Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ezekiel, chapter thirty three, beginning in verse seven. So you, o,
son of Man, I have set you a watchman unto
the house of Israel. Therefore you shall hear the word
at my mouth and warn them from me. When I
say to the wicked, O, wicked man, you shall surely
die if you do not speak to warn the wicked

(00:22):
from his way. That wicked man shall die in his iniquity.
But his blood will I require at your hand. Let's
pray together, Father in heaven. We want to be faithful
watchmen on the wall. We want to do what you say,
to sound the alarm, to have our eyes wide open,
to be alert, to be like the sons of Issachar,

(00:44):
to know the times and what Israel should do, what
we should do today. And Lord, we want to be
very sensitive to the dangers all around us, the spiritual dangers,
and to sound the alarm to let people know that
there are wolves in sheep's clothing, to let people know
that there are false doctrines and things coming to destroy.
So Lord, help us to be faithful, Help us to

(01:06):
have soft and tender hearts, Help us to have ears,
to hear in a heart, to do your will. And
Lord may we be found as faithful watchman until you
come again. Before you pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Hi friends, Welcome to this episode of the Weekly Wisdom
podcast from Prey dot Com. I'm Pastor Jeff Shreeve, the
pastor of First Baptist Church in Texas, Cana, Texas, and
the founder of From His Heart Ministries. Ezekiel chapter three,
verse seventeen tells us this, son of Man, I have
made thee a watchman onto the house of Israel. Hear

(03:00):
the word at my mouth and give them warning from me. Hey,
as believers were called to be watchmen on the wall,
spiritually ready and vigilant, to be His witnesses, and to
speak the truth in love to a lost and dying world. Now,
in Isaiah six, we see how Isaiah responded to God's call.

(03:23):
The Lord says, whom shall I send? And who will
go for us? And he said, here I am send me.
I'm willing, Lord, I'm ready. I want to do your will.
Are we also ready to respond to God's call like Isaiah?
Or do we respond like Moses? Moses in Exodus three
and four he didn't want to do what God called

(03:45):
him to do. He said, Lord, send your message by
someone else. Hey, when we're spiritually ready, it means that
we're right with God. We're walking in the light. We're
dealing with any known sin in our lives. You know,
Sin is that thing that blinds our eyes and hardens
our hearts, makes it difficult for us to see and
hear from God. We can't be effective watchmen on the

(04:08):
wall if we're living in sin, because sin is going
to hinder our ability to discern what God is saying
to us. Now, when we're vigilant, it means that we're
alert and a tentive keeping careful watch at all times.
That's what the watchman on the wall would do. He's
a guard on the wall. He's watching for the enemy

(04:29):
to come, and he's sounding the alarm when there is danger.
And just like that watchman on the wall, we can't
afford to fall asleep at the wheel, so to speak.
We can't let the devil lull us into a place
of spiritual lethargy. We need to be spiritually alert, We
need to be focused so that we can do our

(04:49):
job as a faithful watchman on the wall. In Revelation
chapter three, Jesus had a message for the church in Sardis.
He told them, wake up, you've fallen asleep in the light.
We need to heed this call. We need to be awake,
We need to be alert, and we need to be
ready for whatever God has in store for us. And

(05:12):
so on one thirty nine. David has a beautiful prayer.
It's a prayer that all of us need to pray
on a regular basis. Search me, O, God, and know
my heart, Try me and know my thoughts, and see
if there be any wicked way in me, and lead
me in the way everlasting. Hey, when you pray that prayer,

(05:33):
you're making sure that no sin is fowling and festering
in your life. You're dealing with sin and you're walking
in the light with Jesus. Now as a watchman on
the wall, we need both spiritual and physical vision. We
need to be able to see what is happening in
the spiritual realm as well as in the physical world.

(05:55):
This requires us to be in tune with the Holy Spirit,
to listen to his voice, follow his leading, and to
pay attention to what is going on around us, like
the sons of Issachar who understood the times and what
Israel should do. And finally, we need to be willing
and obedient to God's call. Just as Isaiah was, we

(06:18):
need to say, as he did, here, I am Lord,
send me. I will follow you wherever you lead me. Now,
that requires faith, it requires courage, and it requires trust
in God's wonderful plan for our lives. So in conclusion,
being a watchman on the wall is a high and

(06:39):
important calling, one that we dare not take lightly or
put on the back burner for later. Pray with me,
Heavenly Father, we asked that you would search our hearts,
that you would know our thoughts. We asked that you
would reveal any hurtful ways in us and lead us
in the everlasting way. Lord. We want to be ready.

(07:00):
We want to be vigilant. We want to respond to
the call to be watchmen on the wall. We want
to say, with Isaiah, here I am Lord, sin me
help us to walk in the light as you yourself are,
and the light and keep us from letting sin find
its place in our hearts so it can foul in fester. Lord,

(07:23):
we ask you to wake us up and to keep
us alert and vigilant, so that we would be the
witnesses you want us to be. And we pray this
all in the matchless name of Jesus. You've been listening
to Pastor Jeff Shree, the pastor of First Baptist Church
in Texas, Canada, Texas and the founder from his Heart Ministries.

(07:44):
May the Lord bless you and keep you, and make
his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you
and grant you peace.
