Speaker 1 (00:00):
Warning today's episode today's spoilers for gen V season two,
Hades two, and the new Paul Thomas Anderson movie One
Battle Left or Another. You warn't Hello, It was Jason Concepcion
(00:27):
and I'm Rady Night and welcome to x RGC, our
weekly roundtable with our producers or special guests talk about
all the things that we are watching and excited about
right now.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
In today's episode, we are going to start with the
gen B mid season check in the discord has been
watching it, We have been watching it, and we have thoughts.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
We'll do a brief recap, and then we will talk
about where the show is going to go in the
second half of the season.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
We will also invite super producer Common and super produce
our on to have a Hades two conversation as those
who have been playing it and they've got thoughts. And
Segment three, well, it's me interviewing Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio
del Toro from Who One Battle after another and we
(01:15):
get into some that's a very dad core movie, so
I went for some dad core questions and then thank
Galactus's Friday, We're going to share the most.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
The things we're most excited about this weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
But first gen v Rosie take us through it.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Well, okay, so episode four we left off with episode three,
and the end of episode three was that Jordan and
Marie were going to have to fight in front of
the school, and that is established with a very sillily.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Named gender bender versus the blood Bender. We're starting to
crazy big bout.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
They're running the school like it's a UFC match and
they only have one option, fight or go back to Elmira,
the torture camp that they spent a year in. Cipher
is training Marie and reveals to her that the university
godolkin You was literally started just to create the most
powerful superhero via the Odessa project, So Marie is really
(02:14):
there and could become the next Homelander in Cipher's mind.
Marie realizes, thanks to her new blood bending skills that
he's taught her, that Cipher doesn't have any compound V
in his blood, making them think that he is a human.
So they break into his office. They find out that
he has a burnt to a crisp old Man living
in a hyperbaric chamber. I believe the resounding theory right
(02:38):
now is that maybe Thomas Godoalkin aka Ethan, Tommy aka
Tommy G.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Tommy G. You know Bock Woodsman.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
We think that may be him another unexpected Kate team
up because they realize, like, oh, we really can't take
this guy down without Kate. Kate's like, a, I can't
push this guy. Every time I get near to him,
something happens. We saw him try and blend her hand,
but you know what, She's gonna give it a go.
Emma brings in her new friends, Harper and Ali, who
have very funny powers. We've got Ali who has the
(03:07):
power to use her pubic hair like moducer, and the inhumans.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
It's incredible.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Christina walked in while I was watching the Plassan where
she's using her powers, you know, during the fight and
to like turn off the liquid and the pipe. Huh
she what the fuck?
Speaker 2 (03:34):
No, truly, it is an ultimate what the fuck is
this moment? Because the way that Emma decides to go
to undercover is she gets really tiny and she sneaks
into his toilet and Cipher is literally about to like
poop on her, and they sneak a camera into his
office catch him on camera, and as we learn, he
is already ten steps ahead, it's way too far behind.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
We learn that Cyprus does have powers.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
And his powers and he can literally project into someone's
mind and body, easily taking them over, essentially like puppeteering them,
which he does to Jordan. During the match Jordan and
Marie fight, Jordan aka Cipher.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Is beating the shout of Marie, so Marie almost kills Jordan.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
The episode ends with the God You crowd screaming Marie's
name and the GENV kids realizing like they're up against
a way more powerful foe than they had already thought.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
Episode five bomb.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Due to her betrayal and you know, reconnection with her
old besties, Kate is put in Elmira by Cipher.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
Huge reveal that And.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
This is kind of interesting because I believe we were
talking about Sister Sage when we talked about this last time,
but we see here that Cipher and Sister Sage are
not only.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Working together Bump bump bum.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
I saw a lot of people wanting to know what
would go on with Sage after she was established as
like the smile superhero in this universe. It's very clear
that the two of them are scheming. They're fucking we
don't really know what they want yet, but it seems
like some kind.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Of takeover of Vat is what we're something.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yes, because we see that like war angling to take
down Homelander, and we learned she.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Is not working there anymore.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Something bad happened to her, so they've got there's a
bit of a power vacuum, a vaught Marie, Jordan, and
Emma decide, I swear to God if the amount of
times these guys risk themselves for Kate. They decided it's
point yes Kate, even though she has put them in
jail many times. Like I get it, you guys are
sweet kids, but come on. They tried to enlist Sam.
(05:33):
Emma is like, hey, you know, want to help save
Kate and He's like, no, she's been wiping my memory.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
I need to go home.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Sam heads home, terrifies his parents, and in what I
think is one of the most interesting threads going through
this season, we learn just as we learn.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
We loarn this with Marie, we've learned it with Jordan.
We we learned that.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Sam already had genetic mental health issue because of his family.
His uncle struggled with hallucinations and mental health issues, and
they tried to use Compound V to kind of fix that.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
So there's an interesting thread going on this.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
Season of We thought the reason that these people were
struggling with these traumas was because of the Compound V,
but actually they're just fucked up like the rest of us,
and they are in a crazy situation. Speaking of crazy situations, Polarity,
the father of Andre who has died at the end
of last season in this canon, now is investigating Cipher
(06:32):
and his connections.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Cipher basically like shows.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Off to him and says, yeah, doever you want, man,
like it's gonna be fine. Polarity tries to use a
knife because he has magneto powers to cut the Dean's throat,
but what we see instead is Ciper stabs the knife
through his own hand, kind of highlighting I think how powerfull.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
He is, how little pain he feels, and also just he.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Seems to be an unbeat ball villain for our bad guys.
So Elmira, the kids planned to save Kate and guess
what they've back in jail.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Now.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
This was a choice where when I first watched this episode,
I was like, Okay, where are we going with this
Guy's Like, are we just going to be repeating what
happened in the first season, but luckily they get out
of El Mira very fast, and really it's all to
set up the big reveal at the end of this episode,
which is that Kate came up with a plan to
(07:29):
use one of the staples from her head where she
has a traumatic brain injury from her friends trying to
kill her because it's that show, and she uses one
of the staples to pick the locks and help her
friends get free. But as always, Cyprus like five steps
ahead and he has a trick up his sleeve.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
He has actually kidnapped Marie's estrange.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Sister, Annabeth, who's been the person that she is looking
for and searching for throughout her years at the Dolkin
and also prior to that when she was in like
super hero Juvie. And now he says to Marie, well, yes,
you're gonna have to do what I want or else
I'm gonna kill your sister. And Marie he's like, now
you got to understand, I'm a powerful soup. Now I
(08:08):
know how.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
To do this stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
So they escape, they'reabout to go and get her sister,
and we see that her sister is dead throat slit
across the floor like incredibly brutal, horrible moment.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
And of course, if.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
You've been watching gen Z you will know why this happened,
and it is because the one thing that Marie has
been trying to do and has been hinted at that
she can do throughout season one and season two is
that she can bring somebody back to life by using
their blood to pump around their body again and she
can heal them. And it has never fully happened, and
(08:43):
at different times they have decided to not do it.
They did it with Kate, they did it with another
person in the season before when they just left Deanon
de Raschetti when she could have saved her. But here
she actually manages to, through her trauma, through her powers,
get the blood back into her sister's body, heal her,
(09:03):
and her sister is resurrected, and we now know Cipher
has got what he wants, resurrection. He wanted her to
be able to bring I'm guessing Soups back to life.
And yeah, that's the end of season to episode five
of gen V Jason, what are your feelings now?
Speaker 3 (09:23):
We are halfway through this season.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
This show is good. I here are my kind of
random thoughts. Yes, I agree with you. Why do we
keep saving Kate? That's one of my main takeaways.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
I scream and every single time, just send her back.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
She's not send her back. She's so much wrong and
every time she tries to do something correctly or right,
she blows it anyway, gets.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
It absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
This two, I was shocked at how clean shaven Cipher's ass,
dick and balls were.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
Dude, I I I.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
It left me. It's kind of like, do you know,
like the broken windows theory, Like the broken windows the
semi discredited criminal theory that if you allow one broken
window to go unfixed, then like.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
All of me, I hit a lot as a neighborhood
council member.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Jason, so yes, I do know about it.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
His ass, balls and taint remind me of the broken
windows theory and that it seems like the message I'm
getting is there's a lot of activity in these areas.
Too much activity for a guy who's like running a school.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
I know it was he up to like him in stage,
I guess, just like spending all the time banging in
the office, Like what's a correct.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
I mean, it's so not even any stubble I was shocked.
This another moment where Christina walked into the room and
was like, what the look right now?
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Exactly?
Speaker 2 (11:08):
This is actually very This is very thematically in line
with I went to see a really fun movie last
night called Bone Lake, and we will have an interview
with the director on here soon.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
It's a horror movie.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
The movie has within its first five minutes a full
on cock and ball scene, also incredibly shaven and kempt.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
I was like, and and an arrow goes right through.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
It's unbelievable, Like incredible opening for a movie.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
But I had the same thought when I was watching this.
I was like, men are.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Keeping it, keeping it. So it left me thinking, one,
what a Cipher up to? And two this has gotta
be a prosthetic, right or something, or maybe it's I
was wondering that just stunt taint.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Stunt taint, maybe the first time anyone's ever said that,
And then I'm proud of us.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
My other thought is if they are positioning gen v
is kind of like the and a story about another
evil organization that is a rival of uh, you know, Vaught,
that's really cool, Like it does seem to me that
(12:25):
Cipher and Stage think that Marie has the ability to
potentially take down not just resurrect soups, but I think
they think she can take down big soups, potentially Homelander.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
They want how to kill Homeland and that is my biggest
there and if they if they finally committed and actually
killed Homeland in the show, I would.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Please love that.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Please you guys, come on? So I was I like that.
I will say that the sage, the Sister Sage reveal,
it felt a little more. It felt a little more
disconnected than some of the other tians I am obviously,
I guess there's a lot to discover about this relationship,
(13:12):
but it just kind of left me feeling I agree.
I hope that there's more to this. That's what that felt.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Very moment Yes, yeah, I agree. How would you How
do you feel post off? First, you know, check in
You and Joe had a really great conversation about, you know,
the way they're using race, the way they're using you know,
kind of analogies and allegories. Do you feel like two
episodes more in that there's a little bit more complexity
(13:40):
there or are you still rubbing up against it and
wait and see where it goes?
Speaker 1 (13:43):
I mean, I'm still rubbing up against it, and it
feels as if it's not anything that's ever going to
be resolved. But the show is is enjoyable, nonetheless, but
it does feel like there's this undercurrent of what is
this all about? You know, boys, what are you saying?
What are you saying? What are you arguing? I think
(14:04):
the boys credibly dealt with what does it mean to
be a black superhero in this world? You know, in
a way that is such.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
An interesting, like kind of analogy for school football, yeah,
way that you know.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Performance enhancing drugs.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
There was definitely a lot of complexity that and I
do feel like here we're getting a bit more focused
just on like action, bombastic fight, silly schemes but not
necessary but so much but play you want to you
ever want to see a man popping his head out
of another man's.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Great news happened in this season? You've watched you maybe
it's already happened.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
This feels like the much more kind of pop show.
But that said, I'm really enjoying. I am quite enjoying
the show, But it does feel as if there's a
critique of kind of like, you know, modern right wing
nationalism yes, but not a lot of weight behind the critique.
(15:07):
It doesn't want to think about it too much. It
wants to merely be like, look at the clownish aspects
of this fascist society without kind of digging into the
relationships that underpin it. Which you know, your mileage may vary.
I guess it's yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:24):
No, I think that you make a really good point,
especially because there are moments in this season, especially where
it feels like it's like it's rubbing up against like
something profound, and if it just committed a little bit
more and made more of a statement, it may have
a bit more of that longevity and conversation inspiring techniques. Now,
(15:45):
I will say I'm very happy that our Discord is
getting into this season. I do think it is. Again,
we are in a year where we had and or
So it's very hard for us to not compare TV
to that because it set a new barrier for when
it comes to a kind of a new high point
for when it comes to Presso's TV, and also to
actually acting on what you're saying and telling a story
(16:08):
that gets people excited and makes people want to think
and explore real revolutionary movements.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Jenpi is not there, But you know what, I love
these kids. Okay, Jason.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
My other big question I think that everyone's thinking about
now is what do you think Ceipher's plan even is
this is like a recurring conversation, Everyone's.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
Like, how is it? How is this going?
Speaker 1 (16:30):
I think his plan. I think his plan is to
take over to either overthrow Vought, bring it down, kill Homelander,
wreck their team, and then supersede them with his own homegrown,
goodalkin grown collection of heroes that he can directly and
(16:53):
I mean directly.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
I mean like literally jump into that.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
Body directly control. So that's what I think he could do.
I was left wondering, also, can he not control Homelander?
Like could he not?
Speaker 3 (17:08):
That's what I'm wondering, Like, he can't get what are.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
The limits of this? We've seen him do it, and
he can. It seems as if he can do it
at range, But it also seems as if he has
to physically. He has to be able to see the person,
whether that's on TV or he's in the in the
space in the room with the person, he needs to
(17:32):
be able to see them. So yeah, I think it's
some sort of he wants to take power for himself
and for a Dolkin and to supersede Vaught. That's my theory.
What do you think do you think he can control Homelander?
Speaker 3 (17:46):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
I think they're gonna have to bring in a reason
why he can't, right, because otherwise that's one you're op
Why didn't you just kill him originally? You get into
that conversation. I also wonder if there is some kind
of action between him and Homelander, because, as Marie felt,
there wasn't any compound V in his blood.
Speaker 3 (18:06):
We haven't really.
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Met any naturalistic soups who didn't take compound B. That's
kind of the precipice in the whole conflict that the
boys begins with. So I'm interested to know about that,
Like is he was he born? Because it seems like
Homelander was another Project Odessa kind of situation alongside Marie.
Is he the unhappy like little brother? Is he the
(18:29):
son of Thomas Godalkin? Is that who he has in
his you know, hyperbaric chamber.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
I'm excited to see and you know what.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
I'm like, I hope that the last few episodes are
just really enjoyable because it's nice to have like a
crazy show.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
It's a fun it's a fun, fun, crazy show.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Yeah, I do wonder if it's too much butts at
this point though, Oh, have we reached maximum butts?
Speaker 2 (18:53):
I was gonna ask you, what do you think about that,
because I do feel like because of the nature of
the college setting. Yeah, you know, every season of The
Boys has like one crazy moment where you're like, oh
my god, they went inside somebody's dick and blew it
up or whatever, Like, sure, it's just crazy, but this movie,
this show has like multiple things like that in the
(19:14):
first episode because they're basically like kids are gross. Imagine
if you had a supero school that was full of
people who had weird powers, wouldn't they just be trying
to work out how they could like get.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Off on those powers. And I think that is a
relatively true representation of I agree.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
I was like, let's seek a quick break and we'll
be back to talk about Hades too, And we're back
(19:51):
for this segment Super produces Carmen and Aaron. You can
discuss Hades too.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
Carmen, I'm today to do a quick little breakdown of
a video game that just came out, Hades two, that
you and I are both playing quite a bit already,
I think safe to say.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
Safe to say, I'm addicted to Hades two at the moment.
It is taking over my life and my dogs are
not happy about it.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
So Hades two was on Early Access for a long
time already, I think over a year, but it just
came out on Switch and switch to. I've been playing
it on switch to. It runs beautifully. You've been playing
it on Switch one. You've been playing handheld on switch one, right.
Speaker 5 (20:35):
A lot of handheld on Switch one. Yes, I've only
played it on the TV actually a couple times, so,
but to me, the experience is still great. I find
it very enjoyable.
Speaker 4 (20:48):
So so far, what has been the thing in Hades
two that's impressed you the most? You played the original one?
Speaker 5 (20:53):
Right, absolutely? Yeah, yeah, And I will say, like, my
boyfriend has had the game on early Access since it
came out, and I've been watching him play, you know,
over I've been over his shoulder, like watching him play
for a long time now. So I'm really really happy
that this is finally on the switch And I think,
(21:17):
you know, I was really into the first game. I
put a lot of hours into the first game. I
didn't think that it could be improved upon that much.
You know, I thought the formula was great, but they
really surprised me here with what they gave us in
terms of just new characters, new designs. The gameplay is
(21:41):
still the same in a lot of ways, but there's
like some new additions that have made it more interesting
that I think we'll talk about more in a little bit.
But yeah, the my favorite things so far have been
I mean, it's no secret that I I'm a huge
fan of Witchy aesthetics. It's very on brand for me.
(22:05):
I love Banetta. That's one of my favorite game franchises.
And this to me. Aarin and I were talking about
this in text and I said, you said you were
playing this like what Aaron you were.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Playing in the beginning. I was playing this very much
like a Soulsbourne game, so very much relying solely on
attacks and dodging.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
Yes, And you were not correct.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
And that's how Hades one felt a little bit more
like that because you got the double dash, you could
dodge and then quickly dodge again. And this one of
the one of the differences gameplay wise here is you
have one dash, but then you hold it in sprint,
not the only difference by any means, but it does
lead to slightly different gameplay.
Speaker 5 (22:51):
Yes, it does, it does.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
I will say the thing that's impressed me the most
is very similarly to Hades won just the pure depth.
There definitely feels like three sections of the game. There
is a beginning section where you're just learning how to play,
and the entire goal is to make it to Chronos,
which is not a spoiler that Chronos is the main
boss and you just want to beat Chronos. That's the beginning.
(23:15):
The medium part of the game is taking the branching path,
and then the advanced part of the game is like
using the difficulty increasing modifiers and building really advanced things.
And I think that's the same as it was in
Hades one, and it is so well done here in
(23:36):
that every part of that feels thrilling, I think, and
that's really important in a roguelike game where you're doing
the same gameplay loop over and over and over again.
They did it so well in Haites one, and I
think they did it exactly as well in Hades.
Speaker 5 (23:54):
There's so much to unlock that you're never yes, you're
always upgrading your build, always enhancing your weapons and also
the you know locations when you do your incan. I
love the incantation like kind of so moted B, Yeah
it's yes, so moted B. Yes, it's perfect. So I
(24:19):
love everything they're doing with this game.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
So, speaking of Haites one and this being a direct
sequel to it, super Giant, the developer of the game
is this is their very first sequel, so they have
kind of been known for always wanting to pursue something
new and stretch themselves, and they basically said, like, we've
never done a sequel, so we are stretching ourselves by
trying to successfully do a sequel to a game. And frankly,
(24:43):
I think they did an incredible job and I would
play Haites three. I also would be thrilled to play
whatever the next game is that they develop, whether it
be closer to a Pie or Bastion or or Transistor whatever,
I'm thrilled to play any of them. But when you
compare this to Haiti, what When I look at sequels,
I like to think what's the same, what's different, what's better,
(25:05):
what's worse? So what do you think for Haities two
compared to Hades one? Same, different, better, worse?
Speaker 5 (25:12):
So I would say, of course, the game loop is
very similar, very same. I will say the bosses, they've
done a great job of changing up the even though
a lot of the I will say the enemies and
the bosses, they've added some variation to them that has
I feel like, made you use your different abilities. You're
(25:37):
casting your specials and your attack in more strategic ways.
I know that something that you and I had talked
about early on was that you weren't using your cast
at all. And I personally rely on a build that
is kind of heavy on the cast because I find
it's important for me to be able to pick off
(25:58):
like big groups of enemies while I find the larger,
big bad enemies on the stage. And so I love
for me that there's so many different ways that people
can approach playing a game like this, and approach the
different way to build stuff. So the other stuff I
(26:18):
would say that is also I would say for me
better wise, I love I love the asthetic more. They
improved that a lot more, and I feel like they
improved the unlockables. I don't remember Haiti's having this much unlockable,
this many unlockable abilities. I might be wrong, it's been
(26:39):
a few years since I've played the game. It's been
about as long as you've played the games for me.
But I feel like this is what I love about
certain certain styles of games where there's a lot of unlockables.
It's very fun for me to keep going and continue
to unlock and get stronger as I go.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
And they did that really well with the Arcanic cards. Yes,
and include increasing your grasp and.
Speaker 5 (27:05):
All the bones of your hand in your arm. That
is so.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Cool and graphically very cool every time you see her
and you see that arm. But like you can do
have very different builds before you even start the run,
just based off what cards you are using.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
Yes, because you can't use them all, so you do
have to choose you know which direction you want to go.
And same with like in the in the Haites when
you had your pendance I think they're called or I believe.
Speaker 6 (27:33):
But.
Speaker 5 (27:34):
You still have those, but you have like these Arcanic
cards on top of that, which gives you, I think,
a lot more variety with your build.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Yeah, and if you are listening and you have not
unlocked all of them, a good like beginner tip, if
you find one that you like, continue going in that direction.
Ycah the cards, the four corners all sort of are
based around a certain game and play mechanic. So one
of them is rerolling, one of them is magic, you know,
and you can build around one of them as like
(28:06):
duo boons and stuff. So that is a good way
if you know you like something, follow that to start
when you're unlocking stuff.
Speaker 5 (28:13):
Can I mention something else that I think is better
that I think that they've done here. It's sort of
in the way that comparing Breath of the Wild to
Tears of the Kingdom, I didn't think, but I didn't
think that they could make it deeper. I didn't think
that they could add more to it. They have added
this whole like surface layer, and I just I this morning, Yeah,
(28:37):
they went higher, they went higher, So I, uh, this morning.
You know, I was late to this call because I
was playing a lot this morning and I had just
unlocked the incantation that allowed me to explore the surface
level without being I guess they called it like chronic
(28:58):
uh orm or whatever, the thing that hurts you. Yes,
it just hurts you while you're on the surface. So
I finally got rid of that, and now I was
able to go through an entire run on the surface
and spoiler alert for anyone who hasn't gotten there yet
to the surface, but you defeat the Cyclops, who is
(29:19):
like a shepherd, a herder of sheep, and so that
I really great.
Speaker 4 (29:27):
All the characters have great voice acting. The Cyclops's voice actor,
I think well.
Speaker 5 (29:32):
And the thing is, if you've never played a game
like this, if you've never played a game where it's
very repetitive and you have to go through multiple loops
of the game, there has to be something that makes
it rewarding for you to continue to do so. And
the way that they do that is by of course
I mentioned the unlockables, but you're also unlocking new like dialogue, yes,
(29:58):
with each character and learning more about each character. And
as you learn about each character, you can either like
get a complete I don't know if you're for any
of the one hundred out there, you get a complete
feel yeah, in your in your in your book, or
if you have more to learn about them, it'll also
(30:19):
tell you that in your book. So it's very interesting.
You know, give as many gifts as you can to
the different gods, because not only will they give you
more benefits for that, they will also you know, you'll
get to know them better and unlock more lore.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Yeah, so sort of along those lines that that gameplay
loop I think is very similar to Haiti's one. And
one of the things in addition to the gameplay loop
that I think does really well is that the game
does a great job of you get better as you
play it, and the game makes you stronger, so you're
concurrently growing yourself as well as the game is powering
(30:59):
you up. So your first run, you may not even
make it to the first boss of the first world,
but you'll get a little better and you'll get a
little stronger, and you now have a death defiance okay,
so you can use that and that gets you a
little further along, and then you get a new weapon
and then you know. So every single run does feels
(31:20):
like it has some purpose, even if you don't get
very far. And there have been many times that I've
done a run where I'm like, I'm just not but
this is a weird build. I don't like what I'm doing.
I'm not going to make it as far as I
usually do, and that's totally fine. But you're collecting, collecting everything. Yet,
what I would say the major difference I think is
(31:41):
like you're saying, this is very which focused, and so
there's this bigger focus on magic. You have Manna that
you use, which is used in multiple ways through the cast,
which we talked about really briefly before, as well as
the Selene's hex.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
From the Moon.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
You are encouraged to spend man which I really like,
and like charging up. You know, every character can or
every weapon can charge two separate moves as well as
the cast. I do think better in terms of same, different, better, worse.
The boons are better. Yeah, the gods are more evenly distributed.
I definitely think in Haiti's one, there were some gods
(32:17):
I was like, I just don't I'm not even gonna try,
Like I don't want any of their boons, And in
this one I am much happier with many.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Of the boons.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
There are some that I would prefer still, and I
will always veer that way, and like we'll use their
keepsake to start a run so that I start with
them in my pool. But I think in general they're
evened out a lot more.
Speaker 5 (32:38):
I thought about it this morning, and the only one
who I am like, I don't really want any of
his boons I don't know about you, but it's Poseidon. Oh.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
I love Poseidon. I love Poseidon. Yeah, it's depending on
the build, Like if it's a fast attack, I like
having Poseidon's boon to push creatures away. I also like
it on the dash so that you can like dash
around and then run into something. So I like Poseidon
a lot.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
Okay, you know what, I'll give Poseidon another chance.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
It's particularly good, I think with ranged attacks because then
you're not only hitting them from a distance, you're pushing
them back, so they're just not getting closer to you.
I have had a lot of fun with Beside, and
I like him.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
All right, I've been I've been sleeping on Poseidon.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
Sorry, yeah, way to be Hypnos over here. And then
my worst. The one thing I do think so far
I have felt is a little worse than Hades one
is the weapon variation, in that I felt like when
you were when you can customize the weapons a bit more.
In Hades one, you got like drastically different move sets
for them kind of, and it's not quite that different
(33:43):
in Hades two. There are things I do really like,
and there are definitely some that I'm like, wow, this
totally changes how you play it, Like the Skull has
some variations that completely everything, but there's it's just not
the same way as I felt it was in Hades one. Yeah,
but okay, so we've talked a little bit about Oh,
(34:03):
go ahead, yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
The addition. I just let one last shout out for
the familiars. I love the addition of the familiars. It's
cute anyway, yea all.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
So, what have been your favorite moments of playing so far?
Speaker 5 (34:16):
I think one of like the first moments that I
was really like, oh, this is so cute and I'm
stunned by this game. And I texted the group chat
was the first time you meet a Rackney. I met
a Rackney like on one of my first few runs.
It actually took me a while to meet her. I
think because I was not I was not doing well
in the beginning. And I love her. She's adorable, she's
(34:40):
so cute her. I love her character design, and I
love what she gives you as well. She gives you
these clothing items that give you a shield for and
while you have that shield, you have you know whatever
ability is gained from whatever clothing item you choose. And
(35:01):
so I a lot of times ended up choosing the
Emerald the Emerald robe because I need the health. But
what about you, Aaron, what's been a favorite moment for you?
Speaker 4 (35:13):
I think it's been my first victory over each of
the bosses. It always feels like a monumentous thing. In particular,
I felt like it took me a while to understand
what to do against Scilla and the Sirens, Like I
felt like that boss fight was I was like banging
my head against the wall.
Speaker 5 (35:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
Also love that song so much, so I'm like I
could really get over. But each time I've beat I
have defeated a boss, it has been like, oh my,
So I have beaten Kronos a couple of times, and
that first time I beat him was so exciting and
like the Hacket as the first boss, I had a
(35:51):
tough time at first because I think I texted you
in a boo. I was like, she just turned me
into a sheep? What is like I was not prepared
for that.
Speaker 5 (36:00):
But I love that.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
Yeah, yeah, and so hard to avoid It's and like
sometimes you just get screwed with her bullets after that.
But oh and then my other favorite thing has been
seeing some familiar favorites from the first game throughout is
like one of my favorite.
Speaker 5 (36:16):
Kind of redesigned too. Yeah. Yeah, and I appreciate that.
My friend was like, why didn't they Just my friend
was talking, why didn't they just keep these designs from
the first movie, And I'm like, well, I don't know.
I think in this one, Ron my head canon at
least was like, well, Chronos, this one's all about the
passage of time, and so as time has passed, how
(36:38):
have these gods looked different?
Speaker 4 (36:41):
Yeah? So yeah, okay, so real quick before we go,
what what have been your favorite builds so far?
Speaker 1 (36:49):
Ah?
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Yeah, so I think you and I both agree that
we like the Umbrell flame, but I do tend to
go for a cast heavy build and I really like
either Hestia or.
Speaker 4 (37:04):
Zeus favorite character designs.
Speaker 5 (37:06):
Yes, one of my favorites. Also love her. We mentioned that, like,
we love that not all the gods are like hot
now there some of them are like, you know, of different.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
There's still plenty of hot gods.
Speaker 5 (37:16):
Yes, there's plenty of hot gods, but you know, there's
variety as well. But I love a build with Hestia
on the cast or Zeus on the cast. I love
Zeus if I can get Zeus on like my attack
as well as as well as the where the bolts
(37:36):
jump out to the neighboring foes. I mean that is like,
to me, that's an ope build. And then once you
have like either Hermes or Hephestus on some of the
others as well, it's like you're kind of a I
feel like unstoppable at that point.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
He Festus, I think, has some things that are just
so fun to abuse, like the huge ye extra damage
hitting for five hundred. It's a very slow cool down,
but you can really tailor the build to decrease the
cool down. You can have things that decrease all of
your cool downs and you can get to a point.
I've seen some people doing a mix with boons where
(38:16):
you you double your cast and then you have the
Hefestus hammer cast and you're doing multiple I mean, it's ridiculous,
the kind of thing like you can just win using casts. Yeah,
but that's one of my favorite things so far, and
what I have been the most successful with is doing
really focusing on one or two parts, so really focusing
(38:36):
on my attack or really focusing on using Omega casts
to build up Mana to use Selene's sexes and so
like I I will often with especially with Umbrell Flames,
I will be so attack focused that I never touched the.
Speaker 5 (38:52):
Special Special is really useful.
Speaker 4 (38:55):
I never touch it. I'm just holding attack, burn it
out as much magic as I can, and then using
Selene's X and like the moon blast or the time
slow or I mean even the one where you like
jump in the air and fall down like the pounce thing.
Speaker 5 (39:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
So I've really enjoyed like just hyper focusing something so
like I am going to do damage this way, and
that's how I'm gonna do damage, and everything is building.
I got something where it was like do the most
recent run I did with Umbrell Flames had like do
three hundred extra damage to any enemies close to you
(39:33):
with the attack. So I would just run into them
and just hold attack and it was like doing insane
amounts of damage. Yeah. Okay, So last question, favorite character so.
Speaker 5 (39:43):
Far, I've got to say Chaos. I mean, the design
for Chaos in the first game was really cool, but
the design for Chaos in this game is just so incredible.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
So many faces, so many eyes.
Speaker 5 (39:58):
I love it. Yeah, there's so many face there's like
at least four or five faces. Yeah, and it's just
it's it's like this winged creature that's holding a head
that's dismembered with a spine, and there's a fetus like
coming out of with a with an umbiblical chord coming
out of its mouth representing like life and dead love.
(40:21):
So it's very kind of like I feel like an
HR Geeker inspired design and I really enjoy it.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
Yeah, take notes Alien Earth. I think my favorite is
probably Echo. I'm really I really intrigued by her. And
then I also really love free Noos, you know, like
the familiars are, like you said, are such a great addition.
And I think as soon as I am locked Frenos,
I was just like, oh, I love this little guy.
(40:49):
He's just hopping around like absorbing the couple bullets for
me every once in a while.
Speaker 5 (40:54):
I haven't met Echo yet, I'm like looking up.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
So I will say my suggestion, no matter what act
you're in, anytime, you have the option of doing like
a meeting. So the icon that's the two hands, no
matter what act, do it, like unless the other thing
is really perfect for your build, the meeting those other
characters is always really fun. Yeah, it's a safe encounter
(41:20):
and it offers some great boons and I would say
definitely an Act three and definitely an Act four. Make
sure you go for those meetings.
Speaker 5 (41:29):
Okay, So I really enjoyed too much those characters, and
in each of those kind of safe zones, narcissis also
a great Yes, Yes, I love Narcissis.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
Talking to himself in the pool.
Speaker 5 (41:43):
Yeah, and he has fans the Shadows, the.
Speaker 4 (41:45):
Shades, Yeah, the Shades. All right, Well, I hope that
you know next week when we come back over the weekend,
you got a lot of time, Carmen. Hopefully you get
to meet Echo, get a couple of Kronos runs in there.
We'll see how we're doing on Monday.
Speaker 5 (42:00):
Okay, yeah, yeah, thank you.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
Awesome.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
All right, now we're going to go to when we
come back, Rosie's interview with Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del
Toro for one Battle after another.
Speaker 6 (42:20):
And okay, so this is a movie that has a
lot about fathers and different kind of fatherhood and stuff. Leo,
I was wondering, like, when you were growing up and
you're moving into movies, was your dad's kind of career
(42:40):
as an underground cartoonist. Was that something that inspired your
creativity or shaped kind of the way that you moved
in the world.
Speaker 7 (42:47):
Absolutely, and he continues to do so. My father, you know,
it's kind of the ultimate source of wisdom for me,
and not as not just his uh, his intent eligence
about his perception and his ability to look at a
certain subject matter through different lenses. And you know, I
(43:09):
oftentimes still read scripts with him and ask him him
his thoughts because he's got such a unique perspective. But
you know, he really was a great motivator for me
when I was when I was young an actor, I tried,
I started to try to get, you know, an agent
when I was ten or eleven or twelve years old,
and I remember I was a breakdancer and I had
(43:31):
a messed up haircut and all the agents rejected me.
And that reinforcement of you're going to have your time.
You're going to have your time, and also the guidance
of this is what real filmmaking is, you know, taking
me to see actors and films and saying, this is
what the art form is all about, and those are
great actors, watch this stuff. So I can't say enough
(43:54):
about how much he's influenced would I've done.
Speaker 6 (43:56):
I love that Venetia in a movie like this has
a lot of concepts around what's inside the law, what's
outside the law? I was wondering, was there is Do
you look at a movie like this and think about
the fact your parents were lawyers? Like, is that something
that kind of shaped how you look?
Speaker 4 (44:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (44:12):
I think so. I think my dad was a criminal lawyer,
my mom as well. I think they were actors in
a way. You have to convince people, you know, you
have to convince people. So yeah, yeah, Plus you know,
you know I had to do a lot of driving,
and you know, my dad had these big boats cars up,
(44:36):
you know, so I would sneak out and take the
car and you better not put a scrash in that car.
So that was like, that was what I was joking
to you. I can park an American big boat, right.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
I was going to say, I've heard that you're very
good at walking yourself.
Speaker 5 (44:51):
I can park the car.
Speaker 8 (44:53):
That's my claim to fame. But yeah, because I learned
from you know, my dad was a great driver. My
dad really good parking eighteen wheeler right there. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (45:02):
Yeah, And just before I leave, thank you again taking
the time. Do you remember the first time you watched
a PTA movie and what it was, or the first
time it really hit you like, oh, this guy is
something really special.
Speaker 7 (45:14):
I remember seeing Hard eight mm hmm, but then when
I saw Boogie Knights, I was like, oh boy, this
guy is one of the seminal cinematic voices of his generation.
That world that he created and talking about the underground
of the valley and porn stars at that time was
like revolutionary too. To put that on the big screen
(45:36):
and make these people human.
Speaker 8 (45:38):
Sexy, funny, yeah, great acting all across it. Yeah, I
think Boogie Knights, and then for me it was Punch
Trunk Love too because it was like, wow, you know
that's cool too, that's completely different. And then he just
he's done so many different styles. He's really, like, really
quite a filmmaker. I'm very proud to be We're both
(46:01):
very proud to be in this film. But I'm I
can speak for myself as an honor. Really.
Speaker 6 (46:05):
Yeah, it's a it's a truly fantastic film. Thank you
appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Thanks so much for listening. Guys. Those brief junket interviews
sometimes all.
Speaker 5 (46:18):
We can get.
Speaker 2 (46:18):
But it was a fun chat, and you can hear
us talking more about one battle after another on last
week's x RGC. So let's wrap up, guys with my
favorite segment, Thank Galactus.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
It's Friday.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
It's Friday, and once again comment is back to talk
about Shrek.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
She loves Shred.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
No one looks shrink more.
Speaker 5 (46:43):
We're going to the.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
What are you looking forward to this weekend?
Speaker 5 (46:49):
Well, I've already so, I've already seen the movie good Boy,
which was I loved it, very cute. Go see that.
It inspired me to spend a lot of money on
my dogs, I think, And so therefore I will be
this long way to say that I will be at
home playing more Hades too. And if I haven't by
the time you're listening to this, if I haven't killed
(47:11):
uh so what's her name? Cilia and that freaking band,
I will be very upset. So hopefully I will have
already beaten Cilia and moved on into the you know,
the third world of Hades two.
Speaker 3 (47:25):
So I wish we luck perfect.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
What am I going to be doing this weekend, guys,
I'm going to be I'll be plotting. Let me be
scheming this general I love that generally like plotting and scheming.
Speaker 3 (47:42):
It's a good time for playing and scheming.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
I feel like we need to be doing that. I
hope that people have a safe place to plot and scheme.
Speaker 5 (47:51):
Oh yes, yeah, I like that.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
It's very it's very cathartic to be doing that. Joelle's
asking me against I'm not going to talk about what
I'm plotting about. Can't in a non bose me, in
a non plotting and scheming format. In the plotting and
scheming segment of my week and schemes will take place.
(48:19):
They will take place nowhere else.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
And not on a recorded broadcast.
Speaker 1 (48:26):
That no plotting. That's what I'll be doing, Rosie.
Speaker 3 (48:30):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
I Am going to be just like hanging out watching
spooky movies. It's officially spooky season, so I'm going to
try and test out putting my projector outside to maybe
doing some little outdoor movie nights, a little bit of
you know, uh, practical magic over the garden wall.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
Me and Joel planning to watch the whole season as
it is chance for a.
Speaker 6 (48:56):
Season.
Speaker 3 (48:57):
I do have a little I do have a cheeky
fire pit.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
My neighbor does have a smoker, So we were like
centering cheeky little fire pit when my neighbor will be
probably smoking some meats, you know, So I think that
will be very fun. And Jason, just before we go,
I know that you recently learned about some delicious British snacks,
which I am a fan of. So tell me some
(49:20):
British snacks and I will think them.
Speaker 7 (49:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
I think it's temper rosie to explain British snacks. So
British GQ recently released this video of various British celebs,
celebs of British extraction, including dem Dame, Emma Thompson, Arsenals,
Ian Right, Andrew Garfield and more, talking about various British
snacks and so I want to talk about them. Sausage
(49:46):
rolls seem to be the consensus bottom tier British sausage.
Speaker 2 (49:50):
I'm gonna tell you the consensus. That's because they're all rich.
Everybody loves to eat a delicious sausage roll. It's got
delicious seasoned sausage meat inside it, and then you put
some delicious puff pastry around it.
Speaker 3 (50:03):
You bake it very delicious if you make it at home.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
And I get it, Jason Isaacs, he said, it's eyes buttholes, tails,
but isn't that every sausage really like ryann I sausage.
You can you can make a nice sausage roll exactly.
I would say, if you go to England, try a Greg.
Speaker 3 (50:20):
Sausage roll, a hot Greg is it? Is it healthy
for you? Absolutely not? Is it delicious?
Speaker 4 (50:27):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (50:28):
So I disagree. I do not think that is an
FT snack. I think it's a I think it's a
mid tier British delicacy.
Speaker 1 (50:34):
Hula hoops now, hula hoops. I'll just say, looking at
the packaging, it the packaging says, to my American eyes cheese.
It meets like good uh funion.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
Okay, I could see that.
Speaker 2 (50:52):
I will say a hula hoop is essentially a potato ring.
Speaker 3 (50:56):
When you're a kid, always like pretending you're wearing them.
Speaker 2 (50:59):
You know, you can get multiple flavors they have, like
the classic red is already salted, so just your salted flavor.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
You can also get, you know, barbecue beef I think
is one of the flavors. Classic English.
Speaker 5 (51:10):
This is like the English version of bugles. Is that correct?
Like where we put.
Speaker 3 (51:15):
Little exactly, But it's not like it's it's not a
corn chip? Is a potato chip?
Speaker 2 (51:20):
I will say, I hula hoops are the one thing
that will always ask people to bring me back from England.
But I am a hula hoops betrayer at this point
because I have found that in Diso and the Japanese
markets they have a much better season.
Speaker 3 (51:36):
That's Japanese. So I had ja ja, I'm moving hula
hoops down, but I still.
Speaker 1 (51:42):
Love them, okay it consensus wise, our British celebs seem
to widely believe that all kinds of British potato products
are generally better than their com headers. This includes crisps,
which is yes, I believe chips there and uh chip
(52:09):
and what are fries? What do they call fries? Else?
Those are chips and okay, chips, crisps Okay, So chips
and crisps are widely preferred to any other version of
fry or chip your yes, your opinion.
Speaker 2 (52:26):
So English chips as we would call them, like our
version of fries.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
They are much thicker. You usually get them in a
fish and chip shop. It really is.
Speaker 2 (52:35):
There's nothing comparable to quite get. Yes, it's a wide cut.
I will say a French fry is very popular in England.
Obviously we have a lot of American fast food, so
I do. I'm a fan of a shoe string fry,
but yeah, real fish and chips style big they look
kind of like a steak fry, but it's not the same.
Speaker 3 (52:54):
Those are very.
Speaker 2 (52:55):
Popular and I am a lover of them, and I've
yet to find anywhere that you can get a chip
can is alongside.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
I will say I don't agree with like walkers, which
is our version of las. I don't think that any.
Speaker 2 (53:10):
Such better than like an American chip. I just think
American chips all probably have a lot more stuff, more ingredients.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Is it about the newspaper cone?
Speaker 7 (53:20):
You know?
Speaker 3 (53:21):
That is part of it?
Speaker 1 (53:22):
Is that part of why it tastes good like the
fish and chips when I've seen in the classic style
that I've seen very often the chip comes in this
kind of cone of newspaper.
Speaker 3 (53:32):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Yes, they actually fold up your dinner in the old newspaper.
That is a classic English thing that we've been doing
for a long.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
Time in the fish and chip shops.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
I would say the thing about an English chip that
is unique about Spica is not yes spice bag. You're
seeing a real chip in a spice bag. That's like
a chip, a real English chip. The thing about English
chips not particularly crispy. I will say that it's more
of a soft bite, but you do get the delicious
(54:02):
bits at the bottom.
Speaker 1 (54:03):
You know, does then come off the When I used
to pack the Sunday papers as a job on Saturday nights,
late Saturday nights, like eight pm to six am on
Saturday nights, assembling the Sunday paper, I would come away
looking like a like a coal miner covered in ink,
(54:24):
in a layer of ink? Does it? Does the ink
not get on the chip and fish?
Speaker 3 (54:30):
Okay? So I I would so I'm I'm understanding here.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
I guess nowadays it has been like nine years since
I lived that it has not. They do not necessarily
still be wrapping them like that. I think most of
them are in like polystyrene boxes. But I will say
it is essentially the newspaper was used as like insulation.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
So you would put like a baking the grease away
and then the news on top.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
And it was cheap and it was free because there
is like a wax paper condom.
Speaker 5 (55:00):
It's like a war tip.
Speaker 1 (55:01):
It's not raw exactly, you know.
Speaker 2 (55:03):
I will say that the Americans, I do think you
guys do struggle with compared. I do think English have
you know, we have what we call them biscuits. You
guys call them cookies. But like I will say, I
do think the biscuit selection in England, like I love
like a chocolate.
Speaker 3 (55:19):
Digestive something like that. That's that's really great.
Speaker 1 (55:23):
Your your baking tradition is a lot stronger, I think,
and more varied than the American beaking tradition. Sorry to America,
Like I love a cookie, your variety of like different
kinds of biscuits for different kinds of things, like a
post dinner biscuit, a biscuit for the tea exactly.
Speaker 3 (55:42):
A biscuit for the tea.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
Also, just too many ingredients in America, Like if you
buy bread in America, why does it have like twenty
five added ingredients?
Speaker 3 (55:51):
Like it just needs to be just like salt and
water and like yeast of flour.
Speaker 1 (55:56):
Also, I'll say this, you know, you guys don't do
a donut, but you do do do those little biscuits
with ringed biscuits. Oh that's the thing that where we.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
England.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
England donuts do not even compare. We do not have
the cultural history and vibrant, so the doughnut commuters here live.
I live in South LA, so we have like a
vibrant Cambodian in Vietnamese donut culture here to the point
where like you can buy a donut here for seventy
five cents or a dollar that you would be paying
(56:29):
five dollars for in England.
Speaker 1 (56:30):
It's the week donut today.
Speaker 2 (56:32):
Yeah, I know, now I want a donut America. You
win the donut contest definitely.
Speaker 3 (56:37):
That is higher up.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
So yeah, I noticed that Aaron has popped back in
to insult my takes on cookies and biscuits specifically.
Speaker 3 (56:45):
But anyway, Aaron, what are you looking forward to this weekend?
Speaker 4 (56:47):
I am very excited this weekend. My friends and I
are going to do our first game with the Spider
Man set for Magic Yah, which just came out. We've
been a little hesitant because it it is sort of
a little speaking of of cookies and biscuits, it's a
little under baked, and then started on a small set
(57:08):
under baked started that was a really great accent small
and then they's kind of floated it to make it
more of a standard set. We're not sure how we
feel yet, but we haven't played it, so we're gonna
mess around with this weekend and see and I'll report back.
Speaker 2 (57:23):
Yes, please report back, because I've seen the arts really cool.
Speaker 3 (57:26):
But yes, I've been reading mixed mixed reviews.
Speaker 4 (57:31):
Some cards with like really great old comic covers as
the art of the cards, like full art cards which
look beautiful. And of course there's like different versions of
Spider Man that are worth a ton of money. But
we're just looking to see can I play as Venom?
Can I play as Shocker?
Speaker 2 (57:47):
Like?
Speaker 3 (57:47):
How will this look?
Speaker 1 (57:48):
So? And Aaron, what was your what was your you
put in the chat? Wow? Horrible take.
Speaker 4 (57:56):
The horrible take was that biscuits are better than cookies.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
Correct, just cookies.
Speaker 3 (58:01):
It's just cookies. It's the same. It's just English biscuits, abat.
Speaker 1 (58:04):
I think there's a wider variety of English of purposely
designed biscuits for specific situations, whereas America there's lots of
American cookies. But they're just like cookies for cookies, right.
Speaker 4 (58:17):
Just because you have a huge variety doesn't mean it's better.
So a sports thing, if your basketball team has three centers,
that's not a good setup. One good center, No, but
that's see, but American cookies are like here's here's American
here's American cookies.
Speaker 1 (58:38):
We do we do like very basic American cookie meal.
We do some version of chalcol meal, and then we
do like a chocolate chip. And then all the is
like fucking size. It's like here's a little cook here's cookies.
Here's whereas the British biscuits, there's like differences in how
(59:00):
crumbly they are, how crunchy they are, the topping, the size,
what you do it with. Here's a post dinner cookie.
Here's a with tea cookie, Here's a here's just like
a pile of biscuits for dessert biscuit time. Here's a
biscuit you have at school.
Speaker 2 (59:15):
Here's exactly. And it's true they love a biscuit. But
I will bring you some delicious biscuits back, amazing. What
I really want bread, A British shortbread.
Speaker 3 (59:24):
Now that's delicious.
Speaker 1 (59:27):
Are you watching the Great British Bakeoff era? I know
it's great short bread.
Speaker 3 (59:32):
Guys, Great Great British Bakeoff. Check in when we have.
Speaker 1 (59:36):
To do this. This will be the end of the episode.
I'll leave us with this. I've been watching Great British
bakeoff for years, years and years now and what it's
in the American season now the Netflix version is like
what season four or whatever? Five? Yeah, and it's in
season ten or something of how long they've been doing
it all this time, and every season there is Paul Hollywood.
(01:00:00):
We'll still be like, Okay, we're gonna do a uh
syene blue or and I'm like, look at why is
there yet another British baking pastry dessert we've never heard of?
Still ten plus years into this show and everybody's like,
oh my god, one of these. I'm like, what what
the fuck is that there? You never Here's a king,
(01:00:23):
Here's a king, Prussian King, Prussian, chocolate colored King, Prussian.
I'm like, what, Yeah, where are these coming from?
Speaker 3 (01:00:32):
I know that's what we Let's get pull Hollywood on
the Schevin Oskin.
Speaker 1 (01:00:35):
Yeah, very blue eyes. That's it for this episode. Thanks
for listening. We'll be back tomorrow with the Biggest News
