,
just have something different like that. I think there's extremely intriguing.
Uh just a lot of fun. Uh, that's a lot
of fun here, all right. So we were talking about
what the Texans could do, and you know, Jim guessed
that I was gonna to our Philadelphia. You know, during

(45:09):
the commercial break, the producer Jeff out of nowhere pulls
out the Jets and that they were the next team
I was gonna talk about, Uh, Jets, I'm looking at
teeth that have a lot of running backs. But we're
not talking. They're not gonna trade Levion Bell. Someone brought
that up on Twitter. By the way, I don't remember
who that the Jets should trade Bill. I guess was
Adam Gaze. Not a big thing. He didn't really want
to sign Bell, right, I think he was should have

(45:31):
signed Bell, mind you. I was really disappointed they didn't
really get in on Bell with the over cap room
they had. But they're not doing that, all right. I
don't think Montgomery's going either. But you know the name
that someone brought up, this is someone put up during
the last night after we heard about this Powell Powell,
they have Cannon McGuire to they have an excess of
ourning backs there. I don't think they're going to release

(45:51):
any of those guys on like Philadelphia, who might have
to release somebody good. But Jim, once again, do you
see any of these, any of these three being a
fit for that Texans offense? Owl Cannon McGuire No, Um,
these are all more pass out catching backs, scat back types. Basically,
you know, Duke Johnson wannabees again, they need a pounder.
That's what they're looking they're gonna be looking for is

(46:14):
an early down, you know, goal line pounder because Duke
Johnson's gonna handle the rest. But they needed a pounder
and none of these guys fit that bill. Not that
they won't fit the bill for some other teams, but
right if I'm used in, these guys don't interest me
at all the show McCoy, same thing. Um at this

(46:36):
point his career. I mean, all they've been talking about
in camp is what he's doing out of the backfield
in the passing game, not about his rushing, and we
saw last year his rushing just doesn't seem to be
the same so no, he wouldn't intrigue me at all either.
I'm gonna find one here, damnit. How about Gus Edwards.

(46:56):
Gus Edwards would definitely be in the mix for me.
I you know, he definitely gives them, would give them
that early down pounder, that goal line back. He can
do that kind of stuff. I just don't know if
Baltimore is gonna want to give him up because I
think they realized that they have really good depth with him,
uh and without him, that that running back group gets,

(47:17):
you know, a lot, a lot less dense, and I
want to say at that point, So I think that's
an issue. I'm not sure they give them up unless
they get something better than what I think Houston would
want to give up. I mean, I was always surprised
they signed Ingram only because I thought Edwards, you know,
with Justice Hill, I can't tax in there as well.
I guess we can't take in this talk. Also, he's

(47:39):
not gonna get you intin of a return. I was
just surprised. I like Gus Edwards. I think he's a
service will running back. Yeah, he sure was. He was
serviceable last year, did what they needed. I agree with you.
I would have liked to seen. Uh. Ang, I'm gonna
go to another team. I like Ingram as a running back.
You can do a little bit of everything. Again, it's
more the effect of can he learned this RPO offense

(48:02):
and thriving it? And that's what concerns me. I'm not
sure he does Alfred Morris and then he could be
cut by the Cowboys if it win. Zeke signs that
really gets you excited. No, I'm I'm just looking at
guys that they could possibly Uh No, there's there's no one.
I think it's gonna get him excited, right, I mean

(48:24):
that that's not gonna happen. They just every team once
so looking for running backs out there here. You know,
I keep looking. I'm just going down with the team.
I'll throw another name out at you that wouldn't surprise
me if if you wanted to be happening, that's uh,
that's Adrian Peterson in Washington. He could easily do that
role for you, could give you more if you absolutely

(48:46):
need it. Uh. Last year, he's still got plenty in
the tank. Look, we're not talking about a long term
answer here, but they're not looking long term right now.
They're looking at somebody gets them through this season and
then they could re look at it, reinvest in next
year's draft, what what they have to do. But Peterson
would fill that bill, whether or not Washington would give
up Peterson with all the stepbacks guys has had. Now,

(49:07):
guys looked pretty good this week he moved well, um,
you know, and that's the first good, really good sign
we've seen from him. But you know, look, he's had
setbacks already through this, so you know it's hard to say, oh,
he won't have another. And if he does another and
they let go of Peterson, they literally have nothing there.

(49:28):
I like that, actually, uh mayf it. Washington also drafted Love,
so they've got some some depth there behind uh buying guys.
That's actually uh, that's not bad. That's not bad. I
just wonder once again, the probably a lot of these
probably these trades and these players were mentioning besides good
and I think we'll go for highness, is that they
already gone giving up that fifth that turned into the fourth.

(49:49):
That means nothing. The next trade complicated, right, You pretty
much can't give up a fourth. You and I both
assume that John's is gonna hit that playing time quota,
So that's your fourth. Is a fifth good enough to
get any these guys and if you want to do
another condition he much have to do a sixth. That
turns into good luck with that, you know, And we
took the values a little less there, But I do
like that Doug Martin anything here, that's sure. But there's

(50:12):
no way Oakland let's stud up go at this point.
He look he filled in nicely last year, uh, when
Winch went down, and he did a good job for
them over the second half of the season. So you know,
with the rookie, they're being in place. And you know,
while he was the love of everybody early on in camp,
that shine has come off a little bit in recent weeks.

(50:32):
And you know, the talk is, you know he's looking okay,
and you know, uh, maybe he's the three down back.
We're not sure. So I don't think they give up
Doug Martin at all. But I will throw another name
at you that could very easily become part of I
think I know where you're going. I think I know
where you're going there, and I'm gonna go with Carlos Hide.

(50:53):
Oh no where Okay. There there's a lot of people
around that organization beat writers. Everybody asked to Yeah that
that are talking about Carlos Side is probably gonna be cut. Uh.
They want to go with the three younger backs, and
you know, they feel that they have plenty of depth there.
They play the struck there and Carlos Hide has done
nothing to separate himself in any way, shape or form

(51:16):
throughout camp. So you know, Carlos Hide is somebody that
you know, they could probably get for a seventh round
pick at this point and take the shot on him. Look,
I think he'd still be serviceable. Again, we're not talking
about a guy that we want to be a three
down back. He's gonna get one, you know, one two
did first and second down, and then he'll get some
goal line work and cann't sit. But you know Duke

(51:37):
Johnson is going to pick up most of the rest
of that work. So you know, Carloros Hide would fit
that bill and and cost them next to nothing. I
like that, I said, I agree. I think the seventh
round pick. Uh, if you had the guts and wanted
to wait, he might even get be cut on Friday,
I didn't play the first couple of series yesterday. Uh,
the right is pretty much on the wall there the hide.
I'm sure now you know they pay the game. Well,

(52:00):
now we know he needs somebody, maybe we won't cut
him that sort of thing. Uh the team I was
going to bring up, how about San Francisco right? Uh,
you know he signed Coleman sort of made mckinnondal lecture
there most dit Uh they both had some injury issues.
I don't think it trade Brita. Wilson's there as well.
Any chance they never let McKinnon play for them, Uh, No,

(52:24):
no chance they They invested too much in him. Uh
it is gonna be I think a piece of a
three headed monster. But yeah, I don't I don't think
that happens. I don't think. I don't see that as
being the case. And again, you know, if anything Brita
would fit what Euston needs, McKinnon doesn't. He's not in

(52:44):
early round dump dumper either. He's a past catching back.
But there's no way they give up Brita. Brita has
been having a better camp than Tevin Coleman. He had
a better preseason three game than Tevin Coleman. Um, he
has just looked better and I think he's a better
running back all around. I've been grabbing Brida wherever I can. Heck,

(53:05):
I did a report for Sports Illustrated and said, don't
sleep on Matt Breeda. Um, you know, because everybody was
just pushing him way down draft boards. Everybody's grabbing Tevin
called Coleman. Breeda is good to me, is the one
who's going to be the best running back in his
group by years sending. I have a lot invested in him.
I like Breeder as well. I don't like Coleman by

(53:26):
the way. I mean, you look at George Percarry from
last year. It was actually pretty good, but I had
Coleman on a leak or two, and I expected much
more when Freeman went down, And I remember, I remember
being angry a couple of times during the OS. You
kid me all you go, You're you're giving me for
a past happy office when no one's playing for the
role to stop the run and you were doing nothing.
He had a couple of big games, but consistency was

(53:48):
out the door here. You know, maybe he does something
with shan Hann and san Fran, but I have my
doubts there as well. I'm I'm a Breeder believer as well.
I don't think there's I don't think there's any way
they would trade him. I think we need to be
McKinnon maybe most or something like that. That's the way,
just to names out there seeing what Houston could do.
It's a it's a fun little game, all right. It's
a fun little game. Lamar Miller. Uh. It hasn't been
completely confirmed genial though I know I saw many reports.

(54:09):
They pretty pretty much know the A C L is torn. Uh.
Not good from Lamar Uh. He said he didn't have
first carrier the game in the Cowboy game, and he
got the knee right on the helmet right on the
new game, and Jim I exa on the Cowboy fens.
When I watched again a least I watched the first half,
second half, I saw the lost interest. Uh. That offensive

(54:29):
line for Houston, no matter who the running I get
back is that offence was putrid last night. Now, maybe
they were already down. You know, we lost Mill. They
weren't really wearing. The game was the first home game
in Texas whatever Jenny Jones calls that place. Uh, but
generally dallasesn't have a huge home field advantage anyway. Now
Dallas calls it every good defense Yeah, he calls it
whatever he wants to call it. Um Dallas. The does

(54:51):
have a very good defense, but Jim, they was like
they were living in the backfield, I mean Watson. That
they got Watson out real quick because he was taking
hits in the first Series two and they want him
taking anymore. That offensive line was putrid last night? How
much How worried are we about this? Oh? Absolutely worried.
Not only that, but they lost their starting right guard,
Zach Hofulton last night as well. UH went down and

(55:12):
had to be carted off the field. We learned later
that it's a bad case of turf toe, and heck,
we've learned we've seen turf toe take a long time
to get back from UH in this league, so that
that's definitely concerning. He was probably one of their better
offensive lineman, so that sucks. They already have Titus Howard,
one of the right tackles, having an injury with that

(55:34):
broken finger that he broken in Week two of the preseason.
So yeah, they definitely had some issues. I'm not gonna
be surprised at all if this is a team that's
out there on the hunt also for some more offensive
line depths, because they well they got a lot of guys.
They don't have a lot of good guys. Yeah, you know,
we imagined all these trades, uh for Houston Texans. Doesn't

(55:56):
somebody have to call Washington. I'll sure if people are
calling Washington, Washington's holding off. They want to want they
want to Look, the word came out in New England.
They offered the first Washington said no, and then then
that was that was debunked that they didn't make that offer.
But you know, usually when something like that comes out,

(56:17):
something's happening. Um, you know, some of that is based
on truth somewhere along the line. Whether or not they
offered a one and got rejected, who knows. It could
have quite possibly happened. But yeah, there's gotta be teams
calling Washington every day trying to make something happen here,
and Washington knows it. Look, Trent Williams has come out
and said he's absolutely not gonna play for Washington ever again,

(56:39):
and he doesn't care if he doesn't play. He's not
going to be on that team. So they at this
point they have no option but to try and trade him.
But the need is huge out there and I think
they're waiting a little bit longer to see who else
gets hurt that they need, you know, will absolutely need
a replacement. Um. You know, look at this point, you

(57:00):
know Washington should trade Trent Williams to Washington because otherwise
they gotta start Eric Flowers. I love that as a
Giants fan they get to start Eric Flowers. If I
was a Giant's defensive lineman, I'd be laughing all the
way to the bank. Sure, rock, the Eagles are laughing
to the bank. Cowboys laughing to the bank as well,
and then they'll get to go up against this guy.

(57:22):
I have a hard time bleeding. By the way, if
thee over for the one walk and turned it down,
you gotta take that deal. Man. We're gonna keep talking
about this why Trent Williams might end up well where
he could help or not help. We get Fantasy update
Jen Day, George Kurtz. We are back from the final
