Speaker 1 (00:00):

I mean when I was younger.

Speaker 2 (00:03):

Speaker 3 (00:04):
Lord have mercy, it.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Wasn't I'm not gonna say that.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
Next question, how do you expect me to be your
peace when all these hoes get a piece of you? Like?

Speaker 3 (00:12):
How you see?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
This is why I'm crazy.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
This is why I'm crushing out.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
This is why I'm crashing.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
Yeah, what's up guys?

Speaker 2 (00:19):
It's Akia. My new single FAFO is out. Now, what's up, Nihila?
We need to talk?

Speaker 3 (00:25):

Now?

Speaker 4 (00:26):
It's small on here with another episode that we need
to talk. And today I got a very special guest
in the building. Akia is here.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
How are you hello? I'm good. How are you man?

Speaker 3 (00:34):
I'm great. I'm excited to finally get to meet you.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
When I shout at you out on Breakfast Club, so
many people texted me and was like, what's her name?

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Who's that girl?

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (00:44):
And I'm like, yamn, And that was off a thirty
second clip. So it's nice to finally meet you.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
It's nice to meet you too, and I appreciate you
for you know, shouting.

Speaker 4 (00:53):
Me out of course, of course, of course, I'm just
a fan of talent and your voice is crazy. Are
you like vocally trained or like, did you grow up
in the church with your So?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I grew up in the church, Okay, my mama she
used to make me go to church every Sunday.

Speaker 3 (01:08):
So pantyhose? Did your mam make you wear pantyholes?

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Oh no, I ain't know.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Oh my mom be doing that. I want to go,
but I don't want to wear this, Like why do
I have to be?

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Okay? No?

Speaker 1 (01:20):
But yeah, So I started off in church, and then
I was in school choir okay, and then I just
used to do like talent shows and stuff like that
in school and now vocal train, Like I go to
vocal training like every maybe Tuesday or Thursday fire.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
How do you like it?

Speaker 1 (01:40):
It?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Is it much of a difference or.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
I mean I learned how to control more, like I
learned how to do stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Okay. So did the falling in love with music? Did
it start in the church?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:55):
No, where did it start?

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Don't do that.

Speaker 1 (01:59):
I love the little but it was just my mom
when she just used to make me go to church
every Sunday and sing every Sunday. Yeah, And I just
I was always shy, like it was forced.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
It was forced.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I ain't like.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I didn't want to sing at first.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Because I was shy, but like and then like funerals,
I had to sing at all the funerals. I'm like, bro,
I don't want to sing, but then I just grew
to live it, like when I got older.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, stop being so shy.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
What's your son?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I'm a Burgo?

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Mm yeah, okay, I don't see shy on your cards.
That's why I'm so confused.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
I just don't like. I don't like talking to people.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
That's what that is.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
I just don't, but I do it would I have to? Okay, Okay,
they're burgo is sure or this is a thing.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
I want to say it to you think honestly, But
I don't know the Burgos. I know if you chatting,
maybe not chatty patties, but they talk.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
But I'm comfortable I talk, okay. But other than that,
I'm just.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
So.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
You grew up in Arkansas and then your mom's forcing
you into church. So what was it that you like
gravitated towards in music growing up?

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Well, my granny she was a DJ, so she used
to always have these mixes that she would play and
I would find songs in the mixes that I would like,
like like Mariah Carey Fantasy.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Avunt Separated.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
So I just, I just I think I just grew
up around music, like old school music, and then I
just found my own type of music that I like.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Okay, now that makes sense.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
So what made the jump from Arkansas to LA? Or
was there something in between Arkansas?

Speaker 1 (03:53):
And so it was Arkansas. Since I'm from a city
that don't have like studios and stuff, I had to
go to Memphis, which is like an hour away. So
I started going to Memphis doing music there, making friends
and connections there, and then I went to LA for
the first time, did some some work out there, came
back to Arkansas, and then I was in Arkansas, and

(04:15):
then I moved to Atlanta, Okay, and then I just
be traveling more.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Love that for you.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Thank Arkansas to Memphis. So that's y'all closest city. That's
the city that you guys go to. But Memphis doesn't
even have a really big like R and B scene,
Yeah they don't.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
But as far as like just music, that's where I
had to go. I mean, I could have went to
Little Rock, but it was further, like Memphis is the
closest thing to me, got it?

Speaker 4 (04:43):
So being in all these cities, La, Atlanta, even Memphis,
they all have very different musical styles, you know, like
different flavors and stuff like that. So I guess it
was there like a city in particular where it like
hit you like, ah, this is me, Like where do
you I feel like you found yourself or have you?

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Would you say?

Speaker 2 (05:03):
No, I think I found my little swag.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
I think the first time I went to Miami, like
least not Miami.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I was not infecting Miami.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
No, it's because I really haven't seen anything yet. I
haven't traveled for real.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
OK.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
That was just like, oh, I could do this.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
So then I went to LA and then I was like, oh,
so I think it's like when I like travel more.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
It brings something out of me, like something new that
I didn't know that I could do.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
I love it because of what their their culture is
and like their style of music. And then I put
my voice on their style of music, were like how
they know see? And I guess I just like, damn,
I could do this now, so there's no limit to it.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
I love that.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
So have you been trying new sounds, new producers, new approaches,
Like I.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Worked with some Latin song writers and producers and then
I worked with.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Who else?

Speaker 1 (06:08):
I I worked with some Jamaican producers and I was like, okay,
we can we can.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Go all the way, Like, yeah, there's no limit. I
can't be put in a box.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
I love that for you.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
How'd your mom feel about you, you know, now being
more in the lines, like you see whatever.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
She's like, yeah, but she she proud of me.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
She getting to see new things too.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
So were just so closed in one small city, like
we don't see nothing but traveling.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
She got on her first flight this week.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
So it's just like any culture shocks you have experienced
so far that you're like still mind blown about.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
No, not yet, No, Okay.

Speaker 4 (06:49):
Sometimes even the lingo be trippy to me, Like you said,
what like Chicago people saying pop, Like I feel like
you're purposely they say pop instead of soda.

Speaker 2 (06:57):
We we be saying, mama, can I get a pop?

Speaker 3 (06:59):
No in Arkansas? No? What's wrong with y'all?

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Drank some water?

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (07:09):
So talk to me about just finding your voice as
an artist. Because the single that I got introduced to
you to is a soft Girl era.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
So I like, how you like just.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Setting the tone for where you're at right now in life?

Speaker 3 (07:23):
How did you get there?

Speaker 1 (07:25):
So Soft Girl era was like, let me see, somebody
pieced me off? They dad, I don't know who may
be mad, who hurt my feelings or whatever the case was.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
So I sometimes I journal.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
And not like I'm not a I'm not a poem writer,
like I don't just write poems. But I fucked around
and wrote a poem to day and it was like
Soft Grade era.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
They pissed you up so much you wrote a poem.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Man, I had to calm down.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
The best thing for me to do was to write
in their journal before I go off. But so I
did a poem and then I was like, huh this
kind of this kind of I like this. So I
went to the studio. I worked through like Needles and Direaux,
just like a producer or writer that I worked with often.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
So we was in the studio.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
I was like, I got this concept soft girl era
or whatever, and it was like, look, we can make
some manything.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
We just made it. And I feel like.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
What I meant when I said soft Girl era is
like it's okay to be vulnerable, like everybody always tough
and like I always got a garden, like I be
having my garden. But I'm just saying, like I feel
like it's okay to be vulnerable, it's okay to not
be okay, it's okay to bring out the feminine energy.

(08:47):
So that was my whole goal. That was my whole
goal to like bring that message out being.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Soft express it ain't nothing wrong with it.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Have you noticed like a different in how like you
date or like how men treat you, setting like that
boundary of like this is where I'm at.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Yeah, yeah, really good for you.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
I'll be trying to put my foot down sometimes set
those boundaries as you should.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Whatnot?

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Okay, so you've been releasing singles, but.

Speaker 2 (09:19):
Are we kind of project? You definitely getting a project soon?

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Okay? Is it four or twenty twenty five?

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Twenty five? Okay?

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Sorry, I can be greedy and we have a concept yet.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yes, it's called dumb, crazy stupid mmm. So it's kind
of like some crash out music. Like sometimes y'all, nigga,
have you fucked up?

Speaker 2 (09:42):
You're right?

Speaker 1 (09:42):
Sometimes yes, and then sometimes a nigga girl has them
fucked up. I feel like my music is like UNI six,
like a woman could relate, a men could relate. So
it's just like I'm going through all these crazy and
it's dumb and it's stupid shit like now I just
want to be So that's where south I went through
all this to get here.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
Oh so we're gonna find out the You're gonna find
out what tells that to it?

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (10:10):
Is it from like a long relationship you are in
or just from like.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
No, it's just like different situations, different different real life
situations that I brought to life in the music because
I'm a cry baby, Like I wear my emotions on
my sleep, So like when I do music, I feel
like that's when I express so like I be talking
about ship that people don't want to talk about, but
it be real, so like it's dumb shit, but it's real,

(10:34):
Like y'all been dumb.

Speaker 3 (10:35):
Y'all have done some dumb shit we have.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Yeah, yeah, let me not ponder on that too much.
But okay, so what with this introduction project? What is
it that you want people to take away to expressions?
It's okay to it's okay to be crazy times, it's
okay to.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
Be crazy, Like we we're human, okay, Like it's okay
to not be okay. Sometimes it's okay to want to
fuck that me in up, It's okay. But in the
end we just gonna be soft and we're not gonna
do all it love that no more?

Speaker 3 (11:12):
Yeah, dang man? So who is is a key? Is
still wild? Crazy? Dumb? Sometimes? Or is it? Yes?

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Definitely fucked up in here sometimes okay? But or do
you want to be soft? Sometimes? Damn?

Speaker 3 (11:29):
We deserve better. We deserve to be I just feel
like we're not.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
We're just not really giving that, yeah comfortability to do it?

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (11:38):
See what I say to my song?

Speaker 1 (11:39):
How you expect me to be your piece? When all
these holes get a piece of you?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Like?

Speaker 2 (11:43):
How you see? This is why I'm crazy. This is
why I'm crushing out. This is why I'm crashing.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Yeah, no, I feel it. That's totally feel it?

Speaker 2 (11:52):
All right?

Speaker 4 (11:53):
Well, on the show, we play a game called Questions
that Need Answers.

Speaker 3 (11:56):
All you have to do is feel in the blank.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 3 (11:59):
The older I get at the last.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
I give Okay, I.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
Ain't nothing wrong with that. Sometimes I look back at
my life and.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
I realize how much dumb shit I really be on sometimes.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
Still Sometimes.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
If if you met your eighteen year old self and
you're allowed to say three words, what would you say?

Speaker 2 (12:27):
You got this?

Speaker 4 (12:28):
M Okay? Sometimes I look back at my life and.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
I'd be like, damn, I came from this now I'm here.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
My personality trait is I'm goofy Okay, Okay. From time
to time it's good too.

Speaker 2 (12:50):
It's good to have a drink or too. Do you
start laughing?

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Yeah? Why are you laughing at that?

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (13:00):
You'd be drinking sometimes, Okay, the tequila.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Okay, not the tequila girl. Huh?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
A little lemon drop? Okay, I do love a limon.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
But why they laugh?

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Though?

Speaker 3 (13:11):
You must have just you must have just you must
have had a night.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
No.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
I think they just laughing at me because I'm really
just being myself okay, And they didn't expect me to say.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
That, like she's got that trup. I respect it, okay,
And let me see.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Oh, you will never believe me if I told you.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
You will never believe me if I told you I've
never been on a beach until like August.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Damn?

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Did you like it? Oh?

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Yeah, I had a great time?

Speaker 3 (13:41):
You did? Are you a beach person.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Now, yeah, I want to go back, like sometime next
week or something.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
I don't I've never been to Arkansas, but I'm assuming
no beaches. No, no, not okay.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Now we sh you mean soprise like New York got
a beach. I'm never going, but I hear they got
a beach real.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Yeah. I don't recommend either.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Oh I'm not going.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
I don't think the beach is supposed to be in
the wood.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
It just don't feel right, all right, it don't okay.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
And what's my other question? Not game related, but just
music related. Oh yeah, so we just like to know,
like what's on your playlist? What song would you say
as a certified sleeper, it's your go to it picks
you up.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
No.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
One of my favorite songs is like Brandy, when you
Touch Me, that's my ship.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
I be in a yeah, go ahead, get it in there,
like singing the fuck out of.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
That song to your heart. Okay, that's a good one. Brandy.
Can't go wrong with Brandy.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
And then like Tamar Braxton all the way home, Oh
my god, I'd be in a car like beating the
steering wheel, singing.

Speaker 4 (14:59):
And song like yeah, Tamar gets you in your bag.
You know what that actually you saying that song actually
explains a lot, like about about your artistry, about like
you in relationships.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
You said that made a lot of sense. Is crazy? Yeah,
I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
In her song, oh my man, Yeah you know that song,
she was saying how basically she can't believe.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
That her friend took her man like she had her
she had her around her kids.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
Oh lord, and you felt with them.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
No, no, no, no, no, I just I just like this song.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Okay, I know that my.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Friend and now one of my friends took my man period.
I mean, when I was younger.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
I'm not gonna say that, Lord, have mercy, it wasn't
I'm not gonna say it.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
It wasn't in your man. It wasn't in your man,
it wasn't in your friend.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
All right, right, next question?

Speaker 3 (16:01):
All right, all right, shout out your grandma. Everybody know
where they can follow and tap them?

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Well, y'all, I'm a Kia, y'all, goss can go follow me, y'all.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Gus damn y'all guys. Y'all guys can go follow me?
And who is a Kia on Instagram?

Speaker 1 (16:20):
And that's literally all my platforms, So that's who I is,
a k I.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
A period until next time, guys, talk to please. What
is like the Kia Starter Kit, Like if you just
discover my music with's three records, people should know body you.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
Damn.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Everything that's on there, everything that I would want them
to know.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Me is on the project.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
Project.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Okay, okay, just wait, guys, just give me a few moments.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
