Speaker 1 (00:11):
Good morning, peeps, and welcome to ok F Daily with
me your Girl daniel Moody recording from the Home Bunker.
You know, folks, this week, I feel like we are
just spiraling out of control, Like as a country, as
a world, I really do feel like most of us
(00:36):
are hanging on for dear life. I talked about this
on The Danielle Moody Show one of the episodes that
I entitled The United States of Dystopia, And it's this
feeling that everything that we've been told, right, like, think
about the things that you've been taught since you were
(00:56):
in grade school, you know, to be kind, to be empathetic,
like you know, right versus wrong, you know, setting a
moral compass, like all of these things, sharing right, Like
all of these things are principles that were to lead
us to educate us on being kind, good humans. And
(01:21):
what we see is that like that was all just
one big fucking gag because it is the greedy, the vile,
the monstrous, the hateful that succeed. Whether you were looking
at the murder of the CEO of United Healthcare and
(01:42):
the fact that this man was in the midst of
insider trading that had his claim to fame as a
great CEO is having denied tens of millions of people
healthcare coverage when they needed it so that he could
pocket the money as well as his shareholders. That these
are people that don't stock again to enrich themselves off
(02:03):
of the despair of other people. But he's at the
top of the pyramid. You look at Elon Musk, whose
fortune is like teetering on, you know, being into the
trillions of dollars, and he's being labeled as a genius
because of his amassed wealth and not a greedy son
of a bitch right, who hates people, who hates freedom
(02:24):
of speech, who hates trans people, but he is celebrated.
You look at Donald Trump, who has been named to
be the Person of the Year by Time magazine, which
we know is not necessarily an award, but it is
recognition again of the vileness that has ushered him into
office yet again. And you know, when you sit and
(02:46):
you look, it's just like, why are we teaching young
people to be decent? Why are we teaching them to
be kind? And as a matter of fact, the words
that come out of our mouth are very contrary to
the actions that are taken by those around them that
they see and they see, notably what success is supposed
to look like. You know, I was at an event
the other day, and this is how folks. I also
(03:08):
know that like, I am old right because I believe
in those virtues of like empathy and kindness, of like,
you know, engaging in things like conversation that leave you
feeling nourished and recognizing like that's just not where we are.
I went to this event where you know, I honestly
(03:29):
I was surrounded by like twenty somethings. And this is
not like an admonishment on the younger generation, It's just
an observation where you know, I remember going to you know,
company events, networking events, you know, congressional receptions, et cetera,
et cetera, when I was in my twenties, and the
whole point, right was to network, right, was to connect,
(03:55):
broaden out your network, which would then help you right
moving forward in in your career. And I go to
this event for a you know, an online magazine, and
there was no conversation that was being had between people
except for the people that you came with. There was
(04:15):
just a parade of folks with their phones and selfie
lighting and creating content just in every corner as individuals,
not as like a collective, right, And again there was
no there wasn't even any necessarily any branding that was
out that would tell you who this event was being
(04:36):
thrown by, or like why you should care about it.
It was just happened to be in an instagrammable restaurant
and that's all that people were doing, not talking to
each other. So there was like why are you even here?
You know? And that's kind of where like I know
that that's just it's like why are you even here?
(04:58):
It's not to connect with other people. It's not to
engage with people. It's to engage with like, you know,
these imaginary followers that you'll never actually meet in real life.
Most likely, it's to show people how great and how
cool and how slicky you are. Look at where I am,
and all of it is just like one big fucking illusion.
(05:19):
And so like I found myself sitting there and I'm
just looking around, and I you know, and I was
a marker for me of a moment when you realize that,
like you're old, right, because like I care about conversation,
I care about the content that people are putting out
and folks are ingesting and like that was not the thing,
(05:40):
that was not the vibe. You know, I care about
who we highlight, who we put a spotlight on as
like you know, the person of the year or like,
and again it has nothing to do with what good
people are doing, because good is not actually celebrated in
this country or rewarded. It's those that have like that
(06:04):
are so self serving, so self involved, so fucking greedy.
Those are the ones that get the most followers. Those
are the ones that get elected. It isn't about like
who is doing good and how to model that, And
I just I honestly, it had me just really thinking
this week about what kind of society we will live
(06:27):
in moving forward. And I do think that it is
not going to be community based at all. I do
think that it is going to be every person for themselves,
a dog eat dog type of dystopia where we could
give a shit less about who lives next door and
down the street and how we can be of service
(06:48):
and of help like that being of service right is
going to be something that goes extinct. And I just
think that we're going to experience just this hardening of
our spirit, of our hearts of our connection, because what
we see being rewarded are people that do the exact
(07:10):
and total opposite of the lessons that we were taught
in elementary school. So it's like, you know, whether or
not you're directing kids to model themselves after Donald Trump
and Elon Musk and others, you know, by virtue of
who is celebrated and the fact that we adore like
(07:32):
just you know, the adoration for wealth. I mean, we're
just so we're bankrupt everywhere else. I don't know what
the answer is. I don't know how to bring us
back to a place where kindness and empathy and generosity
is celebrated. The fact is is that I don't think
(07:55):
that we're ever going to get back to that place right,
and I think that that is where I find myself struggling.
Is the way to combat the onslaught of hatred, vitriol, harshness.
The only way to combat that is going to be
(08:15):
through collective love, joy, empathy, and community building. Because the
way that fascism and authoritarianism takes hold is by pitting
people against each other, is by creating this false sense
of scarcity, is by having neighbor turn against neighbor. But
(08:36):
if you see now through the environment, through like the
lens of like extreme capitalism, where you know, as was
said with the movie Wall Street back in the eighties
Gordon Gecko, greed is good. Not only is greed good
right as seen in this country, but it is elevated right.
(08:58):
It is made to be the model that we should
all aspire to. And so, knowing this, and people continue
to ask me, Danielle, then what do we do? What
do we do? And I'm like, you got to start locally.
You have to, you know, define for yourself, for your family,
(09:20):
for your friends, Like really, what is what is your
moral compass? What connects you and keeps you grounded in goodness?
And you know, the whole purpose now is to turn
these self serving, you know, greedy oligarchs into our new
(09:43):
you know, kings and queens that like we serve at
their pleasure, and if we kiss the ring and we obey,
then maybe they'll show some kindness on us. Maybe they'll
you know, throw a few coins our way, and then
those coins that we are able to grab then make
us just a little bit better than those that are
(10:03):
below us, you see. And that's the goal and the
role and so if you know the game right ahead
of time, like you can decide to opt out of
it and opt into building real relationships, opt into finding
value in things that are internal rather than external. All
(10:24):
these people want is attention and adoration, And what if
we were to decide that we're not going to give
it to them, We're not going to bestow it to them.
And I think that in a twisted, weird way, we're
seeing that happen with this, with the celebration of this
alleged shooter. You're seeing people really look through a lens
(10:48):
that is allowing us to really critique how we got
to this place in the first place. Like I said this,
you know, on on the episode of The New Abnormal,
which is out today as well, and I said, you know,
with my co host Andy, I was just like, the
(11:09):
problem that the media is having around this shooter, Luigi Maggione,
this alleged shooter, is that they can't just shrug their
shoulders and say he was crazy, right, like, oh, he's
insane and this is just you know, and brush him off.
(11:31):
It's like, no, he was educated in the same you know,
elite systems. He comes from a wealthy family, is in fact,
a rich, you know, white man who you know, by
virtue of having his own pain right, his own chronic pain,
started to look at this system that profits off of
(11:55):
his pain and profits off of everyone's pain, and that
really strike a chord. You know, if you looked at
his alleged manifesto, it was one that like doesn't read
like a crazy person like these other manifestos that we've
seen where people are hailing Donald Trump after they shoot
up a synagogue or a church or what have you,
(12:17):
you know, because of their racism and their hatred and
their bodas. It's like, no, you can't look at this
system and say that people can only as Elizabeth Warren stated,
and that she's receiving pushback for people can only be
pushed so far. And right now, billionaires who are trying
(12:39):
to create this new American oligarchy are going to push
people to their breaking point. As the saying goes, when
there's nothing left to eat, you eat the rich. Right
when there's no more appeals to be made to those
that gleefully rejoice in your suffering, than you're going to
takestic radical action. I say that, you know, violence is
(13:05):
not the answer, but it seems to be the only
answer that America actually listens to. You can't look at
this country whose founding was steeped in violence, right, and
then look at people for celebrating this shooter and say, oh,
you're depraved, really, because I think that denying healthcare to
(13:25):
millions of people who pay into a system that is
essentially a Ponzi scheme is fucking depraved. I think that
sending weapons that murder children and women and innocent civilians
and saying that this is justified is fucking depraved. America
is being revealed in this moment, and it feels like
(13:48):
things are being turned upside down. But I really don't
think that they are. I think that they've never been
right side up. I think that we have been fed
and narrative that has this belief that if we just
work hard enough, right, if we just do good and
do right, then you too can reap the rewards of
(14:09):
this parasitic capitalistic system. And that is not the truth.
The people with the immense amount of wealth in this country,
they didn't fucking work for it. It was inherited. Right.
So when people say like, oh, I'm you know, I'm
wake up and rise and grind and like, hustle so
hard and blah blah blah, you know, to make my
(14:30):
way into being a millionaire or a billionaire. It's like, nah,
you were just born into the wrong family because those
people did not hustle hard. They inherited stolen wealth and
profits from other people, and we were told to again
adore them, to aspire to them. You know, it wasn't
(14:53):
until I'll tell you this, the marriage of Megan and
Prince Harry right and the treatment that she received from
the royal family, from the people of the UK and
the media there, that it took a lot of folks
to realize, why aren't we fucking celebrating this royal family
(15:16):
to begin with? These people who have a mass their
wealth on the backs and deaths and murder and torture
and thieving that they have done for generations. But somehow
we're like, oh my god, look their royalty there. You know,
they're blue bloods, they're this, that and the other thing.
They're craven, they're craven. But they go and they've conquered
(15:40):
and colonized and made the very people that they conquered
and colonized worship them. Oh, look at their philanthropy. Look
at their fucking philanthropy. You mean that they stole and
extracted and then they sprinkle around stolen goods and we
called that philanthropy. All we've ever done is celebrate the villain.
(16:07):
But you would know that they were villains because they
have been the author of the story, contorting it to
fit their end. So if you're looking for leadership and
for those to be a moral compass, you need look
no further than yourself, because I see no one around
us that we should be aspiring to. They are setting
(16:29):
a prime example of everything that is actually wrong, and
it's disheartening. But the minute that we turn our eyeballs
and our dollars away from those that do us harm,
they will cease to have power. And that's what we
need to remember. That is it for me today, Dear
(16:52):
friends on wok af As always power to the people
and to all the people. Power, Yet woke and stay
woke as fock
