Speaker 1 (00:00):
Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to Wrestling with Friends. Today's episode
is titled Don't Kick Dudes in the Nuts, Jonathan, Let's
start the show.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
And now your main event introducing the hosts are Wrestling
with Freddy, Jeff Die and of Freddy Friends Junior.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Welcome back, everybody, Wrestling with Friends. Wrestling with Freddy. I
don't care what you want to call it. Jeff's here,
so I call it wrestling with Friends. When he's not,
it's just me. We had no show last week. I
had some work commitments that I had to do. We're back,
We're in full force. It's been a hell of a
two weeks in wrestling. I'll say a heck of a
two weeks. I'm not trying to curse today. It's been
a heck of a two weeks in wrestling. And we're
(01:02):
going to get into everything. Also, our night of Champion predictions.
I hope it still happens. We'll see and that's going
to happen no matter what. I just don't know where.
And we'll give some thoughts on Goldberg versus Gunther. Jeff
might like Goldberg more than me, so maybe I'll let
him take that topic. I'm not super hype for that match.
And finally we'll get into a quick review of AEW
(01:24):
Dynamite Grand Slam Mexico where Mercedes Money wins yet another title.
She now has twenty seven titles hanging from her body
all at the same time. And Adam Hangman page cut
a full promo in Spanish. We'll get into that also.
Don't miss out on our Thursday show as we answer
all the questions that we're sent in. Thank you for those.
(01:44):
Here we go, Jeff, First of all, how you feeling?
We're both wearing hats today?
Speaker 3 (01:49):
You got it? What a Florida Marlins had?
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Is that?
Speaker 3 (01:51):
What that is? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:51):
I'm going to West Palm Beach this week and the Keys,
the Florida Keys, So I just went with the random
Florida the state in jail. You know, they don't have
a key's hat or a West Palm Beach hat.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
So they have to at some random tourist shop. You
got to go get a West Keys hat and everyone
will go, what's that from?
Speaker 3 (02:12):
And then you can't made with glitter glue.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
It's all floppy, but you know the town's hat.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
I, sir, have a Dotson hat on because I love
old school Japanese cars. So that' says Dotson in Japanese.
My buddy Mac got me this hat. It's pretty sweet.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
You don't wear a lot of hats, at least I
haven't seen you wear a lot of hats.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
I don't I used to when I was a kid.
I just I got out. Once I cut all my hair,
my long hair short. It was easy to manage, and
I stopped wearing hats. I think that's what it was.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Two things about the hat that maybe the audience doesn't
know about me. One, if I'm ever wearing I have
to wear headphones. I wear a hat because I'm like
the combo of a hat and headphones I think looks better.
And Two, the more successful I get, the less I
want to wear a hat because I want people to
recognize me.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
I do. I like, I want to punch you in
right now.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
I will last when I go out to not get
seen and you're like, no, no, trying.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
To not be noticed.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
I'm like, I've been doing pretty good lately. I'm not
gonna I'd like people to give.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Me some love.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Let's get some love, man, you just have some flowers
and love. Congratulations on the comedy store. Jeff, that's so
fucking awesome to be That's there's a huge, long, rich, rich,
rich history of regulars that got to perform there. Even
my father was fortunate enough to get to be a
regular there. You are now sitting at the table, as
(03:39):
they say, and I respect it so much and I'm
so happy for you. And I'm not your dad, so
I shouldn't say I'm proud of you, but I'm really
big brother, baby, You're my big brother.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Cool, cool, cool, No, thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
I'm very I was very very flattered and teary eyed
to be part of to be able to join in
the Reindeer Games.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
So I'm very very very happy.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Hell yeah, dude, that's great. Okay, so a lot happened
in wrestling. A lot happened in wrestling. I'll get this
out of the way first, I guess before we get
into predictions.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
I'm not a Goldberg guy.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
I was never compelled by any of his promos. And
the only match that I ever liked he did was
against Regal, and that was kind of a dirty match.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
If you want to watch it on YouTube, Rigel just
kind of school fa mismatch.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Yeah, it's a pretty famous match, but not everybody that
listens to us as a diehard. So this is something
you could watch and you'll see the history of it
in the commons sections.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
But Regal is pretty cool and I actually got to
work with.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Him a little bit when I was at WWE, and
I really liked him a lot, and he was very
very kind and generous with me with the history of
wrestling and storytelling and things like that.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
So I'm not a big Goldberg guy.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
I hope Gunther wins the match quickly we can get
onto the other matches because I think the other matches
will be a lot better. But Jeff, I'll let you
take over if you want to throw anything in there.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
I think I'm as annoyed as the other wrestling fans
that Goldberg let's gets to just waltz in and get
like a title match.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
I think that that is.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Something everyone is equally annoyed about, you know. It's like
it just doesn't make any sense in my opinion. How like,
I think they did a little lazy job of just
letting him walk right in and now he gets like
a title match. I too, was also never really a
Goldberg guy. I think I was at first the first
(05:24):
twenty squash matches where he just came in in WCW
and he was kind of like this super hulked out
version of stone cold Steve Austin where there was like,
you know, without the mic work on that stuff, but
just a bald white guy with muscles and a goatee,
just squash and everybody.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
I liked him at Sweet Walkout. Sweet Walk Out for sure,
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
It was a great entrance and they would just come
in and do the move and it would be over
in like twenty seconds. I kind of liked all that,
But I think I kind of liked all that because
I was a teenager. I was a kid, and so
maybe that's all I really cared. I was like, oh,
he's it's so cool, and it kind of worked. But
now that I am this age and we care about
(06:05):
wrestling and we care about story, you gotta do a
little bit better than letting him just waltz in and
get his final match and it's a title match. The
whole thing just stinks to high heaven in my opinion.
So yeah, I don't need That's all I have to
say about those things.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
So that's all the stinky poo. We have time for today,
Let's get into Night of Champion predictions. Okay, first up, man,
my allergies are like driving me crazy to dow and
usually have them. It's a beautiful day in Los Angeles,
but apparently everything I'm allergic to is blown through the window.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
It's how it works. The Women's Queen of the Ring Tournament.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
We made this prediction quite some time ago, but I'll
maintain my philosophy on this. The winner of this tournament
goes on to Summer Slam, which is always a great
pay per view. It used to always be in La
I missed that. It's not here anymore. That was always
a fun one to go to. And they're going to
face the champion of their respective brand. So as of
right now, the finals consist.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
Of Osca, who we all love.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Oscar is awesome and she owns nail salons all around
like Florida and makes mad fucking dough.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Oh I cussed.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
I wasn't even gonna cuss today. She makes mad dough
with all her like businesses. She's like a smart business woman.
She helps out a lot of the other roster too,
with like investing your money and things like that. This
are just things that I've heard about her, so we
love Osca because she's awesome in the ring and outside
of the ring, and she looks out for wrestlers, which
is cool. Anyway, she's gonna go against the winner of
Roxanne Perez, recently called up from NXT. She's super little
(07:31):
and tiny if you don't know her, bounces around the
ring like kids used to throw those super balls at
assemblies in high school and the teachers would be like,
if one more kid throws up all, we're gonna sit
in silence for five minutes. That's Roxanne Perez and she's
going against Jade Cargill, who I've said from JUMP. I
feel like this is her tournament to win. This is
the push that she's gonna get. They've really protected her
(07:52):
and brought her along and started now to give her
some solo matches, and I think this is where it's
going to kind of come to fruition, or you could
say Oscar is now back and healthy and this is
going to be her storyline to go. But I think
I would rather see her get an organic storyline than
a tournament storyline. I'm not if you guys know you
know me at all by now you know I'm not
big into tournaments, even the Queen of the Ring. I'm
(08:14):
not into the Owen Heart tournament. I like stories. More
tournaments are okay, like once every couple of years for me.
But otherwise I'm like, okay, here we go tournament. This
one I'm uniquely interested in because I want to see
what they do with Jade. I think this is the
time for her to get the push. It could be
a lot of fun. Whether she wins at SummerSlam or
not is irrelevant. It's more about how she performs in
(08:35):
these matches and in a championship match. But I'm picking
Jade Cargill to win Queen of the Ring at SummerSlam.
Our producer Alex, who is damned sure better than me
at these picks on the last two pay per views,
is also picking Jade Cargill to win this. So nobody
believes in poor Roxan Perez unless Jeff goes against the grain.
(08:56):
Mister contrarian, what's saying, sir.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
I'm a contrarian, but I'm never a contrarian just to
be a contrarian, only when I genuinely believe it. I
think Jade Cargill is definitely going to win this and
I can't picture anyone that's gonna look better with that
crown on.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Oh that's a great point. That's it's too big for Roxanne.
It like slip over her.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
So dope with like that crown. Like certain people just
the wear the crown great. Like Booker t is a
great example, bro, because he's so jacked. It like fits perfectly,
and he's still it doesn't dwarf him because he's still
so big. Bro. He looks like an action figure when
he wears it, and I think Jade Cargill will have
(09:41):
that same action figure effect. So I'm definitely not only
do I believe she's going to win, but I'm excited
because I think she'll look cool.
Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
Man, I'm really excited to see what happens next. You know,
she cut what I think is her best backstage promo
last week, and she was talking to Byron and she
was talking about the Queen of the Ring Tournament, and
it was so clean. It was written for her to
be certain, or she wrote it first and rehearsed it
to be certain, but her execution of it was the
best that she's done so far. I remember watching it
(10:18):
and I think I even texted you guys, or texted
one of you guys and was like, yo, Jake Carkill
just kind of brought it backstage, and I thought that
was the best she's done so far. So she's getting
better in the ring, she's getting better with her promos,
and I think this is going to be the push
for her.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
I do. I do.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
So we're all in agreement. Y'all are trying to make money. Listen,
just get on whatever draft app you use, draft app,
gambling app you use, you know which one. I was
going to say, make some bets, make some money. Overall,
we will make you money. We're always going to get
more right than wrong. If you just bet, like on
a couple of them, we might let you down, but
overall we take care of you guys. Remember that one
(10:53):
day we'll have a sponsor that we can prove it
to you guys with. Let's move on to the Men's
King of the Ring Tournament. The dudes, all right. The
winner of this tournament also goes to SummerSlam and will
also face the champion of their respective brand, and as
of right now, the finals consist of mister Randy Orton
(11:14):
Boom he broke Freddy's back Boom, or don't laugh at
hurt versus the winner of Jay Usso versus Cody Rhodes.
Cody's the man. Some of you may say, I don't
think Cody can win this tournament because he's had his
story and it's time for him to give someone else's story.
(11:35):
But this I think could be an ongoing part of
his story, So that could be an argument for them
to eventually get the belt off of Sina. But remember,
I don't think Sena's time is done yet. He ain't
losing this until he walks away, and it's either gonna
be with the title, which would be cold as ice,
and they're never gonna do that because they'd.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Say, oh, it weakens the title.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Or he'll be his final match and he'll lose it
to Cody then. So I don't think Cody can win
the entire tournament. I think they're gonna lead themselves to
a Randy Orton victor and get him closer to his
story of fifteen. I believe it would be World Championships,
so that would be him versus Gunther. Gunther beat him
last time, if you remember in Saudi Arabia, I think
(12:16):
it was for King of the Rings. So it's time
to get that win back. So I'm going with Randy
Orton winning the entire tournament and facing Gunther and getting
that time. I'm calling my shot way early and even
winning that match at whatever SummerSlam. So there's an early
prediction for you as well. Our producer Alex thinks Cody's
gonna beat Jay Usso. However, he agrees with me, guys,
(12:39):
your sensing a trend here, it's called the correct trend,
and he sees Cody going up against Randy, Randy winning
and also heading to SummerSlam to face Gunter Gunter. That's
how the announcer lady says it. I need to say
it the right way, Jeff. It's up to you. Is
it the trifecta? You either got you got Randy Orton
versus either Jay Usso or Cody Roade. Jay and Cody
(13:01):
have to still wrestle. The winner of that faces Randy Orton,
and then Randy versus that person in the finals for
King of the Ring.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
What's saying the I love Randy Orton, big fan of
Randy Orton, not a fan of what he did to
my big brother Freddy in his back, but you know
these things since that's happened to you, Fred, He's had
what five hundred things he's done. You know, like those
people have all moved on from Randy beating his beating
(13:30):
their butts.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
You know, it's been they're better people than me, They're
better people than that.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Big big fan.
Speaker 4 (13:35):
Love Randy Orton, Love what he's doing, Love that, even
at this stage in his career, he can make these
great moments. I was excited for a Ko versus Randy
Orton at WrestleMania. Didn't get that because of Ko, but
we still got a really great match where he put
a young guy over and it was fun to watch. Anyways,
I just like all the things Randy's doing, so i'd
(13:58):
like to say that I believe he'll win this.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
He's also never won a King of the Ring, but.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
I don't want to. My contrarian side says, don't just
pick what you know.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
I'm not a Jagusaw guy. I'd never have been.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
I don't think I think Cody Roads is too over
for him to win this, although it would be similar
to what they're doing with seth Rawlins, where seth Rawlins
is still the guy and then they make them mister
money in the bank. I'm going to I'm gonna go
with you, guys, Randy or yes, yes, you had to work,
had to get.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
A running start on that.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
There's no there's no worries. Those are some of the
most fun street races. When you're already going like sixty
and then you're right next to each other and they
go one, two, three, go four. You see those guys
take off on Instagram. That's so awesome. I drive slow.
I drive old cars, but I think it's cool when
people drive fast. I know it's dangerous. Were seapop. That's
three in a row where we all agree. So you
guys are starting to kind of feel the vibe here.
(14:51):
You kind of want to ride this wave. We're gonna
have some dissension on the next match. Dominic Mysterio, the
baby face of all babyfaces, versus AJ Styles, who's coming
after him for no good reason whatsoever. Dominic's such a
nice guy, good dude, He's just trying to He's young man,
like you guys act like young people. Can't make bad choices,
(15:12):
can't make mistakes. So he's made a few. He's made
a few. Maybe you don't like the company he keeps, okay,
but you can still love the man. You can still
love the man the way I have. He's been on
a hot streak. Live Morgan's injured shoulder injury dislocation, has
to have surgery, So now he's alone. But that also
means he has no distractions, y'o. They always say, like
(15:35):
a baseball player goes in a slump when he gets
married and when he has his first kid. Well, Dom's
got no distractions. Now he's not gonna go into a slump.
He's gonna pull off a victory. It might be with
some help, it might be with some help. Whatever. Man,
get a little help from your friends. They've written songs
about that. It's not a heel moves. That was a
Babyface band that's sang that song. But I say, I
(15:57):
say he's gonna win. He's gonna win, He's going to retain.
I think he's got a good thing going with this. Eventually,
obviously he has to lose. But I don't think tonight's
the night. I think aj Styles will do the job.
Our producer Alex this is the first time we disagree
on this episode. He's picking Aj Styles to become the
new Intercontinental champion. Jeff, it's one to one man, you
(16:20):
got to break the tie. You got to help the people.
You're the deciding vote. Let me just say it would
be great. I know Alex picked to AJ Styles. It
would be great that AJ Styles if he if he
could kind of get another pop this. You know, he
hasn't gotten much love, you.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Know, in these things.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
So if they gave him the ICEA belt, that'd be cool.
But Dom is the guy. I mean, he is so good.
I'll and I know that I keep repeating myself on
this podcast. I was such a hater he remember when
he had short, short hair and he was dowey, and
he would like he looked like he couldn't do any
(16:57):
wrestling moves.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
He also looked like he was lost out there.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
They kept having Rio Ripley slam him like it was
like they would be that Rie Ripley would just pick
him up and then like slam him down.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
I was like, why are they doing this? Dude.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
Dom has made a full one eighty since then and
has become easily the most natural wrestler, the most like
he's just so so so good.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
I'm gonna go thumb. Yeah, it's Dominic mysterio. He's getting
to win. Now some of you are gonna go. Alex
has been better than you guys lately. I'm going with Alex.
If that's how you feel, that's how you feel. I'm
not telling you who to trust. I'm just telling you
I got a feeling and it feels good and it's
for dominic mysterio.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
I trust you.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
Next up, the United States is the easiest match of
the night, y'all, the easiest match of the night. If
you just want to bet five bucks on one match,
you won't get much on it because the odds aren't
gonna be good. But it's Jacob Fatu, the United States Champion,
versus Solo Sokoa, who he used to love but now
he hates.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Well, Solo came out there and he was like, hey man,
I say you might not love me, but I love
you and I need you to love me back eventually,
So let's forgive, forget and move forward. And Jacob f
I two is like, that's some bull crap. I didn't cuss,
straight up, I don't believe anything you're saying. What I
(18:21):
think you want was gold, and you're pissed that I
got gold before you got gold. So if that's your beef,
and I think it is, and he lays the title
down in the ring. He says, then let's wrestle for
the gold. Let's see what let's let's see. Let's see
if it's about family or if it's about fame. And
Solo was like, yeah, all right, here, get this a
long spike, fool and he gets caught and Jacob fi
(18:42):
two said, no, I don't think so, son, but now
I know your heart.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
I know your heart is black.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
It's black, and it's evil and it's it's not trustworthy.
And then they set up a match and he cut
another promo backstage where he said everything he wanted to say, basically,
we understood that. Now we got to match a night
of champions between these two. This is the easiest pick
in the world. Everybody's gonna see the Samoan Werewolf Jacob
Fatu win this match, beat up Solo. Solo cheat a
(19:09):
couple times and put some beatdowns on him, but Fatu
will not stay down no matter what. He's gonna win
this match. I don't even think it's gonna be that
long of a match. It's not gonna be a squash,
but it's gonna be like twelve minutes and that's it,
and he's going over huge. Alex agrees with me. Jeff's
nod in his head, so I'm already ratting him out,
but Jeff, I mean it is.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
It's gonna be a squash match in story. In story,
it's a squash. There's no world where Solo beats Jacob Fatu.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
All three of us pick Jacob Fatu to win easily
over Solo Sokoa, which means it's time for the main event,
a main event where I'll say this, man, John Cena,
I'm not gonna say this is the best promo John
Cena ever cut, but it's the best one I can
remember in a long ass time. You could tell at
(19:58):
one point that they were ending to early, and so
he just started spitballing because they were like you could
see him go, like, yo, we still got five minutes,
and so he just starts saying.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
Whatever he wanted to say. They were telling him the opposite.
I thought they were telling him to wrap it up.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
No, they had way too much time left over at
the end of the show. So he just started kind
of spitballing and saying wild stuff and doing his thing,
and it came off real organic super super cool, and
I know it was a play on the on the
Punk promo that Punk did to John Cena, as John
even alludes to that where he's like, and I stole
your promo, son, But he just kind of said whatever.
(20:34):
And I know a lot of people are like, Oh,
he's gonna get in trouble. Not all everything was approved.
USA is super strict with that kind of stuff, So
if he said it, they're okay with it.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Trust me on that.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
I used to work there and USA had issues with
stuff that WW did and WW went you turned. That's
our partner. We don't want to piss him off. So
they know where the bread was buttered right there. But
(21:09):
it was really really good, really clean. I'm excited to
watch this match. I think we all know who the
winner of the match is going to be. But I
don't care because they've done a really good job in
a short amount of time to get me excited for
this story. And they kind of have to do this
like John Cena running the gauntlet of all these like
top dudes, who's gonna be next, who's gonna be next,
(21:31):
Who's going to be next? They had what three weeks
for the cmpunk one, so I think yeah, I think
just three weeks to tell this story. And Punk goes
out there and does his promos and shout out to
Punk for selling for like seven eight minutes on the
ground like he's unconscious and can't move. That takes a
lot of humility to do, because nobody wants to lay there.
Oh really, Oh go ahead please.
Speaker 4 (21:53):
I was just gonna say he had to lay there
like he was in total pain and unconscious for the
whole promo. His leg was bent up, you know, because
that's how he landed when he got slammed through the
table and he had to just go like what the
entire time that John Cena is doing the promo, I
(22:14):
couldn't believe he committed to it that long. I would
have like rolled over on my face and then kind
of like put my face in my arm armpit kind
of like elbow area because it was just so long
enough for him to be looking up acting like that
table shot made him unconscious for that long?
Speaker 3 (22:31):
It was It was crazy.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
Did you like the pipe bomb that like, or like,
if that's what we're gonna call it, did you like
seeing his promo?
Speaker 3 (22:38):
I wouldn't call it a pipe bomb.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
I don't think he was anywhere close to that kind
of a promo. But I loved his energy and I
loved what he brought to the table. You could tell
that they ran out of time in words, so he
kind of had to freestyle and spitball at the end.
So it felt like the promo ended four or five times.
But I didn't care because he came off so natural
and real that I was like, yeah, man, go do
(23:01):
your thing. I don't I don't care what you say
as long as you stay in this kind of energy
and this vibe and the way he talked to the camera,
and it was a little big when he's like, I'm
breaking the fourth wall. But still that part didn't make sense.
It was a little It was a little big. He
could have made that that moment smaller and it would
have it would have hit a little harder.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
But I really liked what he did.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
I loved his energy throughout it, and I loved that
CM punk sold for however long that was, because that
was an eternity to lay on the frigging ground. So yeah, man,
I thought it was a good segament and it made
me excited for this match we've got. And again everyone's
calling it a pipe on, but it wasn't. I don't
think it was. It was that level of volatile.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
This was the John Cena we were hoping for.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
I want back in the day, back then. Now I
want no.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Bad, bitter, heal John Cena. I want bad guy John Cena.
I don't want indifferent John Cena. I don't like I'm
over at John Cena. Or you don't deserve a promo,
you don't deserve new music. Like I think that idea
(24:10):
was fine, but it just it comes off so lazy,
and it comes off as like it doesn't come off
of as he doesn't care. It comes off as he's
not even trying to do wrestling, which is the point
to entertain us. So I think the idea was there,
but they didn't pull it off. And so now I
want to see some I want to see some some
bad guy.
Speaker 3 (24:29):
Give me, give me some bad guy. That's what I want.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
Well, yeah, I that's those are pretty good points, man.
I feel you on all that. I can't I can't
really debate it. And this is kind of more bad
guy because he said I'm jealous, which is a heel
thing to say, and kind of use that as the
motivation for the rest of the promo when he poop
pooed all over an unconscious Seampunk. All that said, both
(24:53):
me and producer Alex pick John Cena to retain and
move on to Summerslam's champion. He ain't losing this title
till his very last match, which is again a predictable storyline,
but I'm here for it and I'm here to see
how they can pull it off. Who do you think
is winning this match? I think I know what you're
gonna say, But who do you think is gonna win?
Speaker 4 (25:14):
I think CM punk wins. You're what Really That's what
I'd like to happen. So that's what I'm gonna predict.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
All right, So you're you're dark horse in it with
CM punk the underdog.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Well, what are they gonna do?
Speaker 4 (25:26):
Just John's gonna have it for intell he retires and
then what hand it over?
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Not hand it over, but he'll lose that final match
and Cody'll save the day and save the w w E.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
I think that's what they're gonna do.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
I hate this, I know, I know you do, and
I'm not a big huge fan of it either, but
I think they're gonna wins. Okay, see you heard it here.
Cm Punk the victor that John. He wants you to
bet all your money on cmpunk. Maybe put a couple
bucks on that and then cover that bet with some
(25:59):
of the other ones that we went through earlier today
AE w Grand Slam Mexico. First of all, the elevation
there is crazy and the pollution is crazy. So shout
out to every wrestler who was able to wrestle longer
than three minutes, because that is like going to Denver
to play basketball and you see guys in the first
quarter just just dying because they can't handle that altitude. Man,
(26:24):
So shout out to all those long ass matches that
we had. We watched Mercedes Money. She has won everything.
Every single podcaster in the world is giving her the
Female Wrestler of the Year. And the only thing I
can think of is because her matches are awesome, Like
she when she's healthy, and she's been healthy since she
got into aw she had her injury in Japan. Her
(26:46):
matches are awesome and she's an awesome wrestler. My only
thing is I haven't seen a story written for her,
not a real story written for her yet, which is disappointing.
Not on her part that's on the company to give
compelling stories. But every single one of her matches has
been awesome. You know, she's gonna win, which isn't always
(27:08):
the best, but her athleticism kind of lets all that
stuff slide. I just wish there was a storyline where
I believed she was actually gonna lose that belt or
one of her thirty seven belts at some point. And
I've never thought she was gonna lose anything even once.
So that's that's my only beef with it. But that's
not beef with her. That to me is my beef
(27:28):
with aew. I wish they would give her a more
compelling story like they've given Tony Storm amazing stories, like
she had that Mariah May storyline, which was awesome. Maria
May now in WWE with some other name. Ria May
was a cooler name than whatever they picked. Yeah, so
I want a little bit more of a story there.
But she came in. She will be Wrestler of the
Year in most people's eyes, and that's deserved just from
(27:49):
her matches alone. Jeff, what do you think about all
the love that she's getting right there?
Speaker 4 (27:55):
I mean, I maybe it just feels because aw isn't
operating at the level that WWE has been that I
feel like I don't see much of any of the
women's division over there. Like I feel like when I
watch the show, it's kind of an afterthought. Two is
(28:16):
what it seems like on the program. They're talking about
all the other things the entire show, but then then
all of a sudden, then you see a women's match
and you go, oh, this is I don't know. I
just feel like they're not investing unless it's Tony Storm.
I feel like Tony Storm, you'll see a lot of
things that are them plugging her, plugging whatever's coming up
with her. But I feel like it's nothing, nothing, nothing.
(28:39):
And then Mercedes Monet match or Mercedes mone promo, and
I'm like, I wasn't even keeping up, so it could
be a Jeff thing, but it feels like it just
doesn't get much eyes or doesn't get much attention.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
Hang Man Adam Paige open the show and shocked me
and a lot of other people because apparently hang man
Adam Paige speaks damn near fluent Spanish. I mean, that
was so impressive and such a smart way to start
that show and get the crowd hyped and excited and
(29:14):
make the crowd feel respected and make them feel like
it was a part of the show for him to
go out there a white dude and cut a Spanish promo,
a babyface promo to a Spanish crowd, a cowboy, a
caballero and went out there. And I mean, like, at
first the crowd was hyped, and then it's not that
the energy died. They just started listening because they were like,
(29:37):
oh he oh, he's just not starting the show with
like being nudo's like it wasn't like he just kept
going and talking to them and telling him a real
story about him and his life and what he's been
through like it was. It was wild man. So it
was really really smart. It's the first this is weird,
but it was the first promo that I was really
(29:58):
into that I've seen hang in page cut because a
lot of times I see him yelling and screaming without
a unique motivation to.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
Warrant it right.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
It's always just like I want the title, I want
that title, And this was different. This humanized him to
me anyway on a different level and has got me
pulling for him to win the championship against Moxley. I
think he's gonna win anyway, but I want him to
win now. I was like, Yo, Adam freaking Page Man,
Like that was awesome. I like that a lot. Hangman,
(30:30):
Page I'll call him. It was really cool. It was
just really cool, and I thought it was a special
promo and a special night in wrestling. And I don't
know if it's gotten the love it deserves. It probably has,
but I hope it's been getting the flowers it deserves
because he brought it. He kicked ass, and that's hard
as hell to do. When you see people speaking in
their secondary language, like all the Japanese wrestlers in WWE,
(30:52):
or the Latinos that are over there and it's a
second language and they're able to cut a promo that
you can connect with, like that's a major accomplishment. Like
same as when you see actors that are able to
communicate in a second language at a high level, or
a stand up comedian where English isn't their first language
but they can still pull off a high level joke
and make an English crowd laugh, Like that's that's so
freaking hard to do. So when it's done, I wanted
(31:14):
to get the attention it deserves.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
What'd you think? I loved it?
Speaker 4 (31:17):
And also I think it's a good little message for
all the other wrestlers in AW and WB and maybe
even in the indies or whatever. It's like, you've got
to find little ways to constantly have moments that people
talk about. You know, you've got to reinvent yourself. You've
got to stay in the conversation. And this was a
(31:39):
great way that Adam Page was able to show people
a different thing he can do and win people over.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Like it's it's those moments.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Where people go, oh, that's you know, there should be
a way that everyone's talking about it, you know, and
this was a great example of another way to do it.
You know, you don't have to like necessarily have ken
those sticks shoved through your eyeballs to get everyone to
talk about the match that night. You know, you can
find little ways to show everyone how good you are
(32:09):
and how talented you are and kind of you know,
give yourself some heat.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
That's today's show.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
People stay tuned for Unsanctioned Thursdays, where we're gonna get
into all the questions that you guys have throughout the season.
You get a chance to ask us. We got a
lot of them, so we'll get into as many as
we can. Jeff, tell the people where you're gonna be
at this weekend.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
This weekend West Palm Beach, Florida, and the at the
Cravis Center, and then I'll be at the Key West
Theater in Key West.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
And if you're in LA, you can see him at
the Comedy Store. Mister Jeff, I'm mister Freddy. Let's tune
in tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
