Speaker 1 (00:00):
Previously on Your Morning Show with Michael del Joano.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
I told this story earlier.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
My mom was having a cancer surgery, and of course
everybody watches Game Show Network in hospitals and in nursing homes.
And my brother goes, oh, you need to check this
one out. And of course it was the chase. It
was a masterpiece. But he goes, this is a host.
And I thought he was referring to how beautiful she is,
because she is beautiful, but no, he wasn't, and nor

(00:26):
did I even notice that she is just And I've
been a fan of game shows my whole life. Maybe
the most talented game show host ever. Brooke Burns joining us.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
Wow, thank you so much. What a wonderful compliment. I
really appreciate that. Yeah, I'm enjoying my job at the moment.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Well yeah, because you know, growing up I watched My
favorites were Tic Tac Dough, Press, your Luck match game,
and family Feud. I would later become friends with Wink
Martindale after I was trying to get Wink to give
me one of his old gaudy jackets and I was
going to put it up in my Hall of Me
next to all my football jerseys.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
Yeah, and he gave great would that be?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
But he gives me one that's so nice I wear it.
And then there's a message from him in the lapel.
And now we combine that because you'll be the new host, well,
you are the new host of Tic tac.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Doh no, I know.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
And I was fortunate enough to get to meet Wink
as well. He came to visit us on the set
of The Chase. Actually, as you're speaking about the Chase, and.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
I'll never forget him walking out onto that stage and
me feeling like, oh, I feel like I should kneel
or step off the stage.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
I feel like this is your space, you own.

Speaker 4 (01:28):
Yeah, he was just so gracious and you're doing a
great job.

Speaker 6 (01:33):
And you know that warmth that you as you know,
if you if you friends won him he was so
famous for and also made him such the icon that
he is in game as well.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
He passed unfortunately, yeah, the day after our premiere. But
I thought that that was kind of an interesting timing
and I'm just thinking, Okay, Wink, I need you winking
down at me from up there and giving us the
blessing to move forward with this.

Speaker 5 (02:00):
But I think he's still playing game up.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
He was just one of.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
The most down to earth, warmest, encouraging human beings you
would ever meet, which which.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Is how you strike me.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
And then the other thing he's known for is that
that smile, that infectious smile, which I think is what
makes you such a natural.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I'll tell you on the chase, I have an interesting
question for you.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
So when the Beast was on the chase, he couldn't
get anything wrong.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Now he's on this news show.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
He's constantly getting answers wrong.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Were you guys cheating? No?

Speaker 5 (02:29):
You know BC. He's amazing. First of all, he has
a photographic memory.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
He's incredibly brilliant, as you've seen on the chase.

Speaker 5 (02:38):
You put him on a speed round, he can answer things.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
It's unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Before you even get through the question, I'm like, give
me a give me a breath, a chance to read
over here pst. On masterminds, I think the thing that
he struggled with the most is the buzz in his reflexes.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
You know, he's he's a big guy, yeah, and.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Not the youngest of our masterminds, and so I think
that sometimes the reflexes got in the way of that
and making it into.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
The final round.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah, you're the handlers are going to get mad at us,
but I got to say a dealer, no deal with
Howie Mandel, Regis philbin With Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
And The Chase are the three best game shows that
really should be honored. And you know, Emmy worried they
were just classics and you were so terrific as though.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
Sorry not Tic Tac dough.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
This is one that I think the older audience is
going to remember, but done in a new, fresh way.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I love the idea.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Yeah, well it's that thing of like, you know, if
a game works, it works, and it works it's timeless.
So it's really fun to get to introduce this.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
You know. I mean my eight year old is now like, oh.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Mom, can I watch you know, she got to come
and watch me film and what have you, but she loves.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
To play along.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
I don't typically like to watch anything that I've done.

Speaker 5 (03:57):
Just because that's awkward.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
But you will ask me like I want to watch
your game shows?

Speaker 5 (04:03):
Can we play together as a family.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
I'm like, this is so weird, but sure I understand
it because I.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
Used to watch game shows with my mom and dad
and I love.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Those memories together, so you know, it really is that
thing where you can watch with your eighty year old
grandma and your.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
And your kids.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
So yeah, no, it's a family affair.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Actress Emmy nominated television host Brook Burns. The latest is
Tic Tacto on the Game Show Network. You know, I
acted in a movie and I got to tell you,
I don't know how you guys do it. That's sitting
around forever and then all of a sudden it's time.
And you know, I was more in the mood when
I began my weight than now that you're actually filming.

(04:43):
And then game shows couldn't be more different, right, what
are you doing like six or seven in a day
or how many?

Speaker 5 (04:48):
That's right? Seven? Sorry, six shows a day. We rehearse
for a week and then we do six shows a
day for about three weeks. We shoot sixty five. That's crazy,
and then we have a break.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Yeah, it's fast and furious, but there's that is something
actually I like about it because, as you said, as
an actor, you may have one scene in a day,
so you get there, you get hair and makeup done.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
And then you're sitting in your trailer for hours on end.
There is no sitting around during during these days. I
mean it is like one after the next after the next,
with the.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Wardrobe change, hair change, new contestants, studying up what's the gameplay.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
And getting through it. In fact, yeah, I mean.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
My only downtime really is my thirty minutes of lunch,
in which I basically just pass out on my couch.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
At my dressing rush.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
So I mean, seriously, by the end of the day,
you've got to be exhausted.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
It is, it's exhausting, but you know, there's always that
light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
It's not three hundred and sixty five days a year.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
We're done in a month, and then I get to
go home and be a stay at home mom basically
and hang out with my kids and you know, dress
up for costume parties.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
And right, no, well, all right, brick Bourne's continuing. You know,
Baywatch was obviously a huge hit. I didn't watch Melrose
plays a huge hit. Ally McBeal a huge hit. I mean,
you've had a great salt.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
Talking about those shows now, you know, well, yeah, but I.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
Mean you had a great career, but this is like
perfect for this time of your life, isn't it.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
Thank you. It is. It absolutely is.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
As was you know at nineteen getting paid to go
to the beach and move to Hawaii and do all
of that.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
I just had the best time doing that. But yes,
for right now, in this decade, in my forties, I
couldn't ask for a better job.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
And I always like to say, it's the most fun
thing in the world when you're, you know, on an
airplane and somebody goes, oh, what do you do for
a living and you're like, I'm a game show host
and they think you're joking, and I'm like, no.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
For real, that is my job.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Yeah, No, you're the real deal.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
By the way, the only thing that came out in research,
I knew everything about you. That not that I'm a stalker.
You can relax, But although if I was a stalker.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
You'd be my type.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
No, but I had no idea that you were shallow.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
How is one of my all time favorite movies.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
I just because I love movies that make you laugh
but then have a moral message and shallow How certainly
did I had no idea that you were Katrina?

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Isn't that hilarious? I know the Fairly brothers were so
kind to me. I actually auditioned for the role of
the neighbor, and they thought I looked.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Too similar to Gwyneth Paltrow.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
So they were like, but but you're so dorky and
like fun and what we got to write something for you.
So they wrote this role of Katrina where I wear
a nose and a you know, brow and fake pimples
and it was.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
A black How do they all? Right?

Speaker 3 (07:18):
So, for those who don't watch the Game show Network
or maybe you watch me, I mean, Brooke, you, I
don't mean this Flirtatiou said, all, I'm very happily Mary,
but you're absolutely gorgeous. I mean to look in the
mirror at the and you know, oh I look great.
I never do that. I have no self esteem whatsoever.
But that that should have won an Oscar. They they
ugled you up so much. I didn't know that was you,
and I thought I knew everything about you.

Speaker 6 (07:40):
Well, somebody asked me earlier, do you get recognized for
shallow hollan?

Speaker 5 (07:43):
I said, only my boys, not by.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Well, the terribles. I mean they're just simply the best. Right,
you got a chance to work with real comedic geniuses.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
He was awesome.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Oh yeah, that's great.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
All right now, Tic Tecto, this is a pretty good lineup,
you guys. We just talked to Valerie Bertinelli and nice
very similar, very similar conversation though that this is playing
out perfectly for her life now as it is yours.
But it's it's turning into quite a prime time lineup.
And I really like that show The Wall too. Thank
you pretty strong.

Speaker 5 (08:14):
I've got some good stuff on there.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
I know I was when somebody told me that Valerie
was joining Game Show Network. I was so happy because
obviously I'm a big fan of hers just from the
acting days, but I feel like she's always given off
that warmth and kindness and sweetness that just will really
track as a game show host in connecting.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
With the fans.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
I think she really loves people, and I think I
think that she's well suited for game show hosting.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
I'm looking everywhere for the time, and I'm trying to
stall Valerie seven thirty and I think you Tic Tacto
is time just.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Before seven pm weekdays on Game show Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Weekdays, seven o'clock Game Show Network. Tic tac Toe. Nothing
but the best dresses, No gaudy sport codes like wink
mark and deal, but a wonderful natural host. And of
course the same thing with the dragon, and yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
Totally when we're saying he's kind of adorable until you
get into that last round and he's blocking you from
taking home ten.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
Thousand dollars, and then he's well hated.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Well, let me tell you some of the chase.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
I used to feel for you, because when they would
do those rapid rounds, I mean, if you stumbled at
all whatsoever, you could have cost them the choice of
winning or losing.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
I mean that had to be such.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
You don't have any of that, just to have fun,
be yourself and the show looks great and you're terrific
as always.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Oh well, thank you.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
Yes, No, I definitely was white knuckling some of those
speed rounds on the chase between beast breathing down on
me and wanting the contestants to win and speed up,
you know, and at the end of the clock.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
But yeah, this is much more relaxing for me.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
I just have the two contestants and so we just
get to really have fun.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
The trivia is for everyone.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
And then obviously the game that you played since you
were four years old, so three in a row take
home ten grand it's a blast, and I hope that
having a blast shooting it anyway, and I hope that
that translates.

Speaker 5 (10:02):
For the audience.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
I wish you nothing but the best. Brook Burns Tic
tac Toe weeknights at seven on the Game Show Network.
God bless you, my friend.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
Thank you so much. You as well.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Miss a little, miss a lot, miss a lot, and
we'll miss you. It's your morning show with Michael del Churno.
