Speaker 1 (00:00):
On today's episode of News, we're talking about GTA six,
We're talking about Xbox price hikes, we're talking about Sinners
re releasing on Imax, and lots of other stuff. Hello,

(00:28):
my name is Jason, accepts you and I'm Rosday Night,
and welcome back to x Ravision, the podcast where we
dive deep into your favorite shows, movies, comics of pop culture.
Company O from my Heart podcast where we're bringing you
three episodes a week every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, plus game.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
And this is the news episode in today's Previously on
we are catching up on the biggest peak news of
the week, and believe it, it was a lot GTA six.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
There's gonna be a lot more stuff that we get before.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
GTA six, Let's put it that way, because it's not
coming out till twenty twenty six. Also gonna be talking
about that Sinners Imax re released because there is a
lot of controversy about Sinnas giving up all its sold
out screens to the Thunderbolts this weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
But first news, folks, It's been long awaited. There have
been leaks on the way towards waiting for this game announcement,
and here it is. The announcement has happened. Grand Theft
Auto six is coming in one year, alleged May twenty six,
twenty twenty six. From the announcement quote, we are very

(01:27):
sorry that this is later than you expected. The interesting
excitement surround a new Grand Theft Atolwa has been truly
humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you
for your supporting your patients as we work to finish
the game. Now. I think there were some theorizing that
we would see this like summer of twenty two.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Yes, I it was kind of it was kind of
expected that the game would come out in twenty twenty
five and it would dominate game of the year, it
would be the big game.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
So this this kind of opens it up a little
bit more.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
There's Aaron put some great notes in here, like there's
some been some big hits already, Split Fiction totally came out,
Just Kill It, Kingdom, Come Deliverance two. Lots of conversation
about that expedition thirty three. So maybe we're going to
have another kind of balatro ish year where some unexpected
stuff comes. Most important question, Jason Wins of Winter GTA six,
Which one's gonna come out?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
First, I clearly GTA. I think my question is, you know,
usually in the past GT has released at the at
the end of a life cycle of whatever consoles are out.
This feels like very very late in that potential life cycle.
So that'll be interesting. Like you would expect by May

(02:36):
twenty six.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
We would be knowing what the next we PlayStation, next.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Gen would be. Yeah, it would be looming. So that's
it's quite interesting. Up next tariffs. Microsoft is raising prices
on Xbox consoles, controllers, and games worldwide, and you would
expect this to happen. It's gonna happen to the board
in the space, whether it's PC games, whether it's PlayStation games,
whether it's Nintendo hard where in games, et cetera. Microsoft

(03:02):
announced that the Xbox Series X will go up one
hundred bucks five ninety nine to six hundred dollars. Basically,
games will cost eighty bucks with a ten dollars price hike.
And you know it's it's the tariffs, baby.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
That's the teriff. Everything's gang expensive.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Now if you're gang stuff from other countries, it's gang expensive.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
That's the tariff.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Life Jason, Xbox X Series X is it what six
hundred dollars, Donna said.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Nonna Donna said, no, I you know, I'll say this.
I think that the Xbox actually is a wonderful value proposition.
I do have it. I think that their Xbox it's
called Xbox game.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Pass, right, Yeah, you get a lot of games with
the game Pass.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
I yeah, I think that Xbox Game Pass is actually
a wonderful service with like really really great titles as
well worth having. It's just tough because this is so
unnecessary even it's like overall is self inflicted.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Really, dumbing of the.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Deal is tough to live through because it's always the
worst deal than the deal was before.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
The art of the deal is you're broke, Yeah, exactly,
which people are richer. Let's take a break.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Yes, perfect timing, and.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
We're back Polygon. Listen, we've both been in media along time,
and this is the life cycle of media, particularly digital media.
Some cool site rises with.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Incredible, inevitably independent talent that brings people, the talented.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Staff, and is inevitably sold to somebody who then breaks
it apart into little pieces and then it's gone. And
then all of that talent disperses to another site which
rises and then is destroyed in the similar exactly to
that end. Polygon has been sold to private equity firm Valnet,
and many people have been fired. Yes, quote from an

(05:15):
article on Kataku by Chris Plante, I am no longer
with Polygon. Quote from the article quotes Polygon's Chris Plante,
I am no longer with Polygon. If you're hiring, please
consider the many talented writers and editors now on the market.
Every one of them deserves a spot on your staff.
I won't be talking more about the sale because I
wasn't involved. Going to hang out with my kid taking

(05:36):
wins word.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Also, a Chris Plante was the co founder of Polygon,
so that should give you an insight into how big
this is.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
I was very lucky to write Polygon. It was one
of my career goals.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
When I first started writing about comics. So I did
a post about this yesterday. But the incredible Susanna Polo,
who is one of the comics critics that I really
looked up to, she reached out to me in twenty
twenty asked me if I wanted to review a really
fun movel event called Empire, and from there.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
I got to do all kinds of incredible pieces there.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
This is the thing that people don't really understand about
what we're losing when we lose somewhere like Polygon. Polygon
is a gaming site and it's one of the few
really positive, like inclusive gaming sites, but it was also
somewhere where they were not afraid of like imagination.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
So I did everything. I did a super research piece.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
That took months about the harm of the exploitative nature
of comic book contracts and how they were injuring people
after the comics broke me hashtag. But I also got
to write like a history of the cinematic stoner and
why Shaggy was like the archetype for the cinematic stoner
in slasher movies.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Like, there was so much fun to be had. There
so many incredible editors.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Every editor I worked with made me a better writer,
and every single one of them has been laid off.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Also just some vowndneck context. They own so many sites.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
They own CBR, they own comic book dot com, they
own Collider and many more game spot I believe as well.
And there was recently an article on The Rap that
talked about how bound networks. So I'm in a quote
from The Rap, this is from the rap who Bownett
is currently suing. So I am not saying this, only
the rap is saying this. When Bounett takes over a

(07:15):
fan site, the playbook is well established. Employees are replaced
by contractors, compensation plummets, and writers who can plain land
on a blacklist that blocks them from working for bound
net sites altogether. And that is you know, that's what
the rap said about Boundett, And I will say when
I worked at Pollagon and I was pitching recently on
murder Bot, I mean, I was sure I would still

(07:35):
be working there, but my editors are now gone. They
paid incredibly fair money that you could actually live off
for writing an article, which is very rare, and one
of the true things about Bownett and the many people
who worked there is that is not the case. So yeah,
this is a really sad loss. But as Jason said,
this is also the nature of these sites.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
This is the reality.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
I have been waiting for all the freelance sites I
write at to be bought by round Theet, and this
is why one of the last ones to go. So
Hologon's amazing support those writers. Same with the Daily Dot.
I know they just had a bunch of layoffs. Support
those writers. If you need writers, hire them, reach out
to them, go on LinkedIn.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
And that's not even it.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
There was another gaming site that was kind of torn
apart this weekend too. It's been a lot, So just
support those writers and keep reading what we do, and
also find different ways to support them through patreons or
newsletters or whichever way you can kind of directly go
to those writers because they're still here. We're still trying
to do the drop. It's just harder and harder in

(08:35):
a digital media landscape.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Sinners continues to hit crazy answers, seeing very little drop
in box office week to week, and because of that,
movie theaters are and Warner Brothers are looking to capitalize
on the popularity and put it back into Imax because
only a limited release in Imax before coming out. Put

(08:57):
it back into IMAX for the week of May fifteenth
to the twenty first. Ye Now this is somewhat controversial
because that also conflicts with the release of Thunderbols, which
was going to be an Imax. Is only a limited
number of IMAX screens across the country.

Speaker 2 (09:12):
That's why Thunderbolts comes out this weekend and all the
IMAX screens are going over to Thunderbolts, but as viewers
and Internet netizens noticed, the Thunderbolt screenings were not as
full as the Sinner's screenings and as I'm guessing, distributors
not as two and cinema owners, so it looks like

(09:33):
they're giving Marvel a two week exclusive slot, which is
probably what they Disney paid for. And then now fifteenth
twenty first it will go back to Sinners. But interestingly,
and this may have changed, yesterday when those tickets were released,
they crashed the AMC app which apparently has never happened,
and as far as we know, most of them are
already sold out. So I think we could see an

(09:55):
extended run of Sinners going in kind of like everything ever,
all at once, going into the award season, and they
are extending.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
If you live in La and I know we are
blessed here because we not only.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
Have Yeah, we're very very blessed. It's not fair.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
We not only have a true IMAX at the Seawalk,
but we also have the Vista Quentin Tarantinos newest cinema acquisition.
They are extending their run of seventy mil So if
you do want to see it in seventy mil You
can go to the Vista and you can see it
at a daytime matinee and it will not be sold
out even though all the evening screenings are. I'm just
so happy that this movie is getting the love it deserves.

(10:30):
And also, like whatever you think about the quality of
the movie, even though it is universally kind of quite beloved,
I just love that this is making people excited to
go to the cinema and specifically excited to go and
see large format movies.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Because all movies get an IMAX release.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
If they're a big blockbuster movie, maybe they'll have a
couple of scenes shot for Imax, you know. The Thunderbolts
definitely fits into that. But this is a movie where
people want to see it on Imax because of the
way that it was made, and I think that is
how we should be approaching getting more people into the cinema.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
Is it an event?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Was it something specifically crafted for you to experience on
this huge screen? And Coogler made that very clear. So yeah,
it's been controversial that The Thunderbolts is going to be
in there. I'm hoping that we will see a push
of Sinners audiences to multiple other screens.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
It's still great.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
I saw it at the Alamo draft House. Tiny screen
was just as enjoyable as on the giant screen. Coogler
cut it for everyone. So yeah, I'm very excited to
see where this heads, and also to see what that
Sinner's drop off is gonna look like without the premium format,
because the truth is that had a four point eight
percent drop off last week.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
In the end, it ended up that's unheard of. That's
kind of unheard of.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
It's unheard of. It's literally just Avatar.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
That's like tight, that's like Titanic type like type drop off.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Avatar is the first Avatar was like a one point
eight percent Titanic the movie by the way, that the yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
You know, the actual drop not the actual type, but
the Titanic film, which which famously had leg.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Yeah, we're the only person that they have to beat
is James Cameron because he has a one point six
percent drop on Avatar. But also Avatar has released at Christmas,
that is way easier to get a smaller drop. So Ryan,
you're killing it. I'm really proud of this movie.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
I freaking love it.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Everyone keep going.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
I love the.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Discord support for it and now put on your spoiler
earmuffs if you do not want to hear the wild
ramblings of an x meng genius that may impact the MCU.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Hold on quick, grape about the vista. Figure out your
concession line. That's all I'm gonna say.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
Oh my gosh, please do you got.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
To figure out the concession line Vista. Love the theater,
It's beautiful, Love the art Echo style inside Quentin. You
did a wonderful job. The concession line I can cut
is a mess anyway. Spoiler spoiler spoiler big MCU, potential
big MCU spoilers about Avengers Doomsday via nonamics, legend, uncanny

(12:58):
x men legend Chris clint Man, Chris Claremont, who at
the Huntsville Pop Culture Expo this.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Year is just always going on stage and say it's
a wild stuff. We've covered it before, but right now
he's out there just allegedly spilling THEBCU be He.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Went on a a unhinged claremontyan rant at the Huntsville
Pop Culture Expo claiming, among other things, and again spoiler
warning that Scarlet which is returning in Doomsday that was
not announced. No chair for Scarlet Witch.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
But I have to say, on the spectrum of true
or not true, I'm saying that's true.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
We always said that there's gonna be surprises and people
who were not in the chairs. Not only that, but
Chris Evans will be returning to plain evil Captain America.
Hopefully not the hydro Nazis.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
Oh God, I hope not.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
But honestly, again, on the scale of true to not true,
it's leaning true to me because we know that Robert
Downey Junior will be playing multiple characters probably, so I'm
saying this.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
The true meter is in the middle on this one,
but it could be true.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Funca Johnson will be turning to reprise her role as
Jean Gray.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
You know what, I would love to see it. That's crazy,
but it would make sense.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Also, Chris Clamont, he was in those old he was
doing cameos in those old X Men movies.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Maybe they stayed in touch. Who knows. The truth meter
is swelling.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
The Fantastic Four has been active for three years before
the events of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie Wait, which
I think.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
I think that he is talking about in the When
we see the Fantastic Four in the new movie, they
will have been active for about three years, which is
kind of in their dimensions in their dementia, because as
the trailers have I mean this one, I feel like
he could have just guessed from the trailers as the
trailers kind of revealed they already got their powers. Now
they're active, that makes sense. This was my favorite alleged thing.

(14:55):
Apparently he like revealed the height of Galactus, which like, sir,
what do you mean, Like, what are you talking about,
Christopher clear Mountain?

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Like, get on, GM with it, come on, you really
are okay. I also love this one, and I'm gonna
say this ironically.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
Is I just want to say that this is so
wearying to me, but like, yes, yes, fine, It's like.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
One of those really weird ones where he was basically like,
Silock's gonna return, but she's not gonna be Asian.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
That in itself sounds like an insane It sounds like
an insane thing to say.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
But what he is probably talking about is, if you
know the history of Silock, there is a weird thing
of her and Betsy Braddock and they're basically like in
the same body, and Bet has been in her body
and recently in the Hickman X Men, they were split
into two characters. Thank god, finally, so what he But

(15:48):
I don't think that they would be stupid enough to
do a white Silock.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
I think first of all, they never Here's the thing
Siloc was. Siloq was originally Betsy Brader, Captain Britten's sister,
right with the telepathic skills. Then for reasons unclear, became
became an Asian character, and then they had to ret
kind of reason that this happened, leading to, as you mentioned,

(16:14):
this split of the two characters that said he and
the ethnicity of Silak in the comics has been a
very complicated situation that is remains unclear how it happened.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
But it's funny hearing it's.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Honestly, this is classic Clamont because what you know, what
one of our super producers put in here was like,
you know, he's not involved in the making of the film.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
He's not necessarily saying anything true. How does he know?

Speaker 2 (16:43):
But I will say Chris Clamont has for a long time.
We don't know if he's still on it, but for
a long time he's on. He was on this essential
like million dollar a year contract where he just wouldn't
write for DC, but he would occasionally come back and
do something for Marvel, right, so he is still very
involved in some ways. And if that bringing the X
men in, I wouldn't be surprised if he is, if

(17:05):
he's on the council or something, or if he's hearing
stuff from other people. But this is this is why
you can't tell this man anything. He's always coming on
stage saying something silly, embarrassing people.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
But Chris, if you want to come on all podcasts.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
And say something, please and reveal some secrets, come on.

Speaker 3 (17:20):
We'll we'll have you man, We'll have you.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
