Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi, it's me Michael. Your morning show can be heard
live daily on great radio stations like News Radio six
fifty K E n I Anchorage, Alaska, Talk Radio eleven
ninety Dallas Fort Worth, and Freedom one oh four seven
in Washington, d C. We'd love to have you listen
live every day and make us a part of your
morning routine. But better late than never. Enjoy the podcast
two three.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Starting your morning off right, A new way of talk,
a new way of understanding different because we're in this together.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
This is your Morning Show with Michael O'Dell Jornan. No, no, no,
stop it, stop and stop it cold. What what happened to?
Hello American? It's Friday? Oh well, I mean I think
you get tired. I mean you got all cute with Mickey. Yeah,
like I want to hear from him again. After checking
out my Hulu, I don't pay it for all hapen

(00:55):
to that thing, goofy kemmel. I don't do it if
you don't have it. But I mean, you know, I'm
a man of creature. I habit doesn't feel like the
weekend unless you do that. What what's up with the
morning show? I'm listening to some guy from Akron. I
was never from Akron. Somebody must have tuned in when
I was doing WHLO hell, because I just thought, you know,

(01:19):
in the old days of radio, to work on WHLO,
you know, somebody was going hlo, hello, hello an. You
know they were doing it all right. I didn't mean
to cut the music. Don't even bother to look for it,
all right, By the way, I started my day with
Jeffrey putting a seed of doubt in my mind that time. Well,

(01:44):
you're like making fun of our spotlight interview today. Now
let's say I did not. I was trying to channel
the voice. No, you were making fun, like why would
we reair? That is what you were true, that's what
I heard anyway, all right, that's what you heard, But
that was not true. We live in a postmodern America.
Now my feeling in this morning, we decided to do

(02:07):
our spotlight interview of the week. Now, again, it depends
on what lends you look through, Like are you listening live?
Are you listening a month from now, a year from now?
I can't possibly know sure. I mean, the old days
were you know, it was as simple as at work
at home or in your car news talk. You know,

(02:29):
I don't know what you You could be anywhere, you know,
on a phone, on a car, at a home, and
so yeah, obviously if everyone listened to the podcast, I
wouldn't do a spotlight interview because it's just there whenever
you want it, or it's there to be heard whenever
you're wanting to listen to it, and you probably already

(02:50):
heard it. But if you listen live, the odds of
you hearing it are rather slim. Sure, And so I've
never forgot I came, you know some most of this
show are my good ideas. Yead me to toot my
own horn? Give me another two? All right? And a
lot of these are my good ideas well. Do you
want to know? One that was David's and addis Yeah,

(03:11):
what was that? My morning show? Is your morning show?
Oh wow? Where would we be without that Quessian statement? Right? No,
I have a lot of you know, good ideas, and
so mine was. You know, we have like at least
one incredible interview a week. We should feature it on Friday. Yeah,
a little homage to week in review. Oh just in

(03:32):
case you missed it, And this was so good, I
don't want you to miss it. So I come up
with this idea of our spotlight interview of the week,
and then and then you just kind of trash it
right before I go on the air. I distracted. I
am I need the open. I think we need to
start over. And I don't know why we can't find
Paul Harvey. What did you do to him? I don't know.
You know what my contribution to this show was losing
Paul Harvey. Nope, it was this. It's right, I'll take.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
That, starting your morning off right, A new way of talk,
a new way of understanding because we're in this together.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
This is your Morning Show with Michael O'Dell Chorny Tay two.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Those four new affiliates are like what we sign up for.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Action all right? Eleven minutes after the hour, Good morning,
and welcome to Friday. Than God is Friday? Friday? Righty?
September twenty sixth, you have our Lord twenty twenty five?
Do you ever do that? You see the date and
you go somebody's birthday that I know, I have no clue.
Who's no. Today is somebody's birthday? Somebody is September twenty sixth,

(04:37):
But I don't remember.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
The saddest part is I don't log onto Facebook, but
about once every two weeks, and then I find out
all the birthdays I missed, and I feel really guilty,
so I just avoid them at all costs if.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I maybe one of the few things Facebook's still good for,
right a birthday. It is Friday, September the twenty sixth,
twenty twenty five, eleven after the Hour House Minority leader
he and Jeffrey he Is speaking out against the indictment
of former FBI Director James Kobe, because that's his job.
Make everything evil. Donald Trump's doing, not the guy perjured

(05:12):
himself or obstructed Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Pete Hegsath is scaring everybody.
He's ordered hundreds of US admirals, generals and alike back
to America and back to headquarters for a double secret meeting.

(05:32):
And of course it's just got everybody's mind going wild.
You know, it could be anything.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Is not the big affiliate that we're going to be
signing pretty soon.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
No, I don't think that's it. It's about They're all
going to gather in search of what happened to Paul
Harvey America Friday. Pete's gonna get the generals the word
and the admirals whether it's half see go fight Paul
Harvey on his computer. Oh you found it, That's all

(06:00):
I wanted to hear. I don't ask for so many buttons,
but yeah, it's got a lot of people's cabot They
planning for World War III? Are they planning for a
great terror attack? What's up? And we don't know. TikTok
will continue to operate in the United States. A vigil
was held in Dallas for the three detainee shot and

(06:21):
Wednesday's attack. We don't know a whole lot more about
the shooter. Obviously he was ginned up by anti ICE rhetoric.
But in the news conference was this was about all
the US attorney was. Nancy Larson was willing to give
us listen.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
His words were definitively anti ICE. That said, we did
not find evidence of membership in any specific group or entity,
nor did he mention any specific government agency other than ICE.
Among his papers, though, was a handwritten note in which,

(07:00):
in crude words, he expressed his hatred for the federal government.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
So hatred of the federal government sitting federal government. Maybe
Trump doesn't like ICE. ICE has been finally enforcing the law.
I guess that's tap dancing around. We got ourselves another
left to shoot her. In Week five of college football,

(07:26):
we got three really really good games. First, probably the
game of the week is six versus three Oregon Penn State.
That's a great matchup. LSUO Miss is always a lot
of fun in Alabama. Georgia not what it used to be.
In fact, one might expect Georgia to slap them around
a little bit. So that and more coming up. We

(07:49):
will do our despite the discouragement an harassment of my
fellow employee, and I'll deal with that later.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
In HR one of my favorite characters in the show,
I was trying to work on an imperds the nation.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Evidently it was bad. Oh that was you trying to
sound like Jeremy Swiss. I wanted to sound like it.
Jeremy Swift was nominated for an Emmy for his character
in ted Lasso. He's out with a new movie and
we didn't that was Now, that wasn't bad. You know
what I'm saying. You got some talent, man, you just
hide it.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
It's been hanging with you for a couple of years.
Uh yeah, we started hearing voice mocking birds. We've got
why you let don't tell them what we do. We
re beat what we hear. But now he's out. Not
only would a new movie called Grow, But I didn't know.
Did you know there was going to be a fourth
season of ted Lasso? I had heard that and they
owe us that because the fourth season was really really bad.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Third me, this would be the fourth what was the
final se So the big news of a fourth season
of ted Lasso a new movie Grow. Jeremy Swift is
our Spotlight Interview of the Week this morning. We'll do
that next half hour. Rory's covering two big stories. One
Starbucks is in the midst of a one Bee b
Is and Ross Perrot one billillion dollar restructuring, and that

(09:01):
means closing hundreds of cafes. Uh. Is Starbucks reeling and
in trouble Decker Uh, you know it's shameless.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
He Uh.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
He's getting on Air Force one today and he's flying
to beth Page with the President to go to the
Ryder Cup. You know, it's funny. Everybody that I know
goes crazy over the notion of going to the Masters.
Sure for me, and I don't know if that and
I'm not rowdy when it comes to golf. I would
love to go to a Ryder Cup. That's the one

(09:34):
I want to go to, just against the world. Well Europe, Okay,
that's what's kind of dated about it. We need to,
you know, create something a little different. But at the
time it was the motherland of golf, and then it
comes to America, and then America takes on the motherland.
And now, of course a lot of the top golfers

(09:55):
are koreann Asian and they're not there. We get creamed
a lot though in the rider kep, don't I'm holding
her own. I like our odds this year. Okay, scrappy
group plus try. You know forty seven is going to
join us. We'll ask you if he's going to play. Okay,
all right, well we are very excited to announce that
forty seven is back today, you know, the President and RFK.

(10:18):
Basically we're just doing a you know, a service. Hey,
we got research that chose you shouldn't be taking Thailand
all you see them medicine and titan all is not
good while you're pregnant, and there are some ties to
autism for the baby. So what's the big craze this
week on TikTok? All these women with their bellies out
eight nine months taken fistfuls of Thailand, all in defiance

(10:40):
of the president. Well, I got word of Stephen Miller
just emailed me and said that the president has yet
some more medical advice for women. Oh and l for
leftist women that he is going to share later on
the show. Forty seven is back today. Yes, there's a
lot going on.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
This is your morning show with Michael del China.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
You can't have your morning show, would never want to
have your morning show. And thank god, we've yet to
ever have to have your morning show without your voice.
Don't forget whos that talkback button? If you're listening on
your iHeart app, it'll professionally count you down three two one.
The best of all, there's no more rotting on hold.
You just simply take your place. It's your morning kitchen
table and this show belongs to you. We need your voice.

(11:26):
Use the talkback button, or you can email Michael de
at iHeartMedia dot com. Well, if you're just waking up,
Former FBI director James Comy is defiant after he was
indicted yesterday, Mark Mayfield has our top story.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
In a video posted on social media, Comy said he
is innocent and his family will not.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Live on their knees. My family and I have known
for years that there are costs to standing up to
Donald Trump, but we couldn't imagine ourselves living any other way.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
Comy has been charged with one count of making false
statements and one count of obstruction of justice. The charges
are related to testimony he gave before Congress on his
handling of the investigation into the twenty sixteen presidential election.
It involved Russia allegedly interfering with the presidential election. Coomi
went on to say his heart is broken for the
Department of Justice, but he's confident in the federal judicial system.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
I'm Mark Neefield. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is ordering hundreds
of US admirals and generals from around the world head
to Virginia for a very special meeting. Jim Roup has more.

Speaker 7 (12:26):
The meeting is reportedly expected to take place at a
military installation in Quantico, but what it's about is unclear.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Could be anything from a.

Speaker 7 (12:34):
Group physical fitness test to a briefing on the current
state of the Defense Department, or a mass firing. Haig
Seth has said he wants to cut around twenty percent
of senior generals and admirals.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
I'm Jim Roup. Less than a quarter of Americans see
the federal government in a positive way, Tammy Trihilo explains.

Speaker 8 (12:52):
According to a recently released Gallup survey, just twenty three
percent of respondents said they see the federal government vary
or somewhat positively. However, sixty one percent had a somewhat
or very negative view of the sector. All about sixteen
percent had a neutral view. The new findings placed the
federal government at the bottom of the Bolster's list, replacing
the pharmaceutical industry, which had been at the bottom for

(13:14):
the past two years. I'm Tammy Trihuillo.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
I got to make an admission here. I did watch
probably the first five seasons of American Idol. In fact,
Andrew and I twice went to American Idol concerts. You know,
after the season the top ten would go on tour,
but not not since. In all honesty, I never watched

(13:39):
America's Got Talent? Did you No? No? Yeah, I still
haven't never seen a season. But apparently this year he
speaks like he knows what he's talking about. Chicago's Leo
Catholic High School choir apparently captured everyone's heart and they
looked like a shoe in for the one million dollar
NBC America's Got Talent Prize, but their run came up short.

Speaker 9 (14:03):
The Sound Side All Boys School finished fourth.

Speaker 10 (14:06):
And leaving the competition is.

Speaker 9 (14:12):
Leo High School, the winner of the competition with singer
Jessica Sanchez. Following their elimination, Chicago Cardinal Blaze Soupice released
the statement saying, the boys made Chicago proud. I'm Perry william.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
Today is Shahmou the World Day, celebrating the magnificent creatures
in the ocean, breed tennis with more on a sad
story with a better ending.

Speaker 11 (14:38):
Shamoo was the first orca at Sea World San Diego
in nineteen sixty five, purchased for five thousand dollars. A
park then turned Shamou into a brand with orca shows.
Visitors could see the killer whales interact with staff and breach,
drenching fans in the soak zone. More to celebrate with
a birth of baby Shamoo at the park September twenty sixth,

(15:00):
nineteen eighty five. The orchestraws ended in twenty seventeen, replaced
with educational programs. Today, the park is encouraging donations to
conservation as the apex predators are now endangered. I'm pre tennis.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
You know. One of my favorite Michael Jackson songs was
Man in the Mirror? Is he saying shamboo in that
shammoo shack? I always thought he was, But you know
how I get words wrong? All right? Obviously, two Kyler
Murray interceptions proved too many, and then a fifty two
yard field goal to win at Seahawks twenty three to

(15:33):
twenty over the Codinals last night. Tigers have broken eight
game losing streak by winning four to two over the Guardians.
Dbacks lost eight nothing to the Dodgers. Hayes fell eleven
to five to the Astros. Rais lost sixty five to
the O's. Red's beat the Pirates two to one. Of
the Angels lost nine to four to the Royals. Three
really good games in college football this week, and I

(15:54):
can't highlight all your city's teams. But LSUO misses a
big game. Bama. Georgia's big game, especially if it was
five years ago, could be one side of georgiea's way.
But that's why you play the game. But I think
the Game of the week six versus three Oregon Penn
State birthdays today. Jim Cavizel Jesus from The Passion is
fifty seven. Actress Linda Hamilton, you know of for Terminator,

(16:15):
I loved her for Dante's Beak sixty nine years old today,
and tennis great Serena Williams is forty five. If it's
your birthday, Happy birthday. We're so glad you were born.
And thanks for making us a part of your big day.

Speaker 7 (16:29):
Hey, everybody's john Ford Coley of England, Dan and john
Ford Coley and my morning show is your Morning Show
with Michael del Jorno.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Hi, I'm Michael. I'd love to have you listen to
your morning show live. Every day. We're heard on great
stations like News Talk five point fifty k FYI and
Phoenix News Radio, eleven ninety k EX in Portland and
ten ninety The Patriot in Seattle. Make us a part
of your morning routine. We'd love to have happy listen live.
But in the meantime, enjoy the podcast Good Morning, Early Bird,
Gets the Worm, Sleepy Squirrel, Missus and Nuts, Rise and Shine.

(17:08):
We got us a Friday to master September the twenty sixth.
If you're just waking up, Minority leader Hachem Jeffries is
speaking out against the indictment of former FBI director James
Call me TikTok will continue to operate in the US
and individuals held in Dallas for the three detainees shot
during the Ice office attack just outside of Dallas, Texas.

(17:31):
We always say, can't have your morning show without your voice,
wouldn't have it, and so far I've never had to
have it. Is this Woody or no, this is Roger.
Roger is listening in at KSTE in Sacramento, California.

Speaker 12 (17:44):
That's a morning Michael and Jeffrey today. Mark's the one
your anniversary, my first clock back, and I just want
to express my gratitude for being part of this show.
I'm thankful for all the other listeners that have their
contributions too, and to all the new listeners, especially those
of the new affiliates, welcome and just know that even
when you don't get on the air, your opinions matter,

(18:07):
and these guys actually do listen to everything.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
What a sweet anniversary message, but a year we've known
each other. Roger, thanks for being a part of your
morning show, all right. Jeremy Swift got an Emmy nomination
for his role as Higgins. Higgins is always tricky because
I used to think that he was like the pr guy,
and then you kind of get a sense he's the
general manager of the soccer club. But he is good

(18:31):
old fashioned English humor and appears throughout the show one
of the favorite characters of Jeffreys. We caught up with
him because not only is there a season four of
Ted Lasso being filmed as we speak, his new movie
Grow is out in October, and we said, hello, Hi, Michael,
how are you. I know we're going to talk about
Grow and it'll be in theaters on October seventeenth. But

(18:54):
got to start with ted Lasso. That was obviously, I mean,
you had such a rich career or in England, but
Ted Lasso of course introduced you to everybody in America.
It was a great character, a character that really evolved
in a show that had great chemistry. I think that
was one of the keys, and the way it mixed

(19:14):
comedy and emotion, real emotion and relationships. What how do
you describe what made Ted Lasts so so amazing?

Speaker 10 (19:25):
I think.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
I think that Jason took a different journey into comedy
because we've had a lot of dark comedy or awkward comedy,
which is very It was just great stuff.

Speaker 10 (19:40):
But I think I think, I think he wanted to show.

Speaker 5 (19:43):
An alternative to the human spirit really and without being
you know, all Flowers and COI or whatever, because of
course we've got people like Roy Kent in there, who's
you know, you know, who's a really confounded, tough character
and his and but he's he's on a learning path

(20:05):
as well in the show. But yeah, I think I
think the balance in the show of showing people's hearts
and and and when they make mistakes is you know,
is funny and heartwarming, right. I think that it came
at a time when everybody needed a show like that.

(20:26):
It was the most unexpected, unplanned balance, you know, because
we had this terrible pandemic, global pandemic, and then and
the show that it was going to come out at
that time anyway, and it was what it was. But
people took to it and it was a real tonic

(20:46):
to them, you know, it was, Yeah, it was.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
It was a humanormously obviously a huge hit comedy with
a heart, and it makes me wonder if we need
more comedy with the heart, although you can't do it
without that storyline and that cast. Do you think the
story was done?

Speaker 10 (21:03):
I didn't think so.

Speaker 5 (21:05):
Yeah, and you know we're now doing the full season,
as you may know.

Speaker 10 (21:11):
But I always thought there's lots of little scenes being planted.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
It would be strange not to let those, you know,
grow as the word of the hour.

Speaker 10 (21:23):
So yeah, yeah, no, and I hoped anyway, who knows,
wasn't in my.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
What did you What did you love about the character
of Higgins? I mean I loved. I mean I I
thought when they when they offered this interview, and I
do want to talk about grow your new movie coming out,
but it was there were just you can't pick a
favorite character, and everybody played their role, and you were
such relief. I guess at some point I thought you
were like the communications director. At some point I thought

(21:49):
you were like the general manager. But with all these
strong characters, I don't want to say bumbling idiot, but
you're your guy. Was kind of simple, appears to not
be the smartest, but my be the smartest and sensible
in the room. It's a great character and it got
a nomination in twenty one for an Emmy. That's right.

Speaker 5 (22:07):
Yeah, I think that, you know, well, they developed him
in a really in a really cool way because he
wasn't allowed to be himself because he was.

Speaker 10 (22:19):
Thwarted by Rebecca Welton, Hannah Wadigan's character in the show.

Speaker 5 (22:23):
And he's got and you know, you discover that he's
got a whole bunch of sons and and he's got
to he's got to keep earning, so he doesn't want
to get fired. So but throughout the show, he's kind
of like almost like an unintentional Yoda. He's got these
you know, he's got these great takes because he is

(22:45):
a parent and he's had to he's got this outlook
and he's got you know, he's he's learning himself. But
and he's got this these great epithets, these these great
you know, takes on on what it is to be
a human being. So that was that was a really
nice development point that they made.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
Jeremy Swift Emmy nominated Actor from ted Lasso a fourth
season coming. I hope there's a lot more of those
meetings in the office. I always loved when there was
like a personal crisis, we went to the office because
that stuff happens in real life, you know, and then
your character would always appear through a window or something,
really the window in one episode, Yes, let's talk about grow.

(23:27):
I guess we're in the pumpkin capital of the world.
And from there it goes. Tell us about this story.
I think, you know, we talked about comedy with a heart.
This one is a little bit of that and a
whole lot of English humor, which I think America is
love thing. Well always as going back to Monty Python, oh.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
Yeah, yeah, you guys have always got into to our comedy,
and this is this is a comedy for young families,
as it were, all people.

Speaker 10 (23:57):
Are just like pumpkins.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
It centers around a little girl called Charlie who's played
by the excellent Prea rose Brookwell, and.

Speaker 10 (24:07):
You just yeah, she's like ten or something.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
She's so talented and her character is kind of the heartbreaking.
It is that she's kind of been abandoned by a
mother and she's due to go down the foster road
and adoption road, and so she put together with her
her aunt who lives in the country who runs a farm,
and Dinah Little who's played by the excellent Golder Reshoval,

(24:34):
who folks might know from Bridgeston, And Charlie has this
affinity with growing with plants, and she can sort of like,
you know, she's like she's like a pumpkin whisperer as
he were. You know, she can sort of like put
her hands on them and feel their pain if they're

(24:55):
not if they're being given too much you know, chemicals
are fertilizer or something. And and so she sets out with
her Auntie to to join this pumpkin festival in the
in the village, which is fiercely competitive and and there's
a huge prize of course, and.

Speaker 10 (25:16):
And she and there's all there's this whole host.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
Of of comic characters in the village, uh and and
this you know, yeah, yeah, very aggressive competition from from
the Landing Gentry, a couple played by Jane Horricks and
Tim mckinnery who people might know from black Adder, And
and myself mister Gregory who's a kind of thwarted scientist

(25:42):
who works for a fertilizer company and grows his his
his pumpkinit inner lab. And my son played by Dominic
McLaughlin who's the next Harry Potter and he's also so great,
isn't it.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
These are all in your homeland. They would recognize all
of these people. For America. They may only recognize you,
but everybody is terrific and kind of Jeremy, don't you
It struck me. You're going to be insulted when I
say this. But the old silly movie best in Show, Well,
you know, it's a simple premise, Like you're describing all

(26:21):
this premise and everything with that, No, listen, It's all
about how they interact with each other. The premise is
simple and silly, but the mayhem and the interaction is
what really makes it. And it is as as somebody
whose kids are all at university. Now I don't have this,
but when I was, when they were younger. This is
a family movie that really celebrates fall in a way,

(26:42):
which is my favorite season two. It does.

Speaker 5 (26:46):
You're absolutely right, Michael, and and yeah it is.

Speaker 10 (26:49):
It is about.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
Community, and it's also it's about a relationship that's growing.
It's about found family and as a as a of
adopted kids, myself and I kind of really relate to it.
And although we wanted kids, and Gilda Reshuel's character Dona
Little is very reluctant because she's got a farm to

(27:12):
run and doesn't want to you know, a sort of
persistent little girl on her land. But the way their
relationship develops and grows is really really touching, and it's
at the heart of the film.

Speaker 1 (27:26):

less than that games to go. In the National League,
Phillies are going to run away with the National League East,

(32:49):
and with ninety four wins have the second best record
in the National League Brewers are going to win that
division by seven, but the Cubs are going to be
a very dangerous wildcard. And I guess you would say
a Divis win for the Dodgers, but it's not necessarily
clinch jet and it hasn't been that impressive. But boy,
as the American League got interesting in just three short

(33:09):
