The rumor mill is churning as a new era of Bond takes shape under Amazon’s ownership. Tom Holland might have let slip that he’s in the running for the iconic role, and Steven Knight is officially attached as a writer. Plus, Sony is suing Tencent over their copy-cat Horizon Zero Dawn game, and The Naked Gun might be the comedy movie of the summer.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
On this episode of news, we're talking about the Spider Man,
Brand New Day teaser and more.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
It's news.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Hello, my name is Jascon Sepsion on Roseay Night, and
welcome back to ext Revision, the podcast where we dive deep.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
It's your favorite shows.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Movies, comments, and pop culture company Romyra podcast, where're bringing
you three episodes a week plus news.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
In today's previously on episode, we are catching up on
the biggest deep news of the week, including Denny Villa news,
new James One movie gets a rite and looking serious,
and this a bit of a big hit at the
box office. It looks like let's talk about it.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Let's talk about it. First headline, Sony has teased a
brand new Spider Man costume in part of the basically
the first bit of content that we're getting about Brand
New Day. Now you can't you can really see very
little of it, but it looks to be textured, textured,

(01:14):
classic red and blue kind of color scheme.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
And Toby Maguire's got a little bit of raised, yes,
raised kind of webbings on that, so that's interesting.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
We of course know that this film per Kevin Feigey,
is going to be more of the street level old
school Spider Man fighting crime fighting villains who one would
surmise art don't have like the destruction of the world
like in mind. It will feature Sadie Sink in a
role yet to be revealed and be directed by destined

(01:48):
Daniel Cretin. Here is also Shawn Chief Fame, who's also
eping wonder Man. I'm very excited, and you just dropped
a link in the news right before we rolled tell
us about this.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Yeah, I love this so much because this is obviously
the big Tom Holland news today. We love to see
the suit. It's gonna be Punisher, It's gonna be Sadie Sink,
Who's she going to be very exciting. But as much
as I really can't wait to see Punish her and
Spider Man together, there was an interesting news drop just
before we started, which is I gotta read you guys
the headline because it's so funny. This is like so
twenty twenty five Spider Man star Tom Holland breaks silence

(02:24):
on James Bond rumors while making a spicy fried chicken
sandwich with Gordon Ramsey. So yes, there has been lots
of rumors that Tom Holland will be James Bond, and
he did a little choy response. When Gordon Ramsey asked
him about it, he said, listen, there's speculation at the minute.
Will keep it to a minimum now and then Ramsey

(02:45):
was like, you think and Holland said, we'll get there
one day. So the implication people are taking is like
he's in the bigs wee, he's in the mix, you know,
And he said as a British star, this is a
dream role that would definitely fit in I think with
this idea of a young Bond, if they're really going
to go that way. Obviously, as super producer Joelle pointed out,

(03:07):
we're already in a situation where there is Tom Holand
has had a lot of chances post Spider Man to
establish himself. Hasn't necessarily hit that way yet, but he is,
in my opinion, one of the great Spider Man choices.
Maybe the same could be said of Bond. Maybe he's
matured a little bit, even if he is short. I
would love to see Bond if they do Tom Holland

(03:28):
James Bond, I'm like, just commit and cast sendare as
the Bond girl and then maybe I'll be interested. But yes,
very intriguing. Who short to be Bond, that's question question
mark perhaps, but also if they really want him to
be playing young like he's eighteen, could happen. I also
think Tom Holand's one of the most famous British actors

(03:50):
in the world, so they're probably just he's in the mix.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Will it happen?

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Yeah, low angles, high shoes, Yeah. Robert and e Junior
style would be interesting to see.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Speaking of Gen's Bond.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
Stephen Knight is our new writer for the James Bond movie.
Steph Knight is a creator of Peaky Blinders on Netflix.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
Peaky Blinders Mate.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
So I would say Peaky Blinders, we've seen it. It's
very bleak, very serious. I'd say this is giving us
a hint at the tone. It's definitely not very British,
not going to be moving away from the Daniel Craig
kind of stoic nature. I would say it feels very much.

(04:32):
I mean, who knows. Maybe we're going to get a
period Bond. I would say a period piece Bond would
be interesting, especially if you're going back to when he
was a teenager.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
That would be really cool.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Agent makes sense because you don't want to have too
much like mobile phones and the Internet. That can really
add some wrinkles to your spycraft. So I would be
interested to see it. I think this is an interesting pick.
I would be interested also to see how Villainew works
with Steven Night. Is that going to be a good collaboration?
Does Villa and I always need to be the full visionary?

(05:06):
I don't know, but yeah, I'm interested to see this
new James Bomb movie. Will Tom Holland be in it?
Will yet to see. We'll probably find out at some
point in the next year or so.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Let's take a quick break and be read back. Yeah,
and we're back. Sony is suing Tencent video game behemoth

(05:41):
Tencent over their latest game called Motoram, alleging that it
is a blatant ripoff of their Horizon Zero, Dawn IP
and series of video games. And if you, you know,
click on the article on Polygon or anyplace else that

(06:03):
is reporting on this, I think they have a case, yes.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Especially because one of the things that I always think
is really funny about these kind of cases is there
is often a story like this, which there is in
this story, which is Tencent had approached them in twenty
twenty four, yep through it. Aurora Studios with a proposal
to work on a mobile Horizon spinoff game, but the
Japanese company declined, and that led into a kind of

(06:34):
situation where that makes it even harder, I think to
argue that this was not supposed to be obviously connected
to the Horizon's Eroedorn franchise, which I love very fun.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
I love it as well. There is I mean when
you look at you can look at the filing online
and they have a side by side of various pieces
of key art from the Horizon franchise and then from
Light of Monoram the promotional material for Lighter monor m
and it is, Yeah, they have a strong case because

(07:07):
the character designs, the color grading, the art style, the
style of the enemies. It's pretty nuts, how like they
just lifted it seemingly bar for bar based on their trailer.
So it'll be interesting to see where this goes. This
is a this is a international copyrights are an area

(07:31):
of significant conflict, and it'll be interesting to see where
this one goes. And then finally, new movie Alert The
Naked Gun. Oh, the reboot of the Naked Gun series
from the eighties that was itself a full movie length

(07:53):
adaptation of the police story television program. Commit, a television
program starring Leslie Nielsen, has opened, and it's open with
an opening with a ninety one percent tomatometer, including an
eighty seven percent popcorn meter. Has a forty two million
dollar budget and is currently slated to open about fifteen

(08:18):
to seventeen million for this opening weekend. This is directed
and written I believe by The Lonely Islands Ye Yourma
tocone and stars Liam Neeson and pam Anderson who are
having a romance.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
They're having a burbat. They've been a great press tour
with that romance.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
And we love our makeup list, free makeup, Free, beautiful
Bay Pamela Anderson. I love that she's getting this renaissance.
I'm very happy for her. Also, I'm hearing that the
hit rate for this movie is like exceedingly high when
it comes to kind of jokes per minute. And also
as well, I have to say I believe that because
I've I'm a fan of The Lonely Island. And if

(08:56):
you have never seen pop Star Never Stop Poppin, you
will if you've seen that movie by the Lonely Island,
very underrated movie, you will know that the hit rate
for jokes in that movie is like a joke a
second and yea all bangers. So I'm intrigued, to say
the least. And I'm guessing, let's do a little bit.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Of a box office let's do it. Guess yeah, pree occation.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
I think this is going to open close. It's a
twenty four million. I think the word of mouth is good.
I think it's going to open to around half the budget.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
I think so too. And I think that there is
some multi generational appeal with older fans of the original
Naked Gun series and Police Squad wanting to see this
and then dragging their kids along, and younger fans who
might be like the kind of Lonely Island imprompt kind

(09:46):
of branding on this. I also think, you know, we
need a comedy. There's not we do a lot out there.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Any comedies you succeed it is, It's not.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
A it's not a great period for comedies at the
box office. But that said, forty two million, very modest budget.
I'm gonna say, I also think it's gonna OutKick the coverage,
but I think it's gonna be more modest. I think
twenty on the dot, twenty one in there.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
We shall see, We shall see.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
On next week's episodes of extra Vision, We're diving into
