(00:00):
So then I said, what aboutbreakfast at Siciny's. Well, that's one
thing. We got time to sitback, relax and indulge in your weekly
tea. Welcome to breakfast at Sicins. Oh we're recording, Yes, yes
we are. Welcome back. It'sSicany and Erica, and here we are.
I don't know about you, butI have obsession and obsession when it

(00:24):
comes to the Olympics. Oh yeah, I would call it Olympic fever.
Ooh okay, yeah, yeah,Olympic fever. Yeah. So I kind
of wanted to recap a lot ofthe stuff that we probably have seen on
social and maybe if you're watching ornot watching, give you like the cliff
notes, the highlights, all thegood stuff for sure, because there's a
lot that people have missed if they'renot watching. Is there a sport for
you, Erica that you love watching? Gymnastics like everyone, Yes, that

(00:50):
is my number one, followed byswimming. Yeah, then diving, Oh
you know what, we're very similar, okay, yeah, and then there
was uh yeah, because like therewas the doubles. I think Monday Night,
Oh my gosh, that was impressive. How you do it and sync
like that? And then you know, what I watched on Monday. And

(01:12):
by the way, this is beingrecorded Tuesday afternoon, so we know the
news now that the US women's gymnasticsgot the gold. Oh my god.
Okay, I'm just fighting out actually, so this is great. I can't
wait to watch it. I was, if I'm being completely honest, I

(01:33):
was a little bummed that I openedInstagram right now. It's like, dang
it. This is the problem withOlympics of the US. It's the timing
is often so you find out prior, which is fine, right because all
of that happened like at nine amthis morning in LA time, and and
balls all right, well now weknow. Yeah, it takes it away

(01:56):
from me because I like the pressureof like watching it and being like,
oh, oh my gosh, arethey going to pull through or they're gonna
pull through? But now I know, Like I just I just saw some
of the viles do her fluoroutine againand like crushed it like a double passable
layout or whatever the hell she did. So she is hands down goat of
all time. When you say goatof all time, the greatest of all
time, of all time, yeah, it's greatest of all time, of

(02:20):
all time. Do you think there'sany chance for it. She's a twenty
seven year old gymnast that's already likepretty rare. Do you think there's any
chance she comes back for the LAOlympics in twenty twenty eight? One could
hope. Now, I want tohave a little bit I want to have
done a little bit more research beforeyou ask me a question like that,

(02:42):
because I want to know, likethe oldest person that maybe has competed for
US gymnastics. I could probably findout why do you like me? Well?
Because yeah, and I want totalk about the Olympics, meaning in
LA in four years. But thatis going to be a game changer.
I mean our city already is doinglike such new things. What is that

(03:05):
an expression? Okay, in thenineteen fifties there was the gymnasts for thirty
five, thirty and twenty eight.Woll you know? So yeah, I
mean, in my perfect world,I would love to see someone Biles.
Yeah. I mean she obviously hadlike a minor injury, but I don't

(03:25):
know, it just would be socool in stopper. Well, right,
it didn't stop her totally. She'snow the most decorated Olympian in gymnastics probably
I thought she already was all thatas well. Oh then maybe that's an
old but it was like posted tenminutes ago, so I figured like she
won more medals. Yeah yeah, yeah, I made it. Yeah see,

(03:46):
it's all delayed. I don't knowwhat's real and what's not. I
know until I watched, though.I watched the whole three hours last night.
By the way, name Michael waslike, let's go to bed,
and I was like, I can't, I can't. I do like and
I want to shout out Peacock. This is not an ad. I've experiencing
it through Peacock and how they've likecategorized everything and you can just watch highlights

(04:08):
if you want to and all whateverand whatever sport you want to watch.
I was like, whoa, thisis a game changer. It is so
good. I saw Michael tag orpost something about how great like the gold
zone is or something, yes, yes, the gold See he's Peacock's biggest
fan. I didn't think that Iwas gonna get into equestrian, but I
was like watching the horses do allthose hurdles yesterday and I was like,

(04:30):
okay, this is like we wereall it was like a meet and the
three kids on the couch and theywere all just like, do knock down
the pool? Yeah? Oh arethey enjoying because the twins have done gymnastics,
right, Yeah, so they didnot see they have not seen the
gymnastics because it was the men's hadhappened and during the day yesterday, Monday

(04:51):
morning, and then by the nighttime they were asleeping. Yeah yeah,
okay those kids in beddle like sevenforty five. So yeah, covergs didn't
start until like seven third And Itrust me, I thought about it because
the men's gymnastics for Monday night itwas so so absolutely incredible. Yeah,
like I think that we've not thatwe put all the focus on women's gymnastics,

(05:12):
but there was a whole special onthe men's gymnastics. And how I
think his name is Frederick Robert RobertRichmond, Richmond, rich Richards It's Richard?
Is it Richard de Richmond? Ithink this is this is the deal?
Maybe you're right, So this isthe problem that he was saying.
He's like, I could be thebest gymnast in the world and win gold

(05:35):
or you know, bronze, silver, whatever you name in and people are
still not going to know my nameand they're not going to know who I
am. And he wants to putmen's gymnastics on the map. He wants
people to be more like aware ofhow amazing this sport is. And I
was like all in. I waslike, oh, my gymnastics classes put

(05:55):
him back in. His parents socute. Frederick Richard always right. I
don't know why I question. It'sfine, it's fine, I have photograph
of memory. But don't you feellike this is the first team that is
like kind of becoming a household name. Yes, and it gets goinda have
like their own fab five moment atleast for me, And I love the
stories where you get to know theirparents and all that stuff. Because his

(06:16):
parents, his dad was so cute. He was like, that's my baby,
that's my baby. Okay, Butdid you also sob watching Brodie Malone's
dad talk about losing his mom.Yep, I did. My boyfriend's cooking
in the kitchen. I'm sitting watchingand he without, He doesn't turn around.
He just says, I know you'resobbing right now because he was listening

(06:38):
to it and like full tears, just oh my god. It makes that
much more like special when you watchthem do their routines or their the bault
and the bars and the rings orwhatever the hell they do. Oh yeah,
I'm all in all the crazy things. And Michael was like in and
out. He wasn't watching completely, but he sat down to open our mail,

(07:00):
which I don't know about you,but we go about a month and
a half to two months without openingour male same not good, not good,
but that's how I function. Likethere's like there's I don't even know
how the poor male woman was puttingit into our box. He took it
out. He like couldn't even openthe doors, like jammed. Yeah,
so he was sorting through our mailand he just happens to look up when

(07:25):
I believe it was him that wason. I mean, they're all jacked,
but he literally like whoa, thatguy is ripped, and like,
I know, look at their upperbodies. They're like it's wild, and
you know, it's interesting. It'sdifferent than the women because they kind of
have to be a little older,Like sixteen year old boys can't be that
ripped, but sixteen year old oldmean, okay, right, can be

(07:47):
that athletic. I know you meanbecause Frederick is twenty, I mean,
this is just the beginning for him. He's still like at least two,
it's probably more Olympics at least.Yeah, it's gonna be insane. So
congrats again to men and women's gymnasticsfor just crushing it. Yes, onto

(08:11):
thinking about the Olympics being here inLos Angeles, are you a little bummed
that you don't live here anymore?I am, But we just got announced
as the Winter Olympics in twenty thirtyfour, so, like, you know,
knowing my luck, I'll leave hereagain by then. But because I
was there when LA got announced, but I don't know I could come back
for it. Oh my god, don't say that. Second of all,

(08:35):
it cut out. You said twentyten years from now thirty four, you're
gonna have four kids by then? No, Well, I mean I guess
I could, but hopefully not twosets of twins. I'm going to pass
over the twin very best for you. I have a question for you though,

(08:56):
because sure you were in Rio right, like you went to where the
Olympics were in Rio, London andRio. Okay, so for you,
the Olympics coming to LA, like, is it even that big of a
deal You've already been to two.Yes, it's okay, such a big
deal for starters. It's in ourcity, So I think that that's just

(09:22):
like the coolest thing ever. Okay, the way it transforms, at least
the cities that I've visited, it'sall there is like and I know that
LA is massive and so it's notgoing to be like on every corner,
but sure in the big transit areas, like it's it's as if like you're
it's as if like you're inside thearenas or whatever, just even being outside

(09:45):
of it because there's so much happeningand there's like giant billboards and all this
stuff everywhere, and there's people walkingaround and probably extra security and things like
that, because at least in Riothere was like so much security at all
times you felt safe, like walkingaround even at night. And I like
that there. I want to seelike how they're going to transform all of

(10:05):
the things, because I know, like Sofi Stadium is going to host swimming.
I believe, oh cool that one. That is wild. Yeah,
And so every one of our mainvenues are going to be utilized, from
UCLA to USC the Rose Bowl, the Colisseum, and then the Colisseum is

(10:28):
going to be where soccer is,which okay, makes sense. And then
the Rose Bowl was maybe going tobe track and field and is crypto gymnastics.
Oh probably. I didn't even tothink. I didn't even see that
one when I was looking at Yeah, one of them, obviously one of
them is gymnastics crypto, right.I remember like not being thrilled about it,

(10:48):
and I was like, oh,because it's hard to get to for
me. It's a lot easier toget to the Kia Forum in Englewood than
it is to get to downtown LosAngeles. I just feel like it's there's
anyway you go. It's going tobe impossible. It's traffic either way.
I don't even I can't even fathomwhat the traffic's gonna be like when the

(11:11):
Olympics are here in twenty twin ye. But apparently we're gonna have like a
bunch of great public transportation by then, so TVD, Yeah, totally all
that great transportation you already have thatyou use all the time. Four years.
Yeah, it's gonna be great.I'm not I'm not opposed to the
metro. It's just not convenient forme, right exactly. So, Yeah,

(11:33):
but it's funny because they had theopening ceremonies in Paris on the Sene
River, and it's the first timethey ever done something like that where it
wasn't in an actual arena, right, And did you see how people were
posting that they were pissed with howmuch their tickets cost? You know,
I thought about that. I waslike, how do you end up along
one little chunk of where the ceremonyis? Like do you only go for

(11:56):
an hour? Do they show it? Probably not? Yeah, what I
saw on social was at least justlike this one girl who basically spent six
k you know, thought she wasgonna be near the Eiffel Tower and all
she saw was the boat of theparade. And then I came to like
some of the performances or people singingor whatnot. It's like with screens everywhere,

(12:18):
like it wasn't necess you couldn't seelike the actual performances. Yeah,
I mean I kind of don't youkind of know what you're Yeah, that's
what I think too, So Imean you read the fine print. Yeah.
I also wouldn't spend six thousand dollars. I don't think on the opening
ceremony, like maybe to see theUS women's gymnastics team compete, but otherwise

(12:43):
no. Oh. I love theUS women's gymnastics team, but I wouldn't
even spend six thousand dollars to seethat. I don't have no thousand dollars
to spend right now. I justbought a house. I'm not sure what
I'm talking about. Oh, yeah, you're gonna be bleeding money for months
and months. Welcome to the club. Yeah, but you know it is.
I will tell you this. I'mexcited to see what prices will be

(13:07):
here in LA because I mean,if there are anything compart of Taylor Swift,
like Taylor Swift or the Super Bowlwhen you like splurged on the Super
Bowl, right, I did splurgeon the Super Bowl. And the way
I justify it is it was inLos Angeles, Yeah, and Snoop Dogg
and M and M and Doctor Drewere the halftime show. Yes, so

(13:28):
I would have spent a good chunkof that money to go watch them perform,
probably for two hours versus fifteen minutes. And I got my tickets at
wholesale because I'm a season ticket holderfor the Chargers and so SOFI Stadium hostally.
But do you think you would try, Like, are you going to
try to go to events when it'sin LA? Are you gonna try to

(13:50):
bring the kids one hundred percent?Okay, yeah, okay, I think
I'm going to do the whole thing. You know, my parents did that
when the Olympics were in Los Angelesin nineteen eighty four. Oh wait,
they took you. No, Iwas a new born. They took my
brother and my sister. So mydad bought like a package or whatever,
and they saw a few different eventshere and there, and then my mom

(14:13):
and my dad bought matching us tracksuits. Oh that my gosh. They still
have to this day. I've actuallywarned my mom's to something. I forget
what it was, and uh andit kind of inspired Michael and I to
have matching Olympian tracksuit jackets because himand I now own the ones from London
and the ones from Rio, andyou're gonna have to get the ones from

(14:37):
LA, aren't you honest? Theycrossed my mind to get the Tokyo ones
and I'm like, we're not eventhere. You didn't go, no w
there was like no spectators that no. Oh yeah, well then you were
there in spirit because no one elsewas actually we still bought merch that like
I don't even own anymore because Iwas nine months pregnant with Savellah. Yeah

(14:58):
that was an that was maybe pregnancybrain right there, because why because I
wanted to be supportive, and sowe bought Tokyo gear. We would war
for one, I think opening ceremoniesto watch him on TV. Yeah,
we're nerds. Honestly crossed my mindto buy it this year, and I
was like, this is a wasteof money. No, right, next
year, four years from now,it'll be reasonable. We're going to be

(15:20):
dripped in the USA gear. Mygosh, I can't wait, official official
merch right. So, I thinkone of the highlights, and I think
we'll end with this today is thespeedo Okay catcher. I did not see
this until you sent it to me, and I was like crying, laughing,
what is how? Why did heneed to be wearing that speedo.

(15:43):
I don't have the answers for thisbecause I can't take credit. Michael's the
one that sent it to me,and he was just like, this man
is going viral for being in thisspeedo and and capturing the cap of one
of the swimmers. That fell atthe bottom of the pool, right,
it's his job or he's like alifeguard. Yeah, allegedly is a lifeguard.

(16:03):
But imagine being a lifeguard for abunch of Olympic swimmers. They're not
going to need you. You neverknow, they could hit their head and
he has to go in and fishthem out. Oh gosh. To be
fair, he didn't look that fitto be a lifeguard. He looks fine.
I'm not body shaming him. Ooh, Erica, you are saying what
everyone is thinking. We're just somessed up because he looks like a hundred

(16:30):
times better than the majority of onthis planet. He looks better than me.
But I'm but yang. But yet, yet our minds go to criticize
this man who in a speedo onnot even national world televis television. Hold
on, though, I'm also nota lifeguard for the Olympics, so that's

(16:52):
where the difference is, and choosethat job. Maybe this is not his
lifelong goal. You know, Iprobably wanted to be an Olympian and just
you know, those who can't catchend up catching caps or end up lifeguarding
for the best swimmers in the world. Literally, the best swimmers and they
were like, it's impossible to tryto like see if one of them is

(17:17):
gonna drown. But I get whatyou're saying. Do you think that his
name's actually Bob? Or is itlike when you go bobbing for apples?
Oh that's a good question because everyone'slike Bob the cap Catcher, and I'm
like, is it? But Imean, sure, let's just go with
Bob. But yeah, that wasreally funny, and you're right, I

(17:40):
did. I mean, does hehave to wear speto necessary? Couldn't he
also be wearing those like long jongswimsuits they wear. Did you watch the
competition of them doing like I don'tknow, the one hundred meter is it
breaststroke? What is it called thesomething when they like down and they put
their hands together and then out andthey pop up? Sure that one or

(18:04):
just any of the swim races fromMonday? Yea, yeah? Did you
not think that like Usa like hadit at some points? I was like,
that is to the way they lose. They lose by like a two.
Mean, I can't even do theright maths and say when we're pretense
of a second? Yeah, yeah, that that has got to eat you

(18:26):
alive for the next four years. To miss a podium by that little I
don't or to miss gold, It'slike, what have you worked for all
this time? Not to make themworse? To be To be honest,
I don't know if I'm if I'min my opinion, I think mat To
be honest, I don't know.In my opinion, I feel as if

(18:47):
they're grateful to get on the podium. I think it's like, yeah,
okay, it's podium or bust.Obviously the gold would be incredible, but
even missing that, like I thinkUSA got the bra I forget what metals
they were, but even those three, like the gold, silver, and
bronze were all within two tenths ofa second away from the echo episode.
It's like it was like anybody's game. Yeah, but what's the difference there?

(19:10):
Is it one extra breath? Isit just one extra It could be
the difference in your height. Ohmy gosh, my gosh, don't break
things over here. I've just workedup because think about it, you and
I swimming against each other. Ifwe were the same level of athleticism,
I think you'd beat me. I'ma horrible swimmer, but like my arms
will reach further. You're right, that's not fair. Now everyone's gotta be

(19:33):
the same height. We got tobe done with this, or the shorter
people get like two tenths of asecond head start. I don't so no,
okay, now you go, nowyou go, now you go,
No you go. You know, there's so many SoCal athletes that are competing
in the Olympics this year in alldifferent categories. But then you brought up

(19:56):
an interesting fact Erica that like,uh, Woodrow Wilson High School, which,
by the way, I very familiarwith this high school. I went
to Low Sala Medos High School, which is right next to not next door,
but like the next city. Isthat like your rival? Yeah,
we would compete with them in likefootball. We have a few football games
and things like that and other sportsand stuff. So yes, very much
so. But you were pulling upthis fact, and let me make sure

(20:18):
I get it right, says WilsonHigh School has had an alumni in the
Summer Olympics for the past thirty twoOlympics. Yes, so every single Olympics
since I want to say, likenineteen fifty two or something like that.
Huh. There was one Olympics thatthe US boycotted in nineteen eighty and so
they didn't have anyone there. Butotherwise they have had an athlete from that

(20:42):
school. Isn't that weird? Thatis really cool? Yeah, and there's
two this summer. Yeah, inParis they have Rachel Glenn who's a high
jumper, and Max Irving, who'sin water polo. Like, I don't
know if anyone from my high schoolhas ever gone to the Olympics. Like

(21:03):
what, I have a feeling thatsome people from my high school have gone
to the Olympics, and we justdon't know. Well, i'd have to
look it up. But I justwant I don't want to toot my own
horn. But I went to areally good high school with really good athleticism
all around, she says, becauseshe was a cheerleader, so she was
the national Inclusive Champion Champion cheerleader.Let me add I went to a high

(21:29):
school with very good athletics. Iam a three time CCS field hockey champ
right here, because let's relive ourglory days. But like, I don't
think any of my fellow alumni I'vebeen to the Olympics. I think you.
I think your high school was prettyup there too. Maybe I'm wrong.
What was your high school called again? Oh, Low Salamados. I'm

(21:52):
just looking up to see if anythingpops up for Olympians. Oh no,
someone's training for the few. Sure, look at that Rachel Fatal gold medal
Olympian water polo from Low Salamados HighSchool. How do we not know these
things? Don't you think that shouldhave made or is she's in the Olympics

(22:17):
right now? Oh my gosh. The girl who won, who lives in
Utah for some horse cross country thingis from my high school. But she
lives in Utah. Okay, wellwe're just done. Okay, so now
you're now you're booking someone on yourshow. I need to call her,

(22:41):
can't be her peoples? Well, anyways, congratulations to all the athletes.
You guys are badass and I couldnever do, I mean a tenth of
what you guys do, so try. I tried to touch my toes this
morning before I got in the shower, and I was like, woo oh
no, you want to do aspects? Yes? And it honestly made me

(23:02):
so sad because I just have beenreally slacking with stretching lately. Get on
the peloton or I'll do the treadmill. But I just I just get so
lazy to stretch, and it's soimportant for obvious reasons. I used to
be able to bend down and putmy hands like the palm of my hands
flat on the floor, with mylegs straight, like completely, like no

(23:25):
issue, might stretch a little, like feel a tightness. But today,
I'm telling you, I could barelytouch the tip of my fingers on the
ground, and I was like, wow, it's been a minute. You
know what, though you've also birthedthree children, I don't know that I
could keep using that excuse. Yes, you can use that for the rest
of your life. It changes yourbody chemistry. No, I think it's

(23:48):
kinda you know what. I amno longer postpartum. I gotta whip my
body into shape. It's like,no more excuses. Birthday is just weeks
away. I know I'm still losingmy baby. Wait, leave me what
you want to be It's okay,Yeah, it's Brad Summer, live your

(24:11):
life. Here we go. Noneed to get into that, all right,
I have a wonderful rest of yourweek. Go Team USA. We
are all your cheerleaders for this entirerun of the Olympics, which ends on
the eleventh August. That's right, all right, bye,
