Speaker 1 (00:00):
You've never seen fear in the face of John Marxley ever. Ever,
not even when he runs away from the back eyes.
He's usually smiling and laughing like yeah, okay, whatever, I'll
see you later tonight hits you in a steel chair.
He was terrified of being choked to death. And now

(00:28):
your main event, introducing THOSSR Wrestling with Freddy Chep god
handa Pardy Frience tune. What's up everybody? Good morning, good afternoon,

(00:55):
good day, good night, whatever time it is when you
tuned in. It is an overcast, foggy day here in
Los Angeles, but it'll burn off in a couple hours.
It always does. We got the windows open. It's a nice,
nice summer day. It was a gorgeous weekend and it
was full of wrestling. The most wrestling I've seen. And
I don't know how long it is. This week, from

(01:16):
Monday to Sunday, I think I consumed one thousand hours
of professional wrestling. It was crazy. So for all you
wrestling fans out there, we had a good week. For
all you non wrestling fans out there, you had a
crap week and you probably deserved it. Let's start the show,
all right, everybody. First things first, my movie's coming out
this week. I'm very excited. I like it very much.

(01:37):
I've seen it. It's one of the few movies of
mine that I've actually seen. I'm trying something different, guys.
I'm trying to watch myself. It's not easy, but we
did it. So it comes out this Friday. It's called
I Know What You Did Last Summer. It's a sequel
they call it. I don't know what they call it,
but it's just a freaking sequel whatever. Sony says. It's
a sequel to the original ones. It's really really good.

(02:00):
Director's a friend of mine. She wrote it. Her idea
for this was crazy. When she talked to me about it,
she said, I know you're going to pass because I
passed the first time they brought the movie my way.
She goes, but let me just pitch you where I
think these characters are at in their lives right now,
and if you like that, I'll pitch you the movie
and if you don't want to have lunch whatever. And

(02:20):
I was like, yeah, all right, cool. So I'm known
Jen Robinson for a long time. If you watch Netflix.
She did do Revenge, which was a really, really slick, slick,
cool movie, and her casting is like next level, and
it was next level in this. So she sits me
down and she's like, talks to me about trauma and
how the same trauma can affect two people incredibly differently.

(02:41):
And we start talking about these like make or break
moments and our families' lives and other people that we
knowse lives, and how these traumatic events either make somebody
right they get stronger from it, right, Like my mom
went through that when my dad died. She had to
like make or break, and it could have gone either way,
but she was a maker and so that was from

(03:01):
but it breaks other people, right. And we started talking
about that and I liked where she was going. And
then she pitches me this crazy idea and before they
even wrote the script, I told her, I was like, Yo,
you guys can pull this off. And I'm in one
hundred percent. And she had so many speed bumps to
deal with from the studio and from original films, and

(03:24):
this was not an easy movie to make, and I'm
so proud of her getting her vision out there and
up there on the big screen. That's why I got
into this business, was to make movies. I know is
streaming now, there's not too many of them anymore, at
least the opportunities for them are fewer and farther between.
But I got to be in one and I'm so
happy and I'm so proud, and it's going to be
on three thousand screens. So it's definitely at a theater

(03:45):
near you, So you guys go check it out. Let's
talk some freaking wrestling, all right. All in Texas, y'all.
Story driven matches. I love them. I love them very
very much, and we got quite a few of them,
and within these matches they set up some stories for
their television moving forward. I don't know what the attendance
was at all in Texas, but the crowd looked great.

(04:09):
It looked super super full. They were a hot crowd.
They loved the The AW really gets pay per view matches, right,
so that's no surprise. I'm not breaking news there. But
these had a lot of stories going in and we're
going to hit all of them as well as the predictions. Now,
this first one, this match was added after we recorded,
but the AEW Trios Championship, the Ops Samoa, Joe, Will

(04:33):
Hobbs and Shabbata versus the Death Writers, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler
Yudah and Gabe Kid. By the way, Gabe Kids slapped
Will Hobbs in the back halfway through this match. Mistake anyway,
So this was an awesome match. They took out Samoa Joe,
they took out my Man, which is brutal. That is
the death Writers did. And the finish though, was Joe

(04:57):
hitting the musclebuster on Wheeler Udah for the to retain
the trios titles. If you made a bet on that,
congratulations to you again. We weren't able to give you
a prediction on that one, but shout out to the
ops the Men's Casino Congla match. You know we got
this right. We all picked MJF to come out on
the top. This was long term storytelling. Everybody knew this
was going to happen. It kind of sets up a

(05:19):
lot of great storyline for the Hurt Business or sorry,
the Hurt Syndicate. My bad and I think eventually we'll
get a great match between Bobby Lashley and I think
we'll get a great match between Shelton and him too.
But the big one is Bobbys versus Max eventually, but
that's going to be down the line. But anyway, they
concentrated on really bringing the homegrown talent in, which is

(05:41):
a great idea, and they got to show off. And
it was the return of Juice Robinson, or as Jim
Carrey would say, Jewice. Anybody remember that cable guy? Anyone? Anyone? No,
forget it. But he made us come back clean shaven.
I didn't even recognize dude. I was like, man because
I had the stove going and the fan on, so

(06:02):
I couldn't hear them say his name. I was like, oh,
it's this, But he came back. The Guns also made
their return. They helped out Juice, they helped out Jewice,
and uh Bullet Club gold back. Baby. We just got
j White to come back from injury. I freaking hate injuries.
We'll get into that in just in just a second. Anyway,

(06:22):
what was was I gonna say, Oh, yeah, so Brisco
grabs strong, He's gonna get the finish, and the story
was him and MJF and he's gonna get an ass
whoop and all this, and so we got to tell
that story. And then of course the end of that
story is MJF grabbing Brisco, throwing him out of the ring.
Stealing the pin for himself, winning, going up on the

(06:43):
turnbuckle and saying, I freaking told you suckers, and now
I'm going after my triple B. He's gonna get it.
He's gonna get it. That dude is so money on
the mic, and he's great in the ring, and he's
in a faction right now that's gonna have all the
freaking goal. So yeah, so it's good. Yeah, we told
you the prediction. If you listen to us this way.

(07:03):
At least, if you listen to me this week when
you placed your bets with all your friends, you guys
got paid. If you didn't, if you listened to Jeff
and Alex the producer, guys lost your ass. Here we go.
DNT Championship Adam Cole versus Kyle Fletcher. This one's sort
of a wash to me because the match that we
placed a bet on didn't happen because friggin' Adam Cole

(07:27):
came out and said that he had some health concerns
that were preventing him from wrestling. You know, I think
we can only assume what the injuries are. My assumption
would be concussions, and as someone who's had a lot
of them. You cannot f around with that stuff, and
it's easier to get them each time you get one.

(07:48):
That's when they say, like a boxer's lost their chin.
And once you get knocked out once, it's a lot
easier to get knocked out again. That's true with concussions
as well. So I don't know what it is, and
it feels awkward and kind of gross to speculate, So
I apologize for that, and I just wish wish health
and recovery, man like, that's that's that's all, that's all

(08:08):
we can do. If I love Adam Cole, he's one
of those guys that really earned it with me as
far as like making me a fan of his and uh,
it's super super sad, but they had they still had
to have the match. The show must go on, as
they say, and they did a fatal four way with
Daniel Garcia, Dustin Road, Samy Govera, and Kyle Fletcher. We

(08:29):
had all picked Kyle Fletcher to win, but that was
when the match was different. They did a really nice
Texas finish and Dustin Rhodes got the win. He got
a he did a quick roll up and uh and
got the victory. And cried in the corner and got
a major title for himself. And I thought that was
a really cool, nice story that they told at the
last second, which is hard to do. So so shout

(08:52):
out to uh Dustin Rhodes, he's the man. The Women's
Casino Cola match. We didn't make a prediction for this.
I wasn't. I guess we weren't able to figure out

(09:13):
who was always going to be in it. This wasn't
one of the better stories told unless they were telling
it on Collision. I don't always have time to watch Collision,
So if you did, my bat but Athena, who we
love Matt Athena pinned Mina Shirakawa and she earned She
gets the title shot. But again, we didn't give you
guys a prediction for this one, and I apologize, but

(09:34):
it's not always our fault. They got to tell stories.
He gots to tell stories, and they did with this
next match, the Young Bucks versus Swerve Strickland and Will Spray.
If the Young Bucks lose, they lose their executive vice
presidential status. You see what I did there. And if
Swerve and Will lose, they don't get to challenge for

(09:55):
the title. For like a year. I think it was
yeah for a year. So we all picked Osprey. I
think we all picked Yeah. We all picked Swerve and
Osprey to win, and that is what happened. However, this
freaking match and these guys, all four of them, all
four of them. But I'm a big Osprey fan and

(10:16):
a big Swarf Strickland fan. And the reason I am
is I just think they have like maybe not if
you like big guys, then it's not the total package
because now they're one is a big dude, But I
don't care about that. Like I like luchadors, so these
guys are bigger than Luchador's so they're big. They look
big to me. These are two of my favorite guys.

(10:37):
And to watch them shine and show off their full
move set and how creative they are working together and
a fun finish like that, this match was just awesome.
My kids had fun watching this one with me. They
did walk out later during the bloodbath, which we also
predicted would happened, not a surprise, not a hard prediction,
but like both my kids, my wife was at an

(10:59):
event she wasn't able to watch. She watches sometimes too.
If I go, oh, you got to see this guy
is really cool. But yeah, they had a lot of
fun watching this match, and we had a great time.
They got the Hidden Blade and the House called double
whammy on Matt Jackson for the pin, and the Bucks
are no longer EVPs and they don't have a limousine
anymore because Swerve smash that with a big old crane

(11:20):
truck type thing. Sorry, I an excavator? Is that what
it was? An excavator. I'm not into construction. Sorry, I'm
just into old Japanese cars and pro wrestling. Anyway, the
AEW this was, By the way, this match was the
easiest prediction. You think the Hurt Syndicate's gonna already lose
the titles when they have had zero dissension in the
ranks and no team has put in enough time week

(11:42):
to week to show that they can out talk this
group onto Mike or out wrestle this group in the
ring and are worthy of a shot to have the
gold around their waist. Hell to the no that said,
This match ruled tons of back and forth between the teams.
The finish was Hurt Syndicate Christian Cage after Lashly speared

(12:03):
him and they retained the titles. This was a super
super super cool finish because our producer Alex was one
hundred percent right, not only in his prediction of how
the match would end, but what would happen with random
people in the match, like Nick Wayne and Christian Cage.
And he predicted the turn, which I think maybe a
lot of us saw coming because Christian Cage hasn't been

(12:24):
the best patriarch type father figure to Nick Wayne. He's
kind of been a bit of a dick bro. So
Nick Wayne's had enough and Christian Cage is getting out
of the ring and FTRS in there they were going
to beat him up and He's like, no, you're not
going to beat him up, and keep Saving's like, that's right,
you're not going to beat him up, mate, and does
Tom Hardy, I guess. But Christian Cage goes to get

(12:48):
out of the ring and Nick Wayne says, nope, gotcha, bitch,
Haja wha plow and he hits him with his own
finisher and then they're going to basically kill him, and
then we hear the music on this day and here
he comes. Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge, comes out there,
now known as Cope with a spike baseball bat appropriately

(13:10):
named Spike, and he goes in the ring and he
threatens to kill everybody with Spike and they're like, no, no, no,
we're good man. I don't want to die. So he
spears some people beat some people up. They all get
out of there. Nick Wayne's mom slapped a ship out
of Christian. That was a really hard slap. That was
pretty good. And then I almost called him Edge. And
then Cope grabs the microphone and he picks up Christian Cage,

(13:34):
who's just selling like crazy. He's just beat down to
all Hell's Hey is that Adam? And Cope grabs the
mic and he goes go takes this great traumatic beat
find yourself. That was a pretty good Edge impression. I'm
just not trying to brag or anything, but I am

(13:55):
an actour. So he says that sorry, and then he
and we get maybe a good guy Christian because he
just got turned out by the patriarchy. That could be
a lot of fun. That could be a tag team
that could challenge the Hurt Syndicate. Not saying they will,
I'm just saying they could. And we all picked Hurt
Syndicate to win. So if again, if you bet with

(14:16):
me you win. If you don't, then you know you
don't know what winning feels like. And let me tell
you something. Winning feels great. I play games every week
in my house. I'll remember the last time I lost, y'all.
I'm not trying to be a jerk about it either.
I just don't remember the last time I lost, because
winning feels good. The Unified ae W Championship. Kenny Omega

(14:38):
aka Kenneth Omega, the inter national champion versus Kazuchka Okada,
the Continental champion, and this match unifies both titles and
we get the inaugural unified champion. And I think my
dogs are going crazy. I have headphones on so I

(14:59):
can intel, but our producer publican anyway, A lot of
people are saying I had the call of the night
with this one. You know, to me, it wasn't wasn't
that hard man. My man still needs the belt. He
can't he can't talk on a mic the way the
way Omega can. English is not his first language. There's
no harm, no foul on that, so I think the
belt helps Okada. Kenny doesn't need to have a belt.

(15:22):
He's established as who he is an aw which is
a founding Father, Hall of Famer, all that stuff. I'll
say this again, I don't know what all the hate
is on dude. Man Like he really gives it all
out in the ring and takes a hell of an
ass whipping out there. Yeah, I don't, I don't. I
don't get all the hate. But anyway, Kazuchka wins the
match and he pins Omega with the rain Maker and

(15:46):
he becomes the unified champion again. Jeff and Alex didn't
want to listen to me. I got the call here
and you know, just as usual, in a commanding lead
the aw Women's World Championship, Tony Storm versus Mercedes Money.
Best story second to Adam Hangman, Page and John Moxley

(16:09):
that AEW was telling was this Tony Storm Mercedes Money story.
Tony Storm has just found herself with this crazy, insane, ridiculous, obnoxious,
beautiful psaltry, smart, sharp, psychotic character and timeless. Tony Storm

(16:35):
will say anything, anything at all. She does not care,
she'll curse, she'll she'll be proper, She'll say anything, but
she'll always tell the truth in this very weird, obscure way.
And all her promo, her go home promo for this
match was just great, Like she just tears into Mercedes
and it is like, yo, you know you worry about

(16:55):
how you live. I worry about how I fucking die.
She just she killed it. Man, Sorry for cursing, but
but yeah, man, she's just done a great job. And
I mentioned my reasoning for thinking she was gonna win
was how big she was selling, like fear and doubt
and I don't know if I can climb this mountain,
and she does that, so when she does, it means
more right, just smart, long again, long term storytelling. That's

(17:18):
old school mentality. And I just thought they did a
really fun job with this, with this build up. I
thought they did a really fun job with this match.
And you know who won. Tony Storm was who me
and Alex picked to retain. But Jeff, he's crazy, picked Mercedes.
He didn't want to listen. He didn't want to listen,
so he lost money, just like you if you didn't listen. Finally,

(17:55):
a w World Championship. John Moxon the Champion the world.
Let anybody see the championship because he's mean, selfish and
just saves it for himself as wife and kid, probably
versus Hangman Adam Paige a man of the people, especially
in the state of Texas where they had this match,
in a Texas death match. There was death. There certainly

(18:18):
was Texas, and there was a match people, and that's
all you need to have a Texas death match. You
also need a bed of nails. You also need screwdrivers, forks, swords,
Batsuoka's grenades, shrapnel. You need all these things and they
used everything. You need random people to come out and
try to kill you. That happened too. You need blood everywhere.

(18:41):
It's a good thing. This was the last match of
the night, so no one else had to wrestle in
that pool of life force. And there was blood everywhere.
We said there would be. You knew there would be.
We didn't have to tell you. And eventually hangman Adam
Page choked out John Moxley with a freaking chain and

(19:02):
Moxley was just like, come on, man, this was like
such a sick cell job. You've never seen fear in
the face of John Moxley ever ever, not even when
he runs away from the bad guys. He's usually smiling
and laughing like, yeah, okay, whatever, I'll see you later tonight.
Hit you with a steel chair he was terrified of

(19:23):
being choked to death. It's a forced submission because he's
not going to tap right. He's screaming and yelling. But man,
like just so sick to see someone that tough finally
show like fear. I don't know, man, this was just
a great aw has converted me into a blood guy.
I was not. I was real squeamish around it, and

(19:44):
there were a couple times in this where I was like,
good god, man, it's just too much. The DDT on
the peed and nails was just like, what don't die?
I like you, man, I want to see you wrestle
the next week. Anyway, this was a great match, and
as bloody as it was, it's not for everybody. So
I totally acknowledged that if if, if you're one of

(20:05):
those fans, it's just like yo, man, it's just too
much blood and not enough of this stuff. I like,
I get it, but they've kind of got their hooks
in me in this, so so yeah, man, I really
enjoyed the match, and I picked the winner. We all
picked the winner. We all knew what was gonna happen.
A dub delivered, though, and most of their pay per
views do at least in the in the match form

(20:26):
this one in match and story form. Had a really
great time watching this again, just a great weekend of wrestling.
They set up future storylines and they you know, I
think they they have found themselves in the last year
as far as the types of arenas they can they
can fill to make it look, you know, like the
fans are there and in it to win it and
uh and they've really figured it out. So we're just

(20:48):
gonna touch on two things. On Saturday Night's main event,
not the best night of wrestling, mainly because we have
another freakin' injury Adam Cole with the TNT Championship, and
it looks like seth Rawlins hurt his knee, which is
just freaking horrible. Seth Rollins has a rocket ship strapped
to him right now and in a really cool storyline,

(21:09):
they just killed everybody. On Monday Night Raw with Brown
Breaker and Bronson Reid and him in La and I
had a match and you could kind of see he
got hurt and he was talking to the ref and
a lot of people are speculating he was like, yeah,
just have him pin me so we don't have a
no finish. But yeah, it just this isn't like the movies. Man.

(21:30):
You know, when I do a movie, I get a
stunt man, and any damage that I suffer is zero
percent damage. It's one hundred percent damage on the stunt man. Now,
there's a few stunts that that I do, but it's
never anything where I'm gonna get seriously injured. That's where
the professional comes in because I don't know how to
take those kind of falls. I'm not Tom Cruise out there,

(21:52):
you know, training like that. I'm fifty and I feel it.
These guys don't, and I hate it so much when
they get hurt. I had a stunt man get hurt
on a TV series that I did, and he was
in a car accident. The driver of the car crashed
it and both his knees went into the dash, broke
both his knees. They had to give me a stunt

(22:12):
in and I was just like, Yo, that's the dude's
I know they get like insurance and stuff like that,
but it's like, Yo, that's the dude's like life passion
and it's just been taken away for like eight to
twelve months. Like that's just that's brutal. So I hate
when these guys get hurt, and I hope that it's
short and short and sweet, but that sounds weird short
and not sweet, you know what I'm trying to say. Anyway,

(22:35):
La Night won the match. We all picked Seth and
I think he would have won, but shit happens. The
World Heavyweight Championship Gunther versus Goldberg. Look, man, this is
gonna be a tough match. I don't want to you know,
I don't want to drop bombs on it or anything
like that, but this was going to be a tough
match to get over. It was Atlanta, so that's good.
Crowd is real friendly to him. Gunther did his best

(22:56):
to get Goldberg over. Maybe the match went low, I
don't know, but they had to cut his retirement speech
way short, which is just brutal to do. Like the
guy finally got his retirement match and then he can't
even say what he wants to say because NBC has
a heart out. That's just to me, that just sucks
and it's nobody's fault, you know what I mean. Like,
shit happens. But man, that was that was rough. It

(23:18):
was rough to watch and I'm not like a big
Goldberg guy, and I was like, oh dude, they did
him dirty. They being the network, not WW all right,
you guys, Oh and we all picked gun Through to win.
Come on, that's you. Nobody was gonna take Goldberg on that,
so you guys didn't even get the place a bet.
All right, guys, that's gonna do it. For this episode
of Wrestling with Freddy. What else are we gonna talk about? Oh, tomorrow,

(23:39):
we're gonna talk about the results of WWE's evolution too.
Also in it, Blenn Soe. Then on behalf of Jeff,
who could not be here today was because of scheduling
conflicts and it was my fault, not his fault, so
don't be mad at him. And he won't be with
us tomorrow either, so you're stuck with me once again
on behalf of him. I'm Freddy Peace es
